I know the brodge gets a bad press here, but he was a slip away from winning rhe league. He broke records woth celtic and have Leicester in fine form. I still believe the guy is a good coach/ manager. Maybe some of his transfers are a bit iffy but some are also great.

Gomez was a good signing.

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers had nothing to do with Gomez's signing, that was Dalglish who sealed it. Gomez had been tracked for a while mate.}

Ahh ok fair enough thanks mate.

{Ed001's Note - as for Leicester being in fine form, they have a top 6-level team, if the players can be arsed to play. However, as soon as Rodgers inflicts his style of play on them it will all go wrong. He is not a manager.}

Rodgers dominated an incredibly poor Scottish league with zero competition and failed miserably in Europe when up against true opposition. He also bailed mid season after yet another European failure.

The 6 months of great football we had we’re following advice from Bielsa I beleive which nearly saw us win the league. The following year he went to his own tactics which saw him get the chop. Leicester is about his level at the moment.

I don't like Rodgers as much as the next person but to suggest such stuff as above is farcical. He may have asked for advice from Biesla but so have many managers such as Pep etc, but that doesn't stop people claiming he's the greatest coach ever. I think people need to get off this band wagon now. The guy is obviously talented otherwise he wouldn't be managing in the Premier League. Yes he has his faults and yes he was a bit slimy but credit where credit is due, he nearly won us the league and it was not down to someone else's advice etc, it was down to the team we had and Rodgers managing said team.

I do agree with Stuie that its time to stop the massive bashing of Rodgers. That's not to say I think he's a great coach - I don't - but he's not as crap as some people are making out.

In terms of his signings:

Coutinho was a success
Sturridge was a reasonable success, at least for a couple of years.
Milner on a free has been a massive success for us.
Bobby has been huge too, but how much was that transfer down to Rodgers? Conspiracy theories abound!

And finally, who can forget the Messiah?! ;-)

Ed, I agree Leicester have a quality, quality side, but is it really top 6? To the extent that it’s better than some of the current top 6 teams?

{Ed001's Note - yes, definitely. If all the players give their all they are defo top 6 level. They have bought well and have a good balanced side with some real top class players such as Maddison and a goalscorer to lead the line as well. Added to that they have a strong bench as well. They should never have dropped out of the top 6 after winning the league but it went to the players' heads.}

You learn something new everyday. I had no idea Ed, that Dalglish sealed the Gomez deal.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, Dalglish was heavily involved in the academy at the time.}

Totally disagree with Stuie. I believe Rodgers was the reason we didn't win the league rather than him the reason we got so close. He has an over inflated ego fed by the British media. I have no doubt he is a half decent coach but that's all. As for the rationale that you have to be talented to manage in the Prem league! Mark Hughes, Shearer, Terry Connor etc etc . We came so close because of Suarez on fire, Sterling breaking through and Sturridge having his best season ever. We lost it because Brodge was in charge.
Ed is spot on the contrast between Brodge and Klopp as managers.

Sorry DK, but this is what I'm talking about. It's embarrassing and backs up Es002s point of LFC fans and slagging of players managers etc. The guy got us one win from a PL title I suppose you could say Klopp had Salah last season and only finished fourth, therefore he's crap. Rodgers has done pretty well at all his clubs including Swansea and celtic, but I suppose there's an excuse for that as well. LFC fans used to be known for their class and respect, it seems those days are long gone.
