Who does everyone think has the best league in the world? Personally I think the Bundesliga is the best. Affordable tickets (you can get a season ticket at Bayern Munich for about £100), the clubs milk the big corporates, technically gifted players, clubs give young German players a chance, and all clubs have to make a profit. Typical sensible Germans, always getting it right!

El Pi**edolero

Not so sure about the tickets part are you telling us it £2.63 a game.

KUMBER {Ed001's Note - it is very cheap. I could fly to Germany, take in a Bundesliga game and have food and drink while there, then fly back, for less than it would cost me to go to Anfield to take in a match.}

Not sure its the best league but i do wish season tickets were a hell of a lot cheaper abd i love the way players are given a chance...Its a real shame football became a middle class game in many ways.

I realise many people will slate me for saying that, but while i love watching football and appreciate skills, goals, teamwork etc etc the money the players get is STUPID! And we are all paying for those ridiculous fees and Shi+t head agents who increase players worth to ridiculous proportions!

I would love to see players who consistently do not seem to care get there money taken away from them

If i have a bad day...i get sacked. Players who cant be bothered Like ballotelli walk around like they own the country....man i would take every penny off him and make him swim back to Italy...for free

Bitch over
Gareth

Hi, I do watch Bundesliga whenever I get a chance and I think its one of the best league (better than La Liga). Its fast ,technical as well as physical they attack very quick with their wingers and the defenders are a beast in most of the team. I personally think that thier players will be very well suited for Premier league

Ed001 you must live very far from anfield

Best joke I've heard from a poitician. A women MP (can't remember her name) was being grilled by the MP's select committee who posed the question could a woman could truly make it to the top in a "man's world" and become manager of a premiership football team.To which she replied "Yes of course, although it may take a while untill Chelsea run out of contenders....this was on radio four I nearly crashed the car laughing...

ED001 any deal for Sturridge is dependant on Chelsea signing a striker don't you think? {Ed001's Note - I would expect Chelsea to sign a striker regardless of what happens with Sturridge.}

Yes but the guardian who are a reliable paper are running that we are close to signing him but premature i'd think as Chelsea would have to sign a striker before they decide to let him leave {Ed001's Note - I don't think that is anything to do with him, he is not seen as a striker.}

Evidence ie at bolton when he plays regularly he scores regularly, would take this burden off luis, he can switch to central if needed, i think he d be delighted to be just playing at a club like liverpool every week. i doubt his wage demands will be exhorbitant maybe 50-60 k a week, comparable to ther strikers you d expect to get 15 goals a season.
one thing i do like about him is his coolness in front of goal, he can finish....

so can walcott

a sturridge suarez walcott frontline has goals in it

i know not everyones ideal lineup but for where we are lacking ie goals from wide forwards both these players would be great for us at this moment in time

tom1975 {Ed001's Note - he is on a lot more than that and won't accept less.}

I actually think sturridge could be a very shrewd signing and that in a years time 12 million will look like a bargain

he is likelyto score

Just got to say i had faith in Rodgers even when we played terrible start of season and when other fans saying he wasnt 'good' enough. He just seems perfect for us, glory days are coming back.

Love how Liverpool got hammered of various pundits and fans by how 'bad' we've played. We had our worse start to season but are only 4 points of Everton who are 4th or 5th and have had an amazing start. We are clearly not a club in turmoil and with a manager who doesnt know what he's doing.......
Top 4 IS possible.

We are still bad along with many of the teams and even the fourth placed team will most likely finish more than 20 points behind man u.

11 Dec 2012 22:01:28
Not Liverpool related but does the man with the forehead that you could fit two faces on have any feet because watching him versus Bradford he looks as though hs legs just taper to nothing!
Anyone else notice?

Jack the Groove {Ed001's Note - eh?}

I'm guessing gervinho ed001

Square tomato {Ed001's Note - ah ok, couldn't he have just said that?}

To be fair ed001, his forehead can fit another face. haha.

Arsenal fans about 5 or so years late mimicking our macherano song.like when they mimicked our old in rafa we trust banner.where would leauge be without our fans superb originality?!

I've noticed a lot of teams copy off Liverpool in a lot of things..... Even Rooney doing the Suarez guns celebration over weekend lol.....

11 Dec 2012 21:58:10
If Samaras comes to Liverpool. I will never go to a Liverpool game again in my life. Even to be linked with him is embarassing. He is awful.

I am sure we'll all lose a lot of sleep over that

Two years ago we signed Poulsen. That is all

OP, have you been to a Liverpool game? ... have you! come on admit it ... dont worry you can tell us the truth .. you never been and you talking out of your rear hole.

Roy

I agree he si't good enough but to sa you wouldn't go to a liverpool match if he does come is just pathetic and the club could do without fans like you.
Who ever comes in, whether they were my choice or not, I will support

Give Brendan some credit. He will not buy Samaras He is not bloody stupid.

Can't believe i wasted my time reading that ........... and writing this for non-loyal fans.
Whoever we get we support them.
Except fergie.

Beware on saturday redmen! villa appear to have hit some form.

And we are chasing a third premier league win in a row, with both Suarez and Lucas back in the starting XI. Why should we fear them? They should fear us.

11 Dec 2012 21:17:43
Evening eds and reds,
I read the page everyday and I see alot of people don't like sturridge but I think of him as a left footed welbeck who is doing a good job at Manu and could easily get us 15 goals a season. Suarez is our Rooney and rvp, sturridge could become welbeck, borini could become our Hernandez. If borini and sturridge could get 30 between them plus Suarez's 20 odd we should easily get top four and maybe even a title challenge next year if we do good business.
Just my thoughts
Thanks
Keatz {Ed001's Note - Welbeck is awful! He is the reincarnation of Djimi Traore.}

I don't rate welbeck either ed but he does know where the net is I would take anyone who can score at the moment.
Thanks
Keatz {Ed001's Note - Welbeck scores goals because of his team mates, not because of his talent. I could score goals playing up front for United, they create plenty of chances, doesn't make me a good goalscorer though.}

That a bit harsh........on Jimi

Haha you reds really are laughable. Had a bad day in work today but I can always count on you bitters to make me giggle.

Jay EFC

Ed member djimis cracker of an own goal in the worthington cup as it was called then member sitting in me brothers house watching that game and he was going mental i was shocked he could pull a piece of skill of like that djimis was doing 360s looking for the ball like it went through a black hole,mark {Ed001's Note - I still cringe thinking about it.}

Welbeck is so so bad! He's only in the England team because he plays for man united.

