Not to worry lads. We did it the right way and if we add a few more players maybe we can win it next time.

In the end it seems the chelsea match was pretty crucial

Gutting but beaten by a very good team.

We go again, it seems

Hi All,

To echo thoughts, I am in agreement that we have had great season.

Yes, we have challenged To the last game of the season,

Yes, we have battled and all bar Man C come out on top against the so called richer clubs where the difference has been 2 points and goal difference.

In Man City we have battled a team of world class established talent consisting of Aguero, Silva, Kompany, Toure and arguably Negredo, Hart list could go on.

At LFC we have a list of stars in the making. It is scary to think that the likes of Hendo, Flanagan, Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho, Allen could improve. Suarez is arguably not at his peak. We are a team in the process of forming the backbone of a team (Man C already have theirs') as per the names mentioned.

Anyway, I guess I am trying to say that we are a team in development where positive times are upon Our Club. Boy have we been waiting for this for a long time.

Congrats to the ever faithful who go to support the team and sing their hearts out week-in week-out who have have further enhanced the reputation of being the best fans in the world.

Peace!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, 2 years ago we were nowhere with an ageing squad.

Now we are the 2nd best team in the country with a squad, as young as the previous one was old, and playing creative attacking football.

Agree0 Disagree0

A City fan on a phone-in asked which Liverpool players would get in City's side. He would have had Suarez up top with Aguero but no-one else. When you think about it he's got a point - and I'm sure this would be the view of most neutrals. Shows how well we have done to get within 2 pts of them. Personally I think Hendo & Sterling could improve their best XI BTW.

Agree0 Disagree0

Demichelis wouldn't start for Liverpool, so one of our centrald efender would replace him.

I think sterling would be in ahead of nasri and navas. personally int erms of this season alone, I think flanno for large parts has been better than kolorov and clichy

Message to suarezisagenius, I just noticed you posted another reply to my reply to you re Gerrard.
You say I don't address any of your points but I thought I had answered these in earlier posts, anyway we are never going to agree but in my opinion Gerrard has played very very well this season in the position you say he cannot play, defensive midfielder. You say it is obvious he will have many assists this season as he has taken loads of free kicks, well not necceserily, another 2free kick assists today which could have easily ended up in the kop but they didn't they created goals.

As I have already stated earlier in this thread many in the football game, experts some would say agree with me and as you will recall one of my main gripes with fellow poster EMS was a certain comment he only recently made re Gerrard which I feel was way over the top. Anyway as you suggest we both want the same thing and will I guess support the reds for ever. After all it's a game of opinions, in this instance we clearly don't agree.
By the way my support of Gerrard is not in any way trying to prove I am some sort if uber fan, it is what I truly believe and what I have witnessed first hand for myself this season.
You too will never walk alone,
Cheers
Alan

Good man Alan, YNWA m8.

Great crosses today from Stevie too. Wicked delivery alright. Even I might have scored one of those, and believe me, that's saying something!

We were shoddy today but still got the job done. A good sign, that's the type of match we would have drawn or lost in the past. Not for the first time either.

Cheers to the lads for sending us into the summer with a win. A loss against Newcastle would have been a deflating end.

Onwards and upwards. Here's to an exciting transfer window and a mighty 14-15.

19 leagues and 6 european cups has a nice ring to it. hehe.

Take care pal. I look forward to reading your posts over the months ahead:)

Well done supporters. They couldn't've done it without you!

Thanks eds for giving us this forum to share the fun with each other :)

Question:
Johnson first choice for England 11?
Who else is there?

What a great season, every player gave their all and as fans we cannot ask for anymore. We looked exhausted in our last 4 or 5 games and I think having such a small squad has cost us the title.

For those rivals writing us off next season and assuming this is a one off consider this:

In the last 19 games of last season and the whole of this our record reads;

Played 57 won 36 drawn 12 lost 9 points 120.

I am not saying we will win it next year but we will not be far off. It is all about the right signing now, not how much they cost but just the right ones in the correct positions.

Well done boys and thank you BR, you have done us proud!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

LFC accumulated 48 points in the last 19 games of the season - incredible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Defensive rebuild and that title is there for the taking maybe even the Champions League

====================================

Its statements like this that really worry me . next year its going to be so much harder to get into the top 4, our lacklustre performances in the last 4 games is due to players being tired. Over the long season, I think we used the same 14/15 players in something like 44 games, at high intensity games where the style is all about pace and energy, no wonder the players got tired. With the champions league next season we need much bigger squad, we need at least 5 more high quality players; in defence, middle and certainly a forward. let's be realistic, Suarez was n't his usual self in the last few games, but he was never substituted ; why, because there is no one on the bench anyway near his quality and his style . where city and chelsea can take a star striker and replace him by another, we could n't .
By the way this is not a dig, the opposite, its more reasons to be proud of Brendan and the team, they have certainly over achieved.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Roy totally. What I will say is that there are players there to generate funds that haven't contributed too much in this campaign. So hopefully not a massive outlay needed from Fsg.

Just back from Anfield and, as always, proud to be a red today.
My personal point is however, I've been one of his biggest fans since getting his name on the back of my shirt, but what a player Jordan Henderson is. Stand-out player today, really, really good and I believe his legs (or the loss of them through suspension) lost us the title. He is as vital a player in the team as any. Don't know who everyone else thinks but he's the next Liverpool captain for me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Said this earlier top top player he makes us tick andcovers everyone just energy all the time really belive if he didn't get suspended we would be champions now

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree, Hendo really is an unsung hero. When he was banned I thought we would have enough to cover him with Lucas and Allen, but I was wrong. Not sure what you think but when we are notin possession he chases that ball as though his life depends on it. I think that is the mentality Brendan is trying to instill. Great performance from him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive thought that for a while. His suspension will be something to learn from and with the extension in gerrards career due to his new position it will give him time to mature.

From a 16m flop to potential future captain is some turnaround in 1 season.

Great season by our team. BR has done a brilliant job so far.

Never expected us to compete for the top spot like we have. I was gutted we didn't manage to quite make it but so happy for second.

Hope we can keep what we have and just add some more quality on the bench and at the back.

