Hey Ed's I know we don't like to get in to figures but what I want to know is your opinion on if

Liverpool were to spend big on a (superstar or a few quality players) is this summer the best time to do it because of

The new kit deal
Not spending last summer
Increased tv revenue
And hopefully title winners

Just my curiosity of your thoughts . Not that I think we need a lot mind

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will have additional monies but I would not count on any from the new kit deal just yet. Not spending last summer won't impact anything. I am not sure what increase in television revenue you are referring to - I assume the overseas revenue.

Liverpool are in a position to buy players to improve the squad - there is no doubt about that. But they (hopefully) will not do it simply because money is available.}

Ed002 would you expect a Centre back to replace Lovren and a midfielder to replace Lallana?

I can't see where else we need to strengthen unless there is a shock departure.

{Ed002's Note - And perhaps an AM - much depends on moving on Shaqiri plus any others who decide to move on.}

ed002 after we won the club world cup it is obvious it does not mean a lot it this country but Barcelona and real want to win every time there in it. How much do you thinking winning things like this will help grow the commercial side of the club with world wide sponsors. as you said about the Nike deal I would expect that to take a 6 months to a year to see how that works out. I do think with Salah and Minamino in the squad they must be good for shirt sales in the middle east and Asia.

{Ed002's Note - The CWC is meaningless to Liverpool and will not bring in extra sponsors. If the club are looking to exploit Minamino then they are going in the wrong direction. I would not expect significant additional Salah sales - but obviously there will be lots of kids in Liverpool wanting their parents to buy additional shirts that cannot afford - as they already are with the CWC shirt that is being used to get more money out of the the poor folk.}

Like you say ed I hope we invest wisely and not just because we can .
But I think the best thing the club can do is invest from a position of power and be pro active and not reactive . I would be happy to see a lot of the youngsters given a chance but not at the expense of performance and results

Fingers crossed for rest of the season lads

Cheers.

ed002 I don't think the club signed Minamino to exploit him but he will surely help shirt sales over in the far east. I don't think Klopp would sign players for shirt sales that's not how you get a team playing how we are, after seeing him play against us at Anfield he looked like a Klopp type player and only cemented that in the next game and am sure the club would have watched him a few more times. But I was just wondering more because we are still lacking most of the sides above us in the money league with commercial revenue. And all these preseason tours all over the world that clubs do don't see how they help managers am sure a trip to spain would be a perfect warm weather training camp without all the traveling.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there will be increased shirt sales in Japan - it won't impact the rest of the Far East.}

Won’t FFP have an effect on recruitment? By that I mean that clubs have an obligation to break even over a number of years don’t they (is it 3?) so we can’t exactly wait until a lot of the 27 year old + players need replacing and do it in one go and that would screw up the financial results?

Surely we’ll need to evolve the team over time and spread the incoming of replacement players over a number of years

Or am I way off the mark and overthinking it?

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what your talking about - you perhaps need to forget FFP.}
