what does everyone think-can we win the premership this season.i myself think we can if we can inprove our away form and touch lucky with injurys etc.i think our team will be stronger in most areas on the pitch.with new signings and even more younger quality players coming into the first team set-up from the youth-coady.sterling.suso.we will have more varity of play with out and out wingers.we will be stronger at the back with maybe kelly at c.b.a rested and fit s.g and charlie adam who is class and who can put the tackles in as well.i cant wait for the new season as kk has brought back more attacking passing footie to lpool and it looks like the lpool players take pride in wearing the famous red shirt again.never lose the faith in the king we will get back our throne. lfc

According to the villa rumour pages Downing will be a red this week, Man City pages say the same about A Johnson, could this be a great season for Liverpool? I think so All hail King Kenny and his tribe of merry men

ed according the fountain of all knowledge twitter a football agent claims arsenals interest in downing has made lfc hurry up and conlcude the deal possibly for 19.5m.would we pay nearly 20m for him?if youngs worth 17m with a year left as downing is better with 2 years would 20m be bad.DORSET RED

i personally rate downing and think he will be good for us as hes proven consistent reliable and a bloody good crosser.been having a debate at work today on who would people rather sign downing or ashley young for their club and apart from me no one said downing.those guys will be like the ones on here slating the hell out of downing then when he has a blinder say well done kenny great signing.fickle fans do my head in.DORSET RED

Hey, what happens with transfers in and out the coming week. Will they be able to do buisness from Asia, flying players down there?, or will Comolli rush back if a player decides to sign or how are they doing that s**t. Downing, a target at Arsenal as well, might sign for them this week because Liverpool is out of town, or what? what do you think Eds, how are Liverpool doing buisness while out of town, actually at the other side of the world. {Ed002's Note - Ian Ayre will handle anything that needs offers made or contracts signed etc..}

G'day dudes

I come from sunny land down under Australia and started to watch what u call football.

i have decided to watch and support liverpool, basically because of Robbie Fowler, the one you call God.

Well i thought id do some scouting of my bloody own, going from country to country on my kanagroo.

i think we should sign a player called Xabi alonso, have you heard of him? What a passer ay, probably cost around the 25 mil mark, id throw in a boomerang as a sweetner.

well, thats me done

catch ya later

Hey lads all the talk about Baines cant understand it he is good but overrated, if we were to buy anyone from Everton i would buy Seamus Colman he is gonna be the next bale, fact. He would be cheap too and will play at the back as well as on the wing.

ED,

do you know of any player that didn't travel to china for exit reasons {Ed002's Note - Jovanovic.}

10 Jul 2011 22:17:16
i'm fed up of reading that our new and potential new signings aren't good enough and aren't 'world class' well i'm guessing most of these idiotic comments are from under 30's because you lot wouldn't remember kk signing houghton and aldridge from lowly oxford, surely these players couldn't be world class could they, maybe if they came from 'real oxford' or ac oxford' then that'd be ok coz they'd be world class and of course digger barnes who we signed from the world famous 'athletico watford', seriously people get a grip, whats the old saying about square pegs and round holes, if kk thinks a certain player will fit into how he wants us to play then i don't care where he's from or how much he costs if he's good enough for kk he's good enough for me, so i guess guys either start backing kk and the boys or sod off and watch someone else.

i dont think most peeps have quite got it, we have struggled when bringing players on as substitutes.we are strengthening our whole squad, not going for marquee signings.its been done very very wisely .we will qualify for CL.who knows, we may even win the league ...patience my friends

10 Jul 2011 22:10:07
i think some of these lfc fans on here need to be realistic, they are talking about ohh why dont we buy world class players like aguero, di maria, higuain and so on, , , well simple cos these players want europe, big wages to big for us, and we dont have europe, adam henderson and few more of our target players like downing, bastos, mata, dann, cissokho, sissoko, enrique and even nzogbia would be good enough with the squad we have to fight for top 4 spot, stop whining about who we buy and how much we spend untill the end of the season if they have either proved you right or if they prove you wrong then come on and say you was wrong about them let kenny and his staff do their jobs and see how things pan out.....

I think kk obsession with going british will be his achille's heel in his second coming as manager; sacrificing a wonderful player like raul meireles for players like Jordan and adam does not make at all. Oh He is the manager, he knows football better than anybody, he used the same method in the 80's and he succeeded with it, in Kenny we trust. Excuse me fellow fans, this is 2011 It is not written in stone that the method of 80's will work in 2011. Selling raul will send a wrong signal within the team and outside of it. What do you except non-british players in the squad to think and those that on the verge of joining? Kk needs to manage this situation very well. Believe me when I say these signings are not comolli's but the manager. It is easier to knock benitez for his signings knowing fully well that lfc raked in 100m pounds on 3 players( torres, Alonso & masch), making over 50m as profit (nobody remembers that). Another thing of note is the mentality of these players coming in, are they winners or have they won anything in the lives? Kk needs to manage this. These are my thoughts and I don't expect you guys to agree with me( I mean those that always say get behind the manager). I am a fan of an institution called lfc not the manage or the players.

Forgive me if I'm a little late with this comment, but I've been out all day eeking a living.
I've just seen the comment by Ian Ayres stating that the refurbishment of Anfield is unlikely.
The comment (or what part of it I've seen) does not commit Fenway to providing an alternative new stadium.
I think what he's saying here is that we're stuck with what we have.
Yes, Fenway's ultimate objective would be to maximise match day revenue with a larger, new stadium.
But there is no way I can see this happening until / unless we win another European Cup and / or a Prem Trophy.
That's my opinion. The world economy is too unstable, steel and oil etc prices are way too high.
Top 4 is no good if we want a new ground, cos to attract the level of sponsors etc we're talking about, will need trophies. Preferably lots of them, delivered consistently.
That's how I see it unfortunately.

Eds fantastic site. Breaking the Adam story a full three hours before anyone else erased any doubt I (and probably others) had about the validity of your sources. You guys rock. My question, as has been the theme of the day, how much power does Mcleish have in this situation with downing? Modern football seems to be a place where the players and a few big time clubs have almost complete autonomy on player transfers so I was just wondering how successful you think a hard line stance would be for Villa (and for spurs for that matter regarding Modric). Downing wants to leave, we have the money, Isn't it just pointless chest beating before the inevitable?

Great site, again.

