Excellent review and agree 100% on Hendo, when he got that red back then I immediately felt we were in trouble.

That goodness we have the necessary depth in midfield now, but sincerely hope he’s not injured.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed. He is once again playing like a champion, last thing we need is to lose him.}

Excellent read, Ed001. Shaqiri was only there for a few seconds, but I agree he looked like he was ready to defend and help the team.
I hope we can continue winning, and we see what happens at the end of the season.
Thanks for the review.
YNWA.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed for the Drake curse!}

i like when we see the bench reactions. guys like migs, moreno and shaq hardly play but they always seem invested in what is going on.

Good summery Ed001.

I echo SG red in the hope that Hendo is not injured. I’ve always rated Hendo, even more so since he’s more advanced position.

{Ed001's Note - it is a worry when it is his heel!}

Brilliant read, Ed. I too, am concerned with VVD always calling for Allison to come for a ball that he has no chance of getting to. I think someone should just tell VVD to read the situation and just DEAL with it cos he is the leader of the defence and should act like one instead of always passing the buck to Allison.

I also agree that Mane ripped Azpilicueta a new one, which is in itself cos for me, he is the best all-round defender in the PL. Reminds me of Paolo Maldini in the sense that he can play every position in the back line (in a back 4 or back 3) and you would think he was a natural. That shows how much of a beast Mane is.

All in all, great team performance and with Hendo in the form of his life right now as well as with Mane (the form of his lif as well), Salah back in form and Keita starting to pick up steam, we are in for a photo finish this season in the PL and hopefully, we will be the winners. YNWA!

{Ed001's Note - I actually began to feel sorry for Azpilicueta, he was giving everything and just made to look like a rookie full back.}

Cheers Ed. Firstly, I absolutely love a win against Chelsea. Pretty much the most satisfying team to beat for me.

I just hope the people who can't see Hendo for what he really is now realise that he’s actually been playing slightly out of position for the last few years. He was a major factor in our last title challenge and his move further forward recently has assisted two goals and created the chance in another in his last three games, on top of scoring one as well. Not to mention all the pressing, winning posession, knowing when to calm things down or go for the killer pass etc. Top player.

As for Wijnaldum and Keita and the midfield in general, I just hope Keita maintains his form and keeps improving as he has definitely given us something different in the last few games. He’s effectively playing the Wijnaldum role (albeit on the left and slightly more advanced) which means Gini can have the much deserved and needed breaks from time to time. It’s funny really because people accuse Lallana of too many touches and yet Wijnaldum often has more. The difference is he’s managed to wiggle his way out of trouble fantastically where Lallana often wiggles his way in to it. People have been crying out for that creative outlet, but with the options we have, i’m not sure its as necessary as people make out. Twenty six wins this season probably shows that to be true.

Absolutely loving this team/ manger/ club right now. Oh and Anfield well done. It sounded amazing, cacophonous and exactly what the players need.

{Ed001's Note - do you not think Henderson and Keita are providing creativity?

And you reminded me I forgot to include a paragraph about Anfield and how great it sounded at the weekend. So good to hear it almost like the old days. Just shows it is not about standing up, it is about speaking up and they spoke up and drove the team on.}

Good write up ed01. Totally agree. Nice to see matip get a rating above 5. I feel he deserved a decent rating this time.

Klopp got it bang on imo, hendo and keita were excellent going forward and they can both put in defensive shifts, when they tired we had the perfect subs in gini and milner.

Ed01, do you know how bad hendersons injury is? I think he could be massive in us beating Barcelona and winning the European Cup. I know im jumping the gun but utd aren't going to win at the nou camp and porto are not going to beat us by 3 goals.

And faithinworks, i kind of agree. Shaqiri is always the first sub on his feet to cheer the goals while migs sits there with a long face even when we are beating bayern munich 3 0.

{Ed001's Note - they believe it is just a knock and will be ok in a few days, but I am not going to get my hopes up just in case and hope that I will have my day made when he lines up against Porto.}

Great review Ed. Like others have mentioned, I loved Shaqiri's reaction to the goals. I thought that was one of Klopp's better jobs with the substitutions as well especially with Gini coming in for Keita; perfect timing and made a big big difference. Have a great day everyone.

{Ed001's Note - I had to include him last time because it was clear to see how desperate he was for the result. Everytime you could see him he was like a cheerleader on the sidelines, just needed pom-poms! Hopefully it has clicked with him as he came on and did the job that was needed, rather than just wandered about doing what he wanted.}

Really well done that Ed, a great read and spot on. Matip, he always worries me but he had a decent enough game. Until the final whistle though, I was waiting for a mistake from him, luckily, we did the job and he had a decent game so fair play.

Trent also scared me, overall he did well but that 10 mins or so I was bricking it because he couldn't handle Hazard, still though he had a good game and Im pointing no fingers.

Finally, come on Hendo haters, where are you now? The lad is bloody quality. He's so important to the team, it's a damn shame so many people don't see it.

Anyway thanks Ed, brilliant read that mate.

{Ed001's Note - Hazard is like Mane and Salah, no one can handle them on their own, so I am not too bothered that Trent was struggling against him personally.

Cheers mate.}

Thanks ed01, good to hear about henderson's knock. Im also trying not to jump the gun but i have this feeling we are going to lift a trophy this year. Either will be amazing.

But, even if we don't the progression has been unreal. We are so well balanced and that's why i believe we can win the European Cup.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed mate.}

12.) 16 Apr 2019
16 Apr 2019 13:59:58
That was my point to be fair ed, probably just didn't articulate it very well. It’s a great balance at the moment and the reason we play with three creative front men. Everyone has to work hard for the system to work well, but for the most part you can barely fault it. With Henderson knocking it about where ever he likes and Keita driving at the defence in tandem with Mane there's always good options available.

