Klopp's biggest problem has been Guardiola and the players he has at City. But I reckon Guardiola would say his biggest problem whilst at City has been Klopp and his Liverpool team.

So true.

Absolutely, Rigsby. Klopp has beaten Pep to win trophies or has won trophies before he did. Also, Klopp has the best head to head vs Pep out of any manager Pep has faced. He made the City/ Liverpool games evenly matched despite all the disadvantages he had. Klopp gets all the credit for that as well as the players.

Klopp and LFC have given Pep and City fits thru out their time in the PL and yeah, Pep won more BUT that is expected cos he is well, given more. But Klopp's trophy record at LFC is what a lot of these rival fans would kill for so in the end, Klopp is his kryptonite. Just my take.

I wonder for how much longer Guardiola will stay at City.

Agree1

{Ed002's Note - Not too much longer.}

16 Apr 2024 16:34:41
Just think, had we not won it in 2020, City would be going for seven in a row! Klopp deserves huge credit for that. And had it not been for Guardiola and the money at City we could be going for our fourth title under Klopp. We might have had two more CL trophies were it not for Real Madrid, too.
I just can't help but look at what Klopp has achieved for us and what we are up against rather than what he didn't achieve.
One of the reasons we are all so disappointed is because of the expectations we now have under Klopp.

What advantages does city have may I know? About to win a treble with Rodri, Kovacic and Mateus Nunes lol. They have a flop GK, A flop Grealish, An injury prone KDB, an overrated Foden and An overrated walker (accordint to this page) .
Pep would win atleast 3 PL titles with a prime Fabinho, Salah, Mane, Bobby, VVD, Alli, Robbo and Trent.
More importantly Guardiola wouldn't let his assistant to run a football club. he ofeten gets criticized for over complicating while royally ignoring how Klopp is obsessed with playing the iverted nonsense.

18 Apr 2024 00:34:14
Beekeeper you are missing the point.

Guardiola would never have had Salah, Mane, Bobby, Firmino, Robbo or Trent. They were all bought on a budget or from the academy and turned into great players. He wouldā€™ve signed proven world class players for much more money because he had it to spend.

He might have signed Ali and VVD but he wouldnā€™t have had to sell one of his best players in order to do it.

Itā€™s absolutely undeniable that any City manager has had a huge financial, competitive advantage since the sheik took over. Before Pep, City won the league with Mancini and Pellegrini. Before Klopp Liverpool had one decent season in 2013-2014 where we came close but other than that we were generally 4th to 8th place in the league.

Klopp took us from relative obscurity with the odd decent cup run, hoping to get into the top 4 every season to the best team in Europe.

Pep took an already brilliant City team, spent loads of money on it and won more stuff.

Thereā€™s no comparison between the two.

Agree1

18 Apr 2024 09:12:46
You don't know about City's funds then, Beekeeper?
How did they end up with Rodri, Kovacic, Nunes, Ederson, Grealish and Walker? I notice that you conveniently left out Bernardo Silva and Harland. Two of their most influential players this season.
If you think Guardiola would win at least three PL titles at Liverpool then I could agree with you because that would mean he wouldn't be City boss and that was one of my points.
The other point being the money that he has had to spend which you also proved by naming just some of his big money signings.
I stand by my assumption that Liverpool could easily have won two more PL titles had City not had Guardiola and had he not had the money he has spent.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a funny feeling that the Europa tie with Atalanta isn't over.

There's just something in the back of my mind that keeps telling me we can still get through, far fetched as that might seem.

I guess it's because there has to be some semblance of hope, otherwise no point in turning up.

We could be like a firework that didn't go off, and when you approach it, it explodes. Here's hoping we explode and don't implode.

I know he suffered concussion after forest game so he would've been ruled out for a while after that. but I would've thought in games of late he would've been worth a shot, in bits I've seen of him he looks what we need, cool and composed in front of goal.

I remember getting up on the day of the Barcelona game and having a discussion with my wife about whether I was going to go to Anfield or not that day. Itā€™s an 8 hour round trip for me and we were 3-0 down after the first leg against arguably the best team in Europe at the time.

