Eds do u think we will hav aby intrest in this lad very good player
Basy {Ed002's Note - No.}

Any reason why? He is truly amazing, especially in the euros he was. {Ed002's Note - It is MOTD fever. Pretty much every game sees a player perform better than the others. Liverpool cannot have interest in and buy them all. Until there is any confirmed interest he will remain a random name like all of those who are found on fantasy manager or whatever the games are.}

Not Liverpool related, but England 3rd best ranked team in the world, my ass....

Watching England for a laugh, no doubt that Cleverly's limitations are clear against a good Ukraine side. Shelvey is a much better player than him, so to Henderson come think of it. Have faith in these young players because we'll have a top top side. With Sterling, Kelly, Coates, Borini, Sahin boxed Allen being under 25. Well under that chaff as well bar Joe Allen. Instead of moaning all the time about the same old crap, why don't we take a step back and realise we have the nucleus of an outstanding team. Things really aren't as bad as what quite a few bedwetter's on here try and make not day in day out.
JohnnyBoy

Cleverly is injury prone and overrated, because he plays for united...

question for ed001 do you think like me that until gerrard and carragher retire or leave we wont be as strong again. DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - to be honest, yes, I think they do need to move on now.}

It depends how they are around the club and that I do not know...

Ed002 have you always liked football. Just seems strange. {Ed002's Note - I can take it or leave it. Why strange?}

Just a female {Ed002's Note - Sure, I like chicks.}

A female that knows so much about football is strange. {Ed002's Note - THat is weird isn't it.}

Why is it weird? I'm a girl and I post on here all the time, lots of people agree with things I say, I just don't like to sign it off, as if people disagree with me rather than debate the issue will put it down to me being a girl and knowing nothing...At least if people assume I'm a guy we can have some kind of sensible discussion. And I know I am
making vast generalisations about all guys that like football, but in my experience this has been true.

As a Man United fan, I also hope the truth comes out tomorrow. What happened was both tragic and disgraceful and those responsible should be named. I can only try and imagine how hard it has been for everyone associated with your club - there but for the grace of God go the fans of other clubs, it could easily of been us/them. I really hope some kind of closure can be achieved in the coming weeks.

Why hasnt gerrard been playing like this for us,
Thats 3 great passes. Atleast we know he hasnt lost it.
Andrew

Two yellows and off. Rash challenge. Back to how he used to be - bad tackles and early baths.

Gerrard is england palyer rather then Liverpool

Both yellows weird dubious. I thought the ref made a couple bad decisions, on the defo goal and either of gerrards yellows could have been just fouls

I wasnt at Hillsborough, it was a time when I was going to a lot of Liverpool games but that one was out of reach for me.
A few weeks before id been at White Heart lane in the away end, they had one section of the 3 closed off and empty, Liverpool fans where filing in, kick off was getting closer and the tannoy announcer asked everyone to move up so the rest of the fans outside could get in, there was nowhere to go, we were down the front, right up against the fencing, ppl screamed for the empty side to be opened but we were ignored, more ppl pushed in thru the turnstyles, thankfully my friend and i were helped by a Spanish guy who, holding the fence, used his body to shield us and pushed back. It was frightening but thankfully someone that day had some sense and the empty section was opened, danger was averted and we all got to enjoy the game and go home!
96 of us didnt get to do that on that awful April day, My thoughts are with the families, friends and those affected by the injustice of it.
Tomorrow will bring a new dawn in the J4T96 campaign, lets hope its a bright one and the truth will out!
ItsNotRocketScience

I was there that day and lost a mate and his son. never forget nor do i want to. I have been through similar situations before, thankfully without the ending being the same. Treat peple like animals and they will perform like animals. Walsall, Spurs,Derby, stoke and many more grounds could have had a similar story. it was,nt just that it was on that day but it was the lies that have been told. TRUTH, That is all that we want

How does Cleverly get into the England 1st team squad. And Jon Jo Shelvey isn't even on the reserve list?

Hodgson back to form......

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Shelvey has only just got into the u21, cleverly has been there for years.

To be fair Cleverly has abit more prem experience than jonjo, Too many players like sterling would make him look a silly manager.

by sterling i mean prem newbies.

