Everybody listen up, the Eds have continously repeated themselves that there will be no 'big' sinings unless 1st team starters leave.

Anyone thinking that Bruno Fernandes is on his way need to smell the coffee.

If one of Firmino, Salah and Mane had to leave then only will the club go out smack bang on another inflated signing.

Fernandes will not sign for Liverpool playing second fiddle to our current front 3. Why is this so difficult to understand?

01 Jul 2019 19:02:04
What's that on your nose mate ;)

2.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 19:02:08
Max. Not being funny lad but you do know Bruno can play in a midfield 3 so Salah mane or firmino would not have to leave and Bruno could actually start in the same team as all 3. Not saying that he is coming by the way just saying he can sign and we don't have to lose anybody.

3.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 19:05:15
Not for one second do I think Fernandes will sign but what makes you think he will play second fiddle to the midfield 3?

4.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 19:07:26
Max, you are shooting in the dark. No matter how accurate your post is and how many times the Ed's say what they say (exactly what you have reitirated), the howlers and moaners won't stop asking the same redundant questions. For some of them, they just can't help it. For me, I'm chill and enjoying the summer with my lovely wife and beautiful boys.

5.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 19:38:26
Max, Fernandes plays central midfield and scored 31 goals in 50 appearances last season. It’s been discussed on here many a time that when the front three aren’t firing on all cylinders, we’d like to see more goals from midfield.

To me, a signing like Fernandes makes total sense, especially when you have an injury prone Lallana on the books.

6.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 19:50:40
You and me both RedWolf, tbh I couldn't give a damn about the transfer window, it's barely entered my mind to be honest. We have a great squad, anybody extra is welcome and that's all I'll say on it but I do feel for the Eds, having to answer the same old BS day in day out, I couldn't do it so a massive thank you to the Eds for your patience.

7.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 20:21:46
Spot on, Salah. I don't know how the Ed's hold their nerve answering the same useless questions that have been answered over and over and over again.

8.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 20:29:28
And then those who think we will be signing Bruno Fernandes do not think properly when we have in midfield with AOX, Shaqiri, Hendo, Keita, Lallana, let alone Gini and Fabinho.

And please, I am sure many will read this too, Coutinho will not be returning to Liverpool. END OF.

9.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 20:44:14
Fernandes has three things that all of those midfielders listed lack, an ability to score goals, an ability to pick a pass and an ability to take a dead ball, he can play number 8 or number 10 in a midfield three, we lacked goals and creativity in midfield and paid for it against City, Everton, West Ham, Everton and United which is why we fell short. We may not sign Fernandes but to suggest we don't need a spark of creativity in midfield is blinkered beyond belief.

10.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 20:53:18
Nobody said anything about needing an attacking midfielder 6times. Take your blinkers off and see that the Liverpool squad is fully loaded in midfield.

Bit ironic what you say about goals from midfield when the Liverpool squad pretty much matched City's goal tally this past season plus we did pretty well goal scoring wise in the CL too.

Moan moan moan.

11.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 20:58:33
Can’t disagree with that 6times.

Well said 6Times.

13.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 22:07:26
Don’t forget that the Copa America and Afcon are on-going, and Liverpool may have to act if something went awry with the players away there.

14.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 22:20:55
1 - doesn't mean that fans can't ask
2 - doesn't mean that the eds know everything that happens the second it happens (Fabinho anyone? )
3 - you ask more questions that anyone lol :p.

15.) 01 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 23:01:28
Max, the Eds have said numerous times that Liverpool are looking for a forward/ attack minded player this summer. So any of us expecting that kind of player are thinking properly, as you put it. The Eds' have told us there is interest in Cornet and that previously Brandt would have been a good option.
So even if we are fully loaded in midfield Klopp feels we need something extra. You just never know with transfers, last season we ended up with Alison and Fabinho and I was suprised by both.

16.) 02 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 23:15:44
6times, we won the champions league and finished on 97pts this season. Easily the most any team has got without winning the league and more than Utd have ever got throughout their dominance of the premier league yet I still have to listen to people saying we are short of this that or the other.