RyLFC {Ed009's Note - I think if we really want him we'll get him, but it is far from pointless chest beating. If it earns them an extra five million, which it may well do, then I suppose it has done the job for them.}

I like this site and I think the Edds do a great job, but I wish people would stop asking the f**king about downing, mata and bastos. I'm sure if there was something going on the Edds would be first to know ( just like the Adam deal). So everybody get off there backs and just be patient

Ed's, simple question. Strikers. Carroll up front, maybe 2 behind him, Suares, and ?? In your opinion, who would be the best value for money and why. I'd have Matta, just because of his versatility, but I'm not the Legend that is Mr Dalglish, he'll buy the best for our club. ...why is this woman looking at me funny? Ohh, ...it's the Wife... Completely forgot I had one Site not good for married men. Great job guys, keep it up, divorce just a matter of time now. LOL "I'M COMIMG WOMAN" {Ed009's Note - I'm not sure we will buy another striker, personally. But if we do Hoarau is a possibility again, and would be a fine signing. I can't imagine us buying anyone big money as we don't have cash to throw around. I'd love to see someone with pace to play off the shoulder of the last defender - Benzema would be fantastic in a dream world.}

10 Jul 2011 21:33:16
I am just a LFC fan, I'll not say that I have my own resources such as many people here, and at the end theres nothing true... But what I know briefly, that we have to spend app 25 millions +(buying players)

Total:app= 38 millions

If I have the choice to buy in this money, Ill bid for Mata even if he will cost us (28 millions), or: Afellay and Bastos(15 millions + 13 millions)

The rest 10 millions, we should bid for Dann or cissokhu... YNWA

good news guys, liverpool are on the verge of signing Italian playmaker Robatelli, and Japanese winger Nickamota.

As well as Serbian sensation Gotanic and Russian wing wizard Appleturnova.

10 Jul 2011 21:26:12
people seem worried that we cant sign any players if commoli is away in asia. they must think we have never signed anyone before commoli joined the club

10 Jul 2011 21:25:59
id like to see suso get sum first team action this year.

10 Jul 2011 21:22:06
i think downing would be a good buy but personally i would rather look at skillfull forwards like lavezzi, zarate or podolski who can play any of the forward positions, you imagine the movement with any two of them and suarez backed up by gerrard, henderson and lucas holding in a 4-3-3 or podolski on the left lavezzi or zarate on the right with carroll and suarez up top in a 4-4-2.

10 Jul 2011 21:21:28
ed considering the high amount of cm players we have how many do you think will leave this window?
- Raul Meireles
- Steven Gerrard
- Joe Cole
- Henderson
- Spearing
- Lucas
- Adam
- Poulsen
- Suso
- Shelvey
- Aquilani
(for anyone who didnt know the extreme amount of cm's we have) {Ed009's Note - Meireles and Cole will leave. Aquilani could do, and perhaps Poulsen if we can find a buyer. We may see Shelvey go out on loan.}

What's the squad that's gone on the Asia tour?

10 Jul 2011 21:41:08
Adam Johnson rumours......The way I see it if there was any chance of getting him from Man City we would know by now... If Mancini wanted rid of him I believe he would just make him available with their cash he would not have to wait for a replacement. So all this talk of him joining is rubbish the fact we are bidding for downing means he is No1 target not Mata, not Adam Johnson, not Nzogbia or anyone else linked.... I know we need 2 wingers but dont think Kenny is going to start putting left footers on the right.. that was just a Rafa thing I hope

Hi Ed002. Please can you tell me the chances, out of ten, of you being able to spell the words 'the' and 'that' correctly in future replies? ;)

10 Jul 2011 21:40:07
I dont and I dont prefer downing to come in more than 15 millions. I believe in KK but Iam 1 of you fans that prefer some players over Downing, hes 26 years old and weve tabled 15 millions and rejected , so we should bid for another target, Bastos is 28 ok I know but hes faster and better in ma opinion and (cheaper), or Afellay (15 millions will be accepted, Mata is my best choice even if we add more 12 millions to downing's bid and get him, but plz I am praying nt to get that Down in, he should be down off

10 Jul 2011 21:16:55
A lot people on here talk about downing not being good enough for england.The facts are the england team for the last five years has been mostly made up of liverpool, man utd, chelsea and arsenal players.It was a closed shop and players were played out of position just to keep certain players and egos happy.Do you remember j.terry during the world cup.He wanted j.cole.Downing did not get a fair chance and that goes for a lot of players.

10 Jul 2011 20:45:23
Can you post on rumours page. has any one noticed on the offical site maxi is now number 11 his old number 17 is now spare could he be staying?

10 Jul 2011 20:38:27
EDS how many more signings do you think we will make after downing I'm thinking 3 A CB RB and another right winger ? {Ed002's Note - I suspect a LB, CB, GK, perhaps a striker.}

10 Jul 2011 20:32:25
Not directly LFC stuff, but I'm going for Villas-Boas out of his Chelsea job by Summer 2012.

Hi ed
Just a general but important question what impact does tournaments like copa america and african nations have on players recruitment as scouts do go to these tournaments.

Also in general european teams sign more players from that area why don't engllish clubs.also are we watching any kids or seneior players there in this copa america.
Regards
Red indian {Ed002's Note - The African Cup of Nations is more of a hinderance as it takes place during the European season. Copa America takes place over the summer so is less of an issue. Clubs will have some representation at both tournaments looking at specific players. In general South American players integrate better in the Latin countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy) for reasons of language, culture etc..}

10 Jul 2011 20:36:53
A question to all - Would we all agree that our priority signing this summer would be a quality / world class winger I honestly believe the way KK is setting the new look Liverpool up for next season NEEDS one / OR EVEN 2 but no one yet has arrived. OK lets be patient i agree but lets look at who is being heavily linked with - ie Downing, Nzogbia, Basto - These are not Liverpool quality. If we can spend £35m on Carroll lets spend some SERIOUS money on Ribery, Di Maria, Bale or someone of this ilk. IF we are to get to the next stage we have to get the RIGHT players to do it. Ed your comments much appreciated.

10 Jul 2011 20:33:51
i have heard DC is on the plane can anyone confirm this? it does not make sence to take him to china

10 Jul 2011 20:30:37
Ed , Am i correct in thinking that is was Dalglish himself who recommened Arda Turan to Benitez when Rafa was in charge , If so doesnt it seem a bit odd that Kenny hasnt followed Him up now he is the Manager.. As for Adam Johnson, i think we can forget him . I think he could well be Arsenal bound if City take Nasri .. I'm also lead to believe Juan Mata to Arsenal could well depend on whether Fabregas stays or goes . {Ed009's Note - Yes, it does seem very odd indeed. But there is no more I can say about it really.}

10 Jul 2011 20:28:10
downing is garbage....again not a world class player why bring in rubbish like this? he aint lit up the prem for villa never mind liverpool. just an average jo. 2 signings so far and neither are world class altho i see more hope in henderson and adam than i do with downing.

ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

not another season of s**t purchases.

