LFC to sign Sigurdson, Adam Johnson, Giovani Dos Santos and Luuk De Jong by the end of August!! Will also consider Diame for CM!!

Who's paying Roman or the Sheik?

10 Jun 2012 23:01:59
Lfc could do worse then look at Croat players.Strong,skillful,will to win,and Cheaper

Remember that chap Jelavic we looked at? We didn't want to know if i can remember right.

Yeah, and look how he turned out for Everton.
Damn!, we missed out big time.

Thats why i think taking a chance on hooper isnt a bad idea as he was far better player than jelevic in scotland
i also think he would find life in the priemier league fine as 95% of his goals are tap ins basically he is a natural goal scorer

10 Jun 2012 22:54:53
Poland manager said Lewondoski to man u, Blazchacowski and Pichzeck (sorry for spelling) to England, any chance of Liverpool getting them? And if not who will get them?
Liverpower

10 Jun 2012 22:48:35
Press Agree if you love the EDS because i do.

I admire their time, patience & knowledge...but would I seranade them all whilst sqaushed in a gondola down a Venetian waterway is questionable.

...am I now banned?

Tika taka football ?
Rodgers likes Tika taka football.
Every European manager is trying to work out how to break down this system.
It is already obsolete.
Liverpool will try to use it when the smart guys have worked it out. And destroyed it.
Just watch the Euros.
Tika taka is finished.
Somebody tell Liverpool.
Duh....

And the system we used last year was poor cos nearly all the teams below us took points off us.

Looks like our opposition is getting worried! LOL

MR EM

You just made me hungry...mmmm chicken tikka

Gav

If I can work out the frailties of the 'Tika taka' system. So can a professional manager.
Lots of mid-fielders and no strikers works with Lionel Messi. How many teams have Lionel Messi ?
In the past Liverpool won because of Fowler, Rush and Aldridge etc.
That is the difference.

Hate to say it but the OP has a point.

BR's system is not simple tikki-takka, he has stolen the possession-based fluency and ball-retention ideology of the Spanish and merged it with the positional fluency and off-the-ball intelligence from the Dutch. The Ulsterman has married this with Mourinho's coaching ethos and psychology. He demands tactical discipline and scrupulous attention to detail; yet his teams play free-flowing, intelligent, creative football.

This is why he will get the most out of players and it is destined to be a success.

Cheers JY

Someone's watched Spain v Italy

It amazes me how people can watch the same game as me and draw completely different conclusions. Not saying my opinion is better than yours, or vice versa, but what exactly is your point?

Would you rather we aspire to short passing expressive football with technically gifted players, or functional athletic football from a hardworking, long ball side?

(not saying we were long ball, just comparing the 2 extremes)

Joe

Totally agree.
Its obsolete.
Chelsea worked out how to beat it with 10 men (against Barca).
Its pretty, but damn frustrating and long_winded to watch.
If BR uses this, then we need the players to execute it...sorry to say, we do not have those players!.

I think it's great to watch, and yes it can be beaten, but so can any system, so Barca can play this style for years on end, win league titles and champs league, but when they lose a couple of matches to teams that park the bus, people say it's obsolete? You cannot win every match, and if parking the bus as Inter and Chelsea did really worked, Barca would've been relegated from La Liga wouldn't they, but no, they still finished second and were still much better to watch than RM. Even Xavi labelled RMs title win a "efficient" i'd rather be expressive and win trophies than "efficient"

There are no words to describe what some of you are. To avoid being banned I'll take a punt at 'infuriating'. The media make up players we are linked with and you criticise the club for it. BR plays his brand of football, which the media wrongly calls tiki taka and you buy it no questions asked, and then attack the club for it. Other than the fact that BR doesn't play pure tiki taka, his methods will continually evolve as that is how he works, studying the game. You'd know this if you bothered to read about our new manager.
As for working out tiki taka, its funny how must teams can't, barca are considered the best footballing side in the world and arguably club side of all time. Chelsea won because, unusually, barca missed the target repeatedly. They battled hard and hung on for dear life. It works some time's and that's all they could do, but 8 or 9 times out of 10 you lose.
Hopefully cleared that up, and all you doom merchants can go off to find something else pathetic to attack the club with.

SCF27

RE Tiki Taka :Brendan Rodgers is not signing his replies !

The OP does not have a point.

A system (tiki-taka or long ball) does not win you the game automatically, otherwise every team would play a certain way. Tiki Taka played by Hartlepool (no offense) will not beat long ball played by Stoke (no offense).
It's about how well the team plays the system, how well the players fit the system and how adaptable they are as a team to changes over the 90 minutes.
Tiki Taka is all the rage because it looks pretty to watch, but were Swansea that much more effective than Stoke last season?
The team wins you a game, not a system.

just thought i wouldlet use know LUIS SUAREZ has given the thumbs up to new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers by admitting he is a huge fan of his style of play. look it up. great news for us andylfc

Yawn. What Suarez is or is not saying is largely irrelevant at this point. If a large enough bid comes in, owners will sell him. If he stays, he needs to shape up.

10 Jun 2012 21:46:35
Nothing better than seeing a player come through the ranks and make it at your club. We havnt had this for a while. Carragher, gerrard, owen, fowler, mcmanaman, and to some degrees matteo, marsh etc. Spearings tried, but just not good enough. Kelly hopefully will be the next regular. I know we've seen flanaghan and robinson, and a couple of appearances from sterling, just hope they and others like suso, morgan, and coady dont go the same way as guthrie and hammill. We are going to have to produce quality youngsters in the future so that we can spend what money we have on quality players. Man utd were fortunate to get a crop of young players through together in beckham, giggs, scholes, butt, and the nevilles which saved them millions over the years, and benefitting from it still. lets hope that we get a crop of similar players coming through in the near future

Press agree if you would actually be happy and confident of doing well/competeing with the big boys next season if we purchased: Sigurdsson to solve our creative problems, De Jong to score goals, Jarvis/Moses to beat a man on the wing, Dempsey as attacking cover.
Disagree if you feel that we need to stop buying players from mid table premier league sides and start looking else where for talent as Downing, carroll, Henderson and Adam have all showed that the leap from a small prem club to a big one can be just as big as the jump from another league to the prem.
I vote for disagree as you may have guessed.

Yeah, i can see it clearly now. We go for Jarvis, sirguardson and other top names while Chelsea sign Hazzard, Hulk and god knows who else. Man, the must be absolutely crapping themselves. But dont worry, big Bredan is gonna close the massive gap in quality with his "tika taka" football and his big fu#king magic wand. Give me strenght!
The Irish Rover

You do realise this website has nothing to do with Henry, Werner and even Rodgers, so it's a pointless exercise. We have no say in these matters

Seeing as our problem was scoring goals sigurdson = 7 dempsey =19 de jong 76 appearances + 39 goals we had no problems creating chances last year just finishing them id be quite happy with the 3 mentioned above the other 2 not so much but throw sausetta in id be quite happy with that

The thing is it ain't chelsea, it's abramovich so their manager will have to play them regardless of what they think, a lap dog if you will. hazard ain't no great shakes.

How narrow minded. A few examples for you:
Ian Rush- Chester
Ian St. John- Motherwell
John Barnes- Watford
John Aldridge- Oxford Utd.
Ray Clemence- Scunthorpe Utd.
Bruce Grobbelaar- Vancouver Whitecaps
Emlyn Hughes- Blackpool
Alan Hansen- Partick Thistle

I can go on if need be.

Redjinal

It's not all about big name signings a la man chitty and chelski. I think that our owners are looking for brendan and co to seek out value for money signings. I don't mean dirt cheap signings, but rather players who undervalued by the market (moneyball?) or younger players that we could make a profit on in the future. I don't expect us to spend 35 million on a player this summer. This is just my view on of course.

