If we were in any doubt before we should not be now, this Liverpool team and for that matter squad is being built to last and keep knocking off 90 points a season for the next 5 to 10 years. It's a young team. Now City can go toe to toe but a lot of thier core star players are in thier early 30s now and will not be able to do this season in and season out for many more to come. If they survive this FFP probe now, then replacing the likes of Fernandinho, Aguero, Silva, Kompany will not be cheap and they will need to tread carefully. This is something special we are building here and it will take others a while to get up to where we will be, this could be like the 70s and 80s all over again, only with internet and not as many industrial strikes.

I see where you are coming from but unless we win something big would Salah and Mane not look elsewhere like Juve r Madrid etc.

getting a bit carried away folks. sorry to be a down buzz, but no club in the prem consistently collects 90 points a season. . .

we are in a great shout and a great position to challenge in coming seasons. let's not be prisoners of the moment! do ya rekon we'll have firmino, mane and salah either here for the next 5 seasons and / or injury free for that stretch? who knows, point is each year is different and it would be totally natural for the team to plateau in the next year or two. just enjoying where we are at the moment and the progress the club are making.

Ive a funny feeling that the owners of Man City will have a creative accountant capable of transcending the FFP system. All above board, of course.

You are correct, Faith. It is now up to us to debunk that narrative and get it done.

If we don't win trophies then players will move on. They will not want to look back at their career with the thought of what they could have won. British players are the only ones that hang around.

As long as we keep this squad together and bit by bit bring in the players that suit Klopps way and compliment our current first team then we will continue to go from strength to strength and will compete for trophies every year. However if we were to sell Allison, Vvd, Mo or Mane then it could be 2 steps forward 2 steps back.

There's a big difference between five and ten years.

For the first time in quite a time, I feel if we sell any of our big players, klopp will have adequate replacements as I feel the way he plays is what brings them to the next level. A bigger worry would be if and when teams discover how to counter our play successfully, what could happen. Whether or not klopp is already thinking ahead is another thing. Whether or not klopp stays could be another matter as well though I think he will stay for another few seasons provided we continue to compete. Regardless, I’m having a riotous blast at the moment watching this season unfold.

Firstly I am aware there is a difference between 5 and 10 years, it was five years the last time I used my fingers to count thanks for the maths lesson. The reason I said that is because not everyone in the sqaud is the same age . If players want to leave they will, but for the first time in a generation this club is in a position to not only compete with other giants but best them when it comes to signing players. All sporting dynasties are built slowly, The Patriots are such a good model for a giant of a sports team that keeps winning but does it the right way. I am aware that ultimately winning trophies is important, but look at United, Jose won two in his first season with basically the team they have now and that didn't work out to well in the end so winning things one season is not neccessarily going to make you be successful the next, it's more than trophies it's about a project and for the first time in such a long time this does not feel like a false dawn. Bigger stadium, top players, a manager that actually gets it, be negative and huff and puff about what isn't but the what is is really exciting right now.
