hi eds dalglish is looking at bringing ramirez I have not seen much of him all i know is he is uruguayan, is he good and what posiotion does he play in , they say he is the upcoming kaka? thanks hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I have only seen him play a couple of times, both times I am sure he was on the right wing, but I was actually looking at someone else playing in the games and didn't take much notice of him sorry.}

Hi ed do you believe that in the next 2 years with the owners we have in place now that we can win trotheys and get quality players {Ed009's Note - I certainly do.}

Why do people ask these questions? As long as you believe it yourself what does it matter? If the ed said no would you go and support another team? I hate timewasters, bit like this reply lol

liverpool should sign this japanese guy asap....Takashi Usami.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0IQAZsJeug

Plays for Bayern

They would not sell him for less than £15m, i've said this before and i will say it again we are a million miles behind other countries in europe when it comes to picking up on talented Japanese players.

Pes 2012 database rankings for liverpool squad

pesdb.net/pes2012/index.php?filter_Team=%22MERSEYSIDE%20RED%22

Thanx for the link, i find some of it quite redicilous, suarez overall raiting 81?? thats complete crap, sad i know but that does my head in on pes, ive gone back to fifa!

billynwa

You can alter the player stats manually, takes 2 mins ... no need for the drastic action of going back to Fifa !?

all im gonna say is, wait till after the game before you guys come on the united site 'bragging'. gonna be a tough game for both sides. could be a draw, but as a united fan im gonna say id like us to win. but then again none of you guys are gonna agree with me on that. i just dont see the point in those select few liverpool fans coming and running their mouths when its down to the game.

Why do you go on a banter site if your going to bitch and moan?

Eds, do you guys know anything about this Michael Zacho kid from Denmark? I'm assuming no one knows much about him because he's only fourteen. However, Sky making a story out of him having a trial with Liverpool makes me think that he must be pretty good, right?

Great site by the way! I always enjoy the little bits of info you guys give and your bashing of daft statements (hopefully not mine)!

CSeiling {Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about him other than he impressed enough to be given a second trial. I wouldn't read much into Sky making a story out of it, most of the stories that get put out these days are written by someone involved. It is about lazy journalists getting a story ready-written handed to them that they can put their name to. I would suggest the lad's agent or father has written the story and sent it out to Sky and other press agencies. That is what I have done in the past, got meself on TV doing so once when it was picked up by local news. It is a very good way of getting free advertising for yourself.}

Just watching the first few mins of the Spain match.
Charlie and Fletcher aren't gonna see much of the ball tonight maybe. Lot of running to do !
Gerrard to start ?
The Real KB

This Spain team are a bit special - I said on here the other day how I don't like watching international football but this team are the exception. Best international team I have ever seen.

How would win in a game between Barcelona and Spain (pretending that any Barcelona players can play in both teams) and what would the possession stats be at the end?

JRG

When all players are fit arent both the barca and spain team the same just with casillas and ramos instead of valdes and alves.

GMN {Ed001's Note - are you forgetting Alonso?}

Silva, Torres, Casillas, Arbeloa, Mata, Alonso, Ramos......erm........

JRG

Totally forgot about alonso although he is missing from the scotland game. none of the other names mentioned from JRG have been regulars in the spain team except torres and he has been dropped from the starting 11 since the world cup.

GMN

That's funny because all the players I mentioned in my list started the previous away to the Czech Republic.

JRG

In a match that was irrelevant and alot of the squad players played that game. spain have done that in the last couple of games as they have already qualified from the group. albiol played in that game valdes carzola busquets played 2day. wouldnt say all of these are part of the starting 11.

GMN

And there is some lad from argentina called messi

Just an impassioned plea in the lead up to the game please Eds. Would you please not post, or at least edit, anyone's posts that refer to the Mancs as "The Sc*m" That title is, and should always be, reserved for one thing only, The S*n newspaper. any red worth his salt should know that. And if anyone needs me to explain why, they should have a long hard think about whether they are proper reds or not. It gets on my wick that after 22 years, some people still don't get it. And the same should go for Man*re while we're at it too please. And dare I say it, anyone referring to the air disaster should be banned for good. Apart from a few nobheads, a lot of Manc fans are far too decent to be called things like that. Sorry if anyone is offended by this, but it's the little things that make our supporters the best in the world.