D Steve

@redjinal
All prayers you mentioned were from yesteryear... The gap between small and big clubs have grown too mouch now...and even if a chester team makes another ian rush what chances do we have to get him... It's pointless comparing the success we had in 70' s and 80's with todays decision making... new age new decision making... Lets hope whatever happens will be for the best... YNWA...

The difference now as compared to the 70s and 80s is that modern players are way way way overrated and overpriced. That is the only difference.

Modern players have not gotten better than the ones in the 70s and 80s. And the players of those eras were far better priced than the ones of today.

All these people going on about theses signings will have been the same when we was rumoured to be after jelavic look how that turned out

10 Jun 2012 21:34:01
any possibility of xabi alonso coming back to liverpool ??

The Eds just love you.

ACHILLES.

10 Jun 2012 21:29:18
Now steve clark has left do liverpool need a number 2 ? When is rogers back from holliday?

He's brought in his own staff from Swansea.
KJS

10 Jun 2012 21:25:00
Mandzukic playing for Croatio currently a free agent. Could be a decent signing?

10 Jun 2012 21:21:26
Some fans are so annoying,stating that we should buy adam johnson....FOR WHAT.Not that i dont rate the player but we already have a left winger in downing,so what,s the need for another.if we are to buy a right winger which is necessary ,then a natural right winger should be bought.Last season,it was so annoying seeing our coach placing a right footed player on the left wing (bellamy),and vice versa(downing).if we buy adam john son as replacement for kuyt,then it means that we would have two left wingers on both wings which will not be good.you cannot name any premier league that uses left players on both wings.so in conclusion,i would say NO TO JOHNSON.

That is so they can cut in from their wing and shoot with their stronger foot I'm guessing that was the thinking at the time not that they did much

Which would make them inside forwards.

Surely this only works if they do cut inside and shoot - neither did that much. I've no problem with wingers swapping over frequently to see if they get any joy with a different approach, but we didn't do that either.

10 Jun 2012 21:11:49
BREAKING NEWS ian rush gets a recall after hearing were getting bentner he thinks he will still be able to score more goals!

10 Jun 2012 21:05:22
how come pepe riena doesnt use the number 1 shirt?is it something to do with his father who was also a keeper? would appreciate it if someone could help

I thought it was because his 1st child was born on 25th day of a month (I don't know which one) and so it's in honour of them. I may be wrong though.

JinB JFT96

Its a joke of his. he says he is the 25th member of the spain squad.

10 Jun 2012 20:49:19
What are the chances of both Suso and Sterling going on loan this season?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - Search function please.}

Cant see sterling going out on loan though i can see suso to strenthen him up a tad think it would be til jan though chhers mal,,

10 Jun 2012 20:40:44
It's a travesty that the best player of his generation has not won the Premier League title, when other players not even fit to lace his boots have......!

Good on you Stevie G - a loyal club legend, club captain, England captain.....simply the best - Captain Fantastic!

KAT

Fact is he has'nt has he and never will,he he should have gone to chelsea where he would have 3 prem medals now he had the chance to join them but chose not to. daveEFC.

Because he's loyal and loves the club. Get back to you own page you bluenose sh1te.

But only if abramovich wanted him, as he buys the players and picks the team, ancelotti didn't want torres and neither did AVB,

At least he has some medals unlike any 1 who has played for everton has since 1995 what has tim cahil won or leghton baines. The only ones in your team that has won anything is your man u rejects and it certainly weren't with you and its not looking likely any time soon baines going to man u fellaini going to chelsea its looking bleak over your way

Typical blue nose what are you doing on here go find your fish page that you lot go on why are you on ours

He won the CL instead. Far better.

Steven Gerrard has won every club team European medal worth winning and every domestic club team medal bar a league medal.

I personally think he's done quite well for himself at our club and he's also been an excellent captain over the years.

10 Jun 2012 20:33:20
Seb Coates has just scored for Uraguay aginst Peru, very talented player hopefully given more of a chance next season.

Watching gaston ramirez looks good finding lots of space excellent with both feet, playing jus behind the strikers.

ACHILLES.

Ed seen a interview with andy carrol.And he said its easier to settle with 9 people from Liverpool.I take it three are back room staff.Do you no who they are mate cheers.MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - Matty - I see the words but have no idea what they mean.}

He may have all the right words but not necessarily in the right order!!!

Stay off the 'green' MATTY mate. I hear it causes long term brain damage and memory loss.

So I hear...

Eds,
I posted this suggestion last night and apparently it was abit late...one if the eds suggested to post it again ( if i understood him correctly!)
In any case...here it is again!
-----
eds,
not a rumour or a question
rather a suggestion!
how about adding a section here to the youth and reserve squads of liverpool.
where people can post there queations regarding the suso's
and sterling's of liverpool..
what do u think?
liver4ever {Ed002's Note - The thing is that there are a lot of pages already and the questions about Suso and RS are always pretty much the same. So I don't think it would be something we would consider.}

I respect that...but i didnt mean just about suso and sterling..i meant about the whole youth and reserve players...transfers and comments and observations regarding all these players in these squads....but yes it seems there is alot of pages already indeed...thanx for the reply

10 Jun 2012 20:02:16
I really hope we steer clear of Johnson and sturridge. We have cursed English luck whatever you want to call it but I think we should save and spend on cheaper just as good foreign players.
Love the site eds keep it up!

ET

We are not English we are scouse! We can't have their curse

What the hell does that mean were not English were Scouse? Pathetic!! I'm a born and bread Scouser I'm English and very proud of the fact. I spent 22yrs in the Army and fought for my country. I am English and proud of it.

Elmo96 {Ed016's Note - Thank you for your service and giving your life to our country. Much respect. I truly appreciate it.}

Well said and well done Elmo96

What's the status of Honda seems like such a great talent ? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. Recent enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo and Lazio nearly signed him in January. I suspect Lazio remains the most likely destination but Liverpool could revive their interest. Talk of a move to Arsenal periodically arises. Perhaps one for the January window.}

See this is what frustrates me! we give up on quality players when the asking price gets too high like honda, mata etc. Yet when Downings price kept rising we were quite happy to splash 19m on him. So now we will loose another top class not too expensive player to a club who aren't seen as good as us, just like we lost Turan to Athletico even after they finished 10th in the league - we could of easily got him if we put any effort into trying to sign him up. Really frustrates me.

10 Jun 2012 19:50:04
ed do you remember who the eastern european defensive midfielder was who we were linked with in 2010? its wrecking my head! thought he was croatian but apparently not! thanks! {Ed002's Note - No one comes to mind.}

Tomas Sivok?

I can remember us being linked with Srna (Croatian) but he isn't a CDM?

How about the legend that was igor biscan :) joke obviously!

I think Cana is who you are thinking of, formerly of Sunderland?

Iv had it with the negativity surrounding our current position. We are a club in transition and i don't think some fans realise how close we were to going under a couple of seasons ago. We've been stabilised and should look forward we have got a bright future under these owners who do things sensibly and pragmatically. I guarantee we would be mentioned as one of the biggest clubs in English and European football ahead of the likes of Spurs and Man city, they may be having a period of short term success, but were here for the long haul we are the giants that are Liverpool football club. YNWA JFT96

R@

Are Liverpool fans still moaning? We have a new manager I believe in and no signings to talk of, just media rubbish being reported. Have they learned nothing? The lack of press release in appointing manager should tell them we do notmwash our laundry in public! Moan when you you know what is happening, otherwise lighten up and have faith... AND support the club and manager!
Bazzaa

Lets face it man citys reserve squad is better the ours it will take longer then 5 years

We've been in transition for 20 years now haven't we?