Adam lallana would be a great edition IMO and I hope we give the youth a chance at the back with the likes of wisdom etc.

Can't fault any players this season and personally think Flano was brilliant.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Flank has been top drawe but not having a natural left footer at left back has it's shortcomings, something which BR realised an addressed at half time today.

Thanks Eds for keeping this site going my previous post seems to have disappeared before I finished it but just wanted to praise the boys for giving it a mammoth go and trying to do in style. I believe it was One defeat, Three Draws and Fifteen wins in the last 19 matches and it still wasn't quite enough this season! I would take that form every year and every second half of the season! Fantastic effort from Brendan, Stevie and the team and congrats to all the players and backroom staff! Well done to Man City I suppose and we will just have to keep on believing! Great work EDS and big appreciation for all the time and effort you guys put in to the site! LFC forever YNWA

Great, great season. Well done one and all and to think if the referee had got the decision right at the Etihad, that one more goal to us would have been an extra point and 2 less for them. Then we would be champions. It was that close, so well done one and all. Come the day when television replays are made available to referees that kind of mistake would be a thing of the past and we would get the innumerable penalties we seem to miss out on - at least 3 in the Palace game. I do not think it evened itself out over this season. Most MoD commentators seemed to talk about the nailed on penalties we were denied week after week. TV replays work well in rugby, the flow of the game is not disrupted and the players and fans know the right decision has been made so there is less dissent. We have the proven technology, so bring it on; the sooner the better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And if Norwich won all 38 games they would be champions. Ifs buts and maybes mate. You just can't look at it like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really mate, city have had a lot of very questionable decisions in their favour this year to the point where I though they were bribing the refs!

But the reason that the saying 'whoever is top at the end deserves it' is because it all evens out at the end of the year.

You win some, lose some, don't deserve some, have some snatched away, get lucky, get unlucky.

It all evens out, we weren't the better side. Skrtel has been tugging shirts all year and got away with murder, particularly his handball in the last minute against city, so that evens that one out. We have been riding our luck the last few games and it caught up with us in the end.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol unreal, and people wonder why other supporters laugh and mock

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs fans have no problem understanding why other fans laugh and mock.

Agree0 Disagree0

You would know The Word, you are very close to being included in the dictionary as a synonym of "laughing stock".

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2014 09:57:26
(12 penalties for you 5 more than any other team)

i think you have had your fair share lads, Hopefully next year is your year right?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes but then we get in the box more than other teams, so the number is only proportional to that.}

And what does having won more penalties have to do with other than poor refereeing on one or two occasions and poor defending by the opposition on a number of occasions, and ofcourse that we get into the box to to affect such a decision.

It's like you know nothing about football.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 18:57:22
great season! Our aim was to get a champs league, which we have done and we also challenged for the title the whole season, playing some fantastic football in the process.
special shout outs to gerrard, saurez, sturridge, sterling and hendo I've loved watdching them play

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 May 2014 18:42:23
As well as getting Champions League football we have gained something else that makes me happy and that is RESPECT!

I've even seen a couple of posts on the Man U page saying that we was unlucky etc.

The amount of praises that I've got this season relating to our boys has been nothing short of amazing!

Everyone's now knows how deadly we are on front of goal and I can't wait to see how we do against Europes elite!

Bring on next season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very unluckey some bad defeats like Aston Villa City at the Ethiad Crystal palace you would of had the title won

Well done Liverpool been a while since we were hammering teams throughout the season and made me so happy many times. Really disappointed with missing out but I'm loving how we dominate so many games and have scored a sh*t load of goals. Great season, played some superb football, just needs some additions for next season, would like to see us go for Lalana, Schneiderlin, Varane, Pedro for a start,
Johnson, Skrtel, Enrique, Lucas, Aspas, Borini, Wisdom, Kelly, Brad Jones, Agger

Still not convinced with Sahko either and obviously Mosos and Cissoko to go, so very important we buy better quality players than in previous transfer windows and have a good strong in depth squad for next season.

If you're second you're Liverpool, if you're Spurs you're Arsenal's shadow

Enjoy the Europa League :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ref mike, the league is won and lost over 38 game not selective individual moments.

Yes we had a chance but it wasn't to be. If all teams dissected and rectified the ifs buts and maybes then no team would lose a game, and we know this is factually impossible!

I think we should be proud of the endeavour shown this year both by the players and management. it's been a huge learning curve for both and we've benefitted by watching some of the best football seen in years. We ran out of steam, but no biggy!

Have a beer, reflect, have a holiday then strap yourselves in for next season!

Talk to me when your lot finish 2nd and are disappointed with it.

Don't worry, my Grandad's still living independently at 96 years of age, so there's good genes in my family.

Agree0 Disagree0

The spurs fans should be neither seen nor heard after their disastrous transfer window and their debacle of a season. They considered 20 goals to two teams alone. Guess wich team one of them was. Hint: Finished 2nd in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bill Shankly was correct in what he said and still rings true today. We have now qualified for the first time in that long, even Spurs have been in it whilst we have been in transition. Obviously that Spurs team did contain Gareth Bale and even he could only get you's to qualify once.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha yes word. But you should hear what he said about finishing 6th!
And when we win the prem for the first time next year and the champions league again we'll let you know how 1st feels!

Agree0 Disagree0

The word.Good luck with Timmy mallet in charge.

Maybe he can play mallets mallett to decide who he signs, might have better luck with that method, let's face it it could get much worse with the garbage you signed last summer. Your best signing wants to leave, great season well done Spuds.

When was the last time Spurs finished 2nd?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 17:56:31
Ed1,

Do you think that Martin Kelly has a future at the club (perhaps as a back up CB next year assuming Agger and Skrtel leave)?

Also, if you don't mind, who do you see leaving the club this summer?

