Wow, so much wrong with this article in my opinion, i don't know where to start.
Im not pro-FSG, I couldn't really care less about the owners as long as they are funding transfers and adding to our success. But Klopp didn't build the team without them. He wasnt rummaging through his spare change to fund Allisson and VVD purchases. The owners have splashed the cash, regardless of whether they recouped the funds from selling players, they still splashed the cash. Spurs and Newcastle would love to have owners who spent the proceeds of large sales back on the squad.
Fundamentally, FSG are profit-driven businessmen but nothing creates sustained success and profit in a sports team better than success on the playing field. I don't see them as saviours at all, more like partners in a situation where Liverpool fc winning trophies is a win-win for fans, team and owners alike.

Is this satire?

Well that was an over entitled whine. I'm not even going to say no offence is intended, because what you just wrote was utter BS in terms of content.

2nd most expensive keeper in history, most expensive defender in history, front 3 who cost £40m a piece, 5 Midfielders who cost £30-55m and you still moan and question the owners desire to win? FSG are winners and they've repeatedly thrown money at the club even when it was losing £1m a week.

What I will say is it was very well written and even though I disagree with the content, your presentation and writing techniques are brilliant. I'm sure you think my opinion is BS too and I guess that's what makes this site so busy. I can't sugar coat my reply anymore than this though mate. Feel free to bite back. It's what the sites for I guess!

I get where you are coming from but I am going to have to disagree regarding the owners.

Modern football has changed from being about the community around a club into a global money making machine. United were the first in the UK to really take advantage of it and in terms of brand other clubs have been playing catch up since.

In regards to investment, they have spent loads on the team. And yes they have sold but the money has been reinvested.

As for this summer, it has been spent on numerous occasions that the club looked to do business this year, notably cover for LB/ RB and cover up front. Plus potentially a GK if migs left. Migs didn't leave so a GK wasn't required. The young lads, mainly Larouci has convinced the club he can cover LB and up top we have OX/ brewster coming back from injury. Then the players we looked at didn't want to move to us because of no guarantees of first team football.

We all want to see the young lads get a chance, if we keep buying we will prevent them from progressing. Give the lads a chance and if it doesn't work out the club will rectify it as soon as possible.

FSG are not the ones that encourage 'day trippers' to anfield, that is the the size of the club and means we are globally supported.

The way I look at it is this, the club has moved forward since they took over and brought stability to the club, I will admit they have made mistakes along the way but overall I think they have been good owners. Plus we can't blame them for the state of the market, are we really at a stage where we just buy someone for millions and we will all be happy that we have strengthened? I. e. last year we buy fekir or similar for £60m but he gets injured in his first game, we are right back where we started.

I think Klopp has earnt the right to be trusted and if he thinks we can challenge with the tools he has, then, in my opinion, we should trust his judgement.

Thomas are you related to Waro? Maybe you are Waro? Where to begin?

Liverpool has fans visiting Anfield (day trippers you say) long long before FSG took over.

I could pick thru your whole post but I'm enjoying the sunshine in beautiful Belfast in a wee beer garden, but I don't think you are being very neutral about this topic. Have Fsg made mistakes? Loads, too many to mention but the have improved as have the club and the team. For the life of me I have no idea where this has come from.

You need some vitamin D Thomas! Get out, enjoy the sun, come over to Belfast and I'll buy you an exotic drink. Another round of drinks please bar tender 🍹🍹.

That's a tough read.

FSG have spent to their limits pretty much since they first took over the club. With the CL win and tv money, this is probably the first time since then that you could say the club is in a decent financial state, but (breaking the Coutinho fee down to it's actual staggered payments) last season we had a considerable net spend on transfers, and we won the CL out of it. This season, we're giving the same team a chance, and adding a few talented youngsters. If it doesn't go as well as Klopp and FSG hope, then they will again spend to try and win the title.

I have no idea how you can come to the conclusion that FSG are bad for the club or don't deserve some praise as owners. There are no powerhouse clubs who "do it all for the local fans" anymore, as top level football is a global game. They could do more for and in the community, i agree, but they're not destroying it, and the football team is progressing.

