It wasn't the greatest performance today, definitely played better [Mancs & City come to mind] but we'll take the 3 points & move onwards and upwards.

For me only the points matter and we got three. we absolutely dominated them at white hart lane and we lost nobody cared about our performance spurs fans were only talking about bale
Now they were the better team today but we won, that sounds fair to me

Nothing better than watching match of the day, when your team goes behind - yet you already know they win in the end. So much more relaxing and you can actually enjoy the football!

And nothing worse than coming home from Church to find the game you had set to record last night had failed to record. Not the first time either. Freaking telus.

10 Mar 2013 22:31:02
Ha, we are first on match of the day. out of two games. Still counts right?

10 Mar 2013 22:19:13
Great result today, momentum is everything at this stage of the season.
We can catch Spurs (Europa distraction) and Chelsea (FA Cup and Europa distraction) and Arsenal (running out of steam)

Credit to manager for recent results.

Wouldn't get too carried away- we were lucky to win.

Still a work in progress.

M

We have won twice this season when we haven't fully deserved it, spurs and west ham. How many times have we fully deserved to win and we have lost or drawn? Countless!!

Give the team some credit!

Supporters like you are the pits you're on the teams back win, lose or draw! Seriously life must be a barrel of laughs being your mate!

Good win yesterday and hopefully we'll go on a big winning run.

Luck and fortune are a big part of football. Ask Utd.

We keep getting told that Man United winning and not playing well is the sign of greatness!

The first time ever I have agreed with kid millions. I don't know why but I always seem to disagree with what he says. No offence fella prob a top bloke tho.

Hi eds and fans, I am soooooo proud and over the moon with this resilient performance today. The boys worked very hard today and reminded me of the old Liverpool that always came back from behind. Coutinho again inspirational, and our captain fantastic, last but not least Suuuuuarez. Really really job well done to BR for the substitutions which were spot on. Just a question for the ed please have you realised how quickly continuo tires what do you think is the reason?
Once again job well done.

Hibsylfc, Brendan said in an interview around the time of the Wigan game that he could only last ~65 minutes and that his fitness would improve.

Spuds have some tough fixtures coming up. Fulham home and Swansea away will be tricky enough followed up in April with Everton, Chelsea, man city and a rejuvenated Wigan away. Throw in the Potters away in May and there is more than a chance of 9 points dropped against these teams. With one eye on the Europa cup we need to keep winning and live in hope.

10 Mar 2013 21:58:16
I was watching the game on the telly, and sometimes the noise of the crowd is not reflected well. Was Anfield rocking like the Zenit game?

Not like zenit started off good and faded untill we scored spurs did a good job of quieting the crowd with good possesion play slowing it down subs changed the tempo in our favour which got us going again hope that helps

Was good fella

It is the bbc. wouldn't want them to open themselves to criticism of bias from the likes of Fergie would you?

10 Mar 2013 21:56:40
Broke my golden rule and decided to have a look at the Spurs page. Just a long list of how Suarez is a 'cheat', how they 'played us off the park' and how they 'deserved the win. '

Crashing back to Earth must really hurt for them after their inflated egos have been circling the stratosphere over the past 6 weeks. Glad it got slammed back down in Merseyside. Must say though, even though he's a lowdown thug, they've got a top player in Dembele.

Great game, great performance. Downing should look in the mirror and give himself a pat on the back, was a brilliant and determined effort today.

Not really. There are just as many if not more gracious post on there.

10 Mar 2013 21:56:39
people keep talking about 'scoring from mistakes'. I may be wrong but I think the majority of goals in football follow from an opponent's mistake

Puzzled

True my friend and you also have to take advantage of mistakes to make it count, our second and third goals are prime examples of this. Liverpool deserve credit for that.

The A man.

Did anyone see AVB post match interview. Fair play to him, no crying or moaning and just took it on the chin. You have to respect someone after that.

10 Mar 2013 21:49:42
Just thought I'd give my opinion on todays game. I thought first half our front 3 were formidable. I thought BR got the team right and made the subs perfectly. I thought Dembele ran the show for Spurs, not Bale. His feet are something else. I think we are lacking a big strong CB. Agger & Carra played well today, won loads,, but we are vulnerable from set pieces. I think Bale was given too much protection by the ref. I thought Gerrards header when he beat Bale, was fantastic, but ref gave a free kick, and they ultimately scored from it. Overall it was a great Liverpool performance, defo a peno, heart and determination along with some sensational football. We have been playing well against the 'lesser' teams, so the future looks good. 3 points against southampton on saturday is vital to continue to build momentum. YNWA

Yea I can't believe the commentators were calling the pen a controversial decision. that was a penalty all day.

As indeed where the two other shoults for panties against Johnson and Sturrudge - both of which were nailed on in my book

10 Mar 2013 21:49:17
Great win today. One game at a time. Have to say though, BR has really got to buy well in the summer! We are so soft at the back. Say what you want but we need 2 top quality CB's, a top quality CM and a top quality CF. Add to that a GK if Riena goes. We MUST buy well! Onwards and upwards!

Mr T

Is this your nickname joe allen you sure pass like it well played when you come on today though

10 Mar 2013 21:46:23
Wat a result today.
What was all that about with dembele and Suarez at the end.? To be fair to the lad we need a player like him in our team.
Gaz b

Well it was building up to that all game!

10 Mar 2013 21:45:19
To me, Brendan Rodgers has showed a really high learning curve and a fast developing maturity over the season. The team is playing better since a few months simply because he's adapted the plan to suit the players he has, and stopped making the players play what they couldn't (ie. , "tiki taka" - anyone else notice we don't read the words "tiki taka" on here that often anymore?). I think he still believes in possession football, so I think he'll try to bring in more players adaptable to that style in the summer. The key is an "anchor" type player in the middle, to play the Allen role but with more toughness, physical presence and creativity (ie. Pirlo, Xavi, Makelele, Alonso, Fabregas, Vieira ).

So Gerard isn't in that mould then?

Pirlo, Xavi and Fabregas toughness?

Gerrard has played Alonso role almost all season. Saw an interesting article on his stats this season versus his supposedly best season with Torres. Nowhere near as many goals (playing much deeper) but every other stat is better this season pretty much.

10 Mar 2013 21:43:05
i don't think we played better the spurs but it is about time we got a win when we played bad at times in the game when we played them off the park at their ground and still got beat or man u at home about time we got some luck

10 Mar 2013 21:42:24
good win today

coming from behind and holding out for the win

10 Mar 2013 21:39:58
Would just like to congratulate you on your win against Spurs. You really did us a favour. Your team is looking very strong now and you could be a real force next season with afew additions.