Square tomato

Why compare the mighty reds to United ? perhaps Dalglish could be our Fergie, Stevie Heighway our Giggs .... cmon boys lets start with a more positive outlook

Tel 1949

Sturridge is a good finisher and gets goals fromthe wide forward position, someting we are very much lacking.... he will def add to the squad and could well prove to be a very astute signing

Hi EDS,

Sorry to bother you again I was wondering what, if any, are your thoughts on Fernando Forestieri. I know he is on loan from Udinese but do you think he has promise or not .Still young at 22 and goal scoring record not to bad.

Many Thanks

dub96 {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen a lot of him, just highlights and that is no way to judge a player.}

11 Dec 2012 20:50:43
Eds,

Sturridge and Walcott would you be happy if we could sign both in January ?

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - I am always happy.}

A frontline of walcott-suarez-sturridge

compared towhat we have now, walcott and sturridge are both cool finishers, would add pace and goals to our attack

cos lets face we need wide forwards who will score more than what sterling and whoever plays on the other side are currently providing

both would be good additions but only at the right price and wage packet

tom1975

11 Dec 2012 20:34:07
eds have we finalized a deal for sturridge

thanks keato8 {Ed002's Note - No.}

Standing at football matches! How has this started again! Are they absolute imbeciles!!!
FowlerisGod

I quite like the idea, if they were to section off, maybe a 1000 person area that those people chose to stand in, and was well stewarded, i cant see the problem.
when we go away we stand most of the time anyway...

phooey...
p.s I havnt forgoten the fallen. Jft96

The Premier League are ruling against it according to BBC website. I think that we should not have standing areas as I feel that fencing may be put around the pitch due to the amounts of dick heads throwing coins and invading the pitch. I think that we should keep seating and place netting around the pitch to stop missiles.
Scouse_Pride {Ed001's Note - the trouble at City was much easier to control thanks to seating. It creates gaps for stewards or police to move through and pull out troublemakers. Standing should never come back while fans can't be trusted to behave themselves.}

Hillsborough just wasn't a fit stadium, it was using unsafe and outdated safety procedures as well as and arrogant dismissive attitudes from authorities, it was just the same in every other stadium in the 80's.

People were crushed not because of standing, but because the metal fences around the stands prevented people for escaping the crush, the police and the football authorities and have to share the blame.

And with all due respect to 96, what happened at Hillsborough in 89 could have happened just as easily if had of been an all seater stadia too, barriers, police incompetence, lax safety and a general disregard to football fans bordering on hate. If a disaster every happens in an all seater will it mean that you can't sit or stand in a stadium anymore.

Stadiums are safer, safety regulations are enforced and followed and as long as there are no more fences in stadiums I have no problem with a standing in a stadium.

Jed {Ed001's Note - it could not have happened with all seater stadiums, you get a ticket for a specific seat, so people wouldn't be all piling into one place. Ludicrous and clueless comment that was. There is a good reason seating was brought in, it is safer.}

I think its a good idea if it brings back the aptmophere.

True Red7

Whats more important safety or atmosphere? i know which i would pick
huddz red

J96 ,
Saw on sky how they plan to do it. Can change the seats back for games in Europe. Do it a lot in Germany.
In saying g that can't see lfc going back to.standing Area . But the seat in the kop have so little room. Standingwould be more comfortable.

Born in Liverpool but live in Australia now and go to watch the new West Sydney team play. The supporters behind the goal have seats but all choose to stand on them all match. I think it makes a better atmosphere this way.

Every one stands up just go away with our fans and see what happens. {Ed002's Note - The argument is taht they are not standing in a safe or suitable environment - given it is cluttered up with seats.}

Silly silly comment ed, seating is safer? We all on here understand why there is a big question mark over standing, and matter be hold I feel we wont see standing in EPL because of that. But in German football it works fine, no one ever has been hurt there and the new way in which it works is a rather good idea.

I can understand your feeling towards it and Im a liverpool fan but you have to admit standing at a game is so much better the atmoshpher is electric. I would be for standing to be honest look at Dortmunds south stand, 25,000 standing home supports, one of the best supported grounds in Europe and it works fine and SAFE for them, may I ask why it wouldnt work for Us?

Scottybhoy 1888 {Ed001's Note - no I don't see that is relevant, the atmosphere is made by the people there, it is nothing to do with sitting or standing. The reason it works fine in German football (which there are incidents that would challenge that view but in the main it has worked ok) is more because they don't have the idiotic binge drink and fight all night culture the UK has. You just can't trust the fans to behave here, as we saw in the Manchester derby. As for silly, silly comment, you are taking the michael right? Or perhaps you are forgetting the reason we went to all seaters? That was an idiotic comment by you, seating is safer and has proven to be safer, so idiotic comments by ignorant people calling me silly for pointing that out will just be dismissed and laughed at. Try reading Lord Justice Taylor's report, it is quite clear in there, then maybe you won't be making foolish comments. There are numerous reasons why seating is safer, including an increase in each person's space, so reducing the chance of crushing. It creates lanes for stewards, medical staff or police to move though to sort out problems. That is just two simple reasons why it is safer than a big crush. I am disgusted that any Liverpool fan would so disrespect those who died with false and ignorant claims regarding the safety aspect of seating compared to standing. We should all know better.}

Ed I take your point in the culture but please dont patronise me with your BS that I dont understand why seating is safer, But standing isnt unsafe thats what im saying. Im a liverpool fan have been for many a year, and I understand the issues around the subject. So dont talk to me like Im some person, cause I cant be ****ed way that. Im not some troll coming on hear and slagging you, never have.

So Im for standing and if that upsets you that a liverpool fans agrees with standing then I really couldnt care less. FACT standing isnt and i repeat isnt UNSAFE as you so like to put it. Patronising person!!

