I was wondering if Liverpool have had any bids knocked back for any player as of yet? And is the lack of activity purely down to Klopp being away? Seems unlikely that the club doesn't already have Jurgens preferred targets and isn't pursuing them regardless of Klopps holiday. Cheers.

11 Jun 2016 23:27:27
Proviionally Signed 3 players already. Transfer window hasn't opened. Euros and Copa America on. Explain lack of activity.

12 Jun 2016 09:13:06
Actually the July 1st date is only applicable to the summer transfer windows in La Liga, the Bundesliga and Serie A. The 2016 summer transfer window opened on Thursday, June 9 for Premier League clubs. This was also the case for France's Ligue 1.
As for the club's dealings, I'm sure - as always - we'll find out here first contrary to suggestions by some television and media outlets that they are first.

11 Jun 2016 19:18:58
Seems like the Welsh reds are creeping out of the woodwork after snagging off Skrtel.

Country before club, ay?

Doesn't surprise me.

Believable4 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - or perhaps they just remembered how Skrtel was crap for us and how he held the club to ransom for a new contract after a transfer request was refused. Oh and how he was dropped completely from the squad due to having an awful attitude.}

11 Jun 2016 19:59:22
thank god someone agrees with me. i thought and still think skrtel is an awful footballer. can't control a ball, can't pass a ball, gives away silly free kicks in dangerous areas and heads a ball the way he's looking. looks like a thug and plays like a thug. btmo.

11 Jun 2016 20:25:55
Skyrtyl is mistake waiting to happen. Should have gone when city offered the cash for him. I'm Welsh, but he irritates me when playing for lfc, the man handling in the area is a pet hate. Sooner he is gone the better.

12 Jun 2016 00:03:30
I still think skrtel was great when he had either Agger or Carrager next to him and Reina behind him. His decline, in my opinion, seems to be because he is a soldier, not a leader. Skrtel seems to really need someone barking orders at him. I could be completely wrong, but it is just my observation.

12 Jun 2016 00:40:21
The elbow was shocking as people have rightfully said. And the challenge he flew into could have caused someone serious damage. They were absolutely reckless and people saying 'that's just the game' etc. need to wake up. It's not the 70's/ 80's anymore, the physicality isn't the same and being able to do dissect the footage in multiple frames a second means you've got to be a lot more aware of your actions on and off the ball.

I acknowledge he's our player and I respect that. He's been with the club along time. That being said, I wish him all the best in wherever he goes because I sure as hell hope it isn't with us next season.

12 Jun 2016 14:30:44
The guy is a disaster and has been for years and yesterday proved that again. What other proof do Skrtel's apologists want?

11 Jun 2016 18:57:56
Skirtle is a disgrace at times, should have been off in that game.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

11 Jun 2016 19:10:13
Nearly severe someone head with that tackle.

12 Jun 2016 04:13:48
I know most of you won't like it but I prefer Skrtel to both Lovern and Sakho.

Sakho has two left legs and apart from the occassional pass from the deep and 1/ 2 heading ability has cost a lot to the club.

Lovern plays on icy instincts and doesn't have the patience to wait for a sec on the player and goes into challenges, headers and clearances and mostly comes second best.

As someone pointed out earlier Skrtel isn't a leader and not a ball playing defender. Yeah he kepps pulling shirts and makes few awkward tackles like yesterday but there was no malign intent but the way he tackled it went wrong. The shoulder barge was not executed properly.

I will not be surprised to see all disagreeing to this but hope at least one or to agreeing to it.

Cheers,
SamiKewell.

{Ed001's Note - you are joking right? The things you slag off the other two for, Skrtel is far worse for.}

12 Jun 2016 08:41:57
No. It's my take on Skrtel. If he leaves it is ok.

Hope Matip and any new CB that we buy will better than Lovern and Sakho.