Detroit Gooner

Nice comment but you should really concentrate on yourselves as were now only two points behind you with that win you might not even make europe at all hotting up now though what a league this is so competative

No need for that poster ^
Nice to see other other teams fans like Detroit Gooner posting on our page in a friendly manner! [FR]

10 Mar 2013 21:38:10
What a fantastic performance today grinding out a great win, let's take each remaining game one at a time and focus on continuing this great run we are on at the moment. This season will definitely be an improvement on last season. BR is taking the team in the right direction

10 Mar 2013 21:07:24
Am hearing some terrible rumours that all is not well in the Reina household!
Apparently SparkytheWonderDog nipped Pepe's hand this morning in a set-to over their Summer travels, and put him out of the match.
Can you enlighten us further ed?

10 Mar 2013 21:50:17
would have loved to see a Ince-Suarez-Coutinhno up front today-

10 Mar 2013 23:00:30
Nowt wrong with Downing or Sturridge, imo.

Er. Have I missed a joke in this? You did see clowning score didn't you?

Would ince really be an improvement on a downing who looks likehe is finally settling and starting to play good football

we need better than ince

Why!?? Downing was class again and sturridge not match fit but still scares defenders with his pace

10 Mar 2013 21:26:43
Anyone know what was up with Dembele at the end of the game-having to be pulled away from going for Suarez? Thought he was there best player to be honest, but he let himself down with that nonsense. Is he that much of a sore loser?

Suarez really got to them the last 15 mins lost all composure and let us back in brilliant

10 Mar 2013 21:23:23
It may take me a week to thaw out after the icy blast in and around Anfield this afternoon, and I may have to stick an extra duvet on and a pair of bed socks, but the effort was more than worth it. Liverpool's first goal was another master-piece and another step on the road to Luis Suarez being crowned the best player in the league as well as being awarded the golden boot. Spurs fought back well though, with the assistance of rather cloudy refereeing, plus a wobbly Liverpool defence, but following the timely introduction of Joe Allen, Liverpool were able to win more possession again and really put some pressure on Spurs. Stewart Downing's improving form and confidence were again very much in evidence, as was Stephen Gerrard's class. Philippe Coutinho looks an increasingly astute piece of business, while Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez continue to link well. All in all, a very good win against the Spurs side I've seen for a long time was just the tonic my frozen extremities required. Now, where did I put my ovaltine?

Didnt manage to catch the game today.
But I'm so made up Suarez scored and bale didn't today.
I know Suarez has his critics but I really can't stand bale. At least Suarez is a bit more humble.
I wonder how many critics will still insist bale is better than Suarez by the end of this season?
Suarez has been the best player in England this year. Bale is a great player on really good form right now. RVP also. But Suarez has been outstanding in all but one or two games, and even then he still gave 100%. You can't say that about anyone else.

MIKEY

Well said, totally agree

Delighted with the win today, thought we showed a bit of grit and determination even though we didn't play particularly well at times.

We still have a tendency to sit back when we go in front especially against quality opposition. In the first 20 mins of the second half this was really evident and I thought it was game over as we let them dictate the game by sitting off the midfield.

Once our second goal went in, the players mentality changed and we pressed and hastled Spurs (as we did early on in the game) forcing them to play the early / urgent ball, hence not letting them play their passing game.

Attack is the best form of defence and when we press and force the opposition into making mistakes, we have the dangermen to capitilise. To me, this is one of our main strengths.

Anyway, take nothing away, a top win against a good Spurs side in from. I'm really glad we won a game without playing our best, a comment BR mentioned in hid post match interview.

Showed real heart today, great win!

10 Mar 2013 21:09:59
Great win today against a very good spurs team. Suarez simply amazing again. His attitude and will to win is unbelievable. 40/1 I read in the paper today that he gets PFA player of the year which is an absolute joke. For me it's not even close he should walk it by a mile however we all know its going to the media darlings RVP or BALE. Back to the game my main concern is our defending from set pieces. I was a bag of nerves every time the ball came into our box we desperately need a big dominating centre back in the summer (a clone of Sami Hypia would be perfect). Well done reds keep it up.
LIVERLAD

He is only 5/1 - don't unsderstand how bale is favourite, he was annoymous at the start of the season and RVP? not got a clue how he is ahead of suarez in the runnings. Looks like we will have to wait and see what happens in the last 9 games, maybe Andy Carrol will score 15 goals and win it haha

Carragher is a quality defender and has been throughout his career. Skrtel too is a quality defender who usually is pretty good at getting his head to the ball to clear those dangerous crosses. I felt that he would have helped the defence today.
Don't forget he was our player of the season last year. I hope he finds his form again because when Carragher retires he could still do the job for us.

I think that the votes for player of the year is done about now so the performance in the last 9 games will not count, there is only one winner for me. ray. 3037

10 Mar 2013 21:09:57
Don't want to get carried away but I honestly belive were on the verge of something great. Can't wait to see who we add to the squad in the summer. We have the nucleus of of a very good team, few additions and we'll be back up the top of the table again.

10 Mar 2013 21:08:06
That Ray Wilkins talks some rubbish, Spurs will be wondering how they didn't win? They played well but if the ref had spotted the penalty when Couthino was pulled back in the box and the challenge on Johnson and there was another foul on Sturridge that if he hadnt made a meal of it we might have got the game wouldn't have even been close. Anytime someone breathed heavily on Bale he fell over, free kick straight away but it seemed to be open season on Suarez. Amazed he eventually gave us something.

I no mate I got up to get a drink and accidently cliped my Tv with my elbow and bale fell over

10 Mar 2013 21:03:38
I think we played brilliantly throughout. We are really needing they class player off the bench we were starved of solid option off the bench

10 Mar 2013 21:00:04
Didn't play great, but still won, that's all that matters. were playing some great football and scoring goals for fun, once we sort our defence we'll be a force next season. with carra retiring, skrtel and coates on there way out, it's massively important we get the right defensive personal in, to cover the vast experience were about to lose.

10 Mar 2013 20:56:23
Great victory today. Made up with the 3 points.
I do however have one real concern.
Sturridge. He doesn't celebrate when we score, especially when Suarez scores, he also looks like he is unhappy. I really hope not as I think the lad is great.
Hope he is not trying to be a Ballotelli.

What do you think??

ltp

Maybe he likes to wait until the final whistle to celebrate after what happened at City

Sturridge is really really greedy! He wants the goals himself as most strikers do. It's not always a bad thing though.

What are you chatting?

10 Mar 2013 22:33:44
He was probably annoyed at himself as he didn't play his best game ever. He said in an interview that he gets upset if he isn't playing well and not scoring. Hopefully BR will work with him to prevent this becoming 'sulking'

10 Mar 2013 22:34:22
Don't know about you, but I seem to remember Sturridge being one of the first over to Suarez when he was celebrating. Anyone else see that?

