Any interest in the german tah?

{Ed002's Note - In 2014 when he was at Hamburg,}

11 Jun 2017 10:48:57
He's had an awful seasonleverkusen are lucky to not get relagated.

11 Jun 2017 10:01:53
Cheers ed.

10 Jun 2017 22:50:13
Guys and eds! Will we ever stop just window shopping? Looking at the better more expensive products but then thinking, no we can get the same product from Poundland although it's not as good! We will get nowhere with this mentality! Our most important transfer window in years and we will stuff it up! We need quality, especially if we reach the champions league proper! Although i have a feeling we are waiting to see if we get through the qualifier first but by then it will be too late to sign any targets we may have, as they will already be at other clubs! Please tell me this isn't going to happen eds?

I can't wait until the preseason kicks in, IMO we need to give grujic, ejaria, ojo and Alexander Arnold a lot of playing time. These lads are quality especially ejaria would be a shame to let them slip away just so we can buy someone new.

Believable13 Unbelievable6

11 Jun 2017 09:40:59
Agreed. Ojo and Woodburn also. We need a big squad so signing a few top quality players should be the aim with all these lads coming in the add depth.

10 Jun 2017 21:31:59
Well done to both Manchester clubs, signing their top targets. Signing players before the window is open, spending £120m between them.

Looking forward to seeing who was fifth choice winger, Moreno and Milner battling out LB spot and balancing the books.

10 Jun 2017 22:03:46
Bore off mate.

10 Jun 2017 22:07:20
Chelsea are signing Bakayoko in the next few days too
, he's undeniably a top class midfielder and they're consolidating on their title win. There is no way that the clowns who run our club are either as organised or as ambitious.

10 Jun 2017 22:44:40
They got lindelof for 30 mil. He must be crap as that's todays 10 mil lmao.

10 Jun 2017 22:57:00
I find it almost offensive that the bids are purposefully too low. It's almost like they take us for stupendously thick, it's very much a case of being seen to spend without spending.
I could call Neymar agree to pay him £500k p/ w knowing that the offer of £20 and a signed football from Ian Rush will be turned down by Barca.
I get VVD was tapping up, the leak prevented the deal from getting done. Who leaked that?
Salah, we apparently won't up from £29m to £35m but might pursue £40m Martins, with poorer stats. Funny that at the same time, we won't accept a penny less then £30m for Sakho. I just don't see how they're backing Klopp by not signing his targets and pricing out a sale of someone he wants rid. We're back in the CL, have a desirable coach to attract and keep being told we have money, can compete with anyone and this is going to be a huge window of spending. However, no one signed, alienating clubs and already onto options C.

Things need to step up.

10 Jun 2017 23:01:00
Quite pleased with the young striker that we've signed from Chelsea. It's early doors on the transfer window front, so just wait and see please.

11 Jun 2017 00:25:05
what is wrong with everyone? why is everone suddenly so impatient the window isn't even open yet. take a chill pill jesus christ.

11 Jun 2017 04:26:23
Max if it was the beginning of August id be in the same boat but it isn't. window hasn't opened yet. plenty of movement from players in and out to come.

11 Jun 2017 08:05:32
cyprusred91, whether its June or August, LFC are known for pulling this c**p every window. Lowballing on quality players and then spending on 20 year olds with the excuse of 'outstanding future potential'. No manager in this world can guarantee sustained success for LFc with this strategy. Klopp will walk sooner rather than later when he realises its impossible to win the premier league and UCl at LFC without the financial might of the top tier clubs. We will buy 6-7 players for the sake of it on low wages instead of spending big on 3 quality players that would actually enhance our first team significantly. Its does not take a genius to figure out that even 3 players (VVD, Mendy and Salah) would be more than enough to get us challenging on all fronts as they address the major issues in the team. Yes, the fees will probably be around 130-140 million combined, but then the club could actually solidify its place in the top4 for the foreseeable future and attract better players if we recruit wisely this summer. Sadly I don't see this happening. All this just points towards a repeat of the window Suarez left and we responded by signing the likes of Markovic, Lambert and LOvren.

