Hi eds1
Just interested in your quick assessment of Peter Beardsley.
Thanks in advance mate.

{Ed001's Note - quick assessment? A truly great player, though totally devoid of any of the physical attributes to be so. He wasn't pacey, particularly strong or powerful, no aerial presence, he didn't even look like a footballer, but he was fantastic. When they talk about the first 5 yards are in your head, they could show him as an example, because he was always thinking a few seconds ahead.

David Silva reminds me of him in so many ways, in that physically he didn't have the attributes we are told so often are needed in England, but he was just so clever and so technically gifted that he didn't need pace or height or raw strength. Beardsley was so creative and a good finisher too. One of the great players of his era, though often overlooked when people talk about greats.

Also loved the fact that he was one of very few players to play for both Manchester and both Merseyside teams.}

I remember watching David Silva's play for Spain in the 2010 World Cup when they won it. They had that magical midfield of Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta and Silva; and in my opinion he was the best of the lot. Really opened my eyes to his talent at that time.

{Ed001's Note - I love David Silva (not so sure Busquets deserves inclusion, he was just lucky his limited talents have been covered up by the immense brilliance of the rest with Spain and by Messi too at Barca) but Xabi Alonso and Iniesta I think were better players at the time.}

Watching David Silva play was like sensing the feeling of chocolate melting in your mouth, watching him felt that good.

As for Beardsley Ed01, did he play for Utd and City?

Cheers, man.

{Ed001's Note - yes both of them.

That is a great description of Silva.}

Like many, sold by Souness far too early. A brilliant passer of the ball, linked the play amazingly and scored some crackers.

Interesting to hear you don't rate busquets 001, I tried to watch him in the past to find out how on earth he or anyone else for that matter could keep alonso out of the great Spanish side, but every time I did he infuriated me with his dramatics to the point that I couldn't enjoy the game, so I still have no basis for an opinion on him.

{Ed001's Note - his dramatics are his key skill mate, bit like Grealish, Zaha and the like. They win fouls when they have lost the ball or committed a foul themselves. It is incredible how bad the refereeing must be to not have spotted they are just blatant cheats. Busquets can't even run, he makes Molby of now seem mobile. Actually he makes me nan seem like a nifty mover and she has been dead for years!}

The only reason I asked about peter is that I was watching him on LFC tv he looked a class act.
Thanks again eds1.

{Ed001's Note - he was as a player that's for sure.}

Iniesta was the best player on the planet around 2010. Might not have been as exciting as Ronaldo and Messi but easily as effective.