If you think man city's reserve squad is better than our first team ill have a half ounce of what your smoking they may be some good players in their reserve squad but hardly any of them would get in our team and if you think im wrong i suggest you check out their reserve team you won't recognize any of the names on the list

Its fair to say man city reserves are better they have cost more and would walk into most sides which cant be said of liverpools first team

10 Jun 2012 19:42:29
Good evening eds and fellow reds :) I've been away for a while.....(well since Kenny left actually)......since then I have to say I'm impressed with FSG's handling of things. They really know the meaning of the term 'keeping things under wraps'. I'm intrigued to see what signings we make and even which players we bid for but may not get (showing our ambitions, with the kind of players we try to aquire).
People did say these guys are 'ruthless'....let's see

Just to say on BR, as I have stated before his appointment.....I had my reservations....(I still kind of do). However, he is LFC manager now so he will get my support!

Oh just for the record, if I could tie up 4 people and give them bitch slaps for an hour.....the 4 I would choose would be Barton, Whelan, Hicks and Gillett!!

Thanks for your time

K. Bennett

Good choices there keith i would go with 3 of yours barton hicks and gillett and on the last week and his comments about lfc it would have to be mark lawrenson maybe any of the talk sport presenter's lol
riley

Can I add Tony Hibbert to that list please?

10 Jun 2012 19:41:08
Hello Liverpool fans and the ever hard working Eds,

I want our illustrious club to buy a player of the like of.... Patrik Berger.
Was there ever a more hard working player in Liverpool?
Loved that guy.
Bazzaa

{Ed006's Note - Kuyt, but yeah Berger was class.}

Way too old mate

10 Jun 2012 19:35:01
Best of luck to the Irish tonight, a win will get you half way there and you have the players to take the Cro-ats out.
To the Irish reds, you have my full supports and hopes for success in this tournament.
Bazzaa

Forgot to say your supporters are F***ing great.
Bazzaa

Sh*t, early goal can be a danger to team the team in lead! They don't have Robbie Keane after all.

If anybody finds a whistle, it's mine :P

10 Jun 2012 19:01:25
If Suarez could time his runs like Torres he would score far more goals. Though Iniesta hitting through balls to him would also help!

Torres pace has left him,looked like he was wearing concrete boots...

Hel come good

10 Jun 2012 18:51:25
I must say Italy are looking quite good for once, very organised defence despite the goal. If I was a manager I would be watching this and also looking at De Rossi.
Forget Di Natale rumours, he's 34!
Come home Alonso, your superb.
Bazzaa

Didn't De Rossi just sign a new deal at Roma that makes him the highest paid in Serie A?

phillyred

Just saying, he played very well in defensive midfield and can take a lot from how he plays. Not a signing mate.
Bazzaa

10 Jun 2012 18:40:17
Just seen Buffon tackle Torres and I've been saying for years keepers should do that more often. Much harder for the attacker if the keeper stays on his feet

Chris in Tamworth

To be fair Torres was Italy's best player when he came on.

This made me laugh! He was Italy's best player for sure. If it had been Villa, Spain would have won.

True, still hard to believe we got £50m for the dud

10 Jun 2012 18:35:20
Hessle red (and others), maybe FSG have a little more sense than we give them. Fantasy football only works if your the richest owners in the league. Even then, it only seems to offer brief success. Roman bought the league title for Chelsea a couple of years back, but they are now essentially an ageing side who need a complete overhaul ( I am ignoring the CL win, which had a touch of the Greek 2004's about it). They have been overtaken again since they last won the league by a Man U side who (I hate to say it) aren't the most expensive squad anymore, and Man City who are.
The point I'm making is that a successful set up and philosophy should ensure that we ate there and thereabouts each and every year (Arsenal?) rather than up and down like yo yo's. FFS Blackburn bought the title not so long ago. It DOESN'T last. Chelsea will probably spend big in order to succeed again. Man City will continue to buy success, for now. Much as I can't stand old whisky nose, he has run his club with a long term goal. This is what we have lost sight of recently. So forget the fantasy football signings, let's get back to playing the football we are capable of, and let's hope our side is made up of players proud to play the 'Liverpool way' whether they're from the brought from the academy, bought from Chester city for 30k or from Real Madrid for 30m.

Was that all too serious?

More importantly, are we likely to sign this ken Aguero bloke I googled this morning? Heard he would fit right in the PL...

Bigbadben

I feel that fsg are playing the long game and hoping that ffp rules will be adhered to hence trying to make the club commercially viable and expand the global brand.however if the ffp rules turn out to be the sham I suspect they are and UEFA lets the rules be bent or broken then u will see fsg exploring ways of renegotiating tv rights abroad and not being shackled by the current rigid system also I believe they would not be opposed to a break away league where revenue is fought for and negotiated with individual clubs they are shrewd business men and feel this is the best and fairest way to compete.just my opinion
kiss the badge YNWA

Abramovich is buying players that the next manager will be forced to play, not a very attractive proposition {Ed002's Note - Chelsea are not doing anything that unusual. Managers are just one input to the process - the Director of Football, advisors. coaching staff, scouts and indeed the owner all have their part to play. What do you think will be happening at Liverpool?}

Maybe ed, but i don't see henry buying a player for lfc, i don't see br having any of that

I don't know if I was a mgr I would not be unhappy with Roman's buys

Henry does not have the money to buy players like Roman

Do you think Henry could just go off and buy hazard? No Bleedin chance in hell!

10 Jun 2012 18:33:47
i think we should try and get adam johnson, and also james milner as a replacement for maxi and kuyt.

northern red

You can't replace Kuyt, players like him and Berger played for the club.
Players too focused on big payday rather than prestige! Eg Hazard to Chelsea.
Bazzaa

10 Jun 2012 18:31:51
We can't get too excited about the new manager because he sounded good in a press conference and were being linked with Bendtner what the hell!
Should be looking at quality like Modric and another striker, wouldn't mind Bent he is a pure goalscorer and would link up well with Suarez who's not exactly a goalscorer!
Come on reds need to start being realistic were poor and the manager ain't going to set the world a light, just need to settle down for a couple of years get back around the top 6 and then maybe the likes of Jose and Pep and genuine world class will join the Liverpool rollercoaster!

RONNIE

Are you Ronnie Moran? You think BR is a caretaker until we can sign pep or Jose? Oh yes, then we can sign messi as well. Perhaps you should get yourself a taxi up the M62...
Or you could always get yourself behind OUR manager, and OUR team.

YNWA means something. Do you prefer you'll never walk alone, until Jose is available, then can you go please?
Stick to Fifa manager, and good luck with your GCSE's....

Bigbadben

Yes Lets all excited about Brendan Rogers

BR has a years experience in the EPL as MGR

Lets see Chelsea have an unlimited budet and the pick of experienced MGRs

Citeh have unlimited budget and an experienced EPL MGR who has just won the EPL

United have Fergie enough said,

Yes BR will do wonders

Ronnie m8 chill don't sweat , don't think we will look at bendtner at all never mind sign him have faith with BR and bit ov luck we can do ok this season , I doubt some ov the players can not play any worse or have less luck then last season keep the faith my m8 YNWA kk Lfc linc

What a prat!
Why cant you be positive and give the man a chance?
Not a game played or a ball kicked and we have got idiots predicting the future and we really dont need this type of support,we need to give 100% support to management and team and ensure we move forward together.
Ronnie go and support a team who are already winning trophies along the M62 and keep changing your colours when times get bad.

Derek

What's wrong with people?
Fergie (Aberdeen), arsene wenger ( some godforsaken place in Japan), Bill Shankly (Huddersfield), Bob paisley (no previous), joe fagin(no previous), Kenny dalglish ( no previous). Get the picture? Managers are a bit like players - getting hung up on the big names is for the soulless billionaires. The irony is, the 'most successful manager' we've employed in the last thirty years is - Roy Hodgson'. I rest my case.

Bigbadben.