ā€˜Weā€™ve got no chance of winning, Iā€™m too busy at work, itā€™s a waste of timeā€™ I was saying to her. She just said ā€˜yeah but what if they do it and you didnā€™t go? ā€™

I went and had probably the best football experience of my life and there have been hundreds.

Hi Ed001. Thanks for the review and I must say I agree with your assessment on that match. As soon as Trent came on and went in the middle (inverted) I was worried that would not work. I am amazed we have reverted to the slow way of playing - that didn't really work earlier in the season anyway! It does look like we need a "refresh" which is obviously coming anyway. I think this season really will end with a whimper if we continue to play like this. I would much rather go for it and if that means the odd loss then so be it . this ponderous play is awful and doesn't suit us at all. I actually think if we play "rock and roll" footy then we have a cjance on Thursday (providing the finishing improves) as we definitely have the ability to create chances against them. The last few weeks feels almost like self sabotage!

{Ed001's Note - it is still going to be sad to say goodbye to Klopp.}

16 Apr 2024 13:27:11
Let's be clear, Herr Klopp knows more about football than any of us. His acumen has brought us success and much joy.

Re. the game. I thought the second half performance was good. Ponderous, really?

Perhaps the tactics would been more effective if returning players were not dusting off the rust and had more rhythm. Szob needs to play. Play himself into form!

Please Trent ease yourself into the game before spraying the Hollywood balls.

Agree3

16 Apr 2024 13:48:46
Playing Trent as an inverted fullback when we dominate teams really stifles us. Get him wide and get players in the box for his early delivery.

Ed01 regardless what the ups and downs and all that, I will be forever grateful to this man who could have gone to any other club in a much better position to win trophies BUT came to us at our absolute worst. He built us up from the ground up and despite all the head winds and initial trophy losses, he stayed the course and taught me how to stay the course as well despite all the obstacles and disappointments.

From there, he built my club from the depths of midtable mediocrity, into the best team in the world and "Champions Of Everywhere". Won a bag of trophies that few expected him to win when he was struggling at first. Klopp gave me some of the absolute best memories as an LFC fan that I will take with me to my grave. Not arsed about what other people who are NOT LFC fans think about him.

Don't care what he did not win cos in the end, Klopp gave my club back its dignity and now, I hold my head high knowing that it was all worth it sticking by him, come hell or high water. All Hail Herr Klopp!

Liverpool v Crystal Palace - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

16 Apr 2024 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Liverpool v Crystal Palace - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

16 Apr 2024 08:51:11
Cheers Ed01. Interesting reading, as always. I don't agree that we were more intense when we had "the kids" playing. Im not sure what kids you are referring to in particular. We've been scraping out results for a long time and this falling off a cliff has been on the cards for ages. I'm just amazed that we've stayed in the running for as long as we have.

Agree2

{Ed001's Note - Danns, Clark etc. How can you not agree when it was clear?}

16 Apr 2024 09:44:41
Ed001, I also think we've lacked intensity since more of the senior players returned. I thought Bradley, Quansah and Elliott were really driving us forward at times. Konate, Gomez, Szoboszlai and Salah are making us so weak down the right side of the pitch as they're just not at it. We do miss Clark, Danns and McConnell to a lesser extent (due to less game time) but I agree they were also really on it in the cup competitions.

We need to give those 6 young lads more game time again. Along with Jones to be fair, who looks fired up after returning from injury. Konate, Gomez, Szobo and Salah probably need to be dropped now in my opinion. It's probably not a lack of effort, but more form and fitness.

Agree5

{Ed001's Note - I hate to say it but Salah really hasn't looked right all season. It is hard to see how he can keep his place.}

16 Apr 2024 09:54:05
Great review Ed001. I love Klopp and he basically got us out of the horrible downward trajectory we were on before he came.

However he's looking more burnt out these days and the reliance on Pep Ls tactics has been his biggest issue in recent times. I'm sceptical we will be as good without him but perhaps it is time for a refresh and maybe Amorims tactics can get the best out of Nunez?

I have to admit I'm very gutted we aren't getting Xabi Alonso for next season but I think he's doing the right thing for his own career and has a long time left as manager.

