We have decided to change the Teams page to be the Liverpool Match Posts page, so look for posts talking about the latest Liverpool match there.

But most of the posts still go to the Liverpool Banter page.

21 Jun 2018 09:21:12
Also more posts are being added to the Liverpool Other Posts page.

Eds,

In the past you mentioned Sturridge was overpriced by Pool.
Are you aware if the price has now been lowered and is it more reasonable for other suitors?
Or, still know one wants a bar of it?

Thanks

Tommy T.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have given a price to his agent that will make any transfer difficult unless they (a) lower the asking price, and (b) contribute to his wages.}

21 Jun 2018 05:13:56
Hey Eds, quick question if you follow the academy recruitment. There was a kid from WBA academy that the club was looking at I heard, it is where we got Yan Dhanda from. His name is Joshveer Shergill was the club interested in him as it looks he is going to sign with Leeds. Don't mean to throw out a random name, just heard a few things. Figured this site would be more reliable.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed001's Note - it is very difficult to follow academy recruitment mate. So I don't keep an eye on it. Sorry.}

I've been told that Alisson fee has been agreed with Roma, Real Madrid pilled our of the deal because they didn't see his price being fair, Edwards swooped in and offered what they was asking.

Believable13 25Unbelievable

20 Jun 2018 17:01:01
Apologise for the spelling mistakes, I was typing rather quick and ecstatically.

Agree5 2Disagree

20 Jun 2018 17:07:44
Im sorry but I rather doubt it. Ed has suggested Roma will look to a fee of around €90M, no way we can go anywere near that. Player wants Madrid.

We don't seem to be any nearer to sorting our Keeper situation full stop tbh, no truth any any of the rumours, all dismissed on here.

Agree6 14Disagree

20 Jun 2018 17:17:35
Madrid do not want the player, he can want Madrid all he wants, personal terms have already been agreed with his representatives before the World Cup started, more on the lines of £65m not €90.

Agree10 10Disagree

20 Jun 2018 17:22:57
It looks abit like Real Madrid are looking at other options in GK and just signed a 19 year old keeper. Maybe they are not interested in the price asked of Roma, so LFC is Alissons only option if he wants to leave and we will pay a fee that Roma deem appropriate.

Agree4 1Disagree

20 Jun 2018 17:28:37
Things do actually happen at LFC and sign8ngs do actually get made without the Eds knowing about it, you do realise that don't you kloppsreds?

Agree19 1Disagree

20 Jun 2018 17:49:51
So if a fee has been agreed and personal terms have been agreed then it sounds like it is a done deal. I look forward to it being reported in the press later today.

Agree3 6Disagree

20 Jun 2018 17:57:52
Real Madrid so sneaky. They Must have learnt the Sun Tzu Art of War to make us spend so much on GK. While they get just average GK for 20mil.

If ed2 says it’s so then it’s true. Absolutely deals happen without they’re knowledge but I’d imagine if there is truth to it, we’ll be informed. To my knowledge he’s said nothing along those lines and don’t think sparky has been active. Don’t get me wrong, he’s probably the only keeper I’d want at the club above Karius at the moment and rumors like this are always a bit of fun but at this point I would be very suspicious someone’s leg isn’t getting pulled.

Agree6 2Disagree

20 Jun 2018 18:22:03
In reply to Firminosteeth. "Madrid don't want him". If course they want him mate, not sure were you have got that from.

Big Emre, I do realise that on odd ocassions that happens mate but the Eds have been telling us all along the situation with Alisson and that the player wants Madrid and the fee involved is likely beyond our reach. Propably a safer bet saying he stays at Roma tbh.

Fabinho deal took everyone by surprise. Even Macca never saw that happened. So anything is possible.

Agree7 0Disagree

20 Jun 2018 19:13:14
Fair enough, but you only have to look at the signings of Fabinho, VVD, Klavan to see how things can come from nowhere. The club seem to be better these days at keeping things inhouse.

just been reading on Wales online that Grujic is wanted by AC Milan, with Lazio, Atalanta and Fulham also interested in taking him on a permanant. Cardiff keen on another loan deal. Npt sure if its old news but interesting anyway.

Believable1 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - There has already been a discussion with Lazio and the price is not seen as a major issue. Milan are in a difficult situation right now, as such they may only be interested in a loan with an option to buy.}

20 Jun 2018 11:20:00
If he is considered good enough as an option by lazio, milan and rated by cardiff, i don't see why klopp doesn't see him as an option.
i didn't see cardiff but only two games for grujic and he was pretty good.
why did we get through so much trouble, lied our asses to everyone, get transfer bans for a player who holds no future at LFC. trafers at LFC leave me scratching my head.

I still feel he should have his chance at LFC. he impressed a lot in last years preseason and definitely has the skills, strength in his repertoire.

Agree0 11Disagree

{Ed001's Note - Grujic lost his place and wasn't trusted, he has attitude issues and is simply not that good. Poor buy.}

20 Jun 2018 11:29:44
Allow him to move, we can't have another Lazor situation.

Agree7 0Disagree

20 Jun 2018 12:24:31
Grujic doesn’t and never did have the mobility to play under klopp. He is nowhere near dynamic enough, he’s a very talented lad and I have little doubt should still go on to have a very good career elsewhere.

