He's the Normal One 😎.

11 Mar 2016 01:45:01
They know who they are and will never admit it on these boards.

11 Mar 2016 07:21:57
I admit I had a dig at him on the day Mignolet signed a new deal because I was so fuming at a 5 year contract. But I regained my composure. 😉.

11 Mar 2016 08:19:21
Migs must surely be replaced in the summer though even with the new contract.

10 Mar 2016 23:22:13
Great coverage of the match on BT tonight, especially the analysis. Macca, Scholesy and Rio were fantastic entertainment and pretty spot on about the game and the state of both teams. Good chemistry between the three and all legends. Sky must be gutted missing out on that game but not as much as I'm gutted at typing these words as a pathetic, ex Man-U player praising arm chair fan!

Shame about the bias of Michael Owen and Trevor Francis though; to think I used to like Owen (Ed001 and situations since have made me see sense) .

Overall I thought the referee had a good game though! Apart from Fellani at the end!

10 Mar 2016 22:58:18
Alexi Lalas Beards, that game was for you and your family. I don't know you, but I was thinking about you and your dad the whole time. Hope you keep walking on with hope in your heart, knowing you're due a golden sky after this storm. You'll never walk alone.

Well said mate, I hope tonight bought u a little happiness amongst the pain mate.

11 Mar 2016 00:53:26
Class from both Noski and CTR - respect fellas.

11 Mar 2016 01:46:04
Yes, it was Alexis. Our prayers are with you and your family.

11 Mar 2016 02:37:14
Well said Noski. Thinking of you Alexi.

10 Mar 2016 23:09:54
Just got back fron the game. Can safely say the best atmosphere we've bad since at least the champions league days under rafa but i'm sure it was 10x better than that.

Absolutely unbelievable. The best match i've ever been to by a mile.

So proud of all the players tonight. They knew what they had to do, bullied them off the park and won.

Perfect result, proud to be a liverpool fan, didn't stop singing all game. Was right by the mancs as i was on the right of main stand, can safely say we put them in their place.

What a pleasurable win and night to remember.

Hope u enjoyed it as much as I did watching on tv. Totally smashed them. Seemed their game plan was sit deep, GK has a worldie and smash then grab a goal. No way! We made them look like the tripe they are and had De Gea not had a worldie, we would have ended the tie and played the kids at Old Trafford. Great result and bravo to ALL the LFC family. Everything is BOOM!

10 Mar 2016 23:04:08
Did you see that atmosphere Reds? WOW!
It was like Anfield again. Amazing night.

11 Mar 2016 00:22:26
Yeh United woke it up :)

10 Mar 2016 23:03:23
Also forgot to mention firmino in my previous post, can't get enough of him at the moment! At times he seems so disinterested, but seems to pop up more often than not now. He glided past players today, coutinho-esque, just beating that first man and creating space. His finishing has improved and he really seems to be settling. When we work that hard, I think it works so well with lallana and coutinho with him, and Allen coming on (credit to him today, was strong and played the ball well) . Defientely need a bit of pace around, with origi or Sturridge, origi stuck on carrick well have him a torrid last 15 mins.

10 Mar 2016 23:32:40
Klopp was a genius tonight. Utd switched to three at the back hence, we were outnumbered in midfield. He brought Allen on and that neutralized their midfield and his forward runs from deep caused the all sorts of probs. Now that's great coaching and tactical nous.

11 Mar 2016 04:36:10
I still don't understand this notion, that keeps popping up, that Firmino is sometimes "disinterested".

Beyond the fact that this is his first EPL season, even the very best players do not dominate every minute of every 90 they play. Sometimes even the best have quiet games or moments, due to being tactically isolated, or double marked, or isolated due to being played within a weak team, etc, etc.

The truth is, Firmino has been our best attacker for weeks, and lately, often been our very best player. Not only that, he's quietly becoming one of the best attackers in the entire EPL in 2016. Because he doesn't have world class pace, and often creates a load of chances that are wasted by teammates, he doesn't get the same attention as an Aguero or Costa, who score goals. The the stats don't lie: no one has been involved in more goals/ assists in 2016 in the EPL than Firmino.

Firmino is not just "coming good". He is going to be world class. Mark my words. He's a different player than Suarez-- Luis is more of an out-and-out striker, while Bobby is more of a playmaker who can also score goals-- but he may up having a similar impact on this team.

11 Mar 2016 08:22:54
You have to wonder at a firmino, suarez combo what it would have been!

he is getting better and better and looks settled. Loved that turn he did past 2 utd players!

10 Mar 2016 23:03:06
Didn't see the game ( Offshore ) why did Studge come off? He's hopefully not injured is he? Thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 23:17:33
Tactical.

10 Mar 2016 23:25:55
Tactical reasons I think.

10 Mar 2016 23:52:35
Kloop wanted a cm to come on so Sturridge come off.

11 Mar 2016 08:24:21
Also protects studge a bit to. Glad he's back staying fit, so it was 2 birds with one stone, needed to bring on Xavi and then gives studge a bit of protection!