10 Jul 2011 20:22:03
hi ed, I think I speak for most liverpool fans here we would rather have bastos than enrique and mata than downing also is it true that were getting lennon and cassano please reply {Ed009's Note - I have heard nothing about Lennon and Cassano since some unfounded rumours cropped up a while back. They make little sense as signings either, so I really can't see it happening.}

10 Jul 2011 20:20:56
Do you think a move will be made for Charles N'Zogbia even if we get Downing? {Ed009's Note - I don't think there is interest at this time. Villa will likely sign the player as a replacement for Downing if he goes, so it is perhaps one or the other.}

10 Jul 2011 20:10:58
Get baines, i know he's a blue nose but he is the best left back in the league in my opinion, better than ashley cole last season I really don't want downing, he's very over-rated, I would rather milner, if were going to pay silly money for downing (18 million) which is ridiculous, we may aswell get milner, he would be cheaper and he's more versatile, downing is just a average left midfielder. Were paying over the odds lately.

10 Jul 2011 19:55:21
I found this sight a week ago and now i'm addicted, i just want to say why are we going for downing at all, we are being told we want young players who will have a decent sell on price, correct me if i'm wrong but downing is nearly 27, in three years time we wouldn't even get 10 million for him, i trust kk 100% but if arsenal want him let them have him coz he ain't that good.

10 Jul 2011 19:49:34
Anyone know why Glen Johnson has not travelled to Asia ?

10 Jul 2011 19:25:44
aguero is not coming so let this be the end to this rumour and get real. Downing may come as may bastos, dont know why we didnt go in for J A Riise .

10 Jul 2011 19:24:54
Hi guys this is not a rumour bur just something I have been thinking for a while now. I really think that Defoe would be a great option for us, we have Suarez and Carrol which is better than how we started last season with A half fit Torres and Ngog. But just think Defoe could offer us something different, hoping big Andy will justify the price tag but think we need more depth up front. Who knows, wouldn't Harry swap for Cole?? Just thoughts as I say not a rumour at all. Eds as always compelling reading for any red. X

10 Jul 2011 19:24:10
Ed do you think liverpool would buy bastos for left back? And do you rate charlie adam and did he get number 15? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Perhaps; no but give the guy a chance; no idea, sorry.}

10 Jul 2011 19:22:48
get rid og konchesky, poulsen, ngog, jovanovic, degen and el zhar.
give cole, aqua and merieles(not that he really needs to prove himself) till january.
we should buy a.johnson(possible) and rvp(unlikely) and an attacking left back (not enrique) baines(preferably) wingers in order of prefference
1 johnson
2 mata
3 downing
4 mcgeady/walcott.
j.mccarthy
cb
1 cahill
2 dann
shane long good option if we are looking for good young striker.or

ive absolutely no contacts, its just who id personally like to c at the club.

10 Jul 2011 19:21:05
Why are so many against Downing? I can probably suggest a reason. Because of his England performances. Downing has been one of the Premierships best wingers for years now. Not to mention he arguably has one of the best deliveries in the league. Andy Carroll would have a field day.

10 Jul 2011 19:13:06
Hi eds gr8 job always first with on signings, to all liverpool fans , we will be signing stewart downing soon , we will soon have the four player that have a quality left peg in downing , charlie adam, andy carroll & daniel agger, raji brink ( p.e.south africa ) YNWA

10 Jul 2011 19:12:44
Not a rumour as such but i cant believe matt Jarvis hasn't been looked at he had a great season, forget downing and mata, KK should be going all out for matt jarvis and adam johnson they could possibly be the future wingers for england for the next 10 years, and if henderson lives up to the price tag we could have the entire england midfield,
johnson henderson shelvey jarvis

jaydee

10 Jul 2011 19:11:38
Ed If you go back 12 months I still think a great left back is Jeremy Mathieu of Valencia. Ok hes 27 but big fast strong and can wing it too..Ive told Kenny this severel times...
Kenny being my mate from work..

10 Jul 2011 19:07:08
cissokho not turned up for pre season tour, he is leaving but where

10 Jul 2011 19:06:10
Ed009, just reading from top of page to half a dozen posts down or so, and you have rated A Johnson and Mata 5/10 at the top, but few posts down both a 4/10. Any reason or or am just nitpicking? Thanks {Ed009's Note - The 5/10's were for a question asking the players' chances if we failed to buy Downing.}

10 Jul 2011 18:58:34
Who do you think would be a better signing , Downing or Mata. Believe in MATA , Unbelievable in Dowing.And what do you think the chances are of us signing either of them. Personally i think Mata would be the best option. Has more flair, better technique and is younger with more potential to get better. Ed what do you think. {Ed009's Note - we will likely be buying Downing. There comes a point where we ought to stop questioning who could have been better and get behind the player. Who knows - maybe we will see another winger too, who will be more to your taste.}

10 Jul 2011 18:57:51
Downing and Johnson would be fantastic options to solve our wide problems. But this would be too good to become true.

10 Jul 2011 18:55:48
Any Eds, as we were more then likely to go in for Downing anyway, even if we had signed Marveux as the back up he was perceived to be. Just like to know if we dont buy another winger and Downing (if the reports of his coming are true) gets injured or is out of the team for other reasons, lack of form, suspension. Surely we're gonna sign another out and and wide player or we'll be back to square 1 re lack of wingers, service for Carroll, if any of the above happened to him. Any thoughts? Thanks. Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - I think we are more likely to sign another winger than not, but it depends on how much the other positions cost.}

10 Jul 2011 18:47:11
Hi Ed, fantastic site, very addictive

I apologise if I am being thick but with Comolli on the pre-season tour, how will transfer negotiations take place with regards to new signings? I would be grateful if you could clear this up for me.

Many thanks
Nottsred {Ed009's Note - this is the last time this question will be answered. Very few negotiations take place in person these days, they happen over the phone or by video calling etc. China has reached the level of modernisation that it too has these capabilities.}

10 Jul 2011 18:46:59
I could be wrong but is it possible the Aston Villa leaked a made up bid from Arsenal in an attempted to make us up our offer quickly?

10 Jul 2011 18:43:22
I think it could go abit wrong handing Henderson the number 14 shirt as i expect most fans to compare him to Alonso because he plays midfield and has the same number.

10 Jul 2011 18:35:13
Ed009 what happened to our little conversation we were having last night ? I was happily talking to you when all of a sudden the post was gone ?
Thanks,
Adam O'K ;) YNWA. {Ed009's Note - it was deleted? Must be part of a conspiracy. I imagine Kenny saw you asking about becoming an academy player, and wanted to snap you up before any of the other big four clubs which read everything I write did so instead.}

10 Jul 2011 18:39:25
ED with kk and camolli out in asia whos gunna be doing the signings while they are in asia, or will we not be signing till thats done with, i hope not cos we need to keep on top of it incase we miss our chacne at certain players {Ed009's Note - I imagine they will pick up the phone, dial the number and negotiate with the players' clubs.}

10 Jul 2011 18:38:29
Adverts for Gay holidays what are u lot googling - can we have tours of the Scums ground back please .. {Ed002's Note - It is related to your searches as well you know.}

Hi to all the Eds. Could you please tell me out of 10, the chance that people will stop asking you to mark out of ten the chance we have of signing players.