Did you not see him when gerrard scored the penalty? Was going bananas!

10 Mar 2013 20:50:30
All this we had a bit of luck business is true but it's about time isn't it? When we played Spurs at the lane they were extremely lucky to beat us, so I guess we've earned a bit of luck.
Jud.

10 Mar 2013 20:44:40
Hope we are getting for top four! We should fight our asses off in the rest of the season. Pretty easy matches from now on. Please you reds. Make us proud! Be legends

10 Mar 2013 20:43:06
Ed001, what is your opinion on the game today?

Dan. {Ed001's Note - I was very pleased with the performance, Lucas shut down Bale and everyone contributed to a team performance. Their goals came from play acting by Bale, but we should have done better defending the balls in. That is still an issue with us. Other than that, we did very well, though Spurs clearly missed Lennon, that made a huge difference to their play and helped us no end. Still, you can only beat what is in front of you, and Spurs are an excellent side, far from being Bale and ten others, so I was pleased we got the result we deserved.}

Thanks Ed, that was a nice review. I felt it was a great game, lot's of heart. The first goal in particular urked me with Bale coming back on to the pitch (after going off to a "foul") only to cross it in for the goal, but all in all very pleased!

Dan.

10 Mar 2013 20:42:44
Very happy with the result today. Spurs are a good side and it was never going to be easy.

Can I say what a gentleman AVB was in his post match interview. He told it as it was, no histrionics, no moaning about the penalty. He has gone up a lot in my estimation.

Let's hope that Liverpool and Spurs can emerge as genuine title contenders in the coming years and we can witness many more exciting games between both sides.

redmersey

Well said mate.

10 Mar 2013 20:41:56
Good win today nd I thought we deserved bit of luck. Bale s second free kick was soft nd he seemed to be holding his face nd replys clearly showed lucas never touched his face. I still remember all tv live text before game was all about how Liverpool going to stop Bale nd very much written off Liverpool nd suarez showed them mirror. as a team we are shaping well nd its case of taking each match as cup final nd forget about CL position nd just look after results nd rewards will follow. happy nd delighted with win. let's carry on momentum.

Harry Oldbury

Completely agree! Lucas' hand barely brushes his shoulder and he goes down holding his face like Tyson punched him?! Blatant diving and cheating the entire game from him, esp for their two goals - which to be fair, we should have dealt with better.

Is it weird I would still love to see Bale in a Liverpool shirt though? Straight swap for Downing perhaps lol

10 Mar 2013 20:40:55
Like I said support you team to the max. Jones wasn't at fault for the goals he did really well. Very happy with the result. We can beat sides above us now!! We are on the up big style. Never give up it's brill.

Hey ed (s)

Just a question on this KRISTIAN POLGAR we are apparently signing what do u know about him?

ACHILLES. {Ed001's Note - not a thing, sorry.}

10 Mar 2013 20:31:58
Great win today redmen. Flicked over after the game to watch Chelsea absolutely batter Manchester United for the last 20 mins. How they didn't put the game to bed I'll never know. But don't know if anyone saw the incident with Rio 'the Muppet' Ferdinand standing on Torres. As usual ITV decided to totally ignore this at the end. Doesn't surprise me, but I couldn't help thinking, if that was Suarez?. well we all know he'd probably be on another 8 game ban now. No doubt the FA will do precisely that. FA as usual. A bit like UEFA this past week with his clapping the ref. I know I shouldn't get all worked up, he's hardly worth it. But just how does he manage to get away with it. (The lack of footballing talent I'm on about!)

10 Mar 2013 20:28:48
has been along time since my last post. this is the best football we have played since evans was manager. I hope today was the start of a good run to the end of the season. If not let's give rodgers the time ame and space to build his team as anyone can see his philosophy is working

Totally agree, we are the most free scoring since Fowler, Collymore and McMannaman era.
Long may it continue.

Just seen David Moyes in Wilkinsons, St. Johns Centre, earlier this afternoon at the customer service counter. seems he was wanting a refund on a can of silvo he bought last week. he did look quite pi**ed off. i'm guessing he's not got any silverware to polish after yesterday.

LOOOOOOOOL! :)

10 Mar 2013 20:20:18
Best game of our season so far! We can always rely on captain fantastic! Today we seen something that we haven't had for ages. LUCK! Very happy day!

10 Mar 2013 20:15:45
with had some luck over the season, and when we seem to not be at best we lose and in the games we don't play well some times I think we feel sorry for are selfs, but today we did not, carry on, got bit ov luck and bang we got the 3 points, and thought downing worked hard today and used his head, not his biggest fan but last 2 months his started to win me over, one thing I did pick up on was DS couple ov times when the ball was still there to be won and chased he stopped to moan at not getting passed to, hope BR picks up on that, make him put that little bit more focus into his game, noy digging him out just think he could have done a bit more, happy with him playing just hope he can keep the hungry I seen in him since he joined us, glad that there is a lot happier camp on here . ynwa lfc linc

Sites gone very quiet? mmm Dancing on ice is on:-)

10 Mar 2013 21:03:11
Don't worry, it's just that some of the guys can't think of anything to moan about/all the spurs fans have fecked off.

:p

10 Mar 2013 19:59:53
Lucas worst game since his first season. Cannot make a pass

Behave. .

He managed to keep Bale quiet for 85 mins, which was his main job, so overall not a bad performance, but not a good one either. Maybe a 6/10 performance.

Why disagree? The stats speaks for itselves

Lucas and Gerrard stopped Bale. And if Lucus had a bad game that wouldn't of been the case!

Lars bender in summer to challenge lucas for his position

Watta game for us. but very sloppy defending. we need to replace enrique with sum1 wid better defending quality. nd johnson was very poor. we should stick to 4 4 3 and play tiki taka
Mr. iceman

So you wanna play 443 guess well get stuffed big time with no keeper

10 Mar 2013 20:35:29
4-4-3???. are u sure??/

10 Mar 2013 20:37:40
I never rated enrique but watchin him this season I really do now and wouldn't want us to get rid of him he's quick strong and good going forward makes a killer pass over the top for suarez and has done on many occasions. If anything its johnson that needs replacing if he could defend, and stay on his feet, them two goals tottenham scored today could of been prevented.

ACHILLES.

4-4-3 is a bit risky mate.

If we could get away with 4-4-3 I would go with it.

The Irish Rover

Yeah we should win every game if we start playing 4 4 3. Lol

MIKEY

Thats a new formation, playing without a keeper!

Stuart downing had Great game today really worked his sox off,, allen did really well when he came on
Felt sturridge was not sharp enuf to start today looked lost at times coutinho was brilliant and carragher kept defoe in his pocket

Yes we got bit of luck and about time we got bit of luck
Lets push on til end of seoson well done lads

Did Defoe play today? Didn't even notice him

He played Suarez in for the penalty.

