I know I've been here before in regards to this subject but what the hell, the ticket prices are beyond a joke. I havn't been to anfield in ages now and would really like to go see the new stand but the prices are making it impossible, when you add other costs onto that, travel, food and drink etc.

It's my boys 10th birthday in 2 weeks, last night i told him to make me a list of things he wanted, so i get a 100 item list kinda thing lol, number 2 on that list was ' i want to go watch liverpool at anfield ' yet greed makes it impossible, we're not all rich, i don't understand why they're charging the prices they are when they don't need to. again its pure greed!

I wish something could be done about it, I know nothing will be done but I just think it's wrong charging these prices. I won't be there anytime in the near future even if I saved up let's be honest for a few more quid ontop of all the expenses you could have a week abroad. Good luck to those who can afford it but not all of us can.

Eds if you have a spare moment could I please have your opinion on this, why is it, Germany can have low priced tickets, yet we are charged the world? I don't know the exact figures of ticket prices in Germany but I understand they charge next to nothing because they don't have to due to TV rights is that correct? Now that to me is looking after loyal fans.

{Ed001's Note - Germany has different ownership structures, that is the difference.}

LFC16

You complain about the greed of the owners trying to run a football club where fans demand more and bigger purchases, yet you "lol" when your 10 y/ o son hands you a 100 item list of presents for his birthday. Hummmmmm.

12 Oct 2016 11:52:57
16, sadly for you (and anyone who can't afford tickets) LFC is run as a business and part of running a business is maximising profits. Ultimately if there's someone who will pay more for your ticket than you will then tickets will be set at the higher price.

The bit which really hurts is that the owners aren't particularly bothered who comes to games, what they care about is the product they provide and the consumer who will pay the most for that product.

The only way this will change is if the product is tarnished (fan demonstrations can do this) or people stop paying.

12 Oct 2016 12:14:43
Its not the same but hit the friendlies in the summer. I took my lad to Wigan and Tranmere and it cost about 40 for tickets, travel and food for both together.

He enjoyed it, they were good at the Tranmere game aswel because all the kids invaded the pitch for autographs after the match.

Then if you can hit the carling cup early rounds, my first time was Grimsby at home, macca scored a pen but we lost 2-1.

Your not going to change anything, so best to try away around it fella. or support Everton/ tranmere. Get good deals on half season tickets at there gaffs.

I take my son to the pub for games and make that our thing, chicken wings, fries and burgers couple of cokes and watch on the projector.

12 Oct 2016 22:04:05
Supermane96 - yes mate i also do the same in regards to going to the pub, well when i have time to do it like, monday ill just sit at home and watch it.

To be fair even if it is a friendly that'd do me, just so he can say he's been lol will have to look into it thanks mate.

muscatred - your right mate unfortunately that's the case, what can we do apart from moan about it.

I do believe at some time in the future some fans from whatever club will turn around and say no, enough is enough, and it needs to happen, whether you can afford it or not, its not on.

13 Oct 2016 09:51:46
Yeah same Monday nights in for me aswel fella haha

Yeah the friendlys where super cheap but good aswel, still a lot of talent on show. Firmino, matip and mane all played against Tranmere 😊.

11 Oct 2016 18:06:48
It's a shame wiji is injured but it's great that were in a place where we have hunger and quality in reserve with can and possibly grujic.

They were going to struggle to get game time whilst the current guys were winning consistently. This is their chance to stake a claim and if they do, wiji will have to work hard to get back in!

Strength in depth guys.

Hi Ed's I was wondering if Hendo was a comoli choice or King Kenny?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - It was the Liverpool scouts who identified him, Dalglish who agreed the transfer and Comolli who negotiated the transaction.}

11 Oct 2016 18:01:04
Quite easily demonstrated.

11 Oct 2016 19:53:52
Thanks ED0002.

11 Oct 2016 14:32:11
Hi Eds, can you help to clarify an argument. Am I right or wrong in thinking that a Premiership footballer is employed by his club on PAYE, therefore taxed at source as I am but is Self-Employed (or a Limited Company) for his Image Rights, Sponsorships, Endorsements etc? I believe things can get really complicated whereby Image Rights are paid in lieu of wages which HMRC are not happy about?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - There were issues about image rights and the Revenuers around 10 years ago but all of that was resolved. In the vast majority of cases image rights are of no consequence to footballers at all. There are a number in the Premier League but more elsewhere. Any monies gained as income through image rights would normally go through a UK registered limited company and would be subject to the same taxation as any other income through a limited company that is distributed as salary or a dividend else it has to either be accounted for as a legitimate expense or it becomes subject to Corporation Tax.}

The things some people argue about 😄.

