I said the other day we should stick with a winning team, especially in a Derby!

For me, the changes should have have been made on Weds against WBA, the team fourth trom bottom!

I was at the match today and whilst we should have one, for me the game would have been put to bed if we'd continued wkth the the team that played so well against Moscow. Playing Henderson was a big mistake in my opinion, yes he's the captain but he's not been playing well and needs to warrant is place again.

The smoker Lovren is moved on the better, once again costing us points with a basic error.

Totally agree, it's not worth the risk. We can moan about the penalty but if we're 3-0 up by then, it matters little.
Fair enough mane could have squared it and other may have scored still, but this is our derby game, play your best team.

11 Dec 2017 08:04:52
Klopp has been rotating for weeks now to avoid the exact thing that Conte was moaning about, tiredness after their loss to WH. How do you stick with a winning team when Cou was not fit to start and we are trying to avoid another collapse like last winter? He rotated. The team was never in danger and Mane was the one who cost us.

Also, who's to say that had we played our best team, we would have won? Had Cou played injured and he got hurt even more, you would not be saying what you are saying now so the hindsight BS needs to stop esp. if you do not have the information that the manager has on players'fitness levels during preparations. You cannot analyse a situation without having information. That is simply impossible to do.

11 Dec 2017 09:16:38
The attack was going nowhere as there is no chemistry among the players.

10 Dec 2017 22:49:53
Many years ago the reds were beaten in the cup at the third time of asking by Arsenal. After the game Bob Paisley said he should have been horsewhipped for leaving out Steve Heighway. After todays debacle it would have been nice to to hear Klopp apologise rather than blame the referee his team selection was ridiculous, six changes and Milner and Henderson midfield. Such arrogance or stupidity I don't know which it is.

10 Dec 2017 23:37:58
This result Puts to the bed the hendo debate.
Needs to be a bench player. Klopp cost us with the team selection in a massive game and I start to question his ambitions. City wouldn't leave out Kevin or Silva in the derby. Why leave out bobby and Coutinho.
We don't want 2/ 3rd. it's like we are aiming for 6th or 5th.

11 Dec 2017 00:01:17
I'm no huge fan of Hendo, but I fail to see how this puts any debate to bed? Every time he got the ball he had the entire everton team in front of him. He sprayed it around, kept it neat, tried to open things up. Yes his shooting's terrible lately but I'm not so sure we have anyone who would have done a lot more than him in this game. I'm not saying he had a good game, but would Can or Wini have done a lot more?
If Mane squares that ball then we go in 2 up and they have to come out and chase the game. Being just a goal down allows them to sit back and wait for the 1 chance they needed. 2 up and they have to come out and it could have been 4 and we wouldn't have to put up with all the whingers.

11 Dec 2017 13:05:19
Klopp would of got slaughtered if he made no changes and we lost, his team was more than good enough to win today, but take the point and move on to Wednesday.

10 Dec 2017 22:27:52
Was surprised with team selection but liked it as it shows our squad is getting stronger.

We do need to rotate and Klopp is learning lessons about EPL

Mane should have squared for a tap in but he was through on goal and he shouldn't have missed the target. It was a split second decision which he got wrong.

Salah header close but not blaming him for missing target on the one. He is going to convert more of his chances eventually and then watch out.

It was a penalty. Soft and stupid thing to do by Lovren.

Disappointing result but not Klopp's fault.

Look to get 3 points off WBA and close on Chelski and Man Utd.

At the moment I think that we are developing into a stronger squad and with some more hard word we can finish top four and have two good cup runs.

Liked it that Klopp showed anger in his interview as it means he cares about the derby.

Its history now and we move on and he will get the team up for WBA .

Believable8 Unbelievable4

10 Dec 2017 23:32:47
Tommy, Klopp should get to know how much the fans are up for the Derby game, then to hear that he had made 6 changes, it took the edge from the game, also I thought too many players were in a comfort zone, it was nearly too easy at times,
we should have got the 2nd goal before we took our foot off the pedal,
if only Mane had made the easy pass, making it 2 goals up going into half time .

10 Dec 2017 17:29:05
Good performance poor result wasn't a pen imo but the ref had a poor game through out. Said to my boy the chance with mane not squaring the ball could cost us. Weird seeing big Sam on their bench, how do you feel about the appointment Ed25?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im not a fan to be honest ace, you
let us off the hook big time and klopp even though im a massive fan messed up in a big way, we were very lucky mate but to be fair i cant remember pickford making a save in the match..