{Ed001's Note - but you seem to have missed the point, you are complaining that Sakho has two left feet, when he is left footed, when Skrtel has two left feet, but is right footed. You complain Lovren is rash, when Skrtel is far more rash. He is a pussy of a defender who spent over 6 months bottling headers after a clash of heads with Carragher, who carried straight on as normal, even though he was at least as badly hurt by the clash. He is up there with Enrique as one of the worst player we have had in recent years and somehow people are fooled into believing this hopeless case is a decent defender because he has tattoos and looks the part!}

12 Jun 2016 09:11:41
It's ok if we differ.

But whoever comes should be first team material and not another with potential. If not we should give Joe Gomez and Joel Matip the chance to be our 1st choice CB pairing.

With Joe Allen we will have 3 Joes in the team.

Jurgen Joes 11.

{Ed001's Note - hopefully Joe Allen will not be in the team, he is clearly nowhere near good enough for the bench, let alone team.}

12 Jun 2016 10:36:28
I'm 99% sure he's on a wind up Ed dint bite anymore!

12 Jun 2016 14:34:41
Bledd is prolly right about the wind up post. Or Sami is completely deluding himself and is a Skrtel apologist who sees him as one who can do no wrong. Sami, can you clarify your position?

12 Jun 2016 15:52:42
Agree completely with Ed01 on Joe Allen. I just included him to say we might end up with 3 Joe's next season.

He has been good professional and wish him well.

However I'd prefer Skrtel over Lovern and Sakho anytime.

12 Jun 2016 15:55:14
'Sakho has two left legs' good job he's left footed then! 😂.

11 Jun 2016 18:55:53
Liverpool are again being linked with Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko and with Teixiera being offered a new deal you would have to assume the Gotze deal is unlikely. Juventus have apparently opened negotiations for the Bayern Munich man. Yarmolenkos agent posted a video last month in Liverpool offices so hopefully this time there is some substance to the rumours. The Ukrainian league may not be the strongest but the majority of big talents who have left to join bigger European leagues have done well. Players such as Willian, Fernandinho, Douglas Costa, Fernando, Mkhitaryan and Yarmolenkos former teammate Konoplyanka. Alex Teixera was another star from the Ukranian league who Liverpool tried to sign in January before he got greedy and moved to China. I'm still praying we can get Gotze but if we miss out signing Yarmolenko would certainly soften the blow.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

11 Jun 2016 19:16:54
What are you on about? Teixeira was released by the club.

11 Jun 2016 19:18:29
My bad. Looks like he was offered a deal to ensure compensation?

11 Jun 2016 20:50:03
He was offered a deal to ensure that he won't go for the cheap, but refused it, and will leave this summer. If he moves outside England, LFC only get 250K which is why he was offered a new deal by the looks of it.

11 Jun 2016 22:11:06
Thanks, AG.

11 Jun 2016 18:55:44
Good lad Danny Ward, ill tell you what he's a big unit the lad too i never realised!
Good start for Wales.

11 Jun 2016 18:55:17
Skrtl is a disgraceful footballer. The same crap he does at lfc he does when he is playing for his country. What goes on in his head? He should of been sent off against Wales.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

11 Jun 2016 19:16:18
Fickle you.

Skrtel leaving then?

Typical balloon head Liverpool supporter.

You one of them who defended Suarez then started mouthing off after he left?

11 Jun 2016 20:19:36
fickle? hardly. i can't remember the last time anyone posted anything remotely positive about skrtel. if anything, he is a player we have been utterly consistent about in our frustrations with him. and as for suarez. the kind of person you are describing is very much in the minority.

11 Jun 2016 20:26:55
No davey, he had an awful game and should have been sent off thems just the facts nothing to do with being fickle.

11 Jun 2016 20:28:18
Daveybootle- no because Suarez is a genius of a footballer.

11 Jun 2016 20:39:45
Davey Bootle clearly never watched the game. He was a disgrace and should of been sent off two separate occasions.

11 Jun 2016 21:17:49
Davey is probably skrtl's uncle or something. Defending a player like suarez is understandable as his contribution is often far more than his actions, defending skrtl who is useless and adds nothing to our team is just mindless.

