A great performance by the boys tonight.

When i came on here on Sunday. I couldn't believe the many posts that were ridiculing Kenny. Even some posts were questioning his knowledge of fooball "tatics" Now iv'e scrolled down and havn't read any posts saying "Kenny isn't good enough" "Kenny should not be the man to bring us forward" after tonights deserved win.

Please stop this crap! Kenny knows more about football, than we ever could. What is getting on my tits is that the criticsm Kenny gets after we get a defeat, is pathetic.

Not one of you have citicised Kenny tonight (and rightly so) But some of you are criticisng Kenny after a defeat. Then you applaud him after a victory (you know who you are).

When you criticise Kenny after a defeat, then applaud him after a win. Then you could at least have the balls to sign your posts.

If you look at it like this if the season started in jan we'd be bout 3rd or summit but sum games that has cost us
Liverpool 0-1 wolves
Liverpool 1-2 Blackpool
Blackpool 2-1 Liverpool
West ham 3-1 Liverpool
Blackburn beats us can't remember the score
Liverpool 1-1 wigan
Everton 2-0 Liverpool
Newcastle 3-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 2-2 Sunderland
West brom 2-1 Liverpool
We deserve an extra 11 points then what we've got and had a lot of bad luck

Perfect team selection tonight and it has to be kept for the arsenal game. Pleasant surprise to see aurelio back, we've missed his left peg. Is anyone else wondering where we'd be if we'd started the season with dalglish?

Wot a night at anfield , just like to say a big thank you to the man-city fans for ther applause when the soldier from Kirkby an David faircloughs wifes deaths wer mentioned before the game plus ther impeccable minutes silence for the 96 .
On another note it was hard to pick a man of the match tonight because the whole team wer great but ID like to give my man of the match to young John flannagan simply for his outstanding performance in such a big game ( talk about taking the bull by the horns ) an a typical forwards shift put in by the 1 and only andy Carroll ( told all u haters he wasn't just a big lump ) . . . . . . No it does not, but if we buy some quality we could challenge for the top four again. It is only one result, but Carroll and Suarez are going to be a real threat next season. Ross

Top 4? I think you're setting your sights a bit low. We've thrashed Man U, Man City and Chelsea this season and you can already sense Arsenal and the Spuds retreating in fear - if we can get 1-2 flair players to unlock mid-table defences along with the rest in the summer then I see us challenging for the title at the very least next season.

It all seems to be falling into place. The youth players are all maturing into squad players in time for 11/ 12 and there seems to be a desire and hunger about the team that has been absent for about 2 years. But, knowing myself and my tendency to get carried away, we'll lose the upcoming Arsenal game.

I'd also like to congratulate young John Flanagan. Really solid performance - great passing, brilliant tackling and great vision for a defender. I also liked his nutmeg on one of City's fools.

The problem is going to be that I think we are going to bring in 4 or 5 players, and it is going to take some time for them to settle into the team, plus the other teams are also going to be spending this summer as well, But I agree that we have some great youth players coming through and with Kenny in charge we will be a very different side next season and hope that we will be more consistent as well. Wow, what a difference a week can make! If only Aurelio could stay fit, he bottled the left side fantastically and carried the ball brilliantly out of defence. Worked well with Raul! Thought Flanno had a very impressive debut, should calmness that we require in defence! Lucas and Spiering were outstanding and pressed the manC midfield continually. Can't fault any of the guys on the pitch tonight, massive attitude change from WBA! This is the kind of performance we need to start coming up with on a regular basis. Dirk, AC and Saurez; much to look forward to from these 3! Well played tonight to all 11. Great to win the midfield battle again, it's been a while since we were so domminant in this area of the pitch! RSA RED

Just been the game tonight and flanagan was amazing, the best thing was all the players were rallying around him, kenny clapped him when he did a good turn, excellent man management by the king but the main point is with flanagan and Kelly for right back, push Johnson into a right winger and spend the money saved on another world class striker. . .

Is like peoples thoughts on this ?

I agree with you trillionaire , the only thing is would Johnson be happy on the wing.
With playing there it could ruin his place in the England team.

To comment on this:

Great game john flannagan. I wouldve loved to see morgan come on for carrol in the end. David ngog is just not lfc quality at all. I feel a bit let down every time i see him on the pitch.
Red bl00ded!

No offense Redbl00ded but surely Morgan would've needed to be on the bench? There is a reason why KK doesn't want to blood 6 youngsters in a game, let them decide on who and when to bring players through. Flanagan had a great game but had little defensive work to do; not his fault but other teams won't let us get away with that - hence some of our results. He looks v promising though.