11 Jun 2017 08:41:11
I've never seen such mass hysteria like this so early in a summer. It's ridiculous, players will be signed we just need to be patient. See who actually comes through the door before kicking off. At the end of the day it's not too late for Salah and personally I'd rather we spend money on some fullbacks than blow our whole budget on a centre back. It's going to be a very long summer for everyone involved with Liverpool if we start kicking off at the beginning of June.

11 Jun 2017 09:47:22
While im not in this camp I can understand considering the assmuck we have put ourselves in on both the vvd and salah deals by tapping them up. Then the sesegnon non starter, brandt snub and mendy messing about on wages. These are top players that would have fixed our priotity areas, i just think fans are frustrated with the clubs ineptitude and unprofessionalism more than anything else. I too worry, but hay like people keep saying the window is not yet open, but it does not stop u wondering what could have been if we were a club that was run properly with some integrity.

10 Jun 2017 20:34:04
Any chance couts and firmino could persuade douglas costa to come sign for us!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed004's Note - Isn't that what Klopp is there for? I'm only kidding btw}

10 Jun 2017 20:03:24
I guess everyones panicking because of citys spending right? don't worry guys we can't control others let's hope we get the players who fit our system rather than those 35million goalie i would want another coutinho. keep your calm and wait for some weeks lads.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

10 Jun 2017 21:05:23
I was panicking. But then I went to work and got on with my life :)

10 Jun 2017 21:59:16
Amen Benny Baller!

Life goes on jesus.

10 Jun 2017 21:38:54
More importantly, who is Bozo Texino? (I have actually watched the film and it was really good. )

10 Jun 2017 23:12:42
No I'd say lads are panicking because we are a laughing stock who had to make embarrassing apologies while others go about their business and actually sign their targets, city have been spending a long time, not going to start panicking now,

10 Jun 2017 19:45:40
Brandt starting for Germany however playing on the right wing.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 Jun 2017 20:15:54
Maybe Emre will have a word with him. Aslong as Klopp doesn't yet.

10 Jun 2017 20:04:42
Oh no, like Ed002 says that's impossible - right wingers cannot play on the left and vice versa!

Only messing Ed, all love.

10 Jun 2017 19:39:24
Hi Eds, I know this might be quite difficult to answer but who do you think is more likely to sign, Martins or Salah? I've not heard much recently about either. Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I really cannot sensibly answer "more likely" type questions.}

10 Jun 2017 19:47:47
Can't see either of them signing. We won't meet Roma's valuation and Benfica are asking even more.

10 Jun 2017 19:56:10
Hi Ed002, Quick question.
What is more likely? These sorts of questions stopping. or you pulling your hair out in frustration? :-)

{Ed002's Note - If only I had hair.}

10 Jun 2017 20:11:56
I don't think Benfica wants anything for Martins. Sporting Lisbon, on the other hand.

10 Jun 2017 20:01:27
I take it the last of it went during the January transfer window lol.

10 Jun 2017 21:00:41
I've heard we might get both.

11 Jun 2017 01:13:25
I'd rather go for brant or costa. Both actually play on the left.

10 Jun 2017 19:15:50
Have we shown any interest in .............

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - We are not answering questions about random players.}

10 Jun 2017 14:11:16
Afternoon eds. Would I be correct in assuming that our transfer business is some what on hold at the minute until the madness clears up?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - No.}

10 Jun 2017 18:20:56
Everyone needs to calm down looks like we've got away with the bull. It's just business as usual. Transfers are complicated and take time at the best of times.

10 Jun 2017 16:37:33
Hey eds I no it's only early in the window but getting a bit worried as to how little we seem to be doing when a few days ago we had 2 players pretty much signed now there no news on potential newcomers please give us some goodness red is there owt u no in regards to new signings thanks a lot eds keep up the good work.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - just have to be patient mate, the window has not even opened yet.}

10 Jun 2017 17:44:02
I thought it had ed?

10 Jun 2017 18:35:54
Isn't it 1/ 7 it opens?

10 Jun 2017 22:31:40
The window opened yesterday.

10 Jun 2017 23:18:48
Opens 1st July, closes 31st August.

11 Jun 2017 00:06:47
No players can officially join on the 1st July, the window opened yesterday!

10 Jun 2017 16:33:42
Pleased that Sturridge not involved for England although I'm sure it will be disappointing for him. Lallanas first game back since injured on international duty. Please please stay fit, fancy him being MOM again today he really has improved this season.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

10 Jun 2017 17:23:27
Let's see how Robertson gets on though against England. Probably won't be tested too much. Really baffles me how so many rate walker so highly btw. Every time I see him I think he's going to miss control, try play out and get caught or play one of those brilliant back passes 😅.