I also still think our number 1 target at the moment is Downing, followed by Enrique. If we cant sign these players i believe we will then look abroad.

TRANSFER ALERT

I have just spent the last 2 1/2 weeks trapped inside a rotating door with a very angry Aston Villa official, we were both guests of honour at a John West convention in the Centennial Centre Birmingham when the door related incident took place, only for the John West goody bags we got we probably both would have starved to death, the Aston Villa official was very angry not only because he lived on a diet of tuna and brine for 18 days but also because Aston Villa lost two of their best player over the period in Young and Downing, whom he assured me is Liverpool bound.

Can I just remind all LFC supporters (No rumours here) that doubt King Kenny and the clubs transfers policies at the moment. Let me take you back to the 80 s, A certain Manager (KK) was slated because he overpaid for the following players: Ray Hougton, John Aldridge, Peter Beardsley and no other than John Barnes. All in 1987. When he returned to football and Managed Blackburn rovers he was criticised again for the same wrong doing by overpaying for a Chris Sutton, Tim Flowers and a fairly unproven striker in L1, Alan Shearer. Need I say more? Only then to go on and win the league with Blackburn yes Blackburn KK has turned LFC around once again In just a short six months Whatever the man does or whoever he signs, its for the best for LFC, like most of us, LFC is in his blood and the best we supporters can do is get behind the club and King Kenny and watch LFC get back to were we belong and let there be no doubt The cr me of the cr me Is were we belong And were we will be

Ed how can you say we don't have the cash to compete?

Carroll 35m
Suarez 23m
Henderson 18m
Them figures don't sound like someone not competing it's not about how much you spend it's the right player for the club...I.e Torres & dezko both massive money both flops so far {Ed009's Note - but those were all signings the club perceived that they needed. We don't need another striker, let alone one which will cost 40 million pounds. On top of that, none of those three players are receiving in excess of 100,000 pounds a week. Aguero would demand 200,000.}

EDS .. SSN REPORTING THERE SOURCES SAY DOWNING COULD BE DONE BY TOMORROW, MY QUESTION WOULD BE IS THIS POSSIBLE BECAUSE COMOLLI IS AWAY TO ASIA ?? {Ed002's Note - Of course.}

10 Jul 2011 17:17:40
Ed, you heard anything along the lines of Downing deal being completed tomorrow? Im sure i read that Commolli has gone to the far east so that would suggest that a deal may be some way off or am i mistaken? {Ed002's Note - I refer you to an earlier answer on this.}

How close are City to getting Nasri..is it more or less a done deal...and if it is, do u think we would move quickly for A.Johnson..i think the lad is a class act and would quickly become a fans favourite

New Stadium now seems the only option left for the new owners.
For some reason they want to starting to drip the issue of naming rights to us so we get used to it.
They should realise we are big sensible adults who fully understand the principle of using this process to finance any new build and just get on with it. We lost 3 years of no new ground with the last shower.
As I posted before the fans memories of great matches at Anfield will never be lost, but we now need a new ground to stay at the top table in Europe. So lets just cut to the chase and start work on The Standard Chartered Stadium tomorrow

i would like to start a patition to keep cole at anfield, ok he had a flop season but i really do feel that a good pre-season under kenny and co would do him the world of good. he is a very talented player givin the chance and i feel that a fresh start to this season and he will surprise everyone

10 Jul 2011 15:56:27
Reading the statement regarding the stadium on LFC website from Ian Ayre it is looking more likely we'll be moving into a new stadium as there are too many obstacles in the way to redevelop the Main Stand and Anfield Rd stand at Anfield. He also says that they are in talks with a number of companies reagarding investment for naming rights. I believe one of them is Adidas but this would be daft if we are changing ate kit suppliers to Warrior in 2012. I guess time will tell but at least we know were we stand on the issue of the stadium.

Excuse unfinished post re: below
Bastos agent ( De kerkove) said on Calciomercatoweb.it that Juve were stiil at the front for Bastos although both sides were finding it hard to agree a fee. When asked about interest from other clubs, De kerkove said that Inter, Chelsea, Barcelona, Liverpool and Spurs had all made enquiries (we know how good agents are at creating interest in their players). However he did also state that only two of the mentioned clubs actually called to speak to him. No mention of the two clubs. Would LFC really be interested in a 27 year old / 28 next month player. Jim22

{Ed006's Note - Yes, the left side does not need players for the future as Robinson and Sterling will be coming through aswell.}

sky sources- Ketchup and mayonaise are probably more reliable but they say a deal for downing could be down as early as monday.... who will complete the deal if KK and DC has gone to the orient. has DC gone? some people say he has some people say he has not, anyone got a picture or seen a picture? i dont think it would make sence him leaving considering Downing...

10 Jul 2011 15:03:53
been watching Andres Guardado the Mexican left winger at 24 he maybe small but by god is he talented hes fast skill full and can cut in or hug the line and put a cross in. i know the likes of benfica lyon and valencia (to replace mata, if he leaves) are interested in him but i feel a bid around 12 million could interest deportivo and interest him with a move to the prem. what do you think? he may not be proven in the prem but i prefer him to Downing even with Downings positive stats.

10 Jul 2011 14:51:15
I personally think joe cole should be kept for one more season..he has lots Prem L. expierence , i think he just came in at a bad time last year ..i think he will benefit from some good signings this year..a few more creative players in the team and maybe we, ll see him able to link up in attack ..he hasnt really had a chance , Sign jermain defoe, downing, dann, bastos,

10 Jul 2011 14:41:48
Mr E{Ed002's Note - So where is the £40M coming from? I am by no £40M coming from? I am by no means convinced that the owners will commit to £40M for Aguero plus £200k per week wages (particularly as Liverpool have shown no interest in his transfer to date), plus £20M or thereabouts for Downing/Mata, plus another £10M for a centre back and £10M for a left back on top of the £25M they have already spent. If they do, the club will then truly be running at a significant loss. I really do not see Aguero at Liverpool next year.} year.}
--------
I never said I expected him to come only that it was fiscally possible. Think we misunderstood each other ed. Keep up the good work

Mr E

10 Jul 2011 14:39:39
The original poster needs to realize that if you start paying aguero 200k per week. you would have to'renegotiate' gerrard's contract up too. The other players would want too. The other players would want bigger contracts too. You just dont get a player that will tear apart your wage structure. bigger contracts too. You just dont get a player that will tear apart your wage structure. Aguero may yet go to Man city and flop there. {Ed002's Note - The original poster seemingly cannot grasp the finances at all - I really wouldn't bother trying to explain.}
----------

Ok so then when gerrard got a new contract did everyone else in the team get the same? No. Why not since according to ed002 and the person who responded everyone is required to be paid the same. I think the two of you are confusing marxist communism with football. In this capitalist society people get paid what they worth to the employer, if gerrard asks for 200k and is worth it he will get it.