Hoola

And pls don't forget NGog is in his early twenties. . . .With a season or two more, he will eventually become a good striker if not great striker. . . .

People said the same about Lucas but he is proving everyone wrong now. . . .

If you do some research on NGog, you will come to know that he is a tough lad and will eventually come good. . .

Both Benitez and Kenny are great managers for forwards. . .just look at what they have done with

Benitez -> Torres, Eto
Kenny -> Shearer, Carroll, Suarez

I am sure NGog will improve with guidance and care . . plus he is young. .

We are fast turning into an enigma. You don't want to see negatives posts after tonight's game, the same you don't want to see a big over reaction.

We are certainly blowing hot and cold with no inbetween. Tonight was a superb, team collective effort. Work rate from everyone was absolutely excellent. It was a pleasure to see Liverpool players running around like their lives depended on it.

This is what we have missed over the last 2/ 3 years. Carroll and Suarez working their bloody socks off up front, no ego's getting in the way, no spanish sulks, just prepared to give blood, sweat and tears for the cause.

As for Lucas, Kuyt and Spearing they were men of the match for me. Carroll and others will rightfully get all the plaudits but these three showed effort and commitment i have not seen for many a month.

The difference with Kuyt and Spearing, the quality was there as well tonight and that is the ideal bag.

You can virtually forget the back five (don't mean that disrespectfully), they had a very comfortable evening and just did their jobs with concentration and professionalism.

You compare Meireles out left tonight to the Meireles that played at Goodison Park, absolute different animal.

I am usually a half empty kind of sad, grumpy old git so i won't waste breath on what might have been, but perhaps look forward to the next game and hope we can actually string two decent performances together, something we have not done for a long, long time.

Finally a quick word on Flanagan. The crowd gave him plenty of encouragement all night and did their part. I have started to become a little worried about the 'new' generation of fans that go the games now, not supporting the players or giving them a decent chance (Lucas) but instead of heaping pressure on him, they were very, very supportive of him.

He did well, obviously nothing more than the basics, get the ball down and just pass it to red. He has an amazing amount to learn and improve upon but a great start and a great future to look forward to, and hopefully Kenny will give him more games in which to flourish and improve. It was exciting to see a great, local talent given his chance for a change. Rafa admittedly was awful in this regard.

After many, many lows over the last 24 months. I am just going to enjoy tonight's performance, nothing more, nothing less.

Finally Liverpool have come back to the 1980's (in the style of The Rock!)

Are you for real? Yes Carra does look for Carroll abit too often, but that's no reason to drop him! We need him in that defence, especially through the centre. He keeps everyone alert & on their toes, & himself is a quality defender.

Well done to young Flanagan - looked like he'd been playing at that level for years. Well done to Andy Carroll as well. In fact well done to everyone but the real difference between us and City was three people - Kuyt and his tireless running and the creative passing of Miereles and Suarez - my Man Of The Match is a tie between those two.

we don't need JC to pass the ball. trust me, without him tonight that back 4 would have conceded. he will be the key for bringing players like flannagan into this team. he talks his whole way through the game and makes skctel (forgive the spelling) look a decent centre half!

No one complaining carroll's price tag tonight then! Ross

11 Apr 2011 22:38:18
In terms of Carragher's distribution.

In my eyes yes it is poor but it wasn't tonight; Man City allowed him time to pass to other midfielders and defenders however he talked Flanagan and the other defenders through that game.

Where he is a liability is when we have all the ball; saying that we've not been given loads of options so sometimes it's to easy to hit long and hope.

IMO he's not finished yet and can give valuable experience to the likes of Wilson, Ayala and Kelly.

I think we are in for a classic against arsenal this weekend , no one can handle carrol , suerez is a magician he pops up everywhere, spearing was like bulldog patrolling in front the back line , kuyt was all ove the pitch" does he ever stop running" , flanagan i think we have unearthed another gem he looked class, lucas broke up play all game , when gerrard, kelly, agger, johnson get back in to the mix and 3 or 4 world class sighnings in the summer we will be a major threat next season and not forgetting suso, sterling, coady, pachecoe, silva , robinson, amoo, ince all looking to get in the future looks RED

GREAT RESULT TONIGHT ! just shows that you don't need £200million worth of talent like city , scousers like spearing and flanno coming through was brilliant to see they both had a brilliant , dirk kuyt working extra hard as always , carroll with two goals ( any one who doubted him can eat there words now ) he was brilliant tonight.oh and of course luis suarez a constant threat and working hard as ever, and i can't believe it but european football is, still up for grabs 5 points behind spurs but they have gotta play :