10 Dec 2017 22:10:52
Neither can I remember Migs making a save either, Ed. Klopp did nothing wrong iMO. We got the lead and had Sadio not become a selfish snowflake, it would have been 2-0 and then, you would have been buried. That is not Klopp's fault as I'm sure he did not instruct Mane to do that. Also, even a near reserve LFC side bossed your lot BUT that is not saying much as Big Scam will be poison for your lot and you agreed w/ that in the past, with the dinosaur/ stone age footie he will have you playing. The less said about the penalty, the better, IMO. All in all, you can't win them all so we take the positives. Our squad rotation is working well, we are 4th, 2 off 3rd and 5 off 2nd so we move on to WBA.

{Ed025's Note - if your happy with a draw at home to everton then who am i to argue mate..

10 Dec 2017 22:47:44
Ed25, we had a bit of banter when mane “assaulted” ederson against Citeh, but I will admit that was a penalty all day la, the only place Calvert lewin was going was onto Anfield road and into Everpool for a burger and chips and and dopey lump Lovren just had to push him in the back right in front of the ref, stone Waller for me la

However, it may be a blessing I disguise for us cos Klopp surely must be thinking of a CB in January

Also, did anyone else wonder why Robertson kept ending up in central midfield or was it just me?

Fair result for me, it’s all well and good having 75% possession, but if you don’t convert your chances, that’s down to the opposition defending well against what is in front of them.

{Ed025's Note - it was a very soft penalty KR and lovren had no need to make contact at all, i dont know about a fair result though mate if it had been a boxing match it would have been stopped at half time..

10 Dec 2017 23:00:48
Fair comment ed25 Everton defended well.

11 Dec 2017 08:25:29
Ed25, trust me, I am not happy w/ a draw vs any team at home under any circumstances so be it Everton or not, don't care who it is against. I'm disappointed with the result and with Mane's conduct. Not surprised that Everton defended with their lives as that is what Big Scam does well. However, we had a chance to make it 2-0 and should have banked it BUT Mane did a boo-boo. You need to thank him for that. We move on to the next game and nothing more.

{Ed025's Note - games like that happen in football brover, liverpool are great and everton are crap= a draw...its just the way it is mate..

10 Dec 2017 19:37:54
A point gained against Chelsea and Man U - never easy to win after European games. Only 2 of the top 6 won.

Bring on West Brom and fingers crossed our Fab Four will be back.

C’mon Ed001’s boys, I’m getting a 🇧🇷 😳.

{Ed001's Note - don't let me down SoK!}

10 Dec 2017 20:34:24
Truly astonishing how the community of this site has grown and how something like this can now take place. Huge thumbs up to benny baller and everyone taking part. Shame that i am both on holiday at the time and almost certainly too bad at football to play😂.

{Ed001's Note - you sound perfectly suited to Ed002's team to me.}

10 Dec 2017 20:35:00
Easy win for ed1s Brazilian Army 💪.

10 Dec 2017 20:49:12
No chance gaffer, I’m reliable at the back like Phil Neal (or is that Neil from the young ones🤢) and like Cafu going forward (or is that cat food 🤔) .
We can’t loose, we’ve got 23Carra and MK Scouser. with the Raver as skipper - the 2018 invincibles.

{Ed001's Note - with raver providing the refreshments, I doubt you will even know what the score is anyway!}

10 Dec 2017 20:56:24
I hope I don't let the boyos down by conceding a penalty with a needless shove.

10 Dec 2017 21:11:38
Its just all become real. at 31 am i passed it compared to othe players? Every team needs experiance!

{Ed001's Note - I think you are one of the younger members of my squad mate. We are going for experience and talent over youth and enthusiasm. Plus we have MKS to write the match report and lie about how brilliant you all played....}

10 Dec 2017 21:34:29
Would i lie Ed? 😂

Great charity choice by the way, both of you guys. Looking forward to scoring 6 goals against that mob though Ed001 😉.

Any chance of a live stream? ;)

{Ed007's Note - There probably is using that periscope thing folk use for live sex shows and video games...... so I've heard.......

11 Dec 2017 13:11:49
IS this going to be an actual physical game? amazing.

{Ed033's Note - Yes, this is an actual physical football match between 2 teams of posters.

