I was out having a smoke last night, and just thought all of a sudden "We were in the Champions League Final last season, and now we're playing Barcelona in the Semi's! ". That's a level that not many teams are reaching at the moment, it's been a wild ride this season, I've loved it.

Great post, and fully agree Rugby Parker. We are the only team to reach CL semis last year and this year. Exciting times, and if we can keep our core the only way forward is upwards!

I honestly enjoyed last season more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining and am still loving being a red plus think the team and Klopp are amazing. I just preferred the football we played last year more.
Yes, we are much closer in the league now but we tore teams to bits last year. We could be 4-5 up in 30 mins but this season is much more controlled.
I fully understand the change in philosophy though.

Brommers we've scored 84 goals this season with 2 games to go, our total last season after38 games was 84, only difference this year is we've shipped about half as many goals.

Walter I know just how your boss feels, he has my deepest sympathy.

It’s quite amazing to look through my the posts and see how people are coping with the emotions of this season. Personally, I think this is ten times the season last season was. For one simple reason, we are competing.

In a way i agree brommers. At the start of our season i was thinking "what has happened to our heavy metal football" but i don't think vvd is a heavy metal guy, i imagine chilled reggae or hip hop.

But although we weren't battering teams 5 0 every week, we also weren't conceding. And if you think back to last season. Many games we NEEDED to score 4 goals because a 2 0 lead NEVER felt comfortable. We collapsed too much. That changed when van dijke arrived. It is even more solid now we have a world class gk and top class (dare i say world class) full backs.

Im happier to win more games and our football has still been far from dull. We are like a Rolls Royce now, where last season we were a porsch, likely to spin off but beutiful to behold. Rolls' look pretty great too though eh, its that silverware on the bonnet!

Much prefer this season to last where we got absolutely tonked by Man City and Spurs.
1 league defeat all season and over 90 points is a remarkable achievement and we have a goal difference which is only narrowly behind Man City.

We’re more of a team this season, last season was more ‘kamikaze football’.

Brommers, the football we were playing last season was a detriment to the players physical condition and it showed at the tail end of the season as the boys were shattered. The football we played was good for the neutrals and some of our fans BUT not for our chances of actually winning something. There was NO way on earth we would have kept up with City playing like we did last season. NO WAY. I am not interested if football styles that give you NO chance of winning things.

Therefore, I love the way we play now. We can win in SO many diff. ways that teams can't deal with us cos we have so many ways to skin a cat. Last season, we only had one way of playing and if that did not work, we would struggle to win games. I mean, LFC was the only team I knew who would score 3 goals and you STILL did not know if we would win. Sorry bro, BUT I'll take this team and this style than the one last season, all day long.