Cheers,

AM

ed wit Junior Hoilett out of contract in the summer do you know of any interest in him from liverpool?and do you think he's good enough for us?i think he's potentially a great player,reminds me of Ashley Young and is still younger than when Young made his move to Villa from the Championship.cheers... {Ed001's Note - yes and yes.}

I mentioned him a while ago and Ed001 said he wasn't good enough.... I rate him. {Ed001's Note - he has improved immensely, though I am still not sure there is any chance of him joining, Sterling is still a better bet.}

Would love to see Hoilett come, I've been saying this for a while. Real dangerous player, could be a really good winger if he hones his game. He's been Blackburn's most dangerous player by a mile the last few times I've watched them. Decision-making needs to improve and if he was our only signing of January/the summer I'd be disappointed but as a cheap buy and one for the future he'd be great

No one wished Charlie Adam all the best for tonight ?
I'd like to see Xabi Alonso put Spain ahead with a halfway line lob.
Then Charlie equalise with an exquisite free kick, late on against the over-confident Spanish.
In the last minute Casillas to bring down Miller, in the process of which Casillas is injured (minor) but has to go off and Pepe is brought on.
Darren Fletcher takes resulting pen, saved miraculously by Pepe, tipped over. Match ends all square. Fletcher's confidence shot.
Adam at first devastated, then Scots learn that Lichenstein scored in the last minute to beat Czechs 2-1. Adam now delighted and inspired.
I'm looking forward to the match. And it's on terrestial telly :-D
The Real KB

Honestly, I feel so bad for Pepe. If Casillas wasn't captain maybe Pepe would actually have a chance to be Spain's number 1.

Eds
Who are the drivers of the possible new European super league ?
The old G14 clubs, or several high profile clubs ?
TV ?
Would they have to break away from UEFA, the Premier League and their respective Home FA's ?
And how may it affect international fixtures ?
If, as you say, it looks like a runner it could force a real drastic change in football administration. All the clubs may feel it would be something they could not afford to miss out on.
Or do the current football authorities accept it's inevitability and seek to embrace it somehow ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - This has been dealt with before to a certain extent, but: (1) A number of clubs take the opportunity a couple of times a year to discuss various issues including changes in rules, television rights, the power of UEFA, exploitation issues for new technology streams, etc. These discussions, the last of which were on August 25, also always turn to the possibility of a breakaway pan European league. Several are G14 clubs, several are not, and some clubs decline involvement in such discussions. (2) They would break away from their national leagues and UEFA. They accept that players would initially be banned from FIFA competitions as well, but know that FIFA would be looking to negotiate in any case. It would be the end of UEFA in all probability and UEFA are aware of this. It would also result in a restructuring of many of the national leagues. (3) They would renegotiate their television rights, rights of distribution via other streams etc.. (4) It is the greatest fear of UEFA – and all major national authorities are aware that one day it could happen.}

Merci beaucoup monsieur ed !
Me - I shall be donning my cloth cap and taking my whippet to watch Tranmere v Bury. Have a nice pie at half time, fish and chips and a pint of stout after the match. Then get the tram back home, ready for't pit in't morning.
Thanks ed anyway. Not trying to be funny but it'll be a shame if it happens.
The Real KB

Any idea on the clubs that want to break away and those that don't ed002?