Mr E

{Ed002's Note - The club has been running at a loss but has a significant benefit of losing the excessive interest payments as you say. However, income from European football has also disappeared right now. The previous owners did a great deal with Standard Chartered over the sponsorship deal. The new owners will be pulling in something like an additional £12M a year on the shirt deal with Warrior from next year. All of this balances out reasonably well. However, the running costs of the team are too high and the club is looking to bering in younger players and bring through youth players to supplement the more experienced players in the team. To do this they will also need to remove some of the high cost players who are not in the future plans (Jovanovic, et al) and players who wish to leave (Aquilani and Meireles). They have just paid the final 5M euros installment on Aquilani and are desperate to move him on as soon as possible. Removing others such as Jovanovic, El Zhar etc. is more of a problem as they are soaking up large financial resources and have no resale value. Jovanovic and Cole are both owed the balance of their signing on fees as well. The bottom line is that regardless of what you think, there simply is not vast amounts of spare cash available for purchases. The club needs to move towards self-funding and still improve the squad, and that is what the management team is doing. But the owners are not going to simply throw money at the club without consideration of a return on their investment.}

10 Jul 2011 14:38:14
I have heard that we will let Downing join Arsenal. KK feels there is no need to follow up interest in him if a bidding war is started. Comolli and Dalglish will now most likely look abroad and have heard from a German source that we are looking at Marko Marin from Werder. Hazard is someone Comolli is pushing for but KK prefer Payet too him. Interest in Arda Turan has died down. Keisuke Honda may be resurrected but that deal is more likely to happen in January. Juan Manuel Mata remains the top target from abroad but Arsenal are now the favourites for him. And if Adam Johnson becomes available then KK will swoop for him instantly. He is a huge fan and will pay whatever the price. So overall the top three targets would be Mata, Marin and Payet but interest remains in Johnson and Downing. {Ed002's Note - Downing is the number one target not Mata. Payet has already moved this summer - he won't be moving again.}

10 Jul 2011 14:34:21
Personally i think Arsenal have bid for Downing because they would take him as a player just, but its a tac tic that could back fire on him.Imo the bid is either because they know Mata is coming to Liverpool or to get a free run at him. If the bid from Arsenal is excepted expect Wenger to say 'I have no time or did not see the high bid, the bid has always gone in hard on my players, and a high bid should be banned from football for its dirty tactics, i am at a loss why the Arsenal keep being targeted by this cowardly high bid, i will resign if this bid continues to harass my players and i'. If Liverpool dont match the it expect it to break down over personal terms or Downing failing his medical for a broken fingernail, clearly a ball busting tactic of the Arsenal. They can offer a Champions League football qualifying tie though because thats as far as it goes. A quote i heard maybe from somebody on here that Arsenal are the only team to come 4th in a 2 horse race. Chopper Read {Ed002's Note - Lunchtime at the pub was it Chopper?}

10 Jul 2011 14:11:12
{Ed009's Note - Unsurprisingly, and we could well see Poulsen remain another season and 'fight for his place' ahem. He certainly wants to.}

LOL - are you kidding me. Poulsen leaving is a must Him, Konchesky & Jovanovic are just useless sh...t. Shame Woy didn't come to take him to WestBrom If Woy thinks Poulsen is not good enough for WestBrom oh why the hell this grandpa Blonde will be good enough for Famous reds LFC board should not have given green light to sanction such a bad move.
Oh' Can somebody plz calculate the total amount of cash this Woy Hedgehog has cost us

If Kenny can do one good thing forget the signing of players, plz just get this so called deadwood (Poulsen, Konchesky & Jovanvic) out of club. It's disgusting to see them at LIverpool Football Club.

10 Jul 2011 14:10:32
This might sound like a stupid question Ed, but obviously kenny is heading to china with the team, therefore would you still think there will be signings with him away ? Clearly commolli to the most part will be doing the negotiations back home. Bassically doyou think we will still see signings with kenny away in Asia ? {Ed009's Note - we are away in Asia for quite a period of time so I imagine we could still see movement. Lots of negotiation can happen via phone or video calling, so there shouldn't be a problem.}

10 Jul 2011 13:59:01
Just a couple of points to mention;
All these players that we have "missed out" on, does anyone really have any proof that we actually made a bid for them, or is it just everyone panicking over a rumour that we'd been linked with them. Also, if a we make a bid for a player, and he chooses to go to another club, we didn't "miss out" on him, he chose to go somewhere else, it's a subtle but important difference

10 Jul 2011 14:05:23
Arsenal have bid for downing and if Liverpool were to match the offer then the club will leave it down to the player to choose...this gives Liverpool the advantage as it is well known that downing would prefer a move to anfield

10 Jul 2011 14:04:09
I only see us buying a left back and left winger nothing else, and it wont be Mata. We are not gonna buy all these player that everyone mentions. we can only field 11 players at a time and all these big names wont sit bench......

10 Jul 2011 13:45:47
query for ed009, was reading city rumour page and ed016 says mancini wants to keep Adam Johnson but you say he's a possibility for us because "Mancini doesn't want Johnson at the club anymore" So which ed is right??? Other Ed's please feel free to add your two cents as to who you think is really in the know {Ed009's Note - Its all a matter of conjecture at this time and I am certainly not going to discredit any other editor, but that is the situation as I know it. They have fallen out several times and you only have to look at his treatment of Johnson in matches to see all is not well. Ed001 will back up my claims that he will become available if they sign a replacement - which they seem to have done in Nasri. What's more Ed016 doesn't have access to the Liverpool site, so it simply can't have been him...}

10 Jul 2011 13:45:41
Mr E {Ed002's Note - And the £40M to buy him? And who else will be knocking on Tom Werner's door knocking on Tom Werner's door demanding higher wages?}
-------
if we were willing to spend 35m on a player with half a season experience with injury and discipline problems I'm sure an extra 5 for a full international with champs league experience wouldn't be a problem. Regarding wages what would we do now if gerrard requested 200k? Sell him? We all know he would get it, so why not pay him? He's only 23 with years ahead of him and we wouldn't need to re negotiate every year like meireles and many others.

Mr E

{Ed002's Note - It is not an extra £5M - it is an extra £40M.}

10 Jul 2011 13:38:17
Everyone seems to be saying that all we want is good hard working players with team ethic. Hate to point this out but you need some flair in the team too otherwise stoke would win league every year.

