What’s going on with Keita? It’s been a couple of years now and he just isn’t recognisable from the hardworking attacking goal scoring midfielder we thought we were getting? Is it confidence? Is he being asked to play differently to how he was in Germany? Does he just not care? I’m utterly perplexed by him as I simply cannot believe all that ability just disappeared on the plane journey to liverpool.

I don't know Westwood. Could he be used to playing with a no10 in front?

I don't get it either. I think he might be a bit intimidated.

He was a hell of a player for rb. Maybe he needs space to play his game and isn't getting it in the prem.

There is more to it, he is doing or not doing some very basic things. Short passing is sloppy, the aggressive runs in the box are non existent and the press from midfield is not in sync with the others. Gini when moved to the rcm position at Chelsea did more in the 30 mins than keita did in the previous games combined.

I would love him to turn it around, his confidence is shot and he's clearly not playing to his potential. Pressure is on with a new midfielder and nothing to show from the early season. He should play at Lincoln cause I would not start him in next Pl game.

Personally I think it’s time to cut our losses and move him on. I had great expectations but I’m just not seeing it, must be frustrating for the management team at LFC. If playing him against Lincoln and not against Arsenal is the best we can do then that’s not a £50m footballer.

I agree he’s not do anywhere near enough but surly the question should be why is klopp still picking him! Am at a loss.

{Ed025's Note - good point longthing, maybe with thiago in the mix now it could change mate..

Bit harsh lads, has been our best midfielder since the return from lockdown. Ididnt think he done anything wrong in particular Sunday to be subbed. Think it was more a case of getting fresh legs on.

{Ed025's Note - i think your being very kind to him there jadon..

His first few yards with and without the ball are impressive, he has a nice touch a quick turn, gets the ball out his feet well, but then he struggles, he is the opposite of Can, who took about 15 yards to get going then was like a train haha, i can see there's a player there but maybe not confident or with the right work ethic, shame as he could be a real baller.

7.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 08:16:47
He loses possession too cheaply, doesn’t get stuck in, has no idea of how to get into space to make himself available for a pass and not once since he’s joined has he dominated a game from midfield, he’s more interested in his social media activities and getting laid than his football career. I’d sell him.

I’ll be honest I didn’t see the Chelsea game but in the Leeds game he was abysmal Jadon. So I can’t agree there mate.

He just hasn't worked out, can't remember one game he has bossed. May be time to cut our losses with Thiago in now our starting should be Fabhino- Thiago- Hendo.

10.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 09:23:12
Keita just doesn't have "it". The fact that he had "it" before at RBL doesn't do us any good now, does it? See how à true professional of à high level, hits the ground running, like Thiago Alcantara.

I think Klopp is sticking with him because Keita is the one player Klopp stuck out his neck for the most- the way they structured that deal of purchasing a player one year in advance. It wasn't even a loan back, which lessens the risk a bit.

11.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 09:34:48
Just think it's a bit of "we have Thiago now, we don't need that other fella that helped us win trophies over the last couple of years". Just cos we have a new toy we shouldn't be dying to discard the players we already have, who without there hard work Thiago wouldn't even want to join in the 1st place. maybe I'm being too loyal, just think he does too many nice things to give up on him just yet.

12.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 09:43:58
Different league to the Bundesliga, maybe the effort isn't there? When you hear about the things he got to in Germany then you have to question if he has the desire to really work hard. Off course everyone can change but have to want to.

13.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 09:47:15
As a huge Keita fan, I think he is on his last legs, guys. He simply not getting it done. All the penetrating runs are just papering over the other flaws in his game that some may not see or choose to ignore.

I can understand why Klopp keeps picking him cos he wants him to succeed and most importantly, Klopp moved heaven and hell to get him here to the point of tapping him up and getting the club in trouble. Will Keita make it? We shall see BUT the signs are NOT good right now.

14.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 09:55:58
Jadon, he is an arrogant sod though isn't he, only cares about going on about how much he earns etc he seems to care more about that then playing football. I think we all know he's a very talented footballer, we've seen it in the past but since joining Liverpool he's done bugger all for us.

I've stood by him, hoping his attitude would change but it hasn't and it won't so enough is enough, sooner he's out the door the better, he's a waste of wages. I'd much prefer a youngster to be in his place getting chances now. Keita has had his chances and blown them, how long are we meant to be patient hoping for the best?