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - probably not, unfortunately, but if anyone will give him a chance to change that it is Rodgers. Flanno was on his way out the door last summer, and now look at him!
Hard to say for sure, other than Coates and Reina, as a lot will depend on who comes in. Johnson, Skrtel, Agger and Enrique are all seen as parts that need replacing. Obviously Assaidi is almost certain to leave and Coady may well go too.}

I second that list of departures.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001,
If replacements are found, currently at the club or we buy them, could we see Johnson, Skrtel, Agger and Enrique leave?
That would be a serious transformation of our defence.
Could mean that next year we won't hit the ground running because the defence needs to get used to eachother.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is certainly possible, though it wouldn't be as big a change as it looks on paper. Flanagan and Sakho would still be in the defence.}

Ilori, Sakho, Flano, Wisdom, Toure would all still be here

RB no ins: Wisdom, Flano, Mclaughlin
CB: need 1 starter + Sakho, Toure, Ilori, Jones, Paez
LB: need 1 starter + Smith (flano)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haych has it nailed on by the looks of the list. I suspect that we will once again go for the Greek kid from the Bundesliga. I unfortunately don't mean the one from Dortmund, who is top drawer.

Hi eds, I've been reading for years, never posted before.
Just wanted to say how proud I am to be a Liverpool fan, we play amazing attacking football, and we're back in the champions leauge. This is probably the best Liverpool team I've ever had the joy to watch & I can't wait till Next season. Well done city! And well done brendon and the boys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Props to City and their fans. They had a little bit more than we did and truely deserved their success. I have had a blast of a lifetime watching the team play this season w/ the way we completely outplayed teams while at the same time haningd out a boat load of beat-downs to many teams and making some fans and haters eat some serious crow this year. Let`s get a good TW and off-season prep and get ready to go again next season. We`re on the move!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - great football, finished far higher than I thought possible and pure excitement on a roller coaster of emotion. We may have just missed out on the title, but that should be the trigger to drive the whole club on to do better in future.}

End of the year, end of season summary needed.

Well what a season it was. Today was a slight anticlimax but I think that's the result of us, city chelsea and arsenal slogging it out til the last day.

We achieved what we set out to achieve, and I honestly don't feel falling short is a bad thing. The struggle and heartbreak will improve the entire team and they will be more thirsty than ever for sliverware next year, they will know what must be done.

As will the manager. He has been tested in different circumstances this year, and will know how to adapt to different situations next year. He is also still learning.

We had been riding our luck a lot this season, when that shouldn't really have been neccassary. The right side of defence, both skrtel and johnson, have been an absolute calamity and have had to be carried through games at times. I cannot fault skrtel for trying and definately has a claim to stay, but johnson is just an imbecile and the definition of weak link. He hasn't looked bothered or interested in football all season and should not be given any kind of new contract.

A bigger squad will help out a lot next season, with several players coming back from loan and several top additions supposedly being made in the summer.

But Liverpool are now back on the map. Everyone knows our name and fears us, and there are seemingly very few players out of reach (for footballing reasons). The revolution is in full swing and I can't wait for europe next year.

I think the quote 'we go again' will have a twisted idea of fate about it next year, in that we go again next year and succeed.

Proud of the boys (minus johnson) and long may it continue to next year.

YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

All the boys deserve credit including those that I think sould no longer be here (Skrtl and GJ for sure). The Newcastle game just showed again that Skrtl is a complete liability and should go along with Johnson. #Wegoagain!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im proud of every player, good or bad, who trys. But don't tell me someone with johnsons undoubted ability can't have such an air of disgrace after letting the team down so much, forcing them to carry him, and just generally not looking like giving a flying fish about any game this season. I haven't seen one monkey given this year by johnson.

Critisism against skrtel is annoying me, he has been our best defender hands down this season sometimes makes wrong decisions and over commits but I've seen like 4 posts saying he HAS to go. Why I love agger but why would skrtel have to go and not agger or Sakho? We are Liverpool fc and our players have done us proud all season yet seconds after the season people call for our best defenders head it's quite pathetic! Rant over.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 May 2014 17:41:25
Its because style wise Agger, Sakho and Toure suit us more than Skrtel. Few are saying the BR has had to adapt the style to suit Skrtel, with the defense dropping deeper to cover for him. His highlight moments of big tackles and bigger headers overshadow the other elements of his game like his general play leading to him needing to make challenges that look more impressive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Flanagans been our best defender!

Agree0 Disagree0

Skrtle is not good enough mate, come on.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 18:14:54
No it's usually a full backs mistake that leads to skrtel making more 'impressive tackles' And how exactly does Sakho technically suit us more? He is sloppy with tackles very often late more times out of position then in position and he isn't great on the ball either. Skrtel is still our best centre half regardless of his technique, the point I'm making anyway is why minutes after the season of which he has been very good everyone is instead calling for his head rather then being happy with the job he did. And Flanagan has been top notch but he hasn't been our best defender he is often hasty and let's players run past him with ease it's something he will improve on as he's young but not a chance he's been better then skrtel that's a silly statement

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - still our best? He has never been our best at any time! Today he nearly crippled Lucas charging into him because he is too rash and still doesn't know how to open his mouth and talk to his team mates.}

Skrtel has been excellent this season, but we are back in the CL and it is time to upgrade a few players now we can attract top quality.

We need to ensure that we go into next season defensively stronger so that we can compete at that level and remain at that level for years to come.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

People have been calling for his head all season mate. He at least makes an effort and gives 100% unlike some players. Also chipped in with some goals so that's got to be applauded. But in reality we conceded 50 goals, almost twice as many as Chelsea. A lot of that has got to do with skrtle and Johnson, not just individual errors but a general lack of being able to defend properly at such a high level, more of an effort and concentration thing for Johnson.

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously, scoring 4 ogs and making rash challenges as well as getting caught out of position time and again (leading to the ogs) has taught you nothing. If he`s still our best defender then you need to quit watching football and watch rugby because that`s where he belongs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Skrtl`s job is to defend and communicate w/ his defenders and GK but feels like he has to do everything and in the end, does nothing. His erratic performances have lasted long enough and needs to go. Scoring goals don`t mean squat if he can`t do his fundamental job and keep them out.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that Skrtel has been the best defender of a bad bunch.

I know ed01 doesn't like his lack of vocal leadership, but who has been better over the course of the season?

Toure and Agger both lost their places due to injuries & poor form whilst Sakho has been wildly inconsistent and is still getting to grips with the game in England.