Agree1

{Ed001's Note - it does look like it is time for a refresh, much as I hate the thought of Klopp leaving. He deserves to walk away on his own terms.}

16 Apr 2024 10:20:32
Great review as usual Ed1. Its concerning that both players and Klopp himself look mentally and physically exhausted. And at the worst possible moment in the season. I do agree that the return of injured players suddenly making us a worse team than when most of our players are out injured. Its baffling really. I got really mad when Trent come in and go straight to the middle when out wide is where we needed him. Its like early season when he keep drifting inside and we struggling to beat teams.

Agree1

{Ed001's Note - it is what Trent has been trained and instructed to do, but it makes little sense to me when the way to beat compact defences is to use the width and draw them out or hit the byline and cross from there where they are as likely to knock the ball into the goal as an attacker.}

16 Apr 2024 10:45:23
How many games did Danns and Clark start together? I was at the Southampton game and the scoreline flattered us.

Agree4

16 Apr 2024 11:01:09
Great read, Ed. You said it all, man. For a moment during the season there (and maybe due to the enthusiasm and energy of the kids) we were pressing teams high, causing mistakes and creating chances and scoring goals (even tho, the finishing needed more work) and all was going well. Not sure while we reverted to the slow-poke type possession footie that did not work and has never worked YET we kept doing it.

Also, I and many on here have been sick of this ability of our team to spot the oppo. a goal in the first 10 mins near all season. It seemed like EVERYONE could see this as a problem long term yet the staff either could not address it or could not be arsed. Well, the issue with that is that even tho, we were rescuing games, there is only so much water in that well cos when it dries up, this is what you get.

As for Klopp, he will leave us an absolute legend and transformational manage, I have no doubt. I hate to see it end this way however, in the last 18 months or so, he is responsible for what has happened here and has to take the L for now. Will he and the players turn things around? We are about to find that out, ASAP.

Agree2

16 Apr 2024 11:24:26
Ed01 who would you play on the right wing for the remainder of the season? Elliott, Szobo, Diaz?

Salah has been completely ineffective since he returned from Afcon, as have others returning from injury. Really hope Jurgen switches things up from the tried and tested (line up-wise and tactic-wise) . Won't hold my breath though.

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - Szobo or Elliott would go in for now anyway, that wouldn't mean they would stay there all season, just to take Salah out. He may just need that jolt to get him going again.}}

16 Apr 2024 11:40:43
I love Endo for what he brings in certain games Ed so would it not be wise to find someone that can bring all the elements to the holding midfield role.
I mean someone with more technical ability so they can receive the ball in tight spaces.
Endo does the simple things well but when under pressure, lacks the technical ability and awareness to deal with this.

Agree1

{Ed001's Note - like who?}

16 Apr 2024 11:42:14
Ed, you mention a lot about the lack of high press, high intensity. Who would be the best manager to bring those specific qualities back?

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea off the top of my head.}

16 Apr 2024 11:53:26
Good read Ed001. IMO we've had a good look at Diaz now over the past few seasons and it's obvious that the end product isn't there in the numbers we need. He's one player we should move on and replace for 24/ 25.

Agree2

16 Apr 2024 12:15:04
Regrettably I think time has caught up with Salah. I think we need to move him on in the summer along with Diaz and bring in two new quality younger wide players.

Agree0

16 Apr 2024 12:18:29
Klopp and pep get talked about for the tactics but what about Peter Krawietz heā€™s must have a say in it as well. Have all three taken there eye off the ball.

Agree3

16 Apr 2024 12:37:51
At half time I said take Konate off, Endo to centre half and TAA holding.
Salah off and either Szoboszlai or Elliott to replace him. The Bradley injury wouldn't have helped but it was even worse with Sunday's team.
We had Szob and an out of sorts Salah covering the right hand side and it wasn't enough.

I still want to see Szoboszlai further forward because I'm yet to be convinced by him as an out and out midfielder. The comparisons with Gerrard are fanciful, to say the least. I agree with the review about Diaz. He just doesn't do enough for me and the number of times he loses the ball and then commits a foul is infuriating.

Agree2

16 Apr 2024 12:44:15
I wouldn't have a clue Ed. Is there anyone you can think of?
I mean Fabinho was brilliant here.
I notice we are trying to play the ball around teams for an example, like a stretchy elastic band. This is fine but then we need someone to pass and break the lines, someone on the half term who can receive in tight spaces. Players are also far too static in my opinion. I like to see players play a pass and follow it, set and go again. This has happened less and less in recent games.
Its a tough watch at the minute.