10 Jun 2017 17:43:41
Walker has improved a lot over the last couple of seasons, probably helps he's playing in a good team with strong centre backs and holding midfielders.

10 Jun 2017 18:26:31
Are you watching the game? Caught behind attacker, could have been pen if Griffiths hadn't made a meal of it. Been caught a few times trying to run out too tho nothing has come of that. Yet. He's decent but don't understand how he's rated as the best and Clyne gets a slating from our own fans.

11 Jun 2017 07:16:36
So your judging him off one game? The lad got in the PFA team of the year, that tells you what kind of season he has had and it's been miles ahead of what Clynes just had.

10 Jun 2017 13:25:11
Just watched a quick video on brandt - seen him play before but didn't really pay much attention then. Seems like he mostly take up positions centrally or on the right, is it just recently he's converted to a lw or was he playing across the front line last year? Not sure what Costa's (Douglas) attitude is like, but he seems the best fit for me, quick skilful and an out and out winger. A little older than we normally g for, but champo league experience and not a huge fee!

Believable8 Unbelievable1

10 Jun 2017 12:54:48
A few points to throw into the mix.

1. I still think we'll sign Van Dijk before the end of the window. Player power always wins.

2. Make Coutinho captain. He's done it for Brazil and it is more likely to make him want to stay. Henderson is not going to play more than 50% of the games and that is not ideal.

Believable9 Unbelievable11

10 Jun 2017 13:58:50
For me Couthtino is far to quiet to be captain. You need a voice on the pitch. That's what I think we lack is a really strong vocal leader.

10 Jun 2017 13:59:58
2. Maybe vice-captain. But I really didn't see much of him having the quality of a captain.

10 Jun 2017 14:07:36
Unfortunately I can't see us signing VVD now. Even though the eds have explained it, I don't think people understand how bad the situation is regarding Liverpool, tapping up and the previous warnings from fa. We could be in serious trouble this time, all at our own fault too.
I'd love VVD, but it would probably mean Southampton pulling our pants down asking for a world record fee.

If we Learn to do business the proper and fair way, things will change

There's still a whole transfer window left, I'm not to worried about who we will and won't get. I'm more worried about this tapping up situation.

10 Jun 2017 14:27:45
Henderson is fine as captain. Your prediction that he'll play less than 50% of games next season is pure speculation at this point.

I'd prefer to see a player like Coutinho play without the extra burden of captaincy.

10 Jun 2017 15:08:35
We are Liverpool, not Arsenal. We don't just gift our most talented player the captaincy, we give it to the most influential member of the squad and that is Henderson.

10 Jun 2017 15:45:02
I've had plantar faciitus like Henderson's got. It doesn't go away too easily, as we saw last season. He never missed games through a broken leg, ligament injuries, sprains, carriage or hamstring injuries. It was plantar faciitus and he will miss a lot of games next season too. I'm not happy about it but it's a fact.

At certain times in a clubs history, it becomes obvious that the captaincy needs to change. Yeats to Smith. Smith to Hughes, Hughes to Souness, Hyypia to Gerrard etc. That time is now.

I know Coutinho appears to be quiet but he is the best player and can lead by example, like Gerrard. If he can captain Brazil, he can captain us. It might even take his game up to the next level.

as for VVD, I know what the LFV statement said and I know what the EDS said, and I respect them greatly but just have a hunch that this is not dead yet. I hope I'm right.

10 Jun 2017 11:54:28
Left Back? Why oh why are we not going to work Gomez in this role . Was doing a great Job before the injuries . I remember a certain no 23 playing full back under GH initially who turned out to be a fair Centre half to say the least!

Believable4 Unbelievable8

10 Jun 2017 12:11:27
From memory Gomez playing left back was average and ridiculously predictable. we need a left footer that can actually cross a ball from the line if needed.

10 Jun 2017 12:14:58
He was very good at left back for about 5 games until he started to be targeted then he lost his place to Moreno then he got injured.