UCCM

On current form Shelvey is better than most of the English midfielders. Cleverly is average at best but still an England starter and Jon Jo isn't even considered for it? If Hodgson can call up an unproven 17yr old (Sterling) then why not Shelvey?

If anyone thinks that Cleverly is a good player. Should probably be sent to SpecSavers.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Jon Jo and Joe Allen have been our best players so far this season, UCCM mate. Cleverly is and has been rubbish.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Cleverley is over hyped because he plays for you know who. He looked good against a pub team at the weekend. As soon as he's playing against anyone decent, he's out of his depth.

redmersey

I for one think he is awful, ive constantly been saying... Why is this lad playing for England and not Jonjo. Cleverly has 8 more games experience in the prem than Shelvey & he has never once impressed me for Utd or England.

Agreed cleverly is man utd version of spearing, But i meant he has more experience than jonjo thats why he was picked, i in NOOOO way beleive cleverly is in the same class as jonjo just that roy picked him based on more prem mins than jonjo.

And i agree Roy needs to realise class is class not mins or a man u shirt.

UCCM

Redmersey, are you saying Cleverly plays for Voldermort?

I posted the other day saying gerrards legs are gone and he isnt doing well for us, i think looking at him for england so far tonight its the 4-3-3 system thats responsible for him being worse than ever this season. hes smashing 50 yard passes for england tonight and finding a man every time, he doesnt seem to be let do this for us.
just an opinion. thoughts?

LFC-IRE

Gerrard, like all our other players with the exception of Allen, is still trying to learn and adapt to Buck's new 4-3-3 system. Again, It'll take time. Time which no-one seems willing to give, but needed nonetheless.

And whilst Gerrard's powers may have lessened with age, a 'lesser' Gerrard is still one the best players in the English or any other league.

SpudRed

Agree England is more important to him than Liverpool now.

UCCM

For us he plays behind the striker, for england he's the deepest midfielder. Maybe he just doesn't suit playing the no10 role anymore?

Hollywood balls, but how many lead to an assist or goal? And how many does his team lose possession?

He doesn't play that position because he have Allen & sahin who will compliment each other.

IMO gerrards best position for is is part of a front 3 with no defensive responsibilities, where he doesn't have to track back or lose possession in the dangerous part of the pitch.

Jimbob

I would rather rather Brendan drop Gerrard, if he can't play in a 4-3-3, than for him to abandon his philosophy.

That's because he only trusts himself when playing for liverpool, he must not be happy with the level of quality around him, making him think that he has to do everything by his lonesum.

He needs a lesson on team work and should come off the bench to be a game changer.

he only shows up for 5mins in a game. doesn't track back, makes silly slack passes ,(he can't pass short for some reason) he just has to go long (he always tries stupid over judged long balls to johnson) then we lose possession.

& LUCAS why did you have to go be a person and get a 3month injury?

we could have been set up like this.

Sterling=Suarez=Gerrard
====Allen=.=Sahin===
======Lucas======
jose, agger---skrtel, glen
======Reina======

Can't play 433? Bull. Steven Gerrard has played his best football when there have been two other central midfielders on the pitch.

Maybe he just had two bad games?

Oh no wait, I forgot we're now living in a land of hyperbole where long-terms servants of the club are finished if they make a couple of errors, the club Captain is thinking too focussed England if he has a good game for them, the manager can be deemed incapable after 3 League matches and should be sacked, and the owners that saved us from Administration are thieving Yanks who'll run us into the ground because we didn't buy Cavani.

And anyone who disagrees is clearly a sentimental old fool with Liverbird shaped, rose-tinted glasses.

- Something Red -

Maybe he cant play2 games a week anymore

Something red, your comment was slightly stupid, he played in behind fernando torres when we played two defensive midfielders under rafa..that was a 4-2-3-1 formation, he played in a free role in the hole and alonso and mascherano always took the defensive duties.

LFC-IRE

I would rather have gerrard as player manager than lose him . ynwa

Do you know any news about suso and agger contract extension? Please answer me if u know.. Thx

I would cry if we losed either off them shine some light on this please ed(s)? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing I know of at this time.}

Agger has two years left, don't panic. If he wanted to leave and the club wanted him out then he'd be gone already.

