Looking forward to next season now. I believe we have made progress. Maybe it's just me but I noticed we hit the woodwork 32 times the season and only scored 4 out of 11 penalties. Now if all those went, that would have been 39 goals. So I would say that's at least 5 more wins which would have taken us to 67- same as arsenal. We would have had 78 goals 8 more than arsenal. We'd be sitting 3rd. Also injuries and bans have cost us. Ok we didn't score those goals but, it is a positive to think about. I for one will be judging at the end of next season. We're not as far off the champions league as most people think and I see a bright future and believe we will rise again. Ynwa JFT96

So if we didn't get that European ban I'm sure we would have won the CL a few more times! Ifs & Buts, we're not good enough to finish in the top four, kenny need to go ASAP!!

Some homework for you. Count the times Arsenal hit the woodwork or missed penalties then factor all that in on each week. Come back with the goals/points tally. Then take it to your maths teacher and call it a project. Wed still be outside top 4, you'd pass the exam.

I would just like to say it's actually nice to see someone being positive for a change.

Think the lads trying to say it could have been a different story but as usual the negativity keeps comin back.

Not doubting what Macca says but something is troubling me, why if Kenny was staying would he feel the need to address the players over it? If he was staying then wouldn't things just continue normally? Surely if he addressed the players as is being reported then wouldn't it be something else?

11 May 2012 23:32:43
People complaining about the new kit because the flames have been removed from the crest, get a bloody life. Seriously, have you got nothing better to do with your time? The 96 will forever be with us, be that on our crest, the back or front of the jersey or even nowhere on the shirt at all. They'll always be in our prayers, our thoughts and in our hearts. Calling the new kit a 'disgrace' is just embarassing. I haven't seen the new kit yet, but from what I've read it sounds excellent. I'm actually excited to see it and to own one! Even if it's gonna cost me around R600 here :-/ But it's bound to look better than that rag (literally) the sh!t will be wearing next season.
Capetownred

PS ed are we really signing the gaston ramirez dude? {Ed022's Note - If you're referring to the Twitter garbage then no.}

Couldn't agree more mate. I was worried about how to express this but you sum it up perfectly, YNWA

Actually think the new symbol is more tasteful and being on the back highlights it more as it is isolated from the rest of the stuff on the front. Gives it more gravitas in my view.

Someone was saying the other day we should have newcastles chief scout at Liverpool. Turns out it's Alan carrs dad, who would of thought.

Hi eds, great site. I hope that macca is correct and kenny gets another year minimum, why cant he see out his contract and see where it goes. Anyone slating kenny needs their head checking. Liverpool need adam johnson some defender in the mould of sami who can knocvk 6 in a season and can be an ever present. And lastly we need a proper poacher, i like the look of morga in reserves but hes too young to enter the fold i dont think he has the same ability as owenhad at that young age.
Get the kids and fringe players in europa and leaguecup. Get andy carroll banging them in, i believe in him. I dnt research any other team other than liverpool so i dont know that maybe ive the players owe kenny and the fans and our best signing wwill be lady luck who has hit bar and post as many times as us and we missed a few pens. I guarentee we will score 20 more goals next year band thats before any new signings coz it simply cant happen again. Those twenty goals will amount to say22~30 points and where would we have finished with that tally this year?.. top 4 def, it just been a unlucky season all round and the things like underperforming players gets highlighted too much and slaggin the manager off aswell. Its simple we are fans get behind the team and support them and the manager, if you wanna come here rippin kenny and the lads and the club try loggin onto the manc rumours where you belong you muppets. Lfc 1st! Ynwa

hi eds and fans, I have seen the new kit and really there is nothing at in it that is disrespectful or that undermines the victims in anyway. It is like anything if you want to find something to pick on you will find it.
Really the embroidery at the neck region looks fabulous and more in rememberance of the 96 in my opinion.

Any truth in this lfc officials travelling to Bologna to conclude 18.7m deal Gaston Ramirez ed's?

Cheers {Ed022's Note - No, none at all.}

11 May 2012 23:05:56
I for one love the new kit reminds me of the good old days. The only thing that i dont like is the goalkeepers kit, think it is boring we could of come up with something better. Anyway ordered my home kit online and cant wait to receive it

new kit is awesome looks even better 'in the flesh' so to speak.

11 May 2012 22:46:57
I know noone will believe me as it contradicts what Macca says which I believe 100% but I have been told Rafael Benitez has been preparing for a new job and hasn't left Merseyside a great deal in the past month or so. I hope Macca is write and Kenny stays but this is just the info I have been told. Ta Ryan

11 May 2012 22:44:51
I personally would be very happy with this signings:

Luuk de Jong
Iker Muniain
Gaston Ramirez

Eds, is this possible and is there a good chance we will go after these players or am I getting unrealistic?

Cheers
Philip {Ed022's Note - They are all targets.}

And elm. I would be happy aswell.

Hello Ed/s!

I used the search function and couldn't seem to find this question asked before. With Macca saying that 'Kenny will probably get another Season', which will bring his total up to 2 Seasons this time round, why did they give him a 3 year deal? What's the point? I honestly don't understand that, surely if they wanted him to raise team morale before they attempted to bring a 'bigger' Manager to the club, why wouldn't they just have him sign a 1 or 2 year deal? And also investing so much money into his judgement, yet now they're considering/giving just one more Season? Do you think they'll respect the contract and give him his 3 years then evaluate how's it all gone or what? Some things I just don't understand. Wouldn't they have to pay him off too if they told him to do one? Which surely isn't in the interests of anyone (paying money out unnecessarily)? Especially our owners.
And just to note: I am a big Kenny supporter and would happily have him for many years to come.

I apologise for any ignorance on my part, if there is.

Thanks for any response, Ell. {Ed022's Note - Well if you think of it like this. Most players are sold with 1 year remaining on their contract right? It's pretty much the same with managers sometimes. Contracts mean very little to be honest, if the manager isn't doing well, he'll get the sack. If a player isn't doing well, he'll be sold. Get what I mean mate?}

Fair enough Ed but players leave for profit, managers, if let go early, require a payout (stating the obvious I know sorry) so surely the situation is not quite the same... I think providing a longer contract may also give off the impression of stability instead of quick fix, to fans and players alike

I guess so man, cheers for the explanation!

Ell.

'Liverpool officials fly to Bologna to complete Gaston Ramirez £18.7m move. Inter Milan and AC Milan also interested and tabled bids'

With that 'new' strip, our latest signing should be Billy Liddell.
It's like a 1950's throwback. We only need the lads to get a short back and sides, brylcreemed on top. Lol.

can anybody explain to me why the hillsborough groups are having problems with the new kit. forgive my stupidity on the matter but they only put the justice torches with 96 on the back of the neck in my view a clear support for the campaign. {Ed022's Note - To be honest it's people being pathetic and acting very, very whiney. If anything this new kit shows more support for JFT96.}

Isn't one of the main problems that there are a few JFT96 groups, and during one of the supporters meetings FSG suggested that they should try and work together instead of separately. This is why some groups were involved in the process and some weren't?

dmedly

I totally agree ! What must the rest of the country think of us, lets be more positive about our club and the decisions made. LFC has been exceptionally supportive to the families of the 96 and I believe the new location for the 'flames and 96' displays this support. Well Done LFC. Fellow fans challenge my comments if you disagree !

I am not a Liverpool supporter, but my first thought was this was a smart American callous and calculated commercial exploitation. Having thought about it, I am even more disgusted. Just imagine the PR meeting that came up with this. An absolute disgrace to maniplate Liverpool supporters. I am not joking!

I think it's a really nice touch.
The shirts will all be hanging up in the dressing room, numbers facing out. The Flames and the 96 will be the last things the players see as they take the shirts off the hangers.
How is that for inspiration.

MIKEY

Honestly the last emblem was for many years looking too busy. With the flames the gates the swirls the YNWA. The only thing left to put on there was the kop. So come guys I really think that FSG are trying hard to get back to the roots of the club and the passion moving forward. Those people that were killed will never be forgotten. I believe it was a wise move to put the flames on the top of the neck area. By the way alot of AFL clubs in OZ already use this part of the jumper to remember their roots.

RedSHP

"I am not a Liverpool supporter" I stopped reading after that.

Wow, that just gave me the chills Mikey. Awesome.

Unless that was not the intention by Warrior then I think Mikey has ended this debate...that is a serious tribute for JFT96

Eds all reds with respect , concerning the new kit and the posistion of 96 and flames , when the team is playing , the most you see is the back of the shirts , so , the 96 will be seen more . in my opinion , a nice touch and a great new kit . steviep62 godbless96 all reds

If kenny is adamant in continuing the British based players then Sinclair/sturridge/ would be ideal to wat were after pace and direct and both have got goals in them

British players such as Coates, Doni, Enrique & Suarez?

Hi EDs/Macca
Love this site, just wanted to know whether liverpool have shown any interest in two players from Georgia: Giorgi Chanturia of Vitesse and Zhano Ananidze of Spatak Moscow in recent times? Cheers {Ed022's Note - Not that I know of, but perhaps 002 is better to answer this question.}

Chanturia is one of my favourite buys on FIFA12, that's all i know of him.

Hi Eds, any more info on Wilfred Zaha? I know we were interested in Jan, but has there been any interest since or was that just speculation?
Thanks! {Ed022's Note - We weren't interested in January. We sent our scouts down Palace to have a look at him, and it was decided that he lacked finishing ability so we wouldn't bother. I for one agree with this, and think he's extremely over-rated.}

Hi all , Macca is spot on with kenny being given more time , I have a family member close to motd legend big al and he says kenny is unsackable at present bcause support divisions in boardroom so players were approached on this and all were in favour of giving it a go nxt season , as big al said the liverpool way is to be patient !

11 May 2012 21:30:49
Just a quick thought, if fenway are getting rid of all the people they believed mishandled the suarez affair (IF that is the reason) then what are they going to do with Suarez who supposible started the whole sorry saga?

11 May 2012 21:27:59
The shirt controversy should be solved somehow. I'm sure FSG will look into the matter. Let's not jump into conclusions. Justice for the 96.

I think it already has been, the design was chosen by a Hillsborough Family Group.... what else can the club do...

11 May 2012 21:24:14
A question for Macca.

Has there been any whispers of a return by Rafa to the club?

If there is what would be the reaction of the players and your own opinion?

Also, thanks to you and the eds for the great info and work you do, really appreciate it.