Then you list games where that has cost us. Says who? And who’s to say that if we sacrificed one of our normal midfield 3 for Fernandes it wouldn’t have cost us in other games with the reduction in stability in the midfield?
We have a brilliant team who just had a brilliant season I really think we’ll cope without these fabled ‘goals from midfield’.

I don’t necessarily think we won’t make any big signings either Max. I have faith that if the right player becomes available the club will do all they can to get him but it’s not a necessity. There’s no pressure on us to massively improve the squad so let’s just relax and see what happens.

17.) 02 Jul 2019
01 Jul 2019 23:57:16
Thanks for the post Max, things on here were getting a bit boring :)

18.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 00:34:31
Just bit concerned that we weren't good enough to win the league last season so without bringing new players into the squad how do we expect to push on from last season.

19.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 01:09:43
Klopp4pm, I think it's unfair to judge us as "not good enough" to win it last year. It was a freak season with City pipping us. Can we expect them to play much better or can we expect to play better? Only time will tell of course, but you take last years team and add in a fit again (hopefully) Ox, Gomez (hopefully) getting a full season, Keita (hopefully) hitting form and maybe the emergence of Brewster. Add to that the fact Fabinho only got going halfway through the season and to question us not being good enough (we did win big ears remember) is a bit rough.

20.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 04:08:04
Max i’m sure nearly LFC fan at some point has said we need more creativity and goals from midfield.

All the midfielders we have besides the Ox, Lallana (injury prone) and Keita (hasn’t hit the ground running) are workhorses and do an amazing job at hunting the ball down and retaining possession, but they aren't creative or get many goals.

we rely on the front 3 to score most of the goals and our wide players (Trent, robbo, Salah, mane) for most of the assists.

Van dijk outscored everybody in our midfield last season, except Milner but that’s only because he takes penalties.
Van Dijk was also on par with Henderson for assists and only 1 behind Milner. Whilst matching keita fabinho and gini combined.

If that doesn't tell you we need a creative goalscoring midfielder nothing will.

Personally i’m hoping the Ox can stay injury free because he could be that midfielder. 2017/ 18 he was joint 2nd on assists with Bobby and Mane lol
we all wanted Fekir for a reason and unfortunately the alternative we got in Shaqiri doesn't seem to have the attitude to play the way Klopp wants every time he is called on.

{Ed001's Note - you really do not understand stats nor how Liverpool play. Those midfielders are creative and allow the goals to be racked up by being workhorse who win the ball back early while the opposition is committed to an attack. The nonsense about van Dijk, who played more games than anyone else, outscoring our midfield is ridiculous. He is forward at every setpiece and he played more games than any of them, he should outscore them.}

21.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 06:26:53
Ed is right the midfield 3 work their socks off and that's why they are rotated so much. Trent and Robbo created so many assist because of the midfield 3.

22.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 08:53:14
Liverpool v Man City 0-0
Chelsea v Liverpool 1-1
Arsenal v Liverpool 1-1
Leicester v Liverpool 1-1
West Ham v Liverpool 1-1
Man United v Liverpool 0-0
Everton v Liverpool 0-0

What do these games all have in common? Our front three were shut out or were not firing on all cylinders. So we needed a goal from elsewhere, which it didn’t come as we literally have no creativity in midfield to change things a little. We were second best last season and will probably still be second best again if we stand still and don’t address it. We have do not have one midfielder that can pull off a bit of magic to open up a tight defence, or who can score a goal from nothing. That’s why City win tight games and we get draws.

23.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 06:30:30
Hi Ed001. I think everyone is getting hung on the fact we. Must sign Fernandes or Pépé or Fekir for some reason mate. I can see both sides of the debate. What will be will be I guess.