10 Mar 2016 22:51:55
Am I the only one hoping uefa don't investigate the fellaini-can incident, because I want him to be in their team next week?!

Believable5 Unbelievable5

10 Mar 2016 23:06:23
No. He should be banned. Horrible human being and he's somehow been getting away with it for years. Even did it to our u21s earlier this season.

10 Mar 2016 23:33:40
Fellaini should never have finished the game as he should have been sent off way before then.

11 Mar 2016 00:40:50
It was pathetic of him especially with a ref that suposidly gave so many cards before hand.

10 Mar 2016 22:50:38
Great result, credit to the fans, I haven't heard us sing that loud in years, we terrified them with the atmosphere and that made us play much better. The players just destroyed them all over the pitch, they are lucky it wasnt 3, 4 5, 6-0, if we took more of our chances we could have been De Gea kept them in it, what is soo good about that result I feel is we now have a whole week to prepare for the 2nd leg, they have West Ham at the weekend, and I don't think they will stop us from scoring next week. I truely believe though if we sing that way every single home game, we would terrify teams off the pitch. The fans played a massive role tonight, they played harder because the fans. I would have died to be there. Great result, but still plenty to do next week. YNWA lads.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 22:41:39
BRILLIANT RESULT REDS! Great performance tonight. I'm usually the first to criticize our fans of being over confident and saying that we can finish a two legged tie in the first leg. Although I'm delighted with the result I can't help feeling we had the chance to bury them. Looking forward to next week.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 23:35:26
We should have ended the tie tonight and played the kids at Old Trafford. Anyhow, two goals, a clean sheet, confidence jacked up, I will take that.

11 Mar 2016 01:12:47
B4 the game I would have taken 2-0 - after the performance I wish we had scored more and could have.

Still I'm not knocking the players for that - we're seeing more consistency and Can is looking better and better - Moreno is looking a bit out of place (first half) .

10 Mar 2016 22:27:37
Great result today! Great movement work rate and a nice bit of flair to top it off!

Just hope we can improve on being more clinical, remember coutinho and Studge having chances they definitely should have done better with. Great result but if we were more clinical could have had 3 or 4 nil which kills the tie.

Side note but commentary I watched (american) kept saying we were gifted two goals? They were errors but caused by pressure, gifting a goal is a player not being closed down playing a short pass to a keeper or a goalie holding onto a ball for 26 seconds!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 22:25:21
Proud of the boys today! Special mentions for me are Clyne, was solid in the tackle and looked a lot more comfortable attacking than normal, and Emre Can, thought he's been beastly the last few games, won some big headers against Fellaini (absolutely hate him, that elbow is on a long list and can have no excuses) and was strong through my the pitch. Hendo wasn't bad, did his work well, I said it in the week, if lallana firmino and coutinho are on song, we don't need him to create as much, just make sure they don't get anything, which they didn't. Lallana as well keeping his form up, taking a lot of touches again, but they were useful at times. Bar that sakho missed kick, the defence were fairly solid again.
Can't wait for the second leg, first goal is crucial, I'd consider starting Allen or Milner over Sturridge, and saving him if we need one, and sure up the middle a bit. Overall a top performance, let's hope we don't rue the chances we missed, and the saves de gea made.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

10 Mar 2016 22:16:40
Good performance if not clinical. JA for studge. masterstroke! Perfect example of a manager seeing a situation and reacting to it. JK take a bow!
Can't see 3-0.but please score one so we don't get 2-0 n pens!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 22:52:23
It's a weird one. Before the game, 2-0 is awesome. After the game, still feel edgy because we should be 4-0 up and if U to beat West Ham it's a completely different game next week. Really made up with the lads though, they all deserve to feel amazing tonight. I'd like to single out Joe Allen. He really helped relieve pressure in the midfield when he camever on and at the moment, I wonder why we'd consider selling. He has been great recently. Thanks lads, feeling proud of your performance and proud to be LFC.

10 Mar 2016 23:38:03
Spot on, Mickey. Allen was a masterstroke by Klopp. We had apron in midfield and he fixed it. That is a coach who knows what he's doing. BOOM!

10 Mar 2016 23:47:07
To be fair. I think United will struggle with West Ham.

10 Mar 2016 22:14:43
Something must be wrong with me. Before the game I would give a year of my life for such a result. Now that its over I can't believe we didn't score more. Anyway I am sure I will be settled with just winning the tie.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 22:02:47
Great performance . good result well done red men ynwa . If we had finished better that would have been over . same again next week c'mon West Ham hit them hard the weekend .

Believable4 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 22:09:07
Going to be tough for them in the 2nd leg because they have to attack yet their defence is weak.

Great result but we deserved more 😎.

10 Mar 2016 22:11:47
Great result. great team performance . Should've been at least 4-0.that's how superior we were tonight.
Fellaini should have walked at the end for violent conduct on Can. Hope UEFA look at it.
Bring on the second leg.

10 Mar 2016 22:16:45
Lallana was the stand out for me tonight.

10 Mar 2016 22:27:23
I think Can quietly dictated the play. But an all round great team performance!

10 Mar 2016 22:29:49
Van Gaal claiming Firmino's goal was offside?

Does he know the rules?

