Just wondering why are we not using sinclair. Klopp seems to give some of the young ones a good chance to be around the first team but he's one that hasn't. Also what about teixeira? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

10 Dec 2015 22:32:27
Maybe Klopp's not overly impressed with his skill or attitude. I want him to get his chance but I have complete faith, maybe Sinclair still wants to leave?

10 Dec 2015 22:54:08
because we have benteke, origi and even firmino who can play upfront. then we have lallana, coutinho, firmino, milner who are fighting for the same spot. where as we only have moreno and clyne as full back.

tex and sinclair may get his chances in the 2nd half of the season.

10 Dec 2015 22:56:56
Origi has played two of the last maybe 8 or so, he deserves a chance too. Benteke was on the bench in case we needed a goal.

11 Dec 2015 08:00:26
Ok cheers lads my post wasnt saying they should be playing but maybe involved. Teixeira played really well against bournemouth then seems to of fizzled out. Sinclair i think would fit into how we play, A mini sturridge. But could well be his attitude.

10 Dec 2015 20:02:47
Good to see smith play well, early crosses, bending, not floated, and beating the first man bar one which was blocked at close range. Don't think he took more than 3 touches before a cross, which is great, hit accurate crosses at pace, didn't need to slow down even in the conditions. Just makes it so much easier to attack the ball putting it in the corridor without cutting it back or standing the defender up.

Believable15 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2015 21:20:58
Best player for us tonight. I'd like to see him whip a corner in myself.

10 Dec 2015 22:57:34
We need to do in swingers only the out swingers really annoy me.

{Ed007's Note - Sounds like something Ed003 could help you out with, he's president of his local swingers club.}

10 Dec 2015 23:06:39
Maybe that corner could even clear the first man?

10 Dec 2015 21:58:57
Smith had a great game and hopefully it gives Klopp food for thought. The lad has bags of pace, great left peg and worked really hard, well done.

11 Dec 2015 05:40:22
Great start for the lad - two wicked crosses into the box and good to see Origi making the runs and almost getting onto the end of them. Long way to go yet and remains to be seen how he squares up against the top wingers in the PL but well done.

10 Dec 2015 19:51:55
We didn't risk much but topped the group which is good. We didn't Look like conceding and that's all we had to do. Origi probably would have scored if it wasn't so frozen haha! Also firmino's denied his first 90 minutes for us, how cruel lol!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

11 Dec 2015 05:41:28
Would have been cruel if that had been his first 90 mins game for us! Still have high hopes for Firmino but his first touch looked awful. Hopefully he comes back strong sooner rather than later.

11 Dec 2015 07:07:20
Well it's not the issue with Firmino. The players behind him were dire. He did play on either side of a front three back in Germany.

You need to pick him up and his runs not the other way around. If you expect him to drop deep, collect it from our CM and then drive forward dribbling all the 11 players, it's an impossible tsk for any player.

We were so poor yesterday, Lallana played like a CM latest on.

Hate to admit, but Apart from Lucas none could play a forward pass.

11 Dec 2015 11:15:38
Lucas wasn't playing Harry!

11 Dec 2015 13:29:16
is this what you would call ''caught red handed''

11 Dec 2015 13:46:01
Lols. Where did I say, Lucas played last night. Based on the campaign so far he is by far the best in the lot who has impressed me with their passing abilities.

11 Dec 2015 14:53:31
I thought Joe Allen had passing range?

10 Dec 2015 19:20:53
Milner off again. good job. I'll probably get slated but is anyone else baffled by firminio? Looks bang average in my opinion. Granted it's first season etc but I'm still not sure. 29 million.

Believable15 Unbelievable2

10 Dec 2015 19:55:45
Everyone looked poor today but I think that was more due to the conditions of the pitch. Half
Of it was frozen over. Just glad that games over and we are through.

10 Dec 2015 19:59:48
Bring in a top class CM who could pick his runs and passes. Our midfielders were rotating the ball in the half way line among themselves.

10 Dec 2015 20:20:16
Firmino has been bang average bar 2 games or so. And that is being generous. No benteke to blame for his performance tonight either.

10 Dec 2015 22:58:21
To be fair the two games were Chelsea and city away, if he can keep that up its fine!

11 Dec 2015 00:11:45
He hasn't looked great out wide so far. looks much better in central positions. Was working tonight so didn't get to see the game, so don't even know where he played. He might not look £29m so far but have a feeling he will prove doubters wrong in time, especially under Klopp's management.

10 Dec 2015 18:59:05
Markovic has scored! Great to see.

Believable13 Unbelievable1

10 Dec 2015 21:29:38
I think he's class just wondering if there is a chance we can get him back in jan 👌🏾.

10 Dec 2015 18:15:32
Curious to see how poor our corners / crossing will be again! Hopefully improvement?!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2015 18:55:49
Well that looked like a typical BR team all over.
Passing to defenders and that's it.