10 Mar 2013 19:53:29
Was a much needed 3 points today and to beat Tottenham in there current form was great, this second half of the season we have shown that we will be up there next season! bring on the remainding games!

10 Mar 2013 19:52:14
pundits talking about spurs mistakes which gave us our goals if that's the case they got two goals from our mistakes joke mick dublin

They got 2 goals from the refs mistakes not ours.

Spurs goals were both scored by a defender, the sort of goals that Stoke score to be honest and just the type we struggle against.

10 Mar 2013 19:45:49
we won like Manchester United have done for years. play shi-te and win. they don't worry about how they win why should we.

Currently on 45 pts having scored 56 and conceded 36.
If we finish with more than 63 pts and score more than 61 goals and concede less than 44 we will have done better than our last 3 seasons since we finished 2nd last, and that fellas is progress

Well said lad, sign 2 pacey dominant in the air center defenders and a quality DM?
what you think ali g?

Lets win the rest except one, Then we can't use statistics. But excellent point mate

We defended better in the last 10 minutes than we did the entire game.
Our players were so organised, composed and assured,,, it was lovely seeing us being so solid.
Joe Allen was the most assured of the lot, he especially played well under pressure (most of the time).
A real 'Horrorshow' performance that was.

Must say I half-expected Downing to miss that 1.

Yeah-if anything he had too much time!

I fully expected downing to miss that, but that's what I have been wanting from him, taking responsibility and getting it right.

10 Mar 2013 19:41:25
Absolutely delighted with that win even if we didn't play as well as we can we got a bit of luck.

Gerrard was excellent and Suarez was a nuisance all game but I must say and iv been a big critic of his but Downing really showed up today. He showed real Desire and hunger to make things happen. People can say a mistake led to the goal but Downing did everything right to get us back in it with a fantastic finish and for me was his best performance and most influential.

Lets push on from this and bring on Southampton.

Bulmer

I like southampton

wont be an easy game, they play good football at home

and lambert will cause us problems aerially

hoping for a win but expecting a draw

10 Mar 2013 19:33:43
If I was a player on this site I would never come on after a loss, I'd probably become depressed ater reading a few posts telling me I belong in league 2 or should never put on the shirt again. Some of the player and manager bashing at half time was ridiculous, imagine what some people would at half time during istanbul!

On a high note well done to the lads for grinding out the result and changing the game around also well done to rodgers for the tactics they were spot on. Also for those putting the win down to 'luck' sometimes luck can win a title.

Id buy Juan Jesus from Inter and Turan/Mertens/Carillo

10 Mar 2013 19:43:36
carillo from sporting? ye I rate him.

Take it you didn't see the spurs match howeve the other 3 would be great additions to the team.

Lil ed jesus is a cb. hewasplayedout of position as a left back against spurs

I know he's a centre back but I've seen him at the u20 world cup and in other inter matches and he isn't too convincing, a bit error prone.

absolutely buzzed we have a team of winners now who want to play for the club! something we haven't had in a while :) we actually won a game with abit of luck and to be honest we didn't even play well and we won :) when BR brought allen on I was screaming at the tv after him saying that he wasnt fit and needed surgery and I didn't really see him changing the game however he really did make the difference when it came to moving the ball on quickly yeah he misplaced a couple of passes but he changes the tempo of the game and everyone else seems to liven up abit! overall i'm a happy red again this is becoming a habit YNWA

hi eds hope all is well. more of a question but does shelvey have a future at the club as I thought he was seen as a future prospect etc. an answer would be much appreciated.

ben {Ed002's Note - There has been general interest shown by Stoke but there is nothing on the cards right now.}

10 Mar 2013 19:45:18
Best thing for Shelvey's development next season would be a loan move, imo.

As things stand, he's behind Gerrard, Coutinho, Downing & Suarez for a first team place as an attacking midfielder and Hendo & Allen are ahead of him as backup. And we'll probably strengthen in the summer too. So he'll be scrapping for a few games here and there. That'd be an acceptable role for someone a couple of years younger who you don't want playing every week, like Suso or Sterling, but Shelvey could do with playing regularly.

Hope he doesn't go to stoke because he needs to imporve his tackling not make it even worse!

Hi guys, great site just had an important question for all LFC fancs about the Europa Lge 2013/14. If Liverpool finish sixth this season which looks highly likely, do we get a Europa Lge place or does it go to the potential FA cup runners up Wigan/Blackburn now the draw has been made? I was really hoping two of the top four would play in the FA CUP final which would have guaranteed sixth place European football so what's the situation? {Ed002's Note - It goes to the FA Cup winners or to sixth if they are already qualified.}

How did stoke make it into the europa lge in 2011 when they lost the final to man city and finished mid table in the league then Ed? {Ed002's Note - Sorry - it goes to teh FA Cup runners up but not the League Cup runners up.}

Thought it went to the runners up in the cup if before it goes to 6th?

That's why I messaged you earlier 02! So that means we need to finish 5th or hope for a Fair Play Europa spot - anyone know how likely the latter is?

10 Mar 2013 19:06:03
Think Spurs are the best side we've played this season, we did really well to get the 3 points, we weren't at our best but the spirit and never say die attitude is there for all to see. Suarez is racking up his tremendous goals portfollio:-)
Really Happy! 9 games to go, who knows?

I'd agree about Spurs kid. They controlled the game at 2-1 and should have seen it out. I think we can match them over 38 games next season with a couple of defensive additions though. That said if they get a prolific striker and keep their best players they'll continue to improve.

10 Mar 2013 18:59:43
What a signing coutinho is! Changed the whole dynamics of the team, can't wait to see who we bring in throughout the summer. Anyways not a great performance but we deserved that win, mistakes from both teams but we had 3/4 penno decisions that could of easily gone our way, nice to see constant pressing throughout trying to win the ball back, all in all a massive 3 points.

£9m or so for Coutinho is looking like a decent bit of business.

He keeps it up for the rest of this season and into the next and it'll look like daylight robbery.

I like the way he's quite bit tougher than what he looks and is always willing to put a good shift in and track back to help out.
Think with his ability he can only get better as he's gets older and physically stronger.

If we get another Coutinho on the right side in the summer, we'll do the whole prem next season.

10 Mar 2013 18:55:03
I think we're getting a bit carried away.
We were in total control until we scored and then we took our foot off the pedal and let them back in to the game.
Just like we did against United.
They got two goals and
we were super lucky not concede when Sigurdsson hit the post.
We totally lost our shape and had not been for Walker's mistake we'd have lost this game.
I don't want to be negative because after that mistake we seized on it and then steamrollered Tottenham.
It just worries me that when we get our noses in front of teams who are above us we start to sit back and try and protect that lead rather than going on doing what we did to Wigan last weekend.
Anyway, hopefully now we have beaten a team above us it will give us more confidence against the others.
GET IN!
Come on Champions League!
YNWA

Also, it worries me that Sturridge never celebrates when Suarez scroes. Has anyone else noticed this?

