A true Liverpool great. RIP Tommy Smith. My grandad spoke of how great you were, a reason I became a Liverpool fan.

I was lucky to get to see the Legend Tommy Smith play for Liverpool many times,
and what a hard man he was,
he put his body on the line so many times,
they only made one Tommy Smith,
and he could play good football too, scoring with a great header in a Cup Final, in Germany I think .
RIP .

I can remember a home game against Norwich, who had World Cup winner Martin Peters on the wing. Every time he made to run down the line with the ball, Tommy just took one step towards him and Peters would pass the ball infield. Not once in the whole match did he go anywhere near Tommy! Thing was though, Tommy could play as well, and what a Captain; he certainly led by example. He’d have run through walls for Shanks and Paisley.
RIP The Anfield Iron.

Bill Shankly said of him: “Tommy wasn’t born, he was quarried. ”.

That's a huge shame Tommy was my first Liverpool hero
I was fortunate enough to actually meet the guy in the 70s Great layer for Liverpool.