Scottybhoy 1888 {Ed001's Note - so you come on here telling me I am putting up silly comments which have come from repeated safety studies over years, yet it is patronising of me to mention that you are ignorant and talking about something you clearly have no idea about? Grow up and try educating yourself before trying to argue a point, then you can have a conversation about it without looking ridiculous. You were wrong, you still are wrong and you are not ever going to be right by keep shouting about it. Stop being so damn ignorant and go and read some safety studies, even the ones that the Germans used to decide to revive standing all said it was not as safe as seating. I am sure you have never bothered to take the time to read them, far easier to come trolling on here arguing a point that you don't even understand! If you find it patronising, it is purely because you don't have the knowledge to understand the point I was making, or the intelligence to do your own research to rebuff it.
Funny you don't care, because I don't care about some ignorant person coming on here trying to tell me I am wrong when they are talking from their backside. You are also lying about what I said, I never said standing was UNSAFE, or even unsafe because I am not so childish as to shout certain words due to ignorance of the point so feel shouting it louder might make me seem more correct, I simply said standing was less safe, or would you prefer LESS SAFE? You simply don't understand any of the issues, and it is statements like that which are patronising.}

Sorry ed 1 but you are out of order here. There are good reasons why some standing areas might be an improvement but if you think any liverpool fan has forgotten what happened to the 96 then you are out of order and just over reacting. The atmosphere at Anfield is pants these days. The crowd support the boys better at away matches. There is a connection. If SAFE standing areas were allowed it would do wonders for EVERYONE'S enjoyment of the game. Your attitude is like that of certain religious sects; you can't say that or ill cut your head off (or at least rant hysterically at you). Get a grip!
The Eds on here are brilliant. Don't ruin that with these rants.
ND {Ed001's Note - oh give it a rest, there is no connection, the away fans are in seated areas as well. Your comments are nonsensical and based on ridiculous notions. It is the make up of the crowd that decides the atmosphere. I took my daughter to see WWE last month, I am not a fan of wrestling at all, but it was in an all seater venue and the atmosphere, to be fair, was incredible. I didn't see them struggling to create an atmosphere because they were seated, so why should football fans? I am hardly ranting hysterically either, I am just pointing out that there is no truth to the nonsense spouted about standing areas now being safe. They can be made safer than they were, but not as safe as seated areas. As for the rest, it is not up to you to decide what is out of order or not, who do you think you are? Mary Whitehouse? It is pathetic that someone spouting lies about this has people like you sticking their noses in spouting even more lies and then whining when they are pointed out to be wrong. You don't even have the sense to make a cohesive argument for heaven's sake! You think there is a connection between standing making a better atmosphere because away fans, who are seated, make more noise! What the hell kind of nonsensical conclusion is that? Why don't you go and ask Lord Justice Taylor why he concluded that all seater stadia were required? Better yet, go and read his report, then you might actually understand what I am saying.}

Well said ed01. liverpool supporters should never want standing at matches. that's why we also say to the 96 ynwa.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree then. As for poking noses in, sorry, thought this site was about discussing football, my mistake. And I have read Taylor Report, in fact I must be one of few people with an actual copy. Have you read it?

Ed's is there any truth in the Cavani and Sanchez deals?

If those two arrived at Liverpool, i'd be speechless for the first time ever!

The silly season is here again

Looks like someone on muled wine already then :)

If those two arrive at Liverpool; it's because they are playing in a team against Liverpool!

on sky text letters page 459 . that gob shi-e downing quoted to say he is disappointed how bad this season has gone for him , the quotes are from the SUN in brackets at end of the sentence . the sooner the rasta's gone the better.

alan waddle {Ed002's Note -

He's allowed to give an honest assessment of what he thinks.

He'd like to play more, i understand a pro footballer wanting to play, especially at 28 years of age.

No harm in airing off a bit of steam, the manager played him against West Ham, Enrique looks a doubt for a while, so Downing has his chance to impress or depress.

It's healthy.

Why take it out on his religion, Alan? If he wants to wear red gold and green and follow Bob Marley, it's up to him.

He may have said it to the media and got taken up that that paper . Done think he's that stupid to do an interview with that paper.

Hi Eds, not a rumour, just a rant, why are we chasing bench warmers like sturridge as our potential first choice striker? I personally think he is rubbish, there are a hell of a lot of strikers out there that are more potant than him! In the media its reported that were willing to give 15 million to chelsea for him he isn't worth that at all, what I've seen of him he is very ball greedy and cocky, and was dire in the olyimpics, haven't we learnt from borini that a few good games/goals don't automaticlly mean there the next best thing? I all for the youngsters coming through but I feel that for liverpool in the second half of the season its vital we get a proven out and out goal scorer with pedigree to put away all these missed chances and shoot us up the table, the owners must know this and rodgers and daniel sturridge isn't the answer.

Gaz

It's a pity your not Liverpool manager gaz you seem to have all the answers, sack BR and get gaz in ASAP... Muppet!

Would sooner have torres back anyday

Actually, whoever responded to Gaz is the Muppet...BIG TIME TOOL!

If you have issues with what Gaz stated, point it out and offer an educated counterpoint.

Merely getting on here to name call serves no productive purpose.

Why should we trust Liverpool management to get it right following the debacles that have been Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Cole, et al. If the rumours are in fact true and we wind up with the likes of Walcott and Sturridge...well...apparently management has not learned from their past sins. More overhyped, overpriced underperforming players wearing a red shirt...shameful.

I think LFC fans have every right to be skeptical.

For the record, I agree fully with the comments posted from the Gaz Man!
Sturridge just isn't good enough and I hope the rumours are just that...rumours.

What has the Carroll downing Henderson and cole signings got to do with Rodgers? Your suppose to support the team, I bet your one of those persons that pray for us to lose just so you can run to your computer to slate the team/manager at every opportunity, make some sense next time

ED002 and Chris in Tamworth

I do hope the January transfer window brings utterly cryptic and undecipherable banter between you two involving obscure fish and even more obscure South American talents. Something to look forward to in between the whines and moans.

ProfG

p.s. Chris in T. how did the September business propositions go?

ProfG I'll try and think up something cryptic over the next couple of days although I can't be sure Ed002 will want to join in as he seems to get abused for everything he does. As for my business deal it went incredibly well however I got a lot of abuse for mentioning it which is why I haven't and won't but thanks for asking

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I am on the road Chris - back later in the week. See how things go. Pleased about the deal. Who would think tower blocks need a chimney sweep.}

Hi Ed got one more question whats the situation with Assaidi how BR not playing him. He could play more and Raheem a rest what do you think ? {Ed002's Note - I'll give him a run out at Christmas.}

11 Dec 2012 18:36:33
In 552 games at club level during his career, Villa has scored 274 goals, just a fraction below the much-vaunted 1 in 2 ratio. He fits in with the team's style of play superbly and his versatility and ability to drift in and off the flanks could see him dovetail with Suarez to excellent effect. He has a point to prove and while his wages of roughly £5.7 million a year at Barcelona, which equates to roughly £110,000-a-week, while obviously steep, are not out of the realms of possibility given that the club agreed to pay a similar amount to secure Nuri Sahin's loan deal from Real Madrid in the summer.

With rumours of a move for Neymar refusing to die down, plus the emergence of Gerard Deulofeu and return of Alexis Sanchez, the number of rivals for a first-team spot at the Camp Nou will not be getting easier anytime soon. The player reportedly agreed to join Liverpool on loan before his broken leg back in January of 2012, and for the reasons listed above, if a financial package could be agreed, whether it be a loan fee or taking on the full amount, at the very least a high proportion of his wages, Liverpool could do no better in terms of recruiting a new striker in January.