"chelsea have unlimited budget" ? and the owner is buying the players that the new manager will be forced to play, no manager worth their salt would take the job, only a a lap dog {Ed002's Note - Clearly no grasp of what the situation is.}

Thought it was Rafa meself

Is that so ? chelsea have no manager but the owner is signing players, similar to torres who ancelotti did not want, but anything to massage his ego i suppose :-) {Ed002's Note - Perhaps you should see if Mr Abramovich wants the Liverpool manager's job because he has been pretty successful at winning the league?}

Yes but that's wen mourinho was manager and he had a lot more control of team affairs than subsequent managers. That's one of the reasons he left...cos abromovich tried to stick his oar in. So yes chelsea won the league but it's just like man city they bought the title. As for the champions league, they are worst and luckiest team ever to have won it! Biggy Balls

Ed002, Abramovich did great at winning the league with his billions, I would pay to watch him do it without having to actually buy the league, that's nothing to be proud of. Abramovich and Mansour represent everything thats wrong with the EPL, I wouldnt want him within a million miles of LFC

Roman sacked The special one

He did not leave because of Romans interference

Roman wanted a better type of football than jose offered

Spain vs Italy, very good game right now, hoping for a better 2nd half.

Kaizer

Did any one see the liverpool banner in the spain v italy game with the words the legend returns (is alonso comig back?) red mick tag

Boring boring boring ..... it's LFC banter remember

To the guy who wrote boring boring boring you could choose to ignore it let it go over your head rather than getting upset because some 1 didn't mention lfc lol they isn't a right lot going on with lfc at the moment and if you hadn't noticed their is a football tournament going on at least he didn't mention half of the players and ask any chance lol

Nonsense, that was a cracking game. A bit different but I found it really interesting.

HI eds

two questions:

Are liverpool signing aly cissokho or daniel sturridge?

Do you think wanyama could come to lfc from celtic as the clubs r good friends?

he is good. {Ed016's Note - NO to sturrdige, not heard anything on Cissokho and if you play in the SPL you're not good enough for the EPL}

Jelavic? Think ed might be wrong..

Greedy9

Jelavic hasn't done too badly since moving from the SPL...

Henrik larsson

Right so other than jelavic and henrik larson what has the spl ever done for us lol

Wanyama is a top player, might be a bit young still. it's garbage that he wants a move, it was in the record in scotland which is at the same level as the sun/mirror for reliability, no quotes etc

Kenny D. {Ed016's Note - Recent times there has been very few.}

The aquaduct?

Arteta was from spl

I appreciate we are not in Europe's elite anymore, but some of the average names we are being linked with is very disturbing. If FSG were so bothered about restoring us to where we should be they should pay what it takes. I know this might not be a popular view but how else can we get into the Champions League - surely it's a risk/reward business at the moment. When I see who the top teams are already buying and then I see who we are linked with it begs the question 'how on earth will we get in the top 4 next season?'.

Sorry for my pessimism but it has to be said.

Hessle Red {Ed002's Note - Why blame the owners who have thrown very large sums of money at the club?}

Don't blame FSG for not coming 4th last season - £35 million striker used only as a bit part player. £16 million central midfielder played on right wing instead of Dirk Kuyt who contributes a dozen goals a season from that position, £20 million Downing who looked as if he didn't know where he should be playing. A goalkeeper who looked as if he would have been better playing centre forward - because he didn't stop many that were on target. And of course the obvious - FSG certainly did not make the decision to give Spearing so much playing time - you don't have to look far to apportion the blame - the players and the manager - not FSG.

John B

What is Tottenham's, Newcastle's and Arsenal's net spend last season compared to ours? When was the last time any of those clubs spent +£20m on a player?

Yet all of these teams finished above us and challenged for the top four last season. Arsenal never spend big but are able to constantly finish in the top four.

We're never going to be able for the 'top players' when competing against City and Chelsea, so rather than buy established players we need to buy the next big thing before they are the next bid thing.

JRG

I know all that, my point is we are being linked with average names and how will they improve the team compared to what we have now. It is clear we need to spend at least £100m just to compete. In all considerations they haven't spent THAT much on transfers - net spend is reportedly £35-40m, ok I know there are other things on top of that but it really isn't that much in the grand scheme of things when 3 competitors are spending a lot more.

Hessle Red

Hessle Red

With all due respect Ed, I usually sit on the fence when it comes down to £ and $...

But from my perspective they certainly haven't thrown sums of money about! If they had done their due dilligence correctly the 'stadium costs' should have been accounted for, therefore, not affecting our ability to spend in the transfer market.

The net spend is rather low, in my opinion, considering they bought the club on the cheap(!).. If you read between the lines somewhat, there is definitely a cutting edge to these owners and I expect things to change massively within 3 years.

Still undecided on whether it's going to be bright or gloomy..

Lee YNWA {Ed002's Note - What about the £50M loss the season before last - who picked up the tab for that. There is a similar or greater loss for the season just finished - again who will pick up the tab for that? People look at transfers and nothing else - but there is a much bigger picture when running a business like Liverpool.}

Very true ed002! How much of that £50 million loss was buying players? Did big John not see the near £50 million of stadium plans etc on the balance sheet when the club was purchased? Does writing this off get Liverpool into the top 4? Also im pretty sure he must have looked at our squad when we were taken over. You know Poulsen,Konchesky,Cole,Babel,Aqua,Kyriakos etc etc and knew the job to be done. Its not as if we kept Torres and added Suarez and Carroll! Now that would have been a statement of intent. But its ok, let Chelsea spend £50 on Torres, they didnt get rid of Drogba! £40 million on Hazzard, £25 million on Mata, possibly Hulk £40 million. Yet the only way we will spend £50 million this year is by selling Suarez. Like i said earlier, its like getting into top 4 with one hand tied behind your back. Yeah great statement big John! Top 4 my arse!

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Players are entirely transient and are not tangible assets of the business.}

I think we need at least another season? Before we start bearing fruit,Like Ed said another £50M loss this season is massive on top of last (poss £100m)in losses. This will need turning around before we can start looking towards the future.We need to make money before spedning vast amounts of it. Although i did read something interesting,When FSG took over the Red sox, they had 30odd sponsors', in the short time of owning them they have now over 95! That's amazing,the income they must produce,also backed a young inexperienced coach and they won the world series(correct me if i'm wrong,baseball not my thing) within two years. So like we keep mentioning patients is the key here. Just look forward to the coming season and see what they brings.
Lee73

Ok, putting it simply. Fans only look at transfers because that is what will get us into the top 4. So far Fsg net spend on players is £45 million? Or slightly more than an Eden Hazzard so to speak.

Im not a ranter on this site (not usually) but surely Fsg have to spend a fair amount on the Team to make us competative at the top end of the league.

While im getting this of my chest. Do Fsg really care about Liverpool winning the League? Is there objective to get us into the top 4 with all the riches it brings. How much would they have to invest in players and wages to really take on Citeh and Chelsea? Are they willing to do that? Honestly, i dont think so! Top 4 and good CL runs would be more than enough for Liverpool to turn a good profit each year. Naming rights for a re-developed Anfield without having to dip into their own pockets keeps the debt down, yet gives Liverpool the global opportunity to expand and in return make Liverpool a more valuable club.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - You cannot compare net spend to the cost of one player - it makes no sense at all.}

Why don't you give FSG a chance?

Is it not obvious we do not have hundreds of millions to blow on players like City and Chelsea (an unsustainable path) and that we are pursuing a different model based on developing our own players (like Barca), in order to create a team that can challenge?

Are you oblivious to everything that is being done at the academy level?

And this does not even count the 100 million wasted by Kenny and Comolli.

Some people seem seem to be only interested in picking on FSG.

FSG do have millions to spend, but thats not their style, spotting young talent and bringing them through is more their style. IF the odd player does come up,then the moneys there. We will most likely have the youngest team in the EPL in a couple of seasons, i could be wrong?
Lee73

Use your head m8...it's all paper talk. That's because FSG have let nothing out. In fact, is BR even back from holiday yet?