10 Jun 2017 12:15:59
I have to agree as much as he tried and did ok, he really isn't and the answer for left back. From what I can remember he was caught out more than a few times. but honestly after our on going transfer saga. what should've been an exciting times with us spending big and bringing in established players has now got me very worried.

10 Jun 2017 12:17:12
I would agree with Smurf. I don't think Gomez was that great at the time but to be fair he was thrown into the role. It is completely possible with a pre season he could massively improve. I would not be against giving him a shot to see what he can do.

10 Jun 2017 12:25:27
just get him to challenge in his proper position, centre back. while matip has been decent, he hasn't exactly dominated his position.

10 Jun 2017 12:29:58
He was decent defensively but he's not attacking minded and very right footed, so while I'd be OK to see him drafted there in emergencies he's not a natural fit at LB. More likely RB but then we have TAA there deputising.

I'd say use him at CB or if really not ready then loan to a championship side.

10 Jun 2017 12:52:18
Yoy may aswel stil with milner if ypur not bothered about a proper lb.

We all want one who can balance the team and give somw crosses.

10 Jun 2017 11:20:09
At this time of year its, if, but, maybe the true time of fantasy so bear with me. Now people say we need a proven 20+ goal striker, so what if we move Sturridge on i thin there is a proven premiership striker out there that can do this and has been told to find another club.

so would Diego Costa fit that bill, no one else asked so i felt i had to put it out there, i know he could be a nightmare but he's a proven handful and a good goalscorer.

Believable4 Unbelievable8

10 Jun 2017 11:28:18
we have had enough issue players over the years throwing the name under a bus, we don't need anymore trouble!

Balotelli and Suarez is enough for the 21st century.

10 Jun 2017 11:30:30
No no and no. I would be turn on Suarez returning never mind Costa. Would almost be as bad as the slightest rumour that went about that we could sign Terry.

10 Jun 2017 12:55:08
Costa in a heartbeat. Are you all insane.

2x premierleague winner, la liga winner, champions league finalist, fa cup winner.

20 goals a season.

Top top top player. Would absolutely transform us and he's a freaking hatd worker so would fit nicely into the team. Id offer 60 million and 200k wages right now. Then figure out what else we need to streghen. Maybe mendy? Then if were lucky peri (rb) with some sales.

10 Jun 2017 13:10:49
Highly talented and clinical striker. Would cost a packet and embarrass the team with his play acting and sly kicks at the opposition. Filthy player.

10 Jun 2017 13:32:23
Could you imagine what Klopp would do to Costa though, look at Sakho and he's an angel compared to costa.

10 Jun 2017 13:41:09
Such a pointless debate.

Why would he come?

Defensive reinforcements all the way. Kane scored 29 goals last season and they still didn't win the title despite having one of the best defences.

Winning the league isn't as cut and dry as scoring more goals and letting less in.

10 Jun 2017 13:51:27
I must say Im big admirer of Diego Costa and i think he would suit our style of play perfectly. He works so hard and his behavior on the pitch was better this season. we need warriors nor ballet dancers! If he is really free to go from chelsea I would say take a risk, we are emberasment anyway lol.

10 Jun 2017 16:16:34
87 but your definitely adding to your causw with a top striker.

Spurs have just come acrosd two hughly performing teams and been incredibly unlucky. But i would take to top 3 finishes rather than worrying aboht finishing 4th.

10 Jun 2017 11:18:27

10 Jun 2017 13:05:41
Put years on me that post Jdr.

10 Jun 2017 15:31:22
Truth be told! Go back to sleep with your Mandy keita Brandt vvd! The interweb has your mind spoilt for choice folks! But wake the hell up!

10 Jun 2017 20:15:16
God what a load of moaning nonsense - worse of all is all the agrees that the original post got!

We've signed one players team than or the same as every other team except City who have two.

Jesus, offering wagers to fans to bet against their own team being successful and people are in support of that and jumping on the bandwagon of "we're sh*t".

We've just confirmed our place back in champions leagues and so so many on here are just moaning and whinging. It's pathetic.

Yesterday, Maxlfc had really thrown his dummy out and "didn't even want to have the transfer windows anymore" he wasn't so upset. WOW!

Have a word with yourself people seriously, acting like ptetulant little brats!

RON KEAGUE, please do what you do best and restore some positivity to the page! 😂.