It may be hopeful, but it's not out of the realms of possibility and for all of the reasons listed above, this one should be given the green light be the club's owners, who have been mindful of late about running up costs; there's no denying that Villa is worth both the juice and the squeeze.

11 Dec 2012 18:33:56
What the hell guys! Every other post is about Diame, and how Liverpool should just go out and get him. He has been hyped up over his ability in my opinion. There is that other deficiency of him being injured. So you can all "hope" to get him, but my opinion is that we won't.

This is not much as a rumour for the site but more a question out of curiosity, you see these American owners in LFC, manc etc is there any British owners anywhere in America for their main sports like baseball basketball American football etc.
Sorry for the question, just thought out of curiosity and trying to get a business aspect out of it, due to the influx of foreign ownership in football here, just thought there might be some British ownership over in America?
cheers

FowlerGod. {Ed002's Note - There is none in terms of ownership but there are plenty of sharholders in franchises who are European. Two of the applicants on teh expansion list for MLS franchsies are European clubs - one English. Beckham is looking to get involved in ownership himself.}

Who is the official owner of the brooklyn nets is it jay z or im sure i read some where 1 of the owners is a russain olligarch might be wrong tho

Mikhail Prokhorov is the majority owner of the Nets with Jay-Z having shares.

an american red

With this boom in the MLS league it could be plausible for a punt in shares. You could only really see is a rise of American players coming to surface e.g. more people like Dempsey.
Unfortunately i don't have the spare cash to do so but some good interesting prospects.
Cheers

Eds fellow reds , if i could choose three players to come in jan that are affordable I would take Honda, Hunterler and sturridge £25 million would buy them .

The first two would be excellent.

Huntellar Honda and Walcott now that would be a very successful transfer window!

Honda would be a successful transfer window

We would be cruising if we got honda.

So Tom Ince scores some goals for Blackpool in the championship and suddenly he's a world beater? He will bring trouble and I don't want to see us waste more money on average English players!

11 Dec 2012 19:00:47
Mate coz of manager we are looking at english players if you look back then you will know the answer why

Ferguson nationality scotish made manchester united spine with british players

Wenger nationality france made Arsenal spine with france players

Benitez nationality spain made liverpool spine with spain players

Dalglish nationality Scotish made liverpool spine with british players when he was successfull and 2nd time when he was unsuccessful

Rodgers nationality Nother ireland will make Liverpool fc spine with british players we like it or not that's why I'm not surprised when we have interest on walcott or sturridge etc etc.

Judging all English/British players to be rubbish isn't truthful. It's a gross generalisation bordering on either self loathing or blatant flipping racism towards British people. What you are actually insinuating is that Britain couldn't possibly produce a quality footballer, that's a lie, that's sadly even British people have bought into.

Look at are own English/British players over the years: From Dalglish, Rush, Beardo, Souness, Billy Liddell, Keegan, Hughes, Smith, Clemence, Roger Hunt, Callaghan, Whelan, Heighway, Kennedy, Kennedy, Toshack, Fairclough, Aldo, Ian St John, Phil Thompson, Mcmanaman, Mcmahon, Neal, Hansen, Wright, this list runs on and on.... Redknapp, Mcmanaman, Owen, Fowler, Carragher and Gerrard. That's over 30 British players past and some present that serve as the evidence and thus the proof you are not being truthful, that's just from Liverpool Football club, never mind every other English/British player for other teams in this land.

It's this negativity that has been becoming ever more incremental in our club and it's been like this ever since Rafa left and Hodgson was brought in. It's been a thing of the papers since Bobby Robson was England manager. Papers like the Sun Newspaper.

Man City have 33.3% British and Irish players at their club, Man Utd have 54.84 % British and Irish, Liverpool have 50% British and Irish, Tottenham have 44.84% British and Irish, Arsenal have 21.88% British and Irish players, Chelsea have 28.57% British and Irish players. The latter two being the lowest percentage out of all the Premiership clubs. Arsenal haven't won anything in 7 or 8 Seasons, Chelsea won Europe and beat us in the F.A Cup final and have always looked strong, but they have what we don't, a sugar Daddy to buy some of the most expensive and higherst paid players in the World. .

Wigan have only 34.78% British and Irish players, but they have to scrap it out in a relegation battle every season. Foreign players are not always better than British players.

11 Dec 2012 21:04:31
Mate british players have never been good in modern footy just look at british national teams and you will get your answer at the sametime they are expensive and overrated. Dalglish tried the same trick which he won so many titles with liverpool but failed in modern footy coz there are very very few british players who are really good. Even if you look at united Fergie has reduced buying british players and ashley young is another example who has failed to repeat his aston villa form for united.

Players should be looked from

Spain

South america

Germany even

France are better then overrated english players

Most countries have their share of top performers - why be specific in where to buy from? You could create a hell of a team if you chose the best players from Belgium, Columbia & Ivory Coast. No one country has the monopoly on talent.

Have lfc forgot that they have a keeper called doni.

Eds any chance that when donis name gets mentioned u just don't post it? I see it 2-3 times a day

Liverpool do not have a keeper called Doni ........ how can you have a keeper that is more than 3,000 miles away !

Maybe doni has forgot he is at a club called liverpool

Think about it guys. Why is everybody being so coy as to his whereabouts? My guess is when the truth comes out,it'll be something pretty devastating.
People know why he's gone,and are keeping quiet for a reason. I know its cliche but i hope he isn't walking alone.

hey ed,s what you no of this guy Leo Baptistao - Rayo Vallecano - striker 6.5 mill {Ed001's Note - not much sorry, heard of him, but that's all.}

11 Dec 2012 16:43:34
Llorente 294 games 98 goals wiki and he's in his prime andy Carroll 153 games 39 goals, and he's been injured, he's got 4 years on the above {Ed001's Note - yes because that is a fair comparison. Carroll played in the Championship, so remove that year from the reckoning and you will see his goal record isn't that good. Plus you then have to add in the fact that Llorente gets involved in the build up, creating space for others and then gets into the box to be on the end of things. Carroll just doesn't do either. He will be fine under Fat Scam, all he will be expected to do is be big and tall and stand right up top challenging the centre backs. No need to get involved in the build up play, Fat Scam doesn't use build up play.}

At first I was hoping that Carroll would stay in the summer n go on to prove everyone wrong but now he's at west ham I realised he just can't cut it at Liverpool n never will, he's done ok at west ham don't get me wrong but he will never score enough goals, even at a team like west ham where he suits there type of play!