11 Jun 2016 23:20:57
Nonsence couts, suarez deserved to be critisized and he certainly was by me.

12 Jun 2016 02:00:22
Davey is not Skrtel's uncle. He is Jaimie Kanwar.

12 Jun 2016 06:50:37
I think davey is abit bitter about the fact we have a better national team.

11 Jun 2016 18:55:15
Well done to both Danny Ward and Joe Allen, now for them to send England home and it'll be a good summer.

Believable14 Unbelievable4

11 Jun 2016 19:30:12
Steady on!
They only beat Slovakia. now you think they can take England out. 😂.

11 Jun 2016 19:54:01
England are overrated.

11 Jun 2016 20:31:15
Welshman here, but I think England are dark horses for the euros. Wales after today tho have a win in the bad and nothing to lose. England have all the pressure.

11 Jun 2016 22:41:08
Lol redphil. England have been the darkest horses for eternity. If they win it I'll give a hundred quid to charity. Hell if they even they get out of the group I'll give twenty quid.

11 Jun 2016 18:31:30

Disgusting my Skirtl, player not much chance of getting ball and he flings out his elbow and bundles player over in box, how officials let that go is beyond me, I'd have thought penalty and a red card.
He needs to go, too reckless.

11 Jun 2016 18:46:31
Been a damn good servant for Liverpool. These things happen in football, doesn't mean he's scum like your making out. Yes its time for him to leave but got to respect him for what he's done for us in the past.

11 Jun 2016 18:59:19
Skrtel really let himself down today. Absolutely disgraceful from him numerous times.

11 Jun 2016 19:47:36
It's just time to thank him and let him move to Turkey.

11 Jun 2016 17:32:05
A poster down the page asking about good autobiography's, Paul Mcgrath's book is a fantastic read, it's maybe about 10 years old if not longer but it's probably the best one I've read, how he produced those levels of performance bladdered is quite frankly staggering. He had a terrible start in life which explains why he ended up the way he did.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

11 Jun 2016 17:49:33
Paul mc Grath was a fantastic defender and would have been one of the greats only for injuries and obviously the drink.

{Ed001's Note - he was a great anyway.}

11 Jun 2016 17:57:56
he made the game look so easy, and that was with dodgy knees!

11 Jun 2016 19:25:19
Always under the impression he couldn't train due to his knees, yet still performed at a high level.

Boss player.

11 Jun 2016 17:16:03
What the absolute f**k.

Joe Allen spraying passes around like xabi, why doesn't he do that for us.

Believable11 Unbelievable1

11 Jun 2016 17:28:25
Said he's been playing like this for Wales for a long time.

Everyone focuses on Ramsey and quite rightly Bale but Allen been good in qualifiers.

11 Jun 2016 17:55:03
As a Welshman myself it stuns me how good Allen is for Wales. Not quite sure how he can't do the same for Liverpool.

11 Jun 2016 18:28:27
I always thought hw was capable of long range passing and then I do and don't and do again but he just doesn't do it for us, like once in a blue moon.

Watch the wales game and within ten minutes he's made two peaches straight to feet.

If he did that in the prwm players wouldn't know wether to press him or stand off and he would develop more time and fit nicely into our kidfield. He keeps the ball to ling and then just taps it right next to him over and over.

Actually shocked haha and fumin. And dissapointed.

11 Jun 2016 18:50:04
That's it. We have to be open minded and think he'll end up like that for us, fingers crossed I mean let's be honest, the lad improved under klopp. I'm sure we will see exciting things from him next season. I hope so anyway.

11 Jun 2016 19:20:47
Allen was decent today but I mostly see him pass backwards. Could be a bit more positive on the ball. Happy for Wales!

11 Jun 2016 20:35:34
2nd half of season Allan been class. Have you been watching lfc. Klopp has had him playing more forward, imo I would keep him.
On another note I remember loads on here saying when we sign. Great we got him and not gaston ramerez. Always makes me chuckle.

11 Jun 2016 22:45:17
He plays how he's asked to play. He has a different role for Wales, Liverpool look elsewhere to do that. He's always been a great passer.

12 Jun 2016 06:55:52
Its the lack of pressure playing for wales. We are not expecting much other than effort and you can see it in his perfomance.