10 Mar 2016 23:01:25
Hendo looked off side to me.

10 Mar 2016 23:06:54
Surely he must have been talking about the ball to Henderson before he puts it into the box and Carrick fails to clear. Looked sligtly offside to me. If he was talking about Lallanas ball to Firmino he have well and truly lost it.

10 Mar 2016 23:27:19
Hendo looks level on the replays IMO.

10 Mar 2016 22:00:32
Great performance. Yes could have had more goals but for de gea but it's a solid result and will give us even more confidence in the run down. Best players and coach won the game.

im watching on a stream. its like playing wheres waldo. the ref looks like an extra manu player.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

10 Mar 2016 21:38:53
I was thinking that!

10 Mar 2016 22:08:25
You know, I remember watching Man U fans complain about how many fouls Mascherano used to get away with when he was here.

I bet they don't care that Fellaini can get booked, and then spend 45 minutes contributing literally nothing to the game apart from fouls, and still stay on the pitch. I was never a big fan, but I like him even less now.

Still, at least the ref didn't bottle the penalty.

10 Mar 2016 19:51:01
Rues looked red hot tonight would pay big money for him b worth every penny.

10 Mar 2016 19:58:48

10 Mar 2016 22:02:18

10 Mar 2016 19:42:46
If we can get Liverpool playing like Dortmund. Some display thrashing one of the top teams in the prem.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

10 Mar 2016 19:15:03
Desperately hope Lallana has a high tempo game tonight. If he can consistently run in behind stretching them we have a chance, if they all bunch in that final central third we will have a frustrating night.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

10 Mar 2016 19:25:10
If he picks his head up he'll do well IMO.

10 Mar 2016 19:07:08
Looks like Felliani is in the middle tonight lads, we need to make sure this game is played around him,

Believable1 Unbelievable5

10 Mar 2016 19:02:06
ohh. has ibe really fallen out of favour, optiing for ojo on the bench tonight instead?
injured or something?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

10 Mar 2016 19:13:09
Im guessing Ojo is being rewarded for his hat-trick in the 21's and rightly so.

10 Mar 2016 19:16:37
if he gets picked, he gets trashed, a great chance for ojo, the subs bench is certainly looking a lot stronger these days, Jordan ibe's turn will come, not sure if he is injured or wheather klopp has just taken him out of the firing line for his own good, any of the eds have any info on this?

{Ed001's Note - I haven't mate, I stay clear of team line ups etc as I got asked not to reveal any info I had on them by someone from the club a few years ago. Rather than accidentally revealing something I just try and steer clear of asking about them now. Ed002 normally keeps a close eye on the injury situation at the club so I can steer clear.}

10 Mar 2016 19:20:14
Confidence is high, whereas Ibey is out of form and needs to be out of the limelight.

Ed1 I know son was your 1st choice ahead of firminio. I know both are still adapting but how do you think both have done and now that they have been here a few months would you still choose son?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - I am very happy with Firmino, Son is still not showing what he can do regularly. To be fair, Son has been in and out of the team constantly, while Firmino has been regular when fit. At top level they are much of a muchness in terms of overall quality, though they offer slightly different skillsets. The reason why I would have gone for Son is that he was cheaper and he offered huge potential for marketing the Liverpool brand in Asia.}

10 Mar 2016 18:47:58
Cheers for the reply mate 👍.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome.}

10 Mar 2016 18:51:10
It's very noticeable how Firminio has grown into the league. He looked a bit shell shocked at first. Always looking for the ball now.

10 Mar 2016 18:03:21
So we all know ed01 thinks u will lose 2-0, mainly because of his dislike for klopp, but what do u guys think?

1-1 for me.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - *sighs* I knew I would regret not banning you from the first moment you started posting!!!}

10 Mar 2016 18:21:47
But then there would be no CTR, CTR thinks that would be a shame lol.

{Ed001's Note - I wonder if we could find anyone else on any of the sites who would agree with you? :-P

10 Mar 2016 18:29:53
Ouch lol.

{Ed001's Note - I am guessing that was you trying to think of someone who would agree with you....}

10 Mar 2016 18:31:54
We all know about Ed001's predictions😉

I think LFC are going win and I'm going to go for 3-0.

10 Mar 2016 18:41:05
no joking 5-1 lpool.

10 Mar 2016 19:02:59
I hope Liverpool will win but i am far from confident. United are massively overpriced at nearly 3/ 1! If i wasnt a Liverpool fan i know who i would be backing. :-/.

10 Mar 2016 17:40:00
Please please please let there be a God and help us win this one. Couldn't cope with another loss to this bang average United team.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

10 Mar 2016 18:32:42
Absolutely mate! Losing to them hurts.

10 Mar 2016 18:35:31
They will win. Keep the faith. A good friend of mine was laid to rest today. A fellow Liverpool fanatic. Unfortunately his life was cut short through suicide. As his body was making its way to the church his father, a singer, walked in front of the hearse and sang you'll never walk alone. I think tonight will be ours.
RIP Wee Cubb. . . YNWA.