10 Dec 2017 19:57:36
It was touched on briefly in the live chat, and apologies Ed’s as I know it’s not strictly Liverpool related, but how do we help out referees? They have one view point with a little bit of help from the linesman and 4th official but 9 time’s out of ten it is down to them and they have only a few seconds to make a decision. We, as fans, get plenty of angles so why can’t another official have this footage to give them a hand, they still won’t get all decisions correct but it will help and wouldn’t slow the game down.
Just interested to see other posters opinions on how we help the men in the middle.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - This is the difficulty of moving to a video assistant - where do you draw the line without killing the flow of the game. I am in the don't give them any help, suck it up and move on camp.}

10 Dec 2017 20:04:35
Agree with Ed002 🤝.

10 Dec 2017 20:15:38
Agree Ron, human factor is part of the game, years ago we didn’t know if the ref was right or wrong afterthought game and we just got on with it. Today we cost ourselves, Mane squares the ball it’s 2-0 game over. That’s the weakest Everton team I’ve ever seen, we should have buried them but didn’t so suck it up.

10 Dec 2017 20:20:55
Agree 100% with Ed.

10 Dec 2017 20:29:31
Agreed ed I don’t want the game slowing down it was more just someone watching the game from a far, and constantly in contact with the ref rather than the review system in cricket as that just wouldn’t work.

{Ed001's Note - it is not working anywhere they are trying VAR, it has been a mess.}

10 Dec 2017 20:42:12
Fair enough Ed001, it’ll be interesting to see how it works in the fa cup game with palace.

{Ed001's Note - have a look at the Bundesliga, it has been shambolic there, though sometimes it has worked, it has just stalled the game for so long it makes it a mess.}

10 Dec 2017 20:58:15
since it seems like everytime someone scores, we have to do a 30 sec dance, hug your teammates for another 30 secs and shout with the fans for another 30, couldn't we have a minute after the goal is scored to review whether there are any misdemeanors, similar to the NFL where (and for football only) scoring plays are reviewed, no challenges or booth reviews for anything unless it's a goal, penalty decisions? Give the penalty and then look at it on the video, the worry is it'd then slow down the game but after a goal/ giving a penalty the game is dead anyway, what do you think eds?

{Ed001's Note - that would be ok, just for goals but that is such a small part of the problem that people want fixed that I don't see it would be worth it. Just man up, refs make mistakes, as do players and manager, just get on with it when it goes against you.}

10 Dec 2017 21:52:20
I always like to look at a refs decision and see what we as a team did wrong for that situation to happen and what we did wrong in the build up to the incident. It doesn't apply to all situations obviously, but if we look at today, either Mane hit it behind Firmino (sloppy pass) or Firmino was backheeling it to no one in red, either way had Mane passed better or Firmino did something else, that penalty may never happened. No point in blaming ref, blame the things you can control.

10 Dec 2017 22:25:27
Spot on, Welsh. Mane squares that ball, there are Ox, Solanke and Salah waiting to tap it in and there is no way he misses all of them. That is what we can control and his selfishness cost us the game. Not the pen, lineup, rotation, or the ref even tho, he was poor. We score there, no issue, 3 points we move on.

11 Dec 2017 06:01:25
What we can control is Lovren acting like a central defender and actually clearing the ball with his head instead of watching it bounce behind him.

11 Dec 2017 08:11:08
Got to say I'm one of the video ref fans. Your right, it will slow down the game but there is wonderful drama to be had in rugby waiting for a result from the tv official. Unfortunately simulation has surpassed conventional methods of refereeing and the fabled man behind the goal has merited little success. And just how far does it go before there is too much? Start with offsides, hand balls and penalties and play to the whistle.

{Ed002's Note - To some extent rugby is already a stop start game and the number of scores is higher than football.}

11 Dec 2017 11:32:21
I totally agree there ed2 but I'm suggesting that the video ref can possibly add to the game. Yep it's a dreadful thought to the purists but in fairness, football is the greatest game in the world because it changes with the times. Who would have thought blatter splatter would actually help the game? Let alone the inclusion of no back pass etc. Yep, the old silver goal didn't really work but it was attempted. I'm only suggesting we shouldn't be afraid to try something new.

{Ed002's Note - Traditionally various cup competitions have been used to try something new - moving offside to be in line with the penalty area rather than half way, kick ins instead of throw ins etc.. My rear remains the stop-start nature it would cause. It has been discussed on and off for many years and I would think eventually you will see it being used on a regular basis - and then the argument would be there to expand it.}

10 Dec 2017 19:51:32
For those who want to blame Lovren for today's draw, please consider Mane's (selfishness) failure to square the ball. That was 2 - 0 all day long! As a derby, the game was dire and Everton's tactics were shocking. Ox, Gomez, Salah, Klavan and Henderson played well.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

10 Dec 2017 19:56:21
no it was lovren.

10 Dec 2017 20:04:41
I don't blame mané either.

10 Dec 2017 20:05:23
Hoped someone gave Manè a slap at half-time for not passing that ball.

10 Dec 2017 20:08:57
No, it was Mane. Lovren had a very good game and it is arguable if it was even a pena;lty cos Lewin flopped like a fish diving into water.