Suso is a complex one. He's obviously talented and may get some first team action soon, so I can't see him not signing. The club will surely be speaking to his agent, perhaps negiotiating over fee's, contract length, first team guarantees or the wage. Don't panic too much, most negotiations are done quietly, it's just that the hype surrounding Suso's talent means people are worrying uneccesarily.

Papa G

Papa G

I think if Suso starts training with the first team and gets a few starts in the Cups (league, FA, and Europa) then he'll sign a new contract for 3-4 years and work for his place. i hope so, because he *will* be a star somewhere in the future.

Some have said Suso is a moaner and is unhappy, but in all fairness the development of a quality young player like Suso is a 2 way street in that we have to show him that we value him and that his career development is best served here with us. In turn, both our captain Gerrard and our Manager have said that youth players have to show what they are about *every* day in training and not just wait for a 15 minute first team cameo to shine.

As a mature Red fan I have felt it important to educate my son about the fight for Justice over the last 23 years, he is 21 yrs old. The same applies to me step kids, age 14 and 12, both of the bluenose persuasion! This task of education does not stop with those who will listen,but to those who still believe some of the vile lies spewed out by MeKenzie et al. Unfortunately I have had to put a few home truths to a colleague who is from North Wales and supports Everton, she is a great girl and wicked sense of humour, thus banter is good, nonetheless she did believe the press stories about the disaster to my disblief. So as tommorrow approaches, and hopefully the truth emerges, be mindful of those who still suffer and educate those who still require it, especially the younger generations.

I would like to hear the names of those who survived that horrific day, only to be robbed of their will to live in the long years that followed due to the lie's, corruption, cover ups, and self preserving cowardice of not just the commanders in charge that afternoon, but the government departments and officials, and not forgetting a certain vile daily publication, who served to protect and promote the lie's. The lie's that made life so unbearable for some survivors that they felt they had no alternative but to take their own lives in the painful years that followed, these names should also be read out at services for the 96¦.they didn't know it but then but they lost their lives that day too, and along with the families, fellow survivors, Liverpool fans everywhere, and particularly the people of Liverpool, both sides of Stanley Park who's character has been so callously, deliberately and falsely tarnished. Resulting in a 23 year fight for Justice, 23 years to wait to fully mourn the husband, son, brother, sister or mother, 23 year to have the very people and departments who exist to protect us officially made accountable. 23 years for the judicial wrongs to be righted. 23 years for a full unequivocal apology from all persons and departments implicated in this cover up. We could never forgive those culpable, we will never Forget the victims living and dead, the Truth will not mark the end! an apology won't mark the end! but together may signal the beginning of the end of the long road to Justice.

From a London Red with that afternoon tattooed in his memory forever, my thoughts are with you all tomorrow

Lost ten years of my life cant remember it oblivion due to alchol just to forget yet my memory of that awful day is as fresh as the day it happened . The worst of many memories is the policeman turning his back on a lad behind the cages of leppings lane end when he spotted his brother lying on the pitch have had nightmares over that on many occasions I am sorry but I dont need what is going to be said tomorow about what happened I know who was to blame the police searching us when entering the ground causing back log of fans , not putting kick off back knowing the build up out side but most of all loosing the plot when it all happened the police were useless puting riot police across the half way line when people were dying useless *******s I hope they have suffered as us fans have that were there that day or at home watching it all unfold in front of their eyes god bless our 96 and all the survivors

Im in no doubt certain people covered their backs,but im not sure about the word culpable?.mistakes happen,i mean there are plenty of useless stupid lazy so and so,s walking the streets right now masquarading as police officers,like that poor wee girl that was murdered a few weeks ago,the house was searched twice and they didnt find her body,i mean COME ON!.what i am trying to say is nobody planned what happened that awfull day,the fans wanted in and the police in their stupidity for whatever reason obliged,dereliction of duty comes to mind,but bear in mind if the police where not there at all that day would that terrible tragedy still have happened the way it did,unfortunatly prob yes

Eds, Have you heard anything about the Seb Larsson rumours? Heard BR is keen on him. {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

He certainly would concider it since he is a LFC fan since a young age. I believe he would have signed last summer if asked to. I for one prefered him over Downing back then especially since he was free...Possibly he would like to stay up north though since I believe he and his family are well suited up there. But you never know...