Spuds did today what we have done all season. Played well, but costly individual errors lost them the game.

How about Rodgers changed the game by bringing on Allen. He stopped us getting over run in the midfield as Spurs upped the tempo in the 2nd half and we came out like the players had eaten space cakes.

s. p

Wait a min where are you when we basically did the same for man c twice?

Not to mention the fact in that game we could of had 3 penalties!

London red

Yeah Flidby I have noticed this every game they've played together. They both often shoot instead of passing to each other - which isn't necessarily always a bad thing - but seem to get quite annoyed at each other and never celebrate together. Maybe we are reading to much into it and when the other one scores they're just annoyed that they didn't score themselves because that is the type of player they both are - both desperate to always be on the score sheet!

S. p

From where I was sitting I thought Rodgers should have made a change ten minutes prior. The game had started to become very open which suited Tottenham's more mobile midfield and in truth we looked very vulnerable.

Coutinho looked the obvious replacement as he was starting to thread water (not his fault, simply not match fit, and certainly not Premier League pace fit).

I'll be the first to admit that Allen is yet to win me over but he did dig in and did his part today, the lack of midfield mobility and to a degree strength does worry me about our squad, and Stevie will be another year older next season.

Overall a great result, however if I take my totally biased red goggles off then I would say that we got a little lucky, and lucky at critical times, we always seem to get punished when we make mistakes, however today Tottenham afforded us a couple of mistakes and we took full advantage.

As an aside, I have also noticed that Sturridge seems pretty muted in celebrating Luis' goals, hopefully it's just his way and nothing more then that. sometimes as fans we read something out of nothing.

10 Mar 2013 21:47:39
Don't worry boys I think I saw on one of the highlights that sturridge did run over to celebrate

Cant believe people are getting on Sturridge's back already!
He has been back for 1 game.
Everyone has short memories. If Sturridge hated Suarez then he would not have dummied the ball through his legs a few weeks ago to allow Suarez to score. I also want my players to have a moan at each other if things are going to plan as it shows they care.
Thought we were a bit lucky today and spurs are a quality side but we are a "new" team whereas spurs are the finished article and I thought we matched them in spells.
I also thought the period after we scored and for the first 15 mins of the second half was the best any away side has played at Anfield all season. And we still beat them! Hope springs eternal!

10 Mar 2013 18:55:02
Just thought I'd pop in to say what a top buy Coutinho was. Will be up with the top AM's in the world if he stays fit. Good to finally see the spuds one-man band bested and looking forward to playing you at Anfield later this year, Mata; Oscar and Hazard vs. Coutinho; Gerrard and Suarez will be a great battle. Hope to see you in EL spot this year and looking forward to an open top 4 challenge next season.
Well played lads and yes, as I always said Suarez is better than Bale, RVP, Aguero and Silva. Mata in my opinion is the only one slightly near him and Suarez is still better in several aspects.
CFCFOREVER!
P. S: Do you still want Downing out?

Dont think Spurs are a one man team, they have 3/4 players who could get into our team, no problem, having said that, we have Suarez, maybe best player in the prem, so its looking much better for us, and we should put in a really good finish.
redforever

Among many things Downing's work rate is one of the main reasons players like Coutinho, Suarez & Sturridge get to express themselves.
Many aspects have seen LFC improve as the season has gone on but the win % is definitely higher since Downing was brought back into the team. 7 goals and 7 assists this year now. Valencia at Manchester United has 7 assists and no goals, don't hear their fans wanting him out at Old Trafford.
He was great today, fair play to the lad.

Great win really, happy, hoping for a 5th place or better finish this year. Suarez goal was class. I just don't have to much confidence in our defense. Hopefully Rodgers finds some defenders in the summer.

10 Mar 2013 18:41:43
Arsenal ATM are struggling and if we win many of the remaining games it could be a real fight for the Champions league place especially with Chelsea struggling against QPR, Reading and Newcastle.

I'm not being unrealistic because in football anything can happen.

10 Mar 2013 18:38:00

10 Mar 2013 18:35:49
Rodgers got it spot on today. We started of on the front foot but you could see coming towards half time that we were losing possesion and being over run in midfield. He done the right thing in putting another midfielder on, yet we had a massive stroke of luck to get back in the game. Who's complaining? Its long overdue and pinpoint accuracy from Downing to put it thru the defenders legs on the line. Great technique! A superb all round team performance and a big boost going into the last lot of games and we are above Everton! Happy days!

10 Mar 2013 18:33:32
Sometimes it doesn't matter about possession and more shots. Now and again you just need to grind out the result. Especially against top sides like Spurs.

It's also good to hear the team are taking it game by game rather than looking too far ahead.

One thing I would like to say to every Liverpool fan is that we need to stop all this bickering between each other on these pages, calling each other 'Persons', 'Fickle' etc. We need to stop slating the team and start backing the team no matter what the result is. If someone comes on here looking for an argument, leave them to it. Don't lower yourself to their level.

Good result again today. I think we can all see the progress under BR and we can only get better.

10 Mar 2013 18:32:31
Everton and Chelsea games are the big ones, both at home.

Next big game is against the Saints.
Its pointless looking beyound that.

Although I do it myself tbh mate.

Shmickles

Newcastle away will be a tough one, they are very hard to beat there right now, think we will beat everton.
redforever

Incorrect, every game is of equal importance in my opinion. Although everton and chelsea are rivals, you don't get more points in beating them. Every game you must be focused.

El Pi**edolero

No point looking that far ahead. We have a solid week to prepare for every game and a pretty clean bill of health on the injury front so we should be in good shape for the last 9 games. Don't forget we've had a habit of losing lots of points to teams that eventually get relegated so Soton, Villa and Reading won't be easy games.

I know we were at home, but what a result that was.
Theyve been on fire the last 6 weeks, and it took r boys to stop them.

Next weeks fixtures could be in our favour as well.
Everton vs city
Swansea vs arsenal

Hope the domestic and european cups take it out on the rest of them.

10 Mar 2013 18:26:31
Great Win today. Let's take each game as it comes and see where we end up.

10 Mar 2013 18:24:27
What a game, it's about time the teams against us made mistakes rather then us throwing it away! Overall it's was a good performance.

One thing I like tactically about us is the shift our wingers put in, BR has got them to not only dangerous going but they work hard as hell tracking back! Coutinho's determination is brilliant!