9.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 14:14:42
Idiotic nonsense. You say our success is all down to Klopp, who put him in charge? We bought the most expensive goalkeeper (at the time) and defender, and spent well over the odds for Keita but "there's no money". Your digs are pathetic and uneducated.

10.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 14:21:48
I'm sorry but have I missed something the last three years. Salah, Mane, VvD, Allison etc, new stand, Champions of Europe and apparently that's despite FSG not partly because of them? And this is all negated because this gadgey is unhappy his uncle Albert can't sell scarfs on match day anymore. Hard to please some people.

11.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 14:27:43
As alluded to by other replys, I could sit here and pick holes in that nonsense all day long.
But to save time, let's just say I disagree with pretty much every sentence in that article.
You sound very much like the kind of "supporter" who just wants a marquee signing for the sake of a marquee signing. I'm so glad you're not in charge of our club.
Also, referring to players as "deadwood" is massively disrespectful. I should have stopped reading there.

12.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 14:40:20
Funnily enough RedChester I was thinking that myself after I posted, about the deadwood comment that is. Seems the club has far more dead wood supporters than owt else .

02 Aug 2019 14:44:33
I don’t with the general sentiment of the article, but the OP does make some valid points, namely how Klopp is more responsible for our success than FSG. Appointing HIM as our manager is their biggest success yet.
However, the almost nauseating way in which Pearce, Reddy and especially The Redmen TV have become little club poodles can be infuriating at times, and will only lead them to lost fans/ subscribers in the long term.
I fear The Anfield Wrap (my favourite fan content) will go the same way as they get closer to the club.

And COTSI - to you - the OP is not ‘idiotic’, he just has an opinion that doesn’t match yours.

14.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 15:00:13
To be fair, the poster did title the article ‘Just want to have a moan about FSG’ so it was never going to be a well-balanced, objective piece.

15.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 15:24:27
Just adding my disagreement to the article. The essentials have been said by the others. Some of us really suffer with myopia.

17.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 15:05:07
You should befriend some Bolton Wanderers or Bury FC fans on Facebook if you want to understand what its like having bad owners.

I am struggling to agree with anything you have wrote in your article. It sounds like you are trying to start a revolution but the article is more indicative of being a rebel without a cause.

Maybe you should stop reading or listening to what The Redmen, Melissa Reddy or The Echo have to say, which seems to be why you are jumping up and down on the spot and bashing your keyboard in anger.

18.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 15:11:47
What a load of poppycock, excuse the language, I nearly stopped reading when I saw the bit on twitter. TV and prize money no reinvested? Are you for real? I take it you don't have a look through club accounts each season. My god where do you get this crap.

19.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 15:12:08
There always has to be something to moan about even when in great shape. Also what if the club do have players in mind that they want but can't afford them currently so are waiting till next season? Why buy just any player now to fill a void, if we can buy the exact player we want next summer. Things aren't always black and white, plus it also just sounds like your copy pasting from stupid #FSGOUT twitter accounts. Try looking at things neutrally.

20.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 15:36:56
No Thomas just no . FSG have been good owners they've learned on the job and certainly made mistakes along the time namely the £77 tickets, the trademark row that's ongoing and the way they Dalglish was ousted after winning a league cup. The positives outweigh this for me they've employed the Manager of most of our dreams in Klopp and backed him slowly but surely . We now have without a doubt a top 5 club in the world . It doesn't matter to me if it's a LB for £8M or a CB for a world record fee we needed those players to fit into the system we play FSG have backed the manager's vision. FSG also kept they're word on the stadium the main stand in case you haven't been in it is simply stunning inside and out, whether Anfield Road end gets the required update remains to be seen . I'm not panicking over little transfer activity we've got a few long term injuries coming back to the squad and a few youngsters getting nearer the squad .

{Ed025's Note - good post that mate..