10 Mar 2016 18:46:58
so sorry to hear about that mate, may he rest in peace, and never walk alone.

10 Mar 2016 16:37:37
Why is everyone so worried about the referee being so card happy? No one tackles in our team apart from Lucas and Milner and they aren't playing. The only one that is worrisome is Moreno let's hope he isn't reckless as he has been last few games and we'll be ok.

Kloppo for Prime Minister!

Believable3 Unbelievable4

10 Mar 2016 17:14:33
because a referee has the ability to ruin a game of football, by dishing out cards like they were going out of fashion, plus both set of supporters would be fuming if any body pulls out of a tackle tonight. A good ref realises the history of the 2 teams and shows commom sense, it sounds like this ref is guided by the rule book, with no give or take.

10 Mar 2016 17:51:54
Well if he manages to actually punish Fellaini for an elbow that would be fine. Also sending of Mata after 25 mins again might be nice.

10 Mar 2016 18:00:38
I don't like to slate our players, but for the first leg at home, I would play Flanagan on the left and Clyne on the right, because Moreno's been a bit stab-happy and I could easily see that causing us trouble tonight. Definitely a test for Moreno if he does get the nod over Flan.

10 Mar 2016 18:02:03
Calm down buttercup. It's ironic humor King Kenny.

10 Mar 2016 18:35:32
peace out bd, we both want the same thing tonight, agree with you about Moreno mind, I don't know which is worse his tackling itself or when he dosent bother at all. Amerigo Flanagan is not in our Europa league squad, klopp has already apologised for this mistake.

10 Mar 2016 18:15:27
Flanagan isn't in the European named squad.

10 Mar 2016 16:12:01

10 Mar 2016 16:52:01
That's a shame, Barry, although I'm in the same boat - travelling on a train during the game!

Yes, its on regular 5 live so available on a normal radio.

10 Mar 2016 17:02:32
Nice one Zeddicus thanks for that. A hard fought 2-0 to us mate.
Come on the Reds!

10 Mar 2016 17:24:28
That's what sick days are for mate.
Didn't you catch European football fever? Lol.

10 Mar 2016 18:32:19
I'm down to my iPhone and I'm yet to find anything to work with that : (

10 Mar 2016 18:48:25

10 Mar 2016 19:24:53
Welsh boy download mobdro and you can stream all the sports channels.

10 Mar 2016 15:23:17
Slightly worried about tonight's referee, apparently he has awarded 76 yellow cards and 6 reds in his last 10 games, either he can't control a game or he's been been officiating some very physical matches.
It could finish with 16 men on the pitch if he continues issuing cards at this rate.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

10 Mar 2016 15:38:43
the last thing Liverpool vs utd needs is a card happy ref, kt he sounds like one of these refs who takes every infringement seriously no matter what and feels every offence is worthy of a card, I do hope if he is dishing out red ones its to the team playing in white.

10 Mar 2016 14:51:51
looking forward to the game tonight, let's hope we can get the rub of the green we have not had in recent games vs united, I do hope we come out with a quick tempo and don't let utd settle into there sideways passing bore the opposition to death football, I also hope we are more ruthless with our finishing. It is a 2 legged game but I do feel we have to take an advantage back to Manchester if we are to progress. let's end this lvg curse he seems to have over us.

{Ed001's Note - yes, one.}

10 Mar 2016 13:42:39
Did Mignolet happen to be with you on that podcast?

10 Mar 2016 12:43:00
Spoiler alert for tonight's game, DDG will single handed keep the score at 0-0 whilst we lull you into a false sense of security by boring you to death before pouncing with our one and only shot of the game. LVG job will again be saved and will be his tactical nouse that wins us the game.

10 Mar 2016 13:07:31

10 Mar 2016 13:37:27
I feel sorry for DDG tonight.

10 Mar 2016 14:14:20
You'll need to stop our relentless sideways passing first Ron 😉.

10 Mar 2016 16:09:13
Fair play Welsh Red Devil nice to see you coming on here for a bit of craic. Hat's off the to you mate.

10 Mar 2016 16:13:30
We've got Joe Allen for sideways passing 😄
He wrote the books, proof-read the books, edited the books, published the books, bought all the books and eventually re-cycled all the books on sideways passing.
LVG must have bought them from his local charity shop 😉.

10 Mar 2016 17:39:37
This has been happening for years.

10 Mar 2016 18:33:33
Cheers Barry, nice one, I've lots of pool fans as friends and some of them are ok 😉 but yeah no reason why we can't have the craic. Well I guess a £50m bid for Joe Allen is imminent then ha. Good luck tonight lads, let's hope it's a bit more entertaining this time.

10 Mar 2016 18:34:11
It's been much better under Klopp, Ron. Although sporadically, Allens looked much better recently.

10 Mar 2016 18:53:11
he has gone from the welsh Xavi to the welsh pirlo, he is even trying to score from volleys now as well, mind you allen is a man utd fan so that could explain his performances for us, hope you come back for some after match banter welshboydave, you have made me smile most of the day.