11 May 2012 21:23:35
Macca, Ed...I read that KK might be given another chance. I think this makes sense. I've been saying all along...if we got Mourinho with the current squad we still won't get into top four. LFC is a club in transition. Let's face it. We're not longer among the best in Britain, let alone in the world. It's going to take time and not just improving the playing squad. Developing young players a la Gerrard; new stadium and improving the way things are run at LFC are just as important. I do have a question to either Macca or Ed, please. How confident are you FSG are in it to turn LFC into a top four club again? Do you expect an announcement on the stadium development soon? Thanks {Ed022's Note - I don't know mate.}

11 May 2012 21:22:58
Eds, just would like to know what you actually think about Gaston Ramirez?
Do you rate him? Do you think he would be a great buy?
Personally I think he isn't that good and wouldn't be the SPECIAL, CREATIVE player we all wish for.
I'd prefer Younes Belhanda.
What's your thoughts Eds? Thanks in advance...
Philip {Ed022's Note - Oh you've asked the right Ed here! www.player-profiles.co.uk - check out the profile on him and a full evaluation of him as a player is given at the end.}

when u look at the new strip of other teams, liverpools is superb.
it could be a lot worse. imagine if we got one like man Poo's. where the only crosses they (Man Utd) will see on the pitch on the pitch, will be the ones on their football tops.
get behind the team. get behind kenny. for next season we will be superb.

New Kit is excellent, the badge is finally a breath of fresh air from the clutter that has donned our shirts for 20 years. Simple and effective is what I would call it.

Read on the news around concern around the removal of Flames from the badge, a good move by the designers and just important to retain it on the shirt, the addition of '96' tops it off.

Great Work Warrior !

Leeds fans here i just wanted to say good luck for next season guys and hope you do the double over Manchester cos we hate that lot just as much as you do also wanted to say cant wait for leeds to play you in the near future hopefully anyway had some good games over the years? {Ed026's Note - I thought I had replied to this, will try again: thanks, there have indeed been some great games. Hopefully we will soon both be back where we belong.}

Let me begin by saying i fully back everything we do and have done to get justice for the 96 families that suffered at Hillsborough, however
Is it not enough that we hold an annual memorial service and have a monument to the 96 without making demands on the club crest too?........
Im not saying this with any sort of knee jerk reaction to what ive read on the BBC sport pages but from where im standing id say its more likely a minor comment or two has been made and the BBC have pounced on it like they always do, being as we all know they are very anti LFC especially after the Suarez treatment.......

The new shirt is well thought out and a real throw back and i for one think the 96 and flames on the back is a nicer gesture than the flames either side of a crowded badge......We cannot and must not be seen to be falling out amongst ourselves when it comes to our great club as the last season at times had real turmoil and all these problems need erasing and the good name of the club bringing back....We are NOT the new Leeds utd and we will not be made to look like we are the bad boys of the English game just because the BBC would wish to have it that way, We do not wish to be hated by all and sundry thankyou very much.
Personally i would like someone from the HJC to come forward and put a stop to this nonsense and shut the BBC right up, not only would it take down their bonfire with the biggest of waves but it would show solidarity in this great club and not a consistent habit of problems occurring for no great reason......
Look at it sensibly, do we really not do enough for the 96??......Of course we do they are forever in our hearts and memories and the 96 on the back collar is a far nicer touch that is so well thought out from our new kit sponsors,
We are Liverpool football club and we stick together through the wind and the rain....Always.

The Guv 81-9 YNWA JFT96

Been a while since posted, long term user of site. A red since I can remember 32 yrs old.
Fully aware of the HJC and all it stands for, I'm beyond supportive of the 96,
Before today I wasn't aware of the significance of our crests flames( I probably should have been) . Imagine how much awareness the new crest and flames arrangement will raise for the Liverpool faithful abroad. Only if it is endorsed/ supported by all concerned.

Just my opinion, no offence intended to anybody.

On another. It's wish we had a better pr group at the club to nullify such things. Evera Suarez issue for example

Aldred

Very brave statement but well said and I for one agree..

Well Put!

Been thinking since my post earlier regarding our new kit and associated posts/comments.as i understand recent development in the fight for justice for the 96 was field by an e-petition which raised enough signatures to be discussed in the house of commons. I couldn't submit a signature as I am not a resident of the uk.

Does any red out there know how to form an International e-petition, of course only with the approval of ALL relevant parties. To
Support justice for the 96 campaign.

All supporting our new owners, new kit, manager & team in a an old/new unified Lfc.

I think it's would be a fantastic way to undermine all the biased anti Lfc jurnos out there and show once and for all the might and support of Liverpool football club globally.

I know won't carry much political weight but would galvanise our new "situation".

Imagine how may reds abroad could actually show their support?

Aldred {Ed022's Note - It is possible to perform an international petition but only from your own country mate. It's slightly weird but it's possible.}

quick question eds
do liverpool get any money from winning the carling cup?
and how much for getting into the europa league?
and for finishing 8th in the league? {Ed022's Note - 002 would be better to give you exact figures for this mate, but I'm sure it's in the archives so search it mate?}

I think the new jersey is fantastic. I really didn't like the older ones mostly because they were fitting (Looked like Enrique's body would rip the jersey off) and the white stripes.

This is old school, classy and I think best one in EPL. The players looks like professional in the jersey where as in older ones they looked like sports models more than professionals.

And since Warrior sports are based in US, I think it will be easier to find jerseys here now. Which was not the case when Adidas was around. (Couldn't find a jersey in single store.)

Good job Warriors.

I really hope our away kit is yellow and red, love that old kit.

Stone YNWA. {Ed022's Note - I didn't personally.}

First one i had was the cream away top, now that one was nice.
huddz red

Yellow looks good, but it's not very menacing. Would dark green or even purple away.

@Ed022,

Haha. Maybe I lack taste..

It's certainly more purposeful too, than black or white. Because as you so often see; red&black, or red&white is quite common. (Sunderland, Stoke, Saints etc.)

Stone YNWA. {Ed022's Note - Yeah I get what you mean, but yellow and red to me is rather hideous on a kit. Perhaps a Gold kit?}

I had the yellow one and I was wearing it when I met John wark. Sorry if I spelt that wrong in southport and he signed it for me when we got back home my mum was kind enough to wash it out for me. I'm just sorry I was only 13 at the time and didn't know who he was until I got home and my brother told me

Eric the red

What about the same design, perhaps a tighter fit with black instead of red and keeping the gold? Would look proper classy
NextGenRed

They had a nice greenish blueish one in 09/10 that colour with the same design wouldn't be to bad either that or have yellow and thin black strips.

New home kit is great, looks a bit like the fantastic teams of the 70s. For the away kit I'd take any colour (even blue, even Evian TG's fading pink) as long as it's not yellow. Please, please no more yellow! -SH-

1970's ?
Ray Clemence's top had big f off collars, but that's it.
More like 1950's, when we were in the old 2nd Division. Which, considering our form of late, may be very appropriate !

I wont be buying the new kit, Its a disgrace the justice flames have been moved to the back of the jersey, They were put on the crest for a reason and we all know that reason, It is simply a disgrace

David JFT96 YNWA

Those justice flames stand either side the 96 on the back
mrbrown

100% agree and from all the posts on here from supporters, Its sounds like most of them dont even know why the justice flames were put on the crest, I agree its a disgrace and HJC are not 1 bit happy and neither am i, i wont be buying a jersey either and i know about 5 of my mates are not buying it either for this reason, Feel very let down by the club, Obviously some supporters dont know why the crest was changed after hillsborough, Otherwise they wouldnt be posting all the love for the new kit, Its a disgrace, Theres a petition online with over 5,000 signatures so far to get the justice flames back on the crest, Graham JFT96 {Ed022's Note - Oh come on. You people are just taking this way way too far now. You say that this is a disgrace bla bla, but I personally find people like you a disgrace. Shall I tell you why? Because Justice for the 96 isn't represented by a badge, by a chant, by commercialisation. It's represented by what is in our hearts. I can personally say that those 96 individuals will forever be within my heart and within the club I love, regardless of where they are on the shirt. People like you measure this by publicity, and I find it truly outrageous. How dare you or anyone else question the club's support for the 96 and their families because the club have changed the shirt design. I understand fully what our previous badge meant, and I appreciate that - but to say the club have let you down to me is childish and very pathetic. Justice for the 96 - not justice for a shirt design.}

The new kit was put infront of our Supporters Committee, David mate. Who in turn showed the new design and other design, to the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG). They represent the majority of the families and they seem more than happy with it. It appears the HJC were not even consulted on it. And only heard of it in the Supporters Committee minutes.

In my opinion, Adding the 96 on our new shirt is a lovely touch. And the flames and the 96 will be there for the whole world to see and not just the flames. I personally always thought we could/should've had the 96 on our kits a lot earlier.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

It's a shame you feel this way, especially if you have lost a family member in the tragedy. I think it's worth noting though, the club did approach the Hillsborough Family Group and consulted them about the changes and the group chose the end design. I actually think having the number '96' with the two torches was a lovely design that Hillsborough family group picked.

If you ask me, most non Liverpool supporters didn't know what the flames on the crest symbolised. At least having them on the neck, along with the number 96, will raise more peoples awareness to their significance. Also, I think the kit is not too bad overall - I'll give it 8/10. Nice to see United giving colour blind people a fair crack of the whip in kit design. Nick.

5000 knee jerkers or 5000 on the band wagon.
its just 5000 misinformed, full of dis info. pumped into them over the last 23yrs!
the truth will come out to the mainstream eventually.
at least they care, i guess.
imo i quite like the kit.

Stone YNWA. {Ed022's Note - I must agree with Blair also, good post as always. The flames didn't represent the 96 in a universal way, but with the addition of '96' etc, it creates objectivity and universal appreciation.}

As someone lucky enough to be pulled from the Leppings Lane end, I honestly think it's our best kit in a long time and the gold 77 old school Liverbird ices the cake .

It's a shame a small minority have picked on the flames to stir up s%$t. Does anybody seriously believe putting the flames somewhere else is a "disgrace"? It is a wonderful gesture that they are on the shirt - anywhere.

Well said ed22
it's a huge issue which cannot be deminished by having or not having a badge on a "football" shirt

Macca can and has been before wrong with certain information, this fact. In the case of Kenny getting another year, i do not agree with his opinion, and i am under the understanding that Kenny will step down, as early as Monday, now the information i am being told may well be wrong, but i am willing to go against what Macca has said, and that Kenny will not be the LFC manager come 18/05/12.

I wonder why cockney rhyming slang came to mind when I read your name at the end of your post?

Hmmm, the new kit is a bit like the team for me - a work in progress.
Lose the collars, and let's have a white crew or V neck collar. With matching white cuffs.
Cos we all know the cuff should always match the collar !

There will be no set budget, i'm sure if a quality player becomes available and is interested in joining the owners will put the funds forward.

Why is everyone suddenly wanting Lucas out ? Get a grip.

Also why do some of you still want Torres back ? He wont come back and we don't want him, you don't get second chances after the things he's said, i can see him moving back to Spain possibly to someone like Malaga who would stump up the cash.

Perfect player for us to re-sign would be Xabi i'd actually jump through hoops if we pulled that off, doubt it'll be this year though.

