pre season begins tomorrow for the European Champions. I hope we bring at least one player in to compete with the first team, I just think with everyone else spending, standing still probably isn't a good idea.

We will sign players.

How is not spending any money standing still? We have a number of players that barely played last season for various reasons and a bunch of kids who get a chance to show what they can do. We will be better than last season even if we do nothing in the transfer market.

Exactly Thunderbird. We're still bedding in Keita, the Ox has to come back and we're hoping Brewster can make the next step up. Combine that with natural improvement across a fairly young squad and we're in great shape.

I'd like a signing, but the notion that we're "standing still" if we don't is ridiculous. The club will buy a player if they see value, its what they've done the last couple years and they have a great record. Buying for the sake of it often means you're not financially ready to commit when a better player comes along.

We only have to look at history to see not spending is standing still. You cannot bring kids through and expect to win anything with them. Even if they are highly rated and will be as back up or but parts. You ask Alan Hansen.

If you think not buying anyone isn't standing still then your deluded and an FSG apologist.

Now that the club aren't buying anyone, yet, its FSG to blame?

I wonder how much more they need to do.

Eamon's point is spot-on. I believe the club do want a few more, maybe they aren't available? So what else the club can do? Drag them into the club?

Didn't take long for the "FSG apologist" rubbish to reappear. And all because the manager won't sign anyone. Idiots.

good to see you back Waro, shame to see you're still spouting on about FSG.

Waro, spurs didn't spend a penny last season and they made it to the champions league final . Their best achievement ever.

Hundreds of millions spent and a champions league won and 'fans' still throw around terms like "FSG apologist". If you can't grasp how a team can improve without spending then you should google the term "coaching" and "football basics", you're in for a fun surprise.

If the club see value they'll buy. If not, they won't. Thank god internet 'fans' aren't on the transfer committee, we'd be in administration.

You always look to improve the team even when you are on top, that is how you stay there. If you don't then you are standing still as your rivals invest to catch you up.
The transfer window is not closed yet anyway but I am sure Liverpool are working discreetly to sign the players Klopp wants.
Waro takes some criticism on here but he is absolutely right about investing in the squad to keep improving. Not sure I agree with his FSG apologist comment though, maybe he can elaborate further.

The fact that Spurs fluked their way to the Final after losing 20 games last season cannot justify spending no money.
We have one left back, no cover for the front three, and we miss a creative midfielder. This is the best team we've had in years, and the best position financially, don't stand still and wait for Salah to leave next season end up going back 5 years like when Suarez left.

Absolute rubbish being spouted on here. The window is not shut yet. Nobody knows who the club are trying to sign. Same as last May nobody knew a thing about Fabinho until it was done. If on the 10th of August there's still no signings then start your whining.

I've said what I think of FSG multiple times on here greenflash and it just causes headaches for people so I won't go into it again, you've seen the reaction to the small comment I made above, you cannot criticise or challenge anything to do with Liverpool because they're all vying for the role of number one fan, I mean someone just said hundreds of millions spent and again don't balance that comment with hundreds of millions that were taken in meaning those millions could be spent.

I'll try and break this down into logic. If team A wins the league from team B because of a better and bigger squad depth, and also win two other trophies you would say team A was better than team B? Fast forward to the next season team A buy more quality to add to a fantastic squad they already have (possibly 3 quality signings) and team B go with what they have meaning team A's squad depth is now even bigger and better than team B's, what would that say using logic about the destination of the title the following season? Dissect all the other nonsense you may want to spout about coaching etc. and just use basic logic, you cannot and will not finish above team A thinking logically.

I agree with much of what you say Waro, but the right players must be available as buying for the sake of it is a mistake. Furthermore, nobody should ever use Spurs Champions league final place as a shining example of why Liverpool do not need to invest in the squad. Spurs have gone backwards.
