Not related to LFC but also not specific to any club so posting here- hope it's okay.

Do Eds or others know what recourse or disciplinary powers do clubs have if a player decides to go AWOL or in cases of gross misconduct? We have recently seen high profile players like Griezman and Neymar not showing up for training, throwing tantrums etc. What can clubs do to fine them? Is a fine limited to their salaries? What about the circa EUR 220m fees PSG paid to Neymar to terminate his contract with Barcelona? If players' behaviour leads to decline in value can the club sue it's players for losses?

We keep hearing of all kinds of behavioural issues with players. Drugs use and smoking, partying ahead of games, PR issues, criminal behaviour etc. Really curious whether clubs have any protection on their assets and financial liabilities.

{Ed002's Note - In terms of fines, in England a maximum of two weeks wages. And players can of course be sacked.}

it seems as though players are doing this much more, laurent koscielny the most recent player to refuse to join training.

do you think we are going to see a bigger trend of players using these kind of tactics to get moves, or has it always been around.

{Ed002's Note - I hope not - many Premier League clubs have suffered from this blight.}

Didn't Chelsea sack Adrian Mutu for failing a drugs test for cocaine, and then sued him to reclaim his transfer fee from him?

I don't know the outcome of the case, but I seem to remember something along those lines.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Chelsea have sacked a number of players for seriously misbehaving.}