I just ordered the new LFC home Jersey. Will be getting it right in time for my birthday.

Thought it was really nice and old school. Love the color red. It cost me around $80 for the jersey and a bonus tshirt (I'am from US) but i really didn't care because its Liverpool .....

Why is it so frustrating being a Liverpool fan, it's plain to see where the team needs improving and the calibre of player need to transform into a top four side again: -

In
1 x CB - Vertonghen/papadopolous(schalke)
2 x CM - Moussa sissoko, yann mvila or strootman
2 x wingers - Iker munuain, belhanda or Adam Johnson
1 x CF Luuk de Jong

Also hoilett and Diame on free transfers.

Out
Adam (terrible)
Maxi
Spearing
Kuyt
Cole
Aquilani
Poulsen
Aurelio
Doni
Jones

I understand the outlay would be large, but it would result in the club spending significantly less over the next five seasons, plus it probably lower the wage bill.

I can see what needs to change, so why can't the management team at Liverpool, people who make a living out of football.

liverpools new strip is a back to basics, no nonsense, no frills style. simple, yet effective.
it represents what kenny is going to do with the team. this is what i heard, from a very reliable source.

Banter please
Just want to say, I bloody LOVE the new kit! Im only 20 years of age and find it extremely stylish, the fact that theres so much red and how the gold has been so beautifully incorporated. Warrior have kept it extremely simple, brought a kit from the glory days. Very innovative.
Lastly, quite a touch to add the "96" at the back!!
One thing is for sure, im pre-booking it and looking forward to that free t shirt theyre handing out ;)
IM DAMN PLEASED..
RedSox69
P.S: ED(s), I add the "banter please" at the start of my posts because "POST LIVERPOOL RUMOURS" is the only option I get on my Iphone :s
Just wanted to know if you were aware of this, thanks {Ed022's Note - It makes no difference what form you post it on mate, we Eds decide which section it goes on.}

hi macca and edds just on ur post earler macca u think kenny is staying do u think this is the right move im not so sure will they trust him with money for transfers? and secondly are soldaldo and munian still are top targets? i no these owners are going to get usback to were we belong and they will spend big for right players just like they did at boston cant quite remember didnt they spend 200 mill on player so they will do this but will they let kenny do it thoughts macca and edds cheers

I don't get some of the fuss over the new kit.
Is it some people trying to make out they are more important than they really are?

Get over it.

The new kit looks awesome.

I prefer the simplified Liverbird design - going back to the kits I used to love.

It's a nice to to have the flames and 96 on the back near the collar too.

{Ed022's Note - I personally love the new kit.}

11 May 2012 17:37:33
Im gonna get alot of flak for this.
Let me start by saying I fully and actively support the Justice for the 96 Campaign. I do not subscribe to Sky have never bought the Murdoch press(even before the events of Hillsborough) and have never voted and never would vote Tory.

However I find the reaction of the HJC to the new kit disgusting. LFC has backed the families 100% We remember each year at the memorial service, there is a pernament memorial at Anfield, the 96 are incorporated into the club crest and are given a place on the new shirt.

What is more many many fans donate money and support the boycot(myself included). However LFC is not owned by the supporters nor is the club a campaign group nor should the shirt be a pernament memorial to anyone Shankly, Daglish, Liddel or the 96.

HJCs reaction was way over the top and only helps those attacking the club and campaigners as portraying LFC fans as constantly moaning always demanding more.

I would love someone connected directly involved with HJC to debate way they feel they have taken ownership of the club crest.

The new kit is superb and fully realises LFCs rich traditions, FSG seem to be making every effort to steer the club in an exciting direction and yet all HJC can offer is more negative press and a deflation in excitment.

REMEMBER THE 96
FIGHT FOR JUSTICE
BUT DONT TURN ON THE CLUB

I think this is a great post and i dont think you should get much flak as everybody deserves there opinion. I personally think our new kit is fantastic and i will be buying it. It also still honours the 96 angels just in a different place on the kit. Sometimes it doesnt matter what the club do it will never be right, but as long as opinions are constructive i really dont see the problem. My only problem with the club is that they have put the membership for next season up by 3 quid thats my only little whinge.

I know united have a huge amount of debt, but it can't be that bad that they have to make their shirts with old tea towels.

Tekneek

Are you suggesting they are throwing in the towel? {Ed022's Note - That's just 'TEA'dious.}

Dont think we can afford to slag off the mancs jersey, Our new came out yesterday and im disgusted the the 2 justice flames on each side of the liver bird have been moved to the back of the jersey, Its a disgrace, They wer put on our crest for a reason and its shows a major lack of respect to the 96 who lost their loves, The HJC realeased a statement yesterday saying they were very dissapointed and let down by the justice flames been taken off the crest, As a liverpool fan i take it you know the amount of great things the HJC have done for the families of the 96 since hillsborough

So it really gets on my nerves when we think its more acceptable to slag off manu's top when we should be thinking about our own, From some of the supporters ive talked too today and yesterday, Most of them didnt even know what the jusitce flames on the crest were for or were even there, Shambles and disgraceful, Paul ynwa96 {Ed022's Note - I personally think you're taking this too far.}

Just wondering if the Director of Football position is any closer to being filled before the end of the season, and if we are actually going to have that position any more? Cant see them doing away with it after a season? Another question is, the americans as a whole, not just our owners seem to have a lot of respect for jurgen klinsmann, i dont know what he does these days, but do you think he would be considered for the DOF position? thanx

so many people claiming we need to spend loads but to be honest with a bit of luck one or two players in and key players in form we would have a good chance of getting top 4. This season just wasnt to be. Also everyone should get behind carroll and see what hes got!

Apparently cocoa the clown was invited to turn up yesterday but unfortunately he had misplaced his costume. Fergie lent him one of the united shirts and most of the first team have only just finished laughing, 24 hours later !

I have to say that I've not been one of the posters after every match that's calling for people heads when we lose and then classing people as world class when we win.

I have had the odd moan and have been disappointed with a lot of the results this season. However, there have only been about 3 maybe 4 games where we didn't turn up and didn't deserve anything.

I know it's not all down to luck, but the majority of games this season we have played the other team off the pitch, but not scored the goals to prove it.

I'm glad KK will be given one more season and I think the new players have had that 'bedding in' season to come to terms with what it means to actually play for LFC.

Fingers crossed we hit the ground running (the early Europa league start will help - I can't see us getting a bye into the latter stages as there's no way Chelski will beat Bayern).

Not looking at the squad with rose tinted specs or being biased, we are probably only 2 decent players away from top 4. That could even have been this year if a few results had gone our way.

I think KK's contract was until the end of next season anyway, so they have an easy out if it's needed (ie we perform the same again over the course of next season).

11 May 2012 17:45:59
Aquilani will stay at Liverpool unless there is a good offer on the table - no loans, no derisory offers.

Muniain is being targeted along with Soldado. Both are interested in Liverpool's project and feel we are showing ambition.

The rumour of 15m + sales being the budget is BS, FSG want success at Liverpool, they know investment is needed.

Kenny will stay for one more season and by then Guardiola will be ready to return to football. He will join Liverpool.

JK

11 May 2012 17:45:36
So end of season (more or less) time to evaluate KK's time in charge.

Signings:
Carroll 35m - Expensive regardless of inflation due to timing. Hes had a poor season overall and there are questions asked about his lifestyle and attitude. However recent performances have been very good.

Suarez - 22mish Talented good value great player. However damaged club rep, nearly cost us sponsors but transfer value is higher than it is now.

Adam - 6m Cheap good set piece taker but hasnt adapted well to being at a big club hasnt had a great season.

Henderson 16m- young expensive has potential but hasnt had a great season.

Enrique 7m- Cheap talented will be a starting XI player for spain great signing

Coates 8m- a promising youngster seems like a good signing time will tell

Downing 18m? - Overpriced, English has had a poor season overrall might shine under a different manager

Bellamy Free - Old cheap been a great signing for the club

Doni - free back up keeper

On the Whole a few gems, a few overpriced and a few kids with potential.
5/10

Competitions:
League Cup - Winner good
Fa Cup - Runners up good
Premier League - Lets say 7th poor
Overall average 5-/10

Press Confrences - Poor
3/10
Love of Liverpool 10/10
23/40 Not a great or Poor season Deserves the sack? no Deserves a new deal? no Deserves more time? Only if Board believe he is the right man to take the club forward IMO hes not

Both have modelled the new home kit which they wouldn't have done if we were planning on selling them, hence why Dirk hasn't modelled one.

Alonso modelled the away one in 09-10, and then left!

I believe that Kenny will be manager next season and deserves the chance to lead us back into the champions league. Thanks macca as well for what he believes.

Some of our football this season has been the best for a very long time. Probably since Evans was in charge. With a little tweaking in the summer and we will be fine.

I have seen such an improvement in Carroll and Henderson it is good to see. I think kuyt needs to move on as the prem is to quick for him now. Maxi we have certainly had our value out him.

Reina and Enrique need really good competition next season as there form has dropped.

I really think we have some great young players and for me the pick is shelvey he looks a real prospect.

New Dof is likely to be be appointed after we resolve our managers position. It's almost certain that Kenny will leave at the end of the season.

So Expect new manager to be presented along with the new Dof.

For managers position I would guess someone from these three: Didider Dershcamps, Jurgen Klopp, Unai Emery.

But I wouldn't rule out Rafa Benitez either.

It's gonna be a massive summer as mentioned by Macca

11 May 2012 16:57:19
I think the reason most people do not like the new kit is because its different. Its completely unique. No other team in the league has got a shirt like it!

We have had Adidas for a while and people have got used to it, they did have a good design but it was the right thing to do by going to warrior.

Personally i think people will come round to it, will just take some time and once the players have worn it in games they might start to like it more!

I love it to be honest, Retro and love the Yellow/Gold writing. Only thing I'm unsure about is the collars and the bit leading down the middle, but other than that very happy!

I think its well smart, the retro liverbird of the 70,s not just a footie shirt but a casual polo shirt its bob on !

Before this month would have played 433 with carroll missing out but he has showed what may come last couple of games.

Very strong rumour coming out of the blue half of the city. If Everton finish 7th, stay well away from Walton next Monday. They've got an open top bus parade booked around County Road to show off their "If It Hadn't Have Been For Six Other Clubs We'd Have Won The League" trophy.

Ed,I believe we have made progress this season compared with seasons past. When we approach games in the rite manner we are quailty,the only link missing was our goalscoring. Yes kk hasnt purchased effectively I.e downing and Adam and made some wrong tactical decisions but looking at lfc now,we have a decent foundation of players for next season and quailty players for the future in shelvy,Lucas, suso,coady,Robinson and not forgeeting sterling'. We are not going to be challenging for the title next season but I belive will become a real quailty side that will in a few seasons will be going for the title.ED I believe for next season we just need 3 quailty players, a playmaker',striker'and wideman'. Ed mate would you firstly agrree with my post? And secondly do you believe we will have the funds required for three top players? {Ed026's Note - I for one agree, can't speak for all the Eds. We have a group of determined and wealthy owners. If the right players are available the funds to acquire them will be made available.}

Wrong, the only questionable signing has been Downing.

