While I don’t agree with all your assessments of the individual players, I think your overall conclusion is spot on. Good read that Seano.

A great read that Seano, the effort is appreciated, may I suggest you give player ratings as well in future ones?

Thank you mate.

Seano’s review mentions Klopp’s positive changes from the bench. Here’s a fact for those who continually question Klopp’s use of substitutes - Liverpool substitutes have scored 12 PL goals this season, more than any other team. Just saying.

Biggest thing lovren was guilty of last night was trying to win every ball. He and van dijk needed to drop back 5 yards and have Fabinho sitting in front of Rondon. Should Lovren/ Vvd or klopp be making that call, who knows. But doing that would have totally changed the way Newcastle attacked. You could see plainly from the first 10 minutes we needed to do that and we simply never reacted to it. Other than that it felt like two very good sides having a right old go of it.

You didn't mention that it was Sturridge's clever back heel to Trent that made the second goal. I agree, he's not what he used to be, nowhere near, but just give him credit for that piece of skill.

Lovs did not play well and that I can accept. As for the first goal, Ed01 and many of us have said that the constant back passes to Allison will be a problem if the defenders kept doing it. And finally, it happened. Now not only did Lovs pass the ball back under pressure, he rocketed it towards Allison and the Newcastle forwards saw that and swarmed all over him and then, we give the ball up, we are all at sea and the mayhem ensues. The the goal comes. Klopp NEEDS to address this situation immediately cos it completely does my head in when the defenders keep shirking their responsibilities. When in doubt, get it out and assess the situation later.

The only thing I will add is the rubbish tackle for Milner was a cynical foul and had to do it at the time. He could have actually stopped a goal from happening there even though it didn’t look great.

Thanks for all the positive responses, just a response to a few of the comments:

@Salah - cheers mate. Reason I don't add ratings is the Ed does that for all his reviews and I think, in terms of assessment, the Ed is much more thorough. I prefer just describing the performance of a player as I saw it, I find ratings difficult to give and would be either way too generous or way too harsh.

@Epic Potato - that is true but, in that circumstance, he could basically do nothing else. On top of that it was probably his only decent contribution and I think, compared to the quality of Trent's delivery, was quite small fry.

@Redwolf - I can only agree, the players have become too reliant on him and it is putting both Alisson, and the defence, under pressure. They need to be smarter with their usage of the ball and braver with their decision making.

@Longthing76 - I think you're probably right about this, I do remember that it was an attempt to break up play as they were attacking with a lof of gusto. Will say though that Milner's tackling was a bit ropey from the moment he came on, he can perform better in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - I don't blame you for not doing ratings, they are hard to do. I usually spend my time changing the numbers constantly as I rethink them.}

@Seano_ I agree that it was the only good thing he did all game. In fact when I saw the lineup, I was one of the first to post about my dismay of Sturridge starting.

But, the game was won by one goal and he was a part of one goal. I just think that it should be recognised. And this is coming from someone who doesn't want Studge anywhere near the first team again.

Studge is finished and has been finished for the past few years now. Him scoring a goal or a worldie here and there or once in a blue moon, will NOT change this fact.

Agreed Ed, I mean unless someone has an absolute blinder, or absolute shocker, I find it really difficult to decide on a rating for anyone thus I don't bother anymore. They are popular though and do provide talking points so I can see why posters like them. I like them too so long as I'm not the one actually assigned said ratings.

Just read your review Ed, very good as usual. I perhaps need to go back and watch Robertson as I thought he was poor but yourself, as well as a number of media outlets, said he did well. Perhaps I was overly critical.

{Ed001's Note - his deliver was what let him down.}