Somebody Give ITV a ring and tell em Adrian Chiles is
Not Funny and if they want a comedy hire a comedian!!

It would help if he knew anything about football - which he obviously doesn't.

Have you seen him in HD? Very disturbing haha

Dave Whelan perhaps? Biggest comedian in the North West

I still can't believe that after so many years of hosting football, he still has to constantly ask the same questions and say the same things, Example 'So Roy, what went wrong in defence there?' Then Roy Keane say's something and Adrian jus basically repeats him, you'd think by now he'd know these things, lol.

We seem to gothrough cycles of a group of names on here that everyone says are coming, at the momment it's De Jong, Munian, Lorente, Johnson and a few others, and Cole, Aqualani and Johnson to leave because of wages and contracts etc.
I was wondering Ed are there players we are currently showing interest in further afield? South America for instance. for a long time now other european teams have been importing south american talent relatively cheaply, and then we have been paying a lot more for them one or two years down the line.
The obvious thing to do is to cut out the middle man surely?
RNred

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have an active scouting network in South America and already have an agreement with one side in Uruguay regarding youth players.}

Thanks for the reply, I was just wondering if there was any specific players we were currently looking at signing. The matches Ive been to see in Brazil and Uragauy have allways impressed me technically, and with the current trend in europe to play this way more it seems a logical hunting ground for young talent.
RNred {Ed002's Note - Signing or not Liverpool are looking at players. One in particular that I mentioned the other day has been looked at but it simply opened the door up to some pretty vile abuse again. I made it clear then that there will be much less from me in that respect.}

10 Jun 2012 16:43:24
Hi Ed, Long time Reader, I believe that we will sign Mohamed Diame and Gylfi Sigurdsson, after these signings we still need a right winger and a striker, do you know of Liverpool intrest in any players in these postions (except de Jong)

Thanks

DJS

How did you come to that conclusion mate?

10 Jun 2012 16:42:54
Hi ed's. Do you think liverpool will look to get some players in early ready for pre-season? I know transfer window in Europe not open till 1st July but it would be helpful to get the players in as early as possible and hopefully be raring to go for the first game. We seem to do a lot of our deals much later in the transfer window. I remember last summer we played a lot of fringe players all pre-season who didn't start the first few games. Interesting to know what you think? {Ed002's Note - We cannot say when any deals will be completed.}

10 Jun 2012 16:42:05
eds maybe you should save your answers on a word document and use copy and paste when you get asked the same question. {Ed002's Note - The standard answers are dealt with rather like that.}

Hi Eds, please post this on rumours.....no rumour just a comment!
Why don't you have music playing in the background on this site? I recommend Sonny and Cher "I got you babe"......because it's like Groundhog day!!
How many times can you answer the same question about A Johnson, Sigurdsson, Muniain, Luk de Jong???
I can't wait for the new season!! Don't need a lot in.....just a bit of quality to finish us off.....we battered most teams but couldn't finish them off BR will be the man to make us great again.....
Typical I bet on the Dutch and RVP or OMT (one man team) as I call him couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo!! Pity he wasn't like that in March at Anfield when we buried the Arse but got beat!! I rest my case!!

10 Jun 2012 16:21:56
Diame - free
Sigurdsson - £7m
Muniain - £23m - £25M
dos Santos - £4M
Juan Vargas £4M + Aquilani
Luuk de Jong £13M

players in = 51-53m

Kuyt - £4m (including wages)
Adam - £6m
Spearing - £3m
Amoo - free
Wilson - £1m
Pacheco - £1m
Aurelio - free
Cole - £5m
players out = 19m

Net = £35m

Would be great but sign Affelay instead of Dos Santos.

Hi ed's

Wondered if any of you had any info regarding what our scouting / development operations are like further afield from UK / Europe.

We have (from first hand witness) huge support in the far east and with the sheer number of people out there, there must be a gem or two in the J League, China, Thailand, Malaysia etc. Also the U.S, Africa, Australia & South America. Most of our purchases of recent times are coming through UK & Mainland Europe but I thought I heard we were setting up agreements & development centres in these relatively untapped markets.

Also can you please update on the situation with Texeira, Bueno and if we followed up our interest in the Jaguares centre forward?

Cheers guys (and gal)

Not transfer or lfc related but did anyone watch the brazil v argentina game? Heard a lot about some of these brazilians without seeing much of them but neymar was impressive along with oscar. Didn't think much of hulk(apart from a decent finish for his goal) or damiao considering their reputations.

fernando llorente has a year left on his contract i doubt he is going too be sold for some of the prices alot of you have come up with , he will be fairly cheap for a player of his ability

lw12

If this is correct we have to at least try for him.
Get a package together and make an offer. There's nothing to lose really.

We should also go for the following.

R. Elm AZ Alkmaar. 5-8 million.
I. Affelay Barcelona. 6-9 million.
G. Sigurdson Hoffenheim. 6-7 million.
S. Defour. Benfica. 7-12 million.
I. Munian. A. Bilbao. 20-25 million.
G. Ramirez Bologna. 15-20 million.

Sell.
Adam 5-6 million.
Spearing 1-3 million.
Rodriguez 1-2 million.
Downing 8-12 million.
Eccleston 1-4 million.
Aqualani 4-6 million.

Roughly 20-33 million.

Thought defour played for porto?

10 Jun 2012 14:30:10
Ed,
This really isn't a rumour more of a question. I know there is no real answer apart from wait and see but i would value you opinion.

Do you feel that LFC have now entered a different era, one in which we will have to work on a much smaller budget and have to seriously downgrade the type of player we can go for.

Pundits talk about us "not shopping at the top table any more", And this appears to be correct with the players we are currently being linked with eg Jarvis from Wolves, moses from Wigan.

If this is correct I fear we are on the downward slope. But having said all that it was only a year or so ago that the owners splashed the cash and they have a reputation in the US for spending when they need too. Whatever i will keep the faith but i'm sure you will agree people fear the worst.

what do you think? {Ed002's Note - The owners have spent vey large amounts of money on Liverpool and will continue to be supportive - within reason.}

Not a massive net amount on the playing side which im sure you will agree is the bit that will push them into that holy grail of top 4. You watch Chelsea spending £40/ 50 million on a player, Citeh buying 2 quality teams & Man Utd being linked with all and sundry. Its like trying to compete with one hand tied behind your back. Not good!

The Irish Rover

I agree mate

Manc u arsenal spurs everton and newcastle all competed with chelski and manc city no reason for us not to we just need to pick right and play right .

Alright ed guillem balague put on his twitter that Brendan Rodgers is over with the Spanish squad after he put him in touch with del bosque, just a couple of questions regarding that.
A. Can u confirm this is the case?
B. In what capacity is he there?
C. When was this arranged ie, before or after Liverpool appointment? {Ed002's Note - This is old and has been dealt with.}

I would like to know if it was balague that put him in touch or is he just blowing his own trumpet as per usual lol

Sorry edds must of missed this story can u enlighten me about it or wat i have to type in to search fuction to find it my self cheers

mike {Ed002's Note - Balague apparently said on Twitter that he had hooked up Rodgers with a visit to the Spanish training camp a couple of weeks back. He was there to look at the training being carried out. The Tweet was after his appointment and his legendary "LFC owners have decided to keep Dalglish" Tweet. It was referring to the pre Euro training so would have been a one or two session visit as an observer. I would make nothing of it at all.}

10 Jun 2012 13:59:06
Hi Eds. Just wondering is there any chance of us signing Raul Albiol at all? He is still only 26 and is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid. He may not initially be priority for us but if Skrtel leaves/Coates gets loaned out we are short at the back and I doubt Rodgers will want to use Carra all season. {Ed002's Note - If Albiol leaves this summer both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain will be interested.}

I would think Ed002, that if Madrid were to be interested in Agger we should milk them for all its worth and get Albiol and AT LEAST 15m, preferably 18m, it'll test their resolve and it would be a good deal with 18m to strengthen elsewhere! {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any RM interest in Agger.}

10 Jun 2012 13:44:20
Eds do you know when the players are back for pre season training? {Ed002's Note - It will vary depending on who is at the Olympics and who is at the Euros. The others may be back from around July 2 although it varies club-by-club.}

10 Jun 2012 13:55:34
why don't TV companies employ comedians with an interest in football to commentate and or co-commentate on tournament games? it's a simple game, we don't need monotonous analysis from keown etc. it would be much better to be able to sit down and watch poland v greece with frankie boyle and alan carr entertaining us as opposed to the usual boring unfunny simon brothertons of this world. lawro is just a laugh a minute

Alan Carr?!?!?!? His dad used to manage Northampton but why would you want to inflict that on your eardrums EVER?