At the end of next season we can definitely havea decision on that.....

Rest of the signings have contributed well considering its their first season......

I'm happy kenny staying I mean people are saying the signings are average but think about it the first season together we made it to two finals and we have out played in the league with no end product. Next season carroll looks like he will be in form Lucus will be back and we will get that few extra signings to get us a good squad to compete for the top 4. I hate these pesimestic idiots on here that just moan about the signings I don't even know what good that does all it does is make the players un confident and play worse?!

Local newspaper here in South Africa rated the 10 worst transfers of 2011/12 season.
No 1 Downing.
No 6 Henderson.
No 10 Ngog.

Think all Reds fans already knew this.

PS. I love the new kit, it takes me back to the early 1970's, when I first swore allegiance to LFC,just love the nostalgia!.
LFC for life.
Shankly's Red Army.

Downing has been disappointing overall, but I really wonder what people expect from Henderson.

He is only 21, I really think experience and time should be afforded to him, the criticism he gets from the media (not surprising as most are morons) and from our own "fans" are very harsh overall.

Ska-oop

The media is Anti-Liverpool.
No two ways about it.

LiverBird

Football presumably isn't South Africa's favourite sport then - cos they obviously know jack about it.
ND

Yip you are quite right ND.
In South Africa, its mainly about Manc Utd, Arsenal also popular (due to them having a number of African players).
Unfortunately LFC is the 'butt of many jokes" in the local media.
Growing up here, it was always LFC and the Mancs who were most popular (this goes back 20 plus years), but LFC have sadly slipped back in the popularity stakes.
Local sports writers (media, newspapers), just love to 'stick the knife in', on any LFC performance, the racism issue (LS) was particulary brutal in the media, racial issues are a extremely (can not stress enough) sensitive matter here, think many local LFC fans 'went into hiding', while the matter was being played out in the media.
Consequently, I think many previous LFC fans (here in SA), might very well have switched their support to another club, rather than have to deal with the whole matter.
Not me, I am a LFC fan for life, come what may!.
Its more than football to me, its a statement about 'who I am'!!.
Take care.

I must say I wasn't sure with the Kit, it looked awesome on the website in the whole moody light thing but then I saw it against the white background and I wasn't sure but when I watched the clip of them modelling it on YouTube it looked really snazzy so overall I'm happy and I'm glad its gone back to the retro style and looking forward to getting myself one -McMenemy {Ed026's Note - I quite like it}

11 May 2012 14:46:19
whats wrong with people on here. all you ever do is talk crap about utter rubbish. are lfc skint, ive been told. why cant anyone talk about football and who they would like to see in a red shirt. lfc are not skint they are try to do things the right way something that should of been done a long time ago. what some of you need to remember is that all football clubs have got to sort them selfs out due to the rules and to be fair why should we have to pay high prices for over rated players. i think the owners weill put up money when needed. they want there club to do well. as for king kenny if you owned the club what would you do?. i for one would not get rid of him. i dont think he is that far away from getting us back up the top and with a few more new faces ithink he has just as much chance as anyone else who comes in. what worrys me about changeing mangers all the time is it puts us back. clubs are to quick to keep fireing mangers. avb did not have chance but we all know what kk can do. i know he was out of the game along time but he still knows his stuff and we fans need to get behide him and trust him. keep the fath. {Ed026's Note - now breathe...}

Jay Spearings not our captain, Jay Spearing is a red, Jay spearings not from Liverpool, Hes from Birkenhead....

FowlerisGod {Ed026's Note - I put this in banter until we can get a terrible poetry section :D}

Wrong he is from Wallasey village not Birkenhead right next to the wallasey village train station .

Wallasey actually.

I'm not his greatest fan, but was that ALL his fault, as I remember lots of crosses he put in and others not doing their bit! I'd give one more year to come good, then see.

I really can't wait till next season. Getting quite excited about us having 5 managers, 3 DoF's and a squad of 40 (not to mention the youngsters)

Should be fun to see how it all works out......

Tristan {Ed026's Note - yeah, I hope Jose, AVB and Rafa can all work well together}

Don't forget Pep Ed!

RedSG {Ed026's Note - He's taking a year out and I think you are getting silly now; he could never work with Jose}

I have heard from someone ITK that Pep is actually going to Manchester United with SAF switching over to us to become our receptionist.

Tristan

It would be like the three stooges.... imagine Jose slapping AVB... fantastic!

Apologies, you are quite right.

Tristan {Ed026's Note - No need to apologise, I'm just being pedantic.}

Think you Leeds fan need to spend a bit more time worrying about all the Money you are giving Master Bates to do up his Monaco Mansion! its sounding like you are more Bitter than the Bitters - one day you may make the Premiership again.. or maybe not..

Confident of beating Newcastle then .is that the same confidence as you went into the semi s with .say no more . cheers psv

Now that ladies and gentlemen is a proper kit, loving the return to the Liver bird badge.

One down side is that it is advertised as a 12/13 kit. One season, looks like Warrior are goint to try and rake back their money as soon as possible.

I think there is a rule that the kits have to last 2 years and the home and away kit swap in alternate years.

11 May 2012 14:06:17
Just two words to you losers mark viduka? Mot 4 life

Another pathetic supporter who would sell Lucas to play Gerrard. If anything I would sell Gerrard and give the number 8 to Lucas. That's how much I rate the guy.

^^^

who ever wrote that needs a slap and told to changed teams

I somewhat agree with the guy who worte it but not to the point where we sell Gerrard.

Lucas has turned out a great player though and Gerrard's not gonna be around forever

Gerrard should be an 'impact sub'. He can't handle whole seasons anymore he is to injury prone.

11 May 2012 13:57:10
I honestly can't believe how much negativity I am hearing about the club.

The new kit is decent and we are receiving good money for it.

The new owners are doing things right. You will thank them in the future when we have a stable club bringing through fresh talent instead of buying other clubs stars at an inflated rate.

Also to all the haters of Lucas. I will tell you one thing if half of the players had his determination and love for the club he has, we would be twice the team we are now. I think you are all forgetting about the stick he used to receive. Did he get his head down NO! he went out and showed all the boo boys what he is about.

Please if you don't have something good to say keep it to your self or support another club.

All be it the league position is not good enough for a team of our stature things are looking up.

Have faith

James

Fair play lad.I personally like the kit but is it really that important? its not a fashion parade. as for slating lucas..out of site out of mind, those people will be praising him when he is back on form next season.If you dont get the game you dont understand his role in the team and now how important he is.
Kenny to stay!!

Latest Man Utd kit ?

I heard that a woman from Glasgow is missing some curtains !

Fergie's Nan!

Don't no how the new hd and 3d tv's are going to cope with the new united jersey, my wife has just fell about the place laughing still thinks the leaked pictures must be fake- fergie will have a ready made excuse for playing s**te next year. would be worth its wait in gold next year if when united play liverpool at anfield the whole team and kop end wear sunglasses to take the piss(and avoid the glare)

11 May 2012 13:29:35
So who has the best kit this year guy's? i think Arsenal and Man utd is terrible our home kit looks classy,Have Chelsea released there's?

Yes mate, they have just changed the stripes and some parts to gold writing. Not a lot of difference but if you want to see it, it will be on their website :)

Big T

11 May 2012 13:27:24
Warro you need stop living in the past yes stevie has won us cups and yes he was quality but he is getting on he has not got the legs he used to have and he no longer has the ability to glue the squad togather get your self up to date mate are you sure your season ticket is for anfield and not goodison lucas is class end of storey you are a 1%er we are the 99 listen to reason not the past

Hmm, it seems your not watching Liverpool at the moment. Is your armchair broken? Gerrard has been the driving force of this team and still is. Just because he's in his thirties doesn't mean he'll suddenly become useless. Scholes and Giggs went on for much longer than Gerrard has. Sure his intensity may drop but a Gerrard at 50% is better than most players at 150%.

11 May 2012 12:54:28
Excuse me folks, but is today Pessimist Friday? We just had two good days following Tuesday night so assume we now have to come down - lousy new kit, no money from the owners, Gerrard too old, Lucas useless. Just so as I can get me bearings like will tomorrow be a little more positive or do we have to wait for Sundays result to see if the world will be ending or not?

Kev

11 May 2012 13:06:55
Just because an Everton fan coments on LFC page talking us down everyone says they dont know what there talking about coz the Everton fans, But surely a clever fan is clever whomever he/she supports.

Plus most have a point you cant refere to us as one of the biggest teams in the world then say 8th or 9th in the league isnt failure.

time to face facts, Yes we've been unlucky but still our league form is bad, Yes its great that we can spend 20 mil on a winger but he's not improved us.

There are positives we have money, good owners who will make needed changes, a wonderfull academy, new stadium on the way, but there are still big negatives that have to be fixed.

UCCM

But UCCM if what he is saying is not clever, he isn't a clever fan. Selling Lucas is not a clever idea! We haven't had good league season but we have progressed. Selling our best players won't improve us. Who next, Skrtl, Agger, Suarez?
Kev

UCCM...Everything I post here is genuine banter full stop.
Once in a ...ahem...while I go a bit OTT... however It's just for the fun of it...I bare no malice and I aint the bitter you label me...

11 May 2012 12:46:06
POST ON BANTER PAGE PLEASE ED'S!!

Just a quick post about Lucas! The lad has improved no doubt but as I posted earlier I would sell while his value is sky high, think we could get between £15-20 million for him and have the kecks off someone just like we have been ripped off in recent years by clubs! And spend the money on a genuine world class midfielder!

Waro

The way lucas was playing before he got injured i dont think there is another player like him in the world so why sell.
k-h

Dear Waro
You just put this on Rumours and got canned for it. Do you not realise that the same people read both Banter and Rumours? I called you a dope before and now you are proving it all the more. Sell the best players and buy someone who is not proven so we have money in the bank. You are like those who say sell him and then buy two players with the money. One snag, you can only play one of them at a time - you can't play them both and if they are not as good as the one you sold the team is weaker. Sorry if that taxes your brain.

Thats just crazy, sell one of our better players?, I doubt Liverpool could find anyone at the moment that would do a better job then Lucas does ,I'm sure this is a joke... though I'm not sure what the punchline is lol.

Bazingaa

Lucas IS a world class midfielder, nevermind one of our best players.

I for one can't wait see him on the pitch again.