10 Mar 2016 19:01:49
Yes, fair play to Joe, he's stepped it up that's why I said he's now re-cycled the books. 😉.

10 Mar 2016 12:04:55
This is just a thought Eds and fellow Reds but I'd love your thoughts on this, Scott Dann, iv watched him play only a few times but I know he's from Liverpool and a Liverpool fan, I seen on skysports news there that he would and should be in the England team, would you's take him and I for one would like to see more Liverpool lads in the team, I don't think he would be a bad player to be honest, you would get an extra 10% out of him if he played for Liverpool and I also know we are coming down with centre backs but it was only a thought?

Not good enough, in fact nowhere near good enough.

10 Mar 2016 12:19:56
Il take your word for it Ron lol I'm probably searching to much for bargain basement buys 😟.

10 Mar 2016 12:28:23
We nearly signed him ages ago if i remember correctly a lot thoight we missed a good player but for me he never upped his game to the level of tla top team.

{Ed001's Note - he picked up a bad injury, but it showed how much he had been carrying Roger Johnson in that Birmingham City side, as they imploded without him. He is a very good defender, but a limited one now, his legs are going and his pace is much less than it was. It is too late for him to get a chance at a top team, so he will have to continue to carry Palace's defence.}

10 Mar 2016 12:28:55
Don't take my word for it, I'm usually wrong 😉.

10 Mar 2016 12:30:39
Great defender for a mid table club, not for anyone with top tier aspirations. Got stuck in Blackburn for too long when he should have been pushing forward with better teams and managers.

10 Mar 2016 12:36:53
Thanks eds i knew there was something. Trying not to be negative 😂.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

10 Mar 2016 12:43:08
Well thanx for your thoughts Eds and fellow Reds 👍

I really do hope we tank these fools tonight, can't wait

10 Mar 2016 11:58:20
Bit of a discussion for everyone if they fancy it. Was having a conversation at training the other day as to who should start the Euro's up front. Obviously everybody said Kane and Vardy. However, I think that if Sturridge stays fit for the rest of the season and shows his top form, surely he has to start? Obviously Kane and Vardy are having good seasons, but a lot of that is down to who is behind you as a striker. I just feel as an individual, Sturridge is the best England striker.
On another note, I heard Hodgson talking about Wilshire and how he hinted he will most likely be in the squad. Must be so demoralising as a footballer i. e Drinkwater, knowing that no matter how good a season you have, you won't even be considered as the manager has certain favourites.
Anyway, back to the original point, should Sturridge be Englands main man, and do you see a space for Henderson?

Believable5 Unbelievable3

10 Mar 2016 12:27:40
Hart

Clyne Cahill? Baines

Hendo Milner

Alli

Sterling Kane Vardy

Attack attack attack!

Another centre back but you's boys can pick 👍.

10 Mar 2016 12:32:35
Kane as the no.1 with Vardy second. Sorry mate you can't make half a post about how England should ignore form and focus on quality, and then another half about how its wrong to ignore form and focus on quality (or at least as far as Roy see's it) . Kane and Vardy have both been on fire for club and Kane for country as well, and they are the first picks by merit. If in the last 10 games Sturridge scores 15 goals, we'll see.

{Ed001's Note - what quality does Wilshere possess? Apart from an ability to get injured by a strong gust of wind. He is average and a complete knob off the pitch.}

10 Mar 2016 12:39:16
I think Kane will def start and it's between Sturridge and Vardy to prove to Roy who is most suitable. Personally I'd go with Sturridge but only if his form improved over the coming weeks.
I think what Roy said is that if he picks the likes of Drinkwater he has to be 100% certain that he is better than what he's already got i. e Wilshire. Just because he's having a good season does not automatically make a better player than Jack Wilshire. I understand what Roy is saying and to me it makes sense I think Sky did a piece today that if Roy were to pick a team based on form and stats then England's back four would have 2 Bournemouth players in it!

{Ed001's Note - having five minutes on the pitch makes anyone a better player than Wilshere!}

10 Mar 2016 12:44:58
Plus I think you'll see I said if Sturridge hits top form for the remainder of the season. On current form, Vardy and Kane. But a fully fit Sturridge firing on all cylinders? Be a fool not to start with him.
I have never understood the hype about Wilshere. Arsenal fans see him as the second messiah. I would prefer a fully fit Henderson over Wlshere for Liverpool.

10 Mar 2016 12:46:27
It's just the team I would near pick mate, no dramas eh?

10 Mar 2016 12:51:42
For me definitely has to be el capitan rooney and of course the new Federico macheda markus rashford.

10 Mar 2016 12:54:29
I think your wrong about Wilshire Ed I understand he has injury problems and he may well be a nob off the pitch, but in my opinion he does posses quality he can receive the ball in tight spaces better than most and does not sacrifice possession when he does. His 1-2 touch pass and move put him above most other English central midfield players and I'm no Arsenal fan but I can certainly see his qualities.