10 Jun 2017 11:03:12
I'd love to see this list of targets 1 -5 . I can't believe that this is how it works. I'd imagine there was a list of targets and all the avenues were looked into on each player and then a decision was made.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Jun 2017 10:36:48
ONe for Ed01 as I believe you are doing the end of season reviews? . when ( and who) is the next one in its way?

Not got to the prem power brokers yet. its killing me with anticipation!

Great job on these btw.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - at the moment I am just dropping in a Villa one, as someone on the Villa site asked for it. Sorry it would have been done days ago but the VVD stuff came up. It will be Watford next I think.}

10 Jun 2017 10:05:07
For me I'm still hoping we manage to snag our original targets. Van Dijk, Brandt would be perfect fits for our squad and most importantly improve it.

We don't actually have a left winger at th e club at all not just in team but the squad. I don't understand how Brandt can't see that. Hasn't his agent told him this?

He is the better buy for us and the cheaper option to Martins and Salah in both terms of fee and wage package. He is naturally a left sided winger also. It baffles me we haven't somehow been able to finalise this one already.

We have a huge amount of games next season and this would give him ample opportunity to get games. I would go as far to say if he did sign we would could still do with another wide player in addition to Brandt.

Reports are claiming Douglas Costa can leave Bayern for 22 million if that's the case I'd sign both players giving us three quality wide players in Brandt, Mane and Costa.

We could play upto 12 CL games before xmas we will also have the league cup and there is also league games. That's a lot of games, injuries haven't even been taken into account as yet. We lost Mane for the last part of this season which hindered us badly in the run in so three quality wide players is a must and those three would be ideal.

If Costa is available for the 22 million being reported we would be probably paying the same for both Brandt and Costa as we would be paying for Martins or Salah (I know there's other monies involved, but I'm talking transfer fees alone) .

If we can't sign Sessenogn which looks unlikely then we have Juanma. He hasn't been given any chance as yet but is highly regarded. Would have been great to have both obviously. As those two competing for a first team place would drive both on.
Baffled me we only offered him cup games and U23 games as with same as Brandt would have got a lot more opportunities if he had signed.

Believable11 Unbelievable2

10 Jun 2017 10:13:17
Can we please move on from Van Dijk. It really is getting morbid now.

It is not about Brandt or his agent seeing we need a left wide player. It is about Liverpool knocking on Leverkusen's door to make an attempt to sign him.

10 Jun 2017 10:17:55
Had to add the above signings would give us a really impressive squad for a serious challenge on a few fronts.

Karius, Mignolet.

Lovren, Matip, Van Dijk, Gomez, Klavan.

Clyde, Milner, Juanma, Sessenogn, Alexander-Arnold.

Lallana, Wijnaldrum, Coutinho, Henderson, Grujic,

Mane, Brandt, Costa.

Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Solanke.

That's an impressive squad with both experience and youth. I didn't include Lucas as I think he'll be leaving.

10 Jun 2017 10:36:46
Emre?

10 Jun 2017 10:38:29
How can we possibly play 12 champions league games before xmas?

10 Jun 2017 12:06:16
Forgot Can too ( I knew there was another mdfielder.

In regards to CL games there would be a two legged qualifier. If we get through would we not play one set of league games and then start second?

10 Jun 2017 09:06:15
Hi Eds

I know you have talked, at considerable length, about the possible players joining and leaving Liverpool on permanent deals. So I won't ask about that. But what I was wondering is, who would Liverpool allow to leave on loan, particularly youngsters.

I know there is interest in Ojo, whether that interest in permanent or a loan, I do not know, but what are our plans concerning him.

What about Woodburn, Solanke, Ejaria, Trent, Wilson, Kent. We have so many talented youngsters and yet the way to the first team seems blocked for many of them. Maybe with time, and sales, the players will get an opportunity. So, which players do you see staying, because Klopp believes in their abilities, and which will go out on loan.

Hope this finds you well, ED.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - far too early to say mate, the transfer window will decide on a lot of it, plus it depends what interest comes in.}

10 Jun 2017 09:22:52
Klopp will need to see some of them in pre season before decisions are made.

10 Jun 2017 09:23:53
Pending qualification for the CL group stages, Liverpool will have many more games to play this coming season. The cup games will be a very good chance for the youngsters to get a proper run out.

