Seen the pics of the Home kit - love it. but if I was a keeper then I'd be saying wtf lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha. I know, laughed when Mignolet said on LFC TV that he was glad to get the colour purple. I thought, that's pink!

5 mins later my eldest lad walked in to the room and said "Mignolet's got a pink top!"

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the home top, the away top is at least an improvement. That keepers top is awful though, poor migs. Haha

If you had an option for Ryan babel to return to anfield, would you take him? Always had a moment of magic in him, but far too rare when he played and always seemed to smash his shots near post. However, I think out of any players than have left for not being up to it, he would be the one I'd give a second chance to!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Always remember watching him and roysten drenthe being awesome for the dutch youth teams. funny how football turns out for some players

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah no chance, I'd rather give an ex-player who worked hard and simply didn't have enough talent to succeed a chance. Babel had more than enough talent but failed to ever put it to use - a lazy player with a poor onfield attitude in my opinion, i'd never take him back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't mind having him in the locker for Chelsea games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Over rated lazy terrible

Haha, always looking to the past! C'mon, why not enjoy the present and look to the future for once?

Yes, but only if the padlock was very secure.

Ide prefer Dirk Kuyt if we are going for dutch oldies, at least he popped a goal or 2 away and ran for the full 90.

Its Thursday and I'm nervous. Every game is now the biggest of the season, but this one against city is the closest rivals. Win this and its out of city's hands! Can see a few goals going in for them, I reckon 2, depends on how many we score! Kompany is a force to be reckoned with for anyone!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kompany may be but demichellis plays he definitely isn't.
Over the last few seasons I think we have always looked the better team.
I fancy 3-1 win we were robbed at the etihad over Xmas.
On to transfers are only stumbling block is wages, but looking at the team's in the CL the other night, we would have troubled any of them.
So hopefully players wwill want to be part of something big!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's going to be tight; in all honestly maybe won but who makes the least mistakes.

Silva is a wizard and Toure is going to be difficult to stop; however we can give them our own set of problems; I really fancy Sterling to play well in this game and be the deciding factor; either one on one or running from a deeper forward position (especially the decision given against him earlier in the season).

I think we have to take the same attitude to each game (win lose or draw); if we don't win we need to ensure we win our remaining games to put the pressure on.

If we win the game doesn't men we've won the league - we really need to remember that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree hoola, they have some stars, and some weak spots, as do we!

Agree0 Disagree0

If I remeber correctly Sturridge was out injured when we played them last. I definitely feel like he can be the difference. If Demichles starts then both he and sterling will cause him loads of problems. I see us getting the result on Sunday. That being said I'll definitely be wearing out my floor pacing throughout the game

Hi eds, I hear that Manchester United are holding talks with Toni Kroos, do you think it's likely he will join them in the summer when they don't have champions league football? Can't see them attracting top players. Would he be a player Liverpool would consider?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They are not holding talks with the player, but about the player. It is nothing to do with Liverpool.}

10 Apr 2014 18:39:44
The new Kits are good. Love all 3.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dunno about the bright yellow one like - know we've used it a good few times in the past but my retinas are burnt after seeing it. Wonder when we'll give that white and green quarter split shirt a go again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh I know what you mean,, That black and red one with the collar looks awesome though.
We've seen Red white black BLUE now yellow kits from warrior so I'm guessing the old Green and White BadBoy is next season if were champions .

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the home kit its clean, though it looks like someone designed it on PES with all those white lines.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only seen the home kit (unless the leaked ones are the real ones); they look good - i'd look v good in one if I hadn't meet that awful thing called Stella lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha that's a boss shout haych, designed on pes, brilliant

Hi Eds,

Quick question re Thiago Ilori. When we signed him I was given to believe him to be a very promising talent, quick, good feet, prem standard with a bit of help.
Now he has moved (on loan) to Granada so soon after joining do you see a way back for him to LFC given he's only 20/21?
And if not how is it possible for Brendan and his coaches to make their mind up about a player they invested in so quickly?
Cheers, and keep up the good work

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Right now the important thing is that he gets some game time. Liverpool has so many centre backs on the books that they need to clear some out in the summer and let others know where they stand - not doubt some can go out on loan.}

Any chance that the Chelsea game at anfield will change to Saturday cause of there involvement in cl?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Doubt it because it's either side, so it's only gunna move it closer to the other game

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but if the second leg falls on a Tuesday then they'll want to switch

Agree0 Disagree0

I also remember when it was first changed to the Sunday for TV it said subject to Chelsea being involved in the CL. So it could well be moved to the Saturday.

