I have watched depay live and I’m telling you I have never seen a player steal a living more then him
The fella refused to chase back and only came alive when the ball was anywhere near the box he is the most laziest player I have ever seen
In one of the same games I watched dembele play the former Celtic player and it was like chalk and cheese the want desire need to get the ball back make runs and space for others was amazing, out of the two I would choose him every time over depay.

Perfect timing that article ed thank you.

{Ed001's Note - I actually forgot to post it up yesterday when I finished it.}

Ed, I probably read your views on specific players more than I do any other source, but there is no way Deulofeu is a better player than Insigne or Son, and Sterling is nowhere near Ronaldo, Hazard or Neymar regardless of the weight/ attitude problems in the latter two.
Sterling is very reliant on the creative abilities of his team mates, and his finishing still remains a seriously weak part of his game. Would you really pick him over any of the three you put directly below him?

{Ed001's Note - it is not only being better, it is also about playing there regularly, which is a problem for Son as he plays on the right and up front a fair bit too. Hazard has missed a large chunk of the season through injury and then played terribly and he regularly goes missing for chunks of each season. I am sorry but to suggest Neymar is much better is ludicrous, he performs in a terrible league and then regularly flops on the bigger stage of European football and internationals. Ronaldo has spent the last few years playing as a striker, this is his first season back on the left for a while and he struggled in Sarri's system. Deulofeu has been a game changer for Watford, Insigne has not been at his best. As for Sterling, he may be heavily reliant on the creative abilities of his team-mates and his finishing is not the best, but he has excelled for City and puts in a performance in almost every game. Against Liverpool is a notable exception. Whether you would pick Sterling over the others or not is irrelevant, he has been playing at a higher level for City on a regular basis both in a tough league and in Europe and for England too.}

I can’t really disagree with any of that, especially Sterling’s performances against Liverpool.
Although Deulofeu is clearly a good player, his highest level of performing consistently in his career has been at Everton (I don’t want to speculate on why he was unable to do so at Barca, who knows what happens there) . Regardless of his value to Watford, surely he has to do it at a level higher than Watford to be compared to some of the absolute best.
For Sterling, I agree - especially with regard to how much he has improved. But I wonder what another player could do in Sterling’s situation. Son/ Hazard would be absolute magic in that City team.

{Ed001's Note - Everton? His problem there was inconsistency, at Watford he has developed that to a large degree. How can you say a higher level than performing in the most competitive domestic league in the world is needed to compare? Especially when he is turning up and making a difference for what is, on paper, one of the weaker teams in that league. The Spanish and French leagues only have a couple of competitive games a month, every game in England is competitive.
Hazard doesn't work hard enough for Pep, he wouldn't track back and that is why he wouldn't work in a Pep team. He is on the lazy side, which is why he goes missing and suffers so many regular injuries imo. He is simply not fit enough physically to cope with the demands placed on his body over the course of a season. I do agree Son would be fantastic though.}

Love seeing Sadio at Number 1! His goal away at Bayern was a thing of beauty in terms of awareness and technique. These top tens are class Ed!

{Ed001's Note - one thing I have noticed is no one is disputing Mane is the best right now!}

{Ed001's Note - Deulofeu plays in the strongest, most competitive league in world football, against the two best teams in the world right now in Man City and Liverpool. There really isn't a better place to judge him, outside of European competition. He has to turn up every game, whereas the players in the Italian, Spanish and French leagues only have to turn up for a handful of games a season. And that is if you include European games! By the way, his problem at Everton was purely lack of consistency, so no idea what you are talking about there. Consistency is something he has been gaining over the last few years at Watford.

As for Sterling, I agree on Son but not Hazard. Hazard is a bit lazy for Pep, he doesn't track back or put in the hard work. Imo his regular dips in form and injuries are caused by a lack of basic fitness as he does not work hard enough in training on that aspect. He would never fit into either a Pep or a Klopp team.}

I love mane. Nice list ed01. Agree with it all. I didn't know hazard was struggling at Madrid. No coutinio either? I'm guessing if he showed his late Liverpool form at Barcelona or bayern he'd have made the list?
The Watford lad destroyed us I'm the league eh. And I really like jota too. Probably my 2nd favourite team atm.

{Ed001's Note - Hazard was struggling but then just started to show form when the season came to a halt. As for Couts, I have never been convinced he is that special to be honest.}

Interesting read Ed01. I was suprised with Deulofeus inclusion too, he has never impressed when I've watched him, admittedly not very often.
The top 2 have both had a great season and are way ahead of the competition, Mane is world class. Your assessment of Ronaldo and Hazard spot on, as it just has not worked out for them this year.
Neymar and PSG steamrolling teams every week and winning the league by 30-40 points is a joke, he will look back on his career with regret 1 day, although maybe he is more interested in the money.

{Ed001's Note - Neymar regretted the move from the moment he made it and has never been happy at PSG.}

A couple of players I'm surprised haven't had a mention is Bale, Sane, Coman, Costa, Sancho or Thorgan Hazard.

I'll admit a few of them have suffered with injuries this year or have played other positions but they are all very good left sided players.