24.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 06:58:03
My apologies ed1 I do understand how we play and the role the midfielders take and that stats don’t show everything - prime example being lallana against Burnley for Mane's Goal but no stat will show his contribution - and yes, that type of midfield works brilliant against teams that do come at us at times or teams who try to play out from the back.
But those who don’t attack us or just launch the ball forward, the midfield are kind of being wasted because they don’t have that eye for a pass through/ over a wall of players and only the Ox and Lallana seem to have the ability/ confidence to just run straight at/ through the wall of players.
Not going to lie, I loved it last season when Matip went on his mad runs, because it’s what was needed sometimes. it’s just scary because he’s a cb and left a gaping hole in doing so xD

Dont get me wrong, towards the end of the season Hendo started playing to his best and he was picking out passes for fun and I hope he keeps that up in the coming season and if the Ox and Lallana can stay fit, then they will be that extra dimension we need

And I was supposed to remove the part about Van Dijk's goals since he is a beast in the air for set pieces and up for every one of them, but his assists I wanted to keep. He has amazing vision and can pick out any pass and that is something I do believe we need in a midfielder as well.

{Ed001's Note - have you actually watched our midfielders play? Both Henderson and Fabinho, in particular, can play those passes. Keita can make the runs, as can Ox. Also the reason why our full-backs get so many assists is because that is what we look to when teams sit back, they get forward and get the ball into dangerous areas.}

25.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 07:43:47
Ed001. I don't agree with your response to ogred Phil. Just because the midfield 3 work hard that's enough? Don't get me wrong even if we do sign a Fernandes for arguments sake I think klopp in the big games will always go back to a midfield 3 of fabinho hendo and wini/ milner as he can trust them to keep the shape and work hard as you pointed out and rightly so. Bernardo Silva is a perfect example of someone who works his socks off and also scores and creates. He played 21 games in centre of midfield last season scoring 5 goals and creating 7 assists so both can be done. As much as I do love fabinho Henderson and wini we do miss that spark in certain games and that for me is the only position we need to strghten this year along with cover for lb. I also don't agree with you saying vvd should be outscoring or creating more assists than the midfield but hey he is the best in the business so that's one thing we will agree on mate.

{Ed001's Note - I am not going to waste my time because you clearly do not understand what is written the first time so I won't explain again because you are completely missing the point.}

26.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 10:25:00
Always great to get some actual football insight from fans on what the team is doing wrong and who we should sign. I look forwards to you guys taking over from Klopp and Liverpool securing the treble.

The manager and board will buy if they see value. The whining from some parts of the fanbase is exhausting. We won the champions league and barely got pipped for the league. You could just as easily make the argument that a new signing would ruin the teams chemistry as improve it. I personally would like a signing but the idea that "We'll go backwards or standstill without one" is madness. We still have to bed in Ox, Keita and Brewster. It's a young squad that will improve naturally. People need to get a grip.

27.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 11:38:37
Ok ed001. Fair enough mate. I understand the game to a good level but if you don't want to have a discussion that's fine. In many peoples opinions no cb should be outscoring or creating more assists than a midfielder. I have nothing against fabinho ( I called and people can read through my posts for him to be signed 12 months before he came) Henderson or wini and have already said in the big games klopp would always revert back to those three but in the games where teams sit back a player with that bit of magic like a Bernardo Silva, David Silva, fekir for example get you the win instead of a draw.

{Ed001's Note - opinions are all well and good but they are out of context if they are just saying that a cb should outscore a midfielder with no account taken of games played or the way the team plays. Anyone who just thinks that clearly does not understand the modern game. How many goals and assists did Makalele get? If any centre-back that goes forward for setpieces got less than him, I would be speaking to them about what they are doing on those setpieces.

It also helps that van Dijk played more games than any other outfield player, a lot more than most of our midfield which was rotated even when there were no injuries. Or is that not relevant to you?

If you want to take 'many people's opinions' as truth, then you are just a sheep and it is a pointless conversation as most people are morons with an inability to do anything but follow the herd on social media. That is why the world is in such a state. I will stick for thinking for myself and analysing things my way and coming to my own conclusions.