Man city ( away )
chelsea ( away )
liverpool ( away )
arsenal ( home )

which no doubt they will lose points , we really need to beat arsenal on sunday to have a chance to stay up there for the 5th spot ,

Absolutely well done! Thank you every single one of our players for the fitting tribute to the 96 Hillsborough victims. They certainly played with this in mind.
I was amazed to see "Manufactured Citeh" go at us from the first second. . They, obviously blinded by their arrogance and over-inflated egos, thought that we were there for the taking. . Well done, LFC for fighting them relentlessly in these opening minutes and eventually beating them into submission. The way we attacked, as a "pack" reminded me of how Chavski used to attack under Mourinho (maybe not the best comparison. .), winning second balls and keeping the pressure at all costs. The team was King today!
John Flanagan was good, precise long passes, confident defending and Carra was great talking him through the match. That's what we need - mix young and experienced for the benefit of the young.
Whoever was not playing through injury - I hope some of them will be scratching heads and wonder how they are going to get into the team.
5 year contract for KK untill Gerrard or Carra ready to take over.
A very happy red here.

I don't want to be a big downer on the game but there's an old saying you can only beat what is front of you.

Flanagan was excellent; reading of the game, tackles, technique, positioning. In some ways I was hoping he would be tested though as u need to know if they've got it (remember Rob Jones v Ryan Giggs?); still brilliant debut.

Lucas and Spearing done very well; the fact that Poulsen doesn't get a look in states what a poor player he is. With more quality in CM next year things will look good (providing Poulsen goes and no one else).

Suarez brings so much to the team and fair play to the King sometimes it was Suarez out wide, lone man up front or wide right. If he gets a contract and some players he will be able to meet the other teams on a tactical front; we just need the quality and determination to beat lower teams.

Tonight I really cannot complain or give a sub below performance to any Liverpool player - the fact our back four were at ease so much says it all.

Well done lads and also remember the players ages on the pitch and on the bench; v impressive.

Hoola

PS - Ed; would you consider buying another CB with Ayala coming back and Kelly able to play there (bearing in mind Johnson and Flanagan can play right back)? {Ed001's Note - personally, no, I would give Ayala a chance to play there next season.}

Fantastic 1st half. Sweet revenge! And this is probably what will hurt most about this season. The fact that we can make the utds, chelskis, arses, s**ttys look completely average one day and then fall apart against the broms, blackpools, wigans on another. Lucas has been fantastic this half, but id like to see this kind of performance from him every game, not just the big games when he looks almost unstoppable in midfield. And oh yeah, great goals from the new #9! And fab finish from kuyt. Not an all round great player dirk kuyt, but ALWAYS a goal threat.

And this is a team without Gerrard, Johnson, Kelly, Agger? Just how good is Kenny Dalglish? Seriously - these players would walk through walls for the man. Fizzy Liverpool passing, loads of angles, two-touch, simple little passes in central mid with Lucas and Spearing then scary crosses from wide. Young players balanced with world class internationals like Mereiles and Suarez. Suarez is more cunning than professor of foxology. Carrol, well - how the hell do you defend against that? He scares the crap out of me and I'm sitting on tbe sofa. Kenny always was, is and always will be from heaven.

{Ed002's Note - I obviously cannot comment on hearsay that your uncle heard in Portugal.

So it is Kenny out then - I am sure he will soon be forgotten. I guess the fans can take this opportunity to force the owners out after they have now been caught lying about the discussions they had opened with Dalglish.}

Young Unbelievable

My two cents.

-GOALKEEPER
First option should be to keep Pepe. He's the sort of quality that a trophy-aspiring team needs. If that fails, get Lloris or Adler.

-DEFENSE
It's been accepted that Kelly should permanently play at right back. I don't agree.
Personally, I would: -offload Skrtel and Soto.
-put Kelly back at centre back.
-buy another centre back (Sakho), and
-buy a right back

Kelly, Agger and Sakho would be first choice. Wilson and Carra would be back-up. I'd restrict Agger to one game a week due to his injuries.
The right back can be a cheap option like Miguel who'll us two or three years before Flano's fully ready.
(Alternatively, two centre backs can be bought and Kelly can continue at right back.)

Lastly, a left back should is obviously a must. Aurelio, Insua and Konchesky should all be released. Leighton Baines as first choice and a cheap option like Kadlec as back-up would be good.

-WINGS
Maxi, Jovanovic, Cole should be jettisoned
Three wingers should be bought. 2 lefties and 1 rightie. Fabio Coentrao for £20m-£25m and Marveaux on a free or Elia/ Dzsudzsak for £12m would be excellent biz. For the right, Ashely Young or Dmitri Payet at £12m-£14m would do the trick. Johnson would cover here if needs be.
So for the left we might spend either £25m (Coentrao & Marveaux ) or £37m (Coentrao & Dzsudzsak/ Elia).
Total on wingers should be under £50m.

