Sunday is looking like Chelsea's game of the season (except spurs) . Rested most their top players just for it. To win we need to play at our best and have the fans cheering us on as it's probably our most important game now also!

Nervy 2-1 win to us.

I think my premonition for the Saints game was premature and it actually related to the Chelsea game.

7-2

:)

Regardless of resting their best players. Hazard and Kante both had to come on. most of the starting XI from that game will start on Sunday. We have also had a further 2 days prep and didn't have to travel for our european game. We should have too much for them anyway.

2-0 - Salah scores both!

Travel and 2 days extra prep are much bigger factors than resting a few bodies, I agree with Lambo, but not on the score, i'll go 4-1.

I agree it's the travelling that seems to knock it out of teams Playing in UEFA cup but I may be wrong.

It would be interesting to see player running comparisons between games after European games and in games where there are no European games beforehand.

Is it mental fatigue or physical fatigue that is affected if there is an affect.

Does winning or losing the game in midweek have an impact on the next performance.

Edds, any thoughts or insight?

{Ed001's Note - they all can make a difference. Team morale is the big thing, players who are confident and on a winning streak will not feel tired. However, concede a goal and get put under the cosh and they feel the travel in their limbs. It is mostly mental, but physical fatigue has its effects too, especially on the mind.}

The Liverpool 2019 side will beat Chelsea.

We are a different animal to last season.

Maybe just maybe this side that Jurgen has built are going to be history makers.

Ed, to draw on TG’s point about us being different in 2019, from your perspective what are the main differences between the way Klopp and Rodgers have handled their respective title run-ins?
It sounds obvious but I’m sure there is stuff we could learn.

{Ed001's Note - the main difference is that Klopp has experience in this position so the players respect him. Oh and he is not claiming every good thing is down to him, while every mistake is down to the players. Klopp brings the whole group together as a team with everybody else being given credit, rather than trying to swallow up all the glory for himself. That makes a huge difference at times as players like that he is loyal and play for him that tiny bit harder than they would if they do not feel like he will back them on their bad days. Rodgers felt like he had to prove himself constantly, he was constantly pointing to everything saying "I did this" when it was something good. Klopp does not have that issue, so when something goes well he says "they did that" and the players gain in confidence.

It reminds me of a scene in (I think) Coach Carter, where Samuel L. Jackson (a Liverpool fan) tries to get that out of his players. Rodgers could do with learning that lesson, that he does not need to take the credit for good things, as the glory is a shared glory anyway. If the team wins, he wins. He does not need to keep pointing to everything and saying "I did that". In my opinion he is insecure in his ability as a manager, which is why he constantly keeps telling everyone he is a great manager. If you believe you are something, then you don't feel the need to tell everyone all the time. That insecurity will eventually transmit to the players, particularly at times of pressure and stress, such as title run-ins.}

Europa League isn't Europe, it's just a doss.
They've had a week off in my opinion, both as fresh as each other going into the match.

Coach Carter reference love it Ed001!

{Ed001's Note - it is based on a true story, so it does have relevance. Some relevance anyway.}

LiverpoolFC8 - It is still Europe mate. When we were in the Europa League and the Mancs fans were saying this to us we still wanted that win against Dortmund and that final against Seville. It hurts your premier league run in for sure, but let's not discount the competition altogether.

ed002 would Chelsea have travelled back after the game of first thing this morning. Massive game Chelsea not been great away from home but I think this weekend could be the turning point for one of us Palace away not easy after to trips to London all ready last week and this and Pep will have one eye on Wednesday after losing the first leg. thanks ed002.

{Ed002's Note - They would have returned to Stanstead after the game.}

I think that this season, Klopp has tried to make sure that the team is not depleted of energy near the end of the season, like before,
this makes a huge difference, meaning we can give every game 100 per cent,
I have seen some seasons end were some of the players were knackered come the last few matches,
last game is at home, we might need to win this one .

It's funny to see how some of our fans think it's going to be a cakewalk for us lol

its one of the most difficult game for us, Chelsea has always been difficult game for us neither we are top of our game atm, they've got players in just blink of an eye can tear us apart.

I hope we press and harry them and play at a tempo where we can gain some advantage of their Europe league game :)

I think the game will be a close one in terms of performance as both teams have all to play for but as touching result, I think we ll edge this one with a 3-1 scoreline. Hopefully, though unlikely, Palace picks a point off City. 👌.

I have a friend who is a Chelsea fan, now aside from that he is fine. All week all I have had is Slippy G, they will slip up again etc etc. Then it hit me and I said "Stevie did slip and it cost us a game, its not like a Chelsea legend ever slipped at a vital moment, in the biggest game they have ever played to that point in a competition they had never won, oh hang on didn't JT slip taking a missed penalty in the CL final or did I imagine that". No answer came back other that " fair point"

Spot on, Ed re: BR vs Klopp. I have read several interview articles that Klopp has givem (some of them even before he came to LFC) and he has always struck me as someone who is a supremely-intelligent and very secure in his skin. Regardless of what is happening around him, he always remains calm, cool and collected for the most part. I know after games that his emotions can get the best of him BUT after some time, he calms down and actually apologizes when the situation warrants it.

One more thing I noticed is that Klopp NEVER speaks about himself regarding his achievements as a manager in Germany and the trophies he's won. He has NEVER spoken a word about that throughout this season with us going for the PL. This is another place where he is diff. from BR. Had this been BR, he would NEVER stop talking about the trophies he won in his "Look at me. Look what I have done and look at my achievemnts". As you say, if you have achieved stuff really, why talk about it It seems BR is insecure and ALWAYS wanted validation from whoever hence, it makes him look insecure anf if players know you are insecure then they won't respect you cos they know everything is always about you in the main.
