Liverpool premier league legends, how many are there? A few are obvious ones

Gerrard
Fowler

Then it becomes like a wedding guest list, if you pick a player then you have to choose others. Like picking Carra, means Hyppia and then Agger. It is very hard to complete a list and I guess the number is around 10. Players we should consider please.

Dalglish is my number one but there's too many to list.

Clemence, Hansen, Souness, Rush, Barnes, Fowler, Gerrard, Hyypia, Hunt, Beardsley.
Too many to list, of modern day who will be in that list? for me Firmino, Salah, VVD, Alisson, these lads will be talked about years from now imo.

{Ed001's Note - Premier League legends?}

I’d say carra for sure, but not agger, whilst he was great, he did not stay fit long enough.

In terms of quality, Torres and Alonso in recent years, but they didn’t stay too long. Bobby Alisson Robertson, Trent, mane salah and vvd have potential to be, need a few more years though.

Milner is a premier league legend in my eyes, maybe not a Liverpool one mind, youngest goal scorer at one time, top ten appearances and assists.

Ah my bad, I missed the Premier league bit lol.

Firmane it is not easy. What about Garcia? Gary Mac?

5.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 10:49:05
We could end up with more legends from this current team than we have had in the whole premier league era.

{Ed025's Note - if you get 2 mark thats more than you have had in the last 29 years mate..

6.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 10:51:20
What defines a legend? No one in the current team can be classed as a legend as they haven't actually achieved anything yet. That could change in a month's time obviously. But what about the whole CL 2005 winning squad? Technically the only PL LFC players to win a major trophy.

{Ed025's Note - well theres gerrard stuie.....and thats it im afraid mate..

7.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 11:12:28
Classic Ed025 but a little harsh. Not Fowler or Carra?

Carra was awesome in that final and won other trophies too. Body on the line in the semi and final. If we go with your statement it means Everton and most other premier league sides have zero.

What about Baines?

{Ed025's Note - robbie and jamie were very good players for liverpool mark, but they hardly come under a "legends" banner mate, everton and most other teams are the same barring chelsea arsenal and utd who have actually won the prem i feel..

8.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 11:42:13
I take your point, but I used to go to the matches then and from 17 Fowler was about our best player. A local lad who I loved going to watch.

Fowler has to be on my list. I grew up watching these players so am biased so Carra and Hypia also make my list.

It is a very subjective thing. At Sunderland Kevin Phillips would be a legend to their fans I imagine.

{Ed025's Note - i might actually give you robbie mark, he was one of my favourites too being a local lad, jamie is from bootle so in my book it does,nt even qualify him as a scouser mate.. :)

Depends on what makes a legend.
You’ve either got to win major trophy’s for me or be genuinely world class and break records or win player of the year awards etc.
So Champs league winning squad and the squad that won the treble back in 2000.
Outside of that? I don’t think so. Let’s see what the current crop manage.

10.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 11:57:26
Kyrgiakos has got to be there along with Klavan and Coates.

Kyrgiakos has got to be there along with Klavan and Coates.

{Ed025's Note - were looking for legends..not bellends ST.. :)

Mikey I struggled to get ed to give me Fowler so I doubt very much he will give us Traore. :)

13.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 12:18:23
Stuie boy has got it spot on again.

Premier league legends for Liverpool?
My starting point would be all those involved in the champions league win of 2005.

Then I would include anyone who has won the league and played in the premier league for us - Barnes, Rush.

Next I’d look at other iconic players and only Fowler would be a definite and possibly Gary Mac.

Good question though 👍.

Don’t think I’ve disagreed with you before Ed025 but I do now. Every club have their legends of the premier League. I count Fowler, Carra, Gerrard, Hyppia just to name a few as LFC PL legends even though they never won it. I’m sure you consider Everton to have some as well. You don’t have to have won it to be a club legend. Would you consider Mahrez or drinkwater as Leicester legends. Le tissier is a saints legend, Philips- Sunderland, shearer- Newcastle etc. None of them won it. Shearer I know won it with Blackburn btw but he is called a Newcastle legend. Love your banter, sacarsm and smart arse replies btw 25.

{Ed025's Note - i just think "legend" is a step too far doohamlet, all good players of course but i think it detracts from the players like kenny, souness, hansen etc who were real legends, just my opinion of course and no not 1 everton player could be classed as a legend in the premier league era because just like the reds they have not done enough to earn the status of "legend", i suppose its just how you look at it mate and how tinted your glasses are at the time..

15.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 12:50:26
I thought about Jan, Rush, Barnes etc but they were better before the PL. Dudeck was a legend in the final not sure all the squad are legends though, Kewell etc.

I loved Rob Jones I reckon that guy could well have been a legend.

16.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 12:50:40
Reina has to be in there for me. Wasn’t a fan of how things ended but he was a great player for the red men.

17.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 13:28:26
Gerrard fowler and carra for me.

Barnes rush and brucie have automatic legend status before the prem started.

Gerrard is obvious.