-MIDFIELD
A natural defensive mid is a must. M'Vila would be great. An alonso-esque bloke we need. Javi Martinez at £16-£18m would be great, imo. Ten times the player of Adam and younger.
Pouslen, Spearing and Aquilani I'd get rid off.
A midfield of Gerrard, Meireles, Martinez, M'Vila, Lucas and Shelvey as as good as you'll find.
£30m would land both Martinez and M'Vila.

-STRIKERS
Ngog has to be sold. The lad has no future at Anfield, imo. I'd buy another class forward in the form of Hulk or Benzema.
Suarez, Carroll, Hulk and Kuyt would mean a formidable frontline.
Hulk would be available for £20m-£23m.

11 Apr 2011 18:04:18
Why didn't that yonk buy Newcastle instead of Liverpool. You seem to want most of our players. Take them. See how well you do in the championship. Cos they are all championship players

Do you have any idea what the team for tonight will be Ed? {Ed004's Note - Am not sure of the team tonight}

11 Apr 2011 17:50:29
I would rather pay 11 million for Arda Turan rather than signing Sylvian Merveaux on free.

For tonight's game I think we should play 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 with Kuyt and Maxi on the wings.

I also don't think that Spearing will make it against the tough huge three of City Midfield.

I am Phil Thompsons gardener and Phil likes to talk to his plants to help them grow and well one of his pansies let slip that on top of the Enrique deal, that the Adam deal is 100%, the Young deal 100% and also magic grow isn't all that.

11 Apr 2011 17:13:15
I personally think Enrique would be a decent signing.
proven epl experience so won't take ages to settle in.
will come for less than 10m (imo)
decent player.
solves our LB problem.
he might not be the best in the world but he will do, he seems like a safe signing to me. we need someone at LB to come into the side and to start doing the job right away as we have no cover in that position.
we have an attacking right back already so lets just have a proper LB like enrique not someone that will cost 20m + that will bomb up the wing and leave us exposed.
save the big money for a new winger (or 2)

I personally like the look of micheal Roberts playing for the reserves. He can spray the ball around and can put his foot in. I think he could develop into a first team player myself.I think Wisdom and Flanno are deffo going to make the step up before Coady.

Seen a bit of Roberts but not enough to make a proper informed decision on . . Flanno definitely looks the most likely but I would think Coady after him. . more don to the position he plays as much as anything. whilst young I would consider loaning Wisdom for part of next year. . he is so strong and physically developed the Championship could be an excellent learning ground for him with a view to him returning at the end of the year to challenge in the 1st team squad. However, contradicting myself, Jones at Blackburn has been in and around their team all season and is not much older. . but less pressure. .

To Chris in Tamworth: Who replied to me
So you don't think we will be looking at Asian players then?
Oh and you also think that there aren't any Asian players good enough or that if there are they won't come to us?
Obviously FSG and DC need to speak to you immediately so that you can put them right before they make some horrible mistake! !
- - - - - - - - -
I did not say we werent looking at Asian players, what I did say was none of them are good enough, and we don't want them if they are crap. How many asian players play for the top top clubs.? Few if none. Feel free to correct me with examples if you can.
If you think FSG and DC know a good football player as opposed to a good financial asset then you are clearly smoking the wrong kind of stuff. Get real. fans want quality players not marketing cash cows. I understand the need to generate cash, but not at the expense of winning something. You should support Arsenal if that's what you want.(Maybe you do)
RED FIRST & LAST
- - - - - - - - - - - -
There really is no need to question my loyalty and at no point did I say that we should buy an Asian player just for commercial purposes however I feel that there may be a couple of players out there that COULD be good enough and it would make good business sense to run the rule over them. You may not feel any of them are good enough so I expect you will criticise the manager if we buy one (Honda?). No I'm sure you wouldn't criticise a Liverpool player or manager (but maybe you do)

Ed, Your thoughts please
If Arsenal interested in Pepe should we ask for Walcott, Clichy and £5m in exchange.

Beggers {Ed002's Note - Exchanges are pretty rare and there is no way that Arsenal would agree to such a deal. Why not just take the money and decide who is best to buy.}

11 Apr 2011 16:15:21
Ed001's Note - I don't think any of those 3 you mentioned will make it at Liverpool, all are almost certain to have professional careers, but I don't feel they will make it at Liverpool.