Great game going forward, we always looked dangerous but Sturridge looked of the boil abit, maybe coming back from an injury affected this but he still managed to put in a good game. The link up for our first goal, wow. Luis fought hard out there, while looking dangerous and the wingers.

Lucas had a solid game defensively, but not so good with his passing, on the other hand he threw himself about and stopped a lot of attacks. On the other hand, Stevie I read won 100% of his challenges, and made 3 interceptions, while he also was spraying passes all over dictating the tempo, he's still got it.

We need serious work on defending set pieces though, I crap myself every time a ball is launched into the box. We need someone who is not good but GREAT in the air. I think Jones is ok for a sub Keeper, not really sure on some of his saves, quite comical some of them, he just keeps them out anyway he can and fair play to the lad, never backs down.

I think the substition of bringing Allen on was actually a good one, we saw much more of the ball and we slowed spurs down a lot by keeping a bit more of the ball and then us going for it. Overall, good performance, quite bored ;)

After watching him play since he came over in January, I always thought Sturridge had a languid flowing style, reminding me of some of the great Brazilians. But I also get this creeping feeling that he is actually a little lazy too. Watching Suarez running like mad trying to close defenders down, and then Sturridge strolling slowly towards a defender is really not helping the midfield. Of course, he's scored some crucial goals, holds up the ball, has blistering speed and the team is much better with him than without him. I wish he'd work on defense and shutting defenders down.

Sorry, forgot sign off on the reply

10 Mar 2013 18:22:28
Huge win, probably the toughest we have left, so every game is a cup final from now on, the belief is getting there and we didn't give in. Well played lads!

After that win Rodgers is going to be out of pocket rewarding lads.

good win and good 3 points.

todays game showed us some points.

1. we should play 3 in midfield. lucas gerrard and hendo/ allen.

2. luis suarez is excellent up front all alone.

I would have kept sturridge in bench and retained the same starting 11.

every team wins only if keep a good possession.
and that happens when you win the midfield.

neither lucas nor gerrard pushed upfront. untill allen came in.

all the best. for the next game

Gotta say I have been one of Stewart downing biggest critics, he's always worked hard but was never shore the quality was there but today he did not look out of place in a red shirt credit to him for taking the criticism on the chin and turning it around, has been brilliant in the second half of the season

Well done lads and BR great effort three points is a bonus

10 Mar 2013 18:15:01
What a game that was. I was in my mates car listening to the first half then got back just in time for the second half. i'm so glad that I did. All my mates keep saying Liverpool are this that and the other, even though we are one of the strongest teams in the league with such a young squad of players. when we went 2-1 down I knew there was going to be a momentum shift and that a mistake would be the only way to bring this one back (pen or OG). All the players gave it their all, sturridge didn't have his best game though but still put in a shift. What an inspiration carragher is, he has definitly still got it. I used to base my defencive dueties for my team around carragher because he was exactly what a defender should be. Gerrard played some sublime balls out of nothing and I wonder how we are going to go aboutn replacing the best player to ever grace the Liverpool shirt. I have not got enough words to praise the team today. It was exactly what we all thought it would be and we knew we where always going to leak a few goals. we just needed to outscore them and we did. Arguebly the most in-form team got beaten by the new in-form team. I said after going out of europa that there should be no excuses for the league, and there haven't been. All the fans need to understand we where always going to have a rocky season because lfc hasn't been stable since benitez left, change in ownership, change in managers & staff and especially players. It look now that we can finally stabalise everything and build the football team LFC is supposed to be. This summer will be such an important period because january was awesome for us. reality is we are not going to finish 4th but we will fight for it. I know its negative but its reality, a 5th or 6th place finish would be such an achievement especially with the team that started the season. LFC makes me angry, frustrated, neglectful, joyful, exstatic, tearful, and for that I love you. My life would suck without this football team. :)

The last two lines of the post just totally echo my feelings! Thanks for giving them words on my behalf, unnamed poster :) And without LFC, well, life just wouldn't be the same!

Immense! Massive 3 points for the Pool.

I said it yesterday and few agreed so much hinged on this game.

For the first time in long time the Team BELIEVED!

Yes were still missing a few palyers and certain times there was luck involved today but everybody needs bit luck.

I think this will cement with Suarez that we are good enough to compete. the passion he has for this club is unbelievable. World world Class. Take this belief and winning mentality into last few games.

Come on you red men. PS Stevie immense in midfield. Icon.

And fair play to Downing gives us width and drive and the hunger is back in his eyes. you can see it. We would be foolish to ship him on in the summer. Excellent player to have in the squad.

Roll on Southampton next week.

Is anybody going to be man enough to recognise the massive positive diffence Joe Allen made to that game?

Didn't make a difference, we where lucky with the goal and it gave the players a kick up the arse to go on and win. Allen the human crab

As one of his biggest critics I will be man enough and say that his introduction changed the game, helped us get a foot hold in midfield and ultimately contributed to the positive result. Taking Coutinho off so we had 3 midfielders made the difference.

Well allen played well when he come on and well done to rodgers for bringing him on and changing the momentum of the game as spurs were on top!

You were saying?

Maybe because Coutinho was being overpowered and the midfield looked short.

Just reply to puzzle red coments bringing off coultino had to b done spurs were runnin the midfield needed another midfielder to stop there mid dominating u dnt no a lot about footy mate plus coultino not match fit and new to the pace of the prem that change worked so give head a wobble

I'm sorry but how is taking Coutinho off - arguably been our best player so far this game - and putting on someone who is struggling for form, and also has a shoulder injury? I'm no contender as next manager, but that decision is beyond me!

You haven't a clue about the game then, because he was switching Suarez over to prevent walker getting forward. I thought he'd bring on Hendo tho.

We were losing the midfield, and bringing on joe allen, and moving Suarez over to the left, changed the pattern of the game, yes we need to improve, but what a big 3 points, and we have just beaten a very good team, well done Liverpool.

we need some top draw defenders and we need them to have pace!

HAHA disagree to what are the facts! Come on lads it is a fact that we do need better defenders and in todays game pace is needed.

No I disagree we need a larry Lloyd or sammy hypia just someone who can win a ball in the a strong no nonsense centre half

Michael Oliver, must be on Fergies Summer transfer wish list. not given us a bloody thing all game!

Great goal from Suarez but our defence is seriously 'dodgy'! Carra is a club legend but he is doing the right thing retiring at the end of the season.

We are being run in midfield, if rodgers doesn't change quickly then spurs will score.

10 Mar 2013 16:47:48
02 correct me if I'm wrong but will 6th place in the league be good enough for a Europa League spot only if Manchester City play either Chelsea or United in the FA Cup Final? (assuming these teams finish top 5 at the end of the season).
If that is the case, I think we should all watch the semi final draw and hope these teams are drawn apart! {Ed002's Note - It depends on who wins - nothing to do with the loser.}

Ed's with the daily express stating Chelsea would accept 35 million less what they paid for Torres don't you think that its worth a 15 million punt to bring him back?