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - It is probably 10 years away from happening so it is inappropriate to start naming the clubs involved, but I can tell you their were representatives from eleven clubs at the discussions on August 25.}

I'd be gutted if it happened, the champions league is a privilege that should be earned, sometimes teams don't make it sometimes they do and sometimes there are shocks and people get knocked out a super league would take all that away just seems pointless apart from a money making perspective

Sorry if i am fishing for info you don't wanna give out ed but could you say if it's the english teams or the forign teams pushing for it.

mikey

Last three times Liverpool met Man UTD @ Anfield.
6/3/2011 - Liverpool 3 United 1
25/10/2009 - Liverpool 2 United 0
13/9/2008 - Liverpool 2 United 1

Who got their ass whooped now typical clueless Scum!

A Liverpool starting XI consisting of their worst players would even win against Man UTD @ Anfield, You now what, Liverpool against Man UTD @ Anfield will be totally different class! No matter how good you are, how many trophy's you won recently You don't have any chance no chance at all @ Anfield.

Hi eds, great work! Do any of you know about hicks and gillette wanting compensation from nesv, and if so, how (if at all) would this affect the finances put into LFC if they were successful in doing so? Sorry if this has been questioned already. Roblfc86

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to go in to this too much, but H&G are looking at claims against NESV/FSG, Martin Broughton, the Liverpool board and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Of these, the only seemingly valid claim that they may have is against RBS and the rest is little more than clutching at straws. It will likely all boil down to a single case against the bank where they will seek compensation and I suspect there may be an out of court settlement eventually. I don't see it being resolved any time soon. There will be no impact on the club or the finances at all.}

Personally I would not put Coates in against United. Agree?

11 Oct 2011 13:55:55
ed is Agger out for the United game?
anyone else out? {Ed001's Note - Agger looks set to miss out, but he should be the only one absent, Johnson should be available, as should Kelly. Though they might not be deemed ready to face United.}

If Johnson and kelly are out, how do you see the defence lining up? flanno at RB, or Carra at RB with coates partnering Skertl? {Ed001's Note - I fully expect one of Kelly or Johnson to start, but if they were to miss out, I could see Flanagan getting the nod. Reason being, he doesn't shirk a challenge, United's winger pairing of Young and Nani don't like a hard physical battle. Carra will almost certainly partner Skittles.}

I just hope we don't play Skrtel at right back. They have Young taking up that flank. Enrique will have Nani covered, he is a very good defender and should close him down. Carra will marshall the troops, the only problem is the other Centre back issue. I hope Agger is fit, I hope Kelly plays this match and Johnson starts in the next. Can't afford to put Johnson in after just 5 weeks.

Why are liverpool getting linked with all these celtic players.Next thing we are going to hear is we are signing samaras as back up to andy carroll!
#idiots

LFC Forever!

Perhaps you could improve your squad by agreeing a straight swap deal for Samaras? Not sure Celtic will want Carroll, but because Kenny was so successful in is time as Celtic manager, perhaps he could pull some strings?

Sydney ;)

Did KK not take over as caretaker from Barnes & win the league cup or Scottish cup? Not bad for a caretaker.

The Irish Rover

Sydney - why would we want to sign an over the hill striker from Celtic who can only score goals in a poor league?
By the way - what is Henrik Larsson up to these days?

JRG

JRG - is that the same henrik Larsson that changed a champions league final in favour of the team losing 1-0 (although against 10 men) - the same henrik larsson that is universally regarded as one of the best strikers to play the game and had the highest goal tally in spl - the same henrik larsson who in his short time at united is regarded as the man that made the season for them that year? seriously of all the players to slate you choose the best player to grace the spl in the last 20 years who would have made any team better in his prime. your post is a joke

Paso

Paso - Larsson scored 3 goals in 13 games at Man U which is a worse record than Carroll's who everyone is quick to criticise even though he has been recovering from injury. I know that Carroll was signed for more money but I am just talking about their success on the field.

As for being a star of the SPL and 'universally regarded as one of the best strikers to play the game' (how do you know this? have you visited other life forms in the universe and asked them about Henrik Larsson?) don't make me laugh - from what you are saying Ally McCoist should be regarded as one of the best players in the world for his goal scoring record in Scotland. Does that mean players like Laudrup, Barry Ferguson, John Hartson and Mark Viduka should be considered world class also?