Ack17

I'd say the championship is on par with la liga at times, bar barca and Madrid. It's more physical certainly

Carroll's record is like Heskey's except Carroll played in the Championship..

BthekingB

Heskey scored a lot more goal's than Carroll plus contributed a lot more than getting tangled up with his own leg's!

Yes, bar Barca and Real Madrid La Liga is like the championship. That's exactly why Athletic Bilbao & Atletico Madrid were the two Europa League finalists in a tournament featuring Man Utd & City. Some of you fans give us all a bad name with how ignorant you act, lets just use our brains sometimes.

Bit harsh on Andy! i do not rate him highly but he has been injured for west ham
gareth

Carroll's still a Liverpool player, he might not be for much longer but I still support him. I wish him well when he leaves as well, I don't think our club has treated him all that well to be honest, it's a shame that he doesn't fit in here but he could be lethal somewhere else

why is it every transfer window spurs are always looking at the same players as LFC its abit annoying nw they need to get their own scouting network

I'm really getting sick of it too, it's beyond a joke

They have lazy scouts who sit around and wait to see what players Liverpool have identified; then they swoop in and woo the players with bigger wages. That's the way they do their business. Pathetic!! {Ed002's Note - This is embarrassing if you truly believe it.}

11 Dec 2012 19:42:23

Um maybe its coz Spurs and Liverpool are going after or scouting Good players with potential, are you that clueless that you actually think spurs watches what we do then only goes for that player, we shop in the same market, we want good player what team doesn't, the same players are probably being scouted by a number of other clubs, there is no conspiracy. Leem

How do we know who their scouts look at? Because of the rubbish newspapers print? As far as I'm concerned, all of our reported targets are also targets of Arsenal, City, Chelsea, and Utd. Does this mean our's are lazy and just follow them around?

Good god the lazy spurs scouts post. What persons we have supporting us. That has to be up there as the worst post ever.

I think you'll find the newspapers are the lazy ones - they just swap Liverpool for Spurs and regurgitate the same weekly rumours. Saves having to rewrite articles.

Hello, Ed001 has said that Liverpool along with many other clubs are keeping tabs on Malaga's Isco. Do you think that if the scenario were to occur that he would be let go cheap, then do you think that we would stand a chance? {Ed001's Note - anyone who could match the price would have a chance. It comes down to what he wants, Sahin had a number of choices, but he chose to come to us. It would be a personal decision though, so only he really knows if we would be in the running.}

11 Dec 2012 14:34:08
Afternoon everyone with the january window fast approaching which i believe could make or break our season a few good signings and we will b genuine contenders for 4th a bad window and we could be left frustrated in mid table. Was wondering who if you were the manager you would sign (realistically) my signings would be
St- 1st choice soldado 15mill 2nd huntelaar 8 mill 3rd bony mill

diame 5mill

honda 12 mill

with these i believe we would be in a good position to finish 4th

Honda and Bony would be fantastic.

I don't see why the club would move for Diame after he's just snapped his hamstring so blatantly? (4 months at a severe estimate).

Diame will be back in 4 weeks

Sounds good, and Jeffren on loan to buy, but knowing us we will probably end up getting Sturridge, Walcott and Ince..

Allardyce said 12 weeks. Did look good though, but we've got Lucas who's getting back to his usual great self and a whole host of other capable midfield players. So not really a place for him when all the players are fit, which is starting to happen.

11 Dec 2012 12:45:30
ed 1, what do you think of the club at the moment in terms of the football being played, how the team are performing in games and the level of the signings rodgers has made so far?also would you think rodgers has kept targets that he had at swansea in mind for lpool? {Ed001's Note - the football is improving game by game, the players are settling in to the system and that is showing in our better form. The return of Lucas is crucial, his mental strength is an inspiration to the rest of the team, as well as his ability to cover in front of the defence being crucial (I have to think he would make a great future captain, his attitude is exemplary). It is far too early to judge signings. The targets he had for Swansea, some he kept in mind and got our scouts to check on, such as Clasie (though I believe Allen was chosen instead), others he has moved on from.}

Well said Ed1.
After what he put up with from a lot of fans for a few years "like getting booed when coming on as a sub" he's a credit to the club

Lyndon {Ed001's Note - I would not have blamed him for walking away from the club at any time, but he stuck it out through sheer determination to prove himself. He deserves a lot of praise for that, as well as the major improvements he has made to his game.}

I agree ed, I'm a big proponent for Lucas to be named Captain next season.

Nevada

Thanks for the reply ed, forgot to sign the end of the post. i agree with you about lucas, must admit i was one of those not convinced by him up until around 2 seasons ago were i think he has matured into a fine player, definately could see him as a captain of the futrue, he i think will come out of his shell as a leader once gerrard and carragher move on. seeing him in the being lpool series highlighted to me his personality and the way he is with other players...all seemed to point to his leadership potential.i am of the opinion that we have played well in 90 percent of the games this season maybe ruling out arsenal and west brom games, its good to see us dominate teams for a change even though the end product is still nt at were it shpould be.who do you think rodgers will go for as the striker option, people seem to forget we have borini coming back as an option aswell.
I85 {Ed001's Note - Walcott and Sturridge seem to be his preferred choices.}

Id go with Agger as captain. Lucas as vice captain. I think stevie should hand over the captain's armband at the end of the season.

Hi eds decent discussion above might i add about lucas he was a attacking midfielder when he arrived having to change his positioning sense and deal with tackling a whole lot more, i say fair play to the lad, i for one would like him and suarez to be considered for the armband both winners.

What are you talking about you know sami hyypia was supposed to captain before stevie but sami willingly gave it to him and now after a couple (ok maybe more) but if he scores against man u and plays great at old Trafford when we play people will be calling "we have the old stevie back" fickle fans with short term memory *smh*

So has Sterling signed that new contract? He's 18 and 2 days already.

Hope he wakes up. Good young player and very promising but moving to any of the big clubs will only mean less 1st team football for him.

And if he does move, it may be due to money. It's not like we offer 300 a week while others offer 50000.

Hope he sees the light and stays.

Steven Gerrard is second only to Everton's Leighton Baines in terms of the most key passes and crosses played by a player in the Barclays Premier League so far this season.

According to Opta's statistics, the skipper has hit 43 key passes and fired 121 crosses into areas for his teammates to attack.

Does not surprise me.

Stevie is still the best.

A one off player truly remarkable.

Sour Puss

Not surprising at all . . but the fact he has been off form for some time now, speaks volumes for the man, legend, hero, G.O.A.T.