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - I would play Trent there personally, when Bradley is fit.}

16 Apr 2024 12:48:12
One more thing I would add is the seemingly lack of urgency.

Correct me if I am wrong, but what I noticed during corners is that Konate and VVD would stroll up the pitch, when what we need is for the game to speed up. Palace are taking a minute every goal kick and throw in (earlier in season players are getting booked for taking 10 seconds, but seems the ref are totally ignorant of time wasting now. Hopeless)

Recall seeing VVD evening guesturing for Robbo to slow down/ wait for them to amber into the box at the start of the 2nd half when we were trailing.

Agree2

{Ed001's Note - that was very frustrating. You would think they would bust a gut to get up and get on with it.}

16 Apr 2024 13:30:00
Yeah, perhaps. Defensively enough minded, I'm not sure but definitely has the ability when fizzing balls through the lines.
Time will tell. Cheers Ed.

Agree1

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

16 Apr 2024 13:41:22
Quality over speed. I'm all for them taking a moment to ensure best execution of the set piece.

What if they rush it, screw it up and get hit with a goal on counter attack?

No, calm heads and clear thought. It takes a second to score a goal.

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - so they can't jog forward to get in the box rather than stroll? Not sure how that would stop it being the right execution.}

16 Apr 2024 15:02:39
I don't want Trent anywhere near the holding midfield role, personally. We need him back marauding down the right, putting in crosses. Where that leaves Bradley, I'm not sure. Regards to Endo, he's served a purpose this season, but he gets caught on the ball far too often and he's not the future. Regards to who takes his place, I've no idea. However, we employ a team of scouts who I'm sure are working on it as we speak. There are thousands of footballers, across the world. I'm sure there's someone out there.

While I'm on a role, I agree with those who think Salah's time has come to go. He isn't half the player he used to be, sadly. Who we get to replace him? See answer above.

Agree1

16 Apr 2024 15:04:15
Edd001 disagree with you on robbo. He made some great deliveries especially first half and seemed like our only outlet going forward. He delivered a great ball in which Diaz should have scored. Robbo also saved virgs slip clearing the ball of the line which i had hoped would have been the turning point. Second half i can't remember who was our best player to be honest because it was shocking to watch the same performance with a title to play for. Robbo could have fell off but he and allison stood out definitely for me.
On elliot, i couldn't agree more and was p. ed off seeing everyonelse come on and it took until the 82nd minute to put him on. An actual match winner for us . Just crazy on klopps part. For some reason i have thought klopp sees him elliot abut like minamino. It's a personality thing. I could be wrong but that's where maybe under the next manager elliot stops just appreciating being there and really shows he deserves to start ahead of others.

Glad you made that comment about the byline Ed. As far as going forward goes, it is the one thing i absolutely cannot understand or abide by.

City score an unbelievable amount of goals by getting to the byline and cutting the ball back, something which we never ever do. It is clear the management don't instruct the players to do this, and that seemingly our forwards are either too incompetent or too poorly coached to do it.

I am not a tactical genius by any stretch but it appears to me that getting the ball to the byline quickly and cutting back before the opposition can prepare is the most reliable and easiest way for the top teams to score. I feel like this was something we tried to do at our peak but i can't remember the last goal of that kind we scored.

Agree2

A great read Ed1, saw it was posted this morning but saved it for getting home, many thanks mate.

You know, it makes me think back to the start of the season I'm pretty sure you were the one saying Lijnders' tactics wouldn't work out for us in the long run and I also seem to remember many people not agreeing. Well, fair play mate because you were bloody spot on from the off.

I'm gutted with how things have turned out at the last hurdle, absolutely bloody gutted. I know it's not over and I'm probably speaking out of turn but I can't see us winning anything now mate, not this season.

One thing on my mind was Gomez, would you start him on the left instead of Robbo? reason I say it is because when he did play there he was absolutely fantastic! don't get me wrong I love Robbo and in no way slating him but when I think of the two and who is better in the position, surely it's Gomez?