First time posting.... Love the site, pay little attention to others........ I've heard, as I'm sure everyone has... Various rumours about why the Dempsey deal fell through.... Talk of fulham wanting more from us, trying to palm players off to them etc etc... What I heard was that John Henry & the rest of them, are struggling with finances in a BIG way.. Hence the selling of assets in the u.s... And rogers was told... If we find the £3mill extra for Dempsey, the academy would have to be closed to finance the deal!! SURELY I'm being wound up, right?? Or is it REALLY as bad as reported, or just more stupid rumours?? Cheers... Millsy {Ed002's Note - You have been the subject of a prankster. The bottom line is that Liverpool made a bid of £3M for Clint Dempsey and that bid was rejected. That's it.}

I read that Sahin has to be in the starting 11. Its part of the deal. Any truth to this rumour. I seriously doubt Gerrard will be dropped from the starting 11 even though I feel Shelvey has done enough to merit a start. So let's be realistic when predicting our line ups. Suso, Yesil etc will not be startes. They will be introduced & gradually grafted in. These are the midfielder & attackers that are most likely to start at the moment; Sterling Suarez Gerrard Allen & Sahin are almost guaranteed starters. The other spot will most likely go to Borini. If Shelvey continues to impress as a sub then "MAYBE" he may cause some selection headaches. Assaidi looks like he may make the right wing his own but it would be premature to say that until we see him play a few times in a Red Jersey. As for the back line, it picks itself at the moment. Enrique, Agger, Skrtel & Johnson. Downing Kelly & Coates on the bench. Just being real with my expectations. Hopefully a proven goal scorer & a goal keeper could be added in January.

I don't know for certain, but it wouldn't surprise me if Madrid inserted a clause that could allow them to recall Sahin in January if he isn't playing. Which makes sense from their point of view. If we loaned someone like Shelvey out for experience, I'd like to be able to recall them if they were on the bench. They might as well be sitting on our bench instead of someone else's.

Lucas is out for a few weeks. When he comes back, I would expect a combination of rotation, and maybe Gerrard being pushed up behind Suarez and Sterling/Borini in some games to keep the space open. Gerrard could be dropped if his form warrants it, but I don't think it's reached that point yet.

samed yesil looks like a great prospect.
He reminds me of Torres a bit, his movement is good and he instinctively knows where the goal is.

I don't know why people are so desperate for him to be in the first team though, he doesn't look a million miles away but he is not quite ready.

I would play him in the cups and the reserves and maybe give him a few cameos from the bench near the end of the season to blood him for more of a role next year.

We must have one of the best group of youngsters in Europe right about now. It will be them that take us back to the top.

Dempsey would of been a sticking plaster to our problems.
Our youngsters are the cure.

MIKEY

We can't depend on one player anymore, be it Gerrard, Suarez or Reina. Injuries happen - we need good quality back ups.
So buying one player for £xx million who gets injured will not help the team. aklfc
JFT96

As much as I like Dempsey, been a fan for years and was really made up he was about to sign for Liverpool, on the grander scheme of things it makes little difference anyway.
Top 4 would of been out of reach anyway regardless.
Time to have a transitional period.
A proper one this time.
The quality of our youngsters is too much too ignore or neglect, a massive change is required at the club to take full advantage of this and that's what we are seeing.

MIKEY

Why isn't he ready?

Hi eds! Just when i thought letting carroll go and not replacing him was bad enough we still have not sorted out new long term contracts for our 2 future stars in sterling and suso these 2 really are special talents who are both have got less than 12months left on there current deals its just incredible what is going on with in our club it really does seem that something is wrong!!!! A long walk home one sunny April day
Felling proud of the game I've just played
Walking through into the living room
Waiting to hear the score of my beloved Liverpool

My mood was changed within a glance
Those poor people didn't stand a chance
Where's the police!, where's the help!
Open the gates, just get them out!

Shame on you Harry Arnold
Shame on you Kevin Mackenzie
Shame on you who wrote with the devils pen
Shame on you now and shame on you then

Shame on you, Sir Kenneth Oxford
Shame on you the boys in blue
Shame on you, the ones we thought would keep us safe
Shame on you, the day we lost the faith.