Our midfielders ain't got the quality to split a defense or find those pockets. Can't blame Klopp nor his system.

You need quality.

10 Dec 2015 23:35:33
we had already qualified last week.

10 Dec 2015 18:14:39
Smith seems to be playing well so far, really think he could be quality for years to come and has a good end product as well.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2015 19:14:40
Smith doesn't play football for like a year, then plays 15 minutes and you say 'he could be quality for years to come'.

Bit of an over reaction, even by liverpool fan standards.

10 Dec 2015 19:32:07
How is that an overreaction? He hasn't said he's destined for ballon d'or, he's said he could be? My nephew could be world pinball champion am I overreacting?

10 Dec 2015 20:21:11
He could be quality for years to come, puts crosses in dangerous positions, very quick and defends well. And no, I'm not basing this on 15 mins, I've watched him come up through the youth where he has looked quality, it was more to do with how he settles in senior games, yes its early days but didn't look phased against Southampton who are a very good team and looked very good playing on a pitch that was solid and icy and an injury waiting to happen but still didn't play overly cautious. Fair play to the boy and i stand by what i said, could be quality for years to come.

11 Dec 2015 06:36:05
I agree with Taffy, he looked good, crossed well, didn't panic at all, I like him. Firmino on the other hand is worse than average, £29m is a joke, and I will say it now, Markovic would be better for us right now, and I don't see Firmino becoming a £29m player in the next 12 months, he is no better than ok.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but I don't see why on earth people are saying this after a couple of off games in matches that the team have not played in a way that is going to suit him. He has only just got into the team, has a few good games and now people are on his back for a couple of bad ones. Give the lad a chance, the joke is the likes of you talking crap.}

10 Dec 2015 17:42:53
Lovren up for player of the month!? Klopp is a miracle worker! 😁

Credit where its due and long may it continue. Well done Lovren.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2015 18:52:36
We have improved but we are far from a miracle. Still can't cross and very inconsistent. I like Klopp as much as the next Liverpool fan but let's settle down before we give him God status.

{Ed001's Note - Smith put in an excellent cross early on again.}

10 Dec 2015 19:01:47
one cross Ed. Smith has played well. But it's one cross. Captain crossed a terrible free kick. Dunno what it is about this squad and crossing.

{Ed001's Note - how many chances has he had to cross? It was one good cross and one blocked cross, that is not bad. I really do not know what you expect when the team have only had about 4 chances in total to cross.}

10 Dec 2015 19:36:04
He's done well enough today, how can you moan at him! He's beat men, beat the first man with a cross and found an attacker. He's done fine.

10 Dec 2015 19:54:35
I'm not moaning at him. I'm just pointing out its one freaking cross. All that aside, job done, we are through winners of the group, and conditions were awful for football tonight. Europa league has to be taken seriously; so many English teams in it.

{Ed001's Note - he actually put in two good crosses from three opportunities.}

10 Dec 2015 21:29:02
reminds me of aurelio who had a great left foot. great cover for moreno.

10 Dec 2015 23:43:50
I've not had a chance to watch tonight i will hopefully catch up, I'm not so fussed about smith going forward, did his positioning improve tonight, he looked lost at the dell at points and was almost asking permision from lovern to go forward, and kept coming inside too much defensibely, did this improve? All i need to know. glad ed001 said he put in another great cross, seems competent going forward.

11 Dec 2015 02:02:31
He must have been about 6 when he played at the dell Bob ;) honestly wouldn't bother watching it, even live it wasn't exactly thrilling, we weren't tested enough for him to be truly judged, made a few covering runs, nothing concerning or brilliant though, but through no fault of his own.

11 Dec 2015 09:11:33
^ oh yeah forgot the ground move fencey haha. thanks for the correction.

{Ed001's Note - showing your age mate.}

10 Dec 2015 17:34:03
Seems Klopp is taking the competition seriously, glad to see it, although it would have been nice to see a few more of the kids, can't have it all I guess.
Feel like it's almost written that we'll draw Dortmund, that'll be interesting.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

10 Dec 2015 17:04:28
Bit disappointed with the team I'd have liked rossiter to start it's nice to see smith start and hendo back but would've liked more youth finishing 1st or 2nd should make no difference to us.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

10 Dec 2015 17:08:34
It does make a difference.

10 Dec 2015 17:16:23
If were seeded we have the away tie first in the knockout stages.

10 Dec 2015 17:03:59
Well done to smith for earning a strait and good luck to him and origi! Also hendo back! May lack pace on the wings, wonder if it'll be lallana out wide or firmino or even a diamond in midfield?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2015 16:16:05
Ed, what is your opinion on maybe bringing in 1or2 players in January. The reason I am asking is because if we beat Stoke in the carling cup, then February becomes a very hectic month with the normal league matches plus home and away games in EL on the 18th and 25th and the cup final on the 28th. Do you think we have enough strength in depth to compete on all fronts.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - we have too many players, not too few.}

10 Dec 2015 17:08:59
We have too few for European competition although we have too many of an average quality or that play the same position.