I would settle for John Bishop, Ken Dodd, Jimmy Tarbuck and Stan Boardman. A mixture of good old fashioned clean wit and close to the knuckle humour.
Midsred

How have you forgotten John bishop?!

Realistic red

I remember during the Germany vs Serbia group game during the world cup there was an alternative commentary with Chris Moyles which was entertaining but he just added random sound effects and didnt know any of the players names especially the Serbians and Sweinstager

It's not a bad idea but it's nowhere near as good as the no commentary option on BBC. That is pure bliss.

Why do Liverpool fans go weak at the knees when Adam Johnston gets mentioned he can't get in the city side is over looked by England all the time and players like Milner zabaletta keep him out downing gets in england team before him and the last thing we need is a left footed right winger for big money he's a one trick pony who beats the full back regularly because hes attacking the full back on his wrong foot but he has no end product stay away

A johnson doesnt get in england team because not getting ist team football still better than downing

I have to say RTE 2 here in Ireland have the best pundrity for the Euros, Richie Sadlier aside ( okay we are allowed one), quality line up with Bill O'Herlihy, Liam Brady, Eammon Dunphy, John Giles and Didi Hamman. If ye get a chance check out Apres Match on Youtube, simply hillarious.

I am just waiting til tomorrow evening when some comes on here and say "Voronin looked quality".

im really getting fed up with no activity in the transfer market i know we cant sign players till july but can atleast put agreements into place like other teams p.s the owners need to dig deep this time after all they havnt really spent out on players all they seem interested in is sponsorships etc

Wow, it is already starting! You do know there is an International tournament in progress!

James Mc

Havent spent on players? where were you last year suarez carroll henderson downing adam enrique, theyve spent alot of money on players.

Surely this is a joke?
Any transfer negotiations will be done behind closed doors, and I don't think you can accuse the owners of being tight!

Fed up after our new manager has been in place for a full week??

"All they seem interested in is sponsorship"....

Sponsors income that enables the manager to spend on talent.

Oh wait no we should just try and run the club on gate receipts alone...

You really shouldn't be allowed on the internet unsupervised!

FatJanMolby

Yes they have spent money but dont forget how much money they made from sales of players such as torres, babel and the rest of them, they never bought those ayers in the first place so really they spent around 30 mill, thats not enough to revamp a team and get it in the top 4 in this day and age with about 8 teams good enough for the 4th place.

If they don't spend big on the cream of thr crop up and coming players it'll be hard but not impossible, they need to find some gems if they dont want to spend big money like the clubs with multi billionaire owners.

But we do have a bright future looking at our youth and reserve players. I rarher be successful the hard way than spend billions on players year after year until you win the trophy you want. {Ed002's Note - Who paid for the £50M losses the season before last? Who paid for the £50M or more losses the season just gone? You have no idea at all.}

What are you smoking? If van persie or huntalaar had their shooting boots on they would have won. Agger and Kjear battled well but they did not stop over 20 shooting opportunities.

So what? Still they dont score..I bet you are the happiest liverpool fan last season because whole of liverpool squad did the same thing last season...creating chances and shots on goal but not putting their shooting boot on...cant you just gave those two a little credit?

You can't blame Agger for Van Persie playing crap though -McMenemy

No but they stopped most of the ones that were on target

Rumours come from Spain that Liverppol are ready to reignite their interest in Llorente and exercise his release clause which is approx £30 mill. He was Liverppols first choice to replace Torres back in 2011 however we could not agree a deal with Bilbao and signed Carroll instead..

what you think eds...there is no doubting his ability, he is somewhat similar to carroll. Maybe technically better but will he fit in with Rogers style

Its because he is over helping spain or something. i wouldn't look much into it

Llorente most definitely could fit into the system. Look at Bilbao this season, and the way he has evolved from battering ram to all round forward under the tutelage of Bielsa

Also did we sign Mikel Zaton from Bilbao youth? Remember us being linked a few months back

RedSG

'he is somewhat similar to carroll'

thats why we have carroll. find another type of striker, soldado, luuk de jong for example.

Did anyone watch the Denmark v Holland game yesterday?
Daniel Agger and Simon Kjaer were a world class pairing in central defence.
With Carragher in his last years and Coates still not proven i think it would be a great move by LFC to attempt to buy Kjaer.
Then our centre backs would be Agger, Skrtel, Kjaer and Coates.

RedRocket

Ffs it was one game...

True, only one game. However, this is not the first time the pair have done well together. Kjaer would be a strong addition in my opinion, but he would have to accept that he would have to compete with Skrtel for a starting birth.

Also it was down to the dutch not converting their chances. they should've been 4 up at halftime

They were decent. They were nowhere near "world class"...whatever that means.

Ed's when do the fixtures for 2012-2013 fa premier eague come out?

Correct me if im wrong, but this is a 'rumours' page isnt it? Seems to have become the 'is there any chance' and 'what about' page!

FFS, leave the MoTD fever on the sofa or put it in the dream team section....

Has anyone actually heard anything that isnt just a repeat of this mornings lazy journalism?!

Red G

Actually this is the 'banter' page mate

10 Jun 2012 11:29:06
good morning chaps br is not going to sigh the usual players who get suggested is doesnt matter about the name or reputation y see its the performance and thats his skill so prepare yirsels for a very enjoyable season

I have a feeling brendan will be doing a lot of sighing come November

10 Jun 2012 11:18:42
I really dislike the fact everyone is interested in replacing carroll..hes an absolute animal & will have a great season this year.

And downing may have had one bad season but next year he could shine so give them a chance.

Agree with Carroll but downings mediocre at best.

Downing is a better winger than young so i think he can be world class

Adam Johnson is certainly no better than Downing on their day.

10 Jun 2012 11:15:15
Eds,
When do you think BR will start making bids for players. I understand the Euros are on and its difficult, but surely he must be making a start in terms of transfers soon?
Appreciate any feedback

Chris {Ed002's Note - It would be nothing but guesswork to say.}

Whats all this negativity about sigurdsson, i was a massive fan of his at reading he scored:
Apps 44 Goals 21 for reading
Apps 32 goals 10 for hoffenheim
Apps 19 Goals 7 for Swansea

Would be an excellent buy

Watch Danny Sturridge then watch Ngog....same player different name.....Personally I wouldnt be bothered about Sturridge rumours or not.
The Guv 81-9 YNWA JFT96

Be fair mate Sturridge is slightly better

Mate Sturridge is quality and will always score goals. N'gog is rubbish and will score a few. Chalk and cheese.

Sturridge is better but at the price difference between the two ngog is better for value.