Hope you are well Ed1 mate. Thanks again, always appreciate your time to write these.

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - I hope I will be proven wrong at the end of the season when we lift the Premier League.

I would stick with Robbo personally, Gomez does not offer enough attacking threat and on the left is always looking to come inside when we need width.}

16 Apr 2024 00:56:47
No wonder this team is looking fatigued we have had to come back from teams scoring first in 27 games 21 in the Premier league . The mental fatigue I feel is catching up with us now going behind missing loads of chances when we should be scoring is really caught up to us to the point its drying up.

16 Apr 2024 07:58:49
This is why Robertson saying the forwards need to take their chances didn't sit well with me. Focus on your own game pal. We only have 2 defenders who can say they've played to the level they are capable of this season; Bradley and Quansah.

Virgil has dropped the ball in several games with his strolling around, Robertson and Trent have been absolutely cooked repeatedly on the rare occasions they've been fit, Tsimikas and Gomez have proven yet again that they're mid-table players (at best) due to a lack of ability to consistently trap or complete a pass, Konate has completely failed to up his game even remotely and has arguably regressed positionally, and Matip is less robust than a McDonalds straw.

The defence has completely and utterly failed us this season. If we didn't have Alisson/ Kelleher behind them I think we'd be down with Villa and Spurs scrapping for 4th, never mind the title. The defence is heaping pressure onto our forwards every week and like you say, that constant demand on them can only be a bad thing in terms of mental and physical fatigue.

On a more positive note though, just wanted to elaborate a bit more on Quansah and Bradley. To make the step up from league 1 and look this good at 20/ 21 years old is exceptional. They both deserve a massive amount of appreciation. In a season where the senior defenders forgot to show up, they have dug us out of a hole and helped us massively in some very big moments. If all the hard work at the academy starts to pay off by giving us 1 or 2 young lads of that calibre each season, then the future is very bright. So I don't want to come off as too negative, despite the clear need for a defensive rebuild!

Agree6

16 Apr 2024 09:05:52
In fairness MK the Defence as individuals have been poor on occasions but defending happens very much as a team.

There were times in the last two games that the forwards and midfielders didn't track their runners and looked like training cones out on the pitch.

Agree1

16 Apr 2024 09:07:20
It's an astonishing stat isn't it. It's remarkable that a team that has conceded first and started so poorly on so many occasions was top of the league so late in the season.

I saw another dreadful stat yesterday regarding the "big chance conversion" of our five strikers. All poor. Nunez in particular, 6 out of 32.

So it's clear we have been poor in two of the fundamental areas of the game. That we (be it manager, coaching staff or players) haven't been able to change that over a long period of time is problematic.

Watching Liverpool this season has often felt like watching the same match over and over again. Start poorly, often concede first, lots of possession but don't create much with it, too many speculative long range shots, and the few good clear cut chances we do create and often missed. For as long as we were dragging ourselves over the line with a late goal, we were all happy but that sort of form always catches up with you in the end.

Exactly, RR. It almost felt like this was expected which we all knew deep down was never going to be a good thing but as fans, we were cool with it overall cos well we were winning.

Personally, I thought we would improve on these things with the injured players coming back BUT alas, it seems like the coaching staff either could not be arsed to do better or were just as blind to the effects these trends would have on the team in the long term. Well, "the long term" is here now and the results are in. Not good.

Robertson has been the only player starting that shows energy and urgency, he can say what he likes until his own performance level drops, and that won't happen with him.

Agree2

16 Apr 2024 13:13:47
I'd be interested to know the percentage of converted chances this season. It seems every match, we have 20 odd shots but only around 5 on target. It isn't a one off either, surely that stat tells the coaches something isn't working, forcing the players to just have useless attempts at goal.

Agree1

16 Apr 2024 13:11:34
FSG, Robertson has been way off his best this season. He's been struggling with injuries and he's been getting taken apart by some of the better wide men in the league as well. Throw in that his assists have slowed down too and he's got absolutely no right to be pointing fingers anywhere until he is no longer part of the problem. He set the bar very high but it's not good enough by those standards he set.

Personally I'd shift Tsimikas this summer and sign a new left back who can gradually phase Robbo out. Or at the very least give him a kick up the backside to sort his form out. It says it all about Robbo's form that at times, Gomez has been picked ahead of him to start this season despite being a centre back with his own form issues.