Barry H {Ed002's Note - A £15M punt eh?}

10m and a huge cut in wages then he would be a consideration

£75 and a bag of chips a week, only then should he be considered.

MR EM

How about we just never touch him again with a stick regardless of the fee. He left us in the lurch and moved to a rival club, he isn't fit to wear the red shirt - but on top that he isn't good enough to play for us anymore, he has lost his pace, ability to take players, finishing ability, everything - he is neither needed nor wanted.

If Chelsea will accept punt's then i've a few lying around as no where f*****g else will accept them.

Daniel Agger To FC Barcelona

Manchester City have rocked Liverpool with a £13million bid for defender Daniel Agger.

Liverpool now face a major fight to keep Agger, 27, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also interested. (. )

LiamsBiz

Not enough, city offered us a lot more, plus I don't think Agger would leave just yet.

Xabi Alonso To Liverpool

Xabi Alonso is stalling on a new deal at Real Madrid - and Liverpool are waiting in the wings to bring him back to Anfield.

The former Reds' favourite, 31, has been an integral figure for the Spanish champions since swapping Merseyside for Madrid in the summer of 2009.

But reports in Spain claim he has yet to respond to the Real's desire to extend his contract, which expires in 2014.

The midfielder is not in a hurry to renew and is waiting to see what happens to boss Jose Mourinho, who has been tipped to leave the Bernabeu in the summer.

Whatever happens, Real are not keen on selling Alonso, despite the fact Liverpool have enquired about his availability in recent months.

Nice to see everyone has faith in our players. Not too long ago Reina was suffering with bad form and Jones put in a few good displays. I'm sure any nerves Jones has can be calmed by a supportive Anfield crowd?

10 Mar 2013 15:17:30
Dracula2000 completely disagree with you saying the rest of the season does not matter. Beating Tottenham and get consistency for the last part of the season is huge for keeping our big players.

You may rule out 4th but Chelsea and Tottenham have much tougher games then us so you never know what will happen but these last 10 games are still huge

Ed 002 I did as you suggested and checked with WonderDogSparky but he hasn't posted since 13th of Feb. Has his license been revoked? {Ed002's Note - I'll ask him when I see him.}

10 Mar 2013 15:08:30
What have Spurs won, why are they somehow regaled as the darlings of the Prem?

If you listened to all the BS flying around about Spurs at the moment, you would think we are about to face a cross between the 1970 Brazil team, the great Ajax team of the 70's the AC Milan team of the 90's and the current Barcelona team, with the superstar of superstars Bale filling the roles of Pele, Cryuff, Van Basten and Messi.

Overhype of justified, I don't know, But I do know this, they are currently 17 points behind a not very special United team and not a hope of getting close either. Hell they ain't even the second best team in Prem. And their much lauded player Bale will not even be the best player on the pitch today.

Sort

That is the united team that you are 29 points behind

26 points behind, but we acknowledge that gulf and aren't acting like we are better than we are

Hey Eds, hope all is well. We're certainly going to be looking at adding a centre-back to the team in the summer, just wondering if we've any interest in Marco Capuano? Only 21 and looks like a good player now and for the future. Plays for Pescara and is an Italy Under 21 international, shouldn't cost us the earth. Cheers

No more italians plz

10 Mar 2013 14:07:53
Suarez has been doing just ok of late but we need to keep him fresh for the run in to the end of the season so I think we should rest him for todays game.

Gareth Bale is pretty awful so he'll pose no real threat anyway,

Perhaps just start with Sterling up front by himself. That's what I'd do anyway and I know what I'm talkin about when it comes to footballing matters.

I know this is a joke but it's not funny

So the Hat-trick was "just ok"?

You should be spurs manager m8.

Nice avb try again

Wow. now that's tactics for you lol. Your hired

Who are we thinking as the front 3? Suarez, Coutinho, Sturridge?
Never thought I'd say it, but I'd feel a bit sorry for Downing if he misses out, think he's progressing well.
Any thoughts?
Also, have a look at Chelsea's and Spurs remaining fixtures. very very interesting. We could actually make top 4 with maybe 8 wins and a couple of draws!

While I agree that it's feasible that we could realistically take all of the remaining points in our current form, I don't see us, the mighty but inconsistent Liverpool, doing it! That said, I'd be chuffed to pieces! :)

10 Mar 2013 13:03:07
Could leave out a centre mid (likely Allen) and have Suarez or Coutinho behind Sturridge either.

I think that it will be coutinho sturridge downing with suarez dropping behing sturridge

Bale will cause problems. Johnsons naivety and carraghers lack of pace is an issue

10 Mar 2013 11:21:08
Forgive me if i'm being naive but what is this talk of nike funding the ronaldo deal, now its general motors? Is this BS or is it ligitimate or just paper talk. It would hack me right off if it were true. But you have to hand it to utd they play the whole game so well. Pains me to say it but they do! {Ed002's Note - Clearly you are confused about the differences between the shirt manufacturer and the sponsor. Perhaps you would do better to ask this on the Manchester United page.}

big feeling at 5-1 today for the reds
come on red men

I would be happy with a 2-1 win.
Really can't see Spurs letting 5 in.
Only way that is possible if Adebayor decides its his day to pick up another red today.

I see six

I'm old enough to remember a 7-0 win at home to Spurs in the late 70s.

And Pacman. I feel sorry for him. He needs help

Its a pity the above two are gone

They kept it real

10 Mar 2013 10:40:56
I remember losing to spurs at anfield a couple of years ago whwn we were under Woy. Back then I remember feeling it was symbolic of our deterioration amnd their rise. Today could be another symbolic game - the rise from the ashes of a baby Liverpool phoenix.

Anyway, we've been more than a match for all the teams above without getting the right results but since the arrival of sturridge and coutinho, we seem capable of beating anybody.

Who knows what the result will be? I just know we lllook more likely to be able to win than we did 2 months ago.

And that is already progress.

Come on you Reds! Give those spuds a good roasting and then mash 'em!

Singapore Red

We never played against spurs at anfield under Hodgeson.

Hardly Baby Liverpool. Since we got more experience in the side we haven't looked back.

10 Mar 2013 10:18:21
Looking forward to the game today, I genuinely believe we are going to beat spurs, I have no doubt at all in my mind. In fact this is the most confident I've been for a long time!

Todays game against Spurs could help define our future (although its not as quite as critical as some people are making out. )

To WIN could be the start of a tremendous run in to the end of the season. The players and fans would at last see the potential of the team (that is clearly there), turning into dare I say it, a dream of 4th place and a bright future?