Mr Slonk The Red

Get rid of the most missed player this season. dont be daft. safa

Got canned for it lad, don't think so! You have got to respect the opinion of the other person and realise they have a good footballing brain to except there response as a canning and you are one of the respondees so am not intrested in your sheep following opinion! Go the game and I might respect your opinion!! p.s. I have the balls to sign my posts!

Waro

Haha Waro must be a winner on FM12... who would you suggest we replace him with? One of the last players i would sell but hey im no manager and i suggest you shouldn't be either Mr.Jones

Waro, you're an person and I bet your one of those fans who slagged Lucas off week in week out when he was a kid applying his trade in a new county, he allows the rest of the team to play and he protects the back four, by far the best player in his position. he's been a big miss the season for liverpool, so yeah lets sell him you IDIOT

Waro i just can not see your logic mate, according to opta stats and everyone who watches football he has been the best DM midfielder in the prem for the last two years... Sell him for say 18mil, and buy who?? "world class" seems to be around 25 to 30 mil, so lose money and buy someone unproven? No joke now if we received a offer for 30mil for him I would reject it, the guy is "world class"

G BOX

Slated Lucas for along time but big fan now. With him playing in the cup final i seriously doubt he would of made the errors Jay made.Thus costing us 2 goals. Prob would of been a different game and maybe even a different season.

FowlerisGod

Lol ..we won't get a suitable replacement for Lucas as it is for Suarez if we sell them.. players of these caliber no longer see us as big club, nor we pay huge wages to attract them so forget abt selling... we have got some world class players in our team the way forward is building a team around them not selling them...

Its a shame how some fans are so dumb... yeah sell Suarez , Lucas, Reina Gerrard... where we heading isn't the destination Championship...

ps no such thinking ppl.. think positive & forward

Bosco

I just hope Lucas regains his brilliant 'pre injury'form!.
Some players never get back to the same level, think of Essien (Chelsea), awesome before, now just a 'shadow' of his former self, sad really, as he was a fantastic player.
Gerrard, another one, Agger (brilliant still, but somewhat 'fragile).
The list goes on.

Lucas is returning from a serious injury and would have to prove his fitness and form all over again and as such, his value won't be sky high.

AG {Ed026's Note - Lucas won't be sold so his value is irrelevant. He has everything the club needs. Age on his side, talent, passion for the club. We have sorely missed him this season.}

11 May 2012 12:47:06
Ed what do you make of the new kit?? I love it personally, defo gonna buy one when in stores! {Ed002's Note - It looks a great deal better than the Manchester United kit.}

Aw you're after our hearts 002!

DP

Or arsenal's, i might add.

11 May 2012 12:35:56
I hope all these people pre ordering don't end up with dodgy fitting shirts.
New make means new sizes usually.
I am currently between sizes (getting fat) so I will be trying one on first lol

MIKEY

Good point mikey, try b4 you buy sizes on footy shirts always a bit slim fitting, my excuse anyway.

Mo

Ha, ha good point Mikey.
I always have to find the 'bigger versions', sure hope they cater for us larger lads.
Nothing worse than a big lad in a 'tight shirt', unless you are well 'sloshed' and don't give a toss, but the girlfriend will be quick to remind you!.
Food for thought.

You won't have to worry about the slim fit anymore, the kits will more than likely be designed around american sizes. And everyone knows america is filled with fatties.

an american red (non-fatty)

Sure hope so.
I am 6ft 6in and 275 pounds, and damn everything is small nowadays, sometimes I wonder who they make these things for, also size 15 shoe.
Difficult to look styling in anything, unless its a "jumpsuit or overall".
Food for thought.

How can anyone disagree with the fact that america is filled with fatties? #1 country on the obesity list. Go america! We may be an illiterate, in debt up to our eyes, war mongering country, but at least we are #1 at something.

an american red {Ed026's Note - let's not bring obesity into this. Obese people have a lot on their plates.}

11 May 2012 12:24:02
Alright ed02 does Torres dis like Liverpool now? Short an sweet cheers
Kp {Ed002's Note - I really don't know if he dislikes Liverpool or not.}

11 May 2012 12:20:43
LOVE the new kit. Reminds me of when I first watched LFC in the 70s. Couldn't be happier with it (and it's not a lame Burberry attempt like other teams)

cozinoz

11 May 2012 12:12:55
The new kit is f***ing ugly. Worst liverpool kit ive ever seen. No you'll never walk alone what a joke

I agree - its awful

It looks cheap and i'm not convinced on the yellow writing.

The Crow

If this is the heritage kit, I'm guessing the away version will be the bad-ass kit ” gold on black, or red on black, or black on black like a Spinal Tap album cover. If you don't love this one, just wait. I bet there will be something for everyone, except maybe for those who pine for excessive Adi-stripage.

JB {Ed002's Note - Maybe they will reverse the colours - red on yellow?}

I could support red on yellow as a replacement for the blue and white tennis outfit Adidas produced last year. {Ed022's Note - I loved the 3rd kit last year, I don't see your issue with it.}

11 May 2012 12:01:53
king kenny has to go.
Steve lfc

Yeah after swansea he will be

...to the toilet? Be more specific please Steve.

Agreed, he has to go...on and on and on as liverpool manager.

11 May 2012 11:50:31
im sorry but your new shirt looks sh-t,cheap and nasty.it reminds me of a job lot of fruit of the l--m workwear shirts sent to a local printer to have the local taxi depot,kebab shop,leisure center emblazoned on it for a bit of cheap advertising. ,.like all fans no matter what i will buy my teams shirt,but fsg are having a laugh,£50 for that!.they will be making £49.50 clear profit on that shirt
trev the gooner

Nice one Trev, did you take all morning off work to come up with that little ditty?

Dirks Engine Room

Plank,

Don't you have the brains you were born with. The appearance of the shirt differing from previous incarnations is to distinguish and drive sales full stop.

The club margin is negligible therefore RRP is virtually immaterial - pardon the pun - different retailer and distributors negotiate key contract offers from manufacturers like Warrior or Nike club by club brand by brand so to speak.

They are produced in such volumes as they barely come close to the actual shirts worn by the players in most cases. If Arsenal want some spangles in their kit i suggest you call Gwok - I believe hes an Arse'nal fan!

Suffolk'n Red

You won't be buying one then, Trev? Get one of those classy red shirts with white sleeves, really smart those.

@ trev the gooner,

Talk about cheap advertising have you seen you're new home kit?? They advertise the French flag I'm 100% sure you can't go any cheaper then that!

Trev the gumtree still cant get over arsenal not winning nothing for 7 years ahh bless

Robin Van Persie wont be wearing arsenals new kit thats for sure clever trevor

You need to look at your own 'new' design before you criticise others!
worst arsenal kit for a long time, blue bands? why? horrid. your club is red and white, it's worked for over 100 years and now you change it. sorry, but failed massively. luckily for arsenal fc the man utd kit will take the weight off your shoulders!

For somthing a bit different why dont liverpool incorporate some of there old historic kit designs.after all lfc have only used all red since the mid sixties.you could incorporate somthing from your first kit.oh wait! that was evertons kit wasnt it lol.viv la france lol

What did you think this seasons 3rd kit was based on? please try come up with some decent banter instead of that tripe!

11 May 2012 11:47:26
Once again (posted in banter this time), a week before it's printed and speculated about! My sources come through for me year after year.

Ed001, back me up buddy :-))

Stay tuned for more

I look forward to Alonso returning and Suarez joining Madrid or Barcelona...

KKM..

Are you declaring your own phrophecy correct because you deem a story in a red top tabloid as being 'official confirmation'?

So you believe everything you read in the newspapers and more pertinently in the Daily Mirror! I think wait and see until after the end of the season review rather than accept a tabloid version of truth!

Solar is up there with The Insider and Armando in the ITK stakes. ie clueless

Martin

Have you read "official" anywhere in any of my posts mate?
I post almost everything I get from my sources, as it comes. I do not have the time for anything else unlike some of the clowns who invent the news on here. And I do not filter out things just because I agree or disagree. If it was "Official" it wouldn't be a rumor would it now.
And by the way, KKM, why don't you ask Ed001 about Alonso and Suarez talk during the winter break. If anyone has a problem with me posting, I'll stop. go through the Eds for that. No problem.
-=Solar=-

I have a problem.. Are you going to stop posting then Harry Harris

11 May 2012 11:27:19
I have been reading a few post and want to clear up a few things. First i really think the owners we have at present do not have the funds to make liverpool great agian. If you buy liverpool you know you need to find 350 plus million to build a new ground. Where are they going to find that how long has it been any owner who purchased the club should have made it a priority. We have hardly any money for new players because kenny wasted so much in the summer.We have to sell to buy thats just a joke when did liverpool become a selling club, fair enough players come and go but the replacements for the players we had have been laughable. And finally why the hell do we need a director of football. Surely if you give a manager a job you have to trust him not have a dude watching over you passing judgement

Do you actually mean you're dissapointed at FSG not matching Man City's transfer fees & wage structure?

FSG have not got the money that we need. If they did stanley park would be a building site mate. We sold to the wrong people you need deep pockets at the top end of the prem.

You are an idiot. our new owners are making sure we have a long term future as a club. bet you blow all your pocket money in five minutes and then cry poverty to mommy. safa

I'm sorry mate tell me again how many hundreds of million arsenal. Spurs and Newcastle have spent. Money isn't the be all and end all. The most important thing is the right plan of action and we won't know if our plans are right for at least on other couple of years but I think it's so far so good. It's only taken fsg to get us from near financial meltdown to some kind of stability. As for the stadium you can't just say oh look there's a big lump of land over there lets plonk a stadium on it. The amount of people you need to talk to and the amount of permission needed is rediculouse. A small example. I had to pay £200 and wait almost a week for the permission to whack a hole in my wall and fit a coal fire. I think a stadium is sum what bigger than a fire place therefor taking a lot longer to process. Why are so many people on here so frigging stupid.
Ps do all you eds have a pool for who will send the dummest of the day

11 May 2012 11:17:51
Apparently 1 day away from administration back in 2010 the team and club dissary. So in 18 months we have qualified for europe, been to 2 cup finals, won 1 didn't play particulary great in the 2nd final but ok. Our league position doesn't lie so doesn't look as if much improvement has been made there. But now we have a team of really really young players and I for one is really looking forward to the future. Carroll, Suaerz, Kelly, Shelvey, Lucas, Coates, Sterling. If we keep this team together and add a few more players over the next 2 seasons and hopefully 1 or 2 of the youths will make the step up and really make a difference like a lot of people hope they do and think they will then there is a lot to look forward too. I think a bit of perspective should be applied to Liverpool FC from them dark days from when FSG took over till now, the club is getting healthier everyday with the work FSG are doing and the team is getting stronger everyday too. Man Utd Wayne Rooney apart haven't got a 20 million player on there books, well maybe they do but what they do have is a collection of players that play for the club and the manager ( more so him ). I really believe in our players, some haven't been as consistent as would have hoped but there is defo signs off improvement. When Henderson plays in the middle he's much better but I understand a player has to learn his trade when he plays on the wings so when he does eventually go central he will be a better all round midfield player. Look at gerrard, scholes, keane even viera all played across the middle when they were young and starting out. I'll stand over Henderson I think he's gonna be a very good player and Shelvey is going to be fantastic player he really is a gerrard and keane in 1 player, a bit raw but really like the look of him. Would love Kenny to stay on as he really is building that team but in the modern game his biggest flaw and only flaw is his media dealings which is a huge part of todays game make no mistake about it. Media coverage equals money, You want the neutrals to become a red not turn them against the club. I think this reason and this reason alone would be why FSG would move him upstairs, maybe? If it does happen why not KD as DoF and Paul Lambert as manager, a match made in heaven for me. Of course this is all IMO but no matter what I'm really looking forward to the future, no champions league next season, but a strong showing in the league from august to may, another domestic final hopefully the FA cup and the Europa league and that'll be a great season. Our 3rd full season with FSG and only then will we be ready to make our assult on the premership.

