The Chelsea game is huge. Am trying my best to not to let the 2014 game affect me but jeez it’s difficult!

Of course Hazard is primed for his annual Anfield performance again. With TAA and Matip’s shaky form right now I’d be tempted to bring Joe back early. I can’t see Klopp risking it though.

Can you believe we haven’t beaten Chelsea at Anfield since 2012 - and even that one was the dead rubber straight after that cup final defeat to them.

Ugh, this is stressful!

one of those ones where I hope we don't over think. Hope we just aet up to destroy em. we are primed for a big performance in the league. Chelsea at home is perfect timing.

Giroud and Hazard versus Matip and TAA - the most unpleasant thought of the whole week.

Matip should play, lovren was well off the pace last night and had Portos striker took his chances it could have easily been 3-2 Porto. Every chance for there striker came from lovrens mistakes. I hope Gomez gets fit either because neither are good enough.

{Ed001's Note - er actually a lot of those mistakes were actually not Lovren's but van Dijk. There were a number of times he should have been dropping in behind on the cover and he failed to do so. When the midfielders had the ball, they always looked to play it in behind for Marega. As the free man, with Marega being on Lovren's side, van Dijk should have looked to cover that ball. It was their only avenue of attack but he failed to react. Lovren was well off the pace, but van Dijk was no better, it wouldn't have mattered if it was Matip there, those mistakes would have still been happening.}

I knew you’d bite Ed 😁. I hope Gomez gets fit soon, If we can we as solid and consistent as we were in our opening ten games then the leagues ours. Matin and lovren both aren’t good enough.

{Ed001's Note - agreed. Van Dijk plays like he is alongside Gomez anyway, so we need to get him back. Then we can play high risk football at the back with less of an issue as both centre backs have recovery pace.}

considering Lovren has been out for so long I thought he did quite well last night.

I would go with lovren for the chelsea game. That said, we have not lost a game with matip in there. And i think a draw with chelsea and four more wins and the league is ours.

Robbiesline I admire your optimism mate, but if we draw against Chelsea And win the other 4 then Citeh can afford to loose a game and will win the league I’m afraid. We need to win a five games and hope Citeh loose a game, which I just can’t see them doing unfortunately.

Do you think Gomez might be used now Ed? He been on bench last few games so can’t be far away?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, he must be close to make it on the bench.}

I don't think klopp will risk gomez for fear of injury. Not yet anyways. Klopp has always said that the players have to build up a resistance of stamina. I'm hoping he'll be fully fit for the semi's as vvd and gomez will be needed as a partnership against Barcelona or even the mancs.
I think lovren will play against chelsea. they are due a loss at our place.
If citeh drop points against Palace we need to take full advantage and if they don't drop points then we need to keep the pressure on as I do think they will drop points in the next two weeks with the games and intensity they will be playing at. If they do, do that it will give us the injection of confidence to get the 29 year itch scratched.

Chelsea will certainly be looking to hit us on the break, playing the call in behind for Hazard to run onto.

We need to cut out those mistakes on Sunday or it’ll be a nightmare!

I think they might rest Hazard.

Good point virgil. Goal difference. But i think city will drop points at both spurs and utd. I think we might drop 2 with chelsea. I think if we beat chelsea, we will win the league.

To say you can't see city losing, well they lost last night mate, to a team they still have to play in the new stadium. They also have the utd game which, with uyd playing well recently and being at home i think city are going to get beat.

I think they draw with spurs and get beat by utd. Our undoing could be a draw with palace.

I dunno, im babbling, im nervous. Im worried but optimistic. I would rather have our run in than theirs. But i would rather be on equal points right now. Its going to be so close.

Ill say this, i really believe we will lift a trophy this year, and either one will be amazing.

Klopp has said that Gomez needs more training sessions to get his sharpness or part of it back so no point beating a dead horse on that front. As for Lovs' perf. vs Porto, for someone who is off the pace, I thought he did well too under the circumstances so I would not mind him starting cos he is more proactive, aggressive and more defensively sound than Matip.

As for the pathetic statistic that we haven't lost since Matip has been playing, that is a non-entity. That "stat" does not remove from the fact that he has been poor, is a ball-watcher, wanders into no-man's-land trying to dribble everyone instead of releasing the ball on time hence, always caught out of position leaving us vulnerable at the back, gets rolled by his opponent too much, and finally, gets bullied by any striker you put on him. Just ask Shane Long. Pretty sure that stat did not mention any of the stuff I just posted above. This is why stats mean nothing.