Shame on you who know the truth
Shame on you who had the proof
The justice bell rings loud and true
For the 96
We will always fight for you

Evered

I can't believe anyone would disagree with the last post..... Shame on you all who disagree...... Some things are more important than football no matter who u support...... Get a life and grow up...... Hope we get justice one day for the 96 who never came home...... You will never n I mean never be forgotten......walk on forever in our memories

Can change the subject with Rafa please people. Really really boring now.

Obviously you prefer mid-table obscurity to boredom!

I can see Rafa back managing Liverpool within 18 months - 2 years - so get ready to be bored playing in Champions League finals.

redmersey

Redmersey - Would you really want that? Do you really think he could work under FSG?

I think you are blinded by the shine of UCL trophy mate. Rafa did much good (UCL & getting the academy priority back) but made some major mistakes as well + outside of half a season, the football was boring. H & G didnt help but like them, I see Rafa as a thing of the past. Walk on not backwards.

I wasn't born when it happened. I didn't start supporting Liverpool till about 2003 and had no idea about the events that occurred on that horrid day. But since I started following the club, I read into it, the things i read sickened me. As a Liverpool fan, I believe, you simply must have some kind of knowledge about what happened. Over the years, I followed the progress being made to find the truth. But 23 years, really? That is so disrespectful to the families of the victims. One more day till the truth. I just hope this day goes as planned so the families are not hurt anymore. YNWA JFT 96

Wouldn't mind if we sold Reina, as long as we have a replacement that will be signed. Reina WAS great imo, but it seems like he may feel there is a lack of challenge, and he would need a new environment. But we'll see first despite his poor showing of late.

I would like to know who we would replace pepe with, don`t say butland, still an unknown quantity,
our reserve keepers are not fit to lace pepe`s boots,
all keepers go through stages like this, look at cech,deghea,given,casillas etc
grobelaar made loads of mistakes but we still loved him and backed him,
leave reina alone, he`ll get his form back, he is not solely responsible for our lack of points

wardie

The thing is Grob was always like that. Very eccentric style of keeping, pulled off world class saves every match and was prone to the odd howler.
The problem with Reina is that he set the bar very high in his first few seasons.
Since Rafa left, his form has dipped and hasn't shown signs of returning to what it was (nearly 2 seasons now).
there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough and bring in a replacement that you think will do a job.
It might just be the goalkeeping coach (can't remember the name of the one that left that used to work with Reina when Rafa was there).

Just wondering who everyone thinks will win the Champions League this year? Personally, I'm going for Bayern Munich. I just can't see any weaknesses in their team. Added to the fact that the squad has been bolstered throught the purchases of Javi Martinez, Dante, Shaqiri and Mandzukic. They now have a top goalkeeper and defence, an excellent midfield and an attack with flair and ruthlessness, with the whole team possessing fantastic technique and tactical excellence.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

Cmon celtic!

spirit of 67!

No doubts,bayern has to take it unless they are unlucky again.

Don`t write off barca, i think they will take all the beating as usual

wardie

I don't know who will win it, but I know 4 teams that definitely won't
Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea.

If there so good why did Dortmund win the league with ease?

Leeds .............. Oh wait a minute!
Huddz red ;)

As a red I HATE Bayern. How could they not finish the job against Chavski. I'm still disgusted by their performance.

May it be another European giant as long as it's none of the EPL teams.

Real Madrid

You'd be foolish to write off Man Utd. If they can keep Vidic fit, that is.

Stone YNWA.

Dortmund won with ease because bayern a) had to deal with robben and b) were concentrating on 'finale dahoam' way to much.

Cant believe nobody said barca have u not been watching football this 5 years ,ok they can be beaten but most time they dont and if they do the other team has to be very lucky ask chelsea eh.tommy Irish Red

Dont really care to be honest id rather barca win it but my team plays in the europa league.