HAHA is right Ron.

11 Oct 2016 15:10:09
Interesting to see how people are already bound set to have Can come in for Wjnaldum against United.

Just wondering how a midfield pairing of henderson-Lucas would work on Monday or even henderson-grujic compared to the obvious henderson-can combination.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

11 Oct 2016 15:43:16
I'd be happy to see Gruijic more, but against utd it has to be Can for me.

11 Oct 2016 18:01:41
Grujic will get his chance. Can has to platy, period.

11 Oct 2016 23:15:26
Can up against Pogba. It's a massive test for our boys and I can't wait to see it! Lucas, for me, is a good choice if Can isn't fit to start.

12 Oct 2016 16:14:01
Isn't lovren out so lucas might start at centre back?

11 Oct 2016 14:40:39
any word on the TV schedule for the Dec 31st matches? I've got tickets to the Man City game at Anfield and would like to finalize my itinerary.
thanks.

Joe Gomez update?

{Ed002's Note - The club has said nothing yet this week.}

11 Oct 2016 10:24:15
Edds/ Reds question I've been wondering about for a bit when clubs are relegated from the prem the get a balloon payment to help with the reduction in monies. Using Newcastle for instance they have sold from my knowledge two players for 40+ million pounds does this reduce the balloon payments or do they still get what they are entitled to asking only as this puts them financially better off than any other team in the championship? Hope its clear what i'm asking. Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The parachute payments are made for up to three years (unless the club was only in the PL for a year in which case they will only get one years worth), and they stop if they return before the three years is up. The payments are a sliding scale and are not impacted by any sales the club will make. I am not sure of the final figures but these are going to be in the ballpark - and taking your example of Newcastle, they will get: (a) 216/17: circa £0M, (b) 2017/18: circa £30M, and (c) circa £15M.

So if the club return to the PL at the end of next season, they will not get payment (c). Selling players has no impact on these payments, which are their to compensate for the lack of television and media income.

Aston Villa will get the same, but Norwich only a single £40M payment.}

11 Oct 2016 11:00:15
Thanks for the information ed2.

11 Oct 2016 16:12:07
Thanks Ed2 been wondering and thought it a silly question but also unfair to the other teams. Great reply cheers.

11 Oct 2016 09:01:54
Hi Eds

As much as I consider myself the biggest Sturridge fan over the last 3 seasons, I think he has been backtracking with regards to his performances and confidence infront of goal.
Now with the upcoming derby coming fast, we need to have a front man who has a little more sting keeping in mind that United probably have the best goalie in the league. To be quite frank with y`all, Danny would be my last pick behind firmino, origi and ings in that order.
I love Danny as a striker, I really do and on his day he`s probably the best in the league only behind Aguero but on current form plus adding the magnitude of the next match we have to drop him. We simply can't afford to lose against our dear brothers ;-)

Now question remains, what does the manager do to try and bring the old sturridge back? I think that he should be a definite starter atleast for the next 3 fixtures after the united game - west brom, palace and watford. If he fails to perform then surely he has to be dropped permanently and let firmino, origi and ings fight it out for the position.
Thats my opinion mates.

Cheers Guys!

11 Oct 2016 09:37:51
For me, its Sturridge or Firmino every game when we play a single striker. Origi is pushing hard and getting close. i'd like to see Origi and/ or Ings in cup games and when there's an injury they get their chance to nail down the striker role permanently.

11 Oct 2016 09:39:27
Klopp is not playing a system to suit the old Sturridge, he's trying to build a new system which is interchangeabe between the front three. the onus is on creating space for each other and running into the gaps. i don't think we'll see the same huge tallies again from 1 striker like we have in the past, he expects the whole team to take the opportunities created by that front 3. Him 'performing' won't be solely judged on his goals but more so his contribution as a whole .

11 Oct 2016 10:06:52
Calm down mate, you've jumped the gun. Forgetting that Bobby will almost certainly start anyway the old Studge hasn't gone anywhere. Since he came back from injury he's re-affirmed his place as Liverpool's best goal scorer, although he hasn't scored in the league yet this season it's only been a short dry spell as opposed to a sign that he's lost it. Furthermore, with the exception of the Burnley game, Liverpool have been excellent when he's played. The problem for Studge is that Klopp wants more from his No.9 than just goals and that's why Bobby currently holds the position. I reckon Studge is coming to terms with this and I think I've seen signs of him working for the team more when he plays, it is way too early to write him off.

