Wonder if Klopp is not going to opt for Wilson this season instead of signing another forward?

He's not good enough, BUT I'd still keep him for one season as backup. He can certainly score from distance and although he doesn't have much more to his game, that might be just what we need sometimes.

I said that earlier today in a reply to your post mate. I think Wilson must have impressed Klopp personally. I can't see him leaving now and I think he'll start in the Community Shield. Fair play to him if he has changed Klopp's mind this summer. We'll see!

Well I am all for giving Wilson a chance. Does look like he knows where the goal is, what a strike!

As you say Plain Bread, we will see.

Next up City, bring it on!

I still think he might get a transfer next week as clubs throw all plans out the window and panic buy. Think Lallana may be another who gets a last minute move.

I think he’s worth a go. I’d rather give the lad a chance to show what he can do that panic buy and get mugged off in France for someone who isn’t any better. If he grabs one like that against Norwich on the first day, that would do loads for his confidence.

I hope that encourages someone to buy him if I'm honest.

I haven't seen Wilson play, so cannot comment on his ability. But I can say that our style of play revolves around quick turnover of possession, clever interplay in the opposition third, and being at the right place at the right time to slot the ball into the net. Alternatively, we score from swashbuckling and clinical counterattacks. We don't rely on players shooting from distance. In fact shooting from distance unsettles our play. We should never use players who are better at shooting from distance than they are at creating chances in the opposition box.

Coutinho was a fantastic player but even his ability to score from distance was ultimately creating issues that he would take too many shots on. We should stick to what works i. e. clever players like our front 3 who cause havoc in the opposition area.

Scoring from distance is not even a plan B. We often wear the opposition down in the last 10 minutes and score. If we start shooting from 30 yards out after 75 minutes it will only cause us to draw and lose more games.

WYRed, Lallana's going nowhere. Looks like a completely new and revitalised player in the deeper role.

Lol@ irish rover.

He is being played as a forward and has scored as many as origi in pre season (i think) i say give him a go this season. I know we shouldn't judge players on "youtube" moments, byt what a moment. Best long range goal i've seen for a while. If klopp can get him working harder to win the ball back then i can see a great player in the making. he's a long way off but there are many top pros who can't hit a shot like that. Also, if his crossing can be as accurate, what an asset that would be.

Robbie
Wilson is 22 years old, he needs to be playing regularly. He won't get that at Liverpool. Only when he plays more often for a good team, then he might improve. I wish him well if he does move on.

hhanif005 long range thunderb*st*rds are just part if his game. He is quick with the ball at his feet, he’s good with this ball in tight situations in and around the box, I think he’d work well in our system given the chance. The thing he’s got against him is that he’s not got a flash foreign sounding name and doesn’t cost millions of pounds. I’d rather give him a go than spaff stupid money in the last throes of the transfer window on the likes of Cornet or Kamano,

Hope not, not at the level we need.

6Times thanks for that description. I agree that if he can play effectively in the way we play, then keeping him is much better than any cornettos (even on a sunny day) . I just don't think we should rely on such individual brilliance because it signifies that our plan A doesn't work.

Harry Wilson is only good when he has the ball. When he doesn't, he is a passenger and in a Klopp system, what you do with the ball is just as important as what you do when you don't have it. And btw, being able to score screamers should be a bonus in a player's bag of tricks, nothing more.