Downing is good and hard working but no flair, id be happy with him but we could do with one midfield flair player, .

Mr E

10 Jul 2011 13:36:16
There is a reason why Man City have bought Gael Clichy is because Kolarov is simply not good enough so why will we sign him. Someone said a few weeks ago on twitter who said about Charlie Adam will sign said Adam Johnson would be a possibility. But how good could he be as a left winger as I question his delivery he too likes to cut in. I know he plays on the right but that's my view....

10 Jul 2011 13:42:34
Why do people keep going on about Mata? It's painfully obvious there is almost no chance of us signing him. Despite everyones gripes we will more than likely get Downing eventually. And it will happen when it happens, so will people just stop guessing when it's going to happen; I'm sick of reading "1-3 days", "24-48 hours" and "the deal will be completed by next Wednesday". What are you people on about? These starments make no sense, how could you possibly no a timeframe of how long a transfer takes to go through. Also any player we sign are a bonus, be happy we are a club in a position to buy players some clubs have not got the privilege of signing bug names. Also have faith in Kenny, he knows what he's doing just look at who he signed in the late 80's

I thought I'd submit a post about Charlie Adam's fitness. I heard an interview on Talksport the other day with a boxer (I never quite caught his name but his surname may have been Rose). Anyway, he said Charlie Adam had been sparring and boxing training with him over the summer to get his body fat down and to build up his muscle. This guy said Charlie has been working really well and wants to keep it up a few times a week when the club return from Asia.

The point I'm making is that, if Charlie Adam ups his fitness levels, we will have a fantastic player on our hands. He will provide vision and passing above what we already have now, putting the ball into really dangerous areas. I was also surprised to read that he is 6ft 1inch so, if he beefs up a bit with the boxing training, we could have across between Alonso and Souness on our hands. I'm not saying he is better than those players but I reckon he'll do a great job for us.

Downing is rightly our main left wing target as he can cross & is a team player with a good work ethic. N'zogbia as a cheaper alternative as he is skillful but not as commited. Mata is a class act but will not hug the touchline or offer anything defensively. Left back is difficult to call & I'd suggest we're waiting to see what defensive qualities the wide player has before deciding on which left back is needed. Centre back, English, young yet proven in EPL to replace/rest Carra as needed - Dann's the man. Striker - depends on shipping out unwanted players but at the end of the window if funds allow I still maintain coverting Theo Walcott into a Michael Owen type striker due to his pace to run off Carroll, Suarez with Charlie Adam, Stevie G, Hendo & Downing supplying the passes is the way to go. I'm well aware people don't rate Walcott but Rush, Owen, Linekar, Henry, Torres all prove a forward with great pace is a real handful. Walcott can finish too given a central role. Anyway happy with progress thus far with more exciting signings to come. A great month ahead, YNWA from ALB.

10 Jul 2011 13:01:49
i have this gut feeling that we will get adam johnson cuz nasri will go to man city and then downing goes to arsenal as for nasri replacement then we will bid for adam johnson the bid of 18 mil
and city will accept the is deal going on with all three clubs (that what i think going to happen) it a triangle

10 Jul 2011 12:58:55
We need Downing and Mata - they offer different things which we could both do with

LFC fan Eds, your thoughts? {Ed009's Note - they would be very good signings together, but I certainly don't think we need both. I imagine we could well see two wingers this window.}

10 Jul 2011 12:44:01
I just hope that if Mata doesn't move to us this year he at least gets transferred somewhere otherwise there's a real chance Mata could become the new Aguero for LFC fans - a player hyped as the answer to all problems and at times wanted more than needed to satisfy the fanbase. One player won't make or beak a team.

10 Jul 2011 12:41:55
morn eds.right boys an girls LETS just settle down there is no need to panic.we are LFC an we can still get class players in with no CL to offer fact .no worry's on that , An players will come that want too play for are GREAT club fact. NEW player's have come in already carrol, super S, jordan, adam, class now are club is in safe hands we dont panic an the owners will not be held to ransom on over priced players as is happaning with transfers right now.now i know u have to pay a fare price but what some clubs want at the min it just crazy prices, are owners an the way they are working it out in house is great.this is team work working well top to bottom at are club now, an i for one LOVE IT. an i think its spot on.there are some weeks to go till the window slams shut chill one an all lets just see who comes in an enjoy.the mood in are camp is pukka, An players for sure are on there way in as we speak....... For gods sake KK and DC, Arsenal according to SSN have bid £18m for Downing. If like the eds keep telling us, he is our priority, stop bloody pussy footing around and pay the money.

As it is we are failing to attract the quality of Mata, we are not going to get him, and so the next best thing is Downing. If we are not quick like others on the forum have said, we will be right back to the start of signing second rate muppets and paying them a fortune as we have got too desperate.

Hi ed regarding Cissokho I know you say were only interested but Arsenal are probably in a better position how much would he cost cause' people are sayin 9m and that can't be right due to their inflated "English club prices" surely?
Thanks great site.
Greg
YNWA. {Ed009's Note - I can't imagine him coming so cheap, unless there are some unforeseen circumstances. In reality nobody will know the price he would cost until somebody makes a bid for the player, who I think we should be willing to go up to around 15 million for.}

Guthro, i've posted my fair share of s**te before, but they'd all win the Pulitzer prize compared to that one you've just posted. To those clamouring, what a stupid and ill thought out comment to make. His results spoke for themselve, the players started playing as a team and some of the football was beautiful to watch, and, the results just got better and better. Thats why the clamour as you put it was so great, you make it sound like K.K is a complete novice you disrespectful t**t. Thats Commoli was brought in to identify players, He's the stats man who noticed that Henderson was in the top 3 opta stats of key passes and how many crosses Downing put in over the last 3 seasons. You dont have a clue how their relationship works . They might even take it in turns to get the drinks and snacks from the vending machine's when playing Fifa looking for 20 year old South American stars they'd never heard of with 60mil pound buyout clauses in them because their knowledge football outside Europe is zilch. I did heard the King does like a Twix and Commoli a Bounty when working on deals though . K.K's results(i dont mean Kevin Kean to the poster who wants us to call the King K.D from now on for fear of a mix up between them) spoke for themselves, thats why the clamour was so great. He showed he's still a manager of the highest calibre to turn a team in turmoil into the second best team in the Prem points wise buy the time he'd finished the season with us end of. Its fans like you who'd always find something to moan about,. Jonson6

You guys are idiots, (eds, if arsenal go for downing will we get mata) arsenal closer than us for mata, downing, gerviniho and enrique, when did they get a new manager then? By my count.downing 20 mil, mata 22m, enrique 8Miland gerviniho 10 plus? Rising to 14? That's over sixty million on four players and this is wenger, get a grip children, we are not I repeat are not going to lose every transfer target to arsenal, capiche? Welshboy Dave

I don't know why we haven't gone in for nzogbia far better, cheaper and younger than downing? I know he doesn't fufill the young english player category but he can play on either wing or upfront your opinion ed?