JRG

Before posting please get your facts correct: Phil Bardsley was Sunderlands player of the season NOT Henderson and David Vaughan was Blackpools player of the season NOT Charlie Adam.

But both Adam and Henderson were clearly leagues ahead of Vaughan and Bardsley.

Martin

So you'd rather we bought Phil Bardsley and David Vaughan?

maka

11 Oct 2011 11:34:00
Just to put another fact straight: Charlie Adam was NOT Blackpools player of the season last year, it was DAVID VAUGHAN.

There wasn't much in it between Adam and Vaughan. Plus Adam had a £10m valuation of his set-piece deliveries alone by Slur Alex :-)

Common, Adam & Henderson vs Vaughan & Bardsley? Perhaps you manc w@nks should have taken Bardsley back if he is so good. You actually need an avg right back now with your terrible twins....

11 Oct 2011 11:24:56
Its not very often I disagree with you ed. but on this occasion I do. If you ask any most Sunderland supporters (and I know lots having moved from the north-east) about Henderson they will tell you that he was only very average and they were shocked when we paid almost 16m for him - FACT!! {Ed009's Note - We shall have to wait and see. I think his energy and selfless play is a key component of any team. You won't see his doing dazzling reverse passes and runs ala Silva but he will keep moves going and retain possession for the team and give his all for the full ninety minutes. Every team needs the simple players as a foil for the glamorous ones.}

Everybody always slated Lucas for years but now hes got to be one of the first names on the team sheet every week. I never slated him because i get behind whoever the manager picks but i never thought Kuyt was good enough, but when we were on that poor run last season i seen why he gets picked every game, he never gives up and was one of the only ones who gave his all every week, i would now hate for Kuyt or Lucas to leave the club. We are now building for the future to me Henderson now is a far better prospect that what Lucas was at that age. We all know hes never gonna be like Ronaldo but works hard for the team, there have been glimpses of what hes capable of. Hes a young lad who KK made his first signing, Steve Bruce didnt want to see go and Stuart Pearce made England U21 captain, These 3 managers see huge potential in the lad.

Henderson was not bought for what he is. He was bought for what he will be in 3-4 years time. Liverpool's next midfield trio will be led by Lucas with Henderson and Shelvey Just wait a couple of years and see. RED LENIN

I only know 2 sunderland supporters and they were both gutted to lose Jordan. The ones you know might be bitter still at losing him

This site has turned stale recently. I say this bc nobody can make a comment without first judging whether the original post was by a manc and that brews angry and resentful thoughts. I understand it's annoying to have them pollute our site with their cheek but we need to ignore it and show some class. We're the most passionate fans in the world and that's exactly what the scum are looking to exploit by getting us all worked up. Let's get worked up- but with the positive energy that drew us to supporting LFC in the first place and stop fueling their egos. It's the same on the pitch as our boys need to know when we play with that spirit nobody- not any club anywhere- can match us. Let's back our team to represent the LFC way this wknd by charging up our own spirits. Cmon mates... it's that time of the year so what do you say we get this show started! YNWA AZKOP

11 Oct 2011 11:02:50
Please get your facts right: Henderson was NOT Sunderlands player of the season last season. The Mackems could not believe we paid around 16m for him. Henderson and Adam are just not good enough and you might as well throw Carroll into this group as well - money wasted KK. {Ed001's Note - it's funny, while he was at Sunderland they worshipped him, as soon as he left they all said he was crap anyway. So I really wouldn't take any notice, just like I wouldn't of your nonsense.}

In the 2009“10 season, Henderson broke into the Sunderland first team and made several Premier League appearances. He scored his first senior goal for the club against Birmingham City in the Carling Cup third round. He then went on to score his first Premier League goal against Manchester City on 19 December 2009.

Henderson spent the majority of the season on the right side of midfield but played centrally in the absence of Lee Cattermole; his versatility and consistency earning him a new five year contract on 23 April 2010, keeping him with the club till 2015. He also went on to win the Young Player of the Year award for the 2009“10 season.