11 Jun 2016 16:59:37
Good luck to Danny Ward!

11 Jun 2016 16:23:14
Anyone listening to Johnny Giles at the moment on a "designated holding midfielder"? Basically saying it's a waste of a player to have someone just there to win the ball and not play. I agree with him in parts that if you look at Liverpool with can and Henderson there's no reason they can't defend and win the ball back between them and also play with it from deep. Just a take on all these people saying we'll get no where without this holding midfielder. My personal opinion is of the back 4 and keeper are good enough and the rest of the team has confidence in them that you don't need this almost 5th defender. I don't think we have that at the moment with lb and keeper weak as everyone knows but if we fix them I think a lot of other problems become moot. Just my take on it anyway.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

11 Jun 2016 17:21:35
Depends on what formation you want to play really.

11 Jun 2016 17:23:50
I fully agree Shanek. Can and a fit Jordan have the power, pace and technical skills to be a perfect midfield duo, taking it in turns to join the attack.

11 Jun 2016 22:05:51
It's about balance. If you want your full backs to push on you need someone in there to stop the quick counter. Also a holding player usually has a few options to pass to so. Don't need to be that creative on the ball.

11 Jun 2016 15:02:17
Interesting news.

Sounds like Danny Ward will be starting in goal for Wales today in their match against Slovakia.

I really hope Ward impresses and shows Jurgen just how good he is, as I fear he is one that will be let go sooner or later at this rate. I'm sure a good performance in the Euro's will keep him in good stead.

Also, good luck to all the reds playing in the Euro's and the Copa America. To these who will soon leave Liverpool, I hope your performances garner further interest. And to the Liverpool players staying with us, I hope you have a good tournament and continue that momentum into pre season.

YNWA.

Danny Ward has agreed terms on a new five year deal.
Will be loaned out next season with Swansea the most likely destination.

11 Jun 2016 16:14:25
Any basis for the Swansea claim mate? Would be a very good loan move if he could get game time there!

11 Jun 2016 17:51:52
I thought he had already agreed a loan move to Huddersfield. It is Klopps friend Wagner who is manager.

11 Jun 2016 22:07:36
Is that the lad from x-factor?
Good to see someone do well out of it. Lol.

11 Jun 2016 14:58:49
Danny Ward looks as if he might start for Wales today. I hope it isn't too big a stage for him and he has a blinder.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

11 Jun 2016 15:19:05
Great opportunity for him.

11 Jun 2016 14:23:59
Hopefully we don't sign players based on a good performance in an international tournament, memories of El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao bossing a game against France and we end up signing both and we know how that turned out.

Is it true Ed Houllier refused an option of making Anelka's loan permanent in favour of signing Diouf?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we never bought either on the back of a tournament, Diouf was signed prior to the World Cup and Diao along with him as a friend to help him settle. Ged rejected the chance to sign Anelka because he Nic liked to ask questions and Ged hated anyone who didn't just follow orders.}

11 Jun 2016 15:01:04
Didn't we sign Berger on the back of a good tournament. Didn't work out to badly.

11 Jun 2016 15:25:27
Hey ed, did his emergence in the World Cup influence our decision to sign Origi, or had he been a target before that?

{Ed001's Note - every performance influences the decision mate, that is why you watch them over and over. The fact that he stepped up in big games was very much a deciding factor though.}

11 Jun 2016 15:34:39
Loved Paddy Berger, super player!

11 Jun 2016 16:15:09
Remember watching diouf and thinking wow we have signed a worldie here.
What a massive disappointment he was as a footballer and a man.

11 Jun 2016 16:17:33
We signed Karel Poborski based on 1 stunning goal, complete waste of money.

11 Jun 2016 16:27:22
When did Liverpool sign poborsky?

11 Jun 2016 16:33:40
I remember meeting paddy in Southport. Lovely bloke and signed an autograph for everyone. He was only out with his Mrs but he stood and greeted everyone.