{Ed001's Note - his one touch pass and move is what causes his constant injuries, because his control is abysmal and he is always overstretching to keep the ball. So I disagree completely, irrelevant of what team you support, his qualities are his passing, and even that is negated by his truly embarrassingly poor lack of intelligence.}

10 Mar 2016 13:51:35
Still think Rooney starts if he's fit and I'd play Studge next to, or in front of, him. Kane plays if either of those come off. Vardy still has to prove he can do it without Mahrez in his team.

As for midfield god knows. We have a lot of very talented young players who can each be brilliant on their day but not much experience or consistency. If I'm forced I'd say Hendo, Sterling and Barkley with someone else to provide the grit (maybe Dier) .

Biggest worry is for the first time in decades we haven't got a great centre half to rely on.

10 Mar 2016 14:20:54
Really think we should with form and youth. The older players have proven that they can't do well at big tournaments already. I think flanno is better than Clyne but can't see him starting.
Hart
Clyne Cahill stones shaw
Dier
Hendo alli
Sterling
Kane vardy.
Other teams won't know much about alli, dier, Kane and vardy. Dier is the only defensive midfielder we have, and he can play. The back four worries me, but can't see what else we can do, stones isn't great yet, but I think we should start him as he could be there for years. Don't think jagielka is international quality. i'd happily start flanno either full back but i don't think he will. i'd bring Sturridge if he stays fit.

10 Mar 2016 15:12:00
it dosent matter who gets picked or not the cold hard facts are we are not good enough if we get to the quarter finals it will be a miracle, I can hear it now, its been a long hard season the players are tired, so and so was carrying an injury, I have no confidence in the manager or his tatics, plus there are far better teams taking part, france for example have a very strong squad, sorry to rain on your parade but when it comes to England and tournament football we all know how the story ends.

10 Mar 2016 15:38:42
I think Danny drinkwater worth a shout. Maybe not a starter for England but at least make it to the squad. His performance had been so good that kept out Switz captain Inler.

10 Mar 2016 16:43:49
Hi all,
First time poster so go easy on me haha
My Eng team I picked as I think we should pick the best young players out there to give experience to, which will give them a push on to perform at the World Cup. To many years we pick the same group.
Butland
Walker, Smalling, Stones, Shaw
Dier,
Alli, Henderson
Sterling, Kane, Sturridge
Couldn't decide between Barkley and Henderson but think Barkley and Vardy could be important players off the bench especially when opposition is flagging fatigue wise.

10 Mar 2016 17:04:58
Hence the addition of 'or at least as far as Roy see's it'. Personally, I think Wilshere possesses very little talent but Roy clearly disagrees!

10 Mar 2016 11:46:43
All of the talk regarding replacing the goalkeeper is premature. Sure, he has cost us a few goals here and there and, maybe the defence isn't confident with him but every keeper makes mistakes, even England's number 1keeper. I would rather see a top class, dominant centre half who organises come in first. We haven't got money to throw around like some other teams but there must be a hidden gem playing somewhere. Other teams can find these players so why can't we? Let's not forget that although migs doesn't exactly inspire confidence, he has also saved us in other games.

Believable2 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - seriously? Premature? He is the weakest link in the team, it has to be the number one priority to replace him or we will never win. Shanks and Paisley always believed the keeper was the most important position in the team and I will take their opinion as being right over anyone else's.}

10 Mar 2016 12:04:05
Absolutely agree. We will win absolutely nothing with him as our keeper. Nice guy but not good enough for a club wanting to be consistently in top 4 and challenging for trophies. Doesn't remotely command his area, distribution is poor to terrible and has the tendency to throw the ball in his own net.

10 Mar 2016 12:15:05
Makes a costly mistake about every 3 games.
Wish him the best of luck at another club but our ambitions require a better keeper.

10 Mar 2016 13:18:45
He wouldn't make the bench in any team in the top 6 yet he's our number one. Agree every keeper makes mistakes but not every keeper gives the opposition a needless 1 goal headstart in every other game. You could make a 15 minute you tube video of his howlers this season alone. Don't even get me started on his distribution- may as well have Stevie wonder making clearances.

10 Mar 2016 15:06:06
I don`t know how many more mistakes Mingo has to make or points he has to lose for to get it through some people`s heads that he is an aweful GK. I`m frankly at my wits` end.

10 Mar 2016 15:13:21
don't be cruel to stevie wonder swish at least he produced the goods in his chosen profession mate.

10 Mar 2016 17:16:05
Take our opposing goalkeeper tonight. How many waves does he make to save his team points. If he was in goal against Man city I think it would of been a different outcome.

10 Mar 2016 17:44:12
Can almost guarantee Rooney will start every game with 1 of Kane, Vardy and Sturridge playing alongside/ coming off the bench.

10 Mar 2016 18:59:24
even now i have no confidence that mignolet is not going to commit a costly howler, Liverpool fc needs and deserves better.

10 Mar 2016 14:56:40
Can't think of any side who's had success over the last decade or two without a decent top keeper. Well maybe Man City, but that's about it.