Agree1

MK scouser, jones is not of the elite standard that LFC need just because he comes from Liverpool that does not make him an elite player and for Gomez he is another one as is Timikas these players are not getting us to the level we all want I know their reds and i don't want to sound like i am slagging them i am just making an observation do you think any of the three players would get in a city side or Arsenal or even man u time to move them on and sign top elite players or we will always be second best to the big spending teams.

I don't know about all you reds, but for me Klopp doing interviews about what he and his wife are going to do when he retires has in my opinion, meant him taken his eye off the ball. He has six more league games left and hopefully a uefa cup, that he has been well paid for. so let's hope he gets back to having his mind on these games and leave with the love and praise he deserves.

15 Apr 2024 20:43:04
The players as well.
I know there's a lot of talk about tactics and that's got some validity for sure.

But tactics don't count for anything when players aren't closing down, playing passes behind players, falling over at bad times and missing sitters.

That was my point in the match posts. Yes, the coach is responsible for some of this but the players own an awful lot of what is happening right now. They need to really wake up now.

Iwillbeared, ever heard of multi-tasking or having multiple thoughts at the same time? Klopp was asked questions and he answered them. It's not like he brought up these topics on his own, did he? Pls, let's move on from these innuendos cos that's all this is, IMO.

IMO, these are red herring topics that have nothing to do with what has been happening for months this seasons in terms of how the team has been playing, our ability (or lack thereof) to stop spotting the opposition team a goal majority of the time and the inconsistencies in our finishing that have plagued us for the most part of the season. That's what I'm focused.

I agree Klopp and the players should think about football and Liverpool football club 24/ 7. The fact that they even eat, sleep or go to the bathroom is a disgrace.

Agree8

{Ed002's Note - Not going to the bathroom could be a disgrace.}

15 Apr 2024 23:14:55
It makes me laugh.

You people expect Klopp and the players to give you absolutely everything yet the first time the results donā€™t go the way you want you turn on them.

What happened to us all being in this together? Or does that only apply when weā€™re winning?

Youā€™ll Never Walk Alone, unless you lose and then you can all just be sacked.

And they say football fans are fickle.

Fact is there is only a few games left with big prizes up for grabs but when we play the way we have lately. The players should be running themselves into the ground not this lack lustre play . with open goals galore n bad defending, do you expect us to say oh its OK don't worry about it. we will all be here again supporting our team next year n year after . But let say how it is without being classed as a bad supporter.

If I'm being asked on what am I going to do after work, and I said I want to grab a dinner and watch a movie with the missus, does that mean that I'm done with my current job?

Agree4

16 Apr 2024 02:25:05
@Haizan - nobody in their right mind thinks anything at all except for their job.

@Iwillbe red - you need to get out more and get a few hobbies, mate. Perhaps if the manager had been able to spend a bit more time with his wife and on holidays he might have had the strength and desire to carry on a bit longer at Liverpool eh?

What happened to us all being in it together when the match going fans were blamed last week for the Atalanta defeat?

WDW I find the less time I spend with my wife the more energy I have.

Agree3

I hope you give all your energy to your employer and no energy to your personal life just as you expect Klopp and the Players to give all their energy to LFC.

It's about balance . WDW hits the nail on the head.

The knives are out for Klopp. Heā€™s gone from being the best manager weā€™ve had in 30 years to someone who gets picked apart by everything he says and does. Sad really.

Agree2

16 Apr 2024 07:20:33
Irish I doubt Klopp will lose much sleep over it mate.

At a guess heā€™s probably a legend in 97.3% of LFC fans eyes but you canā€™t please everybody all of the time.

Once Klopp goes he will be missed. Heā€™s made being a LFC fan an amazing experience over the years.

For that Iā€™ll always be grateful to him.

JK I did call out the fans for what happened on Thursday and thatā€™s exactly my point.

The fans are going to the game expecting the players to give everything on the pitch. They are expecting the club to push the finances to buy the best players yet in the current climate when everything now costs more they are not prepared to accept that they have to pay more for their ticket.

Not only that but they decide to stage what was basically a silent protest at a European quarter final yet they still expect the players to perform at their highest level.