I was on the train bored so I read the metro paper there was a story with duego forlan saying he's in contact with luis and he asjed if he should stay or go and forlan suggested luis should consider manchester united I checjed the date to see if I was reading the 1st april edition but no it was todays metro made me chuckle reading that lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed030's Note - I think he meant he advised him to join Utd before he joined Liverpool but I could be wrong.

Ed030 there's a story saying he advised him before he joined us but the metro are saying this was recent like last week more likely somebody at the metro didbt read the story right or just trying to stir up sime rubbish I seen the story about his advice before he jouned but no idea where the metro got that from

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed030's Note - He would have been rather stupid to advise him to join Utd, The transfer would not happen for a million and one reasons even if Suarez wanted to join. }

Forlan said something like Suarez asked him whether he should stay at Liverpool and he said the he(Forlan) told him the best the for his career would be to join Man Utd. Which was very puzzling to me when I read it.

My hypothesis: Forlan secretly wants Suarez to fail at club level due to Suarez taking the crown from him at International level.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No - this matter arose when he was at Ajax.}

Forlans quotes are in 442 magazine where he is a columnist. Suarez asked him about Liverpool whilst at Ajax and was told to join mufc instead. Forlan does speak well about LFC in the article. I hope this clears matters up

Ed02 say for example Liverpool was in the Europa league next year and we won it and came say 4th would that mean 5th gets a champions league spot? If not who gets the extra spot?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nobody would get an extra place in that scenario.}

Please give me your thoughts on this everyone + Eds.

We will be playing Champions League football next year and we will be among the best. We will need good players to come in during the next window to provide quality and depth.

BR is currently getting the best out of our current squad who have a genuine desire to play for Liverpool.

How many players will it take to upset our squad in terms of morale and that genuine desire? Ill explain. Tottenham for example. They had 9 players transfer in which upset the squad which was a factor in their demise. Would 4 transfers be too much?. or would it be better if we get 2 or 3 quality players?

So, the real question is. If we have a little bit of money to spend on quality, how many NEW players would be JUST RIGHT without upsetting our current squad?

And whatever number comes to mind.What positions do you think we should rein-force.

I'm going with 2 - LB and RB. That would be enough for me. 2 quality wing backs to push us forward into the Champions League.

You?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

2-3 I think. Bring back suso and borini and that makes it 4-5. I would buy a left back and a left sided forward, and maybe an attack minded midfielder. Players will also leave and will need to be mostly replaced. I don't think we need to buy too many players at all. Our first team is already the best in the league (arguably) we just need an option or two from the bench. I would rather we filled other gaps in the squad with youngsters than spending a few million here and there on players that are unlikely to get a game or make an impact. The league should be our main
priority next year, the cups and even the champions league should be second fiddle in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think more than 4 even with outs as we have a lot of loan players coming back too and the likes of wisdom and suso should be in the squad.
But four quality players including a lb, a winger and a back up striker

Wenger made a very good point regarding this beginning of the season that a lot of players going in disrupts the balance of the squad. He was talking about spurs and look what happened there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd go for 2 first team players ( LB, CM ) if we just want to compete . but if we want to win the league then we should go for a new winger/playmaker
For me, Moreno and Lars Bender would be perfect buys for us . other alternatives would be Juan Bernat and Rakitic

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it would be 2-3, keep suso, borini, and maybe Ibe (if not loan with ilori) don't keep any of the loans. Think a LB (no clue who really!) then priority would be a wide forward, think kono or yarmolenko would be my choice and if possible CM like rakitic but wouldn't mind dany parejo wouldn't be bad or maybe try loan milner or rodwell. Though if a decent bid came in for Borini or we got significantly bigger offers for other players like josep drmic or muriel. not a necessity but do play 2 forwards so having another as back up/competition would be great

Agree0 Disagree0

We had eight incomings last summer and lost two dressing room leaders in Carra & Pepe. It hasn't caused us problems. We had five incomings in Brendans first summer in charge and 2 additional players that winter. It's not unusual if you check back that there is this type of turnover. If Reina, Cissokho, Coates, Moses, Assaidi all leave (don't think anyone disputes this five) and Agger & Aspas are sold we will need FOUR players just to make up the numbers and with Suso, Ilori & Wisdom possibly staying out on loan perhaps TWO more signings for depth. Some of these will be younger players (Hughes?) who won't be expected to go straight into first XI.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Bale leaving was the biggest blow both on the pitch and psychologically - when he played they always looked like they could get the goal they needed, without the mentality is different. An obvious point but had Suarez moved last summer I doubt we, regardless of who we bought in from the money, would be where we are now.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me 4 positions need filling (the 4th may be linked to Aspas though).