Henderson's first full season with Sunderland was a major success. He won one personal accolade, scored two goals in all competitions and managed six assists.

2010“11 Henderson made a solid start in pre-season, scoring two goals, both away from home against Leicester City and Hoffenheim respectively. Days later, on 13 August his squad number was changed from 16 to 10. Henderson's early season form caught the eye of many observers, most notably Fabio Capello who made Henderson a part of his senior squad to face France on 17 November 2010. Henderson helped Sunderland to an unbeaten run of games against big clubs such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all of whom have since reportedly registered an interest in the player. Henderson went on to score his first goal of the season in the 1“0 win over West Ham United.

On 13 January 2011, Henderson was listed on the official FIFA website as one of thirteen young players to watch in 2011, he ranked alongside Manchester United's David de Gea and Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku. FIFA also added Henderson is "Composed, athletic and powerful". Henderson has also been hailed as the best young British footballer there isť by his Sunderland manager, Steve Bruce.

Henderson scored twice against Wigan Athletic on 23 April 2011, as Sunderland ended a run of 8 games without a win. Henderson was again named Sunderland's Young Player of the Year for the second season running.

And Carroll was the geordies new Shearer! Now he is an ox-cart?

I agree with you ed its the same with Villa fans they voted Downing player of the year then when he leaves he was over rated, over priced inconsistant and there glad hes been replaced by N'Zogbia

I'm loving all the other pages recently created (games talk, F1 etc).

Just wondering if we could have another for PC's, Gadgets and Tech.

It would be good to talk about this stuff as well and maybe have common (or even weird) questions/problems solved.

For example, I have a question about mkv video files, embedded subtitles and srt files. {Ed001's Note - yes they are coming up soon, first one being finished off right now is for Android products.}

Hi eds is there anything that could stop the super league from happening? And why will it defo happen because of financial reasons?

I just thought if fifa reduce the amount of internationals then this breakaway league would not happen.

Thanks

mighty reds {Ed001's Note - it is up to UEFA as well, this whole Champions League joke of having top 4 from some leagues in it was all about appeasing the big boys. I really can't see anything stopping it long term, too much greed involved, just like with the Prem, it is all greed.}

In my humble opinion the UEFA and the Champions league should be combined. It should then be not seeded, straight knock-out, one leg, decided on the night by Extra Time & pens if needs be. - Sudden death. If there is a need to stream the 'big boys' then do the same as the FA Cup and introduce them at a later round. For instance the actual domestic Champions enter at round 3 for example.

Lets have a look at our summer signings

Adam - Average good at a pass and can shoot but no Alonso

Henderson - Young but i just don't see a great player just another mid table player

Enrique - needs to find a t shirt that fits other then that a top player.

Downing- Good winger well worth the money

Bellamy- free transfer well worth it better then other signings.

Coates- all im going to say is we should have bought Cahill because Carra has been past it for 5 seasons.
{Ed009's Note - Your point about Coates is a joke, he is already far better than Cahill at 5 years younger. Henderson is also being made into a scapegoat despite having shown signs of his ability, work rate and desire just a few months into his Liverpool career.}

We have to believe some players who many of us wanted LFC to sign were looking for clubs who can offer them Champions League football or someone who can offer them 70k or 90k per week wages. Unlike many of our summer signings who are just on wages as less as 40k-60K per week.
The main focus of our summer spending was to reduce the enormous wage bill & to raise the over all quality of the squad, something the club have done excellently and can be proved when you compare the squad last season and this season.
We had Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic, Ngog, Kyrgiakos, Cole, who are on fat wages and offered as little as nothing on the pitch. We replaced them with Adam (player of the season at Blackpool & PFA player of the year contender), Enrique (Newcastle's player of the season & one of EPL's best left-back last season), Downing (Villa's player of the season), Bellamy (better than crappy Ngog, still with pace & trickery who can change a game on free), Henderson (Sunderland's player of the season), & Coates (Copa America's young player of the tornament).
Won't they improve the team? Of course most certainly.
Speaking of the great Alonso & the rest of great players we haven't replaced, i don't think wee need to replace anyone as long as the team is wining & improving every player has his own identity.
Without getting into Champions League we have very little chance of attracting top players of the game! We have to make sure we get there & we will with amount of quality we brought into the squad!