Thanks for your opinion Ed001 time will tell how they develop. . on more of a general question have you seen much of the under 16's? I've heard good reports, although very young at this stage is there anyone to watch out for in the senior academy side next season? Any good central midfielders coming through in particular? At that level with the exception of Coady there seems to be a a lack of centre mids. . perhaps that's why we loaned Conor Thomas.

11 Apr 2011 16:06:48
There is absolutely no way we would pay 15 million for a player with 1 yr left on his contract. I am not saying Enrique is not going to sign for us personally I would rather sign him than a player who has no prem league experience. The price will be a little more than newcastle payed fror the player.They will make a profit on him but not a massive profit.

"First of all i know that jose enrique is a good crosser of the ball but can anyone tell me more things about him.and why is everybody so sure about the ashley young deal?"

Having watched Enrique a few times I've come to a conclusion that the lad's best asset is his suitability to english game: he's strong, fast and with great stamina. As far as his crossing is concerned I think it's vastly overrated. As his concentration levels and decision making. . More or less good going forward but not someone I'd call a solid defender.

Know nothing of A. Young's situation but instead of spending big on Mr. Young I'd rather scout lower leagues for the next Mr. Young.

Having said that, I'm not a football expert. If KK decides to sign these two, I'll go with his decision as HE knows best.

I got really excited a week or so ago when Comolli said that "top players" would be coming to Liverpool this Summer. Now that I realise his understanding of a "top player" as Enrique that excitement has disappeared quite swiftly. He's a decent player, not a "top player."
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Why are people saying they are disappointed at enrique signing, Last week we were going to buy Oscar wendt and now it is enrique and I am sure next week it will be someone different. Nothing is going to be sorted out until next month so lots can change in that time. Ross
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
While I agree that Enrique isn't the the marque signing that some people had been looking for I feel that he's quiet a good option. Oscar Wendt plays scandanavian football which is poor, Izaguire (spelling) plays scottish football, carp as well. Taiwo from Marseille will be staying in southern europe so who else is there?

He is used to the EPL, can defend and get forward so I think he would be a good addition to the squad. Forget the £15 mill quoted as he only has approx 18mths left on his contract. It should be more like £5-£8Mill

Ve heard gala are asking just 11 mill for Arda. i no hes in talks with Athletico Madrid but do you think Liverpool can high jack this bid to sign him ed? {Ed002's Note - My assumption is that he is not interested or Liverpool are not interested as he will likely be moving to Atletico Madrid or Valencia.}

But why would arda go to spain when his fav club is LFC? we showed interest last season, i thought kenny liked the player?

{Ed001's Note - Coady, Suso and Sterling, possibly Wisdom, Flanagan, Morgan and Robinson as well. The rest I don't think will make it at Liverpool. That is off the top of my head mind, so I might have missed one or two but I doubt it, we would be doing well to get 2 players through really.}

ed001, with regards to our youth players coming through what do you think of Silva, Ngoo and Andoran? I have been particularily impressed with Andoran, his movement and vision is excellent, if he can continue to develop like he has he could be an excellent player (whether at lfc or elsewhere). Silva for me has natural talent but he's very raw, and Ngoo before his injury would have been a certainty to your list. Also, an honurable mention to Brad Smith who is improving greatly, whether he becomes a 1st team player at LFC or not. .

I agree 2 players would be graet to come through as it has been so disappointing watching no/ sub-standard players come through but occasionally you get blessed with a batch at the same time a la Scholes/ Giggs/ etc etc
so fingers crossed

Ben Richards {Ed001's Note - I don't think any of those 3 you mentioned will make it at Liverpool, all are almost certain to have professional careers, but I don't feel they will make it at Liverpool.}

Didn't they say something about £15million in that Thompson piece on Norwegian telly? If that's true I really can't believe we've given Newcastle £50million for Carroll and Baines. In pure monetary terms, roughly that same amount of cash could have purchased Aguero and Baines.

It just seems like bad money management.

That being said, if Enrique does become a Liverpool player then I hope he has a successful career with us. I suppose Steve Finnan was never exciting. .but he was solid as a rock. Maybe Enrique might be the same sort of full back.

The kids have had more chance in the past four months than they've had since before Benitez, I don't think you can criticise Kenny for that. It's just unfortunate that Jonjo was injured when he was, because he would have been another that was on the verge of getting in the first team. Good times I think for a youngsters - Kenny's a brit (was also a genius) and knows that given the chance we can compete with anythin accross the channel.

Kuyt Lucas Spearing Meireles

Carroll Suarez

I fear that meireles again playing out of position on the left with the inexperience of wilson will be bad news for us tonight. The bench although i can't confirm at this stage will include some youngsters, expecting Robinson and Flannagan on the bench.

