Sturridge, put some bloody effort in man. Embarrassing. We've stuck by you while you claim a ridiculous wage and you when you do play it's like you don't want to.

{Ed025's Note - i think his time is done max..

Completely agree, swear a lot look at him hoping to see the DS of 5-6 years ago, but will never be unfortunately.

Good review ed. What’s your take on Rondon maybe a good player for us to sign give us a different dimension could easily see Salah and Mane running on to his flick ons
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - as a back up he would good yes.}

Oh god yeah only as back up to our front three. One thing that is evident is how much Firmino is missed so so under rated
Up the pool.

On one hand, I feel sorry for Sturridge that he physically unable to do some of the things he used to be able to do. Must be hard to take.

On the other hand, he hasn't been injured this season (first time ever? ), and his technique is as good as any player in England currently. He's hit a few brilliant passes in games this season, when he's actually bothered to try. He could adapt into being a good false 9 despite his pace being gone, but he isn't putting any effort in.

"Yeah, I can't run really really fast anymore, so I won't run at all. " seems to be his attitude. He's strolling about in games like Balotelli on a particularly disinterested day, and when he does get the ball, he takes 14 touches to do what requires 2 touches.

Lallana's been injured as much as Sturridge in the last 2 years, but, as he proved in the fleeting couple of appearances he made a month ago before getting another injury, he's still prepared to dig in and put in some effort when he can get on the pitch. Sturridge isn't.

rondon would be perfect.

sturridge returned under Brendan, scored instantly against west ham, played a little more and then they went ahead with an operation on were they thought they had found the chase of all his injury problems, over in America.

he returned and klopp was the boss. he started in November, played one game and then cited an injury. klopp blasted him for feigning.

the game were we saw the pace was gone and he had a wierd run, was in the final against Seville when he was pulling out of sprints, this was put down to worrying about an injury but it's always been that his pace had gone.

he's not saving energy or lazy how he plays now, he has no pace and doesn't have the ability to operate to a high level without it.

Nice read, Ed. It was panic at the disco at Newcastle last night. We were for the most part, disjointed in our passing, movement and shape. Add to that some players did not have a good game like Hendo, Lovs, Wiji and the known felon (football-wise) known as Studge, it would always be a tough night esp. vs a Newcastle team who were more than up for it and credit to Rafa and the players for such a good showing in front of their fans. Either way at this point of the season, 3 points are all that matter as that will help the boys prepare well for their date with destiny, perhaps. Up Da Freaking Reds!

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

Eds1 why do you think klopp has played studge over div in the last two games. Just seems the strangest decision ever.

{Ed001's Note - because Divvy never performs when on from the start but is fantastic to have to come off the bench.}

The performance of Robertson was so good
I felt if we had 10 more Robertson I had replaced
All the players (except GK) with him.

It was a mess at the back, at front and in middle.
The only player with sense was our Left back.

with that performance from sturridge ed001, it might be time to give origi the chance to start, assuming firmino and/ or salah is not available for the 2nd leg against barcelona.

were going to need fighters for that match to climb from a 3 nil deficit, and from the little i've seen from him this season, id say origi's a fighter who gives his all.

{Ed001's Note - but Origi is perfect to come off the bench, he never performs from the start. We need to look elsewhere, such as Shaqiri.}

If we do play Sturridge in the next couple games, I'd like to aee ua compliment his strengths arond the box. I understand we miss heaps etc but it seems counter-intuitive starting a limited Sturridge and expect him to perform like Bobby.

he played some nice passes and had chances around the box. I juat think it might be an idea to in a way make Mane and Salah (or whoever) be his legs and free Sturridge to be a playmaker in the final third.

In some ways I do feel sorry for Sturridge he will surely look back at his career with some regret what a player he could have been especially in this team but it’s disgraceful how he bottles challenges that are even 60-40 in his favour. The Wolves game was shocking as was Klopps decision to put him on against Utd to replace Bobby where he was equally as bad, I wouldn’t start him again.

I thought Lovren's rating was generous. I can't believe the number of times he goes to make a challenge and ends up out of the game. He doesn't have to win the ball every time but he should at least gave himself another chance to defend. And when he's in possession he usually puts someone else under more pressure than he was.
Sturridge, well. When I saw Shaqiri coming on I was amazed that it wasn't for him. He's being played out of hope rather than anything else.

Thank you for that Ed, but I think the rating for Sturridge was too kind really.

{Ed001's Note - probably but he did do a couple of good things so that had to bump up his score.}

i kind of figured that the back heel was worth a point or two to get him out of the negative. Have a great day.

When I see sturridge play it reminds me of Owen talking about the last years of his career when he knew couldn't sprint anymore or he'd pull something so he used to hide in positions where he wouldn't have to make those runs etc. his body has gone and so is his mind.