LB
CM
LF
CF

I think we need someone to press Suarez and Sturridge / cover for them if suspended or needing a rest.

I'm not expecting miracles next season in the cups; League and FA we will use squad and youth players and Champions league will be a bonus how far we get (which may be dependant on the draw); need to aim for top 3 again next season.

There is a story on Guardian website on ticket prices for Sundays game
Apparently they're being sold for over £2450 each by some ticket sites- this is disgraceful. I'm also sure it must be illegal so my question is why are they allowed to get away with it by the police and more importantly the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the police or the club.}

Sorry ed u seem to have little know on this one. its everything to do with the police if u get caught buy the poice selling tickets touting its illigal and an arrestable offence and again it has everything to do with the club its there game its there ground even though the club don't make any extra money from touting it leads to multipule problems fraud theft and so on i'd advise against buying tickets from scouts. most fixtures are relesed before we even start playing . and to thoes who pay 2500 a ticket need to look at themselfs and relise that's every game Liverpool played this season with expences would be coverd buy the price of this 2500 ticket . at the end of the day this will be more and more a problem as we have took off and no one can stop us the world wants to see liverpoool fc

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, large numbers of tickets are legally sold through resellers.}

It prevents genuine fans getting hold of tickets, and therefore the club should identify which tickets fall into the hands of these dealers and ban them buying if they've no intention of going to the match.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Some dealers are partners of the club; many available are unused hospitality tickets for sponsors and partners and those given away by the club for marketing purposes. The premium prices reflect that games at Liverpool generally sell out.}

If someone buys a ticket and sells it for a fee does not make that an offence. Plus would you like to pay more taxes for more police to look into it? I know I'd rather my taxes were used to catch criminals that cause mayhem and hurt. No one is forcing anyone to pay them prices, if you do then you should get dealt with by the police for section 136 of the mental health act.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is a difference between scalpers and resellers. And nobody would want to pay taxes for more police to look in to it.}

Call me old fashioned Ed, but selling a £50 ticket for a 5000% mark up is not really on, is it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - If people will pay it why not? The world gets by on scalped tickets.}

Gotta agree with ed. I had ticket for champ league final in 2005. Cost me £21. Couldn't afford flight because it was £700 so sold ticket for £200. Prob could of got more but if people are prepared to pay what's the problem

Agree0 Disagree0

Its capitalism, supply and demand. If people are willing to pay it then there will be others willing to sell it for the price. An argument could be made that it alienates working class supporters but let's face it football has been doing that for a long time - change would have to come from within football and as they are making so much money it is very unlikely to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree with people who think its alright to buy them just to flog on for a fat profit. that's taking one straight out of the hands of a proper fan and giving it to the prawn sandwich brigade.

If you end up stuck with a spare if someone drops out, I think giving it to a mate or mate of mate at face value is the proper fan thing to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Frankly

I would never say that is is morally right but hey neither is capitalism. Its supply and demand, football has been all about the money for a long time and refuses to do anything that doesn't drive up profits. I don't like it but that's modern football - if fans wanna flog tickets for a fat profit who could blame them?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Seano - my mate paid through the nose to get to Athens in 2007; sometimes circumstances mean you can't get there; other times its people making a profit. which is not uncommon in everyday life.

By the same token I've seen people provide tickets to other fans free of charge on here.

You telling me someone knocks on your dor and offers you £500k for your £100k house you will say not mate it's too much?

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what you mean seano.
especially when times are tough.

modern football eh?
I think you're right the change has to come from within football. clubs should set aside a good number of cheap tickets for young local fans on a match by match basis.

still its quite good sign that the prices are so high right. we must be doing something right on the field to start the silly bidding ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep i've seen the free of charge tickets here. now that I take my hat off to! unbelievably generous.

can't really answer the house question, I'm a bit of a crap capitalist I don't own one.

I am eternally grateful that I have a mate who'll get me the odd away ticket at face value though from his season ticket rights. I guess that's all I was saying. glad it doesn't go to a tout.

but yeah I can't knock someone who makes a few quid if they need it. I guess I meant the people who do it day in day out with no intention of ever going

Agree0 Disagree0

@Frankly

'I guess I meant the people who do it day in day out with no intention of ever going'

I completely agree its not right however I think that the existence of those fans is a product of the current football economy and that, as opposed to pointing fingers of blame at individuals, we should look higher up the ladder. Out of all the FA/UEFA/FIFA measures, rules, policies, decisions we've seen how many have been for the benefit of us the fans? Few if any right. If that changes the ticket touting might also change but it seems unlikely - the world cup going to Qatar seems an obvious example of economic concerns overriding any football/fan related ones eh.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The vast majority of the tickets that are sold via the ticketing sites are by (a) dealers who are partners of the club and authorised to sell them; (b) unused hospitality tickets; (c) tickets assigned to sponsors and partners that are unused; (d) tickets given away by the club for marketing purposes.

