China are trying to, and succeeding, blackmail the worlds sporting groups and clubs, businesses and individuals to prevent telling the truth. The NBA nearly had a coronary and went on their knees begging forgiveness after a player showed support for Hong Kong.
Will football follow? You bet.

Ultimately big business cares more about money than about morality, freedom, or anything else which means they will kowtow to China no matter what. There are numerous instances of this, both in and out sport, and whilst China remains rich nothing will change.

People say sport isn't political but I think sports are, generally speaking, cowardly and afraid to actually take a position - no matter how morally justified - that could lose income.