The only youngster to have shown readiness is TAA.

10 Jun 2017 09:39:35
For me I think loans are best option for the below youngsters.

Ojo rumours Newcastle want to take him on loan, a season on loan in the premiship would be great for his development.

Gomez, rumours Bournemouth and Brighton would take on loan again would be good for the player.

Ward, surely another season loan at Huddersfield is best for all parties.

Solanke is an interesting one I can't see him breaking through this season. Ideally a newley promoted club would be great for his development as he seems to know where the net is but has had the opportunity to prove it anywhere as yet in the prem.

Ojaria would also benefit from a loan but where I can't think of a prem team where he'd get regular games so maybe a drop down to a championship side.

I'd keep the likes of Juanma, Woodburn and Alexander Arnold at the club to get chances.

I think Stewart, Flanagan, Wisdom are all likely to leave this summer.

On top of that we also have Ings who needs to get games under his belt so possibly another loan there to could happen.

I'm unsure if a prem team can loan more than one player from a club at same time so we are limited on teams so would firstly loan them and secondly play them enough through a season.

I think the teams most likely to loan any of our youngsters would be Huddersfield, Newcastle, Brighton, Burnley or Swansea.

10 Jun 2017 10:07:45
Don't the new EPL rules regarding loans for young players state that clubs who loan young players need to commit to giving them a decent amount of minutes during the season?

Can remember reading something like that start of last season so clubs will be a bit more wary about taking young players on loan from now on.

10 Jun 2017 10:19:20
I'm not sure where we are at with the rules at minute as they change a lot.

10 Jun 2017 10:22:22
Another thing, rules also state that loans cannot be cut short anymore so we are likely to see many of our youngsters being released as we will not be able to keep holding onto players from our academy/ youth as it will just lead to a complete and utter stagnation.

10 Jun 2017 11:37:12
I'd like us to have a core squad of 18 or so top top players nd let the likes of TAA, Gomez, Grujic, Ejaria, Ojo, Woodburn nd Kent make up the rest of the squad. Loan Wilson out for a season.

10 Jun 2017 08:33:22
Ed02 i still think your correct re our left side - bertrand and brandt. I am very pleased with solankie hope he gets Chance s with grugic and gomez, ojo.

{Ed002's Note - Solanke is a player who everyone thinks highly of and could prove to be a greart buy.}

10 Jun 2017 08:58:52
Christ - a positive post! I'll do a screenshot to get through the next few weeks.

10 Jun 2017 09:36:41
A couple of my mates are season ticket holders at the Bridge and they rate Solanke extremely highly. Both were really disappointed when he was sold.

10 Jun 2017 09:36:51
Solanke looks very versatile to me - big, physical and able to hold the ball up well, but also with reasonable pace, good movement and a poachers instinct. I hope he gets given a real chance in the cups and the odd PL game perhaps.

10 Jun 2017 12:56:44
I hopw he takes his chances.

10 Jun 2017 09:00:21
ED002. don't you dare get my hopes up on Solanke. I was a big fan of his before, now I'm going to think he is the best youngster to have ever existed :P.

10 Jun 2017 07:03:52
As well as Solanke scoring two goals, Ojo played two useful balls into the box for those goals. Hope they can break into the first team this year with our extra games there will be the opportunities.

It looks like LFC have got away with it. The FA has issued a severe and last warning to LFC and Klopp has been banned from hugging the players of the opponent teams at the end of matches for two years. They think that would minimise the risk of his tapping them up by whispering in their ears while doing so. It looks like Klopp will be buying many teddy bears to cope with such a ban.

Hilarious. Secret hand shakes next.

{Ed002's Note - It wasn't hands.}

10 Jun 2017 11:02:06
Klopp hug ban, love it 😃.

10 Jun 2017 11:38:55
Butt, can he bum slap?

10 Jun 2017 02:15:59
I'm always intrigued with regards to a club's annual squad update I. e who has been released etc.

After first hand experience involving good friends who were teenage veterans of their respective academies (Blackburn, Wigan, Crewe, Liverpool and crewe), only to be released in to the real world, it always intrigued me the reasons for their departure and the players reaction to such a heart-wrenching decision.

Let us not undervalue the commitment and effort of all aspiring young boys/ girls and families, who have clung on to the optimism that they may one day make that big leap in to the glory of league football.