Of the fullbacks, Enrique has been injured as has Kelly, Johnson is diabolically bad, Cissokho missed a chance to impress and turned in some poor performances, and Flanno, whilst achieving a great deal considering his limitations and enjoying some very good performances, has also made many errors and been very poor in others. He has a lot to learn.

Shocking, but Flanno has been perhaps our 2nd best defender. Who would have thought that would be the case?

I won't blame Skrtel for the OG today either. Could have happened to anyone.

Well done lads! Quality season. Well done City too. Are there any people still in favour of Skrtel?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I love the physicality he brings to the defence but he is sloppy. He gives away too many bad back passes and own goals. He looks vulnerable when defending set pieces and I am surprised he is not pulled up more for making grapple tackles in the penalty area. Time to move on although he has been the best of a half bad bunch this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well done indeed, an excellent season for us. More things to look forward.

Congratulations to Man City too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Manager started the last game of the season with the defence we had before he came (missing Enrique but he is injured). So he hasn't improved our defence with all the money he spent on defenders last summer

Agree0 Disagree0

BR needs to look at himself in that regard and improve the defence. He`s made his mistakes and will hopefully, learn from them although, having a settled back four would have helped a lot this year.

Congratulations City, well deserved. Loved every moment of this season. We just lacked maybe that bit of experience at the end. But now we have built a great base, just a few areas to improve now. Brendan will have also learnt a lot, he is still young. In his 5th season of management, he is now 2nd to the wealthiest club in the world, and has beaten a two time european champion, with leagues and cups in 4 different countries. Not bad, eh?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said! BR has made huge strides and lke the team, is still learning his trade and that bit of experience hurt us at the tail end. Credit to the team and the fans for their supporters. interesting conversation with a Mank just. "You were where we are now last season". We weren't. We had a great young manager, a young squad with the best striker in the world and some of the best young talent in the league. Great season and were on the up still. We need 3-4 players to add to the loan returners and we will be challenging again. Today was typical of our season, defended poorly and needs addressing but we've scored 101 goals. Thanks ed's and reds for a top season, next season will be just as good if not better, were on the up and just a few players away from success so let's all be optimistic.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Defended poorly again, how many games is that, change the whole back 4, bring in Cahill, break the bank and make him captain, majority of best CMs are and have been English, let's find some and move on and get The Pool back to the top where we belong, Liverpool till I die

Agree0 Disagree0

We were where Manchester United were, 5 years ago.

Now, we are ahead of them. That is all.

Agree0 Disagree0

More like they are where we were about 4 seasons back. Ageing squad, 1 big player who can't carry the team, a group of other good players not performing, and just looking generally bad. Here's hoping they make the same mistakes we did as well.

Bring Lori back from loan and.give him a run of pre season games with sako who is potentially top drawer with.right partner. Johnson, I really hope is allowed to leave with skrtl. Give McLaughlin and kelly a shot at RB, look at Flanagan. A top LB does need to be bought, rojo is not top drawer yet' but he can e excellent and can also cover CB. Lallana looks a possibility, so i'd bring suso, borini and ibe back from loan and let them flourish. Lallana, rojo and a wideplayer and we push on again o

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rojo is a centre back that can cover left back. Personally, i'd prefer a natural left back brought in.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

Red rum, clearly you haven't watched rojo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rojo HAS played center back for atleast 2 seasons at sporting & this season has mainly filled in at left back make no mistake he is good there but he'd prefer to play center back

Agree0 Disagree0

Ilori and Rojo was a regular centre back pairing at Sporting for the second half of last season.

Would I like to bring in Rojo as competition for Sakho? Yes, if Agger is to leave, but I would also like to see us bring in a left back.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a recognized RB and LB and not CB`s who can fill in at fullback positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rojo and Cole makes sense to me. We could be losing a lot of experienced players so some of that will need to be replaced. Cole still has a lot to offer. He's a winner and that's what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well unless I've missed something rojo can't be THAT good. We need a centre back with balls, that is good in the air and a leader, but is calm, collected and calculating. Basically what there isn't a lot of in the world, but another random foreign centre back doesn't cut it for me.

Top 5 positives we can take from this season?

1. Sterling, suarez and sturridge.
2. The mancs got whacked all over the place, and will be watching the champions league on the tv.
3. Maureenio won nought. money well spent and looks proper unhappy.
4. Were back with a bang, with european nights at anfield. Chelsea will be back with their famous plastic flags.
5. Everton made a lot of noise, but as usual are left picking up the coins their fans threw at suarez to make their next big money signing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree apart from Everton comment. Bring on champions league and prem league next season. Looking forward to our buys too and hope that we sell Johnson.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 16:22:53
Its not all the centre backs fault we have let in the goals our style of play requires our full backs to push up at every good oppurtunity to have more play in the final third hence our enormous goal tally but sometimes we get caught out and with the centre backs isolated we let in goals, stevies distrubution on the ball has been fantastic but sometimes he wanders and because he lacks the pace he once had he can't always help, city have probably the best CDM in the world which is why they have let in fewer but I like our system its very exciting and gives us lots of chances, we need 3 real quality players the best we can afford in a LB, CDM and a LM but I know this is not easy as competition is fierce but I hope we can be patient and get only those players that can make the difference rather than buying or loaning mediocrity that is only if we want to progress in the next phase, anyways loved this season and hope we get better every year which should be our aim :)

Martin Skrtel needs to go. We need a defender who doesn't score 4 own goals in a season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very poor goal to concede, his positioning and shape was all wrong. I agree he has to go maybe he can take Johnson and Aspas with him, not really good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aspas hasn't been given enough of a chance but Johnson is awful.

