Evening. question for any eds wanting to answer aha. Anthony Knockaert, Brighton. Been consistantly scoring and assisting for a few seasons, yes it's in the championship but I'd say the gulf in class bar the top 8 of the prem isn't that different from the top of the championship. This season so far he's Scored 13 and assisted 7, and only 24 I believe? Just wondering have Liverpool thought about a move or has any club looked at him. Left sides attacker as well, on the wing or behind a striker. Thanks for your time eds.

{Ed002's Note - You have MoTD fever - you would do better to go to the Brighton page (or the general football page) and ask who is interested. The problem with throwing up random names on the Liverpool page is that the answe will invariably be no.}

hi is there any intrest in ...

{Ed002's Note - You are on the wrong page - this is the Liverpool page.}

10 Mar 2017 16:35:17
hi ed002 i meant from lfc.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to answer random questions about interest in players.}

10 Mar 2017 13:00:08
Hey ed01, when you have the time, a few questions about you:
- what is the opinion of the coaching staff about young Divok's development and potential? I see a very talanted striker in there, but he seems to have fallen a wee bit in the pecking order under the new system.
- Ben Woodburn - looks a talent, and is getting first team exposure, albeit limited, but what is his position expected to be? I believe he will thrive as a false 9 in a flexible attacking unit (sort of Firmino's position), but in the first team he has been operating on the wing, and there were some rumours that long-termly he is seen as a Lallana-esque midfielder. What are the views of the coaching staff?
- Grujic - per chance an update? He seems a real talent, but injuries hampered his season. Is a breaktrough expected next year?
- young Joe Gomez, how is his rehabilitation from the injury going? Is there a danger that he will become a forgotten man like Illori, or will there be more of a push to integrate him in the first team? I really like him and want him to make it with us - though I would prefer him to be a CB, and no experiments at the LB, after Martin Kelly I kind of lost hope with the whole "let's develop our future central defenders in the fullback role" stratagem.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Origi is very well liked and a lot is expected of him in the future.
A lot depends on Woodburn's physical development, nothing is set in stone yet for his future.
He will have to get games because of his work permit.
Gomez is on the bench usually mate, he is still a way off getting back to his best. He needs more time yet but he is expected to challenge for a first team place next season.}

10 Mar 2017 15:54:25
Woodburn has great potential.

He reminds me of Dalglish in his style and positioning.

So no pressure there then.

10 Mar 2017 16:28:10
Gomez has started quite a few games lately and he has been completing the full 90 so hopefully it won't be long before he's on the team. Next season I would imagine.

10 Mar 2017 17:34:38
Origi is IMO, our young Lewandowski. He showed last season before his injury that he can be simply unplayable on his day. Ask Mats Hummels. He has ALL the tolls (pace, power, aerial and dribbling abilities, physical attributes) to be a world class CF. And most of all, he is super humble, dedicated and eager to learn and succeed. It's all up to him to put it all together. As for the other two, Woodburn is still young yet very gifted and Gomez? We'll have to see if he can step up.

11 Mar 2017 08:58:42
Origi is a long way off Lewandowski's level at this moment in time mate for the simple reason he doesn't score very often. He has lots of quality attributes, no doubt about it, but clinical finishing isn't one at the moment - until he improves his goal scoring rate (and he certainly has the potential to do so) he cannot be mentioned in the same sentence as Lewandowski who's scoring rate is intimidating to say the least.

10 Mar 2017 16:45:07
If Origi is our young Lewandowski then Y are people crying out for a 20 plus goals season striker for the coming campaign 🤔.

11 Mar 2017 17:58:41
Sean's if you read my post, you will see that I never said that he was at Lewa's level cos at 21, Lewandowski was not who he is now and was barely getting games at BVB behind Barrios. He has the potential to be at Lewa's level and we have seen that potential last season. Lewa only became a beast at 24/25. Origi is 21 and has time to develop. It's up to him to put it all together.

10 Mar 2017 13:16:30
Seems Bobby is injured now as well as Hendo and Studge. Ed001 do you get any insight into players fitness beyond what the Echo say? Im hoping Firmino will pull through?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no, I got asked a long time ago not to post up about team selection and fitness etc, so I made a point of no longer finding out anything other than the club's official releases. I know it would help the site, but club comes first and they asked me not to.}

10 Mar 2017 13:35:28
Thats fair enough then mate. Makes sense I guess. We have been unlucky with injuries again. I thought Lovren and Hendo only just missed out v Arsenal, must be worse then first thought unless its just fitness.

10 Mar 2017 17:36:22
Lovren is back in training but not fully fit yet. Hendo is a bit more complicated cos foot injuries are just that, complicated. I truly hope Firmino pulls thru but I have my doubts.

Morning Eds and Reds

Can anyone help me with the ruling behind champions league places etc.

For example, if we finish fourth this year and MUFC win the Europa, do we lose our place? Hopefully not.

Cheers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

10 Mar 2017 09:34:49
that would only happen if say a team that finishes outside the top 4 win the champions league and a team outside the top four wins the europa league. then the 4 spot would not get cl.

10 Mar 2017 12:32:59
So, that'll be Leicester and Man Utd then.

10 Mar 2017 12:53:25
I think the Europa league winners (if outside the top 4) get an extra slot (5 teams next year) . I think if Leicester or Man city won the champions league and finished outside of the top 4 they would take the place allocated to the team that finishes 4th.