{Ed001's Note - got you sorry.}

The best laugh of the game came with seconds left of added on time. There was Shaq, doing his bit and helping out in our penalty area as we all wanted him to do. A cross came in from the left, VVD headed it out of the 6 yard box to the right hand corner of the area and up went Shaq, facing forward towards the Chelsea goal but somehow managing to head it back towards our goal. TAA cleared it for a throw-in and the whistle went soon after. 10 out of 10 for defensive commitment but I’m not sure how many for effectiveness.

14.) 16 Apr 2019
16 Apr 2019 16:09:57
Spot on, Ww. I honestly thought I was seeing things until I watched it back again and said, "Did Shaq just head the ball back into our own box? ". That was pretty funny, tho.

{Ed001's Note - at least he had a go like but it did show why he has scored so few headers in his career!}

I usually think Matip gets a hard time on this site where I don't think he's as bad as made out. He's by no shape or form great but as a 4th defender he's performed well enough and fortunately not missed gomez like i imagined we would have. That being said, I felt this was one of his poorer games. Chelsea's 3 best chances came from him choosing to step up without seeing who's behind him. First one was Willian in the first half where he tried to play offside at the half way line. Then the couple on Hazard where he hit the post and hit straight at Allison. Maybe a bit harsh on the post effort but the other two were poor defending and had we conceded he would be have been correctly blamed.

I'm definitely enjoying Henderson in the new role. He seems to be thriving and it seems to have given us a lift. He seemed restricted in a deeper role and in my opinion didn't feel totally comfortable. Hopefully he recovers for Cardiff as i think we'll definitely need him for every remaining prem game.

{Ed001's Note - and yet that is the least times he has made those mistakes in a match and you only just noticed them now? Bizarre.}

16.) 16 Apr 2019
16 Apr 2019 16:49:32
I'm not sure where i mentioned i "only just noticed them" so its not really bizarre.

He has a habit of jumping out and playing offside but for me this seemed to be his worst game for doing so. Perhaps i'm wrong but i don't recall a game where he's done this 3 or more times prior to this.

{Ed001's Note - I don't recall a game where he hasn't.}

The best player we have in ANY position and it's about time more people recognised this. Name me one player in the team who is better? I'll wait.

Then name me one player who would be better suited to the armband, ill wait.

18.) 16 Apr 2019
16 Apr 2019 18:41:33
Matip has been caught out of position countless times over the past several games. It was his senseless wandering that led to the Saints goal and allowed Kane to roll him and send Son on his way, leaving VVD alone with both Son and Sissoko for the chance Sissoko blazed over.

Teams literally don't press him when he has the ball anymore. They just bait him into making those senseless, marauding runs and then he loses the ball and then we are thin at the back on the counter. For some reason, Chelsea did NOT do that which allowed Matip to actually keep his head screwed on and make safe passes. I hope he has learnt and will eventually stop doing that as it is doing my head in.

Matip's "crazy runs forward" led to our first goal against chelsea.

definitely seen migs and moreno celebrating. I mean, its hard right? Its not like there is a camera to watch them all game lol. from what I have seen, migs and Moreno ride the emotions of the game like fans do. Sturridge is probably the only one I've seen who hardly reacts. he strikes me as the kind of guy that wouldn't watch football if he isn't involved!

Eds1why did you give Barkley 1 point.? That was so funny.

22.) 16 Apr 2019
16 Apr 2019 22:20:16
What "crazy run", Robbie? Our whole defensive line was in midfield, putting Chelsea under immense pressure when he passed the ball to Salah to start the move for the first goal. Matip NEVER made any run forward cos the Chelsea team chose to press him which made him more focused and play safer, more efficient passes.

I know you want to big up Matip and that's fine BUT at least, use facts to support your point cos it seems you are working WAY too hard trying to give him credit for something he clearly had NOTHING to do with.

23.) 16 Apr 2019

great review as ever.

but i think you forgot to add that Firmino was our best defender in this game. the no. of times he tracked back to defend and win the ball was amazing. i'm certain i saw him win the ball in our offensive 3rd, in midfield and in the defensive 3rd during the match.

i belong to the group that believes that if Hendo was not suspended, we probably would have won the title in 13/ 14. his running off the ball, pressing and passing gives us an additional dimension. he's probably never going to dribble past 3 and slot one in, but the way he moves creates space for our lethal front 3 and makes defenders uneasy, and his forward passes are much better than what people give him credit for.

shout out to Gini too who was played very well this season. i've criticized him for going missing in the past, but he has been reliable as the season went on.

i'm choosing to believe we will win the double. let's go things will go our way from here on.

{Ed001's Note - I get accused constantly of overselling Firmino's contribution so I have given up pointing it out. It seems no matter how well he plays is irrelevant to some people unless he scores a hat-trick every week.}

Cheers Ed001 really enjoyed the review. Fantastic match, currently in Ecuador visiting the parents. Watched it in a local bar (despite how early the game was here) and everyone went crazy after Salah's goal. Wonderful stuff.

Sarri has baffled me a little this season. I like him a lot as a manager but he can be a little too stubborn for his own good. Playing Hazard as a false 9 has never worked, he's fantastic at LW/ CAM/ RW, pick one. I also think Kante is better that little bit further back. Regardless Liverpool were great.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, glad you enjoyed.}

Fair enough redwolf. Matip was part of the move though and was very high up the pitch.

Matip used to play in midfield (dcm) i like a cb who makes forward runs, it panics the opposition and creates more space for our attacking players.

Im not bigging matip up 24/ 7. He has been awful for us on many occasions, i just think he is progressing as a player. With a world class keeper and world class cb next to him.