It seems to me that if Skrtel is sold the owners lack any common sense. To start selling our best players would defo turn the fans against FSG. It seems that they have to sell to buy if this is the case then they should never have purchased the club. Also i think when we sold the club we should have put in a clause in the sale that any new owner would HAVE to have the money for a new ground. FSG have invested a lot don't get me wrong but they also made a lot from players sold and also got the club on the cheap maybe 150 to 200 million bellow market value.To me the seems like they want to sell very important players our best players and thats not in the best intrests of the club. If they sell suarez,johnson and Skrtel then im sure the replacements would not be as good as them. How do you replace a top defender like Skrtel without CL football. I think that the club will be mid table for years to come if we sell out best players as all the other teams above us are adding quality without selling. As a lifelong liverpool fan im really worried about the future i just dont think we are anywhere near the teams above us. I hate to say it but a large ammount of blame has to go to kenny as the money he spent could have been spent a lot more wisely and we would have had a better foundation instead of wasting huge ammounts on very average players. I not saying FSG should leave i just think they should think carefully before selling key players as there is no way we could replace them with the same quality.

PORK CHOP

We do not need to sell to buy the owners are very supportive within reason if skrtel goes its because he doesn't want to be here or fancy's a challenge somewhere else nothing to do with the owners wanting to cash in on him and they got the club on the cheap who is paying the 55 million losses from last year cos it certainly aint you or me try have a bit of patience over the new ground it takes time but hopefully we should here something soon your just 1 of those glass half empty guys who knows nothing about the finances at our club who thinks the magic pixies at the bottom of the garden pay the debts and fill our transfer coffers up the owners will be supportive its not even july the 1st when we can sign international players and your whingeing cos every other team has signed at least 1 you need some patience could understand it if it was august the 30th and we had no 1 but jeez get a grip sulking because man u and chelsea have got a player or 2

The club was one day from going bust, FSG saved them so give them a break it early and let's see what happen and how we get

If a player wants to leave, you sell him. Simple as that.

I am sure FSG will hold out for a good price - just as they did with Torres.

10 Jun 2012 11:03:42
Yes! A danish victory yesterday! What r the chances of kjaer or Simon Poulsen who was the best left defender in the dutch League ? Danieldenmark

The ones who disagrees has not been seeing poulsen play. Lol. Danieldenmark

They just saw POULSEN and got scared...should have capitalized his 1st name :P

10 Jun 2012 10:33:29
Sturridge (agree). Bendtner (disagree)

Who would you have?

Eds I know you are saying sturridge is made up, please tell me bendtner is

Both No.

Me personally would have none of the above their is a lot better players out there than them 2 i would rather promote from the youth than waste money on either of those
riley

You might as well have said

Punch in the face (agree) Kick in the nuts (disagree) -McMenemy

Now McMenemy that is a question after a hour or so deliberating im going with a punch in the face it was a tough decision and a close call i can tell you lol

Hi eds, do you know if any english teams have shown any interest in Lacina Traore of Kuban in Russia?
He is taller than Crouch! {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any English teams interest at present.}

I think Stoke were interested in January...

Alonso is a Liverpool fan as we all know, seen numerous posts on here and other sites saying he would love to move back, a possibility after he's back from the euros ?

Unfortunately not.

Move on he is gone

I reckon next year we may have a chance cant see him moving this year after winning the league with real im sure he will want another crack at the champions league as well i reckon we stand a lot better chance next summer but we should be looking for the next alonso really as he is 30 now would love to see him back tho
giblet

Maybe when his Real Madrid contract is up...

I think he has the qualities and personality to be part of the future bootroom of the club. Potential future manager?

RedSG

Maybe when he's 40. Get a grip

10 Jun 2012 10:15:59
What do you think will happen with Danny Wilson now that Rodgers is in charge, will we loan, sell or keep him as backup to the first team and rotate for cup games?

I think they will sell him would be good if we could get a few million back for him

10 Jun 2012 10:12:26
It's all gone quiet from my sources, so the only thing I can really tell you is that Liverpool aren't interested in signing any Irish players during this window unless someone like McGeady has a great European Championship and finally finds an end product, then some interest MIGHT occur.

Cheers, Green red

No irish players good enough to play for liverpool mate

"it's all gone quiet from my source" ? classic, thanks for giving me a good laugh

McGeady is better then downing

Hell anyone who plays on the wing is better than Downing

You can check my other posts, they've all been right so far. I don't hear much because my contact is in the FAI, not directly involved in Liverpool. Best of luck to the lads today, do us proud.

10 Jun 2012 10:08:24
How is adam johnson suddenly a 16 million player city bought him for. 7 million and since then he has warmed their bench and lost his england place add on his wages over a 4 year contract and it suddenly becomes a 30 million deal.does that not seem a lot for an average player like him.
Also if anger was scouted buy the likes of Madrid and he fancied a change then his performance against the dutch will add a few more quid to his value because he was immense considering the pressure the dutch put on the defence.a good tournament from him could see us getting 20 million for him and a ready made replacement in coates.

10 Jun 2012 09:55:56
Hi eds. So many people on here raving on about Afellay but watching him play for the Dutch side lastnight were better off with Downing than him he's cac..whos seen him play? he's been out injured most of the season and anyones gonna look good in the Barca team
Id like to see the young Danish playmaker in a red shirt though not to sure of his name but has quality and he's a player were in need of..weve not had a midfield playmaker for yonks and think its about time we invested...Just my opinon!

And tomorrow you will want who ever plays well today or has a good ten minute spell in the evening game at this rate we would have a squad of over 100 players by the time the euro,s finish if the fans get their wishes lol

10 Jun 2012 09:51:59
Agger was awesome yesterday. I just hope both Skrtel and Agger stays. Still think they are the best partnership in EPL. IMO.

Kaizer

I think you could be right its close between agger and skrtel and kompany and lescott id take agger and skrtel tho just as long as agger stays fit their aint many better than he is when he is at the top of his game
riley

Yeah, i agree riley, i also felt it was between kompany + lescott and agger + skrtel, i would say kompany is the better defender out of all 4, but as a partnership, i see more in agger and skrtel.

NOTE TO ALL EDS

You should stop this banter page until the euros are over
Becuase so many clowns will say we are linked with every single player who plays each game
Today liverpool will be linked with spanish and italian players!

Its just pathetic

Angry red {Ed002's Note - I rather think the fans should be your target - not the Eds.}

Lighten up a bit mate , lpool sign a few players every season, and theres 1000s of names get put on here every year, it is a rumour/banter site after all, also its fun watching the matches at the euros , while keeping a eye on the better/less well known players, who knows maybe br even watches them lol.............lfc

The croats and the irish not good enough for you!

Angry red if this was stopped you would not of been able to put this message on. So please think next time. Cheers.

Mighty reds

I'm sure it would be better if you just didn't come back on till after the euros.

There we go problem sorted.

Angry Red, Think your missing the point, thats the whole reason for this site so people can voice their opinions. What gets my back up is when they repeat the same things all the time, The Ed's must pull their hair out sometimes.

How much of a chance is Thomas Delaney? Only heard little about him, but sounds like a solid player. Also Roly Bonevacia (mid) or Ishak Belfodil (striker) seem to be quality. I know its probably a long shot, but would BR be interested?

I don't know mate depends if he plays fifa or football manager i reckon that's how he chooses all his players don't you its never let him down yet here,s hoping that he has unearthed some gems for wycome as i believe that is rodgers preferred team on both games he is allegedly in his ninth season gaining promotion every year and winning the premier league and champions league twice what a manager is all i can say

10 Jun 2012 09:22:31
Guys why all the hate over 'motd fever'? Surely a vast majority of the people who read these pages don't have the time or money to watch every match in every league in the world in order to know whether a player was 'just having a good day'? The Euros are a great opportunity for us to see players from other leagues that we don't watch regularly, and for us to do our own bit of scouting, surely that's all part of watching the international comps? Is someone any less of a football fan because the only time they've seen Jakov Krazvierscnniddyeudbd is at an international rather than following the unknown b league in an obscure country? Cut each other some slack. LFC signing a player after one good performance is madness, an LFC supporter suggesting we could get someone based on one performance they've seen is just a point for discussion. Why some of you so desperate to out football one another? We're all fans at the end of the day, to one degree or another

Am the euros is a great chance to sign average players for ridiculous fees and see them fail. it is annoying because it is obvious that the eds have no clue on the interest in most of the players and the fact that they are only playing one good game

Well said that man!