Owen

Did they teach you how to phrase paragraphs at school?

Steve

Well done Steve great reply, english is a b**tard language made up of old germanic with added structures to make the language work. Did they not teach you that in school. It's a Liverpool banter site you clown.............

Steve are you an english teacher?

I'm with Steve there, it made

Might go and buy a bottle of champs now ive heard that

11 May 2012 11:01:47
Even the biggest optimists(a lot on here)must think it'll be nigh on impossible,to make up 4 places,and get in Champs Leauge.Without some premium signings.Most rivals will spend decent cash,if not huge cash.Were asking our lot to be much more consistant,and rise 4 places.With bargain basement signings if any! Thankyou Fsg for all youve done,but i thought you wanted to build,bring success,and eventually title to LFC.Only one way were gona go with this policy!I just hope its a smokescreen to keep asking prices down,and deals quite.Alternatively are they trying to sicken KK into quitting?Because you have to speculate to accummulate.Aint saying Citehs cash,but weve proven ourselves to be a long way behind as it is,without dropping further!

Are you done moaning?

Lad above table and lotve lame performances dont lie.Kid yourself all you like.Your the type of fans accepting mediocraty.Yes it takes time.Take a dam lot longer not improving to keep pace with rivals.Especially as we wont attract top draw without Champs leauge.I pay 780 quid a season and thats just home games.Entitled to moan.Stay on Fantasy island with the other armchairs-plantpot!

Come on then, who wears their footie shirt when not going/watching the game? That new shirt is decent.

Now we are just about to release our new home kit and with a US tour coming up is it feasible purely from a marketing and merchandising point of view to acquire a hight profile player to sell the shirts and merchandise and to profile our club during the US tour Big Al N Wales {Ed002's Note - Liverpool would not get the money from shirt sales so it seems like a dumb thing to be doing to me. Although I would not be surprised if there were interest in Dempsey - but as a player.}

I think you might be wrong about the shirt sales money ed. Wasn't that something the owners were surprised about with the Adidas contract. Didn't Ian Ayre release something about this when confirming the warrior deal? I was sure we now got shirt sales revenue with the new deal.

Shmickles {Ed002's Note - No I am not wrong about the shirt sales money. Ayre was discussing associated bric-a-brac such as mugs, keyrings etc.. The money from shirt sales does not go to Liverpool.}

Ed002 you are wrong per usual. Have a read of Ians interviews regarding this subject...he specifically says shirt sales. Every club gets a cut on shirt sales. Yes Liverpool may get a lump sum from warrior but then if sales exceed a certain number lfc would get a cut.

If sales rose 200% do you really believe Liverpool would not get a cut? You clearly are not very well versed in business.

Like I said to you before, whoever your source is for infomation needs to be hanged. First you say Suarez will be sold and Standard Chartered wanted to get out of their contract and now you are saying that LFC do not get an absolutely penny from shirt sales even though Ian Ayre explicitly said this was an area they were going to explore?

And then when I press you for some concrete evidence you cannot provide any to substantiate your ludicrous claims?

Mate most of what you say never materialises or is ever demonstrated to be accurate...you should heed this as an indication that you are wrong a lot of the time and not throw abuse and people when they question you.

Over and out.

Sorry ed you're spot on. Ayre was discussing the none branded merchandise. Just checked.

Shmickles {Ed002's Note - No problem. Seems Liam the Glifnard doesn't agree and states "now you are saying that LFC do not get an absolutely penny from shirt sales" when I have explained the process and will do again below. Liam is the one threatening to shut the site down by the way - wants to take it away from everyone which I think is a real shame. So to be clear:

The money from shirt sales goes to the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer, who can make extra adding numbers and names to the shirts. If the club are the retailer (club shop, club website etc.) then they get the retailers cut. The manufacturer (Adidas, Warrior, Nike etc.) pay the club an amount each year which allows them to manufacture and sell the shirts using the correct logos etc.. That is how they justify the money given to the club. So if you walk in to a high street store and buy a Liverpool or Arsenal shirt - nothing goes to the club. There are a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with manufacturers (Real Madrid with Adidas and Barcelona with Nike are the two obvious examples) based upon joint reselling ventures. So the income from shirts is fixed to the £xM or whatever Adidas, Nike etc. pay the club plus a small amount for reselling through the club retail outlets (shop, web).

That is how I have always explained it and whilst Kleenex Boy attempts to yet again misquote me, he is wrong and continues to be a complete embarrassment to himself. But what the heck.}

Hey Eds,
I know you get loads of questions like this but i'm reading everywhere that we'll have little money to spend. I know there isn't a fixed budget but do you expect us to spend between 20-40 mill?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what will be spent. I suspect much will depend on who leaves and the money raised.}

11 May 2012 10:09:05
We are all worrying that the daily mirror has reported dalglish will stay but not much money listen these are newspapers but when ian ayre had a statement he stated " we have invested in team significantly and will continue to do so" in the press conference after the accounts came out. So who do you believe actual quotes or a newspaper story with no quotes? Lets be clear however its going to be cut buf thats no suprise after 60m last summer 30/40 million is a significant cut so take out what u want from that story but think about it a heavily doubt we will be given 10m to spend there woukd be a fans backlash after a season like that these players in this squad are clearly no were near top4 quality, and suggestions we will stick is rubbish yes the players might do betwr but likely not enough to be top4 quality with the squad weve got 5th would be great achievment and owners want chanps league, they no how badly we bought so u can understand why theres no 60m this year. Soldado would be the only big price player id buy the rest look for bargains via a good scouting system then players wont come with fees on there back, big problem this year maybe new players cons in will take the burden off big price players.

I disagree, we have been unlucky this season and confidence is coming back. We need the results against the smaller teams, we've battered all of the teams above us even if we didn't get the result. Carroll looks like a new signing and Suarez is starting to find the net (Even if he has to hit it off another player). Henderson is coming through to be a good CM, we will have Lucas back and a fit Gerrard from the start of the season. Along with the we have Johnson, Skrtel, Agger and Enrique, best defence in the league? Maybe City's is better by clean sheets but they always have a decent DM in Barry or De Jong, we've had Lucas. Also on his day Reina is the best keeper on this planet, maybe he's had a poor run recently but when teams get 5 shots a game and maybe 2-3 on target it can really test anyones concentration.
So yeah, I'd say 1 more top player who can dribble past the opposition for fun and we'll see. You never know what will happen, that's football for you.

11 May 2012 10:04:57

dont you think that who ever LFC buy this summer the fans should get behind them. coz this season if a player is not playing his best or is out of form the fans get on their back too easily for me. just remember that Lucas and Skrtl started slow, but are now important players. the likes of Henderson, Carroll and shelvey are are still very young and have great futures ahead of them. i've been at games and if Stevie G misplaces a pass no one says anythink but if one of the above players make a wrong pass some fans are straight on their backs. some fans need to realise that you should always back the player. As for Downing, the lad pings some great crossers into the box, but no one is in the box. thats why we need to buy a fox in the box and also a right winger.
thanks guys keep up the good work and remember everyone, if we all stick together behind the players they will gain confidence if they know that the fans will be behind them, just like the 70's and 80's YNWA {Ed002's Note - I think so but sadly many of the fans will not do that. It seems to be a new thing.}

11 May 2012 10:00:44
Dont think too much needs spending this year, of those going out only Kuyt & Maxi really need replacing. Kelly to be transitioned back to CB and Henderson to be played in deeper CM with Lucas.

OUT: Aurelio, Doni, Spearing, Cole, Aquilani, Maxi, Kuyt, Pacheco
IN: De Jong, Ramirez + young talent

net spend prob abt £10m+

problem will be being able to sell these players
promote yungsters in europa league and Carling: Suso, Sterling, Shelvey, Coady, Wisdom

GK Reina Jones
LB Enrique Robinson
RB Johnson Flanagan
CB Skrtel Coates Wisdom
CB Agger Kelly Wilson Carragher (coaching)
LM Downing Sterling
RM Ramirez Suso
CM Lucas Henderson Coady
CM Gerrard Adam Shelvey
ST Suarez Bellamy
ST Carroll De Jong

So we only have to buy Ramirez and De Jong?

Think this is more realistic given the budget we will have, plus maybe some young english prospects. Name are uncertain, but we def need a goalscorer/poacher and a winger/creator to add to the mix

Need Carroll, Henderson, shelvey, Kelly + youngsters to develop...though have my doubts about Downing/Adam so would sell if there was a reasonable bid and switch for Elm/Hoilett...etc

Senior management smokescreen ?
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Kenny will stay for another year with little money to spend.
Obviously they want to compete with the likes of Fulham and Everton.

Good morning fellow mid tablers ...

Methinks the writing is on the wall for your beloved KD...

FSG know if they sack him you lot will crucify his successor...

'' he doesn't understand LFC the club or the fans''

'' he is too negative''

'' he can't handle a big club''

''he is tactically naive ''

'' he has lost the dressing room ''

Sound familiar ?

Of course it does...the only way to get rid of that bloody dinosaur is to clip his wings...

Take away his pocket money and make him work for change...

If he cannot play the transfer market ...HE'S GONE ...

I only type the truth...

Blue247

Obviously your an person who reads the mirror.

Last time you typed the truth you said Everton would murder us in the semis. You don't have a clue pal

cozinoz

Is this "sad and blue 247" the one who was going to come on to our site after the semi? Hoping for 7th as the pinnacle of success whereas 7th for us is failure. Only beat you three times this season, 6-1 on aggregate, home, away and neutral ground. That is the truth mate it has been like that for years. Kenny has won more in 18 months than Moyes has won in 10 years. Go away and cry to your Z cars theme!

'' Obviously your an person who reads the mirror.''