11 Oct 2016 10:20:45
I think we have looked most dangerous when studge has played actually.
He might not be getting the goals but his movement and presence keep half the defence occupied while the likes of firmino, mane, coutinho and Lallana take full advantage.
It's clear he isn't fully match fit yet, but he still looks class and is helping the team create and get goals.

11 Oct 2016 10:57:52
I do understand what your saying but he really is making a difference, I think what it is with a lot of people is they look at a striker and the goal tally and then immediately judge. he brings so much more to the team then just goals, don't get me wrong I get it, I want to see him scoring again like he used to and I have no doubt it will happen, just a bit of patience I think with this one. give the lad time, he'll be just fine. the way I look at it, if he's playing well, which he is. there's no issues.

11 Oct 2016 11:29:10
Dan can keep playing the same role he played 3 years ago, just like most of our players he to is going through a change, he might not be hogging the show like he used to but his not as bad as made out to be, the team I repeat team is doing well and is a big part of that.

11 Oct 2016 12:33:46
Sturridge can't match firmino, couts, lallana and mane physically. Our system doesn't work when 1 player let's it down.

11 Oct 2016 12:34:43
It's real shame you cannot play both together unless you ask one of them to play wide. I would like to see Hendo -Can and Courinho playing in the middle against UTD with Firmino, Mane and Danny playing up top.

11 Oct 2016 13:22:27
Bon, the facts don't support that view. In the league Studge has played just 221 minutes as a striker, in that time we've scored 8 goals and conceded only 1. Our system has worked beautifully when Studge has played.

11 Oct 2016 14:07:28
Muscat, if Studge wants to dislodge Firmino, he will have to do EXACTLY what Firmino does and how he does it because if not, he will never start consistently over him. I didn`t say that, Jaime Carragher did, so did Graeme Souness and I agree. That is a fact. Also, I watched a youtube LFC Documentary about Klopp and his counter pressing system and a couple of analysts said they don`t think Studge is built to thrive in Klopp`s system as a CF as he is required to do a whole lot more than just score. He`s a very good player and the most natural finisher in England, period (Klopp is aware of all his immense talent and skill set, mind you) BUT that is not enough in a Klopp system. He did play very well vs LC as the striker and he, Firmino and Mane, played very well together. That is what he has to do now as Klopp has built a machine and Studge has to be a part of said machine. He will have to up his fitness levels, change the way he plays and do the hard graft required to thrive or he will be successful. I am not giving up on him tho as he`s too good a player for that.

11 Oct 2016 14:43:50
Hamilton, you seem to be violently agreeing with me.

11 Oct 2016 14:50:05
I can't disagree with that Hamilton Red, well said mate.

11 Oct 2016 18:08:32
Thanks LFC16. Muscat, globally I agree with you but it is not a direct correlation that because Studge started a few games, we scored 8 and conceded 1. Without him, we also scored 4 at Arsenal and 5 vs Hull (tho he came on and won a penalty) . He needs to adapt and hone his overall skill set to fit the Klopp system and if he can do that, he will be pushing Firmino. If not, Firmino all the way and it is not even close to being a debate.

11 Oct 2016 21:22:42
Hamilton, read my first post, you are repeating exactly what I said earlier. This is a very surreal conversation.

11 Oct 2016 08:07:58
I know some of you guys don't care about English national side, some may not even watch it. But for the others: be afraid, be very afraid, Slovenia will crush you tonight! :P

On a serious note, glad to see Henderson captain your team today. Yesterday he received 2 Liverpool FC Slovenia scarfs from one member of our supporters group, one was for him and the other one was for Daniel, at least that is what I have been told.

Good luck today.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

11 Oct 2016 08:29:24
Lol it actually wouldn't surprise me if Slovenia won haha! I won't be watching it.

11 Oct 2016 09:40:25
Id like to see all Liverpool players substituted for tactical reasons after 5 minutes and Rooney get 90 mins whichever position he likes. Good luck Slovenia.

11 Oct 2016 09:52:04
England and chances improved by benching Rooney.

11 Oct 2016 10:25:15
Your absolutely right - I don't care and I won't be watching. Club over Country for me every day of the week.

Annie has got it bang on!

11 Oct 2016 20:22:43
That's why Utd players who are expecting to start against us are not playing, like Smalling, Rashford getting very little game time when our boys are playing the full 90.

11 Oct 2016 01:49:46
Hi everyone!

Just thought I would introduce myself. For the last 4 years I have been that dirty bird in the tree outside your window with my binoculars, watching as the Eds serve up sarcasm pies to those silly sausages who ask the same questions over and over again.

Just today I have finally decided to take the plunge and register to show my gratitude to all of you that post on here regularly.

I am a little (a lot) obsessed with this site and look forward to the banter to come!