There will always be scalpers selling on fans tickets but the numbers involved will be far less. The majority of the clubs try to drive scalpers away from the ground - which is why you will see them outside of railway stations, metro stations etc..}

Hi Eds

What do you know about Liverpool's reported transfer budget for the summer as being £60m? Is this a realistic net spend in terms of the club's finances, transfer policy and FFP constraints? Do you see the club spending big money (£25m plus) for the kind of players who will take us on that extra step required for Champions League?

Cheers
P

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry.}

I guess we will spend around 60million pounds on the two windows not in summer only

Agree0 Disagree0

It comes from Purslow saying the club will invest the CL money (25-30m) and people adding this to maximum we might receive from sales (20-30m). I'd imagine net spend will be c25m. Realistically we are looking at 3 x 10-15m signings and some clever frees, loans or youth purchases.

Agree0 Disagree0

We might spend £60 after sales but even then I would be surpised if that was the case. I'd also speculate that anything above 15mil for one player will simply not happen. We have financial issues which are sadly not going to be resolved by our CL qualification. If we can make qualification a regular thing then we might see more profound changes.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can possible see the following leave in the summer:

Coates
Coady
Wisdom (not that I want him to)
Assiadi
Aspas

In all honestly after fee's and taxes we're be lucky to get £15m for those 5 (net).

I can see 3 or 4 players joining at a total cost of £40m - £25m net spend.

If Man city want to pay £20m for skrtel then that's good money IMO.

Suarez I hope stays but might change that spending.

Hey Ed001, any chance of us getting a review of the West Ham game from you? :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I actually made a conscious effort to avoid the game, as we had won the last game when I wasn't watching. I cracked at half time, I just couldn't resist checking the score and found it was 1-1 so thought I was safe to watch! I am going to watch a rerun of the whole match in a bit, as today has been the first chance I have had to sit down and look at it. I will write a proper review as soon as I have finished watching it.}

Ha superstitious are we Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Apr 2014 08:58:52
Never been as superstitious as I have been this season other half thinks I'm mad as I've not worn the home shirt all season! Still hung up in the wardrobe with tags attached didn't want to jinx it after the start we had. Daren't wear it now till the end of the season then will be worn with pride when we've won the PL

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In the meantime, to fulfil his promise of European football next season, the football genius is not to be disturbed because he is busy writing a masterpiece of a song.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Apr 2014 08:27:29
Just some musings from within my mind for us all to think on.
We are the top scorers in the most difficult league in europe. For me, that's says don't mess with your strikers. I would genuinely leave well alone. We simply need a back up and I think Borini is good enough. But our SSS, a more lethal combination than SAS in both football and wartime, should be allowed to dominate.
Also, the style of play in europe is so conservative that I can't help thinking if we go into the games in a similar manner to the league this season then we should waltz our to the latter stages fairly comfortably. The slow methodic style in Champions League will quite simply not know what to do with our fluid attack.
Not saying we will the thing, just saying our style should take us to say the quarters fairly easily.
Come on redmen!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This aggressive attacking football is our style now,, our identity. Rodgers has said many times he will take any blame if a player makes a mistake for being too expressive. I think this is great,, it means players can try things, dare to create and like you say, with our explosive forwards we could rip Europe apart next season. I think we need better CB's though. Everyone knows leaking goals through our poor defenders has been our Achilles heel this season, it'd be great if we went all out and signed a world class CB, then I'd say our first 11 can match any team in world football (United neerly made the semis and they're tosh) it's possible

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with you on Borini I really like him, I no why you mean about Europe I just hope Rodgers isn't to naive that we get punished!

Agree0 Disagree0

What about sakho dbol?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Apr 2014 09:44:28
I think perhaps we could do with another forward on top of Borini, however if Rodgers lands the LW we know he's after, that along with Borini could add all the depth we need up front.

But then I'd go all out and probably overpay on Lallana by £20 million this summer, so probably a good thing I'm not in charge of the transfers!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Andy,

As much as I would like to agree with you on borini, I think we need to get someone else as a back up strikers, he's scored some good goals this season but hasn't turned up in a lot of other games. I think his goal tally in all competitions is 6 which tells u something.