Congratulations, you have won the prize for the most idiotic post I have ever read on this site. Carrol is not even fully fit yet and it's as if you're writing him off - after three games. I.D.I.O.T.

(I believe that Carrol was on the list of most of the top English sides for the summer but we were able to get in early because of the Torres money - who by the way, is still a top, top player, who unfortunately was playing for us at the wrong time. Just because a tabloid writes something doesn't mean you have to believe it. He'll regret signing for Chelsea though.)

Good morning, good afternoon everyone:

Regarding Pepe Reina's situation
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Due to the increased speculations surrounding Reina
LFC offered Reina a new contract with a high-pay rise ( making him the second best paid player at LFC after Steivie), but Reina asked the club to delay it until the end of the season. As a result the club has started preparing for his departure, but Pepe Reina still remaining with us for next season won't be rule out.
Arsenal is the most likeliest destination for him ( Cash + Theo Walcott ) but I expect Inter, Atletico & even the More hated Man Utd to come after him.

Jose Enrique haven't really agreed to join us, but Newcastle has agreed a fee with us for him, It is not 15 M as mentioned in the press. The fee is around 8-10M

LFC are very much interested in signing Aaron Lennon from Spurs. Joe Cole + cash for Lennon
IF Spurs fail to qualify for Champions League we have a very good chance of getting Lennon.

Liverpool's interest in over rated Charlie Adam also seems to be fading after Kenny & Commoli started looking at alternatives for him.

FC Twente's Luke Dejong is also being tracked buy LFC.
LFC might see him as the bright young Striker they are searching for.

I expect LFC scouts to be at Shaktar 's Champions league clash with Barca. Looks like Willian has caught our attention very much.

I think I'm right in saying Andy Carroll has appeared 3 times in a red shirt and played the equivalent of 2 whole games.

The fact he hasn't scored yet is insignificant. His goalscoring ratio at Newcastle was 1 in 2.5, so maybe a goal tonight?

Judge him at the end of next season.

So Ed you do you think we are watching at ajax then? because Eriksen was the one we was but he would only move to barca? {Ed001's Note - we have continued to monitor Ajax, I was told Erikssen is still the main reason for that. He's only played 4-5 games hasn't he so I don't think its time to worry yet.

Right lets get a grip regarding Charlie Adams, and Hollaways barmy valuation. He signed for Blackpool 2 years ago, for £500,000. he is not worth more than say £6m at most at present, that at best, in a sellers market, .

We need not to get over excited, he would only be a decent squad player in any of the top teams, at present he is a bigfish in a small pond.

Dont forget all the experts who claimed that Roy Hodgson was the best manager in the league, look what he did for us just a waste of money! ! again reasonable at small clubs, put him in charge of a big one he has no idea . After all please everyone remember he has never won anything! !

Adams is not in the same league as many of the other players linked with the club, squad okay, but regular first team sorry I don't see it.

Its the same with every british born player, double the price for some reason.

Liverpool need only top quality from now on, no make do's, or fillins just quality.

As for Kenny being manager, well the first thing is when I look at the options in world football, there are not that many that could be consider to have a better record than Kenny over the years, and his main claim over everyone is his Love, Loyalty and Passion for everything Liverpool.

There are only probably three managers in the world, who I think could replace or follow him into the club, in the eyes of the fans.

This is taken from 'the kop' official fan site. It's a fantastic read about Liverpool and manchester utd players agreeing to match fix their match during the war. Resulting in mancs surviving relagation:

"Liverpool and Man Utd Match Fixing Scandal.

In April 1915 football in England was struggling.
Of course, Britain was at war by this time. The Great War was unfolding in Europe and against a backdrop of the general feeling that it would be over by Christmas the 1914/ 15 season had continued, in the hope that football would provide a welcome distraction to the daily news of battles and loss of life.

Attendances had plummeted, due to factories being forced to operate compulsory overtime and the numbers of young men joining up and setting off to the front line space was allocated in the Liverpool match day programme for Lord Kitchener s famous Your Country Needs You clarion call. Crowds at Anfield had fallen by about a half. Thousands of Scouser Tommy s were off to war.

With the news becoming bleaker football became meaningless and it was obvious that the current season would be the last for the foreseeable future.

So it was that Liverpool and Manchester United players met in a Manchester pub a few days prior to the clubs Good Friday clash at Old Trafford. United were at the foot of the table, facing relegation.

At the meeting it was agreed that the match would be fixed and Manchester would win by 2 goals to nil. The players would lay money on the result at odds of 7/ 1 and United would be helped in their quest to avoid relegation.