{Ed001's Note - Paddy was great, he would always have time for people whenever I saw him. I can remember him having a kickabout with us and running rings round everyone.}

11 Jun 2016 16:34:21
Poborski never played for LFC, only ManU.

11 Jun 2016 18:00:15
Look at the person who posted the Poborsky comment's profile pic - may give some idea re who they support.

11 Jun 2016 22:10:28

There's a website called either soccerlord. se or soccerlord. is that sell shirts for £18 and I think they will send them anywhere, me and my mates have bought around 5 shirts from them now and they all seem to be genuine, hope this helps.

11 Jun 2016 16:22:22
Not much money to be made in licensed shirts. Tight margins. You need to sell something on the back of them that makes good margins. They are often loss leaders for foot traffic/ website traffic.

A fantastic warts and all biography of the legendary Brazilian footballer, Garrincha, that I would recommend is Ruy Castro's 'Garrincha: The Triumph and Tragedy of Brazil's Forgotten Footballing Hero'. Might be what you are looking for, albeit from a different era.

If the former Manchester City player, Michael Johnson, ever writes an autobiography, then I imagine that this would provide an alternative view of the footballing dream.

{Ed001's Note - Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and Me by Michael Yates. Good lad and interesting read from a lad who was in our academy but never made it.}

11 Jun 2016 11:26:49
Has balotelli released one yet!?

11 Jun 2016 11:32:04
The Secret Footballer. There is 4 books and they are all brilliant. Re-read each of them at least 3x each while on holiday. His identity is kept secret as a lot of the stories would probably end up with him in court if his name was out. 100% recommend them.

11 Jun 2016 11:45:43
'An epic swindle-44 months with a pair of Cowboys' is a great re-telling of our clubs woes under the Hicks and Gillette ownership. Well worth a read.

Sorry for the bog-standard question, but is there any interest in Yarmolenko? His agent was in Liverpool London HQ apparently anyway. Would seem like a good addition. Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Dynamo Kyiv managed to persuade Yarmolenko not to move this past summer and managed to get him to sign a new contract. There has been interest over the past year from Roma, Spurs, Stoke, Fiorentina, Everton, Inter and Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen, Valencia, Napoli and Manchester City all dropped their interest and PSG, who were considering Yarmolenko as a possible option to replace Lavezzi this past summer, seem to have done the same. Yarmolenko has expressed a desire to move to Barcelona or Chelsea - and there has been more than one approach made directly to the Chelsea to gauge their interest. Right now I would discount Barcelona but not Milan or possibly Napoli. Whilst an approach was made to the agent of Yarmolenko by Arsenal in the summer, nothing could be done. He spent the summer screwing everyone around and there is still a lingering view he could do the same again. I don't know if anything can be done by Everton, Arsenal or even Barcelona, but Piero Ausilio was at a game to look again at him earlier in the year - so Inter might still be in the mix, but money will be an issue for them unless they can move players on. Again, interest of Dortmund may remain. So for now everything is up in the air - but interest will begin to drop away if he again drags everything out. A representative of Prostar was doing the rounds in Turkey and England during March and April regarding their charges - particularly two other players. I am not aware of anyone raising anything regarding Yarmolenko, but they may have done. Dynamo Kyiv will look to a very significant fee which could easily remove some of the interested clubs who may not see value for money. Milan remains the most likely to start getting embroiled in to what could be a lengthy negotiation.}

11 Jun 2016 11:33:58
Sounds like one to avoid.

11 Jun 2016 11:55:58
I think given what Ed has said here and how notoriously difficult it is to negotiate with Ukrainian clubs, I would rather we dodged this one. If Payet has proved anything, its that there is talent out there, you just have to try harder.

11 Jun 2016 12:01:14
I actually think that because there isn't much news coming out of Anfield tabloid hacks have resorted to making things up, hence the rehashed link to Tello and the lazy link to a Southampton player.

Transfer window only opens on 1st July and players are at the Euros and copa America. Plus we have already done three bits of business already which when you examine them are reasonably shrewd pieces of work, with Karius being very highly rated, Matip being one of the best centre halves in the Bundesliga and Grujic having a big reputation for a young lad. I suppose until we see someone leaning at melwood it is all speculation, the thing I am looking forward to is an Ed002 update as it gives us a clue as to what is happening.

