Interested in people's thoughts as to how Liverpool should approach the final. My own view is to go aggressive rather than a more balanced approach.

I feel like Tottenham are a very dangerous side and like to press and put sides under pressure, so if we play it too casual there's a risk we lose the upper hand and just give them encouragement. Their players are likely to feel underdogs and like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity so if we let them get their confidence we could make things much harder for ourselves than we should.

I'd like to see us go hard after them from the first whistle and let them know who's boss and try make sure they don't have time to breath. Press high and hard and try to get the first goal early like we did vs Barcelona.

My tactics would be to go smash them. Run like nutters for 90 mins and give Spurs no respite while playing the skillful type of game we've played all season. Most players have a nice holiday after the final so no excuses for not putting in maximum effort. After the final whistle, Id like to see the Liverpool players shatered yet ecstatic.

Personally I’m slightly apprehensive if the match descends to a Championship play-off -style slug fest. A de luxe version of the Leeds v Derby game the other night is what we don’t need really but it’s probably going to happen at some point.
Two English teams and all that.
I’d rather a more controlled game, play Gomez at CB (tough on Matip, I know) and a high line, controlled press out of possession, keep our heads and don’t tear arse around everywhere like headless chickens.

OP if you know anything about LFC under Klopp, you would know that we always start big games fast and intense right from the first whistle. All you have to do is watch all our big games this season esp. at Anfield as well as the Barcelona game to know this. Even vs Spurs at Anfield, we started the exact same way and rocked them in that first half.

Also, remember when we played Madrid last season in Kiev, we had them on the rack for the first 25 minutes (they couldn't get out of their own half) until Salah was targeted by Ramos IMO (I say that cos he targeted Karius as well and got him concussed), and injured him.

Therefore to your point, I am certain that we will come out flying out of the traps vs Spurs cos it is simply who we are. We do not play any differently. Also, we are capable of playing high tempo football AND keeping things under control hence, controlled chaos if you like. This is what Klopp implemented at the start of the season to get us to the point of winning the PL and making the CL final and win it. So don't fret, our boys will be super-prepared for this huge task cos Spurs are NO slouches. Cheers, my friend.

Spurs have an incredibly fit team too don’t they? I agree with the approach suggested but they may be able to keep up with ha a little more than others can. On another note Goodluck to Watford today hoping for a Troy Deeney hatrick.

The thing with spurs is they are capable of running all day the break will of done them good.

I wouldn’t change anything for the final, play like we’ve played 90% of the season.

In sport a good mantra is “do what your opponent least wants you to do”. So on that basis Spurs have been complaining about fatigue and mental exhaustion. That will be ramped up 10x in the final, their legs will feel like lead when they go on that pitch.
So in agreement with the others, I would play high intensity football, I would get shots on goal early whilst nerves are jangling.
This is their first final, this is our second (with this squad) . We are wiser this time.

If we play to our potential then we will win.

We should play with intensity coupled with discipline.

It would have been a bit of a concern last season but our team has grown this season.

It is a final and anything can happen but so long as we have a fit Bobby Sadio and Mo up front then I am pretty confident that we will get number 6.

If we do get number 6 it will be an interesting debate as to whether we or Citeh had the better season.

Scouse john LB, and our team aren't super fit and can't run for all day? Or the break would not do us any good but would do them good? I don't understand the thought behind your post.

Agree with Juicer personally, don't just go out all guns blazing, look to control the game and work the chances. We have a lot of different outlets attacking wise and we have a capable defence. We could go all out, get hit on the counter, and be a goal down early - it's a Champions League final, I think the same approach we had last year (before Salah got Judo thrown), controlled attacking play, is the way forward.