To LOSE would probably signify the end of our season, the players heads could go down as they did last year, and we could end up no better than last season.

To DRAW could give us hope, we are not quite there yet, but at least we could dream.

My prediction? 3 -1 win to the reds. We have a good team who at long last are beginning to show unity and desire. I want to dream

Spurs are a good side and we need to nullify a few of their key players, but i'm hoping BR has sorted that!

Tel 1949

We are out of the FA cup

We are out of the league cup

We are out of the europa league

We were never in the EPL title challenge

Top 4 is long gone (it still remains as a pipe dream for some who mathematically won't rule it out)

So how would losing today alter much, if anything?

Sceaping for an outside shot at the europa league is not what we are about and surely the season has been over for awhile now?

We can only progress when we acknowledge where we are othewrwise we are just fooling ourselves?

Dracula2000

Although I agree with both posts, because both make valid points, I would say it is vitally important to play well and get as many points as possible until the end of the season irrespective of todays results. It will only be then that we can make an honest opinion of how the season has gone. So far it hasn't been good because of sll the point Dracula2000 makes but if we get close to 4th spot then I suppose we could call that progress. Players playing for their careers, a manager for his jobpossibly, Fsg would like to know if they are flogging a dead horse or is there a chink of light at the end of the tunnel. Is today the day to beat a team above us, remembering this is now March and nearing the end of the season? It is certainly long over due.

The Irish Rover

10 Mar 2013 10:35:51
Ok, well morale would drop! that's how our season would change!

True support Dracula, sucking the life out of support since the year 2000!

Papa G

FSG will not sack BR irrespective of where LFC finish in the EPL

BR is FSG's man

Players are playing for their careers some may be more so than others

The crucial piece of your post Irish Rover is FSG looking for a glimpse of hope, I think you are right about this but what it means is too early to tell.

I hope we win today fellow reds but if not remain calm.

Dracula2000

Keep right on till the end of the road keep right on to the end. ynwa

My prediction of 3-1 was close, but this game has shown that the team can fight, can come from behind and beat a good team like Spurs. They looked strong and put themselves about, we matched them but added a little more passing at times.

a good win for the boys, NOW WE DARE TO BELIEVE.

One game at a time till the end of the season will do us. See where we end up.

Happy day today especially with agent Rafa putting some pressure on old whiskey nose. you never know they may just crumble now

I am always a realist, and look at things logically but I can see a big win for the pool tomorrow. If we score an early goal 4-0, 5-1 score line. If they score first 2-1, 3-1. Spuds will leave an field tomorrow exposed and embarrassed.

Spurs deserve to be third in the league. They have a good team and they're no more reliant on one player (Bale) than we are (Suarez).

We can play well against top teams, we've shown that, but we still haven't gotten the result we've deserved. We really need to sort that today.

4 or 5 nil is almost certainly not going to happen. I'd happily take the scrappiest, most controversial, of 1-0 wins, with Suarez somehow getting away with picking the ball up in his hands and running 30 yards into the Spurs goal for the winner.

10 Mar 2013 04:21:12
I like most Liverpool fans would love to see a return of Xabi Alonso. He's a world class player and could instantly improve our first 11. He's got effortless grace in the way he controls a game and for 3-4 years could come in with Gerrard and really develop/mentor the young talent in our squad Allen, Henderson, Shelvey etch plus the younger players in Suso, Texeira and Rossiter.

Unfortunately for me, I'm a realist and I just can't see it next season. If the unthinkable happens and we snook that champions league spot then never say never. But without that boost of income, I can't see the deal making financial sense. I doubt Xabi would demand ridiculous money, but I bet he'd still be close to our top 3 earners. He's not an age the owners aim for and would still command a decent fee, even with only 12 months left of his contract.

Without doubt he'd be my key signing of the summer, but not the most crucial. Our defence more than anything has to become our main focus with Carra leaving our major concern. Our midfield is relatively strong, especially with Coutinho settling well so far. Up top we're looking much better too, assuming Luis stays.

I'm not sure whether to expect a summer of multiple ins and outs, or very few. There are a lot of potential departures, but equally Reina, Skrtel, Downing, Assaidi, Shelvey etc could conceivably all stay.

Looking forward to today's game. I'd be delighted with a win, which could have some serious implications for the remainder of the season. I've got a funny feeling we'll nick it, but only just.

Papa G

Dunno how I'm feeling about today we've beaten a few average teams but spurs have just got 2 great results against an arsenal and a poor inter team and unbeaten in 15 games. not saying we can't win but it will be hard and spurs should not be underestimated. Still hoping for a win the home fans may make the difference.

COME ON LIVERPOOL!

Some may have a go at me for posting a non Liverpool related post, but oh well.

People say that brendan rodgers has a crap tactical mind, but jesus christ david moyes did himself no favours today.

A hugely experienced manager with 10 silverware starved years with the blues, and he goes and does that today. He has severly hurt his chances of getting a big job in the summer after that.

Moyes completely underestimated wigan, even the commentator thought their midfield looked better than evertons. Gibson should have started and maybe hitzlsperger as well, he probably should have played 3 in the middle of the park, given wigans passing reputation, and started their strongest midfielder in gibson.

Instead b7g philly nev nev and osman start, play awfully and fail to control the midfield. He then takes off a midfielder for a striker, clearly failing to notice the wigan domination in the middle. Anichebe should have come on for the misfiring jelavic, push the wingers up and drop fellaini back to midfield, with gibson replacing big philly neve nev. Another horrific mistake.

To top it all off he then takes off evertons best player, for no reason, even when others re playing worse. That didn't go down too well.
What would abramovich and co think after that fiasco?

And there are some who have the cheek to call moyes a mastermind and rodgers a baboon. Phuh

Does anyone on here care about them or their manager?

So what should we do with this irrelevant info

What, isn't there a Everton page?

Well I did say, if you had actually read the post, that half of you wouldn't give a she*p anyway. So i'm not entirely sure why you havereplied with 'who cares' because I understand that some of you won't care.

Were you just trying to get agrees or something? Really? Because I could now say that you should be on facebook rather than this banter page. Why state the obvious?

However if there was anyone who was interested or had an opinion on the matter, they could either agrre or disagrreee with my statement. I'm not sure how it offended you in such a way that I couldn't discuss it.

Joe Maguire was training with the first team this week. Do you know anything about him Ed?

GuvTOB {Ed001's Note - left back who, I am told, has a wand of a left foot. He has been pushing Robinson and Smith in the youth teams of late, so was given a little taster of the first team.}

I have been told Robbo will be sold on, in the summer and so too will a few of the other under 21's, who have gone out on loans. Jao Texiera will be the next one moved up to the first team He will beome the perfect number 10. He came with a back problem that's why he wasn't pushed last summer.