Each generation of fan will have their favourite, Liddell, Hunt, Ian St John, Kennedy, Souness, The King, Rush(346 goals!), Barnes.....

Injuries may have slowed him down a notch, but - Stevie G is my favourite player of all time...

Zidane, Messi, Ronaldinho, Van Basten all come second best to my captain.

Lee YNWA

Can i clear this stevie of form crap once and for all stevie is and will always be a top player but he aint no spring chicken i reckon another 4 years left in him hes never going to be that box to box midfielder of old for 90 min he will use his energy better in games he might of lost a little of pace not much, but hes gained a few yards with experience for me hes still one of the best in the game.

gee man

Problem for Stevie is that at his age he has gone from being 'one of the very best ever' to 'better than most'. He is still exceptional but will never compare to himself at his peak. But still irreplaceable.

I don think huntelaar wil sign wit us cos he would prefer Arsenal. And Rodgers is not lookin for aged players in attack. But Sturridge is a sure target and i think he'll be gud. Sturridge has denied he has asked for high wages anyway. Also Wilfried Bony wil be another gud transfer which is possible but he is interested in joinin chelsea. And i dono wats gng on wit walcott, but he would be a perfect addition. Rumours wit Eriksen and Holtby died down but can be possible summer targets along wit Hulk. Llorente is not possible as many clubs r targetin him as be prefers CL. Tom Ince is another target who is strongly linked wit us but lets c. And y is Sterling takin too long to sign a contract? I think Rodgers did a mistake by giving him a chance. Else he wil be waitin for us to giv him a new contract thn. Hope v can get two strikers, a winger and am attacking midfielder.

Hulk is never happening which is good.

Wy we dont swap hulk wif carrol, russian clubs love english players.

11 Dec 2012 11:31:33
eds, with BR having spent a fortune on loaning Sahin and then not playing him, do you think FSG will be a bit more reluctant about letting him loan other players? {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt either Rodgers or the owners plan on loaning in players on a regular basis.}

11 Dec 2012 11:16:53
Hi eds, I was wondering and come the summer if we finish forth which is still a possibility with the changes in form of everyone, unrealistic but you never know, do you believe we could then challenge for the big transfers again like when we signed Torres and be challenging for buying players the calibre of Cavani and Lewandowski should they come available ? {Ed001's Note - we signed Suarez without it, is he not the calibre of Cavani and Lewandowski?}

After I posted I thought of Suarez, but I feel it was easier as many were but off him from his World Cup antics and him being from the Dutch league. It's only a query as the Eds constantly say we can't compete for those types of players at the moment so was more once we get forth will we return to looking at players such as those or does Brendan prefer looking at players such as Walcott an Sturridge because he prefers those over other big name strikers {Ed001's Note - he just prefers players that he feels suits his system, it is not about big names or small names.}

Better than either

Do you believe that a player such as Sturridge who has been mentioned does fit into this system though? Having seen him a lot as a player he always strikes me as a greedy selfish player who is not that good at passing a ball, he wouldn't be my first choice and I don't think we should buy a striker for 10-12 million for the sake of having one {Ed001's Note - I don't think he does, the only positive I can see is his pace would force the opposition to drop deeper giving more space for us to play football in.}

What antics? He handled the ball on the line and prevented a goal. He was punished with a red card. It wasn't him who MISSED the penalty. Adam missed a penalty like that last season and everybody in England did what Suarez did - they laughed. Let's face it - it was so bad that you had to laugh. Give the man a break - at least he's not beating up girls in night-clubs and sleeping with friends' and relatives' wives!!
DM2012

Suarez has problems, but he's a good person overall in my opinion. Maybe Sturridge will be good for counter attacks? Seeing as how Sterling & Suarez have wasted quite a few of those.

Question for ed001,

of the strikers available to us, who would your number one choice be? I know you've made your reservations about Huntelaar, Walcott and Sturridge known in the past so I'm curious who you would choose out of all the players available.

Nevada {Ed001's Note - it is the available to us bit that makes it difficult, how can we know for sure who is available to us? Llorente is for sale, he would be excellent. Honda would be a great signing who could play as a striker or in midfield.}

11 Dec 2012 10:41:34
I'm glad BR is consulting the players over transfers. Shankley always did the same with major decisions, Liverpool should always be run as a collective. I know that people have their reservations over sturridge, but if the manager and the players, many of whom will know him well, think he can work well with the team, I'm sorry but we have to support that. Unless of course we want to be like Chelsea?

I seem to remember players were consulted about getting a new manager and the Hodge was brought in - considering how well that worked out I'd take what the players think as useful input, but not a definitive statement of club policy.

11 Dec 2012 18:21:14
I personally don't think players should be asked to give their views on players, but that's just me, I can only assume they asking about his attitude towards other players and temperament, weather he can handle the pressure of playing for lfc, coz we all know what will happen if he doesn't hit the ground running, some supporters will get on his back, if we get him best of luck to the lad if not, I wouldn't loose any sleep. I don't understand why ppl want llorente, he's just an older version of Carroll, ok he better, but given the right training AC can be just as good if not better. Plus he's English and a beast! If you look at the stats the amount of crosses we have put in, we are crying out for someone big in the box. He causes so many problems for the opposition and of course is defiantly a plan b. IMO I'd love to see him come back and win over Rodgers {Ed001's Note - clearly you have never watched Llorente play! Carroll is half the player Llorente is, unfortunately.}

This guy is a joke...lloreante is class...pure class...simple..pls watch the la liga mate...

Andy Carroll's biggest problem is Andy Carroll. If he had the drive or work ethic of a Henderson, Allen, or Gerrard, then he could be immense. Sadly, he does not.

RDL

"Carroll is half the player Llorente is, unfortunately."
Are u insulting Llorente by any chance ed? More like ten times the playerof carrol.
Indian Buzzer

No offence ed but carroll's got years on him, I did say llorente is better! AC nearly won the fa cup for us in the brief time he was on. If llorente is so class as you all keep saying, how come
He hasn't been bought by a bigger club yet? {Ed001's Note - simply because up until now he had never wanted to leave. Plenty of offers have been rejected in the past for not meeting the club's valuation of him. Carroll will never reach his level until he grows up and stops drinking so damn much and puts in more effort on the training pitch.}

Towards the end he did alright, hard to motivate yourself when u get told ur gettin shipped out no matter what u do. Realistically it's discrimination {Ed001's Note - Rodgers made the decision to ship him out, so it was after the end of the season. Discrimination? Don't talk soft. He is the only one to blame for what has happened. If he had towed the line, Rodgers would have given him a chance.}

Just hope it doesn't come back to bite us in the ass in 3-4 years!