11 Jun 2016 08:37:28
Hi Eds,

Zielinski rumours are hotting up again. I think he would be a good addition. Look a decent player. Is it true we have bid 10M?

Cavani will sign on Tuesday. €60 million deal involving Joe Allen and Tiago Illori going the other way.

Hi Ed's and Reds

Just thought i'd try and break up the usual posts during silly season.

Hypothetically who would you guys take from any of the relegated teams? Personally i would take Wijnaldum (spelling) from Newcastle as he is pretty versatile and seemed to be half decent.

Would really love to hear an ed's point of view view if any of you have time.

{Ed001's Note - no one, there were no players worth having that did not suffer long term injuries in those teams. Steer well clear.}

I agree Ed i guess in my head i was thinking if i had to choose someone. Just to make it clear to everyone I'm not saying someone we should sign it's more banter to get peoples personal opinion.

Cheers for the reply Ed and all of the hard work you guys do!

Wijnaldum is a decent player but isn't any better than what we have. Mitrovic looks like he has the potential to be a great player but is a loose cannon and we already have Ings and origi yet to reach their potential so wouldn't need him. Villa have a couple of half decent players but none would be a step up on anything we have. I'd say all 3 have keepers I'd have more confidence in than mignolet- and I wouldn't want any of them!

11 Jun 2016 12:05:36
fair enough i was more thinking wijnaldum would be good for the bench mainly due to his flexibilty and he chips in with a few goals. i'd take Krul if he wasnt injured aswell think he is a good goalie!

{Ed001's Note - Wijnaldum's attitude stinks, which is why Rafa dropped him. In fact there are a very small number of players there at Newcastle who do not have a stinking attitude, which was their problem and why they went down.}

11 Jun 2016 13:56:24
Disagree with you on that one Ed. They just lacked a really good tactics-savvy manager like Sherwood. You should only look at Villa, what a great season they had even if Sherwood was there for just a short time.

- Krishna.

{Ed001's Note - seriously? You just made yourself look foolish with that as Sherwood is barely able to wipe his nose without help! The guy is pure arrogance and has no idea about tactics, which was what got him the sack at both Spurs and Villa. His only skill is enthusiasm. He is utter dog turd as a manager, only good for a short term boost.}

Ed, I think it may have been sarcasm mate.

11 Jun 2016 15:40:19
Krishna that's the funniest post I've ever read.

I'd take krul. Always liked the lad.

So i thought i'd give my half-arsed and completely unasked for opinion on what i want to happen for next year. There is a short term part of me that wants us to go out and buy ourselves a title.
However we don't have european football next season, so we lack the resources to do this. Furthermore we have a great coach who can, and has, turned ordinary players into extraordinary ones and we have some exceptionally talented youngsters who need game time. So the best thing for the clubs long term good is to not go out and buy some players.
The key for this transfer window is to strengthen a few key positions, like Lb, and to move on a lot of players. I would personally like to see the likes of benteke, skrtel, allen, lallana, milner, and moreno leave from the current first team, along with balotelli, illori, etc.
We don't need to buy a new Rw, with branngan, Ojo, Canos and Ibe all capable of playing there i would prefer to give them a chance, with the knowledge that origi can cover for big games or we can move to 3 in midfield or a front 2 in big games.
I think the key to a successful season next year is getting back in europe and setting ourselves up for the long term and blooding younger players is the best way to do this, which means not buying a whole new team.
So, ideally, the only remaining signings would be chilwell and possibly hector. If Coutinho was to leave then someone like Praet or Zielinski, young but with more experience than what we have and won't demand all the game time to still give our younger players a shot, and maybe the likes of dahoud to shore up the midfield. And a new goalkeeping coach!
We've got Klopp and a few fantastic players, let's give him time to work his magic before demanding a new team which we can't afford.

I remember we signed Phil Babb because he looked like a world class central defender, what we failed to realise was that he only looked good because he played alongside a world class centre back in Paul Mcgrath who told him where to stand and covered up his mistakes.