Agree9 0Disagree

20 Jun 2018 13:31:08
I'd imagine Lazio may see him as a Milinkovic-Savic replacement, being of a similar position and build. I reckon he'll have a really good career, just not at Liverpool for whatever reason. Good luck to him.

Agree4 3Disagree

20 Jun 2018 13:45:09
Lazio midfield next year; Lucas Leiva, Marko Grujic and Luis Alberto.

Maybe we should ask them if they are interested in Mignolet, Moreno, Matip and Clyne?

Suso all over again. It will take an attitude adjustment and hard work but I think he will go on to have a good career.

Agree0 1Disagree

20 Jun 2018 19:27:23
Nothing like Suso who worked hard and impressed when given a chance but was simply not selected when other senior players were available. Suso left because he didn't feel he was being given a fair crack at the whip, the club would of liked to keep him - Grujic will leave because the club do not believe he is good enough, or working hard enough to earn a place in the squad.

Agree5 0Disagree

20 Jun 2018 20:47:27
Grujic did ok job for cardiff. they went on a run off 8 games win. unbeaten for even more. But as soon as Gunnarson (iceland) was fit he was dropped. Rumours were he had to play minimum of 14 games for the loan. personally i would have him at cardiff but not the player of top teams. although better players possible better performances.

Agree0 0Disagree

21 Jun 2018 06:02:06
Again i point towards the consequences of buying Grujic were pretty expensive for LFC and we did pay a good 10 million for him too.

So what's the deal? Have read comments on here for a couple of years about him being a good keeper. Is he not showing it in training, or does Klopp just not rate him for whatever reason? Surely if he's good enough he would show it on the training ground?
I wonder how often we bring in players who are no better than those in the ranks.

Another day, another goalkeeper linked to us, it was reported lfc have done some background checks on Nick Pope, not sure what 'background checks' really means, has he got a police record or something? It's probably a load of piffle as per usual.

Believable11 3Unbelievable

19 Jun 2018 20:00:54
Yes he needed a DBS check to make sure he isn’t a murderer or drug dealer! What a he hell ar background checks - our media really is a joke!

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Jun 2018 22:16:10
Could background checks not be checking his injury record, and I could be wrong but I think one of the Ed’s mentioned at some point that Klopp likes to do personality checks before signing a player. I don’t know if it’s true or not but I tenner hearing a story about Klopp from his bvb days where he was tracking a player and went to watch him play, the player scored and Klopp decided to end his interest based on the players celebration as he appeared to be celebrating for himself and not the team.

Agree1 0Disagree

20 Jun 2018 01:27:38
Remember what JK said about Fabinho upon signing? He talked about his personality and how he trained, how he'd fit in etc. These are perhaps the kind of checks we are discussing.

I had heard this rumour a few months ago saying Real were offering us around 75million for him making us a 15/ 20million profit on a player who didn't even kick a ball for us. Technically they could buy him from us but not till 1st of July.

Quick google led to to a story in the Express (yep! ) from mid-May about Real apparently offering us double what we paid (£96m apparently) for him before he’d kicked a ball.

No other source and nothing since, so the cynic in me says it was a story planted to try to unsettle the team/ fans before the CL final.

Hopefully that’s all there is to it.

18 Jun 2018 23:44:26

19 Jun 2018 00:42:47
Google running a story could be a tedious link, I didn't really wanna publicy post why it could be more in it as it would get my pal into issues. But try ordering a shirt from the website with Keita on the back and see how far you can get. Like I said there could be nothing in it, could be something. Unfortunately this is why people stop posting as much now, the community on here used to be amazing and positive. Now it's all about giving people aggro when things are posted that they don't like to read. Unless it is macca or an ed. Even then some people try play them off each other. Sad to see, I'll go back to lurking. Peace.

Agree12 2Disagree

{Ed0333's Note - hey scousedel I still get abused and I’m an Ed lol. I’m certainly not gonna shoot the messenger thankyou for your input and let’s hope and pray Keita is in red and not white this coming season.

19 Jun 2018 05:15:17
One brilliant season with us and he is most definitely off. Not being negative but i am pretty sure if he has a great season with us and we don't win anything he would be off sooner than later. I anyhow don't see him as long term solution. he would at max have 3 seasons with us. but that is how football is these days. Same applies for Salah and mane. i think bobby might stay a while unless his talents get recognized in the footballing world. To keep these players at the club we have consistently win trophies.

I pray we get to see a season of keita ripping apart clubs for us and winning us the league. if we sign a few players this window it is very much possible. we do have quite a fantastic team as of now. A couple of additions would work wonders.

Agree2 17Disagree

19 Jun 2018 06:47:02
Could the Eds clarify how this could work, given the deal we already have with RBL?

Can Madrid actually ‘hijack’ the deal i. e. it’s something outside of our control that Madrid and RBL could agree?

Or is it something Madrid could only achieve by agreeing a deal with us directly to buy Keita from us on 1 July or thereafter?