Secondly I would not expect us to stroll through the cl. Cl is different, we'll have less time to prepare against teams which we don't know much about, but let's see what happens.

Vital to win on Sunday! let's go reds

Agree0 Disagree0

He's playing in a dire Sunderland team who are bottom of the table.6 isn't a great return but I would imagine if he played games for us he'd get a lot more chances to score goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Most of the games he's played has been on the wing. 6 goals for a winger, who's only played a handful of games up front in a (most likely) relegated team that hugely lack creativity isn't too bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Difficult one - Borini's scored some pens - but you look at the Leaguse cup final goal and he was class.

My opinion - I think he needs to play to score and he might not get that with us (as in a run of games). So not convinced it will work out (but like the player).

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Apr 2014 08:19:49
Who thinks we should start both Sterling and Coutinho? I'm pondering whether an option from the bench is best, I think Sterling behind SAS and a midfield three of hendo Allen and Gerrard, I can honestly see dimechelles(spelling) getting sent off up against the front three!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sterling for me; maybe Suarez dropping deep inbetween their def and midfield and playing the direct/long ball occasionally to get Sterling in with his paace then Sturridge and Suarez attacking the spaces.

The football genius has promised the owners and the players that next season Manchester United will mount a PROPER challenge for. a Europa league spot.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Apr 2014 07:21:40
So my fellow Reds, I'm in the dilemma of a lifetime

I live in Dubai and have started a new job 2 months ago. The last time I visited Anfield was the Chelsea game last season when Suarez had the Ivanovic incident.

A friend of mine (who works very closely with Mubadala - Man Cityowners) has invited me to tag along and attend the game in Anfield on Sunday in the VIP box

During my last visit, I felt I watched Saurez's last game in a Liverpool shirt and was kicking myself since I thought I brought bad luck to the team.

So the questions is: Do I take him up on his offer or use the excuse that I've just started new job so that I don't jinx the team?

This decision is proving to be harder than proposing to my wife!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whatever you've been doing for the past 9 games, DO THAT! This goes for any Red,, change nothing!

Agree0 Disagree0

Stay where you are and watch on TV. I am a real supporter who attends regularly but couldn't get my membership card activated for the last 3 home games due to new demand. :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

Every game I've been to - most recent vs Norwich, we win (and in the 70's I went with my Dad to see Liverpool beat Man City 3 - 1 on a Boxing Day) - so I think it would be a good idea to suggest I go in your place.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless Ken is willing to lend me his lucky pants then I'll probably pass up the offer.

alonzo14 - I hope you're not taking a swipe with your "real fan" comment as I spend probably more money than you do when it comes to my cable subscription, purchases from the online store and the cost of a trip to the UK when I attend Liverpool games

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't be daft. Go to the game and witness history in the making.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh just ask the prospective wife for permission and if she will let you - go!

Agree0 Disagree0

I went to the villa match done the tour the day after the game got a coin for a pound well my gf got it for me and I mean it worked I've never been superstious before but I am now I won the grand national and a lot at Cheltenham with it in my pocket so I say invest in you you'll be fine

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Every time I have ridden my unicorn to the game, Liverpool has won.}

I have an update:

Last night the washing machine showed signs of life. It's very sporadic but I managed to get the lucky pants washed. They are currently drying on the washing line.
So hft1983, I'd say you are SAFE to go to the match. The power of the lucky pants will outweigh any previous jinx you might be concerned about.

Have a good match mate

Come on you reds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ft1983-I pay for cable, LFC tv online membership, adult & child ticket membership scheme and go to every game with my Son that I can get our membership's activated for.
Sorry if I sound bitter, but its more a dig at the club and its lousy ticket sales system which changed its priority system for class A games.
As long as the Reds win I'll be Happy this Sunday!:-)

If anyone listens to Edo2, then we are not going to sign any decent players around Europe this summer. Plus we are so far behind the likes of Chelsea and man city in the ffp if it will actually happen.
My opinion is that not being able to sign the so called top players in Europe for the top fees, is it affecting us really?
If we continue like we have over the last 2 years we will be the proof it doesn't take billions to be successful.

I hear Sakho sleeps with the light on. Not because he's scared of the dark, but because the dark is scared of him.
I hope he starts again on Sunday with Skrtel. I think we need their aggression against City. Anyone know if Aguero is fit enough?

Apparently they've banned naming streets after him. because no one is game enough to cross Sakho.!

Aguero is fit, not sure Pellegrini would start him with Dzeko in good form.

I think it'd be daft to start aguero in such a huge game but I think they will, they'll panic I'm sure of it.