The Robin

I don't understand why people have to be d*cks about it, of downing had a great game and a supporter of another club said thy wanted to sign him I'd say 'yeah he played great but that performance wasn't a fair representation of his league foem'. We should be passing info to each other and debating things not ripping the sh*t out of each other for daring to make a suggestion it's pathetic! I've seen some people on here apologising and defending their questions, what's the point in a website like this if we can't discuss everything LFC/transfer related?

Fair point except that match of the day is just awful. I can't watch it at all. I'd list the reasons but I'd be here all day and my shift finishes in half an hour.

Eds whats the deal with Pacheo? He's a quality player that we could really use. Why don't we bring him back? {Ed002's Note - It did not work out at Liverpool for Dani Pacheco - I really doubt his future is at Anfield.}

10 Jun 2012 08:38:33
Gutted Nick Powell has apparently decided to play for the dark side, but quite glad we seem to have Sigurdsson all lined up, well, unless United step in and take another target away.

I'm also hoping we sign Diame as well, for a 'freebie' he really is a viable option and isn't just a defensive midfielder, he's a very good player and can run with the ball and would certainly offer a new dimension for the midfield.

Rodgers has an excellent skeleton in the squad already to work with, he needs a few more players for depth (options) and cover (injuries).

We need a right winger, as Kuyt (the striker) has left, i think Maxi is good for another season, but we need that new freshness who can offer something different. Personally i like the idea of Boudebouz, very skilful and has a teasing cross.

I don't think Liverpool will add another £20+ million striker, not at least without selling one of the current ones, and i'm not sure it would be Carroll, so if we were to sign a Soldado/Luuk De Jong, then i think it could sign the end of Suarez's stay on Merseyside, which would be a massive loss in my opinion, as Suarez among many things is a fighter and i don't think we have enough of them in the squad.

I think many a good transfer is too be had in Spain, as many clubs are in financial turmoil, so why on Earth Liverpool don't utilise the new manager's ability to speak Spanish and tempt some very good talent to Liverpool, which has a great track record with Spanish players in recent years, leaves me in shock to be honest.

Don't be in shock mate the European transfer window as not opened yet.

Mighty reds

Agree with everything ecept that thing about boudebouz. he is the next taarabt. i agree that the spanish league should be our target.

10 Jun 2012 08:20:27
Hey eds I know this sounds mad but what about a cheek bid for Steve Davis of Derby excellent free kick taker and loves a peno can play left wing or upfront bags of pace and English and only has a year left on his contract so not big money

Madmanmike {Ed016's Note - sure does sound mad, madmanmike}

That sure is mad! I am a Derby season ticket holder and yes he takes a good freekick and he seems like he could score goals, that's in the championship and he's always injured! If any top 10 premiership team signed him, I'd eat my heart.

Jamo

10 Jun 2012 08:29:38
News in today's media is that Liverpool are chasing Daniel sturridge I think this would be a good move for him an Liverpool. The fee has to be minimal though aprox 12-14m if Chelsea start wanting 20m+ then it is totally ridiculous. On another point I was told by my friend who works for a newspaper in Murcia in Spain that Carlos vela is valued at 4m I for 1 think he is a better player than 4m an I think he shows potential plus he's young might be worth a gamble. Kevo {Ed016's Note - Sturridge rumours are not true.}

10 Jun 2012 02:57:41
Ayy any edd pref edd 002 if you was manager of liverpool and you were given 35 mil plus player sales what would you do buy 2 good players or 3-4 average players and what stratergy would you go with and this is a banter site so answer the question haha. STEMLOCC1 {Ed005's Note - Impossible to say what amount of money will get you in the market. I suspect prices will go up and down depending on many things. But that's not how transfers at LFC work now anyway.}

10 Jun 2012 06:45:35
Eds.. Just wonderin ur opinion.. If we do sell johnson weve then got kelly and flanagan.. But ive read if we sell johnson we would possibly bring another right back in.. Is it possible we would sell either kelly or flanagan aswell or maybe shape kelly into a centreback..? Or maybe just have all of them fighting for the spot..? Cheers

Kelly is a center back but has been put as a right back for experience and any mistakes made wouldnt lead straight to a goal, just like Carra was uze a a right back mosst of the time until Rafa took over

Wozza

Oh k cheers.. Big of development to go then..

I have been a liverpool fan for 12 years now n i love the club. But to move forward we need to be pachent n confident in our manager. The way he plays will suit our players. Downing will have a massive season as will caroll. It takes time to settle into a club our size. And the way rodgers plays will sort caroll out feed the big man with the wingers. N play football. Im so excted for next season. We dont need many players just need the young Lads to settle n maybe adam johnson. Who is wastin his career at man city. Step up n support the players we have. Who compared to the clubs we r compeating against arnt really that overpayed. Lfc till i die. No matter what.

Thanks, Great site.

Morning Eds

Great site,keep up the hard work,although it must be frustrating answering same old same old every day. Anyway I digress.

Who do you think will be the standout LFC player at the Euro's.

I am happy to see BR as our manager,hopefully with some time and patience he will improve on the field results.There is not much currently wrong with the squad.

Keep the faith - The future is bright the future is Red -Anfield Red

I just wanted to say that I understand tht the eds have to answer alot of questions about transfers every window and do try their best. The only problem is lately, y do most of the eds not believe we can sign anybody of a high level? Just a few months ago macca said tht we are interested in munian and soldado this summer. I know tht we hav now got a new manager but surely they are still top of the list? Thanks alot eds! {Ed016's Note - It's not that we believe we can not sign anyone of a high level. It is just that there are way more people that we are not going to sign. We are honest. If we don't think it will happen we tell you.}

Then don't ask them about it then. i'd rather we kept signing younger talent with potential.

10 Jun 2012 01:46:22
Could I just say Germany and Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels looked cool and calm under pressure, displayed a great range of passing, made good attacking runs and had some great tackles and clearances.

I don't want to seem like another Euro-fever sufferer and do not think we will sign him, but I just want to say how good a player he is - especially at the age of 22 (or he might be 23 now), he seems to have the experience of a man much older. I have admired him for a time now.

Not a transfer rumour, just fact.

Jolly Red

I only watched the first half, and I thought he looked nervous and germanys weak link. he obviously had a better 2nd half
Lincoln Red

He has been immense for dortmund in the last two seasons and bayern munich must be crying into their pints after letting him slip away.

how about adding a section here to the youth and reserve squads of liverpool.

does anyone else think that it is fantastic that clark has got the job at wba. he can take players on loan from us to give our youngsters a strong foundation and along with swansea our younger stars can get first team football and get regular playing time. {Ed016's Note - This is why English teams needs B-teams like in Spain.}

Ed i do agree with you but for there to be B-teams installed there will have to be either a 5th professional division added to england or else other profesional clubs will be relegated at the expense of them. i for one think that it should be installed as barca's future looks really bright and that is down to the barca b team.

Thats what rafa wanted to happen but was shot down in flames

10 Jun 2012 00:10:48
Hi eds I'm sure your as annoyed as me with all the questions about players who do good for one match. With me being an Irish fan I can remember Mcshane being amazing and getting motm on his debut. So maybe instead of answering these stupid questions ye should just reply : Mcshane {Ed016's Note - Salif Diao, El Hadji Diouf, South Korean team of 2002 World cup, Greek team of Euro 2004. Michael Owen.}

Don't understand the Michael Owen comment - are you suggesting for one minute that he was just a MOTD signing - nearly 300 games for us and 158 goals scored. I won't go on about how he left - Rick Parry ( the well known LFC g****ite ) would be able to tell you the truth, although he wouldn't. If it was a dig at him - bang out of order, if Evans had played lot earlier than he did we'd have won the PL.