Poster without name ??....... I personally hardly ever read the Mirror...and certainly not recently...

Blue247 :)

With 9 out 10 football stories from the Mirror proving to be incorrect, why are you fussing over this morning's tale?

Blue247,

Maybe Bill could write a musical about him and then you can loan a couple more star players, or some paint to touch up Woodison.

The clock is ticking on Moyesy.

Dirks Engine Room

Of all the reply post, you answered to the post that doesnt have name and your asking his intergrity of posting! blue24/7 the truth is 7th placing in the league is a big success for you all..as rafa said..your not big enough..as for us finishing outside top 4 is a failure..just ask moyes to learn from kenny how to win a cup in a failure season...10 years on..not a single trophy..go back to your page and tell the truth there......redz for life

Cozinoz...I do not recall typing...that the mighty Blues would do anything of the sort??

I am the most sporting and fair minded fellow you could ever meet...

I she*p you not ;)

Blue247

Redz for life...I take it ...that you agree with my post as you have yet to disagree with it...

When you give an appropriate reply to me then maybe just maybe I may...or may not... think about giving you a bit of consideration... of course I am prone to be fickle this much is certain...Is this clear??

Always concise and to the point... well sometimes ...

Blue247 face it lad you gobbed off all week in the run up to the semi saying everton would beat liverpool and your lot failed! Why dont you learn to stop gobbing off and accept in the end liverpool will also finish above the bitters.

Cow theory of roumours:

- You looked at a cow years ago, the cow may have winked back. Suddenly a wild journo remembers that, writes an article and calls it a day - Recycled rumours;
- Some of your fans are looking at a cow and like the way it grazes. Neither the cow nor you gives a s**t - Player of the day Rumours;
- Some of your fans have heard of a cow that gives AWESOME milk, and if other people say the milk is AWESOME, then the milk truly must be AWESOME! The cow doesn't give a s**t, and you have studied economy, so you don't give a s**t either - Hazard rumours;
- A cow is looking at you, fluttering its eyelids. You don't give a s**t - Agent-fuelled rumours;
- Someone tells someone else that you are looking at a cow. Yoou may be looking at this cow - True rumour;
- You are looking at a cow. The cow is looking back and swinging its tail. There is a chemistry going on. Someone breaks the horrid truth to the world and you are not ashamed at all - ITK rumour.

Have I missed anything?

What is it with the new breed of players and the (mostly unwarranted) demand for champions league. Don't get me wrong, every player should be aspiring to be the best they can be and play at all the best tournaments they can. But players these days don't seem to want to the earn the right, and their place in the ECL they just want to move a club that is already there? It seems that the days of trying to improve your game and that of your team to the desired standard are gone, Now they think they have the divine right to dine at the top table all their careers. There are a few elite players out there that will always have the top clubs sniffing around them, but there are also a lot of lesser quality players chasing ECL football instead of knuckling down and earning it. Take Mr Bale, A superb player, someone who one day will no doubt be playing for one of the big Spanish teams. But in reality this is only his 2nd season in the Prem. He came within a whisker of being sold on. He was saved by two games he played for Wales. He was played as a winger instead of LB and put in 2 M.O.T.M performances and the rest is history. But instead of wanting to fight for Spurs he is slowly starting to roll out the 'I need ECL'. I have also heard that Adam Johnson wants ECL. This is a player who has barely got his league appearances into double figures, Surely regular 1st team action should be the priority. ECL should be the ultimate aim for EVERY professional footballer, it has to be, but they must be willing to work for it and not just expect it!

Maybe its because most us would put playing for Liverpool above any accolade out there, and that we'd would give absolutely anything to have the talent it takes to be able to step out onto Anfield every other week, but it does seem that players perspectives have been very much altered in recent history.

Tommy Walsh

While I agree with your sentiment

The horizon is more than Liverpool

You are looking at it from a Fans Viewpoint

For many players they have more options than just Liverpool on their vision board infact many other clubs are more attractive than Liverpool to them

Sommerset

Sommerset,

Whilst I was writing it from an LFC fan POV, I wasn't suggesting all the big name should come to Liverpool, my post was meant to sum up players in general, and most probably fans of other clubs feel the same. And the sad thing is that your right, at the moment there are quite a few clubs out there with more to offer these players than LFC.
Reading it back my example of Bale didn't come accross how I meant it either, what I was pitching at with Bale is that he's a young player (who hasn't won anything yet) in a very good Spurs team that is going places, and instead of knuckling down and doing what hes paid too, hes talking about how he feels he has right to play for a side in the ECL.

Tommy Walsh

Spot on mate!

I remember watching a show abut Gabriel Batistuta and he said every season he could have gone to one of the "big clubs" and won many championships but that was too easy. He would have got more satisfaction winning at Fiorentina. Granted he did move in the end to win his title but only after 10 years service.

Players now are just lazy and Gareth Bale makes me laugh. He should remember how Spurs stuck by him when he was garbage and injured when he first signed and fight for Spurs. Stupid remarks about leaving if he doesnt get CL really don't sit well with me. We can all move to the top clubs and win trophies that it easy

Great kit. Throw a wig on Pepe and he would look like Clemence.

Pity pepe's not the Cat Clemence was no hair peice can change that

11 May 2012 07:44:06
New Kit - I like it alot, very retro, looks simple and bold. The Liver bird is a master-stroke by Warrior The 96 badge is a touch of class and a nod of respect - just one of the small things that makes our beloved club special & unique - we should all be proud to wear it and I hoping all the players new and old feel the same.

Just a note: Last time we had a simple kit was the Reebok kit that Stevie G wore when winning the CL and the FA Cup (although it looked like he had an XL on) so although I love the Adidas kits - a new retro Warrior kit = a new era of success!

Bring on next season.

YNWA jns

p.s. quick question - when will the players wear the new kit will it be last game of the season or first game of pre-season?

{Ed002's Note - I imagine the pre-season as it is a new shirt sponsor.}

Ed002 - I though so too, but thought id check.

YNWA jns {Ed002's Note - If it were the same sponsor no doubt they would wear as a taster - as Liverpool are planning on doing with the 2012-2013 leopardskin kit at the end of next season. But Adidas will want to get all that they can out of the deal so pre-season seems the likely debut.}

Eds, what's the chances of falcao, Jackson martinez, quintero, armero and cuadrado (excuse the misspelling - from lecce) leaving in the summer and who are their likely destinations? Colombia have a lot of underrated players and I am a fan of their national side!
Cheers mate {Ed002's Note - Some will and some won't leave their clubs. We are not going to start considering lists of random Central and South American players on the Liverpool pages.}

Might not mean much to some but im going to try and keep us updated with the odds for a new manager situation.........
Brendan Rodgers price coming down by the day as is Mourhino both around 6/1 now with some firms as is Martinez, Rafa still at about 5/2 some going 9/4,
Cant see a change myself but its interesting to see what the oddsmakers are making of it all.

Any truth that you know of?

gareth {Ed002's Note - I have not seen the item so cannot comment.}

Lazy journo`s again Gareth.
it is well known that nothing regarding next season, spending, incoming, out goings have even been discussed by owners and management.
FSG will never give a budget a such, just spend what they see fit and proper after weighing up all options.
no doubt a number of exits will be seen this summer, so similar to last summer ins & outs, but personally i expect more out than ins this summer.
Piddy {Ed002's Note - This is simply not true. Sorry.}

Which part Ed002?
Piddy {Ed002's Note - "well known", "spending", "incoming", "out goings" ...}

Just stating that none of them have even been discussed at the club.
various statements from club all point to an end of season discussion and assessment, so how can it be reported in the Mirror?
Piddy {Ed002's Note - All will have been discussed.}

Not with the media tho Ed002, surely?
ok, there are leaks stating KD will get another year..... so to fill a story they latch onto a cut in budget??
i agree at club level things would have deffinately been discussed, just saying its lazy and typical

I'm tried of people making out that Downing and Henderson and Carroll are the worst signings in the world people seem to forget that it takes time to settle into any club no matter how high ur profile is next season watch these 3 they will surprise a lot of people

Suarez seemed to manage to settle in ok.
They havnt been the best signings. and andy carroll has made the most progress recently. i do hope that next season they can perform. im sure they will. i hope they will. YNWA..
UNCLE ZAINY BEAR.

Didn't take Cabaye, Cisse, Ba or Ben Arfa too long either. And all came from different leagues too!

Andy Carroll looked fantastic against Chelsea though. Hopefully it's not a flash in the pan like when he scored to against City last season.

Ash

Settling into the club in my eyes is not the issue here.

Carroll: championship last season, out and out target man no question. he has had to learn a new style of football, he hasnt come to LFC to learn how to flick headers on and hold up the ball he can already do that, he has had to learn how to speed his overall play up massively, and get himself in proper shape. give the lad time, practice makes perfect.

Suarez: players of luis are very few, he could fit in any system, team, due to his creativeness. enviroment and whole new country and language are the barriers to progressing Luis. he feels the love of our fans and likes that feeling of family. Really hope we keep hold of him, he is goin to be a genuine world beater in 2-3 years.

Genuinly, who would swap our front two for any other prem fornt two? and who would it be?

11 May 2012 01:27:17
My 2 cents re: Suarez. I fear there is the chance we may sell him. People say if we sell him for over 30m then we'll have the money to buy world class players to replace.

But lets be frank....how many players of suarez's quality are available for that price or less? How many of those players are attainable without champions league and without paying ridiculous wages?

The answer in my mind is that we cannot replace suarez with a player (or players) of equal worth to the team so that is why I am fearful that the demonisation of this flawed genius is going to rob us of a rare talent that is pretty much irreplaceable.

Just my feelings

The Kit? Love the fact we have gone back to the only badge we have ever won the league title with. The flames will always be with us.

Color ......... Is we now A S Roma ????? {Ed016's Note - It is redder than it seems in the pictures. In the order screen its a brighter red. Either way, its red, I'm not tyra banks, not really bothered on the shade}

The photos with the players modelling look darker, but all other photos look really red. The flames are there too, have a look at the back of the jersey, just under the neck line.