{Ed006's Note - Good player, he is classed as home grown. Id rather have Downing though, he wouldnt sulk if left on the bench.}

There has been a lot of negativity lately regarding our missed targets. In my opinion they are only a missed target if they choose another destination before us. They are not, in my opinion, a missed target if the clubs fail to agree on a price. LFC will only pay what they believe to be a fair price for a player. Paying over the odds for a player is a poor policy as it is unlikely the club will ever recoup the money in any future dealings. To say we are missing out because we are dilly dallying on price is unfair. DC & KK know who they want and what they are prepared to pay. Sure they will try and get a cheaper price at first, that is only natural. But, I for one, am pleased that we are no longer paying over the odds just to secure a signature, and yes, that does include Carroll and Henderson.

I'm sic of Liverpool football club going for mediocre players why are we going for players such as Henderson n Adams downing they just aren't good enough to put on the Liverpool Jersey . The signings baffle me why aren't we going for players such as nzogbia mata there the Players that will get us to the next level. Why is comolli at our club he has shocking reviews from his previous clubs I have a real bad feeling about him, I hope I'm wrong but we will be a mid table team at best . Ynwa {Ed009's Note - Adam is a far better player than N'Zogbia, who thinks he is a world beater. I can guarantee if we had bought Charles and not Charlie you'd be shouting off in the other way. It's ridiculous, really.}

10 Jul 2011 11:57:15
eds why is everyone talking like we have lost downing? yes it does say on ssn that arsenal have made contact concerning him, but it also says liverpool is his prefered team?

5TIMES {Ed002's Note - I obviously cannot answer the question as to why people say things?}

10 Jul 2011 11:52:20
Here's Some of my sometimes very disagree-able, sometimes unbelievable sometimes(admittedly) foolish sometimes genius bits of logic
1.Do we want Jarvis or don't we. if we do then offer joe cole in part exchange
2.We get both downing and mata and play them in different matchs so for instance every other match
3.All this stuff about Aguero may not be fake because all of the teams that want him do the same thing with players they buy high with a lot of wages then the team doesn't want to forget about there own younger members so they sometimes don't start which lowers self a steam they become usless and then sell low (if torres is sold by Chelsea for less than 45mil then Ed's you have to give me a million pounds) whereas liverpool don't do that because instead of buying the best players in the world they sign one of the best in a certain position
4. If we need to get rid of the people like Aquilani and poulsen which have been called names i cannot repeat why don't we put them up for sale and make them make their own fitness videos
5.Is a question for eds: Out of all the REALISTIC signings that we could make who and why?

10 Jul 2011 11:36:17
why is everyone goin on and on and on about mata ? if kenny wants him he will put a bid in we have to wait and see plus does he want come lfc thats my main question if both answers are no then concentrate on players who want to play for us

10 Jul 2011 11:31:12
I met Stewart Downing, at revolutions bar in harrogate 2 years ago and he said then that his dream club would be Liverpool. However at that time we had made no bid and then clearly opted to go to Aston Villa. So to be honest I doubt he's changed his mind and i think we would still be 1st choice, and also i dont think he'd fancy London.

10 Jul 2011 11:29:03
Arsenal have forced our hand if we get downing great if we don't I think we will get a fantastic left winger regardless

I know for a fact that Aguero was thinking of joining Liverpool in the last two windows. He was in Liverpool with Maxi and had been talking to Insua (when he was in Turkey). I don't have any news at the moment about him still wanting to come to us.

10 Jul 2011 11:13:13
Does anyone else, including the eds, believe that KD and DC are deliberatley making attempts to sign players relatively public to force the hands of other managers and to test the water as to who else is interested.
What I mean is, we let it be known that we want to sign, for example, Downing, Jones or Clichy. This then forces the likes of Mancini, Wenger and Fergie to make their bids and possibly sign them.
This then leaves the way relatively clear to bid for who we really want with at least some of the main rivals removed, as they have already signed someone for that position.
Ok maybe I'm looking too much into it and it's probably not the case, but a nice idea don't you think. {Ed002's Note - No, they are not doing that. If they are, Liverpool will become a complete laughing stock and no clubs will deal with them.}

10 Jul 2011 11:11:51
Those who clamoured for Kenny to be permant manager SHOULD have expected our transfer policy to be English-orientated.
I was never in any doubt that Kenny would largely favour these players.

Adam, Downing, Wickham, Cahill, Dann, Henderson, Jones have Kenny written all over them.
And Sakho, Clichy, Sissoko, Bastos, Lovren, Mata, Suarez, Cissokho, Souleymane Coulibaly, Benzema, Munian all say Comolli.
(I know from which group I'd pick from.)

The fact of the matter is that, should we have appointed say, Deschamps, Puel or Biesla, it would've been Vargas/Bastos over Downing, Sissoko over Adam, Sakho instead of Jones.
Players that would've been far better for us.

But no, we'll go "solid" and "prem proven", which means British... Dalglish's forte, or preferance.
So if people want to be mad at somebody, Dalglish's your man.

If your irate that doors have been shut on Mata, Turan, Vargas in favour of Downing, take it up with Dalglish.
If it irks you that LFC are considering paying £18m+ for Downing, go remonstrate with Dalglish.

Look, Kenny's legend, top notch. I revere the man.
But in all honesty, I was never for his return.
One of many reasons for that is preferance for the overrated and overpriced British players.

Continental Europe and the Americas aren't his forte. He has little, if any, clout and presence in these areas, which have FAR MORE talent than the British could ever offer.

Take a man like Biesla. Massive clout and sway in countries like Chile, Argentina etc who are producing some really top talents right now.

How many of the people calling for the signing of Cissokho, Bastos, Mata, Hazard etc have actually seen these players play regularly? I suspect their opinions are largely based on youtube hilight clips, which do not show mistakes, deficiencies or give an idea of a players character or consistency. It the job of our manager and scouting staff to make these assessments, based on far more information than is available to the fifa warriors who post here.

Kelly, and Flano have both broken into Kennys first eleven since Kennys arrival, both are young and both now have premiership experiance. Both lads will save us millions in the transfer Market, I for one would have these 2 in my starting eleven this season, both are hungry and both are players who want to play for us and give there all. We also have Coady, Sterling, Morgan and Suso who all warrent squad numbers this season.

KK and DC have an abundance of young players coming through so the millions they do have to spend need to be spent wisely on the best players in anyone position ie Mata or Sissokho, Sakho, Benzema etc etc.

