Glad Doherty was included, he's one heck of a player.

Won’t be long before TAA tops that list ed001, can’t believe how far he has progressed in such a short amount of time, he seems to get better every single game.

Trent number one by a country mile by far mate. Record number of assists by a defender and European champion. Kim much would obviously be number 2 but I think you missed Dave from Chelsea. Just tried spelling his name haha he’s number 3, excellent defender for the last ten years left right and centre in a three. Do more of these mate.

{Ed001's Note - check number 10, I left out Dave Azpilicueta because he has struggled badly to adapt back to right-back through this season.}

Doherty 5th on that list, tearing it up at right wing back in the Premier League, but McCarthy sets up Ireland with a back 4 (despite the personnel we have available favouring a back 5, imo) and picks Coleman.

You'd think I'd be used to this sort of stuff after 10 years of dinosaur managers, but it still grates.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't know Coleman was fit to play?}

Sorry Ed mate I kind of just skipped the first few! You don’t miss a trick do you.

{Ed001's Note - I try not to.}

He played every Euro qualifier in the current campaign apart from the last one because he was suspended. And Doherty scored in that one. I believe Coleman is injured again, though.

{Ed001's Note - yeah that was why Sidibe has been playing. I thought it was longer ago though, but that's because I don't bother with internationals, so lose track of when they take place.}

Thanks ed! Doherty has been immense this season and last, disappointed that Trent wasn't number 1 but can't really argue that kimmich has a more rounded game at the minute.

{Ed001's Note - it was difficult to choose between them. Trent is fantastic, maybe it should have been a 1=?}

Trent for me Ed's. the lad is for me the number 1 full back in world football and will only get better. In a more competitive league by miles and tested more. His passing is superb, when given the chance, so are his free kicks. Needs to add a few more goals to his game per season. but I think every top team would love him. Gladly for us he's a home grown lad and loyal I reckon.
Best in world for me.

Agree about Doherty. Great player. I'd have trent as no1. But also recognise that I could be biased. Especially as I haven't seen the Munich player much.

Why didn't Serge Aurier make the list? Lol just kidding. Saw him and Sissoko play for Spurs in the first half last night -7898 what a calamity!

Hi Ed, great read. I agree with you on Kimmich. He is perfect and lacks nothing offensively and defensively even tho, he is a DM by trade. Same with Hakimi. Brilliant RB who can actually play LB as well. Say, I see you did not mention Pavard from Bayern. What's your take on him?

{Ed001's Note - I like him, a lot, but he is a centre-back learning to be a right back and Kimmich starts ahead of him every time I have seen them, so difficult to judge him.}

I think kimmich is a great RB offensively and it's very rare to find a balanced FB with strong attack and defence abilities but I feel kimmich is quite poor at defending personally and anytime I've watched him he looks vulnerable and far from reliable. I'd have Trent, hakimi, walker and wan bissaka ahead of him in my view as better overall RBs. I think he'd struggle in the premier league and get shown up more often.