If we are all in this together then we as fans have to appreciate the world we are living in and that the clubā€™s expenditure will have increased just like everything else has. LFC is not in a bubble that remains unaffected by a global cost of living crisis.

Agree2

16 Apr 2024 09:39:19
Amen to that @JK but at least I donā€™t have to worry about finding things to do when the missus is around.

Beckers i was at the game last Thursday and it definitely wasn't silent. The atmosphere was bouncing before the game and slowly died down in line with the performance, but from what i recall the section in the Anfield Upper where i was sang up to probably Atlanta's third goal.

Perhaps your tv or stream volume was the problem.

In the past you've stated that we are the best fans in the world but I'm guessing what you meant was we have the best online / streaming fans in the world.

For the unhappy fans the easiest option to get flags into Anfield and improve the atmosphere i'd say would be to lead from the front and go to games themselves.

"What happened to us all being in this together? Or does that only apply when weā€™re winning? "

@BP Yes, it only applies when we are winning for a lot of our fans and that is a fact.

However once the winning stops, these people go back to slandering and scapegoating their preferred targets du jour, the same ones they were bigging up when we were winning. Make it make sense. In fact, don't bother.

Thereā€™s no us in following a football team on an illegal free stream.

Agree0

16 Apr 2024 15:50:12
Guys, you know what the protest is about.

The fans are getting fleeced by the club and you expect them to just take it? If that happens the fleecing will get worse. If the protest affected the performance then good

If ā€œweā€™re in it togetherā€ then donā€™t exploit your fans.
The protest is on the club, not the poor fans who shell out every game.

Man utd 4-3, Man utd 2-2, Atalanta 0-3, Palace 0-1. OliRed, this is what happens when taking your eye off the ball. also Klopp is going because he can not carry on doing the job so making videos about retiring has had an affect, but you OliRed being someone that has never had anything to do with football, but just watch it, would not understand where i am coming from.

We're all annoyed at recent results, performances, missing sitters, team selections etc. but let's not moan today.
Today of all days is not a day to bitch and moan.
Be thankful, be grateful.
There 97 others I can think of who's like to have their say, they didn't get that chance.
God bless them x.

Nice. That's a great shout and a really good way to put it into perspective and remember those lost 35 years ago.

{Ed025's Note - the memory still very raw to me RR and unfortunately i remember that day well, a sad sad day for football and the city in general as it effected everyone, still no justice for the families as far as im concerned mate..

Definitely we shouldn't let recent results get in the way of memorialising the 97 fans who never came home 35 years ago. I'll be observing a minutes silence at 3:06pm. On the topic as well, I recommend everyone reads "When You Walk Through The Storm" by Anne Williams. It is an incredibly powerful book that perfectly embodies the fight for justice.

However, I don't think there is any need to censor discussions about football. If some people still want to have football debates today then just let them without making them feel guilty. Being passionate about what is currently happening on the pitch is totally separate to be passionate about the injustice that happened at Hillsborough. It doesn't really need to be turned into a divisive day with comments like this, does it mate. Just my take, as I think we're better off showing unity on today of all days.

Agree6

15 Apr 2024 15:41:15
Youā€™re right Myrtle. Today is not the day to pick apart recent results.

I made a mistake in doing that earlier, which was a lapse in judgement.

Today is about those that lost their lifeā€™s, their families, friends and also those who were there that day.

97 people went to a publicly organised event and never got to go home, either the same as when they left or at all. Justice has not been served. Their memory will live on forever but there has been no justice . Special mention to the Forest fans, who never flinched, never panicked and are always so supportive. They had to witness that horror and could do nothing to help. Will forever be greatful to their fans and the club. JFT97.

I wasnā€™t picking on you or anyone else, far from it!
Iā€™m as p. ed off as the rest of us an am bottling up my feelings of the last couple of games.
I was there that fateful day, and for me to moan about Xxx missing a sitter or Mr Kā€™s team selection doesnā€™t sit right with me (today) .

Iā€™m sorry to hear you had to experience that fateful day. Prayers to you and everyone else that were personally affected. And youā€™re right, tomorrow is another day. Enjoy the good weather wherever you are šŸ‘.