Get rid of as much of the deadwood then add youth and quality to KK first eleven, then we will start going places.

Hi Ed's,
With us signing adam and henderson, will we only need one winger? Henderson will primarily play on the right, and adam can occasionaly drift out to the left. I think we will go all out for downing. What do you think?
Thanks,
RedManYNWA {Ed002's Note - Downing is the number one target.}

ssn confirm an 18m bid from Arsenal. Must admit i was little dissapointed when we went for Downing in the beginning, probably cause i was more keen on Mata. But the more i look at his profile, reputation and stats etc, the more i think he would be a great success at LFC. ynwa

Now arsenal are in for downing that means we will have to pay at least £20m for him. Why do we keep making 2-3 bids for player then haggle, alert other teams then lose out?

10 Jul 2011 10:50:16
Ed could you answer a question for me? Why did kk get rid of John Aldridge all those years ago after he had 2 un believable seasons? I know it's a bit of track to the normal questions {Ed002's Note - I really don't know but perhaps another poster can chip in with an answer.}

10 Jul 2011 10:38:41
Ed is we buy downing do you think we will buy another winger as well? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps - certainly I could not say with confidence that another winger will arrive.}

10 Jul 2011 10:49:03
Think if I hear "smoke screen" 1 more time I will scream. The club aren't releasing names therefore the can't be smoke screens just people getting things wrong. If that's not enough to convince you why would kk bang on about doing things the Liverpool way then go round unsettling players he has no interest in just so he can sign other players?

10 Jul 2011 10:44:21
Now arsenal move in on downing, price will go up and/or we miss out on another target. Hurry up DC/KK get our players bought or we'll end up with 2nd or 3rd choice players

Sky sports: Arsenal make contact with villa about Downing.... Good now go for Mata

10 Jul 2011 10:40:23
Has anyone seen Stewart Downings goal scoring stats?
They are awful

2001-2009 = 181 app // 17 goals

2009-2011 = 63 app // 9 goals

I just thought i'd through that one out there because personally there are many other wingers out there that in my opinion could do a better job. Also remenber he's 27 in 12 days. Olipool

Why do you all go on as if the money for stuey downing is coming out of your own pocket? If the club want to pay 20 million for him let them get on with it He'll be great service for big Carroll.

Interview with ex liverpool legend ronnie whelan on irish radio this morning.KD will have the deadwood gone by the end of the season.He is a gentleman on and of the field, but if he wants you gone it will happen.He has a ruthless streak when it comes to liverpool f.c.By the time he is finished unleashing it even the high wages the unwanted earn will not make them want to stay.He will find an outlet for them one way or the other.p.s joe cole is going to hamburg.(RD.RED)

I wish people would stop playing Championship manager or whatever else they are playing. Pulling names out of a hat and saying that we should buy them. We are NOT Man city. Let the people who know pick the players and trust in their judgement. Liverpool do not need Mata etc at the moment. We need proven Premiership players to compliment the likes of Suarez not replacements for them. Yes, we do need to build a squad capable of challenging for the top trophies but we cannot afford to break the bank for players who would only play as a back up. Not sure about Downing but trust the manager if that is the player that he wants. Liverpool are doing business behind the scenes and in secrecy, let them get on with it so crack on with all of those jobs around the house that needs to be done and wait for the season to start. when it does start i shall tell you who we have DEFINATELY bought and who we have, nt. Not long to go now so get busy and leave the buying of players alone.

Just speculation on my part: Roma have now signed Bojan and Lamela, what do you think our chances are of getting them to part with Menez?

For me he is a class player and can play both flanks and through the middle and may be slightly down the pecking order now.

yesil the german centre forward definitely catches the eye everytime he players is he 1 of the targets?

Although I think Kk has the situation in hand, I couldn't really sit here and read all these notes regarding the 2 top class midfieldersnthat we are on the verge of losing to other top European teams, , , in a period where we are losing out on targets and struggling to attract out of form mediocre players (clichy, wickham et al) why are we considering even the notion of letting meireles and aquaman leave/be sold. So what, aquaman hasn't settled but for gods sake HE signed a contract, HE lane made the decision to come to our great club He along with meireles and stevie g could make up the most stylish and productive midfield trio in the prem and could compete with the majority of midfields in European football In essence I do understand that youth is key (although mainly on a financial focus) but we are liverpool and these players should be allowed settle and gel and fix from they're injuries. I watched aqua at the end of his first season and after gaining a shard of match fitness he was immense, my say doesn't matter but I think meireles was a revelation for us last year, I'm just genuinely gutted we will never see these players bossing a game like I feel they could. I only hope the players lined up to fill the void they leave are of the same ilk because we will be losing class, cultured players.

Just my opinion, keep up the good work eds.

Hey Eds, what's the news on James Milner? Heard a couple of weeks ago he could be a summer signing and it sounded feasible. Also, what's the deal with Downing? I'd us rather get Mata, don't rate Downing. {Ed029's Note - Downing looks the most likely, I'm afraid I'm not sure that there is any interest in Milner}

{Ed001's Note - it can mean a number of things, but in this case I expect us to go back in with a higher bid.}
--------------------

Do you (Ed001/002/009) think this is a serious bid & that we'd definitely follow it up?
Sorry, i know you guys are only human & only know so much about LFC with the new "in house" dealings.
Just looking for yer take on the situation.
Isn't Bastos about to turn 28 as well which would mean he's the same age as Raul?
It seems a strange one from that point - not a bad one by any means, in fact i'm slightly relieved & excited personally that we are not just looking at the Henderson' of this world.
Bastos at £12m is a good deal surely if it happens.
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - it must be remembered that we have Robinson and Sterling coming through on the left, we don't need a long term player for there. We need someone who is ready to come in flying, rather than one for the future.}

10 Jul 2011 02:12:02
Ed002 call me thick but whats a strategy bid for Bastos and why is it like Suarez's. I know we started off with a crap bid for him and then got him for around 22. What does it mean, that we'll go back with another bid. Chopper Read {Ed001's Note - it can mean a number of things, but in this case I expect us to go back in with a higher bid.}

im getting a bit worried me Is no-one else ? Were spending big money on players that aren't worth what were paying. Only suarez was worth the money, he's a class act but the others were spending on are ridiculous, its still going to be tough breaking into that top 4 with the mancs, arsenal, chelsea and now city probably going to be there for a while as the top 4 teams, its still going to be difficult to win a trophy, with all this spending were doing im worried that if we finish 5th for the next 2-3 seasons and win no silverware were just going to be in debt 2 with another 2 clowns from america

King Kenny & Comolli with surely some input from Keen & Clarke being backed by FSG. I'm 100% certain that LFC have carefully considered their targets. So why is there so much panic. Look how well KK has done since taking over. He knows what it takes to win the league as a player & a coach.
