How do you guys, eds and reds think pipco will be recieved at anfield? Will he be booed or will he be cheered.

I know its unpopular, but id love him to come back. Everyone said we became a better team last season as we didn't just give him the ball. But he played half the season, and was excellent.

He knows the team, the city, the manager and the club and his kids are scoucers.

{Ed001's Note - was he really excellent? I don't remember that at all.}

In europe ed01, he was class. Check the youtube highlights of his goals and assists. He scored about 7 before he left.

Didnt he score that free kick that went under the utd wall as they jumped?

{Ed001's Note - we played in domestic competition as well. Though he was often 'injured' then.}

But do you think he will be booed ed01?

{Ed001's Note - I hope not.}

I certainly wouldn't be cheering him, put it that way.
The season he left, in the run up to January he was a distraction and the "injury" situation is something I'll never forget in him. He was most definitely not excellent.
When you compare the fan's reaction and the attitude of the player in the case of someone like Babel, say, this will be worlds apart.

Robbie, I think you and some of us remember Cou's time here very differently. Our front three have been CONSISTENTLY excellent. Cou has never been consistent at in his performances.

Europe? I remember the europa final against Seville and Coutinho never even showed up, completely anonymous in that game and didn’t affect the game one jot.

He’s gone he’s not coming back and we are doing far better without him.

At that time and place I always thought of him as the "main man". Sometimes he delivered and sometimes he didn't. But the team has definitely moved on and in a much better and qualitatively higher level. Bringing him back in, would mean filling in a creative offensive need. But we would be sacrificing a lot of our defensive ability in midfield. Just repeating what has already been said on here many times. I'd rather bring in someone else.

Not sure he was excellent, he feigned a back injury but was fine to play for Brazil and looked like he was sulking when he did play his final games for us.
I only recall him cutting in from the left and shooting from 25 yards all the time, and ignoring players in a better position in that final half season.
Based on that he will likely get a mixed reception at best.

On his day, Coutinho was a little magician for us, he had some of the best passing ability in the league at the time, plus he improved a lot under us. Most noticably his shooting improved an awful lot while he was with us. I remember him scuffing a lot of shots when he first came here, then he was scoring worldies 2 seasons later.

However, I wouldn't exactly want him back at Liverpool, we've moved on in a way which means we wouldn't be able to facilitate his play style.

If hesthat good then why would Barcelona want rid of him.

Suarez - respectful
Couts - boos
Messi - make a song for him! Maybe he will decrease his level then? I hope he doesn't turn up like roma. coz if he does. well good luck to us.

Maybe I'm wrong, but my expectation the crowd will react positively to Suarez. Therefore, I assume Coutinho will receive at least a neutral reaction, if not a positive one. If he'd joined, let's say PSG, (or if he goes on to join another English club) and we were playing them, maybe he'd be booed then, but I cannot imagine that many will be mean spirited enough to boo Coutinho but applaud Suarez in the one match.

That'd all be fine, except we boo Sterling. Isn't really fair in my book to boo him but not the Barcelona boys. Whilst Sterling's agent didn't conduct himself well, neither did Rodgers (iirc, he started mouthing off in the media about how Sterling was getting a great deal and should sign before Ward or Sterling said a thing) and that I know of, Sterling didn't refuse to train or play.

As for how Coutinho would be received if he returned (which he won't), if he were to score goals and play well for us we'd forgive very quickly. Football is fundamentally fickle like that.

Don't understand why Suarez should be respected and Coutinho get boos.

I am not a fan of either for the way they disrespected the club and the fans, but believe we should show class, give them a polite round of applause and then whistle and jeer the whole Barcelona team for the 90 mins.

Suarez and Coutinho should get good receptions at Anfield like all ex-players, in my opinion.

I don’t like the way either left but we must rise above it.
They should both get applause but that’s all.
We must show respect for those who have served the club but we must also show the lads who play for us at the moment that they get a massive reception by comparison.

{Ed001's Note - I agree with you Ron, and think the same about Sterling as well. No ex-player should get anything other than applause before a game and then we should all concentrate on getting behind our team during the match.}

Sterling is the one who gets dogs abuse yet was one of the only big names to leave who i thought left correctly and had good reason to as well.

I agree Ron we should show respect for our ex players and managers but not embarrass ourselves by singing songs for them during the game. Sod nostalgia, our own boys are the ones making history now and i bet a small part of both of them wishes they were a part of it right now.

{Ed002's Note - Sterling forced his way out at the behest of his agent and went as far as refusing to get on the aircraft for a pre-season tour.}

I have never had hard feelings towards Suarez or Coutinho (or Sterling or Torres for that matter) and I for one will be applauding them before and after the game and hoping they fail ignominiously during the game. I expect the rest of the Liverpool supporters inside Anfield will do the same. For the vast majority of our supporters, it won’t be about a couple of ex-players, it will be about beating Barcelona and getting to another European Cup/ Champions League final - hopefully against Ajax.

Its funny to read these posts as a fair few would go nuts when I'd point out he wasn't world class and was pretty much a one trick pony.

Players come and go so not too bothered really. Now I think Cou and Suarez should get good receptions from the crowd for what they contributed on the pitch for LFC even tho, their conduct was reprehensible at times. Just got to let thing s go and think of the good times they provided to us fans. By the way, it makes us a much classier fan base.

If you think pipco is not good enough to play in our team you are deluded.

If he had never played for us and we were going to sign him we would all be buzzing.

He is world class, and he loves liverpool. I don't think he likes the egos of the Barcelona team, he is more suited to a tight knitted team. Like us.

And he probably kicks a foot ball better than anyone on the planet. Id take him back. If he joins utd, i may assasinate him.
