Hi Ed,
Thanks for the review as always.
Obviously it’s way too early to assess, but did Xabi Alonso strike you as someone who was destined to be a coach upon retirement?
How far do you think he could go?

{Ed001's Note - he played like a coach on the pitch, so yes, he is a very smart bloke and could go as far as he wants. It really depends on how much he wants it.}

Christ, Milan Baros still knocking about. Always liked him, not gifted but certainly a trier!

Haha, Raiola you Muppet. Yes Neymar and Griezmann have conducted themselves with decorum and honour also. :)

If Klopp does see out his contract and take a break, by the time 2022 rolls around. Xabi could be potentially be in the frame to replace him.

Sorry i know that's miles off and is nothing but sentiment but it's still a nice thought.

I know it's romantic tosh but I'd love to have seen Xabi back at LFC to start his coaching career, get back to the old boot room days. I'm such a dreamer.

Ed001 - do you think the Spanish system of having B teams in their league structure potentially adds an advantage to their coaches and in some respect players due to the more competitive nature of the games they will be involved in? Also do the B team coaches tend to get greater leeway in terms of results?

I guess in the UK structure it would be extremely hard to implement due to the number of professional teams and I appreciate there are a greater number of teams to coach/ play for however that's why I asked about leeway on results as it seems a small number of poor results/ performances or the need to achieve results can mean coaches/ players do not always get the opportunity to develop.

{Ed001's Note - no, it has destroyed their league and led to the extremely uncompetitive state it is left in. It is a terrible system that only helps 2 or 3 clubs in Spain and would be a disaster in England.}

I met his brother in the stand in Madrid, decent bloke, said Xavi still loves Liverpool.

{Ed001's Note - he regularly goes to Anfield to catch a game.}