Just want to understand if it’s in our control to sell Keita if we decide to (for whatever reason) or not.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - Keita has merely signed an agreement to sign with us. There are always clauses to allow either side to cancel the deal, usually there is a price stipulated to buy it out. If Madrid want to, then they would just have to buy out the contract, similar to a normal transfer.}

19 Jun 2018 06:52:20
Akshit while I agree with the latter part of your post regarding us winning trophies to keep our best players, I think your jumping a gun a little with the keita comment, saying that one brilliant season with us and he'll leave.
And as for Bobby, I'd rather lose any player from our team, and yes I'm including Mo than lose Bobby.

Is Keita really THAT good? Not so much the RM wanting to pay double, but is he a player who can single handed win the league? Obviously that’s impossible, but some players are the difference needed. I Don’t recall reading we were up against many to sign him.

Agree0 1Disagree

19 Jun 2018 13:02:21
Yeah, well, we weren't up against many when we signed: Salah, Coutinho, Suarez. Or at least we don't know much on that :D As it should be.

Obviously he is good, if we're willing to get a deal with a one-year waiting period. Looking forward to seeing him play for Liverpool.

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Jun 2018 13:33:02
McFurgen - depends what you need. If you have a world class attack and defense and no-one linking them together, yes he could be the player to win you the league. If you've got a decent team all round and he's your superstar player, no he's not even close to that good.

Anyway, as Ed001 has said it is us that anyone wanting him now would have to negotiate with, I think we can probably put this one safely to bed as we're not going to be accepting offers for him are we?

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Jun 2018 15:16:57
We have a world class attack and a decent defence, he will be key to carry the ball in midfield and add a real edge to our threat in possession.

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Jun 2018 16:15:49
SGRed, agreed, I think many people are unaware how much he'll bring to the team, I've watched him for two seasons straight and the lad is the real deal. Our midfield overall I wouldn't of called it weak but without Hendo I would. Next season with Keita this changes, he's going to be excellent. I see people worrying about these RM claims, I wouldn't it's not going to happen.

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Jun 2018 16:25:32
It's all good Mark, like I said there could be nothing in it. All I know is that no Keita shirts are allowed to be printed at all. But zero reason given, so staff are speculating hence the rumour. I hope there isn't anything in it, I don't think there is but it's just a strange one out the blue.

19 Jun 2018 18:15:05
Players are given a holding number so they can still process orders. Fabinho was 99 when he signed so orders could go through whilst they updated everything officially. I would assume that Keita had one also but no shirts can be done at the moment. The lack of reason why is the worrying part, they aren't even being fobbed off or reassured. It's just a flat out don't do any.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jun 2018 18:19:48
Agree with Swish there. Considering the ruckus when Firmino switched from 11 to 9 when Salah arrived. For instance. Just sit tight and enjoy the summer.

Agree1 0Disagree

19 Jun 2018 18:40:16
Thanks Ed001. So, as unlikely as it is, RM could strike a deal with RBL (with the player's agreement of course) whereby he could never arrive with us and we couldn't do anything about it?

As you said, extremely unlikely for so many reasons, but interesting (and concerning! ) that it could happen without our consent.

Has this sort of thing happened before? Where the buying club hasn't had a say in a deal being bought out?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - perhaps I should try to curtail this weird discussion. The Real Madrid interest was last year when Liverpool and RBL were discussing, but had not agreed, how much of an additional payment the club would need to make in order to buy the player this summer. Real Madrid considered striking a similar deal but dropped their desire to do so and Liverpool came to an agreement with RBL and coughed up the additional payment. There is no offer now, no pre-contract to buy out - nothing. Bobby will be able to join from July 1.}

Appreciate that Ed002. Thanks for putting mine and others minds at ease. I will relay that to my bud who passed the rumour onto me and hopefully quell worries there.

Imagine how annoyed you'd be if your surname was Keita and you kept being told by the club that you couldn't put it on your shirt and you're just like. it's my name!

Hello Eds,

What is the situation with Sturridge, obviously the club would like to offload him. Is it the price tag the club want or his wages? My assumption is the club would not replace him if he left either.

{Ed002's Note - if he were to leave he would need to be priced at a level where it would be acceptable and, critically, he would have to have realistic wage demands. I don’t see him going anywhere just for the money nor anywhere he doesn’t want to be. Injuries mean it will be hard for clubs to sign up for what might be a risk.}

Both Sturridge and Markovic are in similar positions in that they are both on good wages and the club want to recoup a lot of the outlay on both. Both will need to reduce wages as well.

I read the club had set their price for Studge at £15 mil. Thinking some club's would see him as a bargain at that price in the current market.

i am very surprised with studgers injury management. he is just not able to keep fit. must be terribly frustrating for a player.
cant do much if you are not playing.

Pretty sure Markovic is only on 35k, but Studge is on around 120k, both need to go though.

$15 mil a bargain price? Th guy has played less than 50 games in 3 seasons including 5 min sub appearances. He’s on 100k a week at least. Just to get someone to take him off our hand at his wages will be a win.

While DS was desperately unhappy and wanted to leave for some time.
He now wants to stay.
I don't Know why he changed his mind but that is an ITK fact.