11 Dec 2012 19:49:44
I tell you what is problem with Andy Carroll..he is static striker nd very slow...nd his movement is zero nd if your wingers cant get cross he can't create anything..pass nd move passes by him as he doesn't move...llorente is much much better imagine jelavic with better distribution nd finish...if we get 15 mill for Carroll from Newcastle or west ham nd spend that on llorente then we actually made good deal in getting alternative to Torres....

i see on Macca page he says senior players have been asked what they think of sturridge,i really hope we dont sign this lad i dont think he will get us the goals we need,i would rather we sign bent on loan for rest of season than this guy.
rd

Seriously Bent over Sturridge? Bent cannot get in a struggling Villa side. Maybe a couple of years ago but now I'd have Sturridge. Bent also would have to play the lone striker - a role that Suarez is doing really well. Sturridge is quality despite being selfish and will score goal in any of the front three roles.

Personally i wouldnt want either!

I'd take both, Bent is a great finisher, simple as, he could teach Borini, Yesil and Morgan a thing or two. Sturridge for first team, Bent for bench if no one else wants him

In response to Macca on sturridge,

He is a technicaly gifted player with goals in him so he would add to that but he aint ur 20 goals per season man.

I agree with a post on Maccas responses,
7/10m i think good buy 15m bit expensive for someone who will not solve our out and out goalscorer.

We all talk about the player having to fit into our way of playing but in any system u have to have ur no 9 ur goalscorer the rest of the players can do the fancy stuff the leg work uv got to have someone at the end to put the ball into the net( we know that more than anyone )

My shout realisticly is huntelaar to partner suarez, if not possible walcott great potential through middle

What does it matter what we pay for him. Its either hes good enough or not

Scored 11 in 30 appearances when he was 21 years old for chelsea i believe and 8 in 12 for bolton.

GET A GRIP

I don't think we need a prolific 20+ goal a season striker tbh. Suarez is the top class striker we need, what we need now is to add players who will chip in with a healthy clutch of goals to add to what Suarez gets, Sturridge can do that

Hunterlaar, Sturridge and Walcott all want to play through the middle so please explain to me how Brendan would play / setup the team with Suarez and any of the above 3!?

I dont think he will hence Carroll didnt play with Suarez, Brendan likes a front 3 and Suarez will always play central of those 3.

NS

I love the way Sturridge is being written off by so many people....he had a great scoring record when on loan at Bolton and surely just needs regular playing time which we can offer him! I'm sure if there are any attitude problems that BR can iron them out.....I would welcome him to LFC he is a natural goalscorer with PL experience!

CoolhandLFC

11 Dec 2012 15:18:01
If the story is true (and Macca's posts have nearly always proven to have been) then I think it's a sound idea to talk to the squad - football is so close knit that the likes of Gerrard, Johnson and Downing will have a good grip on if Sturridge is a good fit for the group.

The lad has some raw ability, and he's young enough to learn a new philosophy on the game (if he has the right mentality to want to do so).

I like this consultative approach from BR, appears players are being selected by a large criteria set. Good stats, good ability and a fit for the team - that's how Fergie has built an empire.

Someone says does it matter what we pay yes my friend it does we cant afford to sign anymore duds untill the books are well balanced we just cant afford to loose anymore money

gee man

How can a misfit like Downing offer a valid view as to whether Sturridge would be a good fit for Liverpool?

11 Dec 2012 10:23:19
Here's my though on why Sturridge is/has been so greedy with the ball at Chelsea and I think it's a pretty simple theory, he was trying to get the goals and impress to stay in the managers plans and not be dropped from the team,I think if he comes to liverpool with BR guidance and knowing he will get first team chances,he could be an excellent signing!

By Christmas we will probably be around 7th place, as Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, and West Brom's next 3 games are definitely winnable, and the fact that we have Stoke away definitely doesn't help us as they are unbeaten at the Brittania..

Unbeaten till they play us.

11 Dec 2012 14:10:00
Love the optimism Tristan.
WelshBoyDave

Everton play Stoke in the next round of fixtures, Spurs play Swansea who have been pretty good, West Brom play West Ham who put up quite a fight, Then West Brom play Norwich who have been on quite the run, Everton play West Ham, Spurs play Stoke, then finally Arsenal play West Ham. We all have difficult games, we should take them one at a time rather than being overly optimistic. Every team is capable of putting up a fight. And they all like to bring it when playing us.

11 Dec 2012 10:10:45
I've been working away for about 6 months now and miss big spells of TV etc, could someone explain what the score is with the names in envelopes thing?

Rodgers supposedly had a team talk whereby he showed the players three envelopes and said that three players' names would be in these by the end of the season or something, so that they didn't let him down. Obviously there will be nothing in the envelopes, just a motivational ploy.

Or downings name in all three of them. Liverbird

I am so glad for BR...finally the result we deserved and was elusive...Now if we add below mentioned deserving points to it probably BR had already been a Legend in eyes of slaters and moaners..

1) Vs Man City--- 2 Points
2) Vs Man Utd----1 Point
3) Vs Sunderland-- 2 Points
4) Vs Spurs--- 1 Point
5) Vs Everton-- 2 Points

That's 8 points which clearly we were robbed due to poor referring and sheer bad luck...need I say more where we would had been in table!...I have posted earlier as well about key differences between BR and other managers we had in last decade or so irrespective of achievements and records:-

1) BR makes right subs and importantly at right time..be it at half time like everton game or around 60 min mark

2) Not afraid to change formations in middle of game...holds his hand high and admits he got it wrong.

3) Bred in youngsters and given them regular first team football. For ages we kept on hearing potential superstars but they always faded or moved away. Now we can see some of them given a chance.

4) Unorthodox thinking like Enrique on LW..he got a shot of confidence and seems to have improved due to it.

5) He may seem arrogant about his phlisophy of football but isnt that what people love about " the special one". He is our Special One.

Above all, he's got a winning mentality. He doesnt shuts shop when we are winning. Why change when we are winning? Does any of so called big teams do it? It brings confidence,attitude and flair in players so it is welcomed.

Bravo Brendan Rogers!..

Hi Eds

I have seen people talking about D.Sturridge with regards to his attitude and being cocky and over confident...i see that as a good thing in a forward as long as he can put the ball in the back of the net.

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed001's Note - not if it means he causes issues amongst the squad with that attitude.}

I'm not sure why it should be assumed Sturridge would cause trouble??