{Ed001's Note - we have a squad too big to include all the players in it, so we obviously have too many and need to cut it back.}

10 Dec 2015 16:53:45
I don't see the club buying players in January. We need to trim the squad to make ways for any arrivals.

10 Dec 2015 16:56:34
Our squad is brutally unbalanced.
3 ACM, 4 Strikers, 1 winger and 1 DM.
Any injury to Lucas and we go back to square 1.

10 Dec 2015 14:32:19
Just an observational note really. Watching Origi in interviews, he comes across really well, confident yet never arrogant or cocky, always talking about the team and aware has a long way to before reaching the top. Seems a really down to earth lad.

10 Dec 2015 12:28:57
Hi Eds and fellow REDS!

I would really like to see J. Teixeira have a extended run in the first team.

I really think he got what it takes! what's everyone else's opinion on him?

Cheers.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

10 Dec 2015 12:44:55
It doesn really matter what everyone else think becase the one that counts, Mister Klopp is appearantly not impressed.

10 Dec 2015 13:39:52
Who said Klopp isn't impressed?

I like JCT he'll get a chance when all the unwanted fringe players have been moved on.

10 Dec 2015 13:57:05
TBH our best performances have been from 3 Attacking midfielders up top. Klopp may decide to return to this rather than use the immobile and Disinterested Benteke. I don't think Origi is read to lead the line just yet, so would like to see Klopp revert to to a font 3 of Lallana Fimino and Coutinho, but with Coutinho's recent injury, this may open up space for Tex.

That is my preference of a front 3 at the moment and there's no reason Tex can't slot in there.

10 Dec 2015 13:38:19
Teixeira plays in an area where Klopp has Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino ahead of him which makes it very difficult for him to get chances as Klopp will want to see what those 3 senior international players have to offer.

The only fit RB is Clyne that's why Randall has got his chances, same goes for Moreno that's why Smith is begining to get his chances. Teixeira is a good player but will have to wait his chance, he will get registered in the europa league squad soon and get more chances then.

10 Dec 2015 14:58:27
Young players need to be groomed and given chances here and there before before being given extended runs. Builds there confidence, otherwise some "supporters" and the media "experts" will turn on them.
Ibe is a prime example, started the season little off and everybody was giving him stick and his confidence was gone. Thanks god that Klopp came when he did and now Ibe is a very reliable starter.
So let Klopp do his thing!

10 Dec 2015 15:23:03
I understand people giving out about rodgers not playing tex, but I trust Klopps judgement on whether he's good enough or not.

10 Dec 2015 15:58:39
Omalley, then by that logic, if klopp doesn't think he is good enough that would justify Rodgers not playing him or registering him for the EL.

10 Dec 2015 18:54:21
but he could play him in the league or carling cup so.

10 Dec 2015 03:56:07
Hi Eds, hope your well, just wondered if we have interest in Papy mison Djilobodji I'm aware he recently moved to Chelsea, but I believe Klopp was keen on him when he (klopp) was at Dortmund. Also we showing interest in Fegouhli
Thanks seasons greetings.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He moved to Chelsea as cover but wants to be playing. I am not aware of Liverpool interest in either.}

10 Dec 2015 14:56:29
Wat a shame because we can really do with some muscle and steel in CM. We look so lightweight vs NC.

10 Dec 2015 15:23:54
Thought he was a CB?

10 Dec 2015 09:07:06
eds can we have your views on sturridge please.

Would you sell him with his coutless injuries

or would you stick by him?

or even buy another striker and let him recover fully.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - keep him and let him recover properly, like we did Lucas, and like we are currently doing with Flanno, who will have the same issues when he comes back too.}

10 Dec 2015 13:48:12
Can't fault Yer there ed, my view entirely, just seem to be seeing loads of our fans who think there the chairman, constantly mentioning players wages and wanting players sold beacuse there injured, we should be supporting anyone all our players and even more so if there having injury problems, sturidge needs support he's absolute quality, yes he's had his fair share of injuries and had big spells out the team, but no one can fault his effort when he plays, just seems we try and kick our players when there down and start bringin up wages etc, instead of supporting them.

