Ed if we were to win the CL and a 2nd place prem finish would Salah realise he can fulfil his dreams with us and not want to move, or is it not about that really?

{Ed002's Note - He wants to play elsewhere but for a couple of reasons cannot get the move he wants - so he is stuck at Liverpool.}

Stop asking the same qestion every single day.

PS: reading about the couple of reasons again and again just makes me curious more what the heck is happening behind closed doors.

Not asking the same questions Mart, don’t no why you’ve said that tbh such a strange reply and a reply looking to cause a reaction? Try to add something positive to the site and not pull me up for asking Ed a question.

I don't know anything, but it seems that it is more that he just wants to play for one of the Spanish sides, RM or Barca. Not that he's unhappy at Liverpool, but just prefers Spain. I could be way off though.

{Ed001's Note - I would suggest it is money personally.}

I know this will be unpopular.

Im a little worried aboit salah and the cl final. Many times this year he has gone for goal when a clear pass was the better option. He is going to want to be the shining star in madrid and i hope he makes the right decisions. On the other hand he could score a hattrick.

When i watch him play and celebrate to the fans, he doesn't look like an unhappy player who wants to leave.

Stuck at liverpool, cl finalist, top 5 team in the world, maybe top 3, maybe no1 (2 finals? ) poor mo salah.

A new contract will probably change his ambitions at the club I would imagine.

Great points all the way through that post Robbiesline.

Salah is probably very egotistical and rates himself far higher than he actually, this is also a cultural mindset within arabs and therefore belives that anyone but Barcelona or RM are of a lesser tier club.
And of course with Barcelona or RM comes more money and so called prestige.

The facts are that he had success in Italy but that was not seen as highly due to the state, style and quality of the Italian league.
He now has had tremendous successes at Liverpool but has not realised that that is down to the quality of the league but most importantly the style of football the club plays as well as having an excellent manager and far better quality team mates than at Roma.
Since he has not taken this in to consideration, he thinks it is all him and nothing but him.

This is simmilar to Coutinho as it was our style that accomidated him and let him flurish. In some ways he was a luxury player for us and you see that only now he is not here and see how well we still play without hima and sometimes even much better without him.

However, look at Coutinho now at Barca, he is in a difficult place and can be who he thought he was.

It is this lesson that Salah needs to take and learn from to see that the grass is not always greener on other side.

Even if he goes to Barcelona or RM then what is he really going to achieve winning La Liga in a 1 or possibly 2 horse race?
He might as well go PSG.
These clubs are all in transition and they will take time before they seriously compete again, maybe 1 or 2 years, by which time Salah will be 29/ 30 towards the end of his career.

I would have thought as a football player, you would want to create a legacy and history for yourself.

Michael Owen was a prime example of this mistake, left liverpool for RM and in that same season we win the UCL. Then Owen goes om a merry go round of clubs after RM, all amounting to nothing.
Before you say anything, collecting medals from the bench or the treatment table does not hold any credibility in a debate.

Top post Red Kurd. If I could have given you more than 1 thumbs up I would.
We see this time and time again where the coach, system, etc makes a very good player seem even better. When these players move to a new environment it isn't as easy as before when the club is set up around you.
LFC make stars and when one leaves another will be made.

Brill post red kurd.

Ciutinho was never going to be a loss imo. Yes we have not scored many from outside the box this year and that was his main contribution.

A year before he left I started accumulating his performance scores and as predicted he was piss poor a lot of the time, scored a great goal some of the time and got all the plaudite. some of the time he was out of this world and it was not forgotten for 10 games.

I prefer a 7 out of 10 player any day of the week over coutinho.

Your point about salah are valid but he is a player we will find extremely difficult to replace.

We will probably have to change our style and formation to accommodate a replacement.

So imo if it's about money, let's pay it. He has earnt it.

Brommers I think one of the issues we have at LFC is we fear losing one of the main players, whereas Barcelona or RM just don't mind and they will happily offload a player like Coutinho whereas we were panicking.
The difference is they have invested heavily at the begining and gambled that that would get them success, which it has and they then use that success to attract replacements and that success keeps going.

Our issue is we need to hit a consistant period and a sustained period of success and that would have to include trophies and titles.

If you read ED02 notes or replies on the City page, you can see that City are following the same mould as Barcelona and RM as this season they are prepared to let go a few players (perhaps not out of their own choice as a club) whom we would consider big names, such as Mahrez Sane and perhaps Jesus etc.

The key to our succes is getting trophies, this then will make domestic (British) players aspire to play for LFC, which will allow us to build a solid foundation eg types such as Henderson, Gomez, Milner, TAA, Robertson and then the key world players may follow and from there create that perpetual cycle of success.

This is one of the reasons why I really want us to win a trophie this year and one of my pet hates of Klopp not taking the domestic cups seriously at all times and always playing with the strongest teams he has.

Red Kurd,
Salah wants to go to Madrid or Barca, he is not exactly the first one that wants to go there nor will he be the last . How far do you want to go back, Ronaldo was wining the league year after year with Untied, still he made sure he gets his move to Madrid, Henry at Arsenal winning (some) trophies, did n't sign a new contract so he can go to Barcelona . Same argument were had about Suarez and many many more . none of these players are Arabs.

And yes, they want Madrid or Barcelona, because of the prestige and weather, Coutinho already won few medals with them, Madrid the only club that won CL 3 years in a row, 13 CL titles, more than double those in second place. Them with Barcelona still top 2 clubs in the world, and Liverpool need to start winning things before they start be counted . Holland of the late 70s were great, but hardly anyone remember them, because they won jack.

Ravi123 I agree with your view and you are right it most likely is about money but I do wonder if we do give him the money, how long before his ego and desire kicks in and he wants to leave for RM or Barca.
Also will this set a prescednet for him and others, just like I read every year almost that Messi gets a new contract or rleztension with even more money than previous one.

We actually do not need a Messi - look at Braca they are forced to play everything through Messi with no real plan B, all because they have fed that ego over and over agin and now have a monster on their hands thet they can not dare to retire!
When Messi retires then what will they do? They will have to change their style and restart from deep down.
It was a complete team performance that beat Barcelona without our "tslisman" salah.

Roy your points are very true.
Though you have to keep in mind that players of Spanish or Portuguese culut will always want to play for Barcelona or RM, just the same as British players want to play for their favourte team.

Also do keep in mind that at least Barcelona major successes have been in the last 10/ 15 years with regards to UCL. Prior to that they only had 1 or 2, at most UCL.

The other thing in both Barcelona and RM have had a big advantage due to football being pushed more and more glowbally.
This has helped them seem they are more successfull and more powerfull than reality, a but like creating a myth.

We can also create that myth globally by winning titles and trophies.

Good reply red kurd. you're bang on. He seemed a little embarrased not to be in a liverpool tracksuit during the barceloan celebrations. I know he wasnt in the squad but other players who werent, lallana for example, he had a liverpool training top on. Mo didnt.

I dunno, i find it hard to belueve any first team player would want to leave liverpool right now.