The match went ahead and George Anderson hit both goals as the home team duly went into the pre-arranged two goal lead. However, here was where the plan started to unravel.

The Liverpool team s efforts to fight their way back into the match were so feeble that the referee s suspicions were aroused. Liverpool were awarded a penalty, which was inevitably missed.

Liverpool s Jack Sheldon was later discovered to be the man who had hatched the plot, having previously been a United player. He had used his connections in both camps to liaise the conspiracy. Not every player was involved however. The goal scorer George Anderson and Liverpool s Fred Pagnam were known to be dissenters.

Pagnam hit the United crossbar late in the match and this prompted the incredible sight of his team-mates visibly remonstrating with him, which was duly noted by the match officials. The referee later described the match as the most extraordinary he had ever taken part in.

The bookmakers immediately became suspicious. Large numbers of bets had been laid on the result across the whole country and handbills were later discovered which had been distributed giving details of the result to be bet on. An inquiry was launched and the bookies refused to pay out until it had been completed.

As a result of the investigation four players from Liverpool and three from United were found guilty of match-fixing, the outcome being helped by evidence from Fred Pagnam who was disgusted in his colleague s actions.

The FA determined that neither club had been officially involved and although the seven players were handed lifetime bans, no points deductions were dished out. As a result of the fixed game Man United escaped relegation by a single point and Chelsea were nominally relegated.

As it happened the league did not resume until 1919/ 20, and the Football Association increased the size of the top division thus reinstating Chelsea to the top flight.

In recognition of their service to the country in the war all of the surviving players had their bans lifted except for Manchester United s Enoch West. (Sandy Turnbull of Man u had been killed in the hostilities and had his ban quashed posthumously)

It is hard to believe these days that Liverpool players could ever contemplate throwing a game which could save United from relegation, merely for personal gain.

There is no record of the Stretford crowd singing We re Man United. We ll do what we want

At least we can take heart that there was at least one Liverpool player who comes out of it with immense credit. Fred Pagnam- we salute you.

(Fred Pagnam only played 8 more games for Liverpool after the War before leaving to join Arsenal. He would later coach Galatasaray and the Turkish national sides, becoming one of the first Englishmen to coach abroad. He died in 1962, aged 70.)

{Ed006's Note - This was rumoured about 3 days ago aswell, I really doubt that he will come to us. He had 3 or 4 good games all season and has become so overated because of this.}

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this too. OK what he did against Inter Milan was pretty special but all of a sudden after that he was apparently worth £50m+. We can get other players much cheaper and they would probably benefit the club more.

Yo, ed! Your pal here, Murphy.
Ed002, you obviously don't have a high opinion of Enrique, Izaguirre and Wendt. You also are of the view that Cissokho, Santon, Taiwo and Coentrao won't be joining Liverpool.
With any move for Baines highly improbable (if not impossible), which left back should we be after in your opinion?

Lastly, do you honestly , like really, really believe that City could sell us Adam Johnson?

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure a move for Baines is entirely out of the question. I cannot speculate on which left back Liverpool should be after of course. If Mr Thompson is correct, it will be Enrique so that will clearly put an end to the issue.}

Morning Ed
Regarding the keep situation what do you know

Is Reina staying or going And if he does go do you have any news on who will replace him?

Is Brad Jones going?
Are we really interested in bring Brad Friedel back the club?

thanks

{Ed006's Note - I have heard that Brad Jones is staying, I don't know about Reina, I really hope he stays.}

"Surely this can't be true, why would spurs sell him and if they did why would he consider Liverpool when he has the choice of any club in Europe."

We need him more than any other club who are linked to him.
Guaranteed first team action unlike other teams.
Kenny Dalglish.
Next season is a lot more promising

What part particularly do you find surprising Ed? Cheers

The Irish Rover

{Ed002's Note - I find it suprising that Phil Thompson has said such a thing in an interview - if it is not entirely correct it leaves the club open to a charge of making an illegal approach for a player of course. I must admit they sound realistic apart from karim Benzema although with the owners showing a bit of financial backing you never know. Although im not sure on Sylvain Marveaux , i havent seen enough of him to judge , but i hear hes quick and skillfull but very injury prone which we can do without. Other than that i think they would be good additions to the club.

So Italian sources leaked to La Gazzetta Della Sport have apparently revealed a meeting between Roma officials and FC Porto manager Villas Boas where he has refused the possible offer from Roma's new potential owners to become their manager as he said to them that he has some form of agreement with Liverpool, pre contract possibly, and that Mourinho his old mentor advised him that Italy was not the right place for him at the moment. I don't know if these details are absolutely correct as the source is in Italian but what do you make of the rumours?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I would love that that with kenny as his wise old mentor for a couple of years. he'd learn more from kk than he would from mourinho!