Hey Ed's just wanted you to clarify did Raheem sterling sign a 5 year contract on November 2011, if not when does his current deal run out, cheers. {Ed002's Note - No, he is not able to sign such a contract whilst still a child. Expect a 3.5year deal in DEeember or January.}

I learnt this from FM so forgive me. So can another club offer him a contract before he turns 18 then When he is 18 he signs it? {Ed002's Note - As with any player, another club could approach Liverpool with regards to Sterling whilst he is under contract - albeit a junior contract. Liverpool will be looking to offer him a deal otherwise he could potentially let his contract run out and put him in a similar position to Paul Pogba. I would not worry about it though.}

Can someone clarify the above situation but make it about Suso please.
Is he happy? Does he want to leave/stay?

People saying that young and English is fsg's policy when buying players, are talking absolute drivel. Their policy is buying younger players who would have a higher sell on price after their contract expired. No itk bs, just pure common sense u jokers.

Iced Red

How can they have a higher selling price when their contracts expire,theyd be FREE!real common sense that

The only one talking drivel is you, makes no sense, they would not get a penny once their contract expired

I think what the post was meant to suggest is that a player would be at an age where he would have a good sell on value ( though I agree that would probably mean the contract would have had to be extended in order to retain that value)

I.E. Player signs at 22 on a four year deal.

Fulfills potential at is flying at 26. Got his best years in front of him and could be sold at a profit ONLY if he has time left on his contract. Hopefully the club would have monitored the progress properly and give the player a new contract 2 years in, therefore the player would be 26 and have two years left retaining the sell on value. There. I think thats what they would have meant, but if not I've just wasted a couple of minutes of my life!

Like andy carroll and henderson, sell them on for a major profit !!

Re the carroll and henderson crack - first you have to have the management with enough nous to buy them at a sensible price in the first place

question for one of the eds (or anyone that knows)
Valencia is a football club that has stood out with its financial problems over the last few years. how big a contributor was rafa benitez to this?
we have seen some of the things he has done to liverpool eg giving out "champions league" contracts to average footballers eg el zhar.
thanks
Nzl_red {Ed063's Note - Thats actually an exceptionally good point - although Unfortunately I don't know the answer. But I wouldn't be surprised if he was a large contributor to their previous financial problems}

Hmm....KK and BR..are the managers trying to steady the ship...
I challenge you..give them another 150 mill to spend..and still we wont qualify for CL..
it takes someting more to reach CL..apart from money.. {Ed063's Note - pfff i think under rodgers we'll reach CL football THIS year. And he's only spent about 30mil.}

Well look at few of Rafa's buy we sale and make money. Torres £50m, Alonso £35m, There was Bid for Pepe £20m, agger £23m, Skartel £20m . what is the buying price of this player ? if Lucas Not Injured then he may join the £20m list too. if Rafa waste some money then he do bring money in.

the-truth {Ed063's Note - and what about all the below average players on ridiculous wages?}

Mate in spain managers have got no power so I doubt. Everything is controlled by director of football even mourinho is fighting for ful controll at madrid

A f

Are we really looking at Rafa's "Below Average/Highly Paid" mistakes before KD and RH's more recent extravagances. As a previous poster pointed out Rafa was responsible for bringing in some amazing talent, Torres, Masch, Xabi and Pepe are World Class. Agger, Lucas, Skertel and Johnson are very good players. Even if we had that type of money again we would struggle to attract that level of talent.

Actually - and this goes out to all the simplistic Rafalites - not only was his buying policy attrocious but his man management was god-awful and the terms of the contracts he permitted are what have put us in our current situation.

This was then further compounded by Roy Hodgson who gave ridiculous wages to below average signings. You Rafalites offer him blind support when in actuality we won a CL Cup despite him and NOT because of him (ask Didi Hamann!) - admittedly he is popular in the town for the right reasons and he has a firm belief and love of Liverpool BUT so do many many people and this does not mean we should 1. install them as manager, or 2. trust them regardless.

You lot are holding the club back and dividing the support and THIS (your doing) is now showing in the stands where we used to practise being the most feared 12th man!

You don't win CL without a good manager. It was because of him...

Rafa brought a lot of average players but he still managed to get us in the CL on a regular basis, do you think BR,KK or RH could have turned smicer,traore,baros and cisse into champions league winners.
brought class aswell, mascha,torres etc
all you anti rafa brigade need to remember, only 3 years agp we were beating the mancs 4-1 at old trafford, real madrid 5-0 on agg in the cl, we could only dream of results like that now

{Ed063's Note - pfff i think under rodgers we'll reach CL football THIS year. And he's only spent about 30mil.}

===================
You were joking right ??
Getting anything between 6 -> 8th and I will say well done Rodgers ..