Carra had over 700 games for liverpool and i think any club would have that as an automatic legend application approved. Plus he was part of the magic in 2005.
(mini legend status for alll those involved that night)

Fowler for me was a legend after about 3 seasons such was my love for the guy. My favourite liverpool player. You don't have the given title god and not be a legend. I scored too many goals pretending to be fowler for me not to argue his legend status.

On a side note liverpool need another young striker breaking through. One we can call our own through and through. Rush. Fowler. Owen (despite the ending owen was great before the injuries) . After a few false dawns im keeping my fingers crossed that brewster can fill those boots. Even if he might not totally fit into the through and through part. The kid looks a great prospect.

18.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 13:37:30
If the question is "Premier League Legends who played for Liverpool", i'd have to say it's only Gerrard, Carra and (at a squeeze) Fowler, as he didn't fulfil his true potential.

If the question is "Liverpool Legends who played in the Premier League", then add all the 2005 team.

19.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 13:43:12
From the PL era of this millennium, I would go with the following:
Gerrard, Fowler, Alonso, Torres, Suarez, Hyypia, Carr’s. Although not sure we can call them all legends, but the first three for sure.

Interested to hear thoughts on the other end of spectrum - who would make your bellends list? From recent memory I would go for - Roy Hodgson (not a player but still tops the list), Ngog, Konchesky, Djimi T, Voronin.

20.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 14:06:54
If you exaggerate how good a player was, then you could call any player a legend.
Jamie Carragher is the perfect example of this.
If you where to ask how many world class players we have had, you would get a different set of players.
Example, Lovren called himself world class, because he played in The Champions League and World Cup finals. What a Legend!

21.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 14:09:05
Klopping, unfair to tarnish them with that brush. If you were an average player and Liverpool came in for you, would you say, "sorry, I don't think I'm good enough" and turn it down?

22.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 14:50:25
Stevie maybe the only through legend in that he wouldve got in every other 1st 11 for a good decade or so, and he won some big trophys with us. Virgil will become one. and if Salah wins the golden boot again next year he'd have to be up there.

23.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 14:57:05
Haha Ed I find it insulting when people from bootle and Huyton call us Wirral boys wools. We’re the originals mate we was there before the pool and you nicked our accent 😉.

{Ed025's Note - dont start all that lark lerchy, the border runs from the river up to county rd and as wide as garston (even though most of them marry their sisters), the rest are prowsters (pretend scousers) mate.. :)

24.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 16:16:33
I would say Gerrard only because of his ability and his length of service and Carra also because he was also a one man club also but definitely not on his footballing ability lol.

25.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 16:31:35
Ed025, for the record, despite my poster’s name (I live on the Wirral) I was born and brought up in Dovecot. Please tell me I can legitimately call myself a Scouser!

{Ed025's Note - yeah your a scouser WW, but coming from dovecot you will be seen like the mad aunt that nobody in the family talk about.. :)

26.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 16:54:31
Ed025, you are too near to the truth for comfort there mate. Dovecot Divvy would be nearer the truth as a moniker but nowhere near as impressive as Wirral Wonder.
Many, many years ago in the days of the “footie special” trains to away games, I alighted from the train at Broadgreen Station and was regaled with shouts of “Woollyback’ from those staying on until Lime Street. Scarred me for life mate. I am so relieved that you have confirmed my status as a Scouser.
Scouse by birth, Red by the grace of a God.

{Ed025's Note - its unusual actually to find a scouser who is a red WW so well done there, maybe you had a norwegian milkman back in the day mate?.. :)

27.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 17:14:18
I always thought wools were from saint helens and us birkenheaders are jedis? Love the banter Ed as much as o know I ain’t a scouser I still love the city and the baby’s mate. My old flat used to overlook the city so it’s hard not to love it. Trying to explain to a southerner where the Wirral is is a nightmare. I once told a guy I support tranmere and his response was you must be a proper scouser then 😂.

{Ed025's Note - no lerchy, history tells us that people from the wirral are welsh folk who could not swim far enough to become proper scousers, a lot of them are good people but you would not want them living this side mate as they tend to be a bit snooty and wash their hands even if they have only had a pee mate.. :)

28.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 17:40:23
Ed025, as my arl fella used to say “Everton er for tapere, sønn”.

{Ed025's Note - i wish i knew what that meant mate..

29.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 17:48:06
Haha Ed I take it you ain’t never been to Birkenhead or seacombe. Washing anything seems to be a cardinal sin.

{Ed025's Note - love it lerchy..

30.) 30 Apr 2019
30 Apr 2019 19:44:56
Good question!

Gerrard
Fowler
Alonso
Mascherano
Hypia
Dudek (for that save)
Owen (yeah, yeah, he went to utd but we loved ince when he came to us. Owen is one of the biggest players to come out of liverpool in the Premier league era.
Torres
Carragher
Kewell (maybe)
Lucas (100%) should have been top of the list!
Reina (i guess)
Cisse

Everone who was in that champions league team, bar traore, nah eff it, djimi too are liverpool legends. You lift big ears and that's legendary status.

So then id say
Henchoz
Luis garcia and any others i've forgotton, babbel (rb)

Kewell mascherano and cisse? 🤣.