Mane had a poor game all night. He was playing for himself and trying to take on all comers like he had a point to prove. The chance he disgracefully missed was awful. Solanke worked hard to win the ball and set him on his way. There are 3 LFC players free for a tap in and he goes alone. What the Freak is that? We were never going to have loads of chances in this game so you better bury the ones you have and in a big game, the win is more important than personal gain. Mane is clearly not getting that memo. The reason our front line is potent is cos they are unselfish. The day that gets eroded then we are finished. He'd better get with the programme or get canned cos he's been doing that of late. Check the Spartak game and see for yourself.

10 Dec 2017 20:15:08
Absolutely Mane deserves a ticking off as much as Dejan.

10 Dec 2017 20:21:37
If I was a manager and my player did that he’d be sat next to me before the goal kick was taken. Mane cost us the game today undoubtedly. 2-0 up at half time would’ve crushed them instead the game was left in the balance meaning one wrong decision could get them a point which it did. Calvert lewins clever play and dive fooled the moronic ref who is without doubt one of the worst in the league. He gave the penalty Rooney smashed it down the middle and our keeper dived out of the way. Mane’s greed cost us our cushion which our lack of cost us the game.

10 Dec 2017 20:39:41
Spot on, Jezza. But the moaners will be out on here claming to be hindsight geniuses, blaming the line up or Lovren who did absolutely nothing wrong as Lewin threw his body into him and flopped to the ground. Why? Cos that is the easy route to go to.

10 Dec 2017 20:48:25
Klopps fault dropping players in such a big game! Fumin over the result we should o destroyed them like Sparta then rest players!
Wrong team for me and massive 2 points dropped against the worst Everton team in years!

10 Dec 2017 21:00:25
We lost this at the stroke of half time when Mane instead of passing tried his luck. Very unintelligent of him.

Resting players was correct as we had more 70% possession. Can't blame Lovern either.

Cheers.

10 Dec 2017 21:20:47
there is a difference between not squaring all pass when quite frankly you have the ability to score yourself anyway, and pushing someone over in the box when he’s going nowhere. It’s not an isolated incident regularly through poor decisions or lapse of concentration, lovren got it wrong again today he’s just not good enough.

10 Dec 2017 22:32:21
Barnes, you are contradicting yourself, royally. Mane had no ability to score from there cos there simply was NO angle for the shot as defenders were closing in and Pinky shut out the near post hence, making it difficult for Mane to pick out the far post with his weaker left foot. Had he squared it with his left there were 3 players in Solanke, Salah and Ox waiting and there is NO way he misses all 3 of them with the square ball.

Also, how can you compare the above with Lovren's "push" which in fact, was not a push? How could he have gotten "it" wrong / o actually doing "it"? See the action again via replay from the ref's view. Lewin initiates the contact by barging into Lovren to draw the contact and cos Lovren is bigger and Lewin flopped to the ground like he was shot in the back, the ref got conned. There is NO relationship btw both actions as Mane WAS selfish and Lovren pushed no one.

10 Dec 2017 23:49:56
BR, Lovren was clumsy, he should have headed away the cross, great cross from Rooney by the way, then he got too near Lewin, giving him the chance to make the most of it, Lovren fell for it, the Ref fell for it, and it partly cost us two very important points, as well as the Bragging rites,
Mane wanted centre stage today, we live and learn .

10 Dec 2017 23:51:51
Mane cost us this game.

not klopp
not refreee
not lovern or the everton player who went down.

if the same thing had happened at the other there would haven't been much comolaints.

11 Dec 2017 06:06:22
Lovren should have headed the ball, like defenders do - result 1-0.
Mane was selfish, so was Salah for the goal. If that had hit the post and gone wide then would we be moaning at Salah?
Paisley to Rush before he started acting regularly: If you're in the box and you don't know whether to pass or shoot, put the ball in the net and we'll talk about it later.

10 Dec 2017 19:45:36
Everton rolled over today and we didn't beat them. IMO no matter how you dress it up, we messed up and dropped 2 points, and for me, Klopp has to take the blame. Out of the players available, the team selected was no where near our strongest and for a merseyside derby that's not good enough. I don't think in anyway was it a pen and Lovren was silly in giving CL an opportunity to make it a pen. When they are for your team you take them.
Klopp tried to be clever and ended up with egg on his face. This was not rotation, it was klopp being clever for the sake of it and must carry the can.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

10 Dec 2017 19:58:03
Barring lovers balls up we were winning so klopp never really got it wrong. A lot of our players have played a lot of minutes and we’re approaching the busiest part of the season.

