I remember posting back when we were heading into winter with a 7 or 8 point lead and we were all rightly nervous and cautious but I was predicting that I thought we might double that lead by Xmas as it was at a time where city faced 6 fixtures mostly against bigger sides while our 6 fixtures were favourable. It turned out accurate and I'm now feeling similar thoughts. City next 6 games they have 4 away, they play spurs Leicester arsenal and United along with sheff Utd away and even Chelsea before they play us.

In that period we play west ham twice, wolves, Bournemouth, Watford, Southampton, Norwich and I think palace. I could see it very possible that we pull so far ahead that the league may be won before March is out, . Of course city can win every game but I can honestly see them dropping more points than we will over next 6 or 7 games. Cities easiest run of fixtures is their last 6 which are all against the weakest teams while we are just now facing into our best run of opponents while city face their toughest run. This could genuinely be over by the 30 game mark and I'm saying this with realism and not just arrogance. Pep will at some point look to move all his importance to the champions league as he knows it's too large a task to catch us, . If we take 6 points over the next week we'll be sitting on 70 points with 14 games left, city can only get to 93points with 100% record from 15 games, I can only see them reaching 80-85 points so we could realistically pass that mark with 7 or 8 games to spare considering the level of opponents we face compared to city over next 7 or 8 gameweeks.

I'm going to predict that we seal the title in the Merseyside derby.

Not sure why this is even debatable any more. I lived through the hay days of the 70's and 80's so have been overly cautious predicting a title. But, in the current climate you'd be mad not to be at least 90% confident of winning the league this year. We're not steam rolling teams, but getting the job done and those beneath us are dropping points with regularity.
It wouldn't overly bother me if we didn't go deep in the champions league but set some severe records in the league this season. Let's be honest, if at the start of the season anyone predicted we could win the league with half a dozen games left to play and have a shot at beating City's 100 pt total and potentially matching Arsenal's invincibles, you'd have laughed.

I just want the league, nothing else matters. If we have games to spare, I’d love to see some younger lads get more mins in. Set us up better for next season.

I’m agreeing with Burkey on this. We are in a position that no top flight team has ever been in or could ever be again. Let’s make the most of it and smash all records. People still revere Arsenal’s invincibles and rightly so. If we could do that with 112pts we’d be talked about and revered for generations to come.

I’m not disagreeing with Har but in the matches we have in that period we are playing 3 teams (Wolves, Norwich and Palace) who took points off City. No “easy” games but of course there are “easier” games you are expected to have more chance to win.

If the records come then that is a bonus, but never ever EVER should achieving records to make Arsenal and United fans jealous come before winning the Champions League. That’s what we’re famous for, it’s the pinnacle of the sport (maybe even the pinnacle of sport as a whole), the top level of competition, the ultimate sign of glory and prestige. We have a very good chance to win both trophies this year, we’re by far the best team in the world right now, you’d have to be bonkers to accept anything other than at least making it to the semi finals even if that means we throw away the unbeaten league record.

I don't, was only really giving my personal prediction and of course it's merely based on guessing.

I'm with you Anonymous woolback on the importance of CL and disagree with anyone who places records over major titles. Especially this year as we're holders and to go and win it 2 seasons back to back would be arguably our greatest achievement. We will win the league im very very confident of that but to follow that up with another CL win would really assert our dominance. It's not often you get a chance to retain the biggest club honour so we should have 100% focus and importance in grabbing our chance.

Last year was the same suggestions being thrown about with many fans actually calling for us to play weaker lineups and only focus on the league. That would have left us without any silverware and an empty heartbreaking season which likely wouldn't have seen us kick on like we've done. Klopp would have been facing into this season still without any silverware, Henderson still not tasted the captain walk to the podium and we would not be enjoying the admiration and respected as the best in the world if we had have got knocked out in QF and not the league either.

There would be no 6th star, no super cup, no world club cup, no top seed ranking for group stage and no chance to win it back to back or reach 3 consecutive finals which is unlikely to happen again too soon. No way can taking arsenals invincible record or city's 100 point record be more rewarding than a 7th European cup, especially at a time where we're genuinely strongly fancied and not just taking a punt as the underdog. What happens if we lost care and exited Europe then lost 1 game and finished on 99 points?

Arsenals so called invincibles drew 13 games that season and won 25. Yes of course that's impressive to not be beaten but to draw 13 games, means they were failing to win once every 3 games.

I don't think that record should be thought of as greater than achieving 30 wins 7 draws with 1 loss and 97 points. Those 2 city seasons were also superior and Chelsea getting 95 points in a season where they only conceded 15 goals and along with us this season I'd place these teams 5 seasons as all more impressive and difficult to achieve than what arsenal did. Even if we lose which is very realistic you'd want to have a narrow mind to think that means we can't be regarded as the best team. People rave about United 99 but they only won 22 games all season while we will likely win our 22nd game in January. They lost more games that season than we have in probably last 3 seasons combined and there tally of 79 points would only ever have won 2 out of the 27 seasons.

That United team are remembered because they won the European cup and the fa cup also yet we have fans who openly show lack of care to both competitions . We're going so strong in the league That we have no reason to not be able to give focus to other major honours which don't even offer an issue in distraction or fatigue that many dramatically think is an issue that could be troublesome.
