“Liverpool? They've won so much from the Champions League, from the money from the federation and their sponsors that they can buy two Koulibalys. It would be a disaster for the others, having to find a way to go through that defence” - Everton’s Italian scout Carlo Jacomuzzi.

They both prefer the left side though. It's be a huge risk to spend over £100m on a player just hoping he'd adapt seemlessly to a new position. Left and right centre back is very different positionally and playing an unfamiliar side requires a player to ignore all their natural instincts positionally. Very few players can play both sides well. Carragher's ability to do so was never fully appreciated.

I personally would think it idiotic to spend 100mil on CB when we clearly have much bigger priorities.

Gomez’s potential is huge. If we’re intending a big splash it needs to be on a Fernandes/ Fekir type signing.

Where does that figure come from? Is that just plucked out of the air? As 002 says, stay clear of finances because if Liverpool spend big money, rest assured it’s not done without due consideration.

And if that's the level of football knowledge in Everton's scouting department, then we've nothing to worry about!

The world is panicking for how good this young Liverpool team could get. Although I wouldn't buy "the wall from Senegal", I would however spend big on an elite Player whilst we are at the top. We're not always in this position to do so.

{Ed002's Note - The "world" is not panicking.}

Rather we keep our current CB options intact and instead focus on cover and competition four full backs. The team lacks spark when either TAA or Robbo are not on the pitch.