Coates?? I bet you'll one day come on this site and would be saying, what a bargain he was at 8 million. Reminds me of hyypia, when many were saying waste of money on him. and what a class, he was. I believe all of the new signings would prove to be good for us. YNWA

Coates is no way near as good as cahill... not proven yet so how anyone can say he is, is a joke.

let him play 20+ games before comparing him with anyone.

Cahill is better then any Liverpool defender have to disagree with you guys

Even danny wilson is better than cahill. he has no positional sense n always hoofs the ball. Another overhyped british player.

I have read somewhere that mata was willing to come to Liverpool and commoli wanted him but Kenny thought Henderson was better in my opinion a sack-able offence.

I really hope this isn't true. Really hope. Eds? Heard anything to this effect or is it nonsense?

Ash {Ed009's Note - He was of course willing to join if the right package could be presented, as we know. I think it is far too simplified to look at it as a case of one player or another though. Perhaps Dalglish knew that if we went head to head with Chelsea - who would offer Champions League football and higher wages - we would not win.}

It must be true if you have 'read it somewhere' - you cannot get a more respectable or reliable source than that! I will get the petition started to have Kenny sacked!.........

If we had bid for Mata then no doubt Chelsea would have either matched our bid or outbid us. Chelsea could offer Champions League football, higher wages and a more competitive team.

We are currently not in the position to buy these type of players but I fully expect us to finish in the top 4 this season and the we can start to attract players from the higher end of the market. Until then, support the players who are here as they are the ones we are relying on to get us into that fourth place.

Then its a good job for all the proper Liverpool fans who get behind the team that your opinion doesnt count for s**t. Your manager Fergie didnt bid for Sneider does that mean he should be sacked aswell and Villas boas cos he didnt get Modric. When you leave school dont go into a job of hiring and firing cos youll be working 24-7

Being close transfer season have only been on site sporadically, so forgive me if comments already been discussed at length. I believe stewart downing was a definite improvement (£20 mill not so sure) on what we had, but, have to express my concerns regarding his vociferous contributions in the media. I believe he will potentially add a lot to the squad, as long as he lets his football talk for him. First few games, looked the part when occupying a wing role and was arguably our best player, yet, the last few games i feel he has had about as much of an impact as henderson (played out of position so far, altho arguably seen as a natural successor to stevie g). Downing may b a good player, tho seriously doubt he is lfc material, but in my opinion he talks far more than produces. Know jury is out on big Andy, he looks fit and hungry (neva £35.mill tho) but if no wing delivery, how r we playin to his strengths? Suarez dogs boll****, enrique a good buy, the rest......juries out. Still believe johnson right wing (when fit) with john flanagan or martin kelly is best option. Downing tho talks more than he is delivering.

Don,t you like Downing then?

Don't actually mind downing tbh, do believe he is talking too much, whilst not really being seen to produce much. Also believe as a winger, should be playing on the wing, beating his man (which he is more than capable of doing) and whipping in the crosses, which again he doesn't seem to be doing. Don't get me wrong, lot of new players and need time to gel, footy is better to watch, but still don't seem to have sorted out the 'wing' situation, despite amount of investment made. Carroll needs a supply, right now he is surviving on crosses from the fullbacks not the 'wingers', which is ironic as downing can deliver a superb ball. To answer your question, yes, like Downing....as a winger, but still believe he is talking too much when delivering very little.

why the hell would we want to be informed of the players situation if we have no intention of signing him, come on Eds, surely we must seriously want him {Ed001's Note - clubs ask to be kept informed about players all the time, it means little.}