10 Mar 2016 10:10:49
Today is the day lads everyone at anfield I want to have to turn my tv down its that loud! Young and old this is like a premiership match on acid and I want them blowing away like we did city I'm so excited only ten hours to go I'm like a kid at Christmas! If we start how I know we can start 3-0 firmino first goalscorer 85-1 on skybet ;)

10 Mar 2016 11:38:47
Is fromino in the europa squad? I hope we batter them they were poxy the last few games wits stupid goals after getting hammered for 90 mins.

10 Mar 2016 12:13:44
Wtf is Fromino?

{Ed001's Note - it is a new product from Domino's Pizza. It has fromage frais in it, hence the name.}

10 Mar 2016 12:33:07
Sorry was in the pizza shop 😂. New phone (screen too big) and struggling to use it one handed.

10 Mar 2016 14:36:59
I think you have just given firmino a new nickname, and one I intend to use along the following lines, what the fromino was that? nice one Ginja1995.

10 Mar 2016 06:58:26
Ed001 - penny for your thoughts on Goetze and whether he is worth £30 odd million for us? My sense is he may have hit the peak of his career and will struggle to reach the heights of 2-3 years ago. Therefore we'd be better served looking elsewhere.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen anything worth spending that much on, but I have not watched a lot of him. While he is not as injury prone as I assumed, he is usually injured when I have watched his teams, even when he has played he has not really done much. Those watches are very much spread out over the course of his career though, so it could be just I am catching him on bad days. Certainly Pep does not think he is up to much and has been very disappointed with him.}

10 Mar 2016 08:50:28
he could do well under klopp, but i am not sure where we would play him. he isn't exactly a winger and we need one winger. plus we have two players in coutinho and firmino that are like him albeit much better than him. although a 4 man attack of coutinho firmino and goetze with either of studge, ings or origi upfront sounds like a dream fifa team. but then again such a team would need a very strong core and defence to back them up. i'd have a look if we can manage to offload players . Also Pep is miffed with him so we wouldn't know better than him.

10 Mar 2016 08:54:20
Hes got 1 year left on his deal come the summer. No way will he be worth 30m plus.

10 Mar 2016 09:39:42
Never known where all the hype about Gotze came from. He scored the winning goal in the World Cup final, and put in some quality performances for Dortmund but he has always lacked consistency and his fitness record is not actually great. For 30 million, we could sign a quality young GK like Horn or Karius and a quality winger to add variety to our front line. Gotze is just another CAM we would be stockpiling on top of the excess that we already have. Not to mention some of the big hitters will be after him like Juve, Barca etc. Pointless addition imo and the club has more important issues to worry about than Gotze.

10 Mar 2016 10:27:49
Would Klop even want Grotze? If I remember correctly wasn´t he signed by Bayern like a week before Borutssia played them in the Champions League final and then he was "hurt" for the big game?

10 Mar 2016 10:36:55
Muller is always a player who caught my eye for Germany if we were to look at any German players. I know this isn't a realistic signing!

10 Mar 2016 10:39:58
If we can get Goetze then we should go for it. He is pure quality. We have lots of CAM's but none so good as him.

Don't dismiss him just because Guardiola hasn't given him regular playing time.

10 Mar 2016 10:48:36
Like a more effective Lallana, however, Lallana seems to be getting the message and looking for the early ball.

If Lallana was worth £25m then Götze is worth £30m but he's had a bit of injury trouble.

I'd rather see what Kloppo can get out of Lallana as he is improving and looking for the early ball. I'd only sign someone if they were a definite obvious improvement otherwise keep our powder dry.

10 Mar 2016 11:11:58
Gotze with a year on his contract isn't 30m. Maybe £18m? Upgrade on Lallana for sure.

10 Mar 2016 11:19:42
Let us just enjoy lallanas form and look in the summer if he needs to be replaced.

10 Mar 2016 11:41:35
I agree muller is a player i always liked just seemed to always be in the right place to nick a goal. He was a god for me on fifa too 30 yard screamers 😂.

10 Mar 2016 11:45:36
Lallana lacks quality, he is mid table level at best, we should improve any position that we can.
Winger should be our priority, last top class winger we had was Steve McManaman.

10 Mar 2016 12:17:57
I don't think Lallana lacks quality, he has a very good technique, he just lacks confidence and timing. His timing is improving, there's no guarantee Götze will be any better IMO.

10 Mar 2016 15:08:37
Goetze ain`t worth 30m on the last year on his deal. That is just hogwash and NO coach with a functioning brain will have his club pay that money for an injury prone player, athough talented. Nothing else to see here.

10 Mar 2016 16:36:00
I think he's one who is great for his national side, doing well in tournements etc, but bread and butter league he is average to above average. Certainly no world class superstar. I'd say he is one that does wonders in a side built to his skills but goes missing in those teams where he is just another player. He doesn't grab a game and win it, but is can get into a position to poach a win.

Overall not a £30mil player.

10 Mar 2016 06:27:34
This is the day your life all surely change. This is the day when things fall into place.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2016 00:44:20
I really do think we should sign jack butland as he is a very solid keeper and then we could offload mignolet but I'd prefer to sell him as the fans just don't seem to trust him at all especially not behind infringement of the net.