Agree0 Disagree0

A light breeze could knock Aspas over and the fall could possibly kill him, he has plenty of drive and effort but he is simply not good enough for this league he's not physically strong enough. As for Johnson, if we continue to play the way we have been playing, he needs to work very massively on his defensive duties and his passing which have left us exposed a lot of the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kieran shouldn't our fitness staff be helping Aspas to bulk up and a devine intervention couldn't make Johnson a quality defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Strength and conditioning for Aspas would take an eternity to show any sign of improvement and next season with the potential return of Borini next season it would be kinder to just ship him out to Sevilla or Valencia or whoever.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aspas is just the wrong player, which is sad because I feel he cares. But the fact is he was a silly signing really, he was a one season wonder of kone's level, but instead in the spanish league. He is in his prime and cannot change his style or physicality. Really hate using this phrase but just doesn't seem good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mingolet gets a lot of stick on here. Yes he isn't the complete package, but he isn't a bad keeper.

For years we have been spoilt. Reina has world class distribution, he is absolutely awesome in one on one situations, and he was an excellent organiser. He was also very good at coming out to claim the ball. His shot stopping wasn't the best bet it was above average. At his peak he was probably the second best keeper in the world behind Casillas.

Mingolet is better at shot stopping and he has brilliant reflexes but is still behind Reina in everything else. He is better than the current Reina who seems to have lost his passion for the game though. Could we do better than Mingolet? Yes, but not for cheap money. Is he a bad keeper? No. He's only 25 as well which is a baby in keeper terms.

I wouldn't mind signing a keeper to make him up his game rather than slack. Maybe Marshall etc. Jones is an excellent 3rd choice keeper, but he will never push for a starting role. Hence why we signed Doni a couple of years ago. That doesn't mean Mingolet is awful and needs to be sold. If we had endless funds, fine. Sell up and go for someone like Begovic or Lloris. But we don't and like I said previously, Mingolet is actually a good keeper. Probably in the top 5 in the league behind Cech, Lloris, Begovic and De Gea. He is easily as good as the likes of Marshall, Hart and Howard. He just needs to find consistency and settle in.

What would I like to see done? I'd like to see Achterberg gone. When he took over from Xavi Valero he made Reina regress. Since Mingolet has signed for us he has also regressed. Personally I'd fight to bring back Valero (although I have no idea what he is doing right now) as he was probably worth 5 clean sheets a season to Reina. Even Torres had incredible respect for Valero who taught him the art of reading a goalkeepers shape and body language during one on one situations. Torres credited Valero for a lot of his improvement with us. Quite simply, if you don't have world class coaches, you don't have world class players.

Anyway, let's pray for today! Come on you reds!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just watching how confidently Krul claims the ball from corners and play, great distribution too, unfortunately we haven't shot at him to find out his reflexes

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you EAST MIDLANDS SCOUSER, I tried to say the same but you have put it better, I don't think he is a bad keeper he just needs to improve, again i'm with you on the way he has gone backwards since he came here, maybe better competition for the keepers spot will get him where we all want him to be, I even thought it might have been the expectation, at sunderland he would have been more relaxed because of the low expectation, where as with Liverpool the expectations are s lot higher, and I just hope it was that and next season he gets back to his best form

So the last day of the season has come around and despite the last two results Liverpool could still win the league, now i'm not expecting any upsets but you never know. Regardless of weather we finish first, second or even somehow third this season has been a remarkable success and just because there's no league title it shouldn't be noted as a write off.

The Lallana story has really taken off and while i'm still skeptical you never know. But for a team that's going to finish in the top three i'm surprised at the number of players fans want to leave. It's time to build on this squad with some top quality additions not overhaul the lads that have got the team where it is.
Apparently Rodgers wants another center back and while i'm a big fan of his maybe he should have used the money he had wisely, the fee's for Alberto and Aspas could and should have been saved, that's not me having a go at the players but they just haven't had the game time and their roles could have been easily covered by someone from the youth team.

One story I can't believe didn't get any mention this week was Edin Dzeko's antics during the Everton game, I thought he was laughable acting like a child in the supermarket aisle when mum won't buy the breakfast cereal with the colorful picture on, even peaking through his fingers to see what the ref was doing. It was up there with Saurez's miraculous recovery against Norwich, there should be a rule brought in the if you go down in such 'agony' you have to leave the pitch for five minutes to receive the urgent medical care you need.

to kotomoto

you look at mingolets saves and say he has made so many fantastic save, 50 I think you have said, its a pity I missed them in any highlights on match of the day, I also said playing for sunderland is not the same as playing for Liverpool, the pressure is different, but to make him out to be better than he is means your wrong, because after all he gets paid to make saves, what stiks in my head for some reason is the chelsea game where stevie slipped and Ba was through on goal, I've seen other goalies save these kind of chances, and mingolet was close enough to save it if he was good enough, one on one he is not that good in fact I can't recall any one on ones he has saved, to say he has saved 50 fantastic saves then you are andshall be the weakest link, I will be looking forward to your video on these 50 fantastic saves, and fantastic is not world class, I also did say I hope he does get better next season, but you seem to ignore this, plus there is no harm in having competition for your place as it will make the player better so he does not lose his place, one last thing, you have a look back on the goals we have conceded and seeing how much you know about keepers look to see if any of the goals against could have been saved or would have been saved by a better keeper also include mingolets mistakes that have led to goals that have cost us points, meaning the goals against us have not been in the unsaveable kind of goal, and you will see that without the mistakes we would have had the prem sewn up by now

i do like migolet but i'm not biased enough to ignore the fact he needs to be better next season or that we need a better keeper,, I personally think mingolet should have saved one of the palace goals, he just reacted too late, a better keeper would have saved it, try to analyze the goals against us and see if other keepers like hart would have saved them

if we have had a bad season in defence all season and there's been 2 players in that defence all season is it possible that it was down to them that the defence was bad, mingolet and skertal, maybe if it was toure or agger or sakho then loads on her would be saying the same thing, but these pairings might have conceded fewer goals away from home,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 May 2014 13:14:33
whatever, give it a rest. We ain't signing no keeper to replace Mignolet so get on with it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Right. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on migs. I for one think he has had an ok season. There is also a huge difference playing for relegation fodder and knowing your mistakes can lead to loss of title. To blame him for Chelsea's first goal is laughable, 1 on 1 any prem striker should score more often than not. How many gks would make a double penalty save against Stoke? Perhaps his string of saves in 3-3 draw merseyside derby? Save against benteke in villa game? Save against fernandinho in 3-2 win over city? He is 24 years old which is so young for a keeper. Lay off him and get behind him. I'm guessing you wrote off the likes of Henderson in his first season too?