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't help that pundits keep getting on the lad's back.}

10 Dec 2015 15:59:40
I wasnt jumping on Sturridges back. I just wanted your input on the matter Ed i think he is a cracking player when he is fit i just wish there was a way of keeping him fit.

{Ed001's Note - I said pundits mate, not you.}

10 Dec 2015 16:53:10
No i know Ed its all good.

{Ed001's Note - if the likes of Gerrard and Carragher had kept their mouths shut, instead of spouting crap about him in order to get paid, then people would be a lot more willing to give him time to get fit.}

10 Dec 2015 08:46:53
We are being linked with wingers when we have 2 on loan that are potentially world class already in Ojo and Markovic. Given our financial situation (Without any real clue I am sure Klopp being appointed wasn't a freebie) why spend more.
I think our most important signing since Saurez will be Klopp. He can be the catalyst for a higher percentage of our young players with potential making it. They won't all do but at least it won't be for lack of trying or poor management.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2015 08:54:14
think might be far too early to use the term the term world class.

luis suarez is world class. how many are as good or better? not many.

10 Dec 2015 09:07:52
I used the word 'potential' world class as I realise it's used a lot. Also specific to one player based on Ed002 comments regarding Ojo recently being one of the brightest prospects by someone who knows far more than him (assume no sarcasm on Eds behalf) I forget who the only other player was in that same 'potential' bracket.

Swap the words world class to great players if it helps :-)

10 Dec 2015 11:32:53
Ojo, while promising, is nowhere near ready to be starting and probably even featuring in the Prem on a regular basis.
He doesn't start regularly now with the team he's at.

10 Dec 2015 11:39:08
i know you used the word potential, but you said 'potentially world class already'.

but i do agree with you, Markovic should be given a chance, but not sure about Ojo, i haven't seen much of him, although i wouldn't disagree to it too.

With the squad we have now, we have the opportunity to give them bit part roles, rather than thrown in the deep end like we did with Sterling, which would also help them.

10 Dec 2015 12:17:12
Most world class players break into first teams at a young age, if Ojo is good enough, I don't see a problem in playing some game for us next season. Look at flanno, he played better for the first team than the youth teams. He wil make mistakes but it may push him on.

10 Dec 2015 13:00:09
Kaizer stop it. You know that's not what he meant. He said "already" as in they're at the club already. Not world class already. You all know that, you're just trolling and it's crap like that which drives people away from sites like this. People can't be asked with constant petty nitpicking.

Grow up.

10 Dec 2015 13:59:21
* squadooosh * EMS whip of justice!

Agree though. It's clear what was emant.

10 Dec 2015 13:08:16
I don't see a come back in case of Markovic nor immediate future for Ojo in the first team. It looks like the club would be buying a Winger in Summer.

10 Dec 2015 13:43:16
Sheyi Ojo is potentially world class, he is a sensational youngster and a couple of years back Ojo was among 4-5 players mentioned to become the very best in the world one day. Now is up to us to nurture that potential and develop him well.

He is doing alright at Wolves and for his first taste of pro football at a league as difficult as the championship he is showing he can adapt quickly from youth football to pro football. Sergi Canos is doing very well at Brentford as well.

10 Dec 2015 15:05:59
Totally agree. kaiser seems to always pick people up on lame points. To much time on his hands!

10 Dec 2015 15:32:07
There's no harm in being linked to players, think of it in boy scout terms, always be prepared. Come the summer the club will decide what players are needed and if the quality required is in the youth team, if it's not they'll buy one of the previously scouted players. No decisions are being made today though.

10 Dec 2015 18:04:31
Thanks EMS and Bob couldn't have put it better :-)

10 Dec 2015 08:40:30
First of two posts. Assuming we can get a suitable offer for him and at this moment in time, do we sell Sturridge? Agree for sell or disagree for keep. Feel free to reply but really interested in the overall feeling.

Believable2 Unbelievable22

10 Dec 2015 13:09:13
Depends what you consider a suitable offer I guess. I'd never want us to sell Lucas, or Coutinho or Sakho. But if someone offered us the right money and pre-selected replacements were ready and waiting.

10 Dec 2015 15:50:24
He has a contract till October 2019, why would he want to leave, and what team would want him, considering his injuries? We have to persevere and hope he fully recovers.

10 Dec 2015 19:04:30
Two of our bright young things of yesteryear, Rob Jones and Michael Owen suffered many injuries, attributed to too much too young by many at the time, maybe the "experts" at the club know better than we do / what was known then. How long did Whitesides career last.

10 Dec 2015 01:49:14
The match tonight is on freeview live on setanta ireland, sky channel 423. At least we don't have to listen to owens dross!
