We have decided to change the Teams page to be the Liverpool Match Posts page, so look for posts talking about the latest Liverpool match there.

But most of the posts still go to the Liverpool Banter page.

17 Jul 2018 00:50:58
Also more posts are being added to the Liverpool Other Posts page.

Hi Ed002, thanks for the sharkopod. Always look forward to it every summer. Was just wonder if you could clarify the Grujic comment saying that he has already gone out on loan. Was that a loan to cardiff or elsewhere?

Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - Cardiff - as far as I understand the deal is done,)

Warnock admitted he would look elsewhere if a deal wasn’t secured soon. “No updates (on Grujic), not really, ” he said. “I think his agent – as they do – thinks he can try and make more money somewhere else but Liverpool want him to come and I think it’ll be good for him. We’ll have to see how it develops. But we won’t wait forever. ”.

BBC gossip roundup via two very low quality sources. Talksport via Deportivo Munro. About as reliable as Southern Rail thankfully, as Cillessen is not a very good keeper.

Barcelona clearly want to get rid of Cillessen and Ed001 has made it clear a couple of times that Klopp is interested in Navas.

Who knows what is going to happen but I guess we can expect a new GK to arrive at Anfield before the window shuts.

Agree1 4Disagree

16 Jul 2018 18:39:49
maxlfc Barcelona and Real are both desperate to get Cillessen and Navas respectively and it’s important that we don’t get involved in any of that as whoever gets them is taking the short straw.

Agree3 3Disagree

16 Jul 2018 18:53:51
Frankly, it still does not take away the fact that Klopp holds an interest in Navas.

And let's not forget, Madrid's defence is not that good either.

16 Jul 2018 19:09:19
Sick and tired of this GK talk. I really would like to c Ward given a chance and not waste millions on more mediocre keepers.

I think you're all forgetting that we could be signing 2 keepers dependent on Ward staying or not.

16 Jul 2018 20:19:57
Or maybe Pickford.

Agree1 8Disagree

16 Jul 2018 20:43:34
Let's face it, we will need to find a GK who is suited to our brand of play lol. Whether Alisson Becker is even suited will be determined how much the LFC are willing to pay and even probably making him our highest earner. Help us all if it does not work out lol.

Not sure that is the risk the club would want to take at this point. But yes, still thinking a new GK will arrive.

Agree0 1Disagree

16 Jul 2018 20:49:56
maxlfc, their defence is better than they’re given credit for. Verane and Ramos are no mugs and they’ve got Modric and Kroos ahead of them. They restricted us to two shots on target which we scored from one of them (in no small part to keeper error! )! Normally when they concede it’s because Navas has made an error. This idea that he’s world class and in the same class as Neuer, De Gea, Oblak is a fallacy,

Agree5 1Disagree

16 Jul 2018 21:00:14
If we end up getting Navas because Klopp wants him then so be it, I don't rate him but I rate Klopps judgement more than my own. Whoever comes in whether we like them or not, we have to trust the club and support the player. Whether we sign Cillessen, Navas, Butland, Alisson, whoever else or stick with Karius, it's our job to support them and show them what YNWA really means.

Agree2 2Disagree

16 Jul 2018 12:30:21
This is a left field rumour. In a podcast conversation with the NY Redbulls Assistant Manager Jesse Marsch, he was asked about developing US youth players. They mentioned Matt Miazga as Marsch used to manage him and he said he is still in Chelsea's roster but has been playing in Holland (Vitesse) . The host was angling that he didn't make it in the PL but Marsch said it's the opposite and he went to Holland for first team experience and there has actually been an approach/ enquiry for him by Liverpool and he has a very bright future in the PL.

Believable5 3Unbelievable

16 Jul 2018 12:44:07
There's been plenty of young players predicted to have a bright future in the PL. Not many cut the mustard unfortunately.

Agree3 5Disagree

16 Jul 2018 15:28:37
He specifically mentioned that we had enquired or made contact with Chelsea regarding him.

Agree3 0Disagree

16 Jul 2018 17:43:47
A specific rumour?
Not sure how that works.
Does that mean he's just more detailed in the potential BS he's giving?
Is he more guaranteed to make it in the PL than Solanke is, who we also got from Chelsea and was touted as a top young talent?

Agree0 7Disagree

16 Jul 2018 19:00:24
It works by specifically saying we've made contact, not just that we're interested.

This is the simplest case of RTFP that you can get.

Agree2 0Disagree

16 Jul 2018 19:33:55

Who should be RTFP exactly?
We wouldn't be making contact if we weren't interested, would we?

16 Jul 2018 20:05:49
The target is leftfield. That doesn't mean the content is unspecific. You tried to shoot him down and failed because you can't grasp what he was saying. Sorry.

Agree4 0Disagree

16 Jul 2018 23:09:43
Shoot him down?
You've been watching too much TV dude.
How can anybody be specific about a young player having a bright future in the PL? That is the content isn't it?
Have you got your crystal ball out Mystic Meg?
Or is it you that's struggling to grasp it?
Chelsea player but playing in Holland, and this is from a US podcast?
Can you get any more tenuous?

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Jul 2018 23:36:29
If you class watching the World Cup as too much TV then yes, I have been. The rumour was not that he has a bright future, true, that's conjecture. It doesn't matter where the source came from, he specifically said that we had enquired about him. That is the content of the rumour, the rest is background. Otherwise it would have just said we'd enquired about Matt Miazga and you, like me, would have probably said, 'who'? It really isn't difficult.

Can anyone do a breakdown of which clubs are interested in our players?