If we were to bring in Lallana, I do wonder where that would leave Suso, Texeira and Alberto .

As good as he is, i'm not sure he's the type of player we need for the midfield.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I should think that Texeira and Alberto will go on loan and Suso will join the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would keep all the decent young players here and play them in fa and carling cups plus drop them in the first team squad when possible

Agree0 Disagree0

On loan I would imagine.
The midfield is already quite strong in my eyes. If we play the diamond we already have Gerrard, sterling, coutinho and Henderson. One will have to be dropped to make way for Lallana. Or rotated obviously. Doesn't seem an area we are in desperate need to improve, I would rather spend in the possitions we need to first, namely a left back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some context. Aspas, Alberto & Moses have played 42 Premier League games between them scoring 2 goals. Still worried about how Lallana will get enough games? We will also play at least 10 more high level games next season. First team quality over squad quality. 2 of the players mentioned will leave and the other will be on loan. That still leaves some space for Suso and Borini to come back and get games.

Agree0 Disagree0

42 appearances not full matches. Alberto contributed to 9 of those yet only played 144minutes….get my drift.

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course we need to look at midfield, Don't forget when Henderson got injured we seriously capitulated in midfield, he was badly badly missed for the Palace and Chelsea games

Agree0 Disagree0

Haych. I was making a point about First team vs squad quality. You glossed over the extra 10 games next season when we will need to rotate, we didn't suffer too many injuries in midfield and Lallana (if he joins) will be as likely to play on the left of a midfield diamond as anywhere (taking appearances off Lucas, Allen & Coutinho). Are we supposed to run a squad with eleven senior pros and eleven kids behind them?

Just like to post this response about interest in lallana when previous enquiries were made. Just shows things can change quickly and there are no certainties in this LFC world. No one really ever knows who is coming or going but it's good fun guessing with you all so don't take it too seriously on here folks!

{Ed001's Note - they wouldn't sell him and he has shown no inclination to leave. Pretty sure he was an Evertonian anyway.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - actually you are falsely representing what has been said. This was before everyone started trying to poach the manager. It was also said in response to someone claiming he would be desperate to join us as he is a Liverpool fan.}

11 May 2014 10:34:43
I have huge respect for Mourinho for what he has achieved in the game but you have to be a complete person for attacking players from other teams unnecessarily.
Suggesting Suarez is a serial diver continually in public is below the belt and hypocritical of the man, for we know he loves these type of players, Drogba being the classic example.
Now Suarez shouldn't have been awarded double player of the year?!. And to top it off the player of his choice would be Dzeko?! Really Jose?
'The Sour One' seems to forget the amazing season a certain Yaya Toure has had dominating from city's midfield this season.
Jose in his own very 'special' kind of way is really just admitting how highly he rates Suarez and Yaya.
So on behalf of Luis, thank you Jose, our regards to Eto, Ba and Torres.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If for nothing else you would give it to LS for the complete fool he made of himself last monday night, then again gerrard deserves something as well to ease his pain for costing lfc the league title, just saying

Agree0 Disagree0

The word remind me again how much you spent this summer to come in 6th? I hear the figure was close to 100 million? Weren't you going to "win the league" seems that hasn't worked out for you eh? You would do better to look at your failure of a squad this season then to criticize ours the guys who went from 7th to 2nd in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 11:53:15
Tim nice but dim makes a fool of himself every interview he does and generally every part of spurs first team when they play anyone in the top 6.

Agree0 Disagree0

He also made a fool of AVB at '3 points Lane' and Sherwood at Anfield.

Suarez is a genius

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he wants to buy dzeko in the summer, so is saying he is better than the best player in the league to publicly flirt with him and get his attention.
Never take a mourinho comment at face value, he knows Suarez has been the best this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

The word
If you showed the same passion and commitment that the players you have mentioned showed then you would be a non stop poster on your own site. Seems strange that you only post in the evenings and weekends, is that because of school? Oh and by the way, every time I see your sign on name I can't help thinking of something that rhymes with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're not really a Liverpool fan are you Word?
Suarez made a fool of himself last Monday?! Are you serious? Christ he was showing some emotions, usually what happens when players get this close to a title win.
And why do you think Gerrard cost us the title? Is his goal tally this season not good enough for your high standards?
There were many factors that could be considered as reasons for us not winning the title (if we don't that is), bad refereeing decisions, costly red card at the wrong time, choice of tactics, defensive mistakes, but no, it was definitely Gerrard, why? Please don't say because the *un said so.
Regurgitating bs you've read from bs media sources still sounds like bs and really only serves to demonstrate how ill informed and naive you really are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh 'The Word' is back is he? You are like an annoying little fly that won't go away no matter how many times you try to swat it!

Why you don't you concentrate on encouraging your team to get above Arsenal before you come on here trying to mix it up with the big boys.

9 goals and more to come next season, don't forget that son

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah a Spurs fan, now it makes sense lol.
You're angry because of all our targets you were constantly hijacking Suarez was the one you're really gutted about, angry because he played a part in getting AVB the sack right, angry because you conceded 9 against us with no reply, wasted millions, no champions league, an Arsenal fan as manager, a crap owner and board, not one player in your team that would shed a tear for you for this seasons failures, I mean the list is endless.
You're angry, we all understand why, we could almost shed a tear for you too after the season you've had.

I saw a post earlier about World Cup MOTD fever and it got me thinking. Whatever happened to Vaclav Pilar? Shone at the euros for Czech, was considered bargain of the summer for £1m then disappeared.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fans should remember that most clubs will have their targets in mind. It would be a shambles of a club who decided to go to Currys for a new plasma and then got their scouting team to sit in front of it for 3 weeks with the brief to put in calls between the games for the players that caught their eye. So please don't bother us all with MOTD nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

You seem to have replied to a post that isn't there. Please read what I wrote before responding, I asked where a player had disappeared to. I did not suggest scouting based on MOTD fever. The player in question had a great 3 weeks but was bought before the euros so was not MOTD fever at all.