10 Dec 2017 20:06:26
I agree with you the team that thumped moscow must of been buzzing and full of confidence yet klopp leaves 6 of them out i understand its a busy period and giving players a rest but I think this was the wrong game to do it klopps desisions baffle me sometimes.

10 Dec 2017 20:07:52
KLOPP on man. 1 shot on target from a pen that shouldn't have been and he got it wrong?
Did conte get it wrong as his players were TIRED?

10 Dec 2017 20:13:17
Tommy, Another hindsight post that makes little sense. Johnbarnes is right. Klopp got it right and it would not have mattered cos regardless of lineup, Everton were going to play the same way. Lovren had a good game as he had nothing to do. One can even argue if it was a pen. cos Lewin flew to the ground like he got shot in the back. If you are peeved, you should direct your attention to Mane who messed up a glorious chance in the first half by going alone with 3 LFC players waiting for the square ball for a 2-0 tap-in. But heylet's blame Klopp cos well, he told Mane to be a selfish player. Total nonsense. Klopp got it right and cos we did not win does not make it a wrong lineup.

10 Dec 2017 21:22:00
Agree totally brover.

10 Dec 2017 22:46:56
Spot on, Taytoman. Disagree, redsteeve. Every man and his dog knows that Klopp is rotating for this busy period where we have been playing every 3 days for the past 3 weeks and frankly, we have been more than successful as we have picked up 17 points from 21 and qualified for the CL KO stages. If you did not know that he would rotate today so as to keep our boys fresh then, that is not Klopp's fault. As for the lineup, neither you nor I have the info on players fitness, injuries, fatigue and energy levels which influence selection decisions before games so how you can draw conclusions w/ o having the info to analyse, is what is truly baffling.

He put a team out there that was more than good enough to win and they WERE winning had the ref not had a knob-head moment and got conned into giving them a pen. Are you blaming Klopp for the ref's brainfart as well? Are you blaming Klopp for Mane being a jerk and not passing to his team mates for a tap in cos Mane played in midweek vs Moscow? If the answers to the questions are no then I don't see what you could possibly be moaning about.

10 Dec 2017 19:37:54
A point gained against Chelsea and Man U - never easy to win after European games. Only 2 of the top 6 won.

Bring on West Brom and fingers crossed our Fab Four will be back.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

10 Dec 2017 18:32:01
I found milners selection baffling. He is poor in midfield I honestly don't and never had rated him but I'm not going to pull him apart. To rest players and them bring them on for the win has never made sense to me. Play them get into a position to win then rest them. Solanke looked out of his depth today and was on the pitch far too long today he should of been subbed earlier as he was anonymous today. To me Everton never troubled us but the selection stifled us. It was never a penalty but that's football. Just wish we had played pur strongest line-up got into a comfortable position and then rested players.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

10 Dec 2017 18:47:29
If you think Milners poor try watching Lukaku.

10 Dec 2017 19:11:28
Not picking Coutinho and Firmino to start really cost us today.
Pick Firmino and Coutinho, get a 3 goal lead after an hour and then take them off.

Klopp took a big gamble today on Solanke and Milner. His gamble back-fired.

10 Dec 2017 19:24:58
Ron
I thought Solanke did well.

10 Dec 2017 19:28:43
Coutinho was carrying a knock, missed training friday didn't he! every big team leaves big players on d bench every week. the eleven players we had on the pitch played Everton off the park. He's resting players this season in a hectic period, the very thing everyone was moaning we couldn't do last season with a smaller squad. if Manè passes to make it 2-0 the games over.

10 Dec 2017 19:39:30
got to agree 100 per cent, start with your best team, we would then have got 2 or 3 goals, then take off a couple of the better players .
my view is that Klopp does not understand what playing against Everton means to our fans,
making 6 changes was always going to take an edge off our play,
way too many safe passes,
Lovren actually missing the cross, then getting too near the attacker, meaning there was then contact, giving the Ref a chance to give the pen,
had Lovren just guided the player away from the goal, they would never have scored,
dont want to go to heavy on Lovren, but he cost us that goal,
to be fair, the cross from Rooney was I would say the best pass of the game,
I hope that Klopp learns something from this game,
sorry to say it, but he messed up again today,
If Mane had have passed when we had 3 or was it 4 against 3, end of first half, we would be enjoying a great win,
just to finish off,
Klopp should have left rotating the team for the game on Wed night, not against Everton .
Rant over .

