Evening eds.

I think it was ed2 who was scathing of our track record of dealing with loaned players to other teams.

But more recently ed2 had stated things seem to be improving.

The main difference i see is that our u23 players are being sold for good money, after returning from loans. ie Kent, awomyo etc, etc. rather than letting their contracts run down.

I don't know of any who were loaned out and are now 1st team regulars.

Are you able to give us a particuler player you think has been handled better than they would have been 2/ 3 yrs ago. and why.

Cheers all.

{Ed002's Note - Dealing with loanees becoming first team regulars, Liverpool have changed tact and are now looking to buy success - which is why so many youngsters want out. As for loans, Liverpool has gone from having no plans and no structure to at least having a general plan and someone is taking responsiblility for liaison etc.. Liverpool remain far behind many other sides but are improving.}

ed002 you all ways say we are now trying to buy success was we not trying that before? And can you name one of the top prem sides that does not. Are spending compared to city is nowhere near the same but I would not say there is lot in both teams. young players can't get into the first team if nowhere near good enough unless we want to be a mid table team.

{Ed002's Note - Not to the extent the club are doing so now. The question was about Liverpool not other clubs. It is a change of direction that Klopp now embraces as his promise of success using the youngsters was naive and unfulfilled.}

No problem with that.
All top sides try to ‘buy’ success, and Liverpool are less guilty of it than most. Man Utd, City, Real, Barca, Juventus, PSG spend far more than Liverpool.
Chelsea, for instance, have spent way less in recent years and gradually become a much worse team as a result.

{Ed002's Note - The "much worse" Chelsea that were league champions a couple of years ago, that are the current Europa League champions is that? This constant effort by some Liverpool fans to turn everything around to be about other clubs is truly embarrassing. You are making an absolute laughing stock of yourselves yet again.}

Ed 002 out of interest mate what premier league clubs are at the forefront when it comes to loaning players out. As in having their sh#t in one sock and having the best successful structure in place for return?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.}

What is embarrassing is your constant sniping at liverpool. Coming from a Chelsea fan who bought success numerous times. pathetic.

{Ed002's Note - I have never considered myself as a fan. All I did was honestly answer a question. I get constant abuse from vegetable matter like you who are simply not bright enough to understand. If people don't want honest answers they would do a lot better by simply not asking questions.}

from a purely outsiders perspective, I find it difficult to hold chelsea up as a moral counter to any version of Liverpool trying to buy success haha also I'm loving their use of youth this season.

Ed002 🎣 reeling them in again 😂. Don’t ask the questions if you can’t handle the answers.

Yet Liverpool and Klopp bought in 2 youngsters in the whole of the summer transfer window. And not for the 1st time in his tenure, Klopp made a profit in the transfer window. Which to be fair is some achievement for a top side. Who have made 3 European finals in a row. Yes klopp isn't perfect but give the man and club credit! Fsg and Klopp although made some mistakes. Have taken the whole club and structure of the club, training ground, stadium and youth teams to another level.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp did not make a profit, Liverpool did. This was because the youngster are surplus to requirements and many know it and want to move on.}

Chelsea have constantly won cups with no huge gaps over the last 15 years. How are they getting worse now they aren't buying success?

Taurus, it’s quite simple really. Chelsea haven’t been in the semi-finals of the Champions League since 13/ 14 under Mourinho - 5 whole seasons. In the 10 years prior to that following Abramovich’s takeover, they had got to the semi-finals 6 times, and were winning the biggest trophies almost every season.
They still win trophies, but nowhere at the rate they did previously, especially the biggest ones.
No one said they were a bad side - they’re not - but they are unquestionably not the hyper-resilient, powerful brute of a team that they were for 10 years previously.

Thanks ed.

Opened a can of worms i think. Its a buisness and we are now making some money from these players who will never play in our forst team.

We all want to see young players coming through but don't always have the patience, They need time.

Mason Mount doing it for Chelsea, but i wonder would he have that chance if chelsea did not have the transfer ban.