What has he done to warrant being labelled a trouble maker?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Cheers

Kez

I agree with Kez. There is no evidence anywhere to say his attitude is bad. {Ed001's Note - you mean other than his demands at City that saw to them refusing to meet his wage expectations? Or the fact that he is constantly whining about not playing where he wants to play?}

Hmmm sounds like Walcott too, Ed?

cozinoz {Ed001's Note - to a point I agree, it is a very similar situation.}

If that's all I see no risk involved. All players and their agents will try to negotiate the best deals for themselves.

Sounds like Bellamy was more capable of being disruptive to the squad than Sturridge and we all wish Bellamy had stayed on another season.

The kid has skill, deft feet and a goal in him, I personally think we could do a lot worse should he sign.

Cheers

Kez

I never knew 15m was d price of Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Zlatan, etc. I really think we need to realise that the prices of players have gone up over the years because of owners like Abrahamovic, the Sheikhs, and other 'football sugar daddies'. If we think because Liverpool are no more among the financial elite clubs then 15m is the guaranteed price tag for a potential world player of d year, then we are so WRONG! Yes 15m is quite a huge sum but I don't remember Mata, Silva, Toure, Robben, Aguero, Fabregas, Benzema, V.persie, Pastore, Hazard, Oscar, Lavezzi, Modric, Alonso, Dzeko, Villa, Zlatan, Sanchez, T.Silva,Torres(when we bought him), or even Suarez costing 15m. But I can remember Mikel, Carrick, Young, Meireles, A.Johnson, Anderson, Ox, Nani, Elia, S.Fletcher, Jarvis, costing 15m( or - 3m). Dn't even get me started with Milner and Jones(20m ). Yes u may say Cazorla, but he was 15m bcos of Malaga's fin.crisis. All am trying to say is that some of us are expecting too much from Allen just bcos we paid 15m for him. The kid is doing good. Support him and give him time to grow into a more mature and hopefully a world class player......... Remember Lucas!

Niger Red!
Djoe.

Its not anout the price..
all of the people you mentioned above 15 mil are of quality..infact most..
allen hasnt shown any glimpse...
he can have an excuse of being played out of position...
lets see what he bring in remining games?

A players price or value is very subjective. It all comes down to what the buyer is willing to pay,and how much the seller is willing to get.
Player prices shouldn't really be an issue unless you include wages,as it shows a far more accurate standpoint.
Torres cost £50 million,and his wages are reportedly over 4 million per year,over the five year deal,that would bring us to the 70 million mark(excluding agents fees and bonuses).
Top players can demand these figures,and will thanks to the sugar daddies of the world.
Creating a squad without these prices is hard work,and not made easier by the fans demanding expensive or 'marquee' signings.
Footballers in short,are no more than well paid mercenaries.

On the bright side Ed you going to get a bit of a break from transfer talk this morning.
Unfortunately the Suarez Evra thing is about to rear his it's head again.

Liverpool interested in Alexis Sanchez, with Brendan Rodgers apparently sending several scouts to Barcelona to see him in action. Wow the Daily Express has to be the worst most unreliable newspaper ever.

Sending scouts?
sanchez is well knows to be class player.
maybe he send the scouts to have a close look if messi is really that good haha

Can i ask you Eds about your opinion on a couple of players?

Firstly what your opinion is on Sturridge for LFC. Personally i do think he would need to be trained in the art of passing and looking up, but i also think if he was well managed he would be very good for us, but maybe on the wing more (which he may not like)

2nd: Just wondered if i missed something on Sahin as many people are suggesting he has his chance and wasted it and is not good enough for LFC. Again i personally think he is very good but would need more time to adopt to english game.

Thanks
Gareth {Ed001's Note - I think Sturridge has the wrong attitude, I would prefer us to look elsewhere. I think most people are too fickle and make up their mind far too quick. Sahin needs time and he is not being given it, but a couple of good games and those people will all be saying how great he is.}

A quick question Ed, we keep reading about the attitude with Sturridge, and I'm not sure about the timelines, but have Rodgers and the backroom staff ( man city ) not worked with him before?
I would like to think they are aware of any issues, and with everything based on the team, and working for each other with BR it would seem a strange decision to bring in a player that is likely to disrupt that? {Ed001's Note - unless he feels that the issues are purely down to him not playing and intends to play him regularly?}

I dont see why all the furore over Sahin, he was out for a year and hardly played any competetive football when he came back before coming to us. I watched him a lot for dortmund and its clear he is a world class player, like ed said he needs some time. I think playing centrally right in the middle of the park is where he is most effective.

hi edds do you know why we never scout south american players? {Ed001's Note - we do scout South American players, we have a number of scouts out there now. It is simply a difficult signing process, due to the work permit situation.}

Remind me where Coates, Luas, Suarez, maxi are from?

But I Agree if its poss to get more talented south americans then great but work permits doesnt make that easy

Shak Attack

Lucas Leiva, Mark Gonzalez, Javier Mascherano, Emiliano Insua, Gabriel Paletta, Sebastian Coates, Maxi Rodriguez, Mauricio Pellegrino, Gerardo Bruna, Fabio Aurelio, Sebastian Leto, Doni, Diego Cavalieri

Gabriel Paletta, Sebastian Leto and Emiliano Insua. Not always a route to riches the old South American market.

PieInTheSkyMan

We bought them from European clubs, making the process much easier.

Central America Shak!

Ahhhhh Paletta the Drill wahtever went wrong?

So this may be a stupid question, but if it's exceedingly difficult to sign players directly from South American clubs, then why waste valuable money scouting there? Could that not be better served by having more scouts in EU countries? {Ed001's Note - because there are ways round it, such as buying them and loaning them out to teams in countries with less strict work permit requirements.}

Hi eds and reds, just thought i would pop up and summarise a list of targets that i believe we may have an interest in. I think that sturridge is the most likely target, with jeffren being a borderline (imo). It would not surprise me if we were looking at options for a left back, as enrique and downing are much more useful going forwards than they are at going back. I am also of the opinion that both robinson and flanagan both lack the quality in this position that the manager deems necessary at such a high level. therefore, a LB would not come as a huge surprise.

Robinson lacks quality? Have you seen him play? The lads got a massive future at this club IMO

Pascoe has already said they don't want to play too many youngsters at once as it can have the oppersite effect, you gotta keep the youngsters hungry to keep improving + if we have any chance of sellin downing in order to re-invest then we have to play him

IMO i think Walcott is more likely as it makes the most sense, but i agree sturridge is being talked about more right now but i actually think he's a fall on option to walcott, 90% of people think walcott is the better player, im sure BR and his scouts do to

Im not sure that jeffren has any legs to be honest but we'll see

Shak Attack

I'm pretty sure that Jeffren does have legs, doesn't say much for our scouting department if he doesn't