10 Dec 2017 19:50:53
Not bashing him at all but solanke was anonymous today. Really not sure what game you watched supermane. But on the other hand if mane was less selfish we wouldn't be picking the bones out of it.

10 Dec 2017 20:04:35
Milner, Henderson, Moreno, Matip, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Klavan and Mignolet all receive certain flack from a minority to a large majority of fans varying on each player. Whether unjustified or deserved they still split opinion amongst fans but are all still regular first teamers under Klopp. Whether fans like them or defend them doesn't make a difference as they are all starting games regularly this season, so the only person who matters whether they rate them or not appears to be giving them his vote of confidence. Klopps stubbornness to continue with some of the named above could prove to be our handbrake this season.

10 Dec 2017 20:19:16
Questioning the lineup after a result is nothing but low hanging fruit nonsense as none of us here has the info the manager has based on fitness levels and knocks that players are carrying so to me, it is a lazy way of analysing a game.

The lineup we put out did the job and got a goal and should have been out of sight at 2-0 had Mane not been a total jerk and not square the ball to Ox and Salah for a tap in. Did the klineup affect that or is that Klopp's fault and instructed Mane to be a jerk? All in all, we had that game won and did not make hay while the sun was out, period. On the pen. Lewin dived and got lucky. We should have never been in that position cos at 2-0 up, we would have been home and dry.

10 Dec 2017 20:22:24
Jay, Klopp really does have a lots of strong points, but ha baffles me with his strange team selection and use of his subs,
sadly, this is happening far too often,
so the term Handbrake is a very good one .

10 Dec 2017 20:34:13
Had Mane been unselfish and passed to Salah or The Ox just before had time we would have been 2-0 up. Or had Lovren not fallen for Calvert-Lewins buying a Pen we would have won 1-0.
Not playing Firmino and Coutinho did not matter today, if not for individual errors we would have won.

10 Dec 2017 20:37:27
Jordan Henderson is our Achilles heel, no sense of attack, slows the play down, just look at our performances without him.

10 Dec 2017 20:42:57
Happy, did you have a problem with Klopp rotating when we have been winning games of late? If the answer is no and you were not slating him back then, please don't come out with that hindsight genius business on here as it won't work. The lineup is a non issue cos we were winning and in full control of the game. Did you consider that?

I never had an issue with Klopp rotating then cos we were winning and picking up points so I don't have a prob with it now as that did not cost us the game today. Mane's selfishness and an incompetent ref cost us.

Rant over .

10 Dec 2017 22:54:58
Happy, Klopp has been rotating for weeks now and we have picked up 17 out of 21 points so if you did not know that Klop would rotate today then sorry, you are at fault for not being attentive. That is not Klopp's fault and NO, he does not have to play his best team all the time. Conte played his best team for the past 4 games and got undone at WH. He admitted that his team was tired. This is what Klopp is trying to avoid as the busy period will kill you if you don't rotate and Klopp does not care in what game you do it in as all our games ar big games in the PL now and in the CL.

Also, it has been mentioned here repeatedly that Cou had a knock and did not train on Fri and had Klopp risked him and got further injured, would you have applauded Klopp for taking the chance? Also, do you have the info that Klopp has regarding players' fitness, energy levels, injuries and so on, all things that influence the selection process? I don't and nobody does and since that is the case, you nor I cannot say what we would do in Klopp's place as you don't have the info he has, plain and simple.

10 Dec 2017 18:05:01
Let's look at the bright side today. Gomez and Robertson were great today. As many have noted I really hope Klopp doesn't blow too much $ on a new CAB and gives Gomez a chance. I am impressed with Moreno's turn around but have zero fears of Roberston. I hope to never see Milner at L back ever again.

Was it me or was Ox good as well. Seemed to interchange easily with others and very much fits our style of play.

Finally, it sucks we need because of a soft penalty. All the talk of Klopps mistake it not starting the Fab four is Mane blew and open goal, Salah a somewhat open header and we had 70 percent possession with literally nothing from the blues. If they convered any chances people would be praising Klopp and the rotation. It was just one of those days which are becoming far me few in between. Keep your heads up. ymwa.

10 Dec 2017 18:19:46
Still need a new CB, Gomez can play with them.

10 Dec 2017 18:33:55
'Robertson were great today ' - NO!

the 3 English midfielder Milner - Henderson - AOC are clueless.

10 Dec 2017 18:51:12
Robertson was great today.

10 Dec 2017 18:51:12
Robertson was great today.

10 Dec 2017 18:54:54
What game was you watching backspace robertson had a very good game strange what some people see. Your be stateing him on here next.