It would be interesting to know how likely it is we get rid of the following:

Believable8 1Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note -
Daniel Sturridge has been of interest to Real Betis and Besiktas but money would be an issue for a permanent transfer and if Liverpool can't sell they would have to look for another loan.
Divock Origi has been of some interest to Newcastle, Trabzonspor and again Besiktas - but none seem convinced by him right now.
Danny Ings is being seriously considered by Southampton.
Georginio Wijnaldum is the subject from an enquiry from Fenerbahce.
Simon Mignolet was of interest to Fenerbahce (but they have Berke Ozer now) and Napoli (who have Alex Meret now).
Swansea were interested in Danny Ward but now Klopp has told him that he and Karius will vie for being his "number one" it seems he is staying.}

16 Jul 2018 12:22:30
Thank you ed! Do you expect lallana and Moreno to stay another season?

Much tbh.

Agree5 1Disagree

16 Jul 2018 15:15:36
I've not send enough either but from what I've seen i wouldn't think he is worth that much. Not because he made any howlers or because we scored by him for fun. More I've not seen a commanding keeper there. He seems to stay in his line for crosses that you'd expect him to come and claim. Don't get me wrong he's good but we're talking money that suggests he's DeGea, Nueur good. Is he any better than the likes of Leno and other very good keepers, or is he just flavour of the month.

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Jul 2018 15:39:12
as long as the price we pay won't affect other transfers which it shouldn't seeing as we have secured our main targets already, then i don't care if we overpay. he is probably the best who is actually available right now and considering how much we have underpaid for the likes of salah and mane we are due one.

Agree1 1Disagree

16 Jul 2018 19:46:12
I sometimes look at Allisson and he is good, good enough to keep Ederson out of the Brazil team, but the Brazil manager has shown loyalty to players instead of rotating.
I think we are so hyper critical of keepers in the prem, every keeper has a mistake in them. Neuer, Lloris and De Gea all made high profile mistakes at the world cup, but we still focus on Karius making one in a friendly more.
I do think we need a better No.1 but still think fans a and the media are too tough.

My main reason for thinking this will still happen is that Shaqiri has been given the 23 shirt. I know it means very little, but there must be a reason for keeping the no 10 shirt free.

Agree11 3Disagree

15 Jul 2018 20:57:04
Shaqiri wears 23 for Switzerland. I think him picking that number had more to do with him liking It, than any hidden messages about a number 10 coming in 😉 I do still think we'll get Fekir though.

Agree3 4Disagree

16 Jul 2018 12:32:45
He will join. The midfield jigsaw will be complete and then maybe a defender and we are done. The keeper issue has to be done with Klopp telling Ward/ Karius they are No1 battle buddy’s just like he did with Migs and Karius last season.

Agree1 2Disagree

16 Jul 2018 15:21:25
I believe Fekir will sign because as it has been said on here many times he wants to and Klopp wants him to.
Can also see that he hasn't been linked with anyone else and it's pretty obvious the world cup is why the deal hasn't went through.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - He has been offered to other sides but they do not see value in the asking price.}

15 Jul 2018 13:59:37
Thibaut Courtois is apparently close to a £30.9 million to Real Madrid which is a steal.

We should start seeing a domino effect of Goalkeepers moving now with Navas most likely to join Liverpool.

Believable5 36Unbelievable

15 Jul 2018 14:10:12
I honestly don’t see the point in signing a keeper who is liable to making all the same mistakes (and worse) than those already on the books. If Klopp thinks Navas is remotely competent then he’s deluded. I’d far rather give Karius and Ward a chance than waste money on a 32 year who will get eaten alive in the premier league.

15 Jul 2018 16:26:15
If he joins MK I can guarantee you’ll all be moaning about him once he starts letting in soft goals and throwing the ball in the net. I’m hoping thigh that there’ll be some other mug punter who buys him instead of us, given that I can’t see us signing off a cheque for £30m+ for a 32 year old.

Butland over Navas all day long, if we’re not going to buy Oblak or someone of that class. Not my first choice by a long way, but he’s young enough to improve and at least can survive the rough and tumble of the English game as he’s a big lad. And having been to watch England v Costa Rica, I can say that of the two keepers on display, Butland looked competent whereas Navas was at fault for England’s goals and was lucky not to have gifted us more as well as looking shaky every time the ball went near him.

Agree9 5Disagree

15 Jul 2018 17:19:08
Looking at the list of Navas honours suggests to me that he's a really crap keeper and no better than what we have. oh hang on.

Do any of us really watch Real Madrid to such a degree that we can truly comment on his quality? I'm easy on this one - his experience and record suggests he'd be an upgrade and what small amount I've seen of Alisson didn't impress me for the amount of € involved.

Agree10 6Disagree

15 Jul 2018 17:48:07
Don’t be fooled by his medals, if Bogdan had been in goal for Madrid he’d have won the same. That form of logic and false equivalency would lead someone to think Phil Neville was one of the greatest footballers ever because he’s won the league six times and the champions league. I’ve seen Navas play for Madrid regularly and in person for Costa Rica and he makes terrible mistakes every game. He is shocking on crosses and lacks any physical presence to dominate the six yard box.

Agree13 4Disagree

15 Jul 2018 17:58:22
Hmmm, I don't seem to recall Navas being that bad the last time I saw Real Madrid play, not in comparison to what was happening at the opposite end of the pitch in that match anyway.

Agree11 5Disagree

15 Jul 2018 18:08:04
Nor when he almost singlehandedly kept Brazil at bay for 90mins the other day either come to think of it. I'm not for one minute thinking he's the answer long term but I'm still thinking he may be an upgrade. Depends on the price I suppose, if there is actually anything in the link to us.

He needs to play, doesn't he?
If Brewster is promoted to the First Team squad, along with Solanke (and potentially Sturridge who is too good to ignore if he stays fit and isn't sold), then that would leave Ings really struggling for game time.
If Liverpool got their money bak, that's fair enough I think.