11 May 2012 00:50:15
Eds....what would be the likely current cost of Keisuke Honda and what would his availability be?
I don't normally ask such questions regarding costs and availability as they are almost entirely speculative but I strongly believe he's the type of player we need right now...versatile, relatively "cheap" (?) and productive.
I appreciate he plays in Russia who are on a different time-scale season-wise and, furthermore, that he may be obliged to serve his country in the army at some point (I could be wrong here).
Also, what is Arda Turan's situation?.......Is he available/playing well/affordable?
I've said recently that I'd wait for the season to finish before having a go at individuals and, even now, I don't want to go "over-the-top" but I am compelled to say that Spearing, Carragher and Downing aren't first-teamers.
Enrique just about escapes condemnation due to his good start but shouldn't feel comfortable.
Adam (as I stated months ago) is merely a squad-player at best.
Who we bring in this Summer depends largely on who leaves. Pivotal to these decisions will be the futures of Glen Johnson, Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina, Dirk Kuuyt and Maxi Rodriguez.
I only consider Luis Suarez as a must-keep (and maybe Reina).
The rest would yield £15-18m and relieve us of a hefty wage-bill.
I don't advocate wholesale changes but keeping the likes of Aquilani, Cole, Pacheco and Poulsen doesn't make sense (I can't remember who's on loan or who's been sold, but there's no point keeping players who are neither good enough or ambitious enough to stay with LFC).
My take on things isn't much different to 12 months ago.....sell the money-grabbers, the not-good-enoughs and the too-expensives (a project which the current owners seem to agree with).
Buy a blend of youth,experience and semi-established prospects (which FSG partly go along with.)....ditch the Moneyball "project". Scousers don't really go for "projects", "franchises" and "schemes".
We don't object to the scientific approach but it has to be relevant and when it attempts to trump the ethos and teachings of Paisley and Shankley.....well, that's drawing the line!
We'll persist with FSG's slant on the way our club should be run because, generally, they've absorbed past mistakes well and they've demonstrated a level of "longevity" alien to our previous owners. They also seem genuinely trying to embrace the lfc way (albeit in a "cashing in on our history" way).
My advice to John Henry and Co. at this time would be to stick with Kenny in some capacity, promote Rodolfo Borell and bring in Martinez (maybe). Insist on Suso, Sterling and Adjoran being used more and realise we need top-class players like Dempsey,Honda,Turan, Elm,De Jong,
Muniain,Isla,Soldado,Giroud and Sissokho (not all...obviously!)
I look forward to a Summer of speculation and, no doubt, I'll change my mind a few times over the coming months.
But, returning to my original point....Keisuke Honda wouldn't be a bad buy.
ANFIELDPETE {Ed016's Note - Honda was avaliable a few January windows ago, the time passed. I think he will end up in spain or stay where he is}

Got to say I love the new kit! For a while I didn't like our current Adidas kit and this new one is honesty EXACTLY what I wished for!

Hope others agree!
Thanks, Ell.

I'll be honest. I really like that kit! Mint. Good job I've got a birthday in July! WelshBoyDave

Loving the new kit fellas as I have to admit I was concerned over Warrior's first offering.

Adidas have made some fine looking kits over the years but it's great to see the back of the stripes and back to a plain design (OK I'm getting on a bit).

On first glance I'd have gone for red over yellow but, as with the rest of the design, seems to be a 'hat's off' to the glory days. Please with the '96' logo on the shoulders.

Interestingly, the official website states it will be the kit for 2012-2013. Am I to assume that we will now be changing our home strip every season? As a parent of three young kids it will cost that bit extra but these are the commercial steps we have to take to compete with the big boys on the pitch and that is what it's all about I'm afraid. Money talks.

On a side note, good luck to all the Eds for the upcoming transfer window. I'm also convinced that Macca's identity will be revealed this summer as you never see him post at the same time Thommo is on Soccer Saturday.

The Booter

{Ed016's Note - Cheers.}

You don't know who Macca is yet mate? It's wee Jimmy Krankie. Everybody else knew!

Why not move johnson to the wing? solves the right wing issue, and buy a new left back. Lets admit he is an average defender but an amazing attacker. It is usual to pay an attacking player 80k a week so there would be less need to move him on. Then buy a cheaper option for right back. I personally think it would work. {Ed016's Note - I personally at the end of the season do not think he would have been good on the wing}

Has anyone seen the video to go with the new kit? Have to say i really like it. BIG thumbs up :) also good to see Suaerz modeling it. Is that a hint to him staying?

Peace out

James

send carrol henderson adam out on loan {Ed016's Note - No need to send Carroll. Or Henderson. Adam....yes}

Adam needs to be sold, not loaned out. Rather have meireles back.

What does everyone think of the new kit? I can't decide if I hate it or love it. I like the color and the red and yellow do go together. Not so kean on the crest, as it looks better with the flames. i note they put 96 and two flames on the back of the neck. Will probably buy it. Can't decide if I should get Suarez or Aquilani.... {Ed016's Note - lol mate, don't get names, like NEVER buy the official LFC calander, because they sell the first half of the players inculded in jan and the rest in the summer and by october you have a team full of chelsea players on your wall}

HAHA so true ED:

11 May 2012 00:24:18
I absolutely love the new home kit!
I am glad the crest is now just the gold liverbird. But, they should have had 'YNWA' somewhere on the kit, like the Hillsborough flames..

Stone YNWA.

stop complaining about the kit, its retro, a throwback to the past years, besides you see it on the players it looks good, nice touch with the 96 on the back

May not mean anything, but Suarez is pictured in the new Liverpool kit for the LFC Facebook page.

Some may take this with pinch of salt, others may see it as commitment. {Ed016's Note - tbh Torres was erased in a day from the website/store/stadium}

But ED isnt there a difference because torres wanted to leave surely the board wont put his picture up knowing they want to sell him

Wow really nice kit, better than I expected. Looks really classy and unique.

At first with the new kit I had to rub my eyes...After seeing shots of Skrts, Luis, Bellers and Stevie in it, I actually think it is a really solid kit, no nonsense and quite dominant, hopefully like our play next year.
Bring on next season

Just wondering peoples views on the new kit? I'm a fan tbh, I like how it's not a normal sports top and especially the little '96' in the colar, nice touch. Thoughts eds? {Ed016's Note - I really like it, to be honest, I was always jealous of Arsenals kit when they went a bit retro with the same kind of collar. Considering it is the very first kit produced by Warrior for Liverpool or any Football team, I think it is very well executed. I do love the 96 on the collar, however it is not my view but the families views that matter on the 96 on the collar. My personal opinion, means nothing but I like it there. I think it looks a bit different to most teams, I am slightly iffy about the collar, think it would look better without the front flaps. Annoyed at the quality of the printing of the sponsors logo, wish you could get kits without sponsors for fans, then again my baby picture wouldn't be cute without carlsberg branded across my stomach....probably the best baby in the world. ANYWAY. I like it.}

Absolutely love everything about it mate. Love the colour, the badge, the 96 on the back. I can't wait to grab one to add to my ever-expanding collection.

On a side note - looking at the official site pictures, it actually fits Enrique, so not too sure how much he likes it - will probably put in a transfer request in the summer.

Dunno about everyone else but I like the new kit its old school and different.

KingMiz

I like it mate, simple and a big step up from the last one, which I never really liked. Not sure about the collar on this one, love the 96 logo on the back of the shirt. Definitely will be getting it.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

It is nice to see a football shirt with a collar again, and yeh, love it! won't get much redder than that.

The new kit is brilliant.

Back to the proper Liver Bird badge - big and bold. Simple emblem with no fuss.

Very good kit. For once, I'm genuinely pleased with the simple, paired-down design and focus on the key elements of badge, sponsor, kit brand and colour. Takes me back to the simplicity of Hitachi.

King Tubby

PS - what's in Bellamy's shorts in the lfc.tv photos? Is it a sign he likes the kit too???

Check out the youtube video of the players posing in the new kit - you'll see the number 96 with 2 torches at the back of the shirt just below the collar. JFT96. Singred

Its just a new kit , its good but its the team thats poor.
we need cash from some where to address the problems on the pitch , ok carroll looked good for the last few games but he still misses sitters we need a natural goal scorer.

Is the kit flannel. Retro for sure. Don't know yet as the images on the main site are not very good.

Just seen the new shirt.
Ed002 was spot on saying warrior are going to make a loss on that shocker.
The new badge is good but it should be White, that orange/yellow makes no sense to me at all.
I am still buying it though as I was stupid enough to get some dodgy Spanish girls name on the back of my last one and have not worn it for a while now.

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - Mikey, you should get Ed002 on the back. I'll be around all season.}

The original colour of the crest makes no sense to you?

The orange/yellowy colour you are referring to is the natural colour of the Liverbird!

BthekingB

It's actually growing on me now. I never understood why women when shopping go round every shop in town only to go back to the very first top they have seen, starting to now though.

Kenny staying, and seriously slashed budget according to the Mirror...they reckon he will be looking for bargain signings an free agents along with giving this seasons signings another chance to prove himself. I am very aware it's the mirror saying it, but eds can you confirm if its true? I thought the owners would have waited until the end of the season

Super

Its true. If you want proof of budget slashing, take a look at our new kit. {Ed016's Note - are you joking? really? You know why this is silly. This is the biggest Kit deal in the country. but yeah...budget slashing.....}

If this is the case god help us next season!!

11 May 2012 00:08:07
Sorry folks dont like new kit,very plain....

...that's the beauty. No surplus fluff, just a big Liver Bird.

I've always thought our badge was too fussy - too much stuff on it. There's no need to put everything on the badge - just the key symbol, the Liver Bird (which was way too small until now).

The Shankly Gates exist in reality, as does the Hillsborough Memorial - there's no need to put these on. Liverpool's logo is the Liver Bird. Simple.

The entire transfer/ scouting department will be given their marching orders. They have been an abject failure. Selling Luis Suarez even for 30M plus would be a huge mistake. Liverpool need to build their team around him rather than use band aid solutions

11 May 2012 00:06:25
The new Liverpool FC home kit is very nice! I will be purchasing it as soon as I can. Very original for a Liverpool top and I love the polo style. Think I'll either have Carroll or Lucas on the back of it.

BthekingB

Sorry Lucas is already taken!!

11 May 2012 00:06:07
who thinks that the shorts for the new kit are way too long?? someone could have asked the players

Definitly should have gone proper retro and consulted John Barnes on short length {Ed016's Note - for full movement}

They're look the same length on luis suarez as the adidas ones, just above the knee!
if we're picking holes then i'd say the adidas kit we currently have has sleeeves too long, most of the players have sleeves down to their elbows!

You could hide a keg of beer down them short's!!

They probably did ask the players, and i think you'll find that players generally wear their shorts at whatever length they like. Even on the current kit, look at Skrtel's shorts compared to i think... Hendo wears his shorter.

11 May 2012 00:03:50
Come back adidas all is forgiven!

I too have just seen the new kit. F***in mint!

Old, retro, looks like a strange firbe material. mm yummy

Hope away kit is purple LOL

Ben the red

I agree Ben it does look good. I was wondering were the Hillsborough flame was. But that is on the neckline along with 96.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Yeah the number 96 is a real nice touch blair.

I couldnt find it at first, was lookin really hard at the collar haha, then watched the youtube vid :)

And, Fibre* not fibre, im not spanish ha.

Its all part of the diversity of our readers. I'll be happy to discuss architecture and design (particularly of the new stadium) if you're interested. Perhaps you can give me a good recipe for lemon sorbet.... or Macca?