You haven't even taken into account Shaqiri, isn't that what he is for? And Keita and Ox can drive with the ball at opponents, which is what we most lacked last season. The Silvas are not just about pretty passing, it is because they run at opponents with the ball and draw people out of position before they pass that they are dangerous. If they just sat on the outskirts and picked out passes they would offer very little.}

28.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 12:08:27
Ed001. I'm not having a go mate. I take the makalele point on board. what a marvelous player by the way. I'm not saying every midfield player should get 10 goals+ 10 assists a season. Obviously that's not realistic as much as we would all love it. I just think we lack sometimes when we play 3 grafters in midfield and obviously that's not a nice term they do have more to there game but for me I think and probably a lot of others do that we need someone in the 3 like a Fernandes/ fekir for example that can to use a term that does be thrown around unlock defences. Ox for me was what the Silva's are before he got injured prime example his goals against man city both running with the ball. I also like keita but massive improvement is needed by him in my opinion and shaqiri has also done well at times. Do you think we should just stick with what we have an not improve ed. I think we have an amazing squad but it never hurts to add a fresh face.

{Ed001's Note - you always have to look to improve, but I also think what we have is good enough and better than people realise. They will also have the added freedom of Fabinho from the start of the season. They will get more chances to score, as Wijnaldum showed in the second half of the season. Though Henderson really does need to work on his finishing!}

29.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 12:14:51
Bang on ed01. We also have the players should klopp want to change it up 4 1 3 2 or 4 2 3 1. I think we're best at 4 3 3, with 3 hard working, technically sound midfielders behind our quick intelligent forwards.

You need goals from your CBs, its something we really lacked before Van Dijke came. I remember us getting corners and knowing we wouldn't score. I think it was salah's first season or the one before. We never scored from corners. All the very best title winning teams have CBs who get 5 - 10 a season. And we paid 75 million pounds for him btw. Of course we want goals from him.

30.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 12:19:08
Cheers ed001. Agree with fabinho being here from the start and having a full season under his belt should do wonders. I'm a huge fan of his. I'm hoping the ox can be what we are all looking for. Really like him and I'll admit I wasn't keen when we were signing him but he has changed my mind. Ps. I'm not on any social media ed. Forgot to say it in my last post I think it's poison to be honest.

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't meaning you were on social media, I was trying to point out how the opinion of many is usually wrong. Social media is just the easiest example.}

31.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 13:23:35
6 times, i'll tell you what ll those games have in common. we created chances and didn't score enough of them. it happens, that's football. the worlds best scoring forwards and midfielders have those days. of course we can strengthen but usually it comes at a cost, a more attack minded player will usually mean a slightly lesser effective player at defending. very few can do it all.

32.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 13:39:52
i’m not on social media either, I got sick of all the snowflakes of the world and how sad it has become that we have to be so careful what we say because if 1 person gets upset it turns into a full on avalanche -. -

Anyway, ed1 I did mention Henderson started picking out passes for fun towards the end of the season, after Fabinho settled anyway and I hope he can keep that up, and improve next season.
Also I mentioned that the Ox is the type of player who makes the runs i’m talking about.
If he stays fit and his knee doesn't set him back, he'll add that missing something again. Was very impressed with his 2 cameos because he instantly changed the dimension of the game for us even after only just coming back from such a long injury and I can’t wait to see him play again.
There was an article about him the other day which made me laugh, because it was basically saying that Liverpool fans are over hyping him after a year of him not playing but they obviously didn’t see him the season before xD

Not convinced on Keita yet as I didn’t watch him in Germany, YouTube videos don't show the whole picture and he hasn’t hit the ground running quite yet but he did show flashes of the player he can be. Hopefully this coming season he can show us the player a lot of people expected when he signed :)

My opinions are my own from watching most of our games, I always go over to my dads to watch us play and *cough*stream games that aren't show live over here*cough* and probably my most unpopular opinion (his too) on a player from watching most games is that i’m not convinced by Widjnaldum.
Don’t get me wrong he is a fantastic player, when he turns up. But his consistency is an issue for me and for the following 2 seasons he seems to find consistency for the last 2-3 months making everybody forget all the games he goes missing, because he does play very very well.
There has been many a game that he’s been subbed off or around the 70th minute his name has been mentioned or he has lost possession and honestly I have sat there and me and my dad have both asked "wait, when did he come on? "

Again that is my opinion and I know most people won’t see it that way. I might miss things or it could be that we have mostly attacked down the opposite side to him since he tends to be on the right side of the midfield 3, such as if Trent didn’t play, was having a poor game or we found a weakness to exploit on the left so robbo became our outlet against 11 man defences.