Believable2 Unbelievable12

10 Mar 2016 01:14:13
Who would buy Mignolet though? Besides Butland is close to signing a new deal with Stoke, as much as I see it as a high priority to replace him, and I would like Butland to fulfill that role, it's just not looking likely.

10 Mar 2016 01:35:13
Haha - I have read this post 3 times now and still can't make full sense of it!

10 Mar 2016 02:52:23
Dat substitute gk from mancity eho save oir penalties look good.

10 Mar 2016 06:06:23
united have de gea, chelsea have courtois, spurs have lloris and arsenal with cech. granted chelsea weren't really doing well bt these are the kind of keepers ud think would win you points over the course of the season.

quality keepers are what we need. if were going to buy a goalkeeper that just looks good on a couple of occasions, its no different than just staying with mignolet as no 1.

10 Mar 2016 08:28:16
Keeper situation is definitely a head scratcher. I was certain Mignolet would move on this summer possibly even the January gone, but he's been given a new deal. Whether this was to build his confidence I don't know (seems a costly move) . We do certainly need a second keeper even if it is to push him or play in place of him.

The only thing I can think of is the management have seen in training that there's a keeper there and they can improve his game, but I'm only surmising.

10 Mar 2016 06:24:55
We would be buying a GK to replace Bodgan and Ward. J can't see us buying someone to replace Migs.

10 Mar 2016 08:38:18
if i could spend i'd really try for lyon keeper anthony lopes. but that is because i watch mostly french ligue and have very little info about other leagues. But from what i have consistently watched anthony lopes is a top keeper. young too.

10 Mar 2016 10:27:49
I'm confident we will see a new No1 GK come in this Summer.
The new contract for Migs was nothing more than asset retention. He'd only have 12 months left this Summer and if we went out and signed a GK to replace him it's almost certain he'd have seen out his final year and we'd get nothing for him. This way if he's not happy to knuckle down and fight for his place at least we won't lose him for nothing. There's always a club willing to sign someone.

10 Mar 2016 10:58:02
i have heard good things about Mandanda of Marseille and he is out of contract in the summer. Could be worth our effort - and may very well be a considerable upgrade on Mignolet. Haven't seen any links so most likely it won't happen and as i haven't seen him play much myself i can't even be sure if he is that good. Anybody following french football who can give me a review?

10 Mar 2016 12:38:06
Still dissapointed that Ward isn't being given a chance.

10 Mar 2016 15:20:32
I don't rate butland tbh plus he would probably command a £20m price tag, I would take a goalkeeper from Germany as they have produced some wonderful young goalkeepers in recent years, we are today linked with timmo horn for £7m cheap enough and young enough to devolp his skills with us, that is of course if danny ward is not going to be given the chance to become our number 1.

09 Mar 2016 23:51:40
Can't wait for the game tonight, we're coming off a good few results, with a bit of revenge needed as well. I'd like to see the same back four as against city in the league, so basically no Moreno and flanno in. Flanno adds that steel, especially if martial is out wide, not sure how much he'll appreciate an early crunching like sterling.
I think it'll be hendo can, lallana firmino coutinho and Sturridge, especially with no Lucas or Milner. Hopefully we can press well, still not convinced on smalling, and while blind is a decent footballer, don't think he's a great defender, few costly errors he's made at the back.

I think we need to lay off hendo and can a bit, with no defensive cover for them, they can't really press as much as they normally would, injury or not for hendo, but in my opinion have got better at winning the ball back. I've noticed, can seems too have utilised his strength more, and they are always close together to support and win the second ball. While I agree that they should be able to create a little more, I feel if they win the ball back, and distribute well, we should be able to rely on firmino coutinho and a seemingly rejuvenated lallana to create for Sturridge and score themselves.

Firmino is proving his worth in all aspects, his finishing has picked up, he chooses his time to press so well, and isn't a shabby tackler, and coutinho has been a little off since coming back from injury, so it's about time the little magician produced a worldie. Sturridge adds that little burst of pace we perhaps missed in earlier parts of the season, but I feel it's more directness we lacked than sheer pace. They seem more confident now and hopefully that will come. They are all similar players in terms of link up play, so it could be fantastic or just silly flicks that nearly come off, or someone runs the wrong way. About time Sturridge scored too, he's had a couple games, time he found the right boots! Actually quite optimistic for this one, maybe 3-1/ 0 to us!

Believable5 Unbelievable7

10 Mar 2016 01:38:47
Flanno isn't in the europa league squad mate.

10 Mar 2016 01:39:52
As long as de Gea is in goal for them, we will find it hard to score. He is a consistently world class keeper, but he always seems to produces his absolute best against us. Unfortunately, we don't have the same thing down our end of the pitch.

10 Mar 2016 01:55:40
Flanno can't play. Was not selected for the Europa squad. But I agree with your premise that he might be a better match up for Martial.

10 Mar 2016 06:26:17
I believe UTD will sit and counter. They have pace on the flanks and they will exploit it.

10 Mar 2016 10:49:25
They can counter when they are 4-0 down 😄.