I was directing it towards those who will ask the dumb questions. I am agreeing with you entirely!

As for the Citeh game? Well, I do believe in miracles but not today unfortunately. So its best to put the white flag up and just incase you don't know! I never get these things wrong! Hi Ed02,
is Lucas up for grabs this summer? thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I appreciate he is a Liverpool player and like all Liverpool players he is simply not good enough and must be replaced. Hopefully you can get to the ground today for the game and scream abuse at him so he knows he has to leave.}

Dear me ed. Three sarcastic replies on the bounce? Where the cocktails not up to scratch last night?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Actually the cocktails and the concert we hosted were fine. Thanks}

Ed your a sarky sod but hey you are right though ed :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Ed I can't make it to the match today, could you ask someone who is attending to roar twice the abuse at the players so they all leave, ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas should not be sold. Why do some fans turn on the lad so regularly. He went from zero to hero in some of your eyes before becoming a zero again when asked to cover Henderson who is a completely different player.

This lad has given everything for the club, got the Bill Shankley Award this week for being such an ambassadors or the clubs charities, plays his heart out every game but just because he does run and have the energy that Henderson does you're calling for his head.really?

Players need to be appreciated for their individual skills and values not written off for not covering someone else's position as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

A hungover ed on the final day. Going to be a long one lads haha

Agree0 Disagree0

The fans have no say on transfer so it's all pretty academic what we think. At least we don't have a manager who tells his 3 strikers that he doesn't have a striker! Sorry Ed. Couldn't resist. When your manager stops saying dumb things we will stop pointing it out to you. After all you kindly point out the dumb things our manager allegedly says!

{Ed002's Note - Naïve and easily led like the Liverpool fans are, it doesn't bother me.}

Hi ED's,

Based upon the posts I've read potentionally Enrique (if a deal could be done) and Skrtel (if Agger stays) could be sold in the next window. Johnson is aiming for a reduced contract; do you think the club will look to cash in on him if he says no?

If he does stay could you see him moving to left back and maybe Sagna coming in (I hope my memory serves me correct but I think one of you stated at least he thinks about having to play left back)?

Also say Liverpool sign Lallana would that be for the LW position (even though I know he can play if other positions)?

Many thanks and he's hoping miracles happen today

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Johnson is not out of contract and it seems to be more of a case of the fans rather than the club wanting him gone. I appreciate he is a current Liverpool player and like all Liverpool players he is simply not good enough and must be replaced.}

Hi Ed's thanks for the quick reply; I'm not suggesting he isn't good enough; reading other posts I was of the belief he had a year more to run on his contract and that the club were looking to extend but on reduced terms; hence my question whether they would be looking to get a transfer fee for him or alternatively let him run the contract down.

My point about moving him to left back was that I'm sure in recent days Ed001 (apologies if it isn't you ed) stated that he "doesn't put his body on the line but has bags of ability" and "at least at left back he has to think about the position he plays".

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 12:53:29
Johnson is terrible Ed002. Every fan has the right to be frustrated with a player who can't be bothered even when the club is fighting tooth and nail for the the first league title in 24 years. His body language and lack of effort is appaling and unacceptable. U can be assured a lot of Liverpool fans will be delighted to see the back of Johnson and rightly so.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A lot of Liverpool fans want most of the players gone of course.}

11 May 2014 08:31:15
Eds, it's previously been said on here that Brad Jones will not leave the club regardless of whatever keeper Rodgers brings in to provide competition for Mignolet. Just why is this? With all due respect for Brad and the troubles him and his family have encountered He's not good enough and only keeping him will probably block the progression of say Danny Ward etc who would only benefit from the experience of being included in matchday squads, Jones went somewhere else he'd probably play more as well. Plus, I'm sure Simon and whoever else comes in will have one eye on that #1 Jersey he retains.
Thanks Eds. I'd appreciate a reply.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I appreciate he is a Liverpool player and like all Liverpool players he is simply not good enough and must be replaced. Every time he has appeared this season for the first team he has let the side down. Hopefully you can get to the ground today for the game and scream abuse at him so he knows he has to leave. Go Liverpool eh.}

Hi guys

Reminder, just like we are hoping City slip up today. Don't forget that Chelski are hoping that LFC also mess up today.

We just need to concentrate on our game today and hope for the best.

By all accounts a fantastic season all round.

I'm not bothered by who leaves or who comes in, I'm just glad that we are playing a WONDERFUL brand of football that gets me excited to watch the match week in, week out.

Hoping today is our day and West Hams.

Thanks to all the reds and eds for a wonderful season.

Well boys and girls, here we go, in a season of countless twists we require one more .

What an unbelievable campaign this has been . I never thought we would get this close in my lifetime, not once money started to rule your chances of winning the top league and we didn't have any .

I never thought we would score 100 goals in a league season, one more required today, nor did I ever expect a Liverpool team to concede 50 goals in a league season, currently on 49, a clean sheet today, please .

Whatever happens today we have made unbelievable progress . Rodgers will make fewer mistakes next season, people forget how young he is . And, of course, only 97 days until the new season begins on 16 August . Does anyone know when the fixtures are out?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 May 2014 09:48:38
Watching TV this morning and can't get one bit excited about the build up for the game, we have had a great season no matter what but for me personally being so close to winning it, it feels like a failure, a lot of other fans say they want anyone but Liverpool to win it but I'd like to see how excited they would be if it was there first title on 24 years,
I'd love to see Nolan for west ham but realistically I can see city giving them a good hiding, hopefully I'm wrong,
I'm proud to be a lfc fan matter what happens ill support them wheather were champs or 2nd or even in league one, it's just so heart breaking the way it's all ended for me even though I'd of biting your arm off to be in this situation at the start of the season, If City do there job and win it we'll done you's play great football and always support the jft96 and your manager seems like a gentleman, anyway let's hope miracles happen, WE ARE LIVERPOOL.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 May 2014 11:19:31
To get so close is heart breaking but it could be worse what if that was the other Manchester club about to rip that title out of our crasp.what if Suarez got injured earlier in the season and we were sitting in 5th place with no cl to build on when going for top players I understand your feeling but it could be a lot worse mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 09:02:32
Thoughts on Suso and Teixeira. Good enough to have an impact next season?