10 Dec 2017 18:58:28
Thought robertson played ok today if I was being really critical though I think a lot of his crosses are just hit for the sake of it rather than looking for a teammate.

10 Dec 2017 19:10:59
Robertson was good until the final ball
Once he masters the art of crossing he should be fine.

10 Dec 2017 19:43:41
I thought that Robertson had a decent game, his crossing, which is one of his strenghts, was poor today, Solanke also had a decent game, but should have came on as a sub,
its two points lost .

10 Dec 2017 19:43:41

10 Dec 2017 22:58:29
Robbo is still learning the system and tho he crosses the ball and has decent shape on them, they are not well-targeted as they seem to evade everyone. Crossing for crossing sake is not good enough. This is where Moreno is better as he has better and more variation to his crosses as you don't know if he will fire it across goal, bend it to a specific area or cut the ball back. There is a reason he plays ahead of Robbo and also as to why he has 3 assists this season. Robbo needs to improve a lot before he can dislodge Albie.

11 Dec 2017 09:44:29
I wasn't particularly impressed with Robertson yesterday he had the opportunity to stretch Everton more than he did. He had the beating and Rooney and Kenny and didn't take advantage and often just passed it back to Milner and I don't think any of his crosses led to anything. Wasn't a bad performance but certainly wasn't great.

10 Dec 2017 17:34:52
Well that was very annoying to say the least, think Everton will be very happy with that point there as they Truely didn’t turn up today at all in my eyes, Lovren has too try use experience seeing what was coming DCL has gone down little to easy few times I’ve seen him, Klopp has and will need face questions with his selections today and for me very much on decision take Salah off when game wasn’t won yet .

Believable4 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2017 17:55:00
Don't think we can lay the blame with lovren today after all its a contact sport they are playing. There was absolutely no push on Calvert Lewin and he should be done for diving because call a spade a spade that's what it was and we were completely screwed by a very poor refereeing decision. The one that cost us today is mane unfortunately through his own search for glory. Its unforgivable what he done and he should sit out a game or 2 to think about letting his teammates down.

10 Dec 2017 18:17:43
There is absolutely no excuse to put his hands on his back in that position. The striker is always going to make the most of any contact. Did he buy the penalty, of course, but don’t give him the chance.

You give the referee a decision to make then don’t be surprised when they occasionally make a poor one.

10 Dec 2017 18:23:27
So it was a dive then wassa. Then he should now be reprimanded for conning the official.

10 Dec 2017 18:25:17
Disagree wassa, hardly a push, put his hands up to stop himself from body checking Lewin and he dives, poor refing in my book, but we move on.

10 Dec 2017 18:52:30
If anything Calvert Lewin stepped into lovren but somehow Craig what's his face sees it as a penalty. No way was it a pen. The refereeing in the premier league is nothing short of abysmal bar 2 or 3 decent refs. The referee and mane cost liverpool today and nothing to do with personnel or tactics. Liverpool were coasting the game unthreatned until the poor decision and should have already been out of sight anyway if it was not for mane's selfish play #theteamcomesfirst#.

10 Dec 2017 19:51:04
yes Redmick, Calvert Lewin stepped into Lovren, then went down too easy for me,
But we are talking about an International defender, who should have read and headed away the cross from Rooney, great cross it was, ok, Lovren misses the cross, then falls into the trap, giving the Ref the choice to make, pen or no pen,
we should have been 3 goals up at that stage,
ask Klopp why he made six changes for a massive derby game .

10 Dec 2017 20:29:33
Happy, if you think we should have won by 3 goals and we did not, Klopp is not your prob. Mane is, as he had a poor game and don't get me started on the pathetic excuse of a pen that the ref gave. Lewin threw himself at Lovs, and flopped to the ground and the ref (who seemed keen on giving Everton something all game) bought it.

10 Dec 2017 21:22:43
Mane had a poor game no doubt about it. Mane normally makes the right decision but not to pass for a certain goal was as bad as Lovren giving away the cheap penalty. When Salah went off we ran out of ideas. The subs contributed nothing at all.

Salah is our number one player, without him we would be about 7th IMO.

10 Dec 2017 17:32:55
Just a big pat on the back to young Joe Gomez
Another brilliant performance today
This kid is looking more and more special each game.

10 Dec 2017 17:59:12
Totally agree thought h was man of match.

10 Dec 2017 19:53:07
got to agree Gomez was our best player,
strange tho isn't it, 70 per cent possesion, and our right back is man of the match .

