Eds as we know Chelsea have a transfer ban for this and the next window, however, I was wondering what happens to players like Ake at Bournemouth who Chelsea have first refusal on if he is being sold. So say Liverpool wanted to sign Ake this summer, would Chelsea have to surrender their first refusal option or could they sign him in the same manner that we signed Naby Keita from Leipzig?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea would not do what Liverpool did with Keita as it adds to the cost too much, but in theory, if the player and his club agree, then they could do that with a number of players they have options on. Right now they have no plans to do anything like that and are busy taking stock and thinning out the ranks.}

15 years of buying success, it’ll be interesting to see how Chelsea perform.

You don't think Liverpool have tried to buy success Drogie?

Drogie, every big club always tries to buy success. After all, how do you explain the 100's of millions of pounds and euros being spent by top clubs ever summer and/ or winter?

I don’t know what your point is lads? Chelsea hadn’t won a league title for 50 years pre 2004. So my point is, I’m intrigued to see how they get on with the transfer ban

I’ve been following the Reds since the early 80’s and have seen football change through the early 90’ with the birth of the premier league so I know exactly what clubs have been spending

You think spending big to achieve success is recent thing? Think again.

Dont read the papers, did they break the financial rules? (cant remember what its called) big news. that's a massive blow for them.

Grabbing for straws here. Could city be found guilty of the same thing?

Shame. Ake is woeful, would be great going up against chelsea with him in the back 3/ 4.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with financial rules although Liverpool are one of the other English sides guilty of the same infraction. Manchester City's issue is very different.}

Or you could translate that from media/ paper talk to football language

Every big club tries to improve their squad and add quality every summer/ winter so they can challenge for trophies.

Except spurs, who challenged for the Champions league without much spending. If you think your squad is good enough (or if you're building a new stadium) then that's cool. And i think our squad is good enough, won't be stressed at all if we don't sign anybody. If we do, then great. But were not weak in any area. The group seem to have a proper togerherness, the heart break of losing a champions league final, and then making another, against all odds, and winning it! Its been brilliant for us fans seeing the football our boys play, since klopp came in. But having not won anything since the league cup has always hung above us like a black cloud. Now that's gone, and they've won the big one. that's massive for us but more so for the players, its their proffesion. If we can beat Barcelona 4 0, we can beat anyone. And we had injuries to big players. Keita, Aoc, gomez.

Brilliant post, Robbie. I mean, what a way to break your trophy dock as a club, some of the players who have won nothing prior to joining us (Bobbie for example) and of course, with Klopp mas manager, by not just winning trophy but winning the biggest trophy in club football.

Every club try to buy success, it's how rich the club are who are branded " trying to buy success "