And to the others .. You can carry on blaming Rafa .. but this wont get us back to CL places ... We will only get there when owners spend the amount of money needed (and I know it was n't their fault 100m was wasted last year .. which was n't wasted by Rafa).

Roy

And a second CL final 2 years later.

Eds i`m not sure about cl this year, you must have said that tongue in cheek, as much as i would love that to be the case there is no chance this year, but Ed063 i will remind you this if we do or don`t qualify for cl !
wardie

Another thing people say is that he won the CL with GH's team. If that's so, why couldn't GH do it? Also, they are forgetting about the signings that RB added to that GH team to win the CL.

Wow i cant believe the rubbish i read on here! If Rafa was so great how comes he couldnt succeed with his own team? He came in as manager and won CL in his 1st season... then he made "improvements" to the squad and then what?

I think when assaidi returns from injury he would take over from borini on the right.he uses two wingers and borini aint one.imo I think benitez needs to come back and take a job at the academy..now that pep segura is gone

Front 3 should be assaidi on the right
Sterling on the left
Borini, yesil or morgan upfront
Suarez should take gerrards role (where he used to play for ajax) and gerrard and allen should be the two CM's(gerrard to be replaced with lucas when he is fit)!

A lot of people seem to think assaidi and yesil will just slot in and thats that, these two will probably take ages to settle in, after 2 or 3 games we will all be saying they aren`t good enough like borini, so please don`t say i think assaidi or yesil should play, they probably aren`t ready, and will need to be broken in gently, they will not be our saviours

Hi Eds, got some questions.
Why are we talking about Rafa?
Do you Rodgers going to drop/replace Reina? I think he is past his best.
Do you expect there to be many changes in Jan?
Does Doni train every morning like the rest of the squad?
Thanks in advance
Mr.Redhead {Ed063's Note - 1. I have no idea why anyone is talking about Rafa - I assume it is because of the comments he made about how he should've been approached for the managers job. 2. I don't think he will drop Reina, but I wouldn't be upset if he did drop him. 3. I think there may be 1 or 2 signings. 4. I have no idea sorry}

Hope Sterling doesn't play tomorrow night. I can see a bigger club coming in for him and nicking him just like we took him from QPRs academy...

yesil scored again he certainly knows where the goal is lets hope rodgers puts him in cause correct me if im wrong ,if we had someone who knew were the goal was last year we,d have finished top 4 , i no hes young & needs time to settle but weve nothing to lose,no im not a deluded fan i no the facts .we actually created more chances than united last season & they missed out on the title in the last minute of the last game & we hit the bar&post more than any other team in all the leagues & failed to convert more than half the penaltys we got so heres hoping .also hoping suso gets achance he stands out ...lfc all the way

Yesil looks great, in fact he looks too good to be true. Maybe I just don't want t get my hopes up. fingers crossed :-)

Guyz there is no doubt Benitez was fantastic coach for us and his records speak for him self

Won la liga titles and europa league with Valencia against teams like Barca and Madrid
Won champions league and FA cup with liverpool
Won club world cup and super cup with intermilans
Setup liverpool academy which is one of the best in country.
Now we come to negatives
Fact: he cant work on a budget
Fact he doesn't have plan B when there is no money and he starts fumming on media saying how owners are bad etc
Fact we have got owners who will never spend big and Benitez without spending its impossible.
I'm huge fan of benitez after all in modern footy whatever success Liverpool achieved it was coz of him and we will always be greatfull but we have to move on coz FSG and Benitez wouldn't work together eg Rodjers was let down by owners just imagine if Benitez was our manager he would go out and start war with our owners. Plz MOVE ON

Liverpool have a rubbish academy!before sterling came along the last good player to come from the academy was gerrard

Do you think we have a real chance of getting Marc Andre ter stegan if reina goes? Looks a good prospect and decent all round goalkeeper

Would be a great signing, but think bigger clubs will be in for him.