As a coach of youth myself, it would kill me to make the professional yet stomach churning decision to release and advise the kids that were not quite good enough.

Football is a business, but the potential for moral killing potential career ending advice must haunt the old school coaches.

City and Chelsea have little compassion in comparison.

Port Vale.

10 Jun 2017 02:35:57
And for all you traditionalists, City are cleaning up babies in Merseyside before our two great clubs get a sniff.

Wrong.

10 Jun 2017 00:51:49
Hey Eds. Just want your opinion. From Salah and Martins which would be your choice? Only seen YouTube clips of them so can't really make a judgement. Thanks in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Brandt - by a country mile.}

10 Jun 2017 01:09:20
Ed02, I understand that it was game time guarantee that made him hesitant to join. With us now going for Salah, and then Martins, is Brandt really no longer considered?

{Ed002's Note - Brandt would be first choice - the others are similar to Mane - Brandt is a left winger.}

10 Jun 2017 01:30:00
Brandt should believe in himself to make the move to a bigger club as he certainly has the ability, sadly he will no doubt end up at B. Munich shortly as most top Germans do.

10 Jun 2017 01:59:39
He could easily end up staying at Leverkusen this season. There's a World Cup in 2018 which I assume makes it even more important for him to get regular football. A season of broken performances could easily jeopardise his place in the squad.

I can't fault the lad for wanting a guarantee of first team football.

10 Jun 2017 02:28:23
Is right tq.

He needs to remember though that we're not Utd or City, therefore there is little risk of not getting games, unless of course he is shabite at footie, in which his ego would be dented by the fact he simply isn't good enough.

As far as I'm concerned, old lemo jaw will give him a good go.

Good on him for not wanting to be a subbuteo bench player mercenary, and that is a good enough reason alone and mental attribute to push through the signing.

Funny thing is that this apparent washed out city, with all its scallies and shoulder spuds allows players to just be themselves.

If he performs and the Kop love him then end of (with the exception of Sakho of course) .

Ssshhhb.

10 Jun 2017 06:20:15
Hi Ed, why Brandt by a country mile?

Salah is a very good player and much more proven. The defence of your opinion is that Salah is a right winger like Mane, but surely you know that Mane can play on both sides of the pitch?

Getting Brandt would be nice, but Liverpool shouldn't stoop to offering him flimsy assurances, despite some levels the club has already stooped to.

{Ed002's Note - And which is the left winger that the club need so much?~

10 Jun 2017 07:01:13
Hi Ed002 do you believe we should sign him even if it means promising game time-surely it's a case you'll get your chances but like anyone if you play crap you get dropped. I was going to compare to Grujic but there would not be the same work permit issues for JB and requirements to play x games a year?

{Ed002's Note - No, I think Liverpool should look to a practical solution of persuading someone who plays in a position where they wish to strengthen that it will all be nifty.}

10 Jun 2017 08:42:57
Hope that can happen he does look a class player.

10 Jun 2017 09:30:54
Honest question. What is wrong with playing a left footed Salah on the left wing? I could see him and right footed Mane switching wings frequently and causing defences serious problems.

10 Jun 2017 10:07:17
' I can't give any guarantees Julian will play every week, because I have a squad with a lot of players and a lot of matches, however we consider Julian to be our top target this summer, Coutinho is going to play this season from the centre and so I've got the left side earmarked for him. If i wasn't convinced he was a top player, I wouldn't be prioritising him. Go on, have him sign it, you know you want to'.
Something like that perhaps?

10 Jun 2017 10:26:49
Works for me Davey. Except we tried to sign Salah already so may need to reword the top target bit!

12 Jun 2017 21:51:39
Thanks for the reply Ed002. I understand why Brandt would be a better fit since he plays on the left side. The negotiations are getting frustrating I'm sure most would agree. I would like to see Douglas Costa, he seems more suited to the PL. Any chance at all of us going for him?

{Ed002's Note - He is in negotiations with another club. Liverpool has shown zero interest.}

10 Jun 2017 00:48:36

Okay, this is bad.

This is really, really, really bad.

Yahoo have just revealed the extent of our meddling regarding Van Dijk, and Klopp is definitely implicated in the whole thing. What the hell was he playing at!?