{Ed002's Note - Not a chance.}

- - - - - - -

Why not ed, it seems a fairly plausible story considering he was linked with us before kenny took over and i think it would be great if he become manager, but still having kenny working with the players etc.

{Ed002's Note - He was linked only by fans who wanted him as the manager - in the same way as Messi and Sanchez have been linked as players. All Villas Boas did was say that there was no truth in a story linking him to the Inter job. The chances of him becoming manager at Liverpool anytime soon are wide of the mark and any suggestion that he might want to become assistant manager at Liverpool under his mentor Kenny Dalglish are laughable.}

Bayern have sacked LVG. .move to anfield more apparent now. King K has known this all along

WAIT A SECOND, Spanner in the works. My postman has been let go, Rumours on the street saying HE will take over from King K.

To the original poster, STOP being a waste of page space will you. Let me guess WHEN we don't get him, We'll be after the next Manager to get sacked.

And Kenny was told in Jan/ Feb that the job was his if he wanted it, And he DOES.

So NO Villas Boas, NO Luis Van Gaal, NO MON, Kenny is STAYING.

think its rubbish to be honest. Roma's new owner is involved in FSG and would probably be aware if something as big as a pre-contract was made with LFC and would not have approached him initially?

My gut feeling is that the players we were linked with in Jan (namely Marveaux, Turan, gervinho and especially Benzema) decided to wait until May to see if we make Euro qualification or not. I'm not saying we won't sign good players but certainly players like Benzema, Hamzik, Benega, Martinez, Turan, etc will have a host of clubs interested so why pick one who are not in Europe?

I've heard quite a lot about him and I think he could be very good for us. Not sure the King is quite up to it himself so have a partnership between Villas Boas and Kenny. Rumours going round that we've signed Enrique in a done deal? Honda is not leaving so we can forget that. I know Bale is well known and British and I would love to see him but he's injury prone so I'd spend the 40 mil on Pastore instead(just watch the boy play, perfect replacement for Gerrard a better, younger, faster, more skillful version of Nasri). Need a majour clear out, wouldn't mind seeing Cavani(mates with Luis) rather than Benzema, Simone Kjaer and Javi Martinez.

Now, I'm the biggest optimist ever, especially when it comes to Liverpool but For the life of me I just can't see how we are going to win tonight. If we could get our first 11 out then I would shouting from the rooftops about us winning, but missing 4 players especially when 3 of them are defenders then I think we are doomed to failure. What I will say is that it is vital that Meireles plays in his natural position & not on the right of midfield. It is also vital that we don't start playing direct balls straight up to Carroll but get Suarez on the ball as much as possible. I personally would have a real go with Kuyt & Carroll up front with Suarez tucked in behind them, Meireles in the middle with Lucas & Spearing & then stick your hand in a bag & pull out 4 defenders! Any 4 will do, because let's be honest! They're all carp!

Ps: I'll still be rooting for us tho, Carroll to score the first goal.

Yeah, spot on mate, the 8/ 9 players are Enrique, Cahill, Adam, Young, Benzema, Dzsudzsak, Sissoko, Elia, Hennessey from what Ive been told. I expect at least 5/ 6 signings out of them. Have you heard anything on specific signings mate, or have you just got the list of targets. Cheers pal.

According to some reports and Phil Thompson Liverpool have done a £15 million pound deal for Newcastle defender Jose Enrique, the deal will be complete in the summer transfer window.

Phil thompson came out on Norwegian tv saying

From what I ve heard, yes the deal has been done and he will come to Liverpool. It ll be interesting because he s done very well. He had a difficult first season coming into the Premiership a couple of years ago but he really understands the game now. He s one of those full backs who is good going forward but he s also a good defender and I think that is the main thing.

Im not sure Newcastle fans will be happy with Mike Ashley but what do Liverpool fans make of this move?

The only post that keeps repeating is yours, i have NO problem with any fan coming on to this 'LIVERPOOL' site, but by telling the ED's to ''make a new section and jist post the chances of players being linked to stop the Clogging of the website'' is asking for a change to this 'LIVERPOOL' site, how is this NOT asking for a change HOW? The joey Barton rumours, seriously!

Do you not remember his post match interview after the Newcastle victory over Liverpool this season? He was very defensive of being an evertonian! I'm almost certain based on the strength of his reaction he Is NOT coming to LFC.

Furthermore his attitude is terrible and I think it would have a negative affect on the attitude and behaviour of andy carroll.