Apologies for the long az replies. I have a problem with shortening things >_>.

Lol this is golden. Many may think I'm up ed1s arse because I wish him a good day daily (BTW Ed, I don't think I did today so hope you have a great day mate! ) anyway, come on lol this fella has more knowledge about football than the lot of us combined, why even try to argue against him? You'll fail every single time.

Opinions are opinions and facts are facts and I think you'll find the majority of the time Ed1 speaks facts or atleast stuff that makes sense unlike the majority of us lot, me included. Respect for somebody as knowledgeable as that man is needed, show it more. He doesn't know his info from fresh air, he clearly researches it and has done for years.

Theres been times in situations like this where Ed1 has destroyed me, why? Because I was wrong and he knew more which was pretty damn evident. Knowledge is power, respect it and accept we may all be wrong at times, it happens.

Interesting thread, nobody likes to be wrong but it is what it is. We move on and learn from it, take it in and be more clued up. This is no dig at anybody BTW just respect the person who REALLY knows his sh*t.

All said and done; i trust klopp. People were slating him last season, after the window. Saying he went against his "philosophy" of not having to spend a fortune. He brought in Alisson, Fabhino, Keita and Shaqiri for around 170mil. And spent a similar amount the season before on Salah, Van Djike, Robbo and Aoc (140-50) And look what he has done. We were a team in decline, not even making the europa league.
He brought in some great bargains, got us into the champions league, the first time for a while and we made the final! (which i honestly think we would have won if salah had not been injured, everything he hit went in! )
Then we got 97 points which is title winning level. We pushed city to the last game. A wonder strike from Kompany turned out to be the difference.

He signed Robertson and we were underwhelmed. Now he is one of the best left backs in the league if not Europe.
He brought in the ox, we were underwhelmed. He was amazing that season. His goals against city and his link up play with salah made him an instant hit with us fans.
Even Salah, we were not overwhelmed, 4th choice signing. And then he goes and breaks all the records for liverpool strikers. And we have had some f#####g good strikers: Rush, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez.

The man knows what he's doing.

City have endless wealth and can get just about whoever they want. They have the best facilities etc. 17/ 18 they blew everyone away (except us) had won the league before xmas. But now we can go toe to toe with them, they were scared when they came to Anfield, played a very defencive game and got the draw they came for.

For the first window in a long long time we can relax, we have a brilliant team, capable of getting 97 points and lifting the European Cup.

I don't think we'll do anything to be honest. Couple of youth players maybe in the hope the can be backup a few games during the season. New deals for existing players as well but I think we're happy enough with the squad.

37.) 02 Jul 2019
02 Jul 2019 16:39:37
Spot on Ed. It baffles me that people can’t see it. We were unbelievable last season with the personnel we have because they suit our system. Yet stick a goal scoring midfielder in and we’ll never lose another game it seems.
If only football were that simple.

Well you can relax with the wife and kids on the run in next year because we won't be in touching distance of city and I think one may come out of the pack and go past us, but you won't question the club for not spending this summer because de derra you are superfan with the ability with one finger to swat aside anyone who dares to question the mighty empire LIVERPOOL FC and it's evil leader Darth Henry, keep this post (if it gets shown) until may next year to prove me wrong, but it won't be shown again then because we'll be nowhere near the top of the league if we go with what we have FACT.

Maybe an fa cup and top 4 is what we'll achieve, but hey the balance sheet will be the envy of the premier League and we will become the new spurs and people will say how well we've done considering we've spent no money. I really can't wait.