Not only did Klopp stage one-on-one talks with the player but he also sent video messages detailing how he would be used if he joined Liverpool. Klopp did all of this without Southampton's knowledge and consent. That is tapping up, that is illegal and our manager was the man heavily involved with it. Did no one talk to Klopp, explain to him the does and don't of negotiations!? Is this acceptable in Germnay!? No, so why the hell did Klopp think it was such a good idea to get involved with this behaviour!?

Yahoo's story doesn't end there though, apparently personal terms had already been agreed between Liverpool and Van Dijk. Before Southampton were even brought into the conversation.

People blaming FSG need to fic their glasses and recognise that they are the ones with the money, not the final decision on transfers or how to conduct business. Edwards, Moore and Klopp are the ones who should be being criticized, in my opinion. I know FSG is a really easy scapegoat but let's actually use our brains for once and recognise the people at fault.

Also, Yahoo tells us that Van Dijk 'kicked up a fuss' in order to be sold to Liverpool. The man has five years left on his contract, and he is pulling this.

If we had just conducted business properly, informed Southampton of our interest and then gone from there, I think 50 million might have been enough. But, because we went behind Southampton's back, and they got really pissed, they raised their valuation.

Hopefully, from this moment on, Liverpool go by the book and purchases the quality players we need in the team without resorting to underhand methods. Salah is someone we appeared to be aiming for, but something tells me that deal will come to nothing. Cannot wait till pre-season starts, enough with the transfer season, it is doing my head in.

10 Jun 2017 01:30:41
lol yahoo how very credible.

10 Jun 2017 09:43:11
Klopps meeting with VVD has been widely publicised and maybe Klopp has taken tapping up to the extreme but if you think we are the only club doing this you are badly mistaken. Every club does it and has done for years. In this case the info was leaked to the press by some idiot at the club and of course they had a field day with it.
Obviously we will have to be whiter than white now but hopefully the powers that be will be watching other clubs also.
If this event helps to clean up the game maybe some good will come of it. To be honest I do not think the other big clubs, especially those just across the M6, will give a damn.

09 Jun 2017 20:58:56
Hi Eds, I remember FSG's (Henry and Werner) concern with the damage to brand reputation of the Suarez/ Evra saga and KK lost his job in the wake of it. So I guess they will have equal concern with the current damaging fiasco? Surely Mike Gordon, Michael Edwards and Klopp have damaged the club's reputation?

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Yes there will be a very major concern.}

10 Jun 2017 02:52:07
And rightly so - I really feel things were moving in the right direction until this. Hopefully we can put it to bed and learn from this and never ever go down this route again, whether intentional or not it was either extreme arrogance, or complete incompetence.

09 Jun 2017 20:20:54
Ed002

You and the other eds must be really getting sick and tired of all the questions regards kloop and other lfc members of staff yet again screwing up, So my question is this.

What really needs to be done to drastically stop all of this behaviour from continuing and constantly giving the club a more and more tarnished image, something has to give at some stage it can't keep going on like this for the foreseeable future.
So if you were the owner of LFC and seeing what has transpired in the past and at present what would you do personally to stop all of this and move forward with a view to putting the club back into a positive light and be attractive to one and all clubs again in regards doing business?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Stop making illegal approaches to players and start acting responsibly. It is no more than that really.}

10 Jun 2017 03:45:51
staff members should be held accountable and punished for such breaches in my personal opinion, would you agree?

{Ed002's Note - I would rather the club and the staff collectivelearn to be better and work within the rules.}

09 Jun 2017 19:45:57
Ed is there more fallout on the crap from the tapping up to come? As u have painted a. Pretty grim picture!? And by sounds of im sure if you're in the know to the shady side of things, then the powers that be are . Its a rough time for the fans and the club . This window been the most important imo, is now becoming the worst in history . Not sure how accurate this is, but a guy I know (Liverpool fan ) suggested to me that things are going to hit the fan because of the conduct of Liverpool . Hope I'm wrong.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The Premier League are still awaiting Liverpool's explanation of events after they initially lied and denied it. They may decide to issue a warning or they may decide to investigate to establh what roles all of the parties, including any player representatives, had in the matter. That could result in a charge. Given the club have just been caught having lied to another FA investigation they need to come clean and trhey need to smarten up.}