And while we are on it, I lloris and Alberto? Both young and not really contributed this season, big plans? Or loans?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Suso will challenge for a first team spot next season as will Borini. Teixeira imo needs a season out on loan as does Alberto. But I suspect out of Teixeira and Alberto, only one will make the grade at Anfield, considering Lallana will also likely be a Liverpool player in the near future. There simply won't be space for both.
Tiago Ilori on the other hand should be thrown into the first team alongside Sakho. The combination of pace, power and fantastic on the ball qualities make these two a dream centre half partnership atl east on paper. Now its time for BR to give them an opportunity to show what they can do on the pitch together.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You don't think that Lallana would push Sterling out of the picture then?}

11 May 2014 11:14:08
Sterling is 19 and a winger, Lallana is a playmaker, they could so easily play every single game together.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lallana and Coutinho most likely to be fighting for a spot in the team. Sterling will be rested and Suarez and Sturridge have missed quite a few games between them so cover is vital. It's a squad game we are always told. We aren't allowed 5 top players for 4 starting places Ed? Seems unfair when Chelsea have about 8 for 4 places.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Interestingly, it is nothing to do with Chelsea.}

When Man City have 10 for 4 places then!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Anfieldboy

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2014 12:54:08
No Ed002. If someone needs to be worried about Lallana arriving, its Coutinho. And competition for places only improves performances on the pitch so why not? Coutinho has been brilliant at times this season, but he is incredibly inconsistent. Signing a top quality play maker like lallana would ensure the standard of performance on the pitch never drops.
And forgive me for bringing up Chelsea, but didn't the signing of Salah mean the likes of Piazon and Atsu who both play in that very position have been shown the middle finger by Jose and Roman? They may be out on loan but why not just keep them in the squad than making pointless signings like Salah? Or maybe u just wanna see LFC go into the next season with just 12-13 players and screw up big time. because some of the players like moses and Aspas need replacing and that too immediately.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You can bring up Chelsea if you want - you keep doing it for some reason. It does no more than make you a laughing stock.}

11 May 2014 01:58:30
Good evening eds and fellow readers,

Like most I'm both dissapointed and pleased about our season. Pleased because we've far exceeded our pre station expectations, disappointed because the chance was there for perhaps the easiest title we would ever get, it's the hard way from here on in.

But I took some time to think about what kind of effect we have had. Before Rodgers, plenty of teams (good and bad) came to Anfield expecting to go home with at least a point
. and often did. Now they don't. The teams in the top 6 mocked us and were never afraid of playing us. I think our results coupled by the fact that (in my opinion) United, Chelsea both were scared enough to play very defensively against us and city and arsenal both know we are no walk overs mean that we have restored some of the fear in other teams previously garnered only in the 70/80s. Spurs in particular must have paid about paying us.

There's a lot to be proud of. So be proud. Yes Rodgers says Some questionable things at times, name me a top manager that doesn't? Be proud of what we have achieved with a budget smaller than any team in the top 7 except Everton and a squad thinner than Jose mourinhos hairline. Next season, a cup, a title challenge and knockout stage of the champs league please.

Nevada

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post. I would rather finish 2nd playing like we did than finish 3rd playing like Chelsea do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not putting your post down Nevada but Chelsea always played defensively this season and well United were in awfull form playing a free flowing attacking team City weren't afraid they attacked and got 2 goals and Arsenals lack of pace a the back always leaves them vunerable and more so against you

Spurs must have nightmares about playing us

Metro is reporting that Real could be coming back in with an offer for Suarez starting @ 60 million. Personally I think he would love to go there, wish & hope he doesn't though. Question is. should we look for a player plus cash eg Benzema or hold out for 80 million . especially as Bale went for 85 & I think Suarez can add more to Real. Thoughts.

Hi Eds,

Has Enrique actually been injured this year or has Rodgers just not decided to use him? He seems to have been out for a ridiculously long time without any news on him. Guessing he will be on his way out anyway?

Cheers as always!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - injured, but he is on his way out, if a deal can be done.}

He had some sort of troubling knee which finally had to be operated but it took longer than expected to heal.

I think he is one of the players the club is open to selling if a good offer is made.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesnt rodgers rate him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not really, nor do his team mates, just ask Carragher what it is like playing alongside him! Enrique doesn't listen to instructions from coaches at all, nor does he listen to team mates.}

Have to agree with ed001 on Enrique. Sometimes, even the player himself does not know what he wants to do with ball. Can be really frustrating to watch, sometimes even comical.

Honestly not that bothered about missing out on the league, we'll be back next year. The progress has been phenomenal, we are on the up, and will continue to develop.

It was always a bridge to far with us working with a squad of basically 14-17 players overall. I've said before, you need to mess up and make mistakes on the journey to realise what must be done. I believe the team have certainly matured this year into a team capable of challenging for multiple honours next year. We had to learn and grow up at some point so it might as well be this year rather than next.

Anyways, the boys have been exceptional and couldn't be prouder of them all, they have put us well back on the map and everyone in the world of football seemingly talking about Liverpool again.

Best of luck to the boys for tomorrow, they have a deserved rest or for some, world cuo glory.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You have had about 20 players all season of which I could name Moses Cissoko Kelly Enrique Alberto haven't committed much either Aspas done a but in the cups but that's about it

Agree0 Disagree0

More like a squad of 12-13 players. The rest like Aspas, Moses, Alberto, Coates have contributed next to nothing for the club this season. To challenge on all fronts, we need to replace these players with actual quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

You mentioned 6 players Paddy; which then make our squad a 14 member one according to your logic.

Did you take into account the injuries and suspensions we have had with this 20 players Paddy? I think not. Of the 14 members you allude too, the following have missed PL games:

Daniel Agger - 8
Sakho - 9
Enrique - 29
Johnson - 9
Flanagan - 5
Lucas - 8
Gerrard - 4
Coutinho - 5
Henderson - 3 (suspension)
Joe Allen - 8
Suarez - 5 (suspension)
Sturridge - 9

I have not included the players you mentioned.