11 Jun 2016 09:14:31
Our current squad wasn't good enough for top 6 this season, what makes you think that the same squad will do any different next season? There are serious problems that need addressing, if we don't buy the right players next season will be a write off as well. As things stand I think the best we can hope for is mid table obscurity as we don't have enough top class quality to compete. Of course I would like to be proven wrong, but I am being realistic. You don't win titles without a top class centre midfielder and we lack any real pace or guile.

11 Jun 2016 10:50:13
Our current squad wasn't good enough for top 6?
Well actually it was. Klopp took over we were in 9th if I'm not mistaken? If you look at our results towards the end of the season also while we focused on the el we could have had an extra 7 points I can easily think of just taking out collapses and goalkeeping errors (which hopefully could be better with karius) . If we had focused on the league we had opportunities at times to be going for the top 4 let alone top 6.
Also injuries you can't ignore the fact that we had no strikers for a period of time just after klopp came in while he was trying to change the style.
And the fact that we had to change our game plan and style of play without a preseason which will obviously take time. Now hopefully with last season and a preseason this year we should be well able to start off better.
Finally I know it's used all the time now but for good reason. Leicester went from skin of their teeth survival to champions without overhaul just pinpointing a couple of key areas like the op said and then working on the harmony and team ethic. To say that this squad has no chance of top 6 is a joke I'm afraid when there any number of external causal effects that had an effect on last season. Again I'm not trying to say we'll definitely be up there but on our day we showed last season we cn beat anyone so it's only one game at a time and as long as in every game we have a chance to win which I think we do then we Have a chance to achieve anything.

11 Jun 2016 10:54:36
I loled at Paul Mcgrath being world class.

11 Jun 2016 12:08:16
Sorry Shane but we weren't good enough for top six, where did we finish? League table does not lie, it never has. You cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

11 Jun 2016 12:55:08
If the league table fine then by that logic the team from 17th went to first with little to no tinkering. Why can't we make a jump up the table 4 or 5 places if they can 16? You're just ignoring another part of the post to defend one small part.

11 Jun 2016 13:07:14
We were 9th when Klopp took over and where did we finish? Not a massive improvement is it? It may be easier to build up some momentum without European football but like some have said there are still big weaknesses in our squad. LB is still a big worry. Midfield is still carries huge defensive deficiencies in my opinion. I'm not happy with our main midfield trio of Can, Milner and Hendo as all are too similar, great when we are on top but leave far too big a holes behind them. We definitely need width unless Marko has a change of heart. I don't think Ibe is good enough but Ojo should be given chances throughout the coming season. Stewart should be given chances to bed himself into the midfield trio in preseason in my opinion. I'm not convinced our forwards are top four quality. Ings, Origi have potential but also have big question marks along with Daniel's ability to stay fit for the full season but this isn't priority so should be given next season to prove themselves. We have to remember that despite Klopp being here for the past few months this is still his first proper window to put his stamp on things hus first preseason and his first full season. All issues aren't going to be sorted. Next season isn't going to be perfect.

11 Jun 2016 14:44:50
mr Dennis, i have to disagree with you on you mid table point, yes we finished 6th, but look at the number of games we played to the teams above us, we got to 2 finals yes i know what your going to say we never won any of them but to me watching them finals it showed we never had the experience of the teams we played against in them, then we had the injuries to key players and had to depend on youngsters, are you really saying Sturridge would not have scored more goals if he was not injured, then we had a new manager coming in because the old manger we had played players out of position, but to be honest i believe in the players and the manager and the team won't be a mid table team, Klopp is not a mid table manager he's a winner and he does improve players and has already bought some decent players as well, all i think we need now is a very good left back and a 20 goal a season striker.

11 Jun 2016 16:29:43
Mbrock do you not think if which it looks likely we'll play one up top that we have enough in sturridge origi and ings even without benteke that's plenty for 45 odd games imo unless you would be thinking of getting rid of one? Personally I would prefer a wider forward that can provide goals if we were going for a attacking player. I feel lalanna/ Milner are more replaceable in thxe team than sturridge / origi / ings.