Some chat tonight on fullbacks. I would be happy witb a great lb and move milner to Rb. Why not he's decent.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

10 Mar 2017 07:26:30
Milner is not the answer.

10 Mar 2017 07:32:04
Why is Milner not the answer at RB?
Only thing he's lacking IMO is pace.

10 Mar 2017 08:05:05
That and ability to cross. Is that not enough?

10 Mar 2017 08:15:16
If Milner is the answer, I'm afraid of the question.

10 Mar 2017 08:41:24
Milner can cross with his right, he can actually cross with his left when forced to. For some reason he seems to have a mental block on this and constantly cuts back. Put him on the right, we'll see some first time crosses. Milners worst cross, is still better than Clynes best cross.

10 Mar 2017 12:09:22
I've seen Milner put some great crosses in from the right - 4th goal vs Dortmund?
I've never seen Clyne produce any quality crosses.

10 Mar 2017 14:57:04
That is one critical thing Klopp likes in his full backs Ron.

10 Mar 2017 15:36:41
Are we talking about the same Milner whose right footed corners were all abysmal? When did people make out miner would be a good right back? Is it a hindsight or another let's play X over there? I just don't get this.
All the 15 clubs below us and 3 above us have proper left back and right back except us who is still playing midfielder. For the wages Milner is pocketing you could get the best LB in Europe.

10 Mar 2017 15:38:35
Clyne has no end product, period. I wouldn't mind a LB and switching Milner (if he's willing of course) to RB along with TAA and getting shot of Clyne.

10 Mar 2017 15:59:41
I have only seen Clyne put in one good cross in his entire Liverpool career and that was his cross for Firmino to score past Burton Albion in the cup this season.

10 Mar 2017 16:36:28
Your calling arsenals fullbacks decent fullbacks? and Man cities mathematics? Where do you think most people are targeting city? What do you call Joel Ward? He shouldn't even be a pro footballer really. Glen Jonhson we got rid of. Hvae you sene how poor olsson is for Swansea?

10 Mar 2017 18:14:20
Bellerin is top class. He is just in poor form but the rest of the fullbacks in the PL are garbage.

10 Mar 2017 17:46:46
Spot on, Chileanred. Harry, your post makes no sense and none of what you said is true. "All 15 teams below us and the 3 above us have better fullbacks than us". Utter nonsense, really. Do you want Van Anholt, Chris Brunt, Billy Jones, Kyle Naughton, Angel Rangel, the lot? Where do you get this nonsense from? You always make these blanket statements that have NO basis in fact nor reality. BTW, There is NOT one defender I would want from City nor Arsenal (Koscielny is passed it and Mustafi is average) . Their fullbacks and CB's all together are woeful. All Chelsea's CB's are poor and Spurs' CB's are really good but their FB's are poor. Good Grief!

10 Mar 2017 19:14:39
I think there are very few good full/ wing backs in the Prem.

Very good ones include Azpilicueta, Bellerin, Bertrand and Robertson.

Good ones include Soares, Fuchs, Alonso and Zabaleta (although Zabaleta is on his last legs) .

Average ones include Kolarov, Sagna, Monreal, Rojo, Moses, Clichy, Rose, Walker, Milner, Valencia, Blind, Darmian, Pieters, Friend and maybe a few more.

I think their are a few exceptional young talents to add to that as well; Arnold, Tymon, Chilwell, Shaw and Ake (if you see him as a full back that is) .

I don't actually think we have a single world class full back in the English top flight though. Liverpool have Moreno and Clyne who are not even semi-average. They have made it to the top based on nothing but speed and over zealous aggression.

10 Mar 2017 20:28:58
Everyone here forgetting about Seamus Coleman, he is quality and would improve Liverpool no doubt, no chance of getting him from Everton tho think he will end up in Manchester.

10 Mar 2017 20:56:16
Think that Milner can only be a better right back than he is a left back being on his better foot for crossing etc. And he is our first choice left back like it or not only due to lack of options but he has done well.
We need players who can play the way Klopp wants. The system he plays relies on the defenders knowing when to storm fwd, be aware defensively and have a good footballing brain. Rules out Moreno unfortunately. Clyne is less of a liability but has his moments. Even the best full backs though I reckon will get exposed by the way we play we just have to accept it.

10 Mar 2017 22:18:35
To be fair I'd have Coleman in with Soares, Fuchs etc. Very good going forward.

11 Mar 2017 07:16:23
Don't get me wrong, I like Milner, but really?

He's into his 30s, has no pace, can't cross and has little defensive awareness, all of which will only continue to decline (possibly rather quickly) instead of developing and improving.

We need someone on the upward curve.

10 Mar 2017 16:41:54
HIggins

And what is Klopp's system? And how does Milner fits in his system? You know nothing about the system in the first place. Who were his full backs at Dortmund? Did he played any midfielders at right back?

I am pretty sure Milner might have given couple of autographs to some of the people here they are raving about him. How many games have he played at Right back that people see him a successful Philip Lahm?

If he was half good in his crossings as people suggest he would have played at RW in place of Mane when Mane was away ( A position which he actually played at city )

09 Mar 2017 21:13:07
Hey ed, out of curiousity, are we still tracking Saidar Azmoun? I seem to recall there were some rumours about him.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Klipperty had the Klopps for him so it is possible.}

10 Mar 2017 08:32:41
lol, nicly put.

10 Mar 2017 09:46:38
Best. Response. Ever! Now I can tell my Milan-supporting mate, who would've sold his soul for Azmoun*, that Liverpool have the Klopps for him!

*if he hadn't already bartered most of it for Chinese investment, CL place and Andrea Bellotti's shadow, that is.