15.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 09:57:59
Liverpool over the last couple of seasons have utilised a hard working industrious midfield. Think Gini, Henderson, Milner. And it has worked, but we've relied on creativity from genius flicks and interplay from Firmino, or out wide from the full backs.

Clearly, the signing of Thiago was to move away from that one-dimensional midfield setup. We still have it, and can play that way when Klopp thinks that is the right way to play against team X and team Y. But now that we have someone with the flexibility and creativity in midfield, he'll no doubt get more out of Keita in the process.

Keita takes more risks than the likes of Wijnaldum. That is why he loses the ball more, but he's an attacking midfielder. That hasn't always suited our style. Give him a chance with Thiago in the side, and I think we'll see a different player.

16.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 10:15:21
Keita cannot defend back. Give him a chance when we have thiago and fabinho in holding roles and keita in free role. He will kill it. All the doubts should light a fire in his belly and now that he is starting and is easily among the low performers, coming back will show a test of his character and faith in his skills. If he passes this test we will walk with the league. If he doesn't we have a race to the top.

17.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 10:35:19
He can defend himself by getting his head straight and sorting it out on the pitch aksh*t. He hasn't done that, he has had doubters for quite a while now so im sure he'll be well aware but nothing has changed.

18.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 10:25:07
Of course, you would sell him and keep Wijnaldum 6 Times. coz he ticks everything you have mentioned.
Keita is the only player that could take the ball and carry it forward.

19.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 11:47:48
Salah I don't really want to get into whether he's a sound bloke or a tosser because i know NOTHING about that, just like practically every1 else on this sight. I judge by what i see on the pitch, and while I'll agree he hasn't lived up to expectations. maybe peoples expectations were too high from the start. i know he's living on borrowed time but the likes of Hendo and Gini (and again i don't mean there personalities off attitude offpitch) should remind us how sometimes its wise to give a player just a little bit more time.

20.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 11:53:39
No point listing all the things Keita can do or is capable of, the fact is he’s not doing those things and never has for us.
I hope he turns it around and has a great season but he looks like he’s going backwards to me, almost like playing with 10 men when he plays.

21.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 13:05:26
I must be blind when I watch football because I've seen little of Keita's supposed excellence in the past two years. He was great in his first game for us - think it was against West Ham - but has done little since and nothing to repay the effort we made to get him to the club. For me he leaves and we play Jones instead, his passion for the club - which Keita seems to lack - will mean we likely have a better all round player and a bit (a small bit probably) of cash in our bank account.

22.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 13:16:19
I still haven't given up on Kieta. I'm in it for the long haul. I think he just needs to play with a higher energy and demand the ball a bit more. And obviously step up defensively. Still routing for him.

23.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 13:40:36
Some players thrive on being a big fish in a small pond. Others can’t handle moving to a massive club like Liverpool where the expectations are so much higher. Then you have the players who move to a big club and think they have made it and stop trying.
Unfortunately, I think Kieta could be a combination of all three.

24.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 13:49:27
Jadon I do understand what you're saying mate but many people on this site knows full well what he is like as a person. He was like it before he joined Liverpool, many were concerned by this at the time. I was one of the few who thought he'd turn it around and be sound, he didn't.

I do agree, people expected a lot of him from the beginning, I'm guilty of that and as we know it can take time for a player to really do well as you say but with the right attitude and he just doesn't have it.

I'm all for defending our players but we have a squad of quality professional lads then you have Keita, only interested in social media and going on about nothing important (money, lifestyle) , not doing bugger all on the pitch, he needs to go.

25.) 23 Sep 2020
23 Sep 2020 15:35:27
I am not interested in what Keita can do or what he was doing before he came here. I am interested in what he is actually doing for LFC and for right now, he is failing miserably. He is super-underachieving right now and seems not to be arsed about getting stuck in and getting his hands and feet dirty. Pulling out of challenges? Not having that EVER.

Being able to carry the ball forward into blind allies, losing it and then strolling back while the other midfielders hustle back doing his work for him, is of no use to me. If he cannot do what other midfielders are doing then he needs to either get his ship together or he gets let go. And this is coming from a huge Keita fan.

26.) 23 Sep 2020

He's not very good, is he?

27.) 23 Sep 2020

I remember his first couple of games for us. looked impressive. Since then he's been practicaly rubbish. Get him in the reserves. If he doesn't improve, Get what we can for him and get him out of the club. Only interested in himself and the glamour of the lifestyle.