Sounds like thomas19 believes that FSG are part of an international capitalist conspiracy to drive a wedge between Liverpool FC and the proletarian supporters who are the only ones who deserve to share in its glories.

Pretty mixed responce ;)

The only part of the article i agreed with was banning the guys from selling scarves. It adds to the match day vibe and i don't see much harm in it. The guys are die hard reds and working class.

But the rest was totally ridiculous. To say klopp is the reason we're getting better is absolutely right, but who do you think pays his massive wages?

We would not have won the champions league without alisson and van djike. Remember the saves and tackles. 30 odd mil for salah seems like a bargain now, but at the time it was a big transfer, as was wjinladum. there's keita, mane, fabhino. Ach, its all been said.

Champions of europe after spending near on 200mil in a year or so, bad owners? Utter rubbish.

(was well written though! )

That's 5 minutes I'll never get back again! You're probably one of those who would moan if we bought Messi this weekend, as you would think he was on the way down! Keeping hold of our top players this summer, by way of bigger contracts, was a big thing for me and can only hold us in good shape for this season, with 2 decent young additions included!

26.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 16:13:27
If you hold Fsg responsible for hiring Kenny and then the disaster that was Brendan Rodgers then you have to give them credit for hiring Mr Klopp, its only fair.

Time for another drink, where's the cocktail menu. I need it to read more of Thomas's masterpiece! Only joking Thomas, we are all entitled to our opinion 👍.

Fsg have also spent £160 million plus on infrastructure, you know redevelopment of stand and new training ground. It's not peanuts is it.

02 Aug 2019 19:22:07
OP, So we're going to do this whole "FSG in/ out" again after all these years and all that we have lived thru over the past 3 seasons? You must be bored. I suggest you go out and get some sun and a couple of cocktails and meet new people. Clearly, you are spectacularly bored.

33.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 23:23:46
I'll informed that it might be, but it's a break from the daily questions of why we are not buying high profile players on one side and we don't need anyone as the youngsters are worldwide on the other side, I personally enjoy reading a different topic for change.

34.) 02 Aug 2019
02 Aug 2019 23:37:33
I read the replies before wasting time on the article, glad I did because now I don’t have to read it 😂
But a lot of the replies are also missing something key. FSG have done a lot more than mentioned here. They pretty much revive Liverpool from a very deep financial grave.

We were on the brink of administration and now look at us, making record profits, able to spend record fees for players, one of the best teams in the world fighting for the prem and back to back Champ league finals with the first being unlucky with the Salah injury and Karius' concussion and screw ups, the second a victory beating some big teams along the way, the list goes on how they have turned us from a dying club to a powerhouse.

And lastly the debt it slowly but surely shrinking. Ok we still have debt but we are no longer a club that has to sell players to basically survive!

35.) 03 Aug 2019
03 Aug 2019 02:53:01
Every reply covers most of this articles bad observations to be fair.

The worst thing is how the whole article is full of contradiction. You moan that they are taking away the identity of the club and only want to market a brand, then moan that they have penny pinched and should be investing more in transfers. We can't invest big money if we can't generate big money, those extra day going fans, those ticket prices, record breaking merchandise sales year after year. all these extra incomes are only helping the club become a force again. You say they penny pinched pre klopp but we were finishing 6th or 7th year after year, no champions league, no appeal to attract top players. They hired klopp a major coup, game him the control and backed him whenever needed. If they don't make any effort to grow the business off the field then we can't be expected to grow on it. It goes hand in hand in today's modern game.

What really irked me though was your point that the identity of Liverpool, the supporters, anfield has been lost. Have you not watched any European games the last 2 seasons? Kiev and Madrid getting flocked by reds spending their life savings, spine tingling anfield nights under lights, our players singing YNWA arm in arm facing the kop. Players and fans together crying with joy. I certainly haven't lost that Liverpool connection.

Opinions are like ****holes everyone's got one but no need to share shi@#y ones. I'd take FSG over the glazers or arsenals mob or spurs lot. Barring liquid gold money I can't see better models out there.
