I think Martinelli of Arsenal would be a great buy for us. Unlikely admittedly but looks a real talent, relatively low wages and at a great age.

Plays across the front three positions and would settle with our Brazilian contingent.

I watched him play for Arsenal in the Europa league back at the start of the season (he scored twice) and the next day I told my Arsenal supporting work colleague he was the closest I'd seen to Fernando Torres (Liverpool version) since the man himself. The pace, the balance, the willingness to run the channels, run in behind, win headers, battle with defenders, go past players. He us a complete forward.

For me he is the best teenager in world football. If we signed him I'd be ecstatic.

OP, Minamino is just as talented and can do exactly what Martinelli is doing now and is older and more experienced in Europe and in the CL so IMO, he would not be needed.

{Ed025's Note - for me minamino is a bit lightweight for the prem, he could prove me wrong though..like fabinho and henderson..

I still think that there’s room for an AM in our squad.
We do play that way occasionally (tthe set-up described by PB above, see Wolves the other night) and I think it’s a system that Klopp would turn to more regularly with the right AM. In fact, if Coutinho had stayed, that would have been our main style.
It’s a role that maybe Keita, Ox or Minamino could fill and I also think that Bobby could play very successfully there with a quick man ahead of him. Again, see the other night- Bobby was withdrawn to an AM and Salah went CF.

All in all, we have to develop that system better. We’ve become a very flexible, all-round team able to adapt to challenges but that AM system can be improved imo.

There's room for both Minamino and Martinelli. If we go by what Klopp said at the pressie, Minamino is best between the lines and channels. Martinelli seems to be ideally suited to play CF. And I'm biased towards Brazilians. 🤷‍♂️.

{Ed047's Note - You’re not getting Martinelli so you can forget that! 🤣😉

Craving over other teens while we should going all out to see our own getting a bit of footie. Both rumour and page are flooding with tons of other prospects we should be signing. Are we starting to finally agree with the what Ed said about Liverpool not being a team to develop and push through it's own young lot? Is the Arsenal kid any better than Elliot by that much that he should already be replacing him? We might be well positioned to win silver but somethings could be improved.

Klopp loves him, described him as a “generational talent” after the 5-5 this year.

To be fair Ed0025 your best player is 4 stone in weight 😉.

{Ed025's Note - but bernard has inner strength jimmy, minamino looks like he needs a good pan of scouse down him mate.. :)

ed025 he could prove you wrong like all the everton signing you thought where good lol.

{Ed025's Note - my track record is not very good grino i agree, unfortunately my heart rules my head when it comes to everton mate..

Ed025 are you say that Henderson has proved you wrong😱.

{Ed025's Note - im becoming a big fan of his lately barry, i always thought he was a bit of a turkey with all that sideways and backward passing he used to do, but fair play to him mate he has stepped up his game and has become very important to the team..

Ed25, and you drew that conclusion from watching his debut? I know patience is alien to you BUT try it sometimes. It works. FYI, Minamino was not lightweight when he played LFC in the CL this season cos he caused us a bunch of probs in both games so don't know where you got this "lightweight" notion from esp. since that Wolves game was his first game in the PL.

Also clearly, he is not fit cos he has not played football for a while before joining us so he will need time to get up to speed. IMO, we will not see the best of "Mino" till next season when he has had a full preseason with us.

{Ed025's Note - i have seen him play quite a few games actually and as i stated its just an opinion..

Ed25, no problem with that. We will see what happens.

At least you can admit you was wrong Ed! I lambasted you about Fabinho and I’d say he’s the worlds best cdm on current form.

{Ed025's Note - hes been excellent lerchy...but lets not go overboard mate..

Name me better in his position. And please not Andre Gomes!

{Ed025's Note - kante...by a squillion miles..

I’d say kante is more box to box but I’ll let you have it. It’s not fair winning everything all the time.

{Ed025's Note - how magnanamous of you lerchy.. :)

He'll be fine for us, taki. Yossi was slight but brilliant. I see no reason why he can't emulate the isreali.

Kante isn’t a DM, Ed025. Superb player, but not the right example to compare to Fabinho.
Kante is also not as good as he was at Leicester and his first two seasons at Chelsea, where he genuinely was one of the best midfielders in the world.

{Ed025's Note - still is imo lowel..

Kante is not a DM and never has been so comparing him to Fab (a true DM) lacks logic cos even at Chelsea, he is NOT the DM there. Jorginho is. Kante plays the Box to Box role there now.

{Ed001's Note - I don't see any comparison with the two. Fabinho is more of a playmaker who sits deep, like a good Jorginho. Kante is all about energy and mobility, though he has been shackled to the right side and wasted over the last few years. He is certainly not a defensive mid. It is my pet hate the way moronic pundits always talk about him as one.}