10 Dec 2017 15:05:32
My post from earlier, so looking forward to the next 3 goals and rooneys red card 😂

10 Dec 2017 11:20:27
I think Everton will defend for their lives and play dirty, it will keep us out for about 40 mins, then we will score, Everton will completely lose the plot, get a player sent off and we will win 4-0.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

10 Dec 2017 15:52:09
Oooops.

10 Dec 2017 15:58:42
Lovren - thick as two short planks.

10 Dec 2017 17:11:09
Personally can't really have a go at lovren. It wasn't a penalty. If we had taken our chances it wouldn't have been a problem. The player selection was more baffling to me.

10 Dec 2017 17:28:40
Lovren does nothing wrong. It's a poor decision from ref. The occasion has got to him n hopefully he'll be punished for it. Lovren makes no pushing movement with his hands, the forward moves into lovren. Williams does it every time but the ref chooses not to give that. only he can explain that. 2nc half we were not urgent enough for me. But I'm sure that decision will even itself up next time we are 3 nil up! Everton were shocking. But 3 points on weds will make it seem like a distant memory.

10 Dec 2017 17:29:55
Why not
There was no need to lay hands on his back
The player was running away from the goal
How many points is Lovren going to cost us before we buy reinforcements in January.

10 Dec 2017 17:34:43
Definitely wasn't a pen. It was similar to last week at Brighton.

10 Dec 2017 17:58:17
Pen or not he shouldn’t have found himself in such a good position with what was Everton’s only forward pass of the game.

10 Dec 2017 19:12:59
Of course it was, but I don't blame lovren I blame the man who didn't replace him in the summer and plays him every week, the same man who gifted them an early Christmas present with his side and substitutions.

10 Dec 2017 20:36:22
Waro, can we talk about the Elephant in the room .

10 Dec 2017 20:37:00
No it was not, Waro. Watch it again. Lewin threw himself at Lovs, drew the contact and flopped to the ground, plain and simple. What was Locvs supposed to do? Disappear like a ghost? Nonsense. Lovren did nothing wrong. Your ire should be focused on Mane who IMO, lost us the game cos had he squared his chance to Salah or Ox, it is 2-0 and job done.

I find it interesting that you are now here spouting crap about Klopp not replacing Lovs whereas in the past 6 games where we have scored 20 plus goals and won 5 out of last 7 games (2 draws) in the PL (with Lovs in the team, btw), you were absent. As Shankly said, "If you can't support us when we lose (or draw), don't support us when we win".

10 Dec 2017 13:28:01
Fat Sam going to Fat Sam, I guess.

I'm really only worried about set pieces. We have an obvious weak link (Migs) and I fully expect Allardyce to put players in his way on corners and then aim the corner right in onto the six yard box.

10 Dec 2017 13:43:04
Milner in centre midfield is a poor choice.

10 Dec 2017 14:02:37
Would rather grujic started in midfield than milner to be honest.

10 Dec 2017 14:16:45
Maybe not then haha.

10 Dec 2017 14:34:16
Ed01, what have you heard from your sources about how Grujic is getting on in training and U-23 matches? Will he be fighting for a starting position next season?

{Ed001's Note - well they think he lacks a bit of awareness and positional sense, hence the move to playing him deeper, to allow him to see more of the play and get an idea of what is happening. It really depends on how he gets on this season and how quickly he develops.}

I have only seen 3 or 4 games that he has played in this season, but he looks absolute tripe. Not worth 7 million let alone 70. Are you having a laugh? World has gone bonkers. It's like the Emperors clothes - no one seems to want to say how cr*p he is.

10 Dec 2017 13:53:07
Spot on, Firmane. Klopp may want VVD BUT IMO, he is simply not the answer. He is lazy, lacks any positional awareness, always out of position and goes walk about in games and when caught up field he like Matip, make next to no effort to track back. Overrated player.

Talking about DM's or the type that Klopp wants (one who is dynamic and can break up play, win possession and launch attacks), I saw Obiang vs Chelsea and he was very good for them. He has decent passing range, physical in the tackle and can get forward when the oppo. presents itself. I know Klopp looked at him last season as well, cos you said so hence, the reason I focused on him during the game. Do you think he has the abilities that Klopp is looking for and if the interest is still there? Cheers, man.

{Ed001's Note - personally I like him and said so last season that I think we missed out. The interest has yet to show any signs of being revived but I would see it as the club believing he is potentially a little too similar to Keita, though I would disagree on that.}

Thanks, Ed. Like you, I do not see any similarities btw Obiang and Keita myself but go figure. I am with you on Obiang cos he is very talented and never seems to be out of position. We'll see if Klopp goes back in for him again.