Cheers all.

{Ed002's Note - The plan was always for certain players to be integrated in to the first team squad at Chelsea this season - including Mason Mount. The unexpected opportunity has been for Tammy Abraham.}

Dont we have the same conversation every 2-3 months. Someone ask a question, Ed02 gives his opinion and then someone wil drag Chelsea in the middle and take a dig at Ed02 for liking/ admiring a certain team and how Ed02 hates Liverpool.
Its just like those kids on twitter who have a lot of spare tomes so starts a tread to take a dig at each other.

To be fair to Ed002 he does have a phenomenal knowledge of the game and he has a perfect right to defend Chelsea but on a different TACK he should take care when using sailing metaphors.

Ed02 simply gave a detailed answer to the OP. The youngsters are being sold on because they cannot get past 1st team players who were bought for big money.
Things escalated as certain posters don't like the answers given.
It is irrelevant how much other clubs spend, as Klopp stated he would get success using youngsters. In hindsight I am sure Klopp regrets saying it now, as it was unrealistic given the spending power of his rivals.

LoweFC you said they've become much worse. wouldn't say they've declined massively if they can still win trophies.

I think big clubs could definately operate better with use of loans. Liverpool currently only have origi as such in the first team set up who's been out on loan. Truth is none of our loaned out players have really proved they can play in our system as yet. Grujic I feel if he has a big season may have a future.

Chelseas loan structure over the years has been one that is hard for football fans to see the good side of.
But they have seen the likes of courtois, Christensen, zouma, mount, Abraham, loftus cheek succeed with loan moves to warrant a chance with Chelsea.
United have only really seen Pereira, arsenal with chambers, city and spurs not really using former loan successes in their first team. The likes of foden, Brewster, Greenwood, Hudson odoi, willock are kept in the clubs as deemed good to make it. We've seen rashford, Trent, Gomez, winks, mctominay previously not being considered for loan.

The realistic theme is that most youngsters being let on loan from the top English sides seem to rarely be a part of future plans and if really fancied by the manager then will be not be let out on loan.

Everton have not let Calvert Lewin or Davies leave the squad, Leicester keeping chilwell, Gray, choudrory about in the last few years. West ham with rice, wolves with Gibbs white, longstaff at Newcastle, AWB at palace

Can't think of many clubs which have benefited much from worthwhile loans regarding using them in their current team upon return. Players like Harry Wilson, reiss Nelson, lookman, lukebakio each had productive seasons but still seemed not to be in the teams future plans.

Only Chelsea are using their loaned youngsters, largely due to a pool of 40 on average each year and transfer ban forcing their hand. We've made nice profits from loans being successful but it's hard to think of players we've had back who became a regular. The likes of spearing, wisdom, Flanagan, kelly, ward, karius, Coates, ilori, markovic, borini, ings were never going to have a future with us after being let on loan. The guys like Trent, Gomez, sterling were able to break through only because they were kept, hopefully Brewster can be viewed in that respect also.
Norwich have had players recently like Todd cantwel, james Madison, Ben Godfrey, Jacob and Josh Murphy who all proved to make big progress.

Ed.002.

"Chelsea always planned to integrate youth this season. " Was that plan conceived before or after the transfer ban? If it was before, then is it fair to say that they would have bought a few 1st team players ahead of the youth and they in turn would have spent most of their time on the bench or in league cup games?

Solanke came to Liverpool and didn't get much more. He failed to impress and was moved on.

It's always a risk trying to bed in youngsters because you have to give them time and even then, some fall away for a variety of reasons.

You often say changes are inevitable, such as a European league, isn't this just another inevitable change for any big club wanting success? I have never been a fan of Chelsea but wish Lampard is given a chance. Youth and an English manager being given a chance (even if it was partly forced on them) is what many have called for. We shall all see what happens. I personally would be happy to see some success there (although not at the expense of us! ) and show other clubs that it can work.

I have my doubts and unless they have some form of success, we all know Roman has limited patience.
